Distraction
Out in the middle of nowhere on Ryloth, Anakin and Obi-wan kept up a steady pace as they ran across the red plains. They had left their group of Clone Troopers behind so that they could get to the storehouses quickly and they knew the group of soldiers were not that far behind them.
As the two Jedi Masters started to climb one of the hills a familiar voice halted them, "Well, well Master Kenobi. I've missed you and you brought along your little pet, Skywalker."
Obi-wan and Anakin looked up to see Asajj Ventress standing on top of the hill with her red lightsabers activated.
"Ventress, I hope it wasn't a challenge for you to find us," Obi-wan greeted with a small smile, "After all, Ryloth is quite a large planet," he added in amusement but no smile appeared on Ventress's face.
"Ventress," Anakin growled aggressively as he activated his lightsaber and moved into a ready stance, the memory of what she did to his Padawan so many years ago coming to the forefront of his mind.
"Now surely there is no reason we can't be civilised about this," Obi-wan suggested as his former Padawan and the Night sister stared each other down.
"Not likely," Anakin growled as Ventress somersaulted through the air towards them with the two red blades crossing each other. The younger of the two Jedi Masters blocked the blow from underneath and pushed the lightsaber blades away and Ventress landed on her feet behind him. Anakin whirled around to face her before aiming a side slash at Ventress's right side which was swiftly blocked by her lightsabers.
"Jump in anytime Master," Anakin groaned as Ventress pushed harder on the lightsabers.
"Oh no my pet, I'm enjoying this far too much," Obi-wan said in amusement, and then when he received a strong glare from his former Padawan he sighed, "No sense of humour."
The older Jedi Master activated his lightsaber as he jumped towards the fight and aimed for Ventress's left shoulder. Ventress had just enough time to kick Anakin in the jaw causing him to stagger back slightly and then turn to block the blow from Obi-wan.
"Care to explain why the Empire is interested in Ryloth, my darling?" Obi-wan asked as he swung his lightsaber around to now aim for Ventress's right leg which she blocked easily.
"Oh my dear Obi-wan, you haven't figured it out yet?" Ventress teased flirtatiously as she striked with her lightsabers independently only to get blocked easily by the Jedi Master.
"Unfortunately not, perhaps you could enlighten us, Ventress," Anakin snarled as he rejoined the fight with a sweeping strike aimed for the Night Sister's legs which she jumped over.
Meanwhile, Daly and Kai arrived at the location of the coordinates that had been sent by Kayli to find a slightly horrifying site. One of the buildings was starting to be encased in out-of-control flames.
"How much do you want to bet that they are inside that building?" Kai asked in a mixture of amusement and concern.
"I'd rather not admit it, but I'd bet my lightsaber on it," Daly responded as they both ran up the slope toward the burning building. As they rounded the side of it to the entrance, they found it blocked by flames.
"Damn it, how are we going to get inside?" Kai asked as his voice started to show his heightened worry.
Daly glanced up at the roof as an idea came to him, "Follow me," he said confidently as he jumped up onto the roof, followed shortly by his friend. The two of them ran across the roof until they could feel the presence of Kayli and Ashlyn directly below where they were standing.
"Get ready to lift the piece out of the ceiling, we don't want it falling on top of them," Kai ordered as he started to slice a circular hole in the durasteel and as soon as he finished Daly used the Force to lift the piece of metal, only to let it fall next to the hole. They looked down to see Ashlyn fighting a Sith below them and then before the Sith somehow detached his double-bladed lightsaber, turning it into two single-bladed lightsabers. At that precise moment, Daly activated his lightsaber and jumped down through the hole. The Jedi Knight managed to block the strike that would have stabbed his wife in the gut.
"Daly," Ashlyn gasped in surprise and relief. Seconds later, Kai had landed close by only to go and help Kayli with her fight. Ashlyn got to her feet quickly and moved in to help when needed but Daly was doing relatively fine on his own as he drove the Sith backward towards the other group.
Both Sith were tiring quickly from the smoke, heat, and amount of energy that was required to fight two opponents at once. Suddenly Kai managed to get through the other Sith's defenses and slashed him across the face twice, down and across.
"Taevo!" the other Sith yelled as he used the Force to push Ashlyn and Daly back so that he could run to his brother's aid, pushing Kayli and Kai away as well. Upon reaching Taevo, the Sith lifted him so that one of his brother's arms was around his neck.
"Good luck getting out of here alive Jedi," the Sith snarled as he used the Force to pull in the ceiling which crumbled almost immediately as he walked out of the wreckage unscathed.
The Jedi used the Force to stop any of the debris from falling directly on top of them, soon they were surrounded by rubble and fire.
"Ash!" Daly called to her as they closed the gap between them and hugged each other in a strong embrace. Then they started to walk through the rubble as they attempted to find a way out.
"Ash! Daly! Over here!" Kai called out to them and the two Jedi Knights followed their friend's voice to find a gap in the fire. The four Jedi stumbled out of the wreckage, taking in huge gulps of fresh air.
Daly pulled Ashlyn into a tight hug as he was filled with relief that they had both managed to get out of there alive, "What were you thinking Ash? Going in there without backup," he inquired in worry.
"I'm sorry Daly, we should have waited," Ashlyn apologised into his chest.
Daly leaned back slightly and held her face in his hands softly, "I'm just glad that you're safe," he whispered gently as he pressed his lips to her forehead.
