"Lilith?"

Lucifer blinked his eyes, sure he had woken to his ex-wife lying next to him. But now the space next to him was empty as usual. He frowned and ran a hand through his hair. Must have been a trick of the light.

He got out of bed and quickly got dressed, making sure his hat was straight before leaving the room.

As he walked down the hall he paused. He could have sworn he'd heard Lilith's humming. But that was ridiculous. Why would she be at the hotel? She'd been gone for years anyway. Why would she come back now?

Lucifer sat in his bedroom, head in his hands. All day, he had been seeing Lilith everywhere. Sometimes, it felt like she was back then she'd disappear again. He didn't even know what was real anymore.

He didn't raise his head until he heard the door open. He groaned as he saw it was Alastor.

"What do you want?"

"Charlie noticed you had disappeared," Alastor answered, twirling his microphone as he walked closer. "She sent me to find you and make sure you're alright. Though allow me to say, you don't look alright."

Lucifer rolled his eyes. "No shit."

Alastor glared, his radio filter thicker when he spoke. "As much as I hate you, I feel like now would be the time to ask why."

The king sighed. "I just don't know what's real anymore. Are you even real or am I just delusional about you actually caring about me for once."

Lucifer went back to his silence until he felt something hit his head.

"Ow! Did you just hit me with your stupid microphone?"

"I did," Alastor replied, nonchalant as ever.

"Why?"

"To prove I'm real. I'm here and I hit you with my microphone, which was very satisfying, mind you. As for caring, you may be delusional. I don't care as much as you think."

"Then why are you still here?"

"Charlie asked me to make sure you are alright and you are not. Also, this is sad, even for you. Frankly, I'd prefer you to be less pathetic. It makes you more fun to fight with."

Lucifer rolled his eyes. "You're insufferable."

Alastor sat next to him. "So are you."

The king chuckled. "Guess I am." He sighed. "Besides you, I still don't know what's real. I keep seeing things that disappear moments later. I feel like I'm not even real anymore."

He continued his rant until he felt something touch his hand. He went quiet as he looked down and saw Alastor's hand on his.

"Al, what are you doing?"

"Helping. You can feel me, I'm real. I can feel you, you're real. Easy."

Lucifer smiled, entwining his fingers with Alastor's. "Thank you."

Alastor hummed. "Don't get used to it."

"Why not? We're besties now, aren't we?" Lucifer teased.

The deer demon scoffed. "Not even close."
