It is the year 22XX in Sydney Australia on a Wednesday evening when five glowing green emblems of the Spirit of the Absolute Fabric appear in a back alley. The five glowing symbols turn into energy balls that become brighter and brighter before a naked Uzi, Doll, N, V, and J emerge from them onto the concrete before the energy disappears. "Did it work?" Uzi asks, walking around, her upgrades having given her a more human-like body.
J uses her systems to find a signal and connect to the web. "Yep. According to Earth time, we are five years before Cyn destroys the planet."
"Right. The first order of business is to find some clothes. As much as I would find it funny for Uzi to be approached by the humans who would mistake her for a sex bot variation of a drone, we have more important things to do," V states.
Uzi looks at herself and frowns at them. She does find it annoying and RPG gave a happy stare the entire time before they left. But still, how does it make it embarrassing for her? She's a robot. "Okay. Clothing store then. Where can we…?"
"Hi, there!" N cheerfully greets a passing surprised human. "Do you know where we can find some clothes?" he asks happily to the shocked human at the sudden interaction.
Doll and V just facepalm before the human pulls a knife. "Oh, I can get so good money from your parts," the human says, going to stab N before J grabs him by the wrist and pulls him into the alley out of sight before killing him.
"N, put this on and stream to us what outfits you see in the nearest clothing store. We will pick for ourselves," J instructs, stripping the body and giving N the clothes while Uzi takes the pistol they found on the corpse with a chuckle.
N salutes with a smile. "Sure. I'm up for anything," he says happily before putting on the large coat, almost similar to what he had before, and walks out into the streets to find the nearby clothing store if any.
"Should we eat the body?" V asks. "Or just leave him here as it looks like a mugging to me," V adds.
"Cross-referencing…yeah. He is from a gang. Leave him here. No one is going to do too much," J says, cross-referencing his tattoo and finding it is a gang tattoo.
"You sure you can use the JCJenson codes and hacking upgrades you got to locate the facility of Project: Ascension?" Doll asks, stealing money and things out of the guy's wallet as she stands up, showing she also has the same upgrades as Uzi does.
"Yeah, cross-checking now…found the police report. The only neighbor home that was broken into near the Elliot mansion matches what we know. One destroyed worker drone and one fourteen to fifteen-year-old victim was killed a few nights ago. Meaning they wouldn't have been able to kill RPG yet," J informs.
"Glad RPG didn't undershoot us. I didn't want to try and intercept the scan of him before he was shipped off the planet. After all, RPG had to suffer to just send us back in time," Uzi states as they get the streaming from N as he pursues what they had. In the end, Uzi instructs him to get the blank black female hoodie and black beanie, Doll gets him to get a red skirt and top, V the jacket, and J frowns as the closest thing she sees to her liking is a black long jacket. It would have to do for now. N buys the clothes, paying from the mass of credits they were able to collect from Copper-9 before they left.
"Right. While you search, we will check and see if we can find any good places we can rent autonomously. We will need a place to treat him and a lot of medical supplies if they start to work on him," V says as they wait for N to return.
"We should have plenty of credits for it," Doll states as they wait in silence before N finally shows up.
The sounds of the dying are heard in the facility. Not the normal ones from the experiments, but from fighting as the defenders try desperately to stop those attacking them while they try to get word to the company they are under attack but all communications have been jammed.
"Where did these bastards come from?! Who the fuck sent them?!" someone yells, trying to shoot out into the hall where these murderous and weapon-wielding drones are firing down from. "Fuck! No other company is supposed to have the tech to do this!" the human yells as he keeps firing before he is empty. He groans, tossing the gun away before grabbing a pistol from his holster to fire down the hall.
"N, quit playing around," J calls before firing a missile down the hall.
N frowns a little, trying to adjust his missile. "Yeah. I know," he says before reaching out his arm around and firing off a shot. The two explosions only let them hear the sound of pained yells and screaming for backup. "He should be in the same place…right?" he asks, looking at J as she keeps a human pinned against a table while connected to a terminal computer.
"Yes. Besides him, the rest are to be liquidated anyways," J informs, making the human's eyes widen. He knew what that meant and that no help would be coming for them even if they somehow managed to contact the company.
Uzi smirks, powering up her gun as Doll throws many knives down the hall to spear many who were unfortunate to be leaning out at that moment. "All I need to hear," she says smirking, stepping out into the middle of the hall and aiming down it. The green glow only brightens and blinds those down the path before the energy blast shoots out. The large powerful shot blows through the hall, melting off any doors and walls in its way while leaving nothing left in its direct path. Even the humans are melted to nothing but dust or even less than dust if they were that lucky. The railgun shot even hits the other end of the wall and keeps going through it until it stops and leaves a tiny hole, barely able to squeeze through for the last thing it hits. "Fuck, I always wanted to use this against these humans," Uzi cheers, giving herself a fist pump.
"Well, some dreams come true," V says sarcastically before slicing off the head of the human J has pinned. "Come on," V says before unfurling her wings and changing both hands into swords, taking off down the corridor. She is taking a lot of pleasure in this for multiple reasons. It has taken days for J to find this place and every second means that RPG would be suffering. She is going to be his avenging angel tonight.
"Testing room or cell?" Uzi questions, looking at J as they run down the hall. At times, any of them shoot or throw something that kills any living humans left. Not even any unarmed workers or scientists are left behind.
"Last update. Initiate trial…fifty-seven," J sighs, already thinking of the pain and suffering that RPG or the human that was him is going through.
"Red room then," Uzi groans, picking up the pace. But it is N who is barreling forward past them all. He even blows past V as he clotheslines a human getting up with a hard punch to the face to send him spinning around and smack against the ground. "He's taking it hard," Uzi notes, looking at J.
"And Doll is hot on his ass," J adds as Doll follows as close as she can. Anyone who survived somehow or has the misfortune to be in her way does their best impersonation of a pincushion with dozens of knives impaling them. Soon N comes to a door that he remembered quite well and starts hacking at it.
"Move," Doll instructs, activating her solver powers and starting ripping the entire door and even parts of the wall out as red light starts to stream into the hallways with the sounds of groaning and twisting metal.
The others finally catch up in time for Doll to twist and rip the door off its hinges. They duck and move to the side as the crumbled piece of metal slams around before stopping near them. But now the red light is covering all their faces and vision. But also the screams. They couldn't hear it at first. But with the door off, it is now clear. The painful and unending screams of a human. A younger human than the ones they are fighting.
Inside, they find the same image when they were in the Copper-9 facility. But now the central chair is facing a wall of moving images and pictures that seem to make no sense to them. But that, coupled with the electricity buzzing before them makes them realize their intended victim is being electro-shocked at the same time. They even see the writhing body in the chair as he is strapped to it in almost every possible place while eyes remain open with some tools. And those screams…if they didn't know any better, they would think it's Cyn attacking the planet again.
V immediately sets on the scrambling scientists, going for the one with a bloody scalpel first and putting her claws through both sides of the body, and starts tearing the scientist in half. She draws this one out so they would suffer more before dying. Uzi joins in, going full solver form and tearing them apart, easily acting out one of those vampire movies she had watched on them. N even uses both his arms to fire missiles into the viewing windows and blow them wide open, killing any by the explosion or debris.
J surprisingly doesn't join in as she and Doll make their way to a console and start to work, immediately shutting off the electric shocks before analyzing the victim's profile. Reading through it, they see that they found the target who is acquired from the same address as RPG's home and J sees something else that infuriates her. 'Subject acquired by request of board members James Elliott and Louisa Elliott.' It has been them all along. They are the ones who sentenced RPG to his fate. Oh, they would pay for this, but for now, they have other work to do. "Doll, he has a medical implant linked to his neural network. They installed it right before all of this so you should be able to install the shard into it to upload the Spirit of the Absolute Fabric's code into his nervous system. Looks like we don't have to think how we will be uploading that into him after all," J informs.
Doll nods, rushing over to the now unconscious human as N, after shooting the last human, starts to remove everything he can from the person. Doll feels around the head before finding a metal area that has some slots in it just behind the ear. Doll looks at the shard before inserting it, hearing the click and low hum emanate from the body. "Please work…" she whispers, gently holding the human's hand, but only feels the occasional elocution-based twitch.
Looking him over, there are many burns, cuts, signs of stitching back the flesh, and many more that would most likely leave scars. His finger and toenails have all been forcibly removed, whether by being pulled or cut out is very hard to tell because of the red lights. His head has also been completely shaved with burn marks on his scalp from the electric shocks they have administered to his head. Every moment Doll looks at the body that would have become RPG hurt and fueled her rage. The only thing placating it now is the sounds of V and Uzi torturing the scientists behind her.
"How long does it take?" Doll asks, worried now as J walks over. N just holds the human's other hand and feels the shaken and uneven light breathing.
"I don't know, but we have to leave soon. We need to get him back to the place we prepared to tend to his wounds," J informs, opening up the backpack that Doll has on and bringing out a white medical blanket for the naked and badly injured human. "It's time to take him home," J says, starting to wrap him up in it carefully so he feels as little pain as possible before picking him up bridal style. "You two finish up. No more time for satisfaction. Now is the time for the important stuff," J informs.
"Done…" Uzi seems to hiss as she prepares her railgun for another shot. V just frowns, clenching her bloody claws as they quickly out the door and deeper into the facility to cause major damage. Doll and N stay right behind J, providing backup any way they can while J keeps carefully carrying the human. Their trip is less eventful due to all the dead bodies and blown open doors. The missile explosions and railgun fire are the only things echoing back at them as they leave. But it's all the better for them as they exit out into a corridor that opens into a packed parking garage.
Already, J has things mapped for them to follow for where they need to go. A quaint little place she already researched and paid for. They just have to get there. Hopefully, civilians don't care about drones carrying a wrapped human flying in from the rooftop.
As they fly away, the emergency protocols they activated kick in and the entire facility goes up in a blaze, destroying everything including data and most of the backups.
The four fly in, carrying their passengers as they land on the rooftops. They have avoided the lights for the most part as they have traveled across the city. The human didn't rouse once in the entire flight. J would be lying if she said she wasn't concerned at all, but she had to get him to their prepared area first. Walking in using the authentication code they got from the front desk, J connects to the door and enters the code '5555872648123' to open the rooftop door. The five walk down the stairs to a small private hallway with a well-kept carpet leading to a door. N moves ahead to open it as J has her hands full.
Inside, the group enters a very lavish, sleek, and almost bare metal apartment, hardened concentrate handling the entire floor. A very tall and open place where large tall windows and metal beams are holding up the ceiling. A recessed floor in the middle leads to the couch and large TV while wood panels fit the area. A little nook and cranny sits in the corner where a little computer and workshop are while a small upper metal walkway area has tilted box shelves filled with many books and magazines. A long floating table is situated on the wall on the other side where the bar bottles and food plates are for the dining and bar combo table. A simple pool table sits near the far corner of the place, looking out into the tall and futuristic city. The upper floors placated with a metal walkway changed into a place for the only bed in this place and some boxes and tables near it. The walkway also leads to the main bathroom for a large shower only piece to the side and a large mirror toilet too. The only other room is under it one step below to find a kitchen area and some storage space for anything else.
J carefully walks up the stairs to the bed. A large king's bed with four very fancy and soft-looking pillows sits in the middle of the area. Besides the bed are IV stands like they requested. J lays the human down and slowly unwraps him from the medical blanket. She then starts to prepare him and installs the IVs into his arm like the medical program she had downloaded instructed her to have laid out. Outside of the red room, it is obvious that the boy is suffering from slight malnourishment and dehydration on top of losing a good deal of blood judging by some of the dried blood wounds on him. They haven't fed or given him anything to drink since kidnapping him from the looks of it. The rest of the group soon come up the stairs to join her, bringing an IV of fluids and nutrients which they quickly hook up both to the IVs to start to put in him.
"We need to get his blood type," J says, getting out a prepared syringe. She quickly draws the blood as Doll applies the bandage to the wound. "V and N, take this to the blood bank near here and get it tested. Then bring back several packs of this blood type," J instructs, handing N the capsule with his blood in it.
N and V nod before they run out the door. Uzi then frowns, remembering another factor. "He's still human. Which means he could be hungry once he wakes up. So…" she trails off.
J blows a puff of air out in some annoyance. "We'll go together. Pick up some food and drink supplies. And oil for the rest of us. Doll, you can stay here and keep cleaning him up," she orders, making her nod, and starts to grab more dressings and cleaners to fix whatever she can.
Cyn walks the halls as best she can. She had been in the Elliott mansion for days now. Tessa has done what she could to repair her, but she can't fix her completely. She hates it here and she hates most humans in general now. After awakening from being killed, she finds she is no longer the same with strange powers and a growing sense of disgust for those around her. She wants to also find out what happened to her charge. She looked after him for eight years. Seven alone, protected him from the world after his parents had died in that accident. He is her's and no one else's. She woul…Cyn's thoughts are interrupted when she hears the sound of smashing glass against the wall. She looks to the side to see that it has come from the office of James Elliott. Moving closer, she decides to listen in, hoping that something bad has happened to him.
"All that money, All that research just gone!" Cyn hears the bitch Louisa Elliott rage, obviously throwing a tantrum as she would like to do when something doesn't go her way or someone disobeys her even slightly. Cyn herself may have been a bit controlling by her admission, but she is nothing compared to this bitch. She allows her ward to go out at times and doesn't chain him up if he misbehaves or makes a mistake. She also actually spent time with him all the time. Something that Cyn has come to notice is that neither of them did with Tessa unless to yell at her or so they could use her for something.
"I am just as upset as you are dear and the police are investigating the site because someone activated the emergency protocols. We should have built it somewhere in the outback, but no, we would lose some of the disposable workers to the animal out there," James Elliott adds.
"It's obvious someone took it down. They also must have some connection to one of the board members. Probably one of them covering their tracks so we wouldn't even vote on it at the next meeting. Well, if they think they can cheat me out of immortality, they have another thing coming. Project: Ascension will continue one way or another!" Louisa Elliott raged.
Cyn takes note of that. What is Project: Ascension?
