Berk, After a raid
A raid has happened on Berk and many Berkeans have been injured and several lay dead. Even some of the dragons did not survive the attack. The chief is standing with a sword that is dripping in blood, and he drops the bloody sword to the ground. The man is tall at six foot, wearing a brown leather shirt and pants and fur boots.
He also has a long brown fur cloak and a belt with a large metal belt on the front of the belt. At his feet lies the dead body of a large man. All around there are many wounded on both sides. A loud roar comes from above his head. When he turns his head to look, he sees a Deadly Nadder flying down towards him. He does not react but does duck down when several spines come flying past him. The men that attacked him have fallen dead as the dragon flies past him. The Deadly Nadder in question is a blue and yellow Nadder and on the Nadder's back is a female rider.
She has blond hair that goes into a long single braid, a red top with metal shoulder pads, her skirt is fur with spikes, blue leggings, and fur boots. She has her axe strapped to her back. As the pair fly around the Berk. The girl can see that the raiders are retreating and all-around cheers can be heard around. She pats her dragon's neck gently. Her dragon squeaks then land gently to the ground.
The young shieldmaiden dismounts her dragon to take a breath. That is when the Chief stomps over to her yelling, "If you just marry their chief then the raiding would stop!" The young shieldmaiden shouts back, "They would still raid us! That pervert wants me because I am young, and he just wants someone to keep his bed warm!" Her dragon steps closer as the Chief comes closer to the young maiden. The Chief grabs her by the arm causing the Nadder to react quickly. Before, the dragon is pinned down with ropes and other vikings. The shieldmaiden tries to pull free but she can't and the Chief brings her closer to him so he can whisper into her ear. "If you don't marry him tomorrow then you will no longer be a shieldmaiden. You will be an outcast. A nobody and then you will beg me to help you." He spat out every word but she responded by spitting in his face then said, "I will never marry that man or beg you for help."
The shieldmaiden then kicks the Chief causing him to let go then she rushes over to free her dragon. She pulls her axe off her back to threaten the men holding her dragon down. The men back down quickly from her. The Nadder mock charges the men then kneel down so her rider can get on. Without a moment to spare the dragon takes off into the air. Everyone is silent as they watch the scene unfold. The Chief became more angry then he saw the other villagers staring, "Back to work!"
He yelled and everyone got into gear and began the task of cleaning up and cleaning up the bodies of both villagers and raiders alike. The Chief watches shieldmaiden disappear into the night sky. He goes to his home for the time being. The shieldmaiden is sitting on a cliff side with her dragon lying next to her. The Shieldmaiden name is Astrid and she sits to watch the stars dance in the night sky with the moon slowly rising to join the nightly dance.
She is looking out on the horizon then she stands up when an idea strikes her suddenly, "We are leaving tonight. I can't take all of this anymore, Stormfly." She turns to see Stormfly staring at her still laying down. Astrid looks back at her village and becomes angry then she spits in the village's direction. Stormfly stands up as Astrid climbs onto her back. She then says, "Let's get to the house girl. I need to get my stuff and then we will leave." Stormfly takes off towards the house, but they move as silently as possible. Once they get back to the village, she can see that everyone is home, and the bodies are all gone.
Astrid gets to her bedroom window then climbs in without making a sound. As she entered her room, she could hear her mother being very loud with a man. Astrid shakes her head in disgust and goes to pack her bags. Once she is done she drops the bag out her window and that is when she hears her mother, "I do hope you will come back to see me baby." The man's voice is the voice of the Chief, "If you get that daughter of yours to marry the Chief of Berserkers then you will be a very wealthy slut." Astrid is stunned but she decides to listen in. Her mom then said, "Don't worry I will convince her to marry him."
She hears the Chief leave the house when she hears the front door slam shut. Then Astrid hears footsteps heading to her room. She quickly runs to the window and jumps out landing on Stromfly's back who quickly takes off. While flying Astrid strapped the bag to Stormfly's saddle. Astrid's mother enters her daughter's room only to see that Astrid is gone.
After looking around for a few moments she then looks out the window to see Astrid flying away fast. The Chief also saw Astrid leave on Stormfly; he was seething mad, and he saw the girl's mother running out of the house. Her mom yells, "Astrid left! I saw her flying away! What will we do now?!" The Chief thought for a moment then said, "We will wait until the spring to go looking for her. If she does not return when winter ends." Her mom nods and that night he writes a letter to the Chief of the Berserkers about Astrid's stunt. He looks at his maps and he plans to find the girl himself even if it means to break her by any means necessary.
One month later, Outside the Archipelago
Astrid and Stormfly have been traveling for about a month now and they are tired and hungry from such a long trip. Astrid can tell that Stormfly is tired, and she gives her a few pats and says, "We will find land and a place to stay soon." Stormfly just squeaks a little bit but keeps flying forward. Astrid closes her eyes for a moment and then she jerks up to see a town ahead. She cheered loudly and said, "Stormfly landed in the forest. I don't think these people know what a dragon is." Stormfly squawks and lands in the forest near a cave. Astrid dismounts and then she grabs her bag and then counts how much money she has. She sighed sadly since she may only have enough to buy one meal.
Astrid then puts what little money she has away into a hidden pocket then she says, "I will be back Stormfly. I promise. Stay out of sight until I come back." Stormfly gives a little nod and then she goes into the cave to get some sleep. Astrid begins to walk to the town and finds a trail and starts to follow the trail.
After an hour of walking Astrid is tired and is struggling to keep walking. Astrid hears a horse behind her, so she moves off to the side of the road. When she looks to see who is behind her she sees a man riding a wagon that is horse drawn. She moves another step back and the man pulls up next to her pulling on the reins on the horse then asks, "Are you alright young lady?" Astrid looked at him then answered, "I have been walking for a while. Do you have any water?" The man pulls out a catena and gives it to her. Astrid takes it and drinks the cold water. After she took a drink Astrid then said, "Thank you, sir."
The man nodded, then asked, "Are you heading into town?" Astrid nodded, then the man said, "That will be a few more hours of walking. Let me give you a lift. That way you can rest, and you can get into town before dark." Astrid thinks about it then she climbs aboard and the man gets his horse moving. The pair travel in silence then they reach the town. Astrid is amazed by what she sees and is in wonder. The streets are full of vendors selling food, animals, jewelry, and even clothing.
The man stops his horse then he gets down with Astrid close by a water trough. The man then said, "Well young lady this is where we part ways. If you need a place to stay, you can go to any inn or tavern. If you go to "Late Nighters Tavern & Inn" tell the bartender that "an old friend has come to town." He will let you stay in the tavern for the night, no charge." Astrid nods and thanks the man before she heads off. She finds a lot of different people and she sees a lot of vendors on the sides.
Late Nighters Tavern & Inn
She soon finds an inn that says, 'Late Nighters Tavern & Inn'. She opens the door and inside there is soft music playing, the room is dimmed, the patrons are all looking at her, some even with lust in their eyes. She glares at them and to her surprise none of them back down but she does not back down. Astrid is then grabbed by a man who is short, black hair, pale skin, black eyes, a bit muscular, wearing a green tunic, brown pants, fur boots and has a belt around his waist. She was disgusted and he said, "Hey babe. Why don't we go off to my room and have a bite to eat." Astrid punches the man in the face and he backs up a little surprised.
Astrid then said angrily, "Touch me again and I will do more than punch you in the face." The man was going to say something, but another voice stopped him, "Snoutlout leave her alone. She obviously doesn't want you." The man now named Snotloud leaves in a huff. Astrid looks for the voice and a man waves her over. She goes to him and she instantly feels a strange pull to him but shakes the feeling. He has on a black tunic that shows off his lean figure, black pants and leather boots. He has reddish brown hair, green eyes, pale skin, a small scar on his chin, and a few freckles, as well as a charming smile.
Astrid can't help but be swoon when she gives him a once over, but she shakes her head then says, "Thank you. But I didn't need the help." The man nodded and cleans a glass and said, "I know. But my cousin would have kept harassing you until you were in his bed. He is kinda known for taking girls to bed by getting them drunk." Astrid is disgusted and she asks, "How much is it to stay a night?"
The man answers, "Depends on what room you want." Astrid said, "I just want a room with a warm bed." The man thought for a moment then said, "I have a room that meets your request, but the room is two gold pieces." Astrid does not have that money. She became bummed and then she remembered what the man said, "I don't have much to offer you but I do want to tell you that an old friend has come to town."
The bartender nodded, then he went to a counter and handed her a key. He then said, "In that case you have the room for one night." Astrid thanks him and takes the key and he said, "The room is at the top of the stairs, and you will be able to rest with no one entering." She looks at him and he chuckles a little. Astrid nods and heads to her room. He watches her leave and then he is approached by a cloaked figure. The voice is a female and she asked, "Is she the one?" The bartender nodded and said excitedly, "She is. I can't believe I found her. After all this time."
The figure nodded and said, "Then if I were you, I would start to woo her." The man smiled, "Is going to take all of my will not to take her, mark her and show she belongs to me." He goes back to cleaning glass and the counter as well as serving other customers. Snotlout came to sit down and said, "Come on Hiccup I wanted her." Hiccup growled lowly and pulled him close and whispered, "She is mine. That maiden is my mate." In a deadly voice he says, "Don't. Touch. Her." Snotloud simply nods and backs off going off to flirt with a girl who is really drunk.
Hiccup is doing his best to keep in control and thinking the best way to keep his mate here. The female said, "Have her work for you. That way she will be here while you can gain her trust and love." Hiccup thinks for a second then agrees, "You are right. That is a good idea, Heather. I owe you." Heather said, "The best way you can thank me is to see you be happy."
He nodded and said, "Done deal. We have a clan meeting at midnight. I want to make sure she is safe. I don't want my father or the clan to know yet." She nodded and said, "The clan and your father will not know." She stays put and Hiccup goes back to work. Snotlout is busy making out with a drunk girl and even though he gives Hiccup trouble he won't betray him. By the time midnight comes around everyone is in their rooms and asleep. Hiccup has closed down the bar and is doing a final check. Once that is done, he, Snotlout and Heather head to the back room and pull a barrel.
Auther's Notes: A new adventure and this time it too way too long for me to figure out how to post a new story. But figured it out now which is good. I hope everyone who stops by likes this new story. So far this is my favorite story to write, and I hope you guys like this tale too.
