"A long time ago, in a certain place, there existed a beautiful, charming, kind, and popular woman. She was the perfect image of an angel who came from the heavens, loved by everyone." Yang Xiao Long's small narration was interrupted by her good friend.
"What the hell are you talking about?" Jaune Arc's face was the picture of disbelief.
They were both in the Arc family home, more specifically in Jaune's bedroom. It was a typical seventeen-year-old's room, a total mess. Clothes were strewn everywhere, his bed was unmade, and his trusty gaming computer was surrounded by snack wrappers. Yang looked slightly annoyed. "Why are you interrupting my grand story, Jaune?"
"Are you delusional? Sure, you're pretty, but kind? Charming? You solve all your problems with violence. You're a barbarian," he replied, raising an eyebrow in judgment.
Yang, an athletic young woman with golden hair that cascaded down her back in wild waves, grinned as she tackled him, pinning him to the floor with ease. Sitting on his back, she twisted his legs with a wrestling hold. "What kind of friend are you?!" she asked with a devilish smile.
"Ouch, okay, okay, calm down, woman!" He groaned in pain.
While Jaune couldn't exactly complain about a beautiful woman on top of him, he definitely wasn't a fan of the pain. After a few minutes, Yang released him and took a seat on his bed, continuing her story with renewed enthusiasm. "So, as I was saying, the beautiful heroine was teaching humility to a group of people who came to bother her near her house."
Based on experience dealing with Yang, Jaune started translating her story in his mind. "Teaching humility, huh? So, she probably beat up a group of idiots who came to bother her." Yang Xiao Long was what you could call a delinquent. Her beauty was matched only by her love for a good fight.
"However, a tall man who introduced himself as Junior appeared in front of her. He looked like a bartender from some club or something."
Jaune's brow furrowed as he struggled to make sense of that. "A bartender? Why would a bartender show up at your place? Unless…" He paused. "Maybe he was a friend of Mr. Taiyang?"
"Yes! The heroine went into her house with her father and the bartender, and immediately, the man turned black," Yang said, continuing with a mischievous grin.
Jaune's expression went from confused to outright baffled. "Wait a minute! He just turned… black? Are you saying he went from a white guy to a black guy in an instant? That sounds… kinda bad, Yang. People don't just turn black like that!" His voice was filled with exasperation.
Ignoring her friend's confusion, Yang continued, "Then, small glowing points started appearing all over his dark skin, like looking into space but on a person's skin. You know, like in those space movies, only imagine it on a person."
Jaune's jaw dropped. "Skin that looks like space? What are you even talking about? Wait… I remember seeing a show when I was a kid where a guy transformed into aliens with a watch, and one of them looked like that," he mused.
"Yes! Just like that!" Yang's face lit up with excitement. "I watched that show too, but I can't remember the alien's name!"
"Hold on, hold on," Jaune interrupted, rubbing his temples. "First off, regular people can't turn into that. So he didn't turn from a white guy into a black guy. Jeez, my head hurts from just trying to make sense of this! Are you on something?"
That earned him a light smack on the head. "Idiot. Take my words seriously," Yang huffed, annoyed.
"Okay, okay. Maybe there's a logical explanation. Go on," Jaune sighed, resigning himself to her wild story.
Yang nodded. "So, after this man turned into a cosmic being, a beautiful girl with silver eyes stepped out of him."
Jaune, who had just taken a sip of juice, sprayed it everywhere in shock. "What the hell?!"
Ignoring him, Yang went on, "The heroine thought the girl was pretty cute."
Jaune finally had enough. "What kind of nonsense are you talking about?! Guys don't give birth to girls! And it wasn't even a baby! What you're saying sounds like pure nonsense!" Getting up from his chair, he grabbed his jacket. "I'm leaving. I'd rather take a walk and get some air than listen to this insanity. Finish your juice and get out of my house."
Yang tried to stop him. "Hold on a second, Jaune! I hadn't even gotten to the important part!" But he was having none of it. "Shut up! If I keep listening to this, I'm going to end up as crazy as you! If you wanted me to believe it, at least bring this so-called girl here."
Yang smirked. "You could have just said so. Ruby, come on in."
Jaune froze as a young girl stepped into his room. She was petite and slender, with short, dark hair tipped in crimson. Her eyes, a mesmerizing shade of silver, captivated him instantly. She wore a red skirt and black blouse, and over it, she had a red hooded cape that added an air of mystery. Her face was lit up with a delighted smile. He couldn't help but blush slightly at the sight of her.
Yang cleared her throat to break his trance, and he snapped back to reality. "Wait, wait. Was she outside my room this whole time? Good thing my family's out… But okay, she's real, I'll give you that. But I doubt she just came out of a man. I mean, technically we all come from a man, but not like that… I'm losing the plot here."
"Go ahead, Ruby, have some juice," Yang offered, and the mysterious girl poured herself a glass before sitting beside Yang, her curious gaze fixed on Jaune. "Shall we continue?"
Jaune returned to his chair by his computer, feeling utterly defeated. Ruby leaned forward to speak. "If you don't mind, Yang, let me take over. I was listening from outside, and it seems you're not very good at telling this story."
Jaune appreciated the validation, though he found it odd that she wore a cape. She looked like a sweet, normal girl otherwise. "Nice to meet you, Jaune. I'm Ruby Rose, the daughter of the current Demon Lord."
For a moment, he thought he'd misheard. "Are you royalty or something? I thought I heard something about your father or mother being important?" She gave him an adorable smile as she repeated herself. "I'm the daughter of the current Demon Lord, you know, the one who rules the underworld."
Jaune's face displayed utter disbelief as his thoughts raced. "Oh god, she's another lunatic like Yang. Actually, she's worse. She thinks she's a demon or something. This girl's crazy."
Suddenly, a sharp sensation near his neck made him freeze. A thin blade was pressing against his throat, the slightest move threatening to decapitate him. A sweet voice spoke in his mind, "How dare you think of Lady Ruby in such a way? I should execute you right now for your insolence." Ruby chuckled softly. "Easy, Neo. I doubt his thoughts were that disrespectful. Besides, I don't want to kill him; I like him."
Standing behind him was a stunning woman with an icy glare and, apparently, a knack for hiding swords inside her parasol. Jaune noticed the sheen of the blade and felt a cold sweat break out. "Holy crap, why did Yang have to bring such crazy people here? They're gorgeous, but this is too much."
Neo, still pointing her umbrella-sword at him, sneered, "Complimenting us is fine, but keep calling us crazy, and I'll take your head." Jaune, terrified, blurted, "Wait a second, how are you speaking without moving your lips? And how long have you been reading my thoughts?" It was the only logical explanation he could come up with, however absurd it sounded. "Well, it seems you're not a total waste of breath," Neo's voice echoed in his head, though her lips never moved. She gave Yang a pointed look. "Unlike this savage here."
Yang bristled at the remark. "What did you say, you little—?! Looks like someone needs a lesson in respect."
Ruby stepped in, chuckling. "Alright, that's enough, Neo. Remember, we're a team now, my dear servant." Once things had calmed down, Ruby turned to Jaune. "This is my personal servant, Neopolitan. She's mute, but her powers let her read minds and communicate telepathically. What you hear in your head is what she wants to say. It's her way of speaking."
"That's all well and good, but come on, I'm not going to believe you're demons." Neo unsheathed her sword again and pointed it at him. "Show some respect. You're standing before Ruby Rose, future Demon Lord, also known as Belphegor the III." Despite being intimidated, Jaune couldn't shake the feeling that they were just putting on an elaborate act. But Ruby had a solution. "It seems Neo's abilities aren't convincing enough for you. Allow me to demonstrate something else."
Her eyes glowed with a chilling light, and Jaune suddenly felt an intense cold creeping up from his feet to his waist. He tried to move, but his body refused to respond. His expression turned to one of terror as he realized he was turning to stone.
"Wait—what the heck?!" Those were his last words before he was entirely petrified, frozen in place with a look of horror on his face. Yang chuckled but wasn't cruel enough to leave him in that state. "Hey, Ruby, is he gonna be okay? He may be an idiot sometimes, but he's my friend."
Ruby stepped closer to Jaune and poked his petrified face curiously. "Don't worry, Yang. My curse is something I can control easily. I'll turn him back in just a moment. Do you believe me now, Jauney?"
She tapped his cheek as if to get his attention, even though he was still stone. "You can still see and hear me in this state, so just remember: if you make me angry, I can turn you to stone anytime." With that, her eyes glowed again, and Jaune felt the weight lift from his body. Gasping, he dropped to his knees, struggling to catch his breath.
"Holy crap, Yang, what have you gotten yourself into?" He asked, still shaken.
"That's why I'm here, Jaune. Alright, Ruby, why don't you take it from here?" Yang said, finishing her juice. Ruby's silver eyes gleamed as she continued, "Well, I suppose I should tell you why I'm here. You see, my dear mother sent me…"
(…)
In the grand yet disheveled quarters of the Demon Lord Summer Rose, an oversized screen cast a blue glow over the mess of snack wrappers, empty soda cans, and scattered game cartridges. Summer lounged before it, controller in hand, grumbling at her latest defeat. Her dark hair was a cascade of loose waves, framing her sharp, enchanting features, and her silver eyes glowed with a lazy mischief.
She wore an oversized black sweater that fell off one shoulder, revealing a hint of her toned, pale skin, along with ripped leggings and woolly socks that gave her a strangely relaxed but intimidating appearance. Though her title was mighty, her behavior was, at the moment, quite the opposite.
Neo, her assistant, was industriously attempting to tidy up the clutter, dusting here, picking up wrappers there, her face twisted in barely concealed distaste. Summer scowled as she tossed aside the controller. "Ugh, lost again. I've been on a losing streak lately, and it's really starting to tick me off."
Beside her sat her young daughter, Ruby, sipping a tall glass of milk and watching her mother with an amused smile. Ruby was a near mirror image of Summer, with the same red-tinted dark hair and mischievous gleam in her eyes, though softer and more innocent. "Seems like you're losing your edge, Mom," she teased playfully.
Summer sighed dramatically, letting herself slump back. "It's not just that, Ruby. I think it's because I'm lacking… affection. Normally, I can unwind with a few games, but lately, it's like everything's off-balance. I'm restless. I need affection… and care."
Ruby gave her a pouty hug. "Isn't the love of your daughter enough?" she asked, batting her eyelashes.
With a chuckle, Summer tapped Ruby on the forehead. "You know I adore you, Ruby. But your mom needs a bit of… grown-up affection right now. Adult things you wouldn't understand."
Neo cleared her throat. "If I may, Madam, remember that you have a husband," she interjected.
Summer's eyes brightened as if Neo had said something utterly new. "Oh, right! I forgot about Tai! I get so wrapped up in my games and… other pursuits, I forget he exists half the time." She laughed, though it did make her sound like a rather negligent Demon Lord.
"Well, anyway, I'm feeling… restless. And I can't have an innocent like you around, Ruby."
Ruby gave her mother an exaggerated eye-roll. "I'm not two years old, Mom. I know what adult stuff is." She took another swig of milk as if to prove her point.
Summer stretched with a lazy smirk and addressed Neo. "Neo, go to the human world and bring me my husband. And since we shouldn't waste a trip… I know Tai has another daughter, the one he had with Raven. I want her to form a contract with Ruby. Being Raven's child, she must be fairly strong."
Ruby's eyes lit up with excitement. "Ooh, that sounds fun!"
"So then, Ruby, go and become a strong demon with your sister's help. Love you, honey, Ciao!"
(…)
"...And that's how it all happened," Ruby explained cheerfully, looking up at Jaune with a wide-eyed smile. He was still staring, a bit dumbfounded by everything she'd just told him. "The Demon Lord is… kind of an idiot," he muttered under his breath, barely able to believe what he'd heard.
Neo gave a resigned sigh. "Don't misunderstand Madam Summer. Although she sent her daughter here for… well, for time with her husband, it is true that Ruby needs a contractor. It's essential if she's to become the future Demon Lord."
Yang rolled her eyes, leaning against the wall with crossed arms. "It's a hassle for me, Jaune. My dad went off to the underworld, so I'm stuck alone here with Ruby and Neo the… bitch maid." Neo shot her an icy glare at the insult, but they both managed to restrain themselves—for Ruby's sake.
"Unfortunately, we don't have a choice,"Neo continued, with a long-suffering sigh. "Those were Madam Summer's orders, and she's probably going to be with her husband for months."
Yang locked an arm around Jaune's neck, squeezing him playfully but tightly enough to make him struggle. "Since you're my best friend, you'll help me out, right?"
Jaune gasped, flailing. "Yang! I love you, but come on! I'm a weakling—I'm not cut out for this stuff!"
"Oh, please, you're the smartest person I know," Yang retorted, finally letting him go. "A nerd like you will definitely come in handy!"
Ruby watched them with an amused grin. "Heheh, you two really are great friends, huh?"
Jaune slumped to the floor, out of breath. He glanced up and noticed Yang's arm, marked with an elegant rose emblem. "When did you get that tattoo?" he asked, frowning in surprise.
Ruby explained, "That's the emblem of Belphegor—my family's crest, specifically. It's proof that Yang and I have a contract together."
Jaune blinked, intrigued but puzzled. "Wait… Yang's the type who avoids complicated stuff like the plague. Even if Mr. Taiyang asked her, I doubt she'd have agreed to all this willingly. I mean, she's not the brightest, but she's got some common sense."
He earned a smack from Yang for that. "Seems I'll have to teach you some respect, Jauney Boy. But you're right. I didn't want to make a contract with Ruby. Actually, I wanted nothing to do with demons." She softened slightly. "But she's my sister, my dad's daughter, and I'll help her out. I'll stay under contract with her until we find someone more suited to the role."
Jaune picked himself up, curious. "Someone else could form the contract?"
Neo responded smoothly, "Ruby will be the future Demon Lord. Only someone strong can be her contractor." She eyed Yang with a hint of impatience. "But yes, strength is only one factor—though a crucial one. For now, Yang suffices, but ideally, we'll find someone more suitable as soon as possible."
Jaune nodded, catching on. "So, you'll keep the contract with Ruby until you find a more fitting substitute. Got it."
Yang smirked in satisfaction, nodding. "And you'll help me with that, Jaune. We just started classes at Beacon Academy, so we're bound to find someone worth our time."
(…)
Yang was walking through the hallways of Beacon. Sunlight poured through the windows, flooding the place with brightness. Several students loitering in the corridor looked at her with a hint of fear; all wore the uniform of Beacon Academy. "Is that Yang Xiolong, the dragon beast of Signal? Ugh, she looks like she's in a bad mood." The girl's expression was serious and cold, dissuading anyone from approaching her. Yet two idiots, eager to prove their worth, stepped into her path.
"Hey, blondie, you're pretty sexy. Nice rack." Both of them leered at her crudely. Yang glanced to her right as if there were someone beside her, then turned her gaze back to the idiots, eyes fixed. "I guess it wasn't going to be that easy," she muttered. In one hand, she held a bag containing her belongings, and with a swift movement, she struck both students in the face, leaving them unconscious. "Idiots, at least get stronger if you're going to bother me; you're not worthy of Ruby."
Floating beside her was Ruby, visible only to Yang and some few, though she had been by her sister's side the whole time. Ruby was the best detector of strength, but, unfortunately, those two nameless fools weren't worth their attention. The blonde and her sister climbed to the rooftop, where they found Jaune eating his lunch. He always brought food from home to avoid the cafeteria. "Oh, you're here too, Ruby," he greeted her.
The demon returned his greeting with her typical adorable smile, "Hey, Jaune! Oh, that looks delicious. Let me have a bite." The poor boy had no choice but to share his food, still remembering when the cute demon had turned him to stone. It was a small price to pay to keep her happy.
Yang pulled a sandwich and a bottle of soda from her bag, sitting down on the ground next to Jaune, while Ruby devoured what remained of the boy's lunch on the other side. "Well, this is a hassle," the blonde girl remarked bitterly between bites of her sandwich. "All morning and we haven't found anyone worth our time."
"Well, I imagine you've only come across first-years like us. As Far as I know, no one in the first year is worth mentioning," Jaune replied. Beacon was vast, though; they were bound to find someone interesting eventually. After finishing her meal, Yang stood up and stretched her arms. "Ah, that was good. Well, knowing you, I imagine you've gathered some information, right, Jaune?"
"Of course. I'm not a bad friend, after all. I've been gathering intel these past few days, and I think I've found something."But before he could continue, a group of students entered through the door and surrounded them. "'Let's see if you can pull the same stunt you did earlier, you bitch," one sneered. Yang recognized the two idiots from the hallway, now backed by their friends. "It's always the same thing, huh," Jaune remarked, unsurprised by the situation. It wasn't the first time something like this had happened.
"Get out of the way, trash. How dare you bother Lady Ruby?" In a blink, Neo appeared and delivered a swift beating to the gang of losers, who fled in terror. "I brought you lunch, my Lady." The demon dashed over to her servant, embracing her in gratitude. "Thank you, Neo. Come on, Jaune, let's share as thanks for sharing yours."The boy wasn't expecting such kindness, but he couldn't deny it was nice. Besides, sharing a meal with a cute and charming girl was something any young man would enjoy.
"I gave them a beating, but maybe I should have killed them. Trash like that shouldn't be in the presence of Lady Ruby," Neo murmured thoughtfully. Jaune, alarmed, tried to calm her down. "That's not necessary, Miss Neo. Guys like that don't come back after a good thrashing. This is Beacon, where strength is above all, and practically every student here is a delinquent. And if you can read my mind, you'll know why killing isn't a good idea."
Jaune might not enjoy being at this academy, but he didn't wish death upon anyone. And Neo was rather terrifying; it was best to calm her down since something as horrific as killing would attract unwanted attention. "You have a point, Jaune. It's inconvenient to kill, and they're not worth the effort anyway. You're certainly cautious, which surprises me. Although my first impression of you was poor, I expected you to be just another waste of air, like the savage, uncouth Yang."
"You little bitch, do you want to fight that badly? As soon as Ruby isn't looking, I'll teach you a lesson," Yang snarled. Neo looked at her with disdain. "I'd like to see you try. It's incredible that you share the same blood as Lady Ruby. However, unlike her, you're a creature without class or manners."
Jaune was already getting used to this routine, while Ruby merely laughed. "Well, maybe we can arrange a fight someday. But for now, calm down, you two. Jaune, why don't you tell us the information you've found?"
Ruby's lunch was lasagna; it seemed Neo was an expert cook. Jaune tasted a bit before speaking. "Well, Beacon is one of the four great Academies in Remnant. However, since it's the only one that doesn't charge a cent and is government-funded, most of the people here are future criminals or folks you don't want near you."
The four great academies were Beacon, Atlas, Shade, and Haven. Beacon was essentially for the poor; after finishing at an institute, young people were required to attend one of the academies. Upon graduation, they'd be prepared to become useful adults in society. "For that reason, there are many people like Yang here, but under these circumstances, it could be considered a good thing this time. It may sound silly, but in my investigations, I discovered that there are six students who stand above the rest at Beacon. They're called the Six Pillars."
"Wait, really? I hadn't heard anything about this until now."Yang was visibly intrigued by this new information. Jaune continued, "I'm surprised. All I did was ask a few students, and that's what I found out. Marygold, Black, Belladona, the Malachite twins, and Valkyrie—the Six Pillars of Beacon. I don't know their exact order of strength, but I did find out where we can find one of them. Interested?"
Yang grinned with her usual confidence. "Now we're talking, Jauney Boy."
(…)
A group of students walked back from the cafeteria, drawing wary glances from those around them. After all, they were third-years. "Holy shit, that's Mercury Black. It's the first time I've seen one of the Pillars in person." One of his friends elbowed him to keep him quiet. "Shhh, don't talk so loud, or he'll hear you. He's pretty ruthless; they say his dad's a professional assassin. I wonder if he could beat Yang. I heard that the Dragon of Signal is pretty dangerous… and super sexy."
At the front of the group, three notable students walked with confident strides. "Did you hear that? Seems like the new students are all talking about that rookie. Maybe we should teach her a lesson right away," the first to speak was a burly young man with striking orange hair. "Don't tell me you're scared of a first-year's reputation, Cardin. I'll pound some sense into you if you keep acting like that. No weaklings in my group."
Mercury Black, one of Beacon's Pillars and the undisputed leader of this group, laughed coolly. "Heheh, little Mercury is right, Cardin. There's nothing to worry about—he can easily handle a rookie." The third speaker was a girl radiating an aura of style and sophistication. With her dark glasses and trendy cap, she looked every bit the fashionista. "I'm not scared, Coco. I just think it's wise to establish some respect among the newcomers. That's all," Cardin replied defensively.
Coco Adel seemed like the kind of person who didn't belong among delinquents. "Please. If a rookie tries to challenge us, it'd be obvious she's an utter fool. The Six Pillars are a big deal around here. I doubt anyone would be that stupid."
Blocking their path, however, was the very rookie they had been discussing. Standing beside her with a nervous expression was Jaune. "Shit, I told her where we could find him, but I had no intention of actually coming here. Yang, did you forget I'm terrible at fighting?"
Ruby floated beside Jaune, observing the group with interest. "Well, let's assess this guy." The demon glanced over at the third-years, and Yang grinned as she stepped forward. "Hey, hey, are you Mercury?" she called, pointing at the gray-haired young man with a playful smirk. Coco's eyebrow raised in surprise at what was happening. "Oh, so that's the rookie? I know I was talking smack, but damn, she really is an idiot… though I gotta admit, she's pretty hot."
Several students in the hallway watched the encounter with intense interest. Mercury whistled, clearly impressed. "Damn, are you Yang Xiao Long?" He approached her, looking her up and down. "Rumor has it you're scary, but you're a total babe." Yang was tempted to deck him right then, but she waited for Ruby's evaluation. "Yeah, yeah, I like what I see."
Before he could say anything else, Cardin placed a hand on his shoulder. "I know what you're thinking, Merc, but it's not good to trust someone that quickly." Mercury seemed to consider this for a moment. "True, if you're just a pretty face, you're of no use to me. You gotta be at least somewhat strong if I want you in my group. So, I'll leave this to you, Cardin."
Yang felt her anger rise; her thoughts toward Mercury were far from friendly. "Who the hell wants to join your group? I'm starting to think this is a complete waste of time." Mercury stepped back, allowing Cardin to face Yang. "I'll be your opponent, blondie," he announced with a dangerous grin.
"So, they want to test Yang?" Jaune thought, eyeing Cardin's imposing physique. "Well, that big guy called Cardin looks strong, and he seems to be Mercury's right-hand man. We have to assume these Pillars are powerful if they're at the top of Beacon. Provoking them too quickly wouldn't be wise." Living in such a dangerous place for someone weak, Jaune had learned quite a few survival skills. He knew well enough how to handle troublemakers.
Yang smiled, intrigued by the situation. "Well, I was getting a bit bored. Will you entertain me, big guy?" Cardin's expression darkened, but he managed a menacing grin. "You shouldn't have messed with the big leagues, you bimbo. I'll make you cry like everyone else who's gone up against me. So many weaklings have crossed my group and regretted it. You'll be the next—"
Yang's fist drove into his stomach, knocking the wind out of him instantly. Cardin collapsed to his knees, clutching his stomach in agony before he finally dropped face-down to the floor.
"No mercy, huh?" Jaune wasn't surprised by the outcome. Coco seemed to have underestimated the blonde. "It appears she's more than she seems. That was a hell of a punch—a single blow to the stomach took him out of commission. He'll be down for a while." Her grin suggested she wasn't too upset about her misjudgment.
Mercury began to clap slowly. "Not bad, blondie. You're not only hot, but also badass. I've decided—you're gonna be my girl from now on. Strong and sexy, just how I like 'em. Let's head to an empty classroom and get to know each other better, shall we?" He stepped closer, resting a hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry; we'll both enjoy this."
Yang paused for a moment, a cruel smile forming on her lips. "Looks like you're not the one." Jaune closed his eyes, almost pitying what was about to happen. "Huh?" Mercury hadn't realized the danger until Yang's fist slammed into his face, sending him flying back into his group. His friends barely managed to catch him as he staggered to his feet, wiping a trickle of blood from his nose.
"You bitch," he snarled, furious. "Catching me off guard like that, now you're gonna pay for it." He tore off his uniform jacket, sprinting toward Yang. As he closed in, he threw his jacket at her to obscure her vision. Coco, observing, murmured knowingly, "His Shadow Kick, huh? Blocks the opponent's sight for just a moment to ensure a deadly kick. His little finisher. Poor blondie."
Jaune flinched when he heard the impact. Mercury's leg had sliced through his own jacket, his foot crashing against Yang's face with tremendous force. "Gotcha," he smirked, but it faded quickly as Yang's hand gripped his leg firmly. "What?" Mercury's eyes widened. "Wait a second—you should be falling unconscious!"
Yang's smile was terrifying. "Idiot. That was a good kick, but I'm not some weakling who goes down from one hit." With a surge of strength, she lifted him and hurled him straight through the nearby window. "Go to hell, you perverted bastard!" Mercury's scream echoed as he plummeted, prompting a faint sense of pity in Jaune.
Everyone stood frozen in shock. "Someone call an ambulance, quick!" Cardin, still on the ground, gaped in horror. "Holy shit, she's a monster. No, wait… Mercury's probably dead!"
The only one who didn't seem entirely shocked was Coco. "Woah. This girl does not mess around. Seems like little Mercury picked the wrong person to mess with."
"Don't you think you overdid it a bit, Yang? Then again, we're not on a very high floor, so he probably won't die," Jaune said, slightly concerned. Yang shrugged. "I don't care. The pervert was staring at my chest the whole time. Damn it, Ruby, it took you forever to evaluate a weakling like him," she muttered irritably. Her sister just laughed happily. "It wasn't a bad show. And to be fair, he's not a weakling. Jaune's a weakling. This guy just wasn't up to your level, but he's still stronger than most here at Beacon."
Jaune couldn't argue with Ruby's point. "True. Plus, he took a hit from you. Most people can't do that." Even Cardin had been knocked out with a single punch. "Well, break's almost over. Let's head to class. Jaune, see if you can track down the other Pillars. I'll leave that to you."
