"You have to let me hide here" I say pushing myself behind the door of Arven's room
"What do you mean?" He says getting up from his desk
"Arven! Have you seen Dustin!" Nemona shouts from the doorway
"Uh no sorry, I think he was heading out with Penny somewhere"
"Nice, thank you I'll find them"
She races off towards the end of the hallway
"She been chasing you for training matches"
"We've battle 7 times since I got back from going to Alola with Ryan, I've only been back two days, Quaxly and Pawmi are exhausted plus I can't beat her"
He laughs and jumps up
"Well you can come with me and Poppy today, were titan hunting" He says clenching his fist and getting into a battle stance
I agree and we quickly meet up with Poppy who is waiting by the main entrance to the academy. We then head out imminently towards Levincia on the back of Koraidon and Miraidon. The open routes of Paldea are something deeply unique to the region. The rolling terrain dotted with patches of tall, golden grass swaying gently in the breeze. The grasslands are vibrant, a mixture of various shades of green and gold, with occasional wildflowers adding splashes of colour – soft purples, delicate whites, and vibrant yellows. The land is mostly flat, but in the distance, subtle undulations can be seen, giving the landscape a gentle, flowing appearance. As you look further into the distance, the grasslands begin to slope gently downward, leading your gaze towards the horizon where the sea meets the sky. The sea itself is a deep, rich blue, its surface shimmering under the sunlight. The waves are calm, creating a rhythmic, soothing sound that can be faintly heard from where you stand. The horizon where the sea meets the sky is clear, with the sky above being a bright, almost cloudless expanse of pale blue. To one side of the grasslands, perhaps in the far distance, you can see a few solitary trees or small clusters of them, their leaves rustling softly in the wind. These trees provide a bit of shade and a sense of depth to the landscape. The air is fresh, carrying the scent of the sea mixed with the earthy aroma of the grasslands. In the far distance, the outline of coastal cliffs can be seen, their rugged edges contrasting with the smoothness of the sea. The cliffs are a muted gray, softened by the distance and partially obscured by the haze where the sea spray meets the sky. The overall scene is one of tranquillity and open space, where the vastness of nature is on full display, offering a sense of peace and solitude.
"So what is the titan we are looking for?" I question as we come to a stop by one of the cliffsides
"We don't know really" Arven says jumping off the back of Koraidon
"We know its causing an electrical storm near Levincia, it keeps sucking all the power, Iono was getting really stressed on her last stream about it" Poppy says as she surveys the area
"Well what electric Pokemon are native to round here?" I question
"There's only really one" Arven answer pointing to the sky
High up in the air I can see a group of bird Pokemon circling around in the air
"Wattrell's all nest around here, you can see them swooping around here all the time" Poppy says hitching her backpack onto her back
"I see, so they can whip up storms with their wings, they seem a little small to do that?" I question
"Not them but these can" Arven says passing me his phone with the dex entry for Kilowattrell displayed
I read through it and take in the information
"So do you think maybe its burrowed into one of the cliffs?" I question
"What do you mean?" Poppy asks
"Well it says here, they burrow into cliff faces to make there nests, it would make sense that its in one of them?"
"Good shout little buddy, I knew bringing you along would be a good idea" Arven says with a huge laugh
"Well okay, I would think if there's a titan Kilowattrell around here, then the little ones and Wattrell probably nest with it, so we just need to track one" Poppy says pulling her phone up
We scour the grounds for a little bit before finally coming upon a single Wattrell on its own, we all quickly duck into some tall grass to not scare it away
"Dustin do you have any berries?" Poppy question
"Uh yeah, here" I say passing her a handful
She places a small little tracker into one of the berries and throws it over to Wattrell, it quickly scoops it up and flies off. We give it a few moments before taking off after it. It takes a while but finally we find a cavern entrance into the side of the wall
"Right Dustin, you and Koraidon go in after it and we wait up here ready to fight the titan when it comes out"
"What why me?" I query
"Well little buddy its simple, you're the new guy" Arven chuckles
"Fine" I mumble sending Koraidon out
"Can you scale with me on you back into that cavern?" I question
"Agias!" It calls happily as it beckons me to jump on its back
I jump on and Koraidon slowly scales its way down and into the cavern
"Find your way to the titan, we will track you from up here and then we will drop in on you" Poppy shouts to me
"Okay I guess" I shout back still on the back of Koraidon
I peer into the cave, its fairly bright which is nice, I spot the Wattrell from before, it sits picking away at the berries we gave it earlier
"Okay Koraidon lets just try to ease pass it so it doesn't let anyone else know we are here"
Koraidon slowly tiptoes it way further into the cave, its as we are just getting past it a huge gust of wind comes from deep in the cavern, it blows hard as Koraidon latches onto the nearest boulder to try and hold on, I grab a hold to it as hard as I can aswell. Assortment of sediment and rock is sent flying out from the cave alongside a huge black cloud that crackles with electricity. I look across and can see Wattrell is struggling to, I spy a huge boulder heading straight for it
"Koraidon quick, we have to save it!"
Koraidon leaps across to the other side of the wall as I dangle and grab it just in time for it not to be blasted away
"Watt!" It calls out
"Are you okay?"
The wind begins to die down as Wattrell tries to squirm away from my grasp
"No we aren't here to hurt you" I try to convince it but it begins to squawk and it flies down into the cavern
"After it Koraidon!"
It takes off after Wattrell managing to catch up, Wattrell sends off a few Thundershocks but Koraidon swiftly dodges each one, it only a while after we finally make our way into a huge cavern, sun light trickles down from above. Looking down into it, the only thing that can be seen is the huge figure of the titan Kilowattrell. Wattrell flies in close squawking hard into the face of the titan which grumbles sleepily, it wave it huge wing slamming Wattrell away
"Koraidon go!"
Koraidon leaps and I grab Wattrell again stopping it from hitting the hard wall
"AGIASSSSS!" Koraidon roars awakening the slumbering titan
"Nice work finding it Dustin!" Shouts Poppy who jumps down into the cavern with Arven
"Leave it to us to battle it buddy" Arven shouts as they run past me
He sends out his Cloyster which touches down while Poppy sends out her Tinkaton
"Tinkaton, Fake Out!"
Tinkaton boomerangs its huge hammer straight at the head of Kilowattrell who is stunned by the hit teetering backwards
"Shell Smash Cloyster!"
Cloyster pulls its shell over itself before parts of it cracks enveloped in orange energy causing its stats to boost
"Return Tinkaton, Flamigo go!"
Flamigo emerges and is enveloped in the same orange light as Cloyster was
"Oh Costar, that's cool" I say under my breath as I spot the Wattrell from before
Kilowattrell flaps its wings hard and air perforates towards us, Poppy and Arven grab a hold of some perforating rocks while I clutch to the back of Koraidon with one arm and hold the hurt Wattrell in the other
"Cloyster use Icicle Spear!"
"Flamigo, Throat Chop"
Cloyster sends off 5 long blue spears, four hit Kilowattrell making it call out in pain, Flamigo jumps high up and slams a spinning leg into the head of Kilowattrell slamming it into the ground causing more rocks to fall around us
"Quaxly go! Water Gun blast the rocks away!"
Quaxly emerges and fire off spurts of water blasting the rocks headed for Poppy and Arven
"Finish this up Cloyster, Icicle Spear!"
Cloyster powers up as Kilowattrell prepares an electric attack
"Flamigo, Upper Hand!"
Flamigo slams its head into the underside of Kilowattrell causing it to flinch and unable to attack, as it does Cloyster lets of 5 spears all of them connecting, this causes the titan to fall down to the ground unconscious
"Go Ultra Ball!"
Poppy lobs an ultra ball which connect, shaking three times before confirming the capture
"Nice, I can send that to Aunt Poppy's place to study"
The rest of the cavern is still shaking and rocks begin to fall at a faster pace
"Dustin, grab the chest of coins, Arven get the Mystica!" Poppy shouts
I rush up on Koraidon as she sends out Miraidon, I haul the chest onto its back while Arven plucks as much Herba as he can carry, Koraidon then sprints out of the cave towards the entrance, Quaxly slide down it neck and holds Wattrell securely while I clasp the chest of coins, Miraidon grabs hold of Arven in its mouth as we dash for the exit, we manage to clamber out onto the surface just as the cavern falls in on itself
I pant heavily as we make it out of the cavern falling down onto the grassy field
"That..was...way to scary" I mumble trying to catch my breath
"Nice work little buddy and you Quaxly really helped us out there" Arven shouts happily
"Lets see how many coins we got" Poppy says gleefully opening up the chest
"Ah what?! There's only like 100 in here!"
She flops back onto her butt frowning
"100 closer to 1000 though Pops, that's what 450 your at now?"
"443" She says glumly sending out her Gimmighoul
It calls out happily seeing the coins, it psychically lifts all the coins from the chest to its own before clasping it shut, Poppy then returns it
"Hopefully for the next one there's a bigger haul, thanks for your help Dustin"
"Its no problem, uh can we head to the Pokemon Centre, this little guy needs some help" I say holding up Wattrell whose head is spinning
"Oh yeah, there one up this way" Arven says waving his hand
We head of to the centre, I hand over Wattrell and explain what happened, the centre lady is very calm and nice, she gladly takes Wattrell and heals it up quickly, in no time Wattrell is hoping around happily with Quaxly
"Good to see your feeling better, sorry we dived in on you like that"
"Watt!"
"You're a cool little guy, do you maybe wanna come along with us?" I ask
"Watt!" It calls out happily
"Nice!" I say throwing up a Pokeball, it taps it on its head rolling three times before confirming the capture
We head back to school for now, Arven and I head off to get some food together while Poppy has a history class she is headed for, after a few hours I head on up to my room for the night as I have early classes tomorrow. As I settle down at my desk my phone begins to buzz, I pull it up and see the name Oscar emblazoned upon it
"Oscar hey how are you doing?" I says looking onto the blank screen
"Hey BZZT ca BZZT you hear me?"
"Uh yeah, where are you it really dark"
"Hang on"
A bright light engulfs the area and now I can see Oscar
"Hey Dustin! Can you hear me all the way from Granite Cave?" He says with a trademark big smile
"I can, so you decided to head out to Hoenn in the end?"
"Sure did, Professor Birch personally came to invite me so I couldn't say no, even gave me a new buddy" He says pulling a Grovyle into shot
"Grove!" It calls out
"Nice and its evolved already, your wasting no time"
"Well I decided that after losing there was no time to mop around, the next tournament qualification period starts up soon and I start as third rated so everyone is going to be coming for me, we have to be in tip top shape, that includes you too, I need my rival battling hard too!"
"Of course, I have my first school match at the end of this week so I'll be right behind you buddy"
We spend the next 30 minutes catching each other up on how things are going, Oscar has a Swellow, Hariyama and Surskit in addition to his Grovyle, I introduce Wattrell, Pawmi and Quaxly to him while I explain about the Pichu situations
"Huh a spiky eared Pichu? We got a whole bunch of those it Kitakami, there a huge pack of them in Timeless Wood, I'll speak to my Gramps and see if he has any ideas on it"
"Thanks that would be great, we'll let you get some sleep if your heading out to Slateport, I got early classes anyway"
"Thats true, take it easy buddy, see ya soon" He says signing off
"See ya"
I set my phone down and type away at my laptop before it begins to buzz again
"That knucklehead must have forgotten something"
I mindlessly tap it bringing up the call
"What did you forget?" I say before being stunned by the face
Its Louise, her face is bright red and eyes are filled with tears
"Oh hey uh is this a bad time?" She mumbles
"No no, are you okay?"
"Uh, can I start from the beginning?"
