Bonnie and Mr. Brakin's choice

*Kim and Bonnie*

After watching Ron Stoppable doing some breakdown dance with their teacher, Mr. Brankin's girl scout group, they enjoy the rest of the get-together until, at some point, they all decide to leave with Bonnie getting Kim's attention, "K, can I talk to you right quick?"

Kim shifts her attention to Bonnie and responds casually, "Um, sure, Bonnie. What's the stitch?"

Bonnie takes a deep breath, knowing that what she is about to discuss will not be easy, but she has a plan she wants to see through, so there's no turning back now. "Okay, you know how you said you somewhat understand being in my shoes?"

"Yeah, and I meant that. Sure, I might not still know everything about you, but at least if need be, I know how to handle you when it comes to your grudge towards me." Kim states not sure what Bonnie is trying to do with the topic.

Bonnie lowers her head in shame as she gives her explanation. "That's what I was about to address. From what you know, I'm Queen B, the girl who feels I should be the cheer squad leader on top of the food chain and wants to prove that I'm better than you. Deep down, that persona is because of my sisters, as you have seen a bit of how they treat me. That's what caused me to be how I was, and I thought being like them was the way to go. However, after being in your shoes, you are known for being able to do everything. You are just an average girl, yet you can do things a normal girl couldn't do, which is one of the few reasons I have been jealous of you."

Kim can't believe her ears, for her rival admits that she is jealous of her on top of hearing about Bonnie's sister. At this point, Kim needs to proceed with this conversation cautiously to avoid Bonnie backing down on being open. "Jealous? I thought you didn't like me."

"If I have to be honest, I don't have a legit reason to not like you other than wishing I had your life, but I can't because I'm not Kim Possible." Bonnie expresses annoyance at the idea of being unable to reach Kim's current status.

Kim sighed, gaining more of an understanding of who Bonnie was and why she was the way she acted. If it wasn't for her sisters, would Bonnie act differently than how she is now? "Bonnie, you shouldn't have to focus on being like me; you can still be great as yourself without being mean to others. Also, I'm sorry your sister treats you harshly, and I can understand how their influence rubbed off on you over time, but their way isn't the best to proceed in life by putting others down. If you take that energy and make it more positive, I know you can stand up to your sisters and have people like you for you in your life."

Bonnie progresses what Kim said, and as much as a part of her doesn't want to admit it, she is right about her sisters and herself; therefore, she is now determined to prove that she can be more than how her sisters view her and a person. "I get that now, which is why, as much as it's going to be hard for me to do, I want to change from the person I originally was while proving that I can be better than you but go about it better. Can't let our rivalry go down that easily." Bonine slightly smirks.

"This is the most I've ever heard you sound like this, Bonnie, and I think it would be great for you to go through this change and show the world that you can do anything regardless of how much it takes to get there. As long as it's more on civil turns, I don't mind keeping our competition going." Kim smirks back, liking the idea of being on more friendly terms with Bonnie.

"Thanks, but I need your help, so I'd like to request two things." Bonnie raises two fingers in response.

Kim squints her eyes, having a gut feeling she might not like what Bonnie's head is at. "Depends on what you are asking."

"One, I want us to try to be friends. Considering our history, I know that's shocking, but it will help my transition. Of course, we would still have our rivalry but a more friendly one instead of a grudge type." Bonnie states with no second thought. At first, when making the decision, Bonnie was totally against it, but realizing that it wouldn't be easy to make the change within herself on her own, it would be better to get help from Tara and Kim.

Kim's eyes go huge over her first offer, not expecting that. She was not entirely against it, considering it was Bonnie who mostly had the issues with her, so it would be an exciting change of pace to see what a friendship would be like between the two. "I'm open to that, and if it would help you, then what teen hero would I be if I don't try to assist with your issue."

"It's Funny you mentioned the hero gig because that leads to the next thing... I want to join Team Possible," Bonnie says with a warm smile.

This time, Bonnie's request nearly makes Kim pass out of shock, not believing Bonnie is interested in signing up on the team. "Are you serious!?"

"Duh, if I'm going to prove I'm better than you, then there are qualities I need to bring to the table, and honestly, it was fun going on that mission against de mentor, whatever his name was, so I'm down for more." Bonnie pleads her case. She knows it will take some convincing to get Kim on board, but Bonnie is confident that her persuading skills will come through.

"Bonnie, what Ron and I do isn't just for fun, and it's too dangerous to bring you on board like that," Kim argues, ignoring the idea that this is all a plot for some scheme Bonnie is cooking up. How can she possibly think that it would be that simple to be part of Team Possible and go out taking on villains?

"Haven't there been a few occasions that I was able to help you despite not having the experience like you?" Bonnie raises an eyebrow with her arms folded.

Kim briefly thinks about it and can count on her hands the number of times Bonnie has helped her, intentionally or not. "Yes."

"So what's the issue? Unless I was wrong about my thoughts about you?" At this moment, Bonnie attempts her version of the puppy pout on top of the guilt trip from her case.

Kim growls with frustration over the use of her signature move. Of course, Bonnie has a few points, but Kim isn't entirely sure how she feels about adding another member to the team, especially when it's her rival. With that said, Bonnie is genuinely trying to change, and this would be the best way to make sure she isn't lying about it. "Ugh, okay, I will give you a chance to officially join the team. However, I have two requests that must be met."

Bonnie sighs as she should have seen that coming, but she will try to meet Kim's requests. "I guess that's fair since I did the same to you. What are they?"

"For one, you have to commit to a training schedule. You are already in shape, so I'm not concerned about that, though we would need to teach you skills and how we handle missions."

"Sounds simple enough, and believe it or not, I have been starting to take self-defense classes recently." Bonnie shrugs.

"Good because when it comes to missions where fighting is involved, you would need to be able to defend yourself. Regarding the second request, you have to show that you are trying to change, or otherwise, I will think this is one of your schemes towards me, which means... you have to be nice to Ron." Kim smirked, causing a shock reaction out of Bonnie, but not for the reason Kim thought.

"That's not going to be a problem right? Especially if you are trying to be my friend, you should know that Ron comes in as a package deal." Kim teases slightly, extending her hand for a shake, wondering if this will be the final straw that makes Bonnie back down from this deal.

Surprisingly, Bonnie accepts the handshake, confirms the deal, and says, "So not the drama."

Despite taking the deal, Kim can sense something is off concerning Bonnie regarding Ron and wants to probe for more information about it. "Come to think of it, why do you have a problem with Ron? I can understand our beef, but I never fully understood why you don't like him and go out of your way to be mean towards him when he tries to be nice to you when he doesn't have to do so."

"I'm not ready to go into that fully, but I can go out of my way to attempt to be friends with him," Bonnie says, looking down.

"Whenever you are ready, you can be open with me; otherwise, this could be the start of a beautiful friendship," Kim says, realizing that it's best to hold off on discussing Ron for now.

"I agree. Well, we better get home; I will see you tomorrow K... Kim." Bonnie winces, hoping that she doesn't offend Kim.

Kim softly chuckles before saying, "Yeah, you too, Bonnie and you can still call me K. Just no calling Ron a loser or anything like that." Bonnie nods in agreement, and both teens leave for their destinations, with Bonnie's thoughts occupying Ron.

"I wonder how Ron will react to this crazy news." Kim thinks to herself as she heads home, still processing everything related to Bonnie Rockwaller between yesterday and today.

*Insert theme song*

Ooohh yeahh yeah

I'm your basic average guy, and I'm here to help save the world

You could stop me

Cause I'm Ron Stop-pa-ble

There are some things I can't do

But when danger calls

Just know that I am on my way

It doesn't matter where or

When there's trouble

If ya just call my name

Ron Stoppable

Call Kim, beep Kim if ya

Wanna reach Kim

But if ya wanna page me, it's okay

Whenever you need me, baby

Call me, beep me if ya

wanna reach me

Call me, beep me if you

wanna reach me

It doesn't matter where doesn't matter when (unless I'm in Bueno nacho). I will be there for ya till the very end

Danger or trouble, I'm there on the double. You know that you can always call Ron Stop-pa-ble

Ron Stoppable: Never be normal

Call me, beep me if ya

wanna reach me

*Ron and Mr. Brakin*

While Kim and Bonnie were conversing, Mr. Brakinn pulled Ron to the girls' side to have an important talk with him. "Stoppable. Now that we have walked in each other's shoes, I think it's time for me to clear the air with you on why I'm always so tough on you."

In shock, Ron looks at his teacher and jumps to conclusions, shouting, "So it's true you did have an out towards me. I knew!"

"Calm yourself, Stoppable, but honestly, yes and no." Mr. Brakin answers in a severe tone.

His teacher's response confuses Ron even more about why he harasses him. "Um, could you explain, please? Thank you."

"Yes, I am hard on you specifically because, unlike most normal students, you don't show any signs of care for your school work, which bothers me a lot," Mr. Brakin begins to explain.

"Why?" Ron asks, now genuinely wanting to know more.

"Because I see so much potential in you to be better. If you can survive missions with Possible, then I know you are capable of succeeding in school. I would expect Kim to push you, but she tends not to go in on you as hard as she could, so I make it a point to do so." Mr. Brakin expresses this in a way that Ron could understand.

Ron would never have thought that Mr. Brakin would care to notice all that in him and assume all this time that he didn't like him. "Well, if that's the case, why have you never told me this before instead of always giving me extra homework and detention for any reason?" Ron questions with his arms folded.

Mr. Brakin rubs his head with frustration before responding. "At some point, I thought you would find it in yourself to want to have better for yourself, but you haven't displayed that; however, I can understand that my previous approach was probably not the best way to go about trying to improve you. So, I present a new option: allow me to be your mentor."

"Mentor?" Ron asks, making sure he heard his teacher correctly.

"Yes, Stoppable. What this would mean is instead of giving you extra work for no reason and harassing treatment, I take you under my wing and help you find the motivation to improve yourself and your grades. That way, you can graduate and have a brighter future. I ask that you do your part and keep your usual act in front of your peers. Don't need them thinking I went soft." Mr. Brakin offers, not fully believing this idea would work, but it is better than nothing.

At first, Ron only thinks about the benefit of not dealing with the unnecessary work and detention by taking the deal but starts to picture a future where Kim and the students all pass school and graduate while he stays behind the school for who knows how long. It honestly scares Ron and makes him wonder why he hasn't taken school seriously up to now. For now, he brushes those thoughts aside and decides his choice. "If it means no more detention, count me in Mr. Brakin." Ron gives a mock salute, which annoys his teacher, now mentor.

"Don't get it twisted; you will still get that if you are not on your best behavior, got it?" Mr. Brakin growls, reminding Ron that he still means business.

Ron quickly straightens up and shouts, "Yes, sir!"

*Later that night with Ron and Kim*

With both critical talks ending, Kim and Ron meet at KP's place after a quick mission to stop Drakken and Shego from another scheme, which is not the drama due to Ron telling Kim about the announcement that he has to attend his cousin Ruben's wedding. To Kim, the news doesn't seem bad until Ron explains that his little cousin Shaun will be there and how, in the past, he tortured Ron, so he would rather not deal with him at the wedding by not sitting at the kiddie's table.

As the two devise a plan to deal with his evil cousin, Kim has a random idea that could help. "What if you brought a date?"

"A date? Well, it would bring an element of surprise, but I've been down this road before." Ron recalls when he asked different girls out and never got lucky with them. There was Zita, but they didn't even make it far to consider that a past relationship. Yori is in Japan, so that wouldn't work. Recently, he discovered that Tara had a crush on him, but he is currently dating Josh Mankey, who ironically was dating Kim at one point.

"Kim." Ron glances over at his best friend, his mind coming up with a safe proposal, but before he can get it out, Kim stops him with her crazy idea.

"Wait before you say anything. I know someone you could bring, which goes with what I need to talk to you about." Kim says, getting Ron's mind to shift on who she has in mind.

"Oh shoot. Go ahead, KP. I'm all ears." Ron leans in to give Kim his attention.

"Well, the short story is we might have a new member for Team Possible, and I might set it up so she can be your date for your cousin's wedding." Kim begins throwing Ron off for a loop.

"Really? That's a lot in one go, but I would not have an issue with having an extra hand on the roster. So, who is this person you are referring to?" Ron asks while trying to process whether they might be getting another team member who happens to be a girl.

Kim shyly readies herself to break the news to Ron. "Bonnie."

Hearing the name makes Ron confuse even more. "Bonnie... is that someone from Global Justice?"

Kim does not expect to receive that response, and she is unsure whether to laugh or be annoyed by it. "No, Bonnie Rockwaller from school."

Ron stares blankly at Kim, his brain slowly catching on to the fact that his best friend has told him that the one girl who can't stand them both wants to join their team and Kim supposedly is okay with it. "I'm sorry, I must be hearing things because it sounds like you said Bonnie Rockwaller, aka Queen B aka your rival, aka the girl who doesn't like me, is joining Team Possible."

"That's one way to put it, but yes, she does, and no, I'm not joking with you," Kim responds smoothly, still in disbelief about the announcement.

Finally, Ron's mouth hit the floor alongside Rufus, who eavesdropped while eating his snack once it finally registered what had been told to him. "First, Mr. Brakin wants to be my mentor, and now this?!"

Kim shakes her head, hearing something about their teacher. "Wait, what about Mr. Brakin being a mentor?"

"I will tell you about that later; back to Bonnie, like why she suddenly wants to be part of the team, and you okay with that? What if she's playing you, and why would she want to be my date out of all people?" Ron questions swiftly, trying not to panic over the whole deal.

"Bonnie and I had a heart-to-heart talk after being stuck to each other for a whole day. She confessed about wanting to change as a person, including her backstory, and being on the team is part of her wanting us to be friends. Now, am I fully okay with it? The idea has pros and cons, but because she came to me with sincreness and considering she has inadvertently helped us in the past, I think she deserves a chance despite how weird it will be initially."

Kim expresses and continues, knowing Ron has more questions about the decision. "As far as why I think she could be your date, it is because I told her one of the rules will be that she has to be nicer, so if she wants to stay on the team, that has to happen cause me and you are a package deal. I can't guarantee that you two will be great friends, but it will stop her from treating you poorly, and you could get a nice date for the wedding if you are willing to give it a chance."

Ron's mind can explode with all the information he receives in one day. First, Mr. Brakin offers to be his mentor, but he finds out he probably will have to deal with his evil cousin. Now, his best friend not only tells him that Bonnie wants to join the team but also suggests her as a date. "I see. Honestly. I don't have a personal issue with Bonnie; if anything, I try to be friendly toward her despite how she acts, so I am open to see how things could go, but I don't want her to feel forced to do the date thing with me nor am I getting my hopes up for that."

"Let me handle that part. Don't worry; we will officially meet about the team tomorrow. For now, let's watch Agent County." Kim takes the remote to change the channel so they can watch a show they both find out they like, yet Ron's mind is now heavily on Bonnie.

TBC

Author note: Finally, I got around to doing another RonBon story, but this time, it will be longer than a one-shot. I have wanted to write this couple because Bonnie would have been the ideal choice for me to pair Ron up with as far as OTP fanfic-wise after writing Ron with different ladies.

Now, the inspiration for this story was thinking that the show missed out on the opportunity to show growth in Bonnie's character as they got to senior year. I felt the best time to have done this would have been the bonding episode, for from there, Kim and Bonne could have turned their rivalry into a friendly one, almost in an if you can't beat them, join them type thing. Bonnie could have been the one to stop the food chain rule, thus growing up as a person entering college.

Also, I wanted to write about how turning to Zorpox would have long-term effects on Ron, considering he also has the mystical monkey powers in him, which should have been displayed more. I also wanted to see him go from the lazy blond to the "potential boy" and choose the one he met to become. This is part of why I added the side story with Mr. Brakin since I also felt there should have been more payout to that moment between him and Ron.
