Lance didn't want to hurt him.

He could never hurt him.

He knew the person in front of him wasn't his Keith, but he refused to fight back. He refused to hurt him. So, he protected and defended himself instead.

He didn't draw a drop of blood from Keith.

Come rest your bones next to me

The clang of swords was cut short as one went flying across the battleship. Everything stopped.

And toss all your thoughts to the sea

Lance stares as his defense slides off the edge and into the abyss. He looks over at Keith who is stalking towards him, a cruel smile playing on his lips. His fangs are on full display and his glowing yellow eyes are dull. He knew that he could never fight him, never hurt him.

He accepts it.

In an instant, Lance's back hits the ground and he loses his breath. Keith hovers above him. He pulls his sword back and Lance grunts as the blade lodges itself in his stomach.

My heart is buried in Venice

Lance reaches up and pulls Keith into his arms. A gasp leaves his lips as the witch's control abandons his mind. Lance holds him tightly, refusing to let him pull away to see what damage was inflicted. He struggled, but Lance never gave in.

This was best.

"It's okay, it's okay." He shushes the cries of the boy in his arms, "It's alright." His breath grows harder to catch and he can feel himself growing heavier.

My heart is buried in Venice

His grip around Keith loosens and the man pulls back as quick as he can, looking Lance over. His breathing is quick and panicked. Golden eyes and fangs are gone, replaced by shattered purple and tears.

Even when you try to hide it

Keith scans Lance's body, sobbing at his blade embedded deep in Lance's body, blood pooling around it. Lance reaches a shaky hand up and wipes away his tears. He smiles.

A smile creeps out from your teeth

Keith sobs, "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry, Lance." Lance's smile never wavers, his eyes full of love and forgiveness.

I never thought that I would have to say I'm sorry

"It's not your fault, Keith." Lance tries to pull him closer, his strength almost gone. Keith drops himself into Lance's arms once more and holds him in a tight hug. "Not your fault."

For anyone but me

Keith sobs into his lover's neck, his soul torn to shreds and heart shattered. Lance holds him, whispering about how much he loves him into his ear.

Now my heart is buried in Venice

Lance's voice quiets and his arms fall from around him.

"Lance?"

Waiting for someone to take it home

"Lance?" Keith pulls away and stares at Lance's blank expression.

Keith's shaky hands reach up and gently cup his face, "Lance?" he whispered, voice breaking.

His chest tightens and tears flood his eyes. He drops his head to Lance's chest - silence.

Keith grips Lance's arms, "Don't leave me, please. I'm sorry." Keith struggled to breath and his voice became frantic, "Please, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry."

He screams, he lets his grief and rage mix together into a singular shout that echoes across the battlefield. Tears blur his vision and he pulls Lance closer to him, refusing to let go. He whispers apologies into his neck, crying as it grows colder.

Don't leave me to breath

"I didn't mean to."

Don't leave me to bleed

"I'm sorry, please don't leave me."

For someone who chose to leave me be

"I didn't want to hurt you."

My heart is buried in Venice

Waiting for someone to take it home
