Author's Note: Haven't felt motivated to write in a long time, but trying my best to get back into it. This story, I'm hoping, will help me feel more motivated to write. This will be a mostly My Hero Academia story with a slight crossover with one piece.
Chapter 1: Dream Reignited
People are not born equal.
Izuku Midoriya discovered that fact at the ripe age of 4.
In the world, years ago, a baby was born naturally generating light displaying the world's first superhuman to ever be born. Several more children were born with varying displays of abilities and as years passed, it became the new norm.
80% of the world's population was known to contain, what was now labelled as, a Quirk. With the abilities known as Quirks being the new norm, this altered human society in the fact that it was common now for two sides of society to exist into two general fields: Heroes and Villains.
Unfortunately, the individuals unlucky enough to be born with a Quirk in this society were bound to be suppressed by others with quirks or even outright seen as useless.
Izuku was one of the unfortunate souls to not be born with a quirk, which was discovered when he was 4, the age that a majority of children discover their quirk abilities, as he displayed no abilities at all.
This led to him being faced with prejudice from his peers and society as a whole as a majority of people tended to look at him with pity or outright disdain.
Growing up watching heroes save the day and wanting to be a hero himself, Izuku was, of course, devastated that his dream died before he even had a chance to start.
When he asked his mom if he could still be a hero, he was further disheartened when even his mom didn't believe in his ability to be a hero without a quirk and could only tell him sorry.
He understood why his mom was apologizing, but Izuku wished her words were so different.
He still held some hope as he got older that he might develop a quirk later as he read stories of late bloomers so he studied and analyzed lots of quirks thinking it may help him later on.
When he turned 12 with no signs of a quirk ever occurring, Izuku's flame of hope diminished drastically.
Add to the fact that he faced ridicule and mockery from his classmates, including his supposed childhood friend, Katsuki Bakugo, Izuku felt himself slowly give up hope and started to wallow in despair.
Not knowing what else to do, Izuku found himself standing on the edge of his school building, looking down at the ground as the rain above his head poured heavily to match his current mood.
Staring up at the sky, feeling the coldness of the rain splash on his face, Izuku allowed his tears to fall down his face, mixing with the rain.
'Why is life so unfair? I never asked to be born like this.'
Izuku diverted his eyes from the sky to the ground below as he contemplated what he was about to do.
'Maybe Katsuki was right, maybe if I just jump, I can possibly be reborn with a quirk.'
Izuku closed his eyes thinking about all the people in his life that might miss him when he was gone and wasn't surprised the only one that he could think of was his mom. No one really wanted to ever get to really know him due to his quirkless status and his ties with his childhood friend, Katsuki, basically ended the day he found out he was quirkless.
He chuckled depressingly as he felt the tears develop faster causing them to stream almost endlessly down his face.
'I'm sorry, mom. I hope you can still live a happy life without me.'
Just as he was about to take the plunge, Izuku was startled from his actions by the sounds of thunder from above.
He opened his eyes and stared in astonishment as the clouds above were flashing with a wide arrange of colors before, to his shock and horror, a lightning bolt started traveling towards him.
Before he could do anything at all, Izuku felt the lightning bolt hit him, causing him to feel the most intense pain he's ever experienced in his whole life.
"AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!"
After the lightning struck him, Izuku felt his charred body fall off the building.
The last thing Izuku saw before he succumbed to darkness was what appeared to be some wooden branches surrounding him in the shape of a sphere.
?
Izuku sat up with a gasp as he grasped at his chest.
He looked down at himself and was surprised to see himself relatively fine as his school clothes he was wearing appeared undamaged and his skin seemed to be uncharred.
'I could've sworn I was struck by lightning. How am I still fine?'
While he was checking his body, he realized, to his fear, that the ground beneath him was just endless darkness, causing Izuku to stand up in a fright and look around, hoping to figure out where he was.
Just like the ground, the area around him was just an endless void of darkness, but strangely enough, Izuku could still see his body in perfect clarity even without any apparent light around to make that possible.
Trying to figure out what was going on, Izuku guessed that he must still be unconscious in reality and, for some reason, was able to be conscious within his own body.
'If I'm really still unconscious, how am I here? Did the lightning do this? What if this is a villain's quirk?! Did I get kidnapped? Maybe I am awake and this is just someone's quirk making it so that I can't see around me except myself. That might-'
Before Izuku could continue rambling on with his thoughts as he usually does when faced with a situation unknown to him, he was brought out of his thoughts when he noticed a floating ball of white light illuminate out of nowhere in front of him.
He wasn't sure if it was the brightest idea, but with seemingly no other alternative present, Izuku carefully approached the ball of light and carefully reached his hand out to touch it.
As soon as his finger came into contact with it, Izuku had to close his eyes as the light shined brighter upon contact and, unknown to Izuku, enveloped him.
When Izuku opened his eyes again, he found the area around himself now to be all white instead of the void from earlier.
'Well, I'm glad that the light earlier wasn't harmful, but what was the point of that light?'
"Hey there."
Izuku shrieked in fright as he heard a deep voice from behind him.
Turning around and backing up quickly, Izuku saw that behind him was a pretty tall man, about 5 '11 or so, garbed in what appeared to be a white uniform of some sort with a white jacket over his shoulders. He also noticed the man had a rare shade of pink hair, not that uncommon in the world with everyone having powers, a green bandana with a flower pattern on it, and blue glasses, currently resting on his forehead.
Izuku fearfully looked at the unknown man.
"Who are you?"
The man chuckled and placed his hands, which Izuku noticed were covered in numerous scars, in the universal position to show he meant no harm and smiled warmly at Izuku.
"Don't worry kid. I don't mean any harm. As for who I am, my name is Koby. What's your name?"
Izuku felt his fear slowly dissipate as he heard the warm voice and saw that Koby seemed a lot more friendly than most people he's encountered.
"My name is Izuku Midoriya."
"Nice to meet you, Midoriya-kun."
Koby extended his hand to Izuku, who shook it in response seeing that the man was friendly enough.
"Nice to meet you too, Koby-san. By any chance, do you know where we are exactly?"
"Well, Midoriya-kun, you are currently within your own mind as your body is still unconscious from that lightning strike earlier, which was caused intentionally so that we could meet. Sorry for that by the way, but there is a valid reason for it I promise you."
Izuku was a little frightened that it seemed that Koby was the reason for him being here in this state right now, but seeing that Koby, who was scratching the back of his head bashfully, was forthcoming with his reason for it, Izuku allowed himself to be more curious since he did predict earlier that he might've been conscious in his own mind.
"Why did you need to meet with me? Or a better question, why did you want to? I'm just a quirkless nobody that can't do anything."
Koby frowned as Izuku talked himself down and placed his hand on his shoulder to catch his attention.
"Don't talk about yourself like that Midoriya-kun. I think you're a great young man that just got dealt a bad hand, but that doesn't mean you can't change. In fact, that's the main reason I'm here. To be able to give you a chance to change your fate."
Izuku felt tears form a little at Koby's kind words.
"Really? You mean there's a chance I can still be a hero?"
Koby stared down at the young boy and chuckled, making him confused.
"Sorry Midoriya-kun, I didn't mean to laugh at you, I'm just laughing cause you reminded me of myself when I was younger. As for your question, it's more than just a chance, but you do have to put in the work for it. You think you're up for it?"
Izuku rubbed his eyes and stared up at Koby with determination.
"Of course I'm up for it! It's always been my dream to be a hero!"
Koby smiled warmly at Izuku.
"And that's the reason why I'm here now with you, Midoriya-kun. Before I explain why, to start, Midoriya-kun, I am actually from another world entirely separate from this one."
Izuku's eyes widened in shock at the revelation, making Koby laugh a little at his reaction, knowing he would've reacted the same way.
"I know it's pretty shocking. In my world, it was similar to this one but a lot bigger and with more moons as well as the land being composed of multiple bodies of land with the main form of transportation being ships to travel around the world. Our worlds are very similar in the sense that your world has heroes and villains while mine had pirates and marines. Of course there was another faction called the revolutionaries, but that's a whole other thing we don't have to worry about right now."
"Wow, I can't believe that other worlds exist. I always wondered, but didn't think I'd ever find that out."
Koby just chuckled in amusement before he continued on.
"In my world, I was on the side of the marines. Similar to your desire to be a hero, I always wanted to be a marine and be someone who could help others and fight and capture bad pirates so that no one would have to be afraid. Luckily enough, I achieved that dream."
Koby turned around and pointed at his back to show the words 'Justice' displayed on the back of his jacket over his shoulders, making Izuku's eyes shine with wonder and amazement.
"I climbed my way up the ranks and, like my mentor in my world, achieved the moniker Hero after I helped save an island from dangerous pirates."
Izuku was shaking in excitement at this point as he always admired heroes and the fact he gets to meet another one from another world just made this experience something that Izuku would never forget.
"That's awesome Koby-san! I can't believe I'm meeting a hero from another world!"
Koby just blushed bashfully as he grinned sheepishly.
"Thank you Midoriya-kun. I don't think I'm that great, but I'm proud of how far I was able to go."
Izuku became confused at his wording.
"What do you mean, was?"
Koby smiled sadly at Izuku.
"I said that due to the fact that I actually lost my life in battle."
Izuku was shocked at the revelation and felt bad for Koby.
"I'm sorry Koby-san."
"It's alright, Midoriya-kun. I'm proud of what I accomplished and the lives I saved. While I wish I could've done more in my world, I'm glad I'm still able to help out one more person before I go, which is you, Midoriya-kun. You see, after I passed away in my world, I was confronted by a voice, who I'm assuming is a god either from my world or yours, that asked me if I'd like to help out someone who was like me. When I thought of my own experience, I knew I wouldn't have been able to achieve my dream if one of my best friends didn't convince me to pursue it. Wanting to be just like my friend, I agreed and here I am."
Izuku couldn't believe his luck. He was now given the opportunity to achieve his dream from a hero from another world. How cool was that?!
"Thank you so much, Koby-san! I promise I won't let you down!"
Koby grinned at Izuku as he could feel the excitement and determination radiating off of him.
"I know you won't, Midoriya-kun. Remember how I said you need to put in the work to become a hero?"
Izuku nodded since he expected as much.
"Good because you're going to have to push your body to the very limits if you want to become a hero. The lightning strike to your body made it so that your body will have the same composition of the people from my world. Let me show you."
Koby extended his finger and lightly tapped Izuku's forehead, causing him to see visions of several types of people performing feats that made All Might look like a basic civilian.
"Woah."
Koby then brought up his fist in front of Izuku and, to Izuku's amazement, a black substance seemed to cover the fist entirely.
"This is known as Haki. With it you're able to perform feats such as predict your opponent's attacks, deal massive damage to your opponents, and even press upon your will to others, making them go unconscious. While these abilities are great, you are going to have to train in order to achieve it. From the visions I showed you, I have given you the guide for it, but it'll be up to you to attain it."
Izuku nodded grimly as he winced, recalling the visions of Koby punching warships till his knuckles bled, but he clenched his fist in determination.
'I know it'll hurt, but if I can achieve my dream of being a hero, any pain is worth it.'
Seeing that Izuku wasn't deterred even after showing him how painful his path will be, Koby knew that Izuku would be a great hero.
Koby's body started glowing, alarming Izuku.
"Koby-san! What's happening?!"
Koby smiled assuredly at Izuku.
"It's okay, Midoriya-kun. I'm just finally passing on now that I've completed what I came here to do. I know you'll be a great hero."
As Koby's body slowly disappeared from his view, Izuku cried as he finally heard someone tell him he could be a hero.
Izuku's body started to glow as well, startling him before he relaxed as he came to the conclusion that his body was just waking up.
He wiped his tears away and stared upwards in the vast white space with a grin on his face.
'Thank you again Koby-san. I won't let your help be in vain.'
Izuku took a deep breath and yelled as loud as he could.
"I WILL BECOME A HERO!"
This was the start of how Izuku became the greatest hero.
