NYPD Blue: Moments after Season 10: Episode 15: Tranny Your Gun - Original Air Date: February 18, 2003

Andy Sipowicz and Connie McDowell stood in the embrace, their bodies finally relaxing into the comfort of each other's arms. After the tension between them, the shared understanding that their disagreements over responsibilities—her focus on her niece Michelle and his feeling left out—no longer mattered felt like a weight had been lifted. They were still adjusting to living together under one roof, but they knew that, together, they'd navigate it all. The stakes were too high to stay angry at each other.

As they pulled out of the embrace, Connie suddenly remembers the dinner she'd made for them. as the aroma of the food waft from the kitchen. "Are you hungry? You must be starving," she asked, her voice warm.

Andy, always a little slower to show his emotions, looked at her, his eyes lingering on her figure. Tonight, especially, she looks amazing. The dress she wore clung to her curves in a way that made him briefly forget the weight of the world. "I really don't have much of an appetite right now," he replied in his gravelly voice, but there was a flicker of a smile on his lips.

Connie returned the smile, and her fingers brushed against his, an invitation he took without hesitation. They began walking toward their bedroom, their steps slow and deliberate since Michelle is asleep in the other room.

Andy whispers softly, "What do you have in mind?"

Connie's voice drops to a teasing whisper as she wraps her arms around him. "Remember when I said Theo is down at Joey's and that we're picking him up at nine?"

"Yeah?" Andy answered, eyebrows raised.

"Well, how about we take advantage of this alone time?" she said, her words dripping with suggestion.

A slow smile spread across Andy's face as he placed his hands on her waist, pulling her closer. "Want to remind me how that goes?"

Connie's smirk deepens. "I think something like this," she said, and before either could say another word, their lips met.

They stumbled into the bedroom, the weight of their usual responsibilities—parenting, work, the constant juggling act—pushed aside for the night. In that moment, reconnecting with each other was the only thing that mattered.

Moments later, Andy lay under the sheets, wiping sweat from his forehead, feeling a sense of contentment he hadn't experienced in a while.

Connie steps into the room, now wearing a pink robe, her beauty undeniable as she moves towards him.

"How's Chelle?" Andy asks

"She's still out like a light," Connie replies with a small smile. "This is the most sleep she's gotten in a long time." She closed the door behind her, her eyes meeting him.

Connie's voice softened as she sat on the edge of the bed. "She's been through so much—losing her mom, her dad's role in that, being born premature... I want to protect her. She deserves more than what life's given her so far."

Andy could hear the raw emotion in her voice, and it made him ache for her. Her dedication to Michelle was beyond anything he'd ever expected.

Even in her robe, Andy couldn't help but admire her. Despite the twenty-year age gap, despite the differences they'd both worried about, at this moment, none of it mattered.

He cleared his throat, shifting to sit up as the words he had been holding back started to spill out. "Connie, listen... what you said earlier about me not doing my share with her..."

"Andy," she interrupts softly, her eyes locking with his. "We just made up. Let's not go back down that road, okay?"

Andy nods, but his sincerity didn't waver. "I just wanted to say that I'll help out more around here, with Michelle, with everything. We're raising both Theo and Michelle as brother and sister, so that makes us a family. And it's not fair that it's all on you."

The detective had been reminded not to take his relationship for granted as a result of a case he was on today hence why he took John's advice and after work he went down to the vendor to get Connie's favorite flowers and a box of chocolate.

The certainty in his voice wasn't lost on her. She looked at him carefully, her eyes searching for something deeper. "You really mean that, Andy?"

He gave a small nod, clearing his throat once more. "Yeah. And when you go for custody, I'll be right by your side. You won't be doing this alone."

Connie reaches out to squeeze his hand. "I really needed to hear that, Andy."

Andy glances at the clock on the bedside table, noting that they had an hour before they needed to pick up Theo. He didn't want to rush, but his stomach was starting to remind him that he hadn't eaten yet. "Would it be a bad time if I say I'm hungry now?"

Connie chuckles, the sound light and genuine. "No, I think we worked up an appetite. How about I bring us dinner in here so we can enjoy what's left of our time before real life resumes?"

Andy grins, glad to see her smile again. "I like that."

Connie rises out of bed and slips back into her robe and heads toward the door, but just before she leaves, Andy calls out to her, his voice softer this time.

"I love you," he said, a vulnerability in his words that he didn't often express. "I know I don't say it as often as I should, but I appreciate you more than you know."

Connie pauses, her heart swelling with emotion. She turned back to him, her voice just as gentle. "I love you too, Andy."

With that, she stepped out of the room, leaving Andy to soak in the warmth of her words. As they both prepared to face the world again
