Prologue-
Long ago in Japan, there was a man named Hamato Yoshi. He was a member of the Hamato Clan, one of the last remaining Ninja Clan, who swore to fight and protect the world from mystical threats.
He lived among the clan and started a relationship with a kunoichi named Tang Shen. The young couple were later blessed with triplet daughters, Hiyuu, Niki, and Miwa.
Life seems happy for the two. Then one night, everything changed...
The Hamato Village suffered a surprise sneak attack from The Foot Clan. A dark corrupt ninja clan and sworn enemies of the Hamato that was believed to have been wiped out years ago.
But the leader of this attack was actually one of Hamato Clan's very own ninja, Oroku Saki. Yoshi's former friend/brother.
He led the Foot and massacred everyone in the village they could find. The remaining members were Yoshi and his family.
Yoshi was then forced to fight his former friend which led to a massive fire that engulfed the entire village and led to the presumed demise of Saki.
All seemed lost for Hamato Yoshi until he discovered that Shen and his daughters managed to escape just in time before the blaze.
Despite the happy reunion, Hamato knew that as long as the Foot Clan was around, he and his family were not safe, so they fled Japan and went into hiding in New York.
For a while, everything was peaceful again for the Hamato family.
Until somehow, The Foot managed to track them down. Yoshi was horrified to see that not only was Saki still alive, but he was now a terrifying warrior known only as The Shredder…
Unfortunately this time, Yoshi didn't fare so well against Shredder. Tortured and on death's doors, Yoshi learns that Shredder is unaware that Shen and their daughters survived. In fact, Shredder even blamed him for Shen's 'demise'.
Yoshi decided the only way was to sacrifice himself so his family could get away, ultimately paying the ultimate price.
Tang Shen, for her part, knew she still had to protect her daughters, despite her grief.
She grabbed her daughters and ran. In her haste, he accidentally stepped on the tail of a wandering alley cat. Shen, being an animal lover, initially felt bad about that.
But she was unable to do so when she spotted Foot ninjas still all over the area.
Not wanting to be found out, Shen was forced to make a fateful split-second decision to hide in the sewer.
It was only supposed to be a little while until The Foot left. But fate seemed to have other plans.
At that same moment, Shen could hear the sounds of a truck having a near miss on the streets above.
Then suddenly from a nearby storm drain, a small tank containing four baby turtles fell out of it and landed in front of them.
The young mother couldn't help but feel sorry for the small reptiles in front of her. They were now stuck down in the sewers forced to fend for themselves.
But as soon as these turtles washed down here, something else did too.
A strange glass canister filled with a strange glowing cyan liquid fell into the sewer after the turtles.
Before Shen could even react, the canister crashed to the ground and shattered upon impact, splattering the strange slime all over her, her daughters, and the baby turtles.
At first, it just stunk, but then it burned. Tang Shen gasped, falling to her knees and letting go of her daughters for the first time this eventful day.
She felt pain surge throughout her body, only able to scream out in agony as her whole body changed before her eyes.
Shen looked down at her hands as they morphed into claws and black fur grew out of her skin. She even began to grow larger as a long tail sprouted out of her spine.
Once complete, the now mutated Shen collapsed to the ground.
Looking around, she is both shocked and horrified to realize she is not the only one to be transformed by this 'Ooze'.
Her very own daughters and the baby turtles started changing too.
Unlike their mother, the girl's bodies erupted into scales as they sprouted tails and grew into anthropomorphic snakes before their mother's eyes.
While the baby turtles grew into humanoid toddlers.
Shen couldn't understand why any of this was happening. Until it hit her…
Whatever this goo was, it turned whoever came in contact with it into the last thing they touched.
Shen stepped on the tail of an alley cat earlier, her daughters were being brushed up against a snakeskin belt Shen was wearing, and Shen touched the turtles before getting splattered.
Shen lay on the ground and raised her head up to see her now mutated daughters crawling towards her.
Before she could react, the girl nuzzled up against their mother, showing they still recognized her.
But before Shen could comfort her children, she heard people above rushing toward the area where Shen was screaming.
She immediately grabbed her daughters and the four turtles deeper into the sewers and hid there.
In time, Shen decided to start going by the name 'Shard' to reflect how her old life had become a shard of a memory.
Over time, Shard grew fond of the turtles and adopted them, making them stepbrothers for her daughters. She even named the four turtles after Italian Renaissance artists to honor her and her fallen husband's love for the arts.
Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo.
She even trained them to be ninjas to defend themselves and survive in this harsh world.
In a way, Shard ended up living the dream she and Yoshi had of raising a family and passing on the Hamato Clan's tradition and honor to the next generation. So Yoshi's memory will not be forgotten, and his sacrifice was not in vain.
Soon, the family of 8 was living peacefully until a trip to the surface led to their lives and destinies changing forever and molding the young mutant reptiles from ninjas-in-training into heroes…

Author's note: Let me know what you think. As always, Constructive criticism is allowed. Trolling is not.
So here's the pilot profile for my take on a TMNT story, which also takes place in my Autobots Rising universe.
And for anyone wondering which TMNT series this is based on, it's none of them…
I've decided to make this an amalgamation of the different continuities.
Though it mostly takes after both the 2003 series and the 2012 series. But you can expect stuff from the other continuities as well.
For example, Hamato Yoshi getting killed by Shredder before the series started and the way the turtles first ended up in the sewer is based on the 2003 series.
The Backstory of the Foot wiping out the Hamato Clan, the appearance of the Mutagen, and Shredder himself are mostly inspired by the 2012 series.
The Hamato Clan's duty to fight mystical threats is from Rise of the TMNT.
And I have also taken notes from other fanfic and fan ideas.
The idea of Miwa and Karai being separate characters is inspired by an idea by CyberEman2099. (Karai will still be important to Shen but you have to wait to see how.)
Yoshi and Shen have three daughters is based on a fic idea by L.D. but never went through with it.
Their names have meaning, I found out the name Miwa contains the kanji for the number 3. So I went with it, Niki had the kanji for 2, and Hiyuu contained the number 1.
Also, that's how they range from oldest to youngest.
But most of all, Tang Shen survived and raised the turtles, and becoming 'Master Shard' is based on the fanfic called 'Shards of a Memory' by FantasiaWandering who got the idea from Tumbler.
It was so cool and unique, I wanted to try it too and cause I always wondered the same thing.
One last thing, for any of you Splinter fans out there, don't worry. Splinter will appear in this fic, but not in the way you would imagine.
Stay tuned for that and some guest stars and team-ups from my other fics.
So until next time. AutoHunter, Rolling out of the hunt.
