The end of the world was something in which Sonic has become pretty familiar by now. From gods who wanted to destroy the planet to scenarios that disrupted the laws of reality. And yet the blue hedgehog had never felt so anxious and under pressure as he did now.
The metal virus that Eggman's successor, Dr. Starline, had released onto the world, was completely out of control. And if that wasn't bad enough, the platypus mobian brought the Deadly Six into play in a desperate attempt to regain control of the matter. The Zeti surprised Starline and conquered all of Mobius with the metal virus.
And despite all their efforts and plans, despite the fact that the heroes already had six of the seven Chaos Emeralds in their possession, one final, huge problem now stood in their way. Zavok mutated into a giant by the power of the purple emerald and pelted Angel Island with Zombots and fireballs. The last bastion of the uninfected was threatened to be quickly overrun. Everything depended on the trio consisting of Sonic, Metal Sonic and Silver.
Silver used his telekinesis to maneuver himself and the six Chaos Emeralds through the air, avoiding flying Zombots and boulders.
Metal Sonic flew with his jet, carrying his organic counterpart with him, although that might soon no longer be the case. The metal virus had taken a toll on Sonic and he could feel it absorbing more and more of his body. He was tired. All he wanted to do was lie down and go to sleep. But the speedster shook off his tiredness. No, he couldn't give up now, not just for his own sake, but also for everyone who sacrificed themselves for the good of others.
Shadow, Omega, Tangle, Team Chaotix, Cream, Gemerl and many others. Sonic gritted his teeth.
No, he definitely couldn't give up now!
"Let's not waste time, full speed ahead!"
"This is your last show of resistance? This is all you can muster?" Zavok ripped a mound out of the ground and threw it at the trio. "Pitifull!"
They flew under the projectile and were finally in close proximity to the massive Zeti. He swung one of his fists at them, but a turquoise aura stopped it.
"Silver, be careful not to drop the Emeralds!"
"Don't worry about me. Just get the last one," the white-gray hedgehog managed. Despite his words, it was clear that he was using his telekinesis to the limit and it was straining him greatly. Metal Sonic quickly realized what was going on and channeled more energy into his jet. Its output increased and both blue hedgehogs shot towards Zavok at top speed. And directly into the flames that he spewed from his mouth.
"No!," Silver shouted, believing he had lost his last allies and hopes for a better future. But when the flames died down, it was revealed that Metal Sonic had completely blocked the attack with his Black Diamond Shield.
"Boy, am I glad Tails and me decided against dismantling you," Sonic remarked with relief and an exhausted smile. His robot doppelganger looked at him briefly, then flew further towards Zavok. But the Zeti took a deep breath and let out fire again. Metal Sonic summoned his crystalline shield again, but this time the force of the attack was so strong that the duo were thrown towards the ground and crashed into the earth.
Sonic stood up, his head throbbing. He looked around in search of Metal. But he could only see the debris of the airship around him, that Dr. Starline, and then the Deadly Six, had used it as their base to spread the Metal Virus.
"Oh hey, its Sonic." Said person looked to his right. He spotted Cubot and Orbot trapped between the rubble.
"That infection doesnt look good. I suggest you stat running."
"Yeah... thats not really working much anymore…" Sonic said, the metallic sheen of the virus covering almost his entire body. Only his face was free.
"You misunderstand. I mean run from them."
Zombots appeared between the ruins of the airship and staggered towards Sonic. If even one of these unnatural figures were to grab him and increase his infection, it would be over. Sonic looked around hastily, hoping to find an escape route. When the Zombots were only a meter away from him, Metal Sonic burst out of a pile of rubble and pushed the nearest Zombots aside. He then grabbed his organic counterpart and floated with him high enough in the air to be out of reach of all the infected. The robot stared questioningly at the hedgehog.
Breathing heavily, metallic veins already crawling across Sonic's face, he managed to get out, "Metal… up…"
The mechanical hedgehog understood. It flew up Zavok's leg, up to his chest, where the last Chaos Emerald was. The leader of the Terrible Six, who had been trying to snatch Silver out of the air the entire time, stared down. His eyes narrowed.
"Accept your fate, Sonic! You have lost…" growled the red Zeti. He turned his gaze to the blue figures that were rapidly climbing his body. More precisely, the mechanical ones. "… and all machines are mine to control!"
Electromagnetic pulses, enhanced by violet Chaos Energy, were expelled from Zavok's body. Limb and inactive, Metal Sonic fell into the depths. But he had given the real Sonic enough of a boost that he could now run up Zavok's body himself. It took every bit of determination in him to keep up the pace. Meanwhile only the left side of his face was free of the Metal Virus. Blackness crept at the edges of his vision and everything gradually lost its definition. Sonic felt his thoughts slipping away.
There, a violet glow! It cleared the blackness a little, helped Sonic to focus. He had reached the last Chaos Emerald. He clung to it, trying to pull the gem from Zavok's throbbing flesh with the last bit of strength he had left. He didn't even notice Silver flying towards him with a grim expression on his face, Zavok's huge claws right behind him. What Sonic noticed was the loud PLOOP! as the Chaos Emerald finally came loose and he fell into the depths along with the gemstone. Only Sonic's pupil was free and alive. It looked up at Silver, who held out his hand. All seven Chaos Emeralds were now in the turquoise green aura of his telekinesis. Then everything went dark as Zavok clapped his hands together...

only to have them be forced apart again by a huge, golden flash of light!
The giant Zeti stumbled back several steps, staring in disbelief at the two hedgehogs he was sure he had crushed. But no, they were alive. Even more than alive!
Super Sonic's form glowed golden, the Chaos Energies of all seven Emeralds had burned the Metal Virus completely out of his system. Super Silver, who was a paler shade of gold, first stared at his and Sonic's new form in disbelief, then grinned excitedly and hopefully.
"All right. Ready to save the world?" he asked the other hedgehog mobian.
Sonic replied seriously: "One sec. Let me take care of him first."
Zavok, overcoming his surprise, growled in frustration. He was so close to winning, he wasn't going to lose now! Flames erupted from his mouth as he raised his fist and declared, "WITH THE LAST OF MY STRENGTH, I WILL CRUSH YOU-!"
Sonic interrupted him by performing multiple Spindashes across Zavok's entire form, neutralizing the remaining energies of the purple Chaos Emerald inside of him. Without this, Zavok shrank to his original size and fell into the depths.
"That seemed a little anti-climatic," Silver remarked to Sonic, who had reappeared next to him. The golden hedgehog just grinned.
"We don't have time to be fancy." He pulled out the Warp Topaz, which Metal Sonic had stolen from Dr. Starline and given to the Resistance. It was sparking an buzzing with all the Chaos Energy present. "Especially since the Warp Topaz doesn't look like its handling all this power too well. Ill drive and handle the warp portal. You handle the rest with your psychokinesis."
"Got it!"
The two Super Hedgehogs flew high in Mobius' atmosphere and opened a portal. With his greatly enhanced telekinesis, Silver began to extract the Metal Virus from all organic life on the planet. Humans, Mobians, plants, regular animals, all were gradually freed from their metallic prisons. Silver even pulled Zombots out of the sea or other dangerous places before healing them. He sent the entire mass of nanomachines through the portal that Sonic controlled with the Warp Topaz.
"Ngh! Its working! Were exactly are you sending it?"
"To a place where it can hurt anybody ever again... into the heart of the sun!" Sonic replied. "But the Warp Topaz isn't going to last much longer! Hang on, were kicking it into Super Sonic Speed!"
Siver nodded at him. Sonic grabbed him and they flew at top speed all over Mobius, draining it of the Metal Virus and sending it through the portal into the sun, where every single speck was incinerated.
Eventually the duo found themselves back over Angels Island. The flying island and the landscape below was a vibrant green. Yet they could barely see it trough the twisting of reality of the overcharged Warp Topaz. It was getting harder and harder to hold on to.
"H-h-how w-w-were d-d-doing S-S-Silver?"
"I-I-Im n-n-not d-d-detecting a-any m-m-more. W-w-were d-d-done!"
Sonic closed the portal and raised the Warp Topaz. The rounded gem vibrated and pulsed like crazy, energy crackling loudly around it. It was completely overloaded with the power of all seven Chaos Emeralds.
"T-t-time t-t-to g-get rid o-o-of th-th-this-!"
BOOM!
A massive explosion echoed across Angel Island. All the humans and mobians who were had been wildly celebrating their healing and rescue up until this point looked up at the sky with concern. A strange light from a golden-bronze to greenish color flickered there. A figure shot away from the light, thrown away by the force of the explosion. It was Silver. He slammed hard into the ground of Angel Island, his Super Form flickering, and then completely dissipated. He was rubbing his aching head when someone called his voice loudly.
"Silver!" Amy, Tails and Knuckles rushed towards the white-gray hedgehog. They looked at him worriedly. "Are you alright? Is it over? What happened?!"
"Its… its over. We pulled away every bit of Metal Virus and destroyed it. But Tails, you were right with your hypothesis…" Silver stared up at the light in the sky. "...combining the Chaos Emeralds and the Warp Topaz has devastating consequences for the fabric of space-time. Sonic has already disappeared through that... rift. And I think…"
Before Silver could finish his sentence, the glowing rift pulsed in an unstable manner. It got bigger. Growing rapidly and sucking Angel Island into itself. But that wasn't all. When the gold-greenish energies of the rift reached the Sky Sanctuary Ruins, they came into contact with something there. An obelisk and some kind of gear near it, made of ancient technology and forgotten in the ruins. This technology reacted with the new energies and emitted red glitches that connected to the rift...
Meanwhile…somewhere on the Starfall Islands…
At the end of a narrow gorge was an identical structure. And in front of it stood none other than Doctor Ivo 'Eggman' Robotnik. After his defeat in Null Space, the megalomaniacal doctor found himself stranded on the remote and unexplored Starfall Islands. He had spent the years there, isolated from the rest of the world and trying to research the technologies there. With nothing more than the scrapped Phantom Ruby Armor, some materials from his inventory, and the natural resources of the islands, Eggman hadn't exactly spent his time there in luxury. His mustache possessed streaks of gray, his clothes were dirty and rugged, and there were slight scars on his face, a reminder of the Spike Wisps Kurtis, who had contributed to his defeat.
But despite all this, Eggman grinned. He stared with visible pride at the disk-shaped device in his hand, emblazoned with his symbol.
"A lesser man would have perished here, but not only did I survive and explore the secrets of this place, but I was also able to put together my latest masterpiece! With it I will make the technologies of the ancients mine and use it to reclaim the world upon my glorious return!"
With these words, Eggman placed the device into the rounded recess of the obelisk. The machine suddenly activated and connected to its network. Soon, all of the islands' technologies were reactivated.
"Yes, yes! It works! Its all coming online. The Ancients secrets will be mine!" Eggman laughed out loud. But his joy was cut short when reality itself began to glitch. What's more, a mixture of Warp Topaz energy and red, glitching energy began to seep out of the Obelisk. Reality itself began to flicker and, like Angel Island, was absorbed into the rift. Confused and worried, Eggman looked around before turning to the devices on the obelisk.
"Status report. Answer me! Whats the meaning of this?"
"Simulation complete." A monotone, female voice spoke. "Unknown dimensional anomalies detected. Activate protective initiative."
"What? No! NO!" Eggman lunged forward and grabbed his newest creation. He tried to pull it out of the obelisks, in the vague hope that this would return everything to normal. But instead everything only got worse.
The flickering energies absorbed the device and its creator. Then they spread rapidly. Just like Angel Island, all of the Starfall Islands were consumed by the rift and disappeared from this world.
Then the unstable, multidimensional rift collapsed in on itself and everything seemed to have returned to a deceptive facade of normality.
So yeah. Here we are. The sequel of my SonicXRWBY crossover. Hope you like the start and setup. Ive always felt like the whole Warp Topaz overloading and Sonic crashlanding on another world thing had been a bit of a miss in the IDW comics. So I wanted to use it here for the reason the events of Frontiers of Speed are happening. Of course, here not only Sonic got isekaid but thanks to certain tech on Angel Island and a digital dimension, Remnant will experience quite the surprises.
Now I thing I have to say is a change in the upload schedule. Unfortunately, due to how busy and packed my private life has become, I wont update this story weekly, like Forces of Speed, but at the end of every month. I know this isnt something many will like but it is the only way of having a regular update rate while keeping it balanced with the rest of my life. I hope despite this that many will still enjoy this story because Ive got ton of ideas for this.
