Chapter 1:

It was a peaceful night in Mt. Paozu. The stars were twinkling, the breeze was soft, and many of the creatures that lived in the mountainous area snuggled close to their families for warmth and comfort.

But at the base of the mountain, where a small house stood with two occupants in it, the peace of the region was interrupted by a shrill, angry yell of a woman.

"GOKU! I said NO!"

"Aw c'mon Chi-Chi…" whined the Saiyan man, who pouted at his wife. "We already spent dinner together."

"GOKU. It's been months since I've seen you. MONTHS! And Goten is staying at Bulma's for the night, so we FINALLY have alone time together. Doesn't that mean anything to you!?" Chi-Chi screamed at the man who slowly backed away from her. She was absolutely livid. One minute, her husband was finally home, and here she was excited to spend some quality time with him and get some damn action tonight. Then the next minute, he had the nerve to leave. AGAIN. After only one evening together. And right after she slaved over dinner? And cleaned up his mess? And bought some suggestive clothing for tonight's supposed activities!?

"Of course it does honey, but you know I have to keep my training up. We won the tournament, but who knows if there's going to be another one? I have to get stronger!" He replied, punching a perfectly chiseled arm into the air to make a point.

Chi-Chi growled, throwing a few plates across the room, barely missing her partner by a few inches. "There's always a damn excuse with you! 'You have to train.' 'You have to get stronger.' The world isn't even in peril right now, and you're STILL finding excuse after excuse to skip out on me!"

Goku put his hands up in defense, smiling imploringly at his mate, hoping to change her mind. "It's just a teeny bit more training. Just a little and I'll be back before you know it!"

"Goku–"

"Teeny bit–"

"GOKU–"

"Pleeeeeaaaase…."

"GOKU!" This time, her voice reached an all-time high. The glass windows cracked, the floorboards shook, and the entire house trembled as much as her rage. Chi-Chi's grip on the nearby frying pan tightened, and she took a few steps towards her husband with violent intent.

Goku eyed the frying pan, and with that he closed his eyes and put his hands together in a desperate plea. "CHI-CHI! It'll only be a little while, what's the big deal!?"

Her footsteps stopped, and Goku opened one eye to find Chi-Chi looking at him steadily, the frying pan frozen above her head mid-strike. "The big deal," she repeated.

"Well… yeah."

Chi-Chi continued to look at him for another minute, her eyes not even blinking. Then to his surprise, Chi-Chi slowly put down the cookware and walked away from him into another room. He took a deep breath, feeling relieved from not having his head banged up by his wife. He may have been the strongest man in the universe, but there was still no one else he feared and admired more than Chi-Chi.

When she came back into the kitchen a few moments later, some of his defenses instinctively went up, but he was yet again surprised to see her so calm. This time she carried in a huge stack of papers in one hand, and she unceremoniously dumped it on the table. She tapped her nails against the stack, thinking hard about something. Then she looked straight at the Saiyan.

"Okay Goku. You really want to train? You really want it that badly?"

Goku relaxed, sensing his wife was coming around like she always did. "Yes Chi-Chi. It would mean a lot."

"... Okay," Chi-Chi said, Goku smiling winningly. "On one condition though."

"What is it?" he asked, knowing he'd do anything for her at this point since she was being so understanding.

She ruffled through the papers, pulling out the one at the very bottom. She then dug through her pocket, producing a pen and holding it out to him. "I want a divorce."

Goku furrowed his brow and cocked his head to the side. "What does 'divorce' mean?"

"... It means… that you and I are going to give each other space… All you have to do is sign this paper, and I promise that you can train as much as you like."

Goku smiled big once again. "Really!? I can train as much as I want?"

She stared at her husband. "Yes."

"Wow! Thanks Chi!" His heart glowed with love and affection for the woman standing in front of him. After all these years, Goku still appreciated how Chi-Chi understood his passion for fighting. There was no other person in the world that got him, that accepted him for who he was. Of course, he knew that he didn't deserve to have someone as pure as her, but he was so damn lucky to have her as his wife. "So I just write my name, right?" He continued, pointing to several lines at the bottom of the paper.

Chi-Chi's eye twitched a little. "Don't you want to at least read all this?"

He glanced at the stack of paper. There were lots of words he didn't understand. On top of that, he guessed it must have at least been twenty pages long. And he was never that good of a reader to begin with. "Uh… I think I'll pass." Goku accepted the pen from Chi-Chi and signed his name, not noticing the careful look on his wife's face.

He didn't know which line he had to sign on, but after he made a guess and put down his name, he smiled adoringly at Chi-Chi. "Welp, gotta go." Taking a step back, he started to concentrate on a certain Angel who so happened to be on Earth. Like every other time though, there was a split-second in which he lost his focus during Instant Transmission, because his thoughts would turn to his wife. He was going to miss her, like he always did.

He concentrated harder again, and now he could feel himself becoming lightweight. "Bye Chi-Chi." With a wave of his hand, he blinked once, then twice before vanishing into the air.

Standing by herself in the room, for the hundredth time, a tear fell down her cheek. "... Goodbye Goku."
