"Thanks for coming, Ladybug, Cat Noir. Maya and the other children have been begging me for a animal mural forever." Ladybug grinned. "Happy to help, and to play with Maya, of course."
The heroes were at Maya's daycare after learning the children had wanted a mural, and Ladybug being the creative artist she was, leaped at the chance. "Can we paint bunnies?" Maya asked. "And birdies...and…" "Whoa, slow down, Maya. Ladybug will come up with something fabulous, you bet my whiskers!"
Maya giggled as she held Cat's hand. "But you don't have any whiskers!" "Want to do want us to do, M'lady?" Cat asked. "You can help paint too...or…" "Patty Cake! Patty Cake!" Ladybug squatted down at level with her young charge. "I loved playing Patty Cake as a child. Why don't you play with Cat while I work?" Maya's forehead crinkled. "Okay."
Ladybug couldn't help giggling as she begin her farmyard mural, Cat was a natural with kids, and she had a sneaking suspicion, her Kitty would never fully grow up.
"Patty Cake, Patty Cake, baker's man!
Bake me a cake as fast as you can!
Roll it, and pat it, and mark it with a M
for Maya and me!"
Ladybug had "borrowed" Marinette's hero dolls, and two played quietly. Things were going well, until Ladybug whipped around hearing a wail. "What happened?" she asked, as Cat came over, rubbing Maya's back. "I think someone's hungry."
"Is that, Maya? Are you hungry?" Maya looked at her sniffled, then buried back down into Cat's shoulder. "Okay, I'll be back in a flash before you can say Bugaboo!"
Maya grew happier after she had eaten her snack, and she picked up a paintbrush and sat down next to Cat as he chatted with Ladybug.
Maya cocked her head. Cat's leather suit was a black leather canvas, and Maya quietly dipped her brush into a can of white.
"Um, Kitty? I think your a muse," Ladybug chuckled. "Thanks," Cat said, and Ladybug shook her head, pointing. "Maya!" Cat turned, seeing his back covered in white paint while Ladybug burst into giggles. "How about we paint on the actual wall, okay, sweetie?"
Before Ladybug knew it, Maya had crawled onto her lap and fallen asleep. Ladybug put a finger to her lips, resting her head on Cat's shoulder.
It will be years before kids, but for now, taking care of this adorable girl was good enough for now.
