"Yo, Kagamin. I think I asked this before but maybe I didn't."

Konata was laying on the sofa, stealing Kagami's favorite corner yet again, forcing her onto the floor to read the newspaper. Given her vocation, Kagami was spending less time reading novels and more time keeping up with the news.

Konata was spending less time reading novels and more time reading manga.

Provided she was putting her due work in on the housekeeping and cooking(it hurt her ego to admit the twerp was better at it than she was…) she couldn't bring herself to vocally chastise Konata's brainless entertainment choices. Kagami was dressed in proper pants and a trendy jacket with the cold in mind. Konata settled for short shorts and an old tank-top, idly kicking her feet back and forth in the air as she skimmed the art and definitely was paying next to no attention to the dialogue on the page."What's up?"

"We're dating, right?"

"I'd hope so. We share the same bed so it'd be pretty weird otherwise."

"And we've been dating for like…eight years, right?"

Kagami sat up, annoyance falling over her expression leading to sheer exasperation.

"Try eleven years and you'd be correct." At the cusp of Kagami's twentieth Birthday, finding an apartment close enough to travel to their respective Colleges was a nightmare, all for Konata to not even utilize her degree because streaming was more profitable.

"That's a pretty long time, so I gotta ask, why haven't we gotten a same-sex partnership certificate? The Wedding wouldn't be official but you'd look great in a Wedding dress."

The abrupt compliment snapped Kagami out of her easy-Sunday stupor, her cheeks tinting a bit as she corrected her posture, setting the paper down. Konata had turned head, giving her full focus.

"Well, I mean, it's not that I don't want to, but…" She recalled home memories talking it over with Tadao, and found herself sighing wistfully.

"They understand the situation and all, but the Hiiragi family really, really wants grandkids to inherit the Shrine…"

"That's stupid."

"What do you mean, stupid!? You may not care about the whole Shrine Maiden thing beyond the outfits, but to my family that means-"

"Easy, girl! I mean like…you only have sisters, if one of you had a boy, would that even count?"

"...Well I…It would figure that…"

"You don't know, huh?" That irritating smile.

"I do-probably! Otherwise why would Dad make such a fuss about it?"

"Maybe he just wants a son-in-law?"

"How do you figure that?"

"It's not like he got to raise a boy at home, so…"

"Having a grown-up son-in-law is not remotely the same thing as raising a child yourself. You know that, right?"
