What seemed to be an easy escort mission, turned to be a nightmarish trip through Madness Road. We not only had to deal with the common bandits, but we also met a lot of crazed mages and Templars. I bet two pints of the finest beer in all Three Marches, that the things just will get worse in no time. I wonder what my contacts would think about this, the only thing is that for sure they will ask me to pay close attention to this area.

The thing seems to be very big; and since the beginning, it looked hard to contain it in a small area. What disturbs me more is what the refugees told me about what happened in Kirkwall, was actually true! I sent one of the boys to check it. Grim, usually, is not easy to impress; and he was appalled by what he has seen in the so-called City of Chains. Even though the Aqun-Athlok, named Aveline, is doing a good job trying to keep the order, the place is a total chaos! Neither a dragon attack could have devastated that place to such an extent.

The Martial Law did little to stop it; if someone who lives in the city doesn't start a riot, the Templars, mages, or both at the same time, do the job. Grim tried to find out why Basalit-an Hawke hadn't done anything to stop that, but it seems that she disappeared shortly after the Chantry blew up. Smart girl. The Templars want to kill her because she is the symbol of the rebel mages, and the mages want to recruit her as their leader.

I left one of my contacts there, with the instructions to keep an eye on this place, especially, in her inner circle - or what's left of it. My guts tell me that this is only the beginning.

Vocabulary.

Aqun-Athlok - Someone who doesn't follow his/her gender role and takes the opposite one.
