Chapter 1:
It's just another day
I wake up to my alarms blaring in my ear, and the sound of my brothers getting ready for work like any other morning. I drag myself out of bed and to the shower. I wash my long black hair. I feel the excruciating pain along my body that my brothers gave me the night before. Out of the shower, I grab my towel and pat my body dry as my body hurts tremendously. I go ahead and let my hair air dry as it will take too long to dry it with beauty gadgets, so I let the summer breeze assist with that process.
I walk back to my room, choosing an outfit for the day. I decided on a pair of black ripped jeans, an old grey t-shirt and dad's AC/DC sweatshirt. After my parents died in an accident I went through their things and kept a handful of items: clothing, jewelry, paperwork, and pictures. I then sauntered towards my mirror to cover the handprint my brother mason so graciously gave me.
Just as I cover the mark on my face. I flashback to what happened the evening before. I came home from school 20 minutes late thanks to Iris and her friends. They took my bag and dumped it all over the courtyard. I ended up having to pick it all up which resulted in me missing my bus and had to run home.
I ran home and to my surprise both Mason and Aiden were home waiting for me on the couch. As they stood up they both yelled " RI where have you been ,you're 20 minutes late!" Mason then chimed in, "now dinner is going to be late." as he slaps me with enough force for me to fall to the ground and he continues to kick me. I curl up and cover my head to protect it.
I snap back to reality when Mason, my oldest brother screams my name in a distasteful tone. Rolling my eyes I respond "on my way down." picking up my bag I ran down the stairs waiting for the inspection. I know that is coming. Mason comes and stands in front of me to inspect my face." nice cover up RI." he taunted. With my head down I whisper "yes sir thank you." Mason just looked at me with a wicked smile. He moves aside and I run out the door and down to the bus stop.
Jayden and Carter are waiting for me." good morning RI." the guys said in harmony. I smile at my best friends "good morning boys." Are you ready for Friday? RI it's tomorrow ." Jayden commented as we loaded up on the bus. "JJ you know me i do not celebrate my birthday especially since my parents passed. For me it's just another day." I replied, waiting for a response. " Ri it's your 18th birthday, it's the day you're supposed to shift for the first time. You're supposed to be excited ." Jayden said, disheartenedly surprised .
As we got to the school. "JJ I know I love you ,but shifting is the least of my worries right now ." I replied sadly. Jayden and Carter hugged me . " We love you too Ri, just remember we're always here for you, ok."Carter murmured in my ear. I smile and wave to them as I walk the corridor. I spotted flora, she's my girl best friend. I see that she is surrounded by Iris and her posse of bimbos.
I walk over and step in front of flora and look at Iris "hey i didn't know they allowed packs of blobfish on the premises , i thought this was werewolf school." all of my peers that were lingering are laughing and flora is giggling behind me. I grab flora's arm and lead her down the hallway.
"Ri where did that come from,and what the hell is a blobfish?" flora said shockingly. While trying not to giggle too loud.
"Flo I honestly don't know , but a blobfish is the UGLIEST, the most horrendous looking animal alive." I snickered and we started walking as we laughed at what just happened.
"Ri how are you doing today?" She asked. She is the only person who knows what happens at home. " I'm sore." I whisper with a frown on my face. While thinking about what happened just last night.
Flora and I walked to our first class of the day. Unlike human schools we don't have regular classes. We are headed to a pack training class where we learn to protect ourselves and our pack. Not all of us go off to be warriors. We just have to know how to protect ourselves in case of emergencies. We arrive at class and sit in our seats.
The alphas' son is our instructor today. He's 17 years old and his birthday is tomorrow as well. Theo is 6'5 with deep green eyes that are looking into the forest tree line and deep olive tan skin tone and raven black hair funny enough theo and I look like twins ,the only difference is our eyes mine are a steel blue grey as his are a deep forest green mine are like my mothers and apparently super rare in our world and theo's are like his fathers.
"Listen up, future warriors." Theo booms through the crowd of students. Today I will be pairing you up for some one-on -one combat." "We are doing this to find your strengths and weaknesses,find your strengths and use them, find their weaknesses and play with them." he said gazing upon us.
"Riona, focus on your…." theo shouted as I crumbled to the floor due the shot I just took to the ribs. "Flora took her to the nurses office." "she doesn't look ok." he spoke with worry in his voice. "Ok class we're done for today, remember everyone needs to be at the pack house tomorrow." he reminded us. "Flora take me home NOW please." She didnt question me.
My brother and I go to the pack house to Talk "well they have to talk and i have to help set for the arrival of the alpha of the silvermoon pack. After hours of helping the other she-wolves decorating the pack house. My brothers found me. "Ri lets go now." i winced as mason spoke. I dropped my head and acknowledged "yes sir." As we got home, Aiden demanded dinner, and i head to the kitchen and make dinner which consisted of stuffed chicken, fresh fruit, steamed veggies and a beverage. We rushed to finish dinner so we could get ready for the party.
I decided on an olive green dress, and beautiful gold strap heels and my mothers beautiful gold necklace with a wolf inside a rose pendant. I did a subtle makeup look. I brushed my hair and braided two smaller sections that connect in the back. And with 15 minutes to spare.
"Riona you're taking forever." "on my way aiden." I rushed down the stairs and to the car. The drive felt longer than it actually was due to the silence amongst my brothers and I. we walked into the pack house and the halls were packed full. every member of the pack was here. I quickly went looking for flora. Even though it would be nearly impossible to find her in this sea of people.
Then alpha donovan tap his glass, and cleared his throat and he spoke "I alpha donavan mateo summers will be stepping down from my title as alpha and my son theo zander summers will be taking my place. Please give him a hand." as his voice carried through the pack house. Everyone starts to cheer.
A few moments later I'm being dragged out of the foyer by Aiden who is gripping my arm so tight that I can feel the bruises forming. My attention snaps to the amazing smell that lingers, the smell consists of pine needles ,clove,vanilla and citrus ,but I have no clue where it's coming from. Im brought back to reality as im slapped across the face by aiden
With a sniff of the night breeze i could smell the alchool on him so i knew i was in for a rough night of pain and torture and of course Mason is just as trashed as Aiden. They drug me to the parking lot. We stopped and with wicked smiles on their faces. It started punches and kicks and I dropped to the pavement and it felt like it broke ribs, collarbone and leg. I start to give in. I hear a voice, but my eyes are too blurry to see. "Get away from her, get away from my mate, SHE'S MINE." as he growled. It all stops and I take a deep breath as everything goes dark.

The worst has yet to come
I stand behind the alpha of the bloodstone pack, After a long morning going over alliance paperwork with him and his son. He starts to speak to his pack members.
