Chapter 41

As the days go by, Moroha has managed to regain focus on her spiritual powers, like what Kagome hoped for. But there have times that Moroha can't get over the events that put her in near death. From time to time, mainly sleeping, Moroha would have nightmares that include that scene being played over and over. As such she wakes up in frightful screams.

Moroha feels being held down by something. She tries to get out of the grip of whatever it is that's holding her.

"Your demon must be free from being imprisoned by your spiritual powers." A dark voice taunts her. Moroha begins to pulsate as she is being forced to transform. "Ahh!"

Moroha sits up panting and sweating. The heart beats rather quickly after experiencing such a thing. She grabs her rob and goes downstairs to the kitchen.

The scream gets Inuyasha's immediate attention. He was able to smell the fear the kept on lingering in Moroha's room. He turns to see Kagome still asleep. He silently sighs and goes to his daughter's bedroom. He sees the girl's bedroom door is left open. He peeks inside to see that the bedroom is empty as well as the bed. He turns around to go down to the kitchen to see her getting something from the fridge.

"Trying to raid the fridge at this time of night?" He asks her with his arms crossed suspiciously. Moroha stops for a few seconds. "I couldn't sleep." She said as she gets the brita pitcher out. Once turned around, Inuyasha can tell right away that Moroha has bags under her eyes. It's a sign that Moroha isn't getting any sleep at all.

"When was the last time you were able to sleep for once?" He asks her as he pours himself a glass of water from the pitcher.

Moroha shows how tired she really is. "Ever since the day of the battle. I haven't been sleeping at all. Even at school, which I seem to like a lot is trying its best to keep me calm down, but I know for sure that I'm not going to be fully recovered emotional, and possibly mentally."

Inuyasha places his hand onto his daughter's forehead. "So far, you're not burning. That's good. But I can sense how unsettling you've become since."

"Dad, what would you do if you were in my shoes?" Moroha asks him.

Inuyasha sits on the couch with Moroha next to him. "Well to be completely honest with you, I have been through this a few times."

"Really? You look so calm about it." Moroha points out to him.

Inuyasha nods, "Well, that's what I've been told over the years when I at death's door. I had to survive on a daily basis. I had no idea what might happen to me next. But I bet once in awhile, the events would simply vanish from my memories and I haven't had an episode ever since."

"What do you mean that 'the events would vanish from your memories.'?' Moroha questions him.

"The thing is demons are mythic beings. Some say they're real and others don't. That's one theory why I was able to make them vanish. Humans on the other hand cannot simply do it because it's a constant reminder that won't be erased from existence." Inuyasha explains to her.

"So is that why it's hard for me to live that event over and over again? I can't erase from my own memories?" Moroha asks rather discouraged. Inuyasha wraps his arms around her shoulder. "Maybe. For what you might have is PTSD."

"What is that short for?"

"It's short for Post Trauma Stress Disorder. It's a psychological issue that many people have after witnessing a terrifying sight. Some might have been diagnosed with it whenever they were at war or other conflicts that might have made them believe that they were going to die at some point. Luckily, they survived, but that can't be undone for what happened. It can happen to anyone."

"Are there any treatments to it?" Moroha pressed on for a hopeful respond.

"There are. But I think that it's best we discuss it with your mother and find a psychologist to get you better. Now off to bed." He stands up from the couch with Moroha. "Maybe if you have your sword close by, maybe you'll sleep a bit easier." He advices as they make it to the top floor of the house. Moroha nods.

Surprisingly, Inuyasha enters the girl's bedroom. He sees her new sword on the desk. Moroha grasps the sword and can somehow feel at ease. "Now you know why I need my Tetsusaiga with me at all times." He jokes softly. Moroha smiles silently.

"Good night, Dad." She said as she hugs him tightly. Inuyasha returns the hug. "Good night, Moroha. And remember that you're never alone." He nuzzles her hair. Moroha gets out of her father's hug and gets into her bed with her sword in her hand. Inuyasha couldn't help by smile to see how much Moroha relies on him for certain issues. He closes the door and returns to his master bedroom.

Inuyasha gets under the covers. "I assume Moroha couldn't sleep again?" Kagome asks without turning to face him. "Yeah, she's been having that nightmare more and more. I believe she might have PTSD." He answers her honestly.

Kagome finally turns to him. "I knew this might happen." She said sadly. Inuyasha wraps his arms around her. "We knew this. Sooner or later. So far Moroha is able to get her strength back, but…" Kagome continues, "…her spiritual powers are too unstable to use. If we don't get this resolved soon, Moroha will feel useless. We have to get her back to normal." She was able to keep it together. But her tears were proof enough that they're not out of the woods just yet.

The next morning, Moroha comes downstairs in her Sakura Hills school uniform, and she is able to see that Kagome is placing a plate of waffles to her spot on the counter. "Moroha, morning." Kagome greets her sweetly. Moroha can tell that something is bothering her. But she knows better not to pry. "Morning. Mom. I'll resume going to Sakura Hills." She answers before adding the maple syrup onto the waffles.

"I see. Well, your father and I will be doing our usual tasks. It just won't be at the school." Kagome said as she pours herself a mug of coffee.

"Do you think there's nothing else going on with it? The school I mean?" Moroha asks her curiously.

Kagome takes her spot by her daughter. "Since you and the twins were able to figure out the problem with the school, there's no need for me or your father to intervene. Today should be just a regular normal day for any fourteen-year-old girl."

Moroha nods. "What about my training with you?" Kagome places her mug down. "Why don't we put that on hold for a while? After what your father told me last night has got me concerned."

"Oh so he told you about my constant nightmares ever since. He thinks I had PTSD." Moroha frowns at that part.

Kagome nods. "Afraid so. I want you to go see a psychiatrist this week so we can help you get over that problem." She suggested.

Moroha's frown deepens ever further. "Is that why you're like this? For my sake?"

Kagome nods again. "I'm your mother and it's my duty to make sure you're ok. If there is anything that is bothering, don't be afraid to talk to me or your father. We're here for you." She takes hold of Moroha in a comforting way.

Moroha nod. "Ok. I guess I should head out to school." She grabs her plate, rinses it and places it into the dishwasher. She grabs her backpack with the lunch Kagome made for her. "I'll let you know if anything happens." Moroha shouts as she leaves the house.

Moroha runs the sidewalks that lead to the school she decides to keep attending. As she turns the corner of the street, she stops in her tracks and gasps. "Oh no."

TO BE CONTINUED.

My fellow readers. As you can see that this story is going to be a part 2. I know that this is probably what you weren't expecting, but I assure you that I will write a new story that will resume at this point. I'm going to be on break until something comes up. In the meantime, review. Just don't include any illustrations for your works.
