Josuke quickly strikes a defensive stance, far more reserved in his fighting than he was as a teen. "Well, kid. Show me, then."
Shizuka activates her stand, turning her and her clothing entirely invisible. Crazy Diamond's eyes focus on the ground beneath her feet, observing the movements of the dust under her footsteps.
She breathes deeply, calming herself, letting the ripple circulate throughout her body. "Concentrate. Remember what dad taught you". Then, once fully prepared, she dashes towards Josuke.
Crazy Diamond quickly turns to block an attack from Shizuka, keeping track of her invisible movements. Its spectral hand reaches out to grab hold of where Shizuka's wrist should be, a good 30 centimeters away from Josuke.
Shizuka had seen Crazy Diamond's reaction to her blow coming, and focused her ripple. This move was something she hadn't done since she last sparred with dad.
An invisible fist lands directly on Josuke's cheek, sending yellow sparks rippling through his body, and throwing him back onto their front lawn. Crazy Diamond's grapple had slowed her down, but hadn't accounted for her Zoom Punch.
"Heh. Not bad, kid. Mr. Joestar taught you well." Josuke quips, before standing up from the ground, taking a more offensive stance this time.
"There's plenty more where that came from, trust me." Shizuka says, circling Josuke.
"I'm sure there is." Josuke says, before blitzing towards Shizuka, the grass making her footsteps all the easier to follow. "DORARARARA!". A single punch lands on Shizuka's chest, throwing her into a tree on the front lawn, the invisibility from her stand dropping.
The Ripple circulating through her blood significantly lowers the damage dealt, but she's still easily winded. A few taps on the ground signal her surrender.
Josuke rushes over and quickly heals any injuries with Crazy Diamond. "You alright, kid? Almost ruffled my hair there. You fight good for having a utility-based stand."
"Thanks. I'm fine. This helped. Lot better than smoking." Shizuka chuckles, and stands up. "We have to do this again sometime."
"Sure, kid. If you get someone else onboard, I can bring Okuyasu and we can have a tag team. Made any friends in Morioh yet?"
"Haven't had the time. I'll try tomorrow."
"Sure, kid. Sleep well."
June 28th, 2016. 12:37.
Shizuka sat in a sandwich shop, scrolling social media on her phone with a ham and cheese sandwich in her hand. In her ears was playing the latest album by Dubioza Kolektiv.
The day had been uneventful. She'd checked out the local sights, from the harbor to Angelo to that one weirdo living on an electric transmission tower. It was all so boring compared to the sights she'd gotten to see at home.
Then, a girl sat next to her. She was wearing a fitted black tuxedo, and looked to be about Shizuka's age. Short trimmed black hair completed the look perfectly.
Shizuka greeted her, trying to act as nonchalant as possible. "You know there's some free seats over there where you wouldn't need to sit next to anyone, right?"
The girl scoffed at Shizuka's remark, and took a small piece of folded paper from her coat's pocket, fidgeting with it. "You seem new here, so I'll let that slide. The name's Asumi."
Shizuka sees a small drop of teriyaki sauce land on Asumi's sleeve, which doesn't seem to leave any kind of stain. "Oh, I'm Shizuka, nice to meet y-"
Asumi interrupts Shizuka before she finishes, placing the note she was fidgeting with in front of Shizuka as she speaks. "There's a big party tonight. You do not want to miss it."
Shizuka stutters trying to come up with a response. Her right hand's pinky turns invisible as she's flustered. "Oh, I- I mean, sure, I'm just not a very big par-"
Again disregarding what Shizuka says. "And get rid of that awful jacket. It's, hideous."
"I thought it was nice.." Shizuka thinks to herself, before she speaks up to defend herself. "I only very recently moved here, only brought one suitcase of clothes with me. Wanted to get a feel for the local styles before going shopping."
Asumi stands up from the table, having finished her sandwich rather quickly. "Whatever the case, be there at the party. Starts at 9."
"I will. See you there?" Shizuka asks nervously
"If you're lucky. And dressed well enough." Asumi responds, walking out the door.
Shizuka unfolds the note Asumi left for her, which has an address scribbled in the centre of it. It wasn't too far from her home. Might as well.
The rest of the evening is spent looking through clothing stores and thrift shops for stuff that fits. She'd had good party-going clothes before, but those all were left home.
June 28th, 2016. 17:40
Shizuka gets home a bit before dinner. She stows the bag of clothes into her room, before heading downstairs to talk to Josefu. Josuke and Mikitaka are in the kitchen, making dinner together.
"So. I'm supposed to be like a big sister to you now, right?"
Josefu mumbles. He's playing a shooter, which clearly requires all his concentration.
"How's about this. You let me know when you're done with the game and we can chat."
Another mumble. He's got a killstreak going…
Shizuka yawns as she stares at Josefu's game.
And it's gone. Josefu hits the ground, and quits out of the game in a fit of rage. "What is it." he says bluntly.
"I got you a little something while I was shopping. Don't tell your dads."
Immediately Josefu seems to cheer up significantly. "What is it?"
Shizuka takes a game box out from under her jacket, and places it in front of Josefu. The invisibility drops. "Grand Theft Auto 5."
"Woah, that's, cool. Thanks, I guess. I mean, I already have it, but it's the thought that counts, right?"
"Oh- I, uh. I suppose. I'm sorry, I'll look through your games next time before-" She says while stowing the game back in her jacket to return it tomorrow.
Relief sweeps across Shizuka as a voice calls them over for dinner.
Dinner is boring. A casserole. Shizuka had expected food in Japan to be a lot different than she was used to. Guess it isn't. Josefu talks to Josuke about some video game. Shizuka zones out. After dinner, she heads up to get dressed.
She puts on a band tee, some fishnets, ripped jeans. Proper punk stuff. Then, when she's finishing up her makeup, she hears a knock at the door.
"Uh, who is it?" Shizuka asks.
"Mikitaka." He answers, while opening the door.
"I hope I'm not interrupti- Ooo, what's the occasion, getting dressed so late?" Shizuka had tried to make her makeup disappear, but was still holding the lipstick tube.
"I'm, uh. I'm going to a party. There's this girl I met, she invited me." Shizuka responds nervously.
"Oh, how nice. I feel Dr. Higashikata will want to have a word with you. Speak to him on your way out."
"Alright, thanks." Shizuka nods. 'What the fuck does 'Having a word' include? I'm so fucked' She thinks to herself.
"Oh, and the reason I came up. You left these in the living room." Mikitaka sets Shizuka's headphones on her bed.
"Oh. Got it. Thanks."
Mikitaka turns to leave, heading back to the master bedroom. Shizuka spots Josuke in the living room with Josefu, playing some video game together. They seem to be having fun.
'Whatever'. She finishes her makeup, packs her bag and turns herself invisible to walk downstairs. This time it was warranted.
'Josuke and Josefu seem distracted enough, this should be eas-' Shizuka thinks, before stepping on a creaky floorboard.
Josuke stands up and summons Crazy Diamond. "Kid? Is that you? You really don't need to sneak around in the house."
Josefu turns to look at the stairs, a confused look on his face. 'Does the kid not know what stands are?'
Shizuka appears in the stairway, looking at Josuke. "Yeah. It's me. What do you want?"
Josuke takes a step towards the door. "You better not be going to smoke again. Let's talk outside."
Shizuka complies, and walks outside with Josuke. Seems Josefu is already distracted, didn't even catch a look of Shizuka's outfit. Good.
Crazy Diamond focuses on Shizuka as they step into the yard. Josuke has a stern look on his face.
Shizuka finally gets a chance to explain herself. "I was on my way to a party. It's with some guys in town and."
Josuke calms down significantly. "Got it. I'll have to set a few rules."
Shizuka stays quiet.
"Don't do anything your dad wouldn't have done when he was your age. No drugs heavier than Marijuana, no getting pregnant, no picking up any diseases, and if you bring a guy home, make sure Josefu doesn't see or hear him. Understood."
"Well, I'm actually more-" She speaks up, before disregarding it and nodding.
"I would offer a spar, but I doubt you want to mess up that outfit."
"No, I don't. Thank you."
As Josuke returns to his video game and Shizuka turns to leave for the party, she notices Asumi on the other side of the street, seemingly having seen the whole thing. Shizuka rushes over to talk to her.
Asumi is dressed in the same suit she was wearing earlier. She has a smug smile on her face. "Yo. I was on the way over and spotted you. Thought we could go together. Nice outfit."
"Oh, I mean, sure. Could be nice-" Shizuka blushes slightly.
"Also, when were you going to tell me your dad had a stand? On top of that, when were you going to tell me your dad was Josuke Higashikata?" Asumi says nonchalantly as she starts walking.
Shizuka jumps back in shock, almost turning invisible on instinct. "You can see it? You've got a stand too?"
Asumi looks back at her and winks. "Of course. Why else would I always wear a stupid suit."
Shizuka rushes to catch up to Asumi. "Mine can turn things invisible. What does yours do?"
"Pockets. Let me show you." She says, while pulling a baseball bat that couldn't possibly fit within the suit from its pocket. "It's called Sharp Dressed Man."
