"Wow. It took me a long time to find you."

I looked up to see Uzi standing in front of me.

"Why are you here?"

"Well, mostly because N won't stop blabbing, but also because… Effort shouldn't go to waste. And clearly, you made an effort to come here."

"Why bother going back? It was a mistake just coming here. I can tell no one wants me here."

"You can't read minds."

"I can read faces. And bodies. And actions. Every tiny detail says paragraphs."

"What do you mean?" Uzi said, crouching down next to me, a railgun strapped to her back.

"People give away more than they think outwardly. Eyes, body movements, et cetera."

"How do you know about all this?"

"I read. Everything."

"You should teach at my school."

"What." I looked Uzi in the eye to make sure she wasn't kidding.

She wasn't.

"You should teach at my school." she repeated.

"Why?"

"Look. My dad built doors, and everyone called him a hero. For building doors."

"Doors that made sure you wouldn't die."

"Whatever, they were still doors. If people learned what you know, imagine how much less depressing this town would be."

"They don't want a disassembly drone- a murder drone- as their teacher."

"They learned to deal with N and V. Besides, who cares what they want?"

Uzi got up and started to leave.

"If you change your mind, you know where to find me."
