Jericho slowly dragged the paintbrush across the canvas. A smooth sage color saturated the fabric, glistening as it spread. He had too much to think about, but nothing could distract him from the hurt he felt ever since that day.
Kole was tucked in bed softly breathing in her deep sleep. Jericho looked at her, admiring her beauty as she clutched the bed sheets. Jericho made sure not to wake her up moving, he carefully hugged the girl resting his head on her arm. He closed his eyes, feeling the warmth she emitted and she shifted her body to fit his. He looked up to see her eyes were still closed but a tiny mouth twitch indicated that she was awake. He then rested his chin up closer to her chest and the girl broke out into a smile. "I'm going to miss you…"
"Jericho?" Robin had gotten close to the boy, "Are you okay? You seem a bit out of it…? He waved his hand to the boy wonder. "No worries. I am confident to lead this mission." The others in the room smile weakly at his response. The group got up to leave the room and Jericho felt his heart pounding. His throat got tight, feeling it hard to swallow. He was now in the room he currently shared with other Titans. He took out his guitar, strumming a tune that had been attached to him.
He stared at her blankly "I'm sorry. I don't want to leave you, Joey." Tears streamed down her cheeks. Jericho kept pulling her closer to him until he finally got a grasp of her waist. She sobbed into his head and cried harder. "I don't know what is going on with the world. It's such a dark place right now. Who do we even trust?" She looked at him, mesmerized by his emerald green eyes. He kissed her tenderly to reassure her that it would all be alright.
Beast Boy looked over to see the blond poking his food around. He glanced over the Raven who was already reading his mind. She locked eyes with the shapeshifting boy and leaned in to whisper, "We need to talk to him." He shook his head and went back to his food. "I don't think now is the right time." The main team thanked Jericho for the delicious dinner the boy had made and quietly went back to their rooms.
"E… P… H… Hmmm… Your real name is Joseph?" He nodded, rearranging the tiles back to the jumbled mess they came from. The two stayed behind after Titans North played a game of Scrabble. Kole then spelled out her last name to him. He smiled and nodded. "It fits you." She tilted her head and giggled, "What do you mean 'it fits you'. Huh?" Argent went back into the living room to grab her water bottle. She decided to grab a snack hearing the soft clanking and giggles from the girl. Jericho and Kole didn't notice her and continued having their conversation with the tiles. Jericho grabbed her hand and tried guiding her to spell out the letter of the alphabet. Argent displayed a smirk and went back into my room knowing she was going to mention this to the girl later. At that moment, Jericho and Kole soon developed a special bond that was impenetrable.
He looked at the artwork he had just painted. A single rose stood in the center of a dead garden bed. The petals were a soft peach color, vivid green leaves, and tiny dew drops sprinkled on the plant. The ash-colored brick and dead weeds gave away his vision on he saw his best friend. He smiled as he opened the small can of varnish to seal the canvas. That was no paint could be rubbed away or chipped off. He felt his head begin to float and his eyes water. He listened to the music blasting from the speakers in the room and smiled remembering the precious memories that were made. Robin looked at the boy from the cracked open door, feeling worried about him. Jericho did his best to complete the work but gave in when his hand shook to much. He put the tools down and sobbed into his hands. Robin, still standing there seeing the boy in pain, said nothing and walked away.
This idea actually came from "Not My Cup Of Tea" but I wanted to make it a one-shot. At first, I really wanted to keep the sad theme true to the song but it wouldn't have gone well with my story. There was no possible way I wanted to kill Kole off. Please let me know what you think and don't forget to review! *MUAH*
