Naruto Uzumaki Hyūga
Hidden Leaf; Chunin Stadium
The Chunin exams are a time when the host village gained a large crowd, fan fair and plethora of clients from the highest of nobles and lords, the average merchant and everday peddler, that came to see what the next generation of shinobi the Hidden Leaf, the host this time around, has to offer.
The first match, however, was considered a one-sided slaughter as the village's dirty little secret, the demon boy Naruto Uzumaki, was going up against the prodigy of the Hyūga clan, Neji Hyūga, rookie of his year, and widely considered the strongest Genin of the current generation, as contrast to the demon boys title of this years dead-last. Thus, it was to be considered a one-sided foght bordering on a slaughter. The odds were proof of that.
The sunshine haired boy, his piercing solid blue eyes lacked any warmth as he stood opposite the pale eyed Hyūga in the crowd. His normally orange clad boy had recently gained a few feet, a change in attire reflected his new sensei's own as he had a dark trench coat above a fishnet shirt that covered a tan sleeveless shirt. To finish off the look, and an homage to his sensei, a stick of dango was being played with by his tongue.
In the stands, the boy's temporary sensei was grinning wildly as those around her were trying to grill her on the boy's outfit. The first being the Jonin leader of Team Eight, Kurenai Yūhi, who raised a brow, asking. "So, Anko, care to explain?"
Shrugging, Anko spread out her arms on the seating either side, grinning as she explained. "Well… what can I say? The gaki came to me after his sensei turned him away. Spent the whole month in the forest. Gaki absorbed everything I taught him and even improved upon them."
She grinned at that, flipping her dango stick in time with her new favourite student, and hopes to continue their relationship beyond this last month.
In the arena…
The proctor Genma Shiranui, glanced between the two fighters, before finally chopping down the raised hand and yet Naruto did not move. He did not boast, nor rise to the bait of Neji's fate tirade which was really long winded. So much so that even his mask of crazy, adopted in honour of his new sensei, was beginning to crack, thus, only one wasn't surprised when he blurted out, "Oh… go suck a dick and die slow pale eyes."
His smirk that followed the declaration was a perfect recreation of another. It was an Anko smirk. Though, Naruto was not done yet, kunai flipping into his palm from the trench coat, as he continued, "Then again…"
The kunai is tossed slightly, all eyes follow as he slips his finger through the hole, spinning it casually around it's tip, as Naruto finishes. "With its lack of mass, you'd probably just choke."
The absolute silence that followed that was beyond deafening and lasted a full minute before being broken the crude laughter of one Special Jonin. Like a dam breaking, the laughter and snickering spread throughout the crowd and his opponent was as infamously red as his cousin. Neji actually growled, byakugan pulsing in response to his mounting rage, that blinded him as he charged forward.
Finally, the opening clash took place and the clash between the two genin became a blur of motion, emphasised by the flapping of the dark trench coat, that prevent more than a few from seeing the epic defence.
Neji regained his stance, having calmed down, before pushing his attack once more, thrusting, jab, and palms strikes yet Naruto continued to seemingly bend and weave around each thrust and advance from the Hyuga. A finger jab deflected and sent wide, a palm strike was side stepped, and the follow up strike, and Naruto again sent it wide, causing Neji to realise he had not landed a single strike in the last minute.
His glance up at his opponent's face, showed that Naruto seemed to be enjoying his growing rage which only added to said rage and the Hyuga prodigy did not realise just how it was consuming him. Naruto however did and it was amusing to no end how easy it was to get under the idiot's skin. It was refreshing being on this end of things.
Another quick exchange before Naruto avoided a double palm strike, and the two find themselves back where they started, eyes locked on one another though Naruto twirled his dango stick, hands returning to his pockets briefly.
This however would not last as Naruto gave his sensei and big sister figure a meaningful look, and smirked. A smirk that was returned, and Anko muttered her thoughts aloud, "Look like he's about to do it, huh?"
Her best friend and fellow Jonin, who sat at her side, glanced at her, Kurenai asking with a brow raised again, scarlet gaze peircing. "Do what, exactly?"
Anko chuckled as her grin turned feral, gesturing to the arena again with her head, stating. "Just watch."
Though she also glanced at the Hyuga box briefly, continuing, "Should be really interesting."
Back in the arena, Neji spat absolute venom as he spoke, "Stand and Fight!"
As he leaped forward with all his rage and might, Naruto just sighed heavily, muttering. "Fine."
The two clashed but nothing happened. As if the world just froze like someone hit the pause button. Though, there were a few, a scant few, that saw the reason for such a development and had eyes wide as dinner plates at what was being displayed. Neji, being front and centre, was one such being and was by far the most shocked at this development, thus it was unsurprising that he only managed to whisper out, "How…?"
This was the thought of those in the know, though for others who were now only catching up on the latest, it may have been the fact that Naruto's vains either side of his eyes had bulged, rippling with their sudden expanded use, feeding the pupil-less blue eyes that were flaring with chakra and distaste.
Naruto, gripping his opponent's arms at the wrists, only offered back. "Why...? Does it matter?"
Neji was knocked backwards by a sudden light palm strike and as he stumbled his own byakugan met the equally flaring blue tinted byakugan glaring back at him. Yet even he was unprepared by the attack about to be launched at him.
In a burst of speed, Naruto abruptly appeared in Neji's personal space, who reacted to slow to counter, and in the next instant Naruto's stuck out at eight points, a bastardised version of an eight-point Hyuga strike.
Stumbling back again, regaining his stance, Neji found that eight of his tenketsu were all hit perfectly and were now closed. Again before he knew it, Naruto had appeared before him with a double palm strike, saying. "Pay attention."
Neji was sent sprawling from that strike, and it took him a long moment to get up again, but now Naruto's new dojutsu was fully visible to the entire audience. The collective gasp did not go unheard and Naruto was not surprised. Neither was his sensei, as the Hyuga bloodline has never been aloud beyond the clan, even though it isn't entirely unheard of.
Naruto watched Neji get to his feet, his trench coat flowing gracefully in the wind, and as the prodigy glared his deadliest Hyuga grade glare, he seemed unfaze. Neji, however was furious. Murderous almost. He let that be known as he spat with all the venom he could muster. "How dare you stand before me with those stolen eyes?!"
Naruto smirked, a Hyuga smirk, that soon fell behind one of their infamous Hyuga stoic mask, only angering Neji more than anything, though the blonde taunted. "I guess you do not trust these eyes of ours, Neji."
To those beyond the Hyūga clan, such a claim was of little consequence but the large gasp from the Hyūga box was heard. Hinata though, was openly gawking at these continued bombshells being dropped like a carpet bombing run of a B-1B.
Taking up his first stance of the gentle fist, Neji retorts hotly, arrogance flowing off him as he declares. "In that case, I shall show you what a true holder of the byakugan can do."
Naruto's retort was targeted, and only one from the Hyuga would truly understand the significance of his statement. "Then, let us see who's blood runs thicker."
His tone and mannerisms mimicking his foes, throwing an extra layer of spice to the already enraged genin, though it was doused as Naruto took up a matching stance. It was only a moment before Neji snarled something fierce. "Copycat! You must be a…"
Naruto cut him off, still bland toned and stoic, saying. "Uchiha? I am no thief. My strength is my own."
Neji charged forward, fingers glowing, but his following strikes were perfectly met and countered. Two. Four. Slapped away. A double Jab. Naruto swirled in a way not dissimilar to his new sensei. Several raised eyebrows at his snake like form, evading agilely and striking in blind spots whilst moving clear. It was now clear that his sensei has done more than simply update his wardrobe and vocabulary.
Leaping back, the Hyūga prodigy was at a loss for words as he was studying his lack of work on his opponent. Glancing to himself noticing some damage, more than he had expected, but he would not be defeated, his pride would never allow it.
Neji slipped into a familiar stance, declaring boldly. "You are within my range of divination…"
Naruto matches it perfectly, responding in kind. "As you are within mine."
Thus, further shocking the Hyūga clan. This caused Neji to pause briefly, but that allowed Naruto to add his own unique flair to the situation. Without hand signs of any kind, further surprising the audience, nine shadow clones appeared one after the other in puffs of smoke, slowly encircling the brown-haired teen.
Only the Jonin had noticed that during their opening clashes, he had created them as he danced around the Hyuga who was too focused to notice, and had them transform immediately into harmless pebbles among a sea of them. Many had wondered why at that time but now it is obvious that this has all gone to plan.
What put Neji into a panic however was when, in unison, they all declared. "Eight trigrams; Sixteen palms!"
As they charged, Neji's body language choreographed his panic that abruptly stopped as he came to a decision. The only option in this situation. Neji called out. "Kaiten; Revolving heaven!"
Flung back by the unexpected attacking defence, Naruto skidded to a stop, one hand forward gripping the ground before him, creating a small trench as he travelled. As he stands straight once more, dusting off his trench coat, he began glaring at the rapidly dissipating spinning smokescreen.
Said twisting smoke eventually cleared out and the panting form of Neji Hyuga came to view, barely standing upright. Naruto kissed his teeth before moving forward, commenting. "Kaiten, huh? Last line of defence, right?"
Neji though, regaining his breath and preparing to fight, looks up directly at the approaching teen, muttering out. "How…?"
Naruto snorted derisively at that, replying swiftly. "I am a ninja. Why would I tell you that?"
"I am a true Hyūga…" Neji proclaimed proudly before spitting blood, lowering back into his stance just as Naruto summons out thirteen shadow clones. Neji continued. "And allow me to show…"
"No." Naruto cutting of this tirade again, now actually tired of dragging this on with his stone face now turning damn right sinister.
In the stands those who knew Anko stared and gulped at the seriousness of the boy's act. Hinata was on the edge of her seat, her crush was trashing her cousin using a bastardise mix of juken and another style that she was unfamiliar with, but it flowed beautifully and the fact that he had the same eyes as hers was just a pleasant bonus.
The kage box was filled with even more shock when the coveted kekki genki of the Hyūga, appeared within a nonmember. This caused slacked jaws, and widened eyes the longer then fight went on. This eventually led to the Kazekage asking. "He has Hyūga blood, Hokage-sama? His appearance does not lead one to believe to such."
Saratobi just grunted, unwilling to show how surprised he himself was at the fact, however he groaned internally at the paperwork. Of course, his surrogate grandson would put him through all this crap.
"This ends now." Naruto states with such finality, Genma was tempted to call the match right then and there, but the blonde continued. "You say this fight was fated for your win, I say fuck your fate… I shall grab it, beat it down, and then reach for another."
Naruto then dropped into his Hibi stance, earning many wary eyes as he roared out. "…whether you like it or not!"
Naruto charging forward, flanks filled with shadow clones, that promptly charge in at his side meaning the fight was back on.
Neji fell back into a defensive stance, counting the enemies and tracking their approach before he began blocking, blasting one clone forcing it's dispel, and kicking out at another that blocked, before spiralling around another high kick from a second.
He manages another block, leading to a sidestep, then a step back, calling out. "Rotation!"
As he spun, his chakra shell expanded rapidly, only catching one more this time. Yet as he slowed to a stop, Neji heard Naruto call out, and panicked as he realised there was no time. "Eight trigrams; Sixteen palm!"
The second he slowed to a stop, he was struck from ten sides, as Naruto made the call outs. "…two palms; four palms, eight palm… sixteen palms!"
Neji never stood a chance and dropped like a log.
With a loud poof, nine of the ten Naruto's vanished, and the real one strode toward the downed Hyuga who was struggling to get back up, or even move, after that combined one hundred and sixty palm strike. The sound of crunching gravel echoed far and wide, as Naruto's deliberate and measured footsteps grew closer.
Naruto, upon reaching Neji, crouched down and kneeled beside the downed teen, who looked back seeing that his eyes were back to normal. Neither said anything, and the whole stadium was on the edge of their seats, as Naruto finally spoke, nothing on his voice to suggest a lie. "You know, I spent countless hours training myself to the ground, coughing blood, cracking knuckles, and shattering bone. I didn't have anyone to show me any better until recently so…"
He trailed off as his words were like daggers in the silence, Anko hung her head at that, knowing she had become such a figure in such a short amount of time was gut wrenching at best. Naruto though, he continued. "When I discovered I held these eyes, I worked harder than ever to discover the secrets of just the sixteen palms. It was grueling and not as easy as it looks."
He broke into an empty chuckle, before meeting Neji's eyes directly and his frown was tight as he said. "Unlike me… you are neither an outcast... nor a reject…"
Flicking Neji's nose lightly, earning a hard stare from the downed boy, but successfully drew his eyes to Naruto, whoe then whispered. "You're a genius remember...? Act like one."
Standing up tall, Naruto looks back at him and then nods once, as if he had achieved his objective. He then turned his back and walked off. His hands fell into his new trench coat pockets with a frown prominent, his head drooped. Even after Neji was carried away, not one cheer was heard as the next match was called out. No doubt he caused a major upset for most, besides his sensei of course. Dango's are so on her.
Just as Naruto entered the box, he was glumped on by his fellow trench coat wearer, Anko saying. "You rock, gaki!"
Naruto didn't respond verbally, just hugging back in such a way that Anko actually pause and adjusted the glomp to that of a genuine comforting hug. Both were oblivious to the matches going on with Anko silently supporting and hushing the quietly sobbing Naruto. It would remain between them.
"Better…?" Anko whispered to him having noticed he had stopped the shuddering, breath having stabilised again. Naruto nodded back, whispering just as lowly. "Thank you, Anko-nee"
It was muffled by her jacket but she still heard and nodded back silently before they pulled clear fixing themselves back into their badass persona's. Naruto's name was called and the boy looks to his sensei, stating. "Looks like I'm up…"
He glanced down to see Gaara no Sabaku already awaiting his arrival. Anko chuckled lowly, stating. "Kick ass, take names, and…"
Naruto looks to her, witnessing her darkening expression as she whispered. "Remember the plan."
Naruto nodded with a similar dark look, side eying the sand demon container, his counterpart. "Hai sensei."
With Sasuke disqualified due to no show, the crowd was running wild in disappointment due to several rapid disqualification, and now it was Gaara verses Naruto. Appearing in a swirl of leaves and wind, Naruto stands before Gaara, announcing promptly. "Okay Tanuki. Let's rumble."
With a foxy grin which was matched by the psychotic sand rat, Gaara crazily declared back, growling menacingly. "Come Uzumaki!"
The sand swirling excitingly all around, climbing and swirling around the redheads frame in a growing intensity. Just as suddenly however, flames erupt around Naruto's feet matching the sands intensity. Said flames started off a calm bright yellow, before darkening to dull orange then to an foreboding, dark scarlet red, that was jagged and fierce.
The tension was thick as the two just glared daggers at each other, the crowd on the edge of their seats watching as the chakra natures seems to clash with absolute loathing for the other. Yet before the epic clash could be seen, another swirl of leaves erupts and before long Sasuke Uchiha and Kakashi Hatake appeared in the arena. Before either could say anything, they had leap back as the Flames and Sand contonued to smash against each other.
Kakashi was grabbed by an Anbu, Sasuke by Genma and the four quickly reappeared in the stands, before special Jonin Genma states. "Your late."
He like everyone else was watching the spiralling mass of glass and flames, before glancing at the mask wearing copycat ninja. "…and disqualified. So…"
He soon vanished before everyone heard, "…begin!"
A massive eruption forced both Naruto and Gaara to be pushed back, sliding into the walls opposite sides of the arena. Charging at one another again, their respective elements guiding their path, and both equally as fast pull their fists. Another eruption of glass is flung high into the atmosphere.
As it all settles down again, the blonde can be seen holding his hands in a cross-claw form, flames licking his body and nine tails swaying at his back, the Kyuubified Naruto growled. "Come, you filthy rat!"
The Shukakufied Gaara, sand coating and swirling around his own form, roared out. "You dumb fox!"
The display of elemental manipulation and shaping as both demon containers clashed, was a marvel to the spectators though many shinobi were getting nervous at the escalation of the conflict. Those old, and lucky, enough to have seen containers battle and survive, knew this could end up spiralling out of control.
Anko was completely casual about this, having full trust in her student/little brother, and baby brother's ability to keep this contained. Besides, most of this was just bravado, and both were just showing off at this point. Most convincingly so she might add.
The two charge and clash their forearms at one another, a massive blast of scorching wind erupting from contact as they both grin madly at one another, having fun messing with everyone before finally getting to the taijutsu portion of this bout. Kicks, punches, claw swipes, and tails strikes where exchanged but with the numerical advantage, it was clear that Naruto came out on top as Gaara was kicked back.
Flipping and landing on his feet, Gaara snarled whilst his tail swayed menacingly behind him, roaring. "This isn't over, you stupid fox!"
He took a very heavy breath in. Seeing this Naruto mimicked it and also breathed in heavily, his tails arching over him and creating a small opening ahead.
Gaara roared out first. "Wind scream!"
Unleashing a wide blast of overwhelming gale force winds. Naruto was quick with the counter, roaring to the heavens. "Flames howl!"
A stream of pure crimson flames passes out through the tails opening, before expanding beyond them to encompass the entire arena, rushing forward, seemingly enraged, towards the equally wrathful winds of the crazed Tanuki. The explosion rocked the village.
The smoke bellowed thick, wide and tall with the crowd on their feet, with plenty of mouths ajar in anticipation, unaware of the stray attack that struck the Kage box. As it began to clear, it soon revealed Naruto standing above a kneeling Gaara who was also panting hard, his sand scattered about and turned to glass and ash.
Naruto still had the whiffs of flames gliding across his tanned skin, his posture of a calm superior standing before his subordinate clawed hands around his neck but not touching, his nine tails of flames majestically flowing at his back. None knew what to do, yet it was Gaara who broke the silence. "I surrender."
The arena erupted in cheer though neither combatant cared as a simple silent conversation transpired. In the next moment, both just vanished in a formless shunshin, reappearing behind the two Kage's silently back-to-back, with Gaara's sand exploding like a geyser.
Caught off guard by the sudden attack, the fake Kazekage was pushed out of the kage booth and landed hard in the arena with his disguise torn and ripped apart. A second explosion followed shortly thereafter, and three and a half figures too slammed down hard near the now revealed snake sannin.
A bloody mass, that was once one of the Sound Four, appearing to be a twin of one of the escaped, was soon flung out and splatted against the arena floor directly before the Sound group. The entire stadium was left in a state of shock and disbelief at the sight of the traitor back in the village.
The next moment however, two elemental twisters appeared and Gaara stepped out from the twirl of sand, Naruto out of the twirl of scarlet flames and standing beside his brother in circumstance. Gaara spoke first, snarling something fierce woth nothing but loathing. "Orochimaru, for your crime of killing and impersonating the Kazekage…"
Naruto took over seamlessly, snarling up a storm too, bloodlust oozing from his frame. "And your crimes against the hidden leaf…"
Speaking in unison now, they both state. "…by our rights as shinobi of Sand/Leaf, we hereby sentence you to death."
Orochimaru was actually offended by these upstarts trying to upstage him. The Kyuubi brat was one thing, his profile spoke highly of his brash attitude, bragged constantly of inconsequential nonsense. Gaara on the other hand was little more than a mindless berserker, who you threw at your enemy and he would kill mindlessly.
The fact that they stood against him was preposterous and damn right insulting. Orochimaru chuckled lowly, licking his lips in his creepy, messed up manner as he states. "Kukuku… how novel. You actually think…"
He paused just then a triple layer barrier, blue in origin erupted from several points around the stands and enclosed the entire fighting area. Isolating him, his sound four, and the demon containers from the crowds beyond.
This caused the disguised sound forces to snarl as their leader was now trapped, no way out and some of the grunts acted out and allowed the invasion force to be torn apart by the equally disguised joint Leaf/Sand forces, that appeared just as suddenly.
In the arena however things were much different, Orochimaru wasn't comfortable with facing against both containers of the nine and one tails, even more so after their little display earlier, as it was clear both had a substantial level of control of their strength and bijuu's. A new development his spies had not informed him of.
Naruto, tired of staring down these fools, decided to kick things off, snarling out. "Let's get this started, snake-teem."
Bijuu chakra burst forth from both, dark orange from Naruto, nine swaying tails of flames erupting at his back, and dark yellow from Gaara, his own tail swaying behind him as both took on the feral features of their relative bijuu.
Immediately Garaa's sand deflected several arrows launched by the man with six arms, before, in unison, the two blur forwards before abruptly split into a pincer attack as the two take deep breaths, reaching the apex of their flanks, Gaara internally intoned. "Infinite dust storm."
Just as opposite him, Naruto intoned internally. "Great Flame Howl."
The two breaths out their respective techniques catching the Oto elite between them. When both collided it was again, shock the village from the chakra usage, but this was but a smoke screen as the opening shots had now been played.
Naruto nimbly and gracefully flips over the charging bulk of Jirobo, slicing open his shoulder blades with his finger claws as he does so. Landing and immediately dashing aside from arrows launched by the spider guy again. Naruto continued darting side to side as he closes in. Just as he got into range however Naruto abruptly snapping to the side and pounced on the red head, knocking her down, before grabbing and slamming her face first into the ground.
At the same time with Gaara.
Just after the opening attack.
A whistling was heard causing Gaara's vision to swim slightly, but a flare from Shukaku cleared the genjutsu just as the last twin appeared with a rising fist. Much to his attacker surprise, the fist was caught, effortlessly at that. Sand rushed over the connection, slowly engulfing the Oto shinobi, but Gaara had to leap back from an ethereal monster's club slamming down againt his previous position.
A quick glance around and he spots the redhead, playing a tune on a flute that seemed to control these monsters. Just as he was about to deal with her Naruto tackles her, the puppets vanishing as she was promptly knocked out.
With a smirk, he snaps his fingers, and the now trapped shinobi explodes in blood whilst a wave of sand rushes towards the six armed one. Yes. He was to die next. That was cut short when an impact from behind launched Gaara into the centre of the arena before he was drop kicked. This is when however, an orange blur flew past and tackled Orochimaru before he could finish delivering the kick.
Orochimaru snarled at the Kyuubi brat ahead of him, the sand rat was now at his back, coated in scarlet flames in the form of a nine tailed fox coating him. A truly sadistic foxy smile appeared on the kids face, hyped at the main show about to begin as the snake sannin chuckled. "Kukuku… Naruto-kun. I must admit, I am impressed with your performance…"
This earned him a growl from the fox host, but Orochimaru continued. "But, do you really think you can stand up against me? An S-rank shinobi?"
Naruto's growling turned into full blown snarling for a moment but stopped suddenly, he then perked up, one of his tails thrusted backward. The tale tell ssound of flesh being punctured, was followed by the smell of burning flesh but it did not last as the impelled was flung aside. A loud thud as it was Jirobo who had been flicked, dead, off into the wall of the arena.
Orochimaru frowned. This was not going to plan, but Naruto just lowered down to all fours, his bijuu egging him on as this was far more entertaining then he had ever envisioned. Sure, using your might to crush others will never get old, but watching a kit, tear apart older more senior humans apart. This was certainly a fresh take on the old slaughter given form for the old fox.
The Tanuki too was having a blast watching his host create new ways of spilling blood. That click and walk away was something he had not thought of. Perhaps the fox was right, watching their hosts dominate and toy with their pray will be enjoyable. Best thing, he doesn't need to do a thing. Just sit back and watch.
Gaara appeared beside Naruto, both in animalistic forms, tails swaying dangerously and this is when Orochimaru knew he'd have to take this somewhat seriously, so he grinned. Not enough space to summon Manda, but his trump cards to beat his sensei will be oh so more fitting for these two upstarts.
Biting both thumbs, Orochimaru goes through the hand signs, but Naruto nor Gaara are stupid enough to let him finish whatever he was doing and vanished in twin blurs. Were it not for the decades of experience and his own skill, the snake summoner would have been torn in two as he curled around the two teens, however, he forgot about their tails.
Bijuu chakra is acidic to everyone beside their jinchuriki, who themselves grow a resistance to their tenants chakra as they grow with them. Under normal circumstances that is. Gaara has been a jinchuriki his entire life, and before that, having Shukaku inserted before he was even born. His compatibility with the one-tail, naturally, is second to only the beast himself.
Naruto too, is a special case having shared a space within his mother and the Kyuubi. Similar to Gaara, but by his very conception, he had been exposed to, and adapted to the corrosive effects of the nine tails he now holds within himself.
Why does this matter?
Well, both Naruto and Gaara have both pulled off a move none even considered before this point. Why may you ask? Simple. None have ever had two individual Jinchuriki working alongside each other, despite being from another village, and normal jinchuriki are only deployed as weapons of last resort.
Now, both boys know outright killing this Sannin is going to be incredibly difficult, if not impossible, as he has decades of experience over them both, combined, however the same can be said for him too.
When was the last time Orochimaru went up against a coordinated Jinchuriki team?
So, when said man avoided the double joint charge, he only focused on the boys themselves. He completely missed the interwoven and connected tails that trailed after them. So, when it sliced through him, he was unprepared for the two types of invading bijuu chakras.
He roared in agony, distracting him from his master plan long enough for both boys to slide to a stop, and both begin preparing their beast's ultimate attack. The Bijuu bomb. Neither can utilise the full power of the move, then again, however, that would be overkill as their own respective tenants were helping this much, eager to see what they're hosts can do.
The feel of the ultra-dense chakra snapped the rogue shinobi out from his pain long enough to sense the danger to his person. Orochimaru spit out a second him, it only allowed a partial recovery in this instance though, thus he was still suffering from the corruption from the two bijuu infusing their chakra. He had no idea how he'd combat this right now, and it was clear than that these kids were not playing around.
Going through handsigns at speeds befitting his rank, Orochimaru slammed both hands down, calling. "Summoning; Double Rashumon!"
Two demon gates raised up, but both were immediately blown to bits by the double bijuu bomb strike. The shockwave from the attack was enough to crack the barrier erected around the stands, the subsequent eruption of chakra outright shattered it, blowing back the battling shinobi in the arena and knocking plenty into the air, clear out of the building. This chaos natrually broke the battle at large as the explosion had rocked the entire Land of Fire itself.
As the flash finally dies down, the stadium was revealed to be partially blown out and singed across the upper edges. The arena had been deepened three levels at least with a new crater, the gravels and stone blacked and turned to ash. At the epicentre, there was a single large orb of glass that suddenly burst apart and the two jinchuriki can be found standing there in its place, both sneering at the new hole in the ground. Naruto muttering. "Next time, teme…"
Gaara grumbled too, unsatisfied himself, as his revenge itch has not yet been resolved but his brother-in-arms has been right thus far so standing down for now is all he can do. They will enjoy hunting that snake and crushing him in totality. Even Shukaku seemed excited by the prospect of hunting such a snake. It should be glorious.
The two containers look to one another and smirk dangerously, a glint of something none but they knew, and they shared a fist bump. The first of many and an unspoken message shared between them that was witnessed by shinobi of all three camps as the beginning of something new.
Hidden Leaf; Council room
The following day, Naruto was summoned via Anbu. He wasn't alone, naturally, as he had stayed with his new sister figure, Anko Mitarashi, both strolling through the tower in their matching trench coat. Both looked perpetually bored.
As they reach the council chamber, they came across Naruto's official sensei and team leader, in the form of Kakashi Hatake, leaning against the wall casually, book in hand. Naruto did not spare him a glance, neither did Anko, but before they entered, Kakashi spoke. "Yo, Naruto. Got a sec?"
Again, both did not acknowledge his presence, as the door opened allowing them to enter, Kakashi sighing before following them in. This was his duty, even if he seemed to not be in his blonde student's good books at the moment but that can be dealt with later and at a more appropriate time. As such his book was put away as now he too stands before the joint councils at his charges side.
Naruto had taken his lessons with Anko to heart, as she was the first to show actual interest in him as both a person and growth in becoming a better shinobi without being discriminatory against him for his burden. She managed to see through his mask by showing him her own. The two had bonded during her training, most would call torture, but Naruto hit it with all due seriousness and did not back down nor give up.
Anko had similar mindset shift, so proud in her little gaki, but even she would admit, to herself and him at least, that she did not expect to get this close to her little brother in just a month. Yet, this felt like they had always been together. It was like they were a family that always had been, even if both knew otherwise.
Now though, their relationship is about to be tested in the presence of the shinobi and civilian councils. Their hokage, Hiruzen Saratobi beginning the meeting with. "This meeting is now in session. Why has it been called?"
Mabuki Haruno was the first to stand, stating firmly. "Is it not obvious, Lord Hokage. That boy almost released the Nine-tails yesterday! He also stole those eyes he current holds within his head. He must be dealt with immediately before he kills us all."
After that screech, Naruto held out a hand and two dango sticks were placed there by Anko, who was grumbling about stupid blondes who got lucky. Many raised an eyebrow, though Hiruzen suspected it as he grinned, asking for the room at large. "Oh? Care to explain that?"
Naruto just smirked as he chewed on his lovely free dango, so Anko mumbled in response. "We bet on who would be the first to condemn him for his use of his tenants power. He bet Haruno, I bet Himoura. I lost."
Mabuki looked incredulous at that, as if insulted. The elder in question however, remained stoic as he swallowed silently, but the three in the centre of the room spotted it, as did the hokage, and now all knew he was planning on making a stink too. Haruno just beat him to it. He adjusted his glasses upon noticing the amusement of Naruto and Anko, though caught the side-eye from his former teammate, and sitting kage as he cleared his throat, Himoura stated firmly. "They are valid, legitimate concerns."
Surprisingly, it was Tsume who snorted, arms crossed leaning back as she breaks out into a grin, calling out. "Yeah, my ass. Those two pups fought against an S-rank missing ninja and forced him back. If either lacked control, we'd all be in a mess right now. As for those eyes of his."
She jerked a thumb to Hiashi, who had remained stoic this entire time which allowed Tsume to finish. "No doubt they would have said something by now. So shut ya traps and leave us shinobi to do our damn jobs."
Huffing at the end, leaning back with arms folded, though earning more than a few nods of agreement and gratitude.
Koharu however was unfazed by the clan heads bravado and stood, stating. "You boy are a loose cannon. You should be locked up and sealed until we can verify that your…"
Kakashi was about to cut in here, but was beaten to the punch by Naruto, "Listen lady, last time I checked; I am a registered shinobi. I do not, will not, take anything you say to heart. As a shinobi, I am under the hokage. Not you advisors."
Many were stunned at the audacity on display, but it would seem that Tsume had lit a fire and Naruto was now fanning it. Anko had never been so proud. The clan heads all nodded their agreement to the accurate, if not crudely worded, statment of the shinobi before them, with Tsume chuckling lowly, enjoying this little pups antics. It was a breath of fresh air.
Before the old woman could comment further, Danzo spoke at Hiruzen, stating. "This is what I have been saying, Hiruzen. He is brash, reckless, and undisciplined. If I take the boy, I can train him…"
The amount of killing intent slamming into the old man had cowled the one tails. Danzo was trying really hard to not to have a heart attack or faint under the pressure. The clan heads were struggling to breath, chocking too, as was Hiruzen. Kakashi was on his hands and knees, trying to focus on getting air in his lungs on the verge of passing out. The civilians had all shat their pants, wet themselves, before passing out from it.
The only one unaffected was Anko, who was standing beside the epicentre of it all that was of course, one Naruto Uzumaki, who spoke calmly, as if not exerting any effort in bringing them to their knees. "You – old fool, do not get a voice in this discussion. If I find any of those blank masks following me again, we will not be pleased. Am I clear?"
Danzo could barely move at this level of intent, trying not to falter or show weakness, yet as his gaze fell on the boy before him, the visage of a snarling nine-tails could be made out at his back. Swallowing, he offered the slightest of nods, and the intent vanished the following moment and Naruto offered a cheesy smile. "Thanks old mummy guy."
Anko chuckled lowly, gently ruffling the golden blond locks of her gaki, whilst watching the others try and recover themselves, "Man. You do not kid around."
Naruto offered a fluid shrug, not needing to answer that, though Hiruzen was still in shock at what he had heard and felt. Though, one toad sannin, who had fell from his hidden spot from the shadows, was jumping back to his feet, Jiraiya shouting. "What the hell were you thinking, Brat?! Are you trying to kill us?"
Naruto looks blankly back at the unannounced man before shrugging and again looking back at the hokage, who looked amused at the subtle dismissal. Jiraiya growled, noticing the dismissal too, and shouted. "Don't ignore me brat."
Kakashi felt Naruto's following sigh in his own bones, allowing the blond to look back at the toad sage, Naruto asks blandly. "Umm… did you say something?"
Anko looked away, barely stopping herself from laughing at, Kakashi felt a swell of pride at the use of his infamous response. The other clan heads to were muffling their own chuckles, with even the hokage pulling down his hat to hide his smirk.
Jiraiya was wide-eyed, before growling, fist shaking at the brat, "Oi! Do you know who I am, brat? I am the…"
Naruto cut in with a casualness Kakashi was proud of, "Jiraiya the toad hermit of the Densatsu no Sannin. Elite Jonin of the Leaf. Spymaster. Teammate of Tsunade Senju, and the traitor Orochimaru, who I forced to flee yesterday I might add, and all around general pervert king for the elemental nations."
Everyone was surprised by that, including Jiraiya himself, who regained his bravado at that about to correct him, but Naruto decided that he didn't want to hear it. "Not to mention, writer of those erotic novels that sensei, Jonin-leader, and hokage are obsessed with. Yet, seeing as the civilians are still out cold, I can also reveal the other things. Assuming that none speak of them beyond these walls."
Everyone was surprised at this all, taking a few moments to recompose themselves before looking to their hokage, who's eyes were as sharp as the Kiba blades of Kiri. Hiruzen spoke calmly. "None will. What do you want to…?"
Naruto offered a fleeting glance to white haired man, before giving a meaningful look at the hokage, stating. "I am fully aware of who I am, Lord Hokage, what I am, and what I represent. I am not happy with you, this village, nor those who knew the truth and stood back and did nothing."
Hiruzen went wide-eyed at that, as did Kakashi, Hiashi, Jiraiya, Hamura, and Koharu. The others just raised their brows at that, though Naruto looked at Jiraiya speaking with ice in his voice. "Yes, that includes you, oh-dear-godfather."
Jiraiya paled at that revelation, swallowing hard as he tried to figure out what exactly to say to the kid. Sure. It's been thirteen years since he last saw him but still, he had his work to handle and was still protecting him from external threats. It was sensei's job to work on the internal ones.
Yet again Naruto looked back at Hiruzen who went stiff as a bored, the boy continued. "I do not know why things were revealed the way they were, nor do I care to yap and whine about it. What's done is done, no point crying about rotten milk and stuff. I made a promise to protect the village and that is what I will do."
Hiruzen nodded mutely, no words could possibly convey his guilt at his inaction to help the boy of his late successor. Instead he looked to his student, who was looking back, and nodded again.
Jiraiya nodded, before looking to Naruto, asking hesitantly, "Umm, Naruto."
Naruto, Anko, and Kakashi looked to the senior Jonin, and Jiraiya continued, "I want to take you as a student. Teach you the…"
"No." Naruto's flat response caused the man to pause. Naruto continued regardless. "I already have a great sensei who actually listens and instructs me. She's a little forceful, and sometimes I do fear for my sanity, but she is truly looking out for me in her own way. You, like many others, are likely trying to mould me into a clone of the glory days and only see me as a means to an end."
He shrugs after that, though as he was looking forward he missed the blushing cheeks of Anko, who was smirking at her gaki's statement and the defeated sigh from Kakashi, who now realises that the blond bundle of energy has dismissed him outright.
Jiraiya rushed to speak up, to correct the misconception. "No, that isn't it, I swear. I made a promise to train you, you see…"
Naruto commented flatly, cutting the man off again, "You also promised to look out for me, and be there as a stand in if anything were to happen. Something did happen. Yet, you did not fulfill your promise. What is one more reneged promise among a field of failed ones."
Jiraiya looked hurt by those words, now forced into recalling all those failed ones, all the promises had failed to live up to, and rhe mountain of regrets he held for each. Yet, he still muttered lowly, barely above a breath. "But, you're the child of prophecy. Meant to be trained by me to bring peace to the world."
Anko facepalmed, as did Inoichi, who too had figured out how Naruto was thinking about things now. That was quite literally the single worst thing to say right now.
Naruto growled, eyes immedately glowing red with Kyuubi chakra filtering into the air making it as dense as snow, but before he totally lost it, he took heavy, deep, calming breaths to try and forestall his rage and anger. The Kyuubi wanted him to lose it, and Naruto sent him a glare to cut that shit out as this was not the time for battle.
Settling down, again, Naruto slowly opened his eyes and kept them fixed on the hokage, speaking crisply, and clipped. "Is that all, Lord Hokage?"
Although he spoke calmly, and forced himself to keep a level voice, it was clear to all that he was not all that calm. The cracking floor tiles from the chakra pressure were evidence to that fact. Though none missed how Anko, who had remained unaffected by all the outbursts, just drooped her arm over his far shoulder, and pulled him in closer into her side which in turn allowed him to calm more, and the chakra pressure subsequently dropped in response.
It seems Anko has some control over the boy on some level, was the general thoughts of all present.
Hiruzen let out a tight breath, inclining his head, "It is, Naruto. I am sorry."
Naruto did not make any effort toward showing he heard, instead, twirled on the balls of his feet, dragging Anko with him, and the two left.
The door closed before everyone let out sorrow filled sighs, Kakashi speaking up, looking to Hiashi, "Hiashi-san, how does my student have a byakugan? He is not a Hyuga."
All eyes look to the stoic head, many wondering the same thing. Jiraiya was confused, asking, "Wait what? That is not possible. Neither of his parents were…"
Hiashi spoke calmly, crisply, and over the toad hermit. "That is a clan secret. I will not disclose anything."
Hiruzen though asked, "So, you knew he had it?"
Hiashi remained stoically detached and, as stated, said nothing.
Hidden Leaf; Ichiraku Ramen
Anko watched Naruto wolf down his fourth bowl, as she herself chewed silently on her usual sweet treat. She spotted Ayame's worried expression, and smirked at her that she caught and nodded before moving off. Naruto-kun is being handled.
Naruto though dropped his sixth bowl down before sighing hard, glancing to his newest precious person, speaking softly. "I lost my cool, Anko-nee. I'm sorry."
Anko just shrugged casually, twirling on the stool, "It's fine, squirt. They did deserve it and a bit more if you ask me."
Naruto chuckled at that, just as a new arrival drops down on the opposite side of Naruto to Anko, with the former responding, "Yo, Sand Rat."
Gaara nodded, smirking slightly, "Stupid fox."
The two shared a fist bump again, and Ayame brought over two bowls of Miso ramen, which both boys attacked like they were bitter enemies with a blood feud. Anko looked on amused before the new arrivals escort arrived in the form of one Temari no Sabaku, "Oh, fan girl. Fancy meeting you here."
Temari looked annoyed at the jab at her weapon, but did not let it hinder her as she watched her brother and the leaf's containers interact like they were normal boys. Gaara had never once acted like this in the sand. He was all bloody murder and twitchy as an addict going through withdrawal.
Yet, here he was and if Temari did not know any better, she would never have suspected anything wrong with her baby brother. He was talking calmly with the blond who was responding in kind, as if they had been best friends forever.
Looking back at the Jonin proctor of the second exam, Temari saw the smile was genuine this time, as Anko stated, "Things are going to get better for them both. Trust them, neh?"
Temari found herself nodding without needing words, and just sat beside Anko, ordering a few dango herself and watching over her brother and his new, and first, friend.
As the group were leaving, an Anbu appeared before the foursome and stated firmly, "Naruto Uzumaki. Lord Hokage wants you to report to his office immediately."
Naruto just grumbled but nodded, and the man left, as he sighed out. "Let's go see what the old man wants."
Anko nodded but Temari says, "Then, we'll head back to…"
Gaara cut her off, "We'll come to."
Naruto nodded and smirked, holding up a fist that Gaara tapped with his own. Temari was unsure about this, this was a meeting another village's Kage. They can't just crash something like this, can they?
Anko just shrugged, "Fine by us. No doubt, you can provide some context so it's all good."
Sighing hard, Temari follows after them unsure why it is that she seems to be the only one sensible enough to follow proper decorum.
Hidden Leaf; Hokage Office
A knock on the door, the muffled. "Enter"
The foursome step in to the office, earning raised brows from the occupants who were not expecting the party at large as they had only requested Naruto. Anko could be excused, being a leaf Jonin, and has also seemed to have become his confidant and pillar of emotional support. Yet the Sand siblings were neither. To their knowledge at least.
Hiruzen asks first, as they come to a stop in the centre of the room. "Ah, Naruto. I believe I only asked for you to come."
Naruto nodded firmly, replying. "You did. However, your Anbu said that you wanted to speak to me. Nothing about your elder council, my team leader, the other sannin nor the clan heads either, so I believe we can both overlook that."
Shikaku smirked at that, the kids sharp, and not above retaliation. Tsume was grinning at the fiery attitude. He was wolf waiting to pounce. Hiashi remained silent and composed but if you looked really carefully, he had the smallest of smirks on his face.
The elders were unamused by this clear show of disrespect and were going to voice it, but one look at his slit, blue eyes that were clearly bleeding towards red was enough of warning. Even more so when the noticing the teal eyes of the former Kazekage's son, flowing from teal to a dark, sandy yellow, daring them to say something.
Hiruzen looked at the boy he considered his grandson for a long moment before nodding. "Fine then. The reason I have called you here is two fold."
Naruto didn't react so, Hiruzen continued, "First of all, during the invasion, you and your friend unleashed a lot of bijuu chakra. We wish to inspect your seals for damage in case they are loosening."
Naruto and Gaara snorted in unison, earning many raised eyebrows, Temari looked outright incredulous at her brother. Not once has she ever seen or heard Gaara snort. Who was this new version of him and where the hell did he learn this all from.
Naruto folded his arms and stated calmly. "Our seals are in perfect working order…"
Raising his hand to stall the preloaded rants on the elder council and toad sages tongues, he continued. "They have been modified, yes. Mine allows me greater access and control over my tenants, and my own chakra with little interference. Gaara's has been brought up to spec as it was rather faulty and had a few bad elements within that was causing duress for both parties."
Jiraiya stepped forward, face as serious as can be, "Who modified them? The Kazekage's son aside, Naruto, your eight…"
Naruto interrupted the man again, left hand raised that waved the man off. "None of your concern, Toad sage. As far as I, my bijuu, Gaara, and his, are concerned, is that our seals are holding firmly, and our chakra has never been more potent."
Hiruzen spoke now, unsure about this, "You are playing a dangerous game, Naruto. How do we not know you aren't being controlled by the Kyuubi."
Naruto shrugged, responding calmly, "If any of you believed that, then you would have joined those fox hunts the elders ordered when I couldn't defend myself."
Gasps at the accusation, none more then two of three old coots, who wanted to yell at the boy, but Naruto continued. "Secondly, if I was, do you think we would be having a casual, civil discussion and not an overwhelmingly accurate reenacting of his previous attempt to destroy this place?"
Logic was sound at best. Silly on them for considering that at worse. Gaara added, "Our partners are more interested now in seeing what we do with their strength. Mine said, and I quote here; 'Sure it is fun to destroy an army or two, maybe a village, but seeing you fight for your life is far more enjoyable.' End quote."
That was a bit of a revelation. The tailed beasts were treating their hosts like a movie show of some kind. Danzo spoke up, an idea in mind. "In that case…"
This time both Naruto and Gaara responded in the same manner, and in unison, eyes turning into their respective bijuu's as they smoke coldly, Naruto says. "I believe you were warned."
Gaara says, "We were told you were warned."
Their words were nerve wrecking at best, spine shuddering at worst, and many took gulps at the threat. It was unfiltered and very real. Danzo knew that too and remained silent. It seems the beasts are not going to cooperate. He has other means to bring them to heel.
Hiruzen cleared his throat, not seeing this going much further if the beasts themselves are fighting for their hosts so subduing them will be rather difficult, especially together like this. Gaara is a defensive force of little equal, and Naruto seems to be the tip of the spear type. A formidable duo which he saw his rogue student run from.
Eventually he speaks, "Naruto, we need some reassurance about your loyalty…"
Naruto raised a brow at that, as did Anko, Gaara, and Temari. The addressed asked slowly, as to be sure he did not mishear. "My loyalty? Is there something that brings it into doubt?"
The elders looked unsettled in the following silence, Hiruzen did not respond either though knew what Naruto was hinting at. Kakashi, who was leaning against the rear wall focused on his smut, but could sense the growing unease.
Thankfully, Jiraiya broke in to it, stating. "Why do you refuse being my apprentice? Accepting it, will clear any doubts and…"
"I told you," Naruto spoke with a bombastic side-eye on the toad hermit that ws damn right disrespectful. "I do not wish to be associated with someone who breaks their promises so frequently."
Hiruzen tried to argue back, "Naruto. He is our spymaster. He couldn't take you with him nor could he stay here. Leaving you behind was the only thing he could do."
Naruto looked to the old man, distrust evident for all to see, and Inoichi and Anko could both tell his agitation was growing stronger by the moment. Thankfully, Anko placed a hand on his shoulder and his calm began to return and allowed him to put voice to his thoughts. Naruto speaking tightly. "Fine. You want me to be a student. Put me under Anko-sensei directly."
Both Jiraiya and Kakashi snapped together towards the blonde, the former stating. "That isn't what we were offering!"
Kakashi stating, "You are still on my Team Seven."
Naruto pretended not to hear either one, maintaining his gaze on the Hokage who looked back. Hiruzen sighed, before shaking his head, "I can't do that, Naruto. She is not a full Jonin, nor is she able…"
Naruto was about to jump in but it was Inoichi who did, "Lord Hokage."
All eyes fall upon the Yamanaka clan head, standing at the desk right and directly opposite the toad sage, Inoichi speaking again. "I recommend that Naruto is place with us in T and I for a little bit, directly under Anko. There, we can run him through our vigorous physical and mental evaluations while also assisting the village as a whole."
Many could see the merits of this. It would shore up any weaknesses in the container's mental defences, and allow them to ensure that he can be monitored more carefully. If he acts out, then locking him up is all but a simple affair.
Hiruzen mulled it over. Torture and Interrogation isn't what he wanted for Naruto's future shinobi career. He was too sunny and bright for those dark depths, despite the last month of cloudy skies. Though, Inoichi brings up a few good points about his mental health and possible ramifications that may linger from his troubling upbringing. With him there, no doubt some of his grandsons anger at the village will be sedated.
Jiraiya on the other hand looked damn right incredulous, there is no way in hell his godson will become an interrogator. He will follow in his and his late father's footsteps in the field of frontline combatants, tearing through armies, and villages alike whilst looking cool all the while. And so he roared out, "He is not going to be a simple interrogation expert! I will train him into an S-rank powerhouse that none can…"
"Enough, Jiraiya!" Hiruzen barked and the man fell silent, still red faced, as the hokage let out a wary breath. This is troubling indeed. Though, he feels like he should ask as he meets Naruto's eyes, Hiruzen states. "Naruto. Why do you want Anko to train you?"
Naruto responded swiftly, simply. "I trust her."
Many blinked at that. None more than Kakashi, who was confused. Wasn't he trusted? He's been his Jonin sensei for eight months now, surely they had a trusting relationship built by now.
Naruto, sensing the confusion among the others, continued. "She didn't approach me with any hidden intent or ulterior motives. Was honest with me from the get go. Gave me meaningful advice, and did not pull her punches or dismiss me without telling me why exactly. For the last month, she has drilled me in everything from poisons and medical techniques that can be used to kill. To botany and taijutsu."
His side eye to the Yamanaka head was missed on no-one, as he continued. "Though, I doubt I'd be a match for you, Inoichi-san, I think I'd give your daughter's arrangement skills a run for her money."
Inoichi smirked, noticing the flushed cheeks of his subordinate who must of taken his suggestions to heart, as he chuckled softly and jovially. "Perhaps I could give you a few pointers myself, make a day or even training of it."
Naruto nodded firmly with a soft smile that promptly vanished upon returning his gaze back to the hokage, who was equally surprised as most the room at his choice in hobbies, as they listened to him. "As such, I have learnt more under Anko in the last month and a bit, then I did under Hatake the previous seven. I now have a tiajutsu style. My chakra control is now at chunin level. It was academy-level before. I also now have a small number of ninjutsu under my belt."
As he listed things off, more than a few glanced at Kakashi who grew nervous. Surely, he had taught Naruto something in the time since he had him. Right?
Naruto continued, "I now have direction in my career as a shinobi. But most importantly, I made real, geninue friends and not the fake, part-time, ones my team, and classmates were."
Many eyebrows raised at that, though Anko ruffling his hair and Gaara raising a fist answered that question quite nicely. More so when the two containers bumped them.
Naruto looks back to the kage, a smug smirk on his face, as he states proudly. "That is why I want to be Anko-sensei student. In a month I reached this milestone. Hatake did not teach me anything beyond teamwork, and I do not know nor trust Jiraiya. He is my godfather that I only had just met earlier today. I am sorry, but I do not want anything to do with him."
Hiruzen took a heavy breath. This was upsetting as Naruto was making a very valid, mature argument thus dismissing it would likely push the boy further away. This wasn't the same childish behavior he had before the exams but a sound, thought out and logical reasoning.
Finally after careful consideration, Hiruzen responded. "I will take your words under advisement for now. If you make chunin, then perhaps you may then apply for the position with Inoichi."
Anko, with her hand still on his shoulder, felt Naruto tense, no doubt upset at these words. If anyone deserved to be promoted, regardless of the so-called invasion, it would be Naruto. She was angry too, but just like how she taught it to him, Anko remained outwardly calm and confident.
Hiruzen continued, "However, in the meantime, you will return to Team Seven under your Jonin-sensei Kakashi. Am I understood?"
Naruto just nodded, blank faced like any trained Hyuga, responding. "Yes, Lord Hokage."
Hiruzen nodded, noting the tone and expession, before looking to Gaara and Temari. "As for you two."
Gaara was upset at his friend's predicament. It was clear now that they both had shitty kage's, so interjected. "We are not under your jurisdiction, Lord Hokage. We were only here to explain the nature of our relations with Naruto Uzumaki and Anko Mitarashi."
Hiruzen raised a brow at the boldness from this Suna Genin, as did many who caught the underlying impression of steel and distrust from the boy. The hokage asks with a razors edge. "Which is?"
Gaara did not even flinch under the underlying threat given in return to his own, nor would he buckle under the pressure being levied upon him by the rooms occupants, as he responded not with words but with action.
Simply lifting his left fist, the one closest to Naruto, with the blonde matching with his right and they tap the back of their fists, sand and flames erupt and encircled the twos arms in an impressive display of chakra resonance and control. Gaara's words however cut through the astonishment of the room at large, stating firmly. "That they are, to me and Suna, family that we have accepted as one and the same as our own. Just as we did today, we answered their call-to-arms and will stand with him should he call for it."
Temari smirked, gaining a sudden bout of confidence and hotiness at the claim, as she too stood with them. Anko too smirked along with Naruto, still ruffling his locks softly.
To the others however, this was a clear message that was received loud and clear. Suna stands with the Leaf but should they have to choose, they will choose Naruto and Anko over the Leaf.
Hiruzen took that threat as it was, and narrowed his eyes on the Suna container, speaking lowly. "Is that a threat?"
Gaara did not back down or buckle under the Hokage's gaze, but rather smirked. A feral, and promising smirk, as he informed the room at large. "No, Lord Hokage. I do not make threats, they are meaningless and unbinding. Just pointing out a fact of life as surely as one might find death. In layman terms, Lord Hokage, what I am saying is more of a promise. A promise to my brother-in-arms and circumstance."
Naruto smirked foxily at that, as did his tenant, their first friend sure has a way with words and a flare for the dramatic. Similar thoughts were had by those in attendance. Though Temari was unsure when her little brother became a smart ass with a silver tongue in politics. Not that she minded, in fact, she was rather proud of him for defending his friend like this.
The elders had not looked away from the sand and fire spilling around the two boys arms, that had maintained stable despite their conversation continuing. Just how much control did the two have over their elemental natures.
Eventually, Hiruzen inclined his head, speaking up, "Very well. When are you returning?"
Gaara did not miss a beat. "Within the hour. We are spending it with our brother thus our presence here."
Hiruzen nodded, finishing up the meeting, "Very well. Do give your council our regards and condolences for Rasa."
Gaara nodded, "Unwarranted but appreciated."
Finally he and Naruto pulled their arms away and the fireworks show died down harmlessly. Hiruzen then ended the meeting, "Everyone is dismissed."
Just as Naruto's group reached the door, Hiashi stepped up, calling out. "Naruto-san. A word?"
Naruto glanced at the man for a moment. He figured this would happen at some point, so nodded, "Hiashi-san. Perhaps we can discuss things in your office in an hour. I wish to spend time with our guests."
Hiashi nodded firmly, "Very well. I will await your arrival."
Naruto inclined his head, offering a small smile as he left with his group.
Hidden Leaf; Hyuga compound
As promised, Naruto arrived at the Hyuga compound, finding Hiashi awaiting him at the gates with the guards standing tall in the presence of the clan leader. When they spotted the Uzumaki they were intrigued as they had obviously heard the revelation of the boys own byakugan. Blue tinted but most definitely a byakugan.
He must have clan blood in him, but from who is the big question on everyone's lips. Thus his presence here was expected unbarred. He was one of them and they all knew it.
As Naruto stops before the man, Hiashi asks. "You came alone?"
Naruto inclined his head at that, replying, "The Suna Contingent has already set off for home. Their mission completed. Anko-sensei has prisoners to interview. Besides, this is a rather personal and clan related matter. They would only complicate things."
Hiashi nodded to that, signalling him to follow and Naruto did silently.
The two were seen walking together by many, none seemed all too surprised but they were all wondering the same thing. If this outsider of the clan is to be inducted into it where would he stand and into what house. Where does his blood come from and how thick does it run.
One of these wanting those answers was Neji Hyuga, who watched from the training ground. He had been soundly beaten by this outsider who bastardised the gentle fist and created his own style, free from the rigid doctrine of the clan and it was by far more superior to it. Is it because he was fated to be a free bird, while he himself remained caged? No. He is a genius. Surely, there is a way. A way none have yet traversed.
Another one watching this from afar was one Hinata Hyuga, who is still giddy at the fact that Naruto was with her father in the compound. If he returns to the clan, then perhaps she can show and teach him how to use the gentle fist. Spend time with him and eventually get noticed by him. Her resolve settled, determination growing in her heart, she set sight on her new goal. With Naruto-kun at her side they can change the clan together from within.
Reaching the clan heads office, Naruto followed in wordlessly, trying to ignore the whispers and numerous stares on him as he finally removes his hands from his trench coat pocket and closes the door behind him.
The second it shuts, a privacy seal goes up and Hiashi gestured to the seat ahead of him. Naruto takes it, and both remain silent as the clan head pours them both tea. Hiashi was taken aback at the fact that Naruto knew proper tea decorum, performing the relevant steps with flawless precision. He was unaware of Anko's diehard obsession with the art. She naturally drilled him into the ground with it to. No brother of hers will be a barbarian in this department.
Finally, Hiashi asked the question on everyone's lips, "Do you know where your byakugan came from?"
Naruto sip his tea slowly, before lowering it and staring into the depths, before nodding simply. Hiashi then asked. "May I ask for names?"
Again, Naruto simply inclined his head, stating. "I was carried to ten month term and birthed by Kushina Uzumaki. Thus my large reserves and dense chakra. In that sense, I am an Uzumaki by her blood."
Hiashi nodded, knowing this and the woman, before sipping his tea. Naruto waits for the man to swallow before continuing, "My father is Minato Namikaze. My general appearance is from him."
Haishi nodded and awaited the boy to finish sipping his tea. Naruto then continued, "However what is not so well known is that my mother failed to conceive naturally. The sealing process of the Kyuubi within her, had an unforeseen issue at some point. It caused her to fall barren."
Hiashi raised a brow at that, clearly not understanding something, and Naruto nodded before sighing as if the weight of the world was upon him at that moment. After another sip of tea, Naruto continued onto what the clan head no doubted wanted to know. "That is was told but apparently, that was not the entire truth exactly. But I digress…"
Looking dead in the older man's eyes, Naruto stated. "A very long story short, your late wife, and sister-in-law, at one point, apparently had my mother over and heard about this dilemma of hers."
Hiashi eyes were wide as dinner plates, and Naruto nodded, skipping to the end. "Yes. As you probably figured out by that statement, Neji is my older brother. Hinata my younger sister."
The younger of the two offered a weak half smile. "And by default, your step-son of sorts."
Hiashi was confused, that did not make any sense. How could he be siblings to both his daughter and his brother's son. "That doesn't make any sense."
Naruto snorted, shaking his head before sipping his tea, a long deep sip before letting out a very deep heavy sigh. Eventually he looks dead into Hiashi's eyes, shrugging carelessly, "Do not ask me. It still confuses the hell outta me too. Sensei has checked the results three times. They are cousins to one another but genetic siblings to me and I them."
Hiashi as at a loss for words. Naruto was unsurpried as most would be. Anko was, when she first saw the results and just stared blankly at the paper. Naruto passed out. Woke up. Then just stared as she did. Now Hiashi was the third to know and he was as bad as Anko was. This is confusing.
Just as Naruto placed his empty tea cup on the low table, Hiashi snaps out and asks tentatively. "Four parents?"
Naruto nodded, confirming. "Four parents. Three mothers and one father."
Hiashi rubs his eyes at the paperwork of this all. This is most unexpected but then again, it also explains Naruto's flexibility as his wife was well known for her water variation of the gentle fist. The elders still complain about it to this day. Just like they are already complaining about Naruto's bastardised version he displayed yesterday.
Guess it runs in the family. Hiashi mused for a moment before looking back at the boy before him, one of his late wife's legacies. One of her children she left behind. A lost son of the clan. Neshi too must hear of this. This boy is his nephew. Which brings another thought to mind, so Hiashi voices it. "Will you take up the clan name?"
Naruto popped a brow at that, bewildered by that statement for all of a moment, before replying with a low chuckle slowly shaking his head. "And allow myself to be branded? Not a chance in hell. No doubt those elders of yours are planning on branding me before I can leave the grounds."
Hiashi frowned at that, he was likely not wrong. How distasteful. He just got part of his wife back and was now not too inclined to allow him have such free reign anymore now that he knows of it. Then again, Neji will need to be informed to. They are brothers. Hinata will be heartbroken to find this out. Hanabi though, will likely be ecstatic at a new older brother. An idea came to mind. "Let us come to an agreement then?"
Intrigued, Naruto smirked, "Oh?"
Hiashi remained blank face as he recognised that smirk anywhere. Perhaps his sister-in-law's legacy too runs just as thickly as his wife's. The man continued seemingly unfazed. "Take up the clan name in your chunin promotion paperwork and I will ensure your safety from the elders."
Naruto thought on it for a moment, perfectly blank faced now as he takes apart the offer. Something Anko drilled into him with the amount of Dango she's been able to get him pay for over the last month. He finally asks. "The catch?"
Hiashi suspected Minato's side was making an appearance now, that sharp blue stare was his without a doubt, as the clan head replies. "I shall train you for he next three months to properly and efficiently utilise our dojutsu. If you are able to best another chunin within the clan, of the elders choosing, it should provide me with the clan strength to protect you from them indefinitely."
Naruto had been nodding on, noticing how he hadn't actually answered his question but asked anyway. "Indefinitely? How do you plan on doing that?"
Hiashi nodded, sensing how close Naruto was to figuring out his larger ploy, replying. "By officially adopting you into the main house. You will be protected from them under my direct command."
Naruto looked skeptical about this all, sure. Having an actual teacher to teach him how to use his eyes instead of copying what he saw, going through trail and error until something works sounds great and all. This last month has proved teachers worth in his eyes in the form of Anko. Teacher from hell but exactly what he needed, apparently.
His thoughts suddenly halted, as if jukened, upon figuring it out. Hiashi had noticed that sparkle of realisation and understanding, and knew the gig was up. Damn it Minato, could you not give your son that quick wit and high intelligence.
Naruto snapped to the Hyuga head, eyes narrowed as he muttered lowly. "You want me to marry in the clan, right?"
Hiashi sighed, falling out his typical hyuga persona, and reaches for the tea pot, and pouring them both a refill. As he does he continued softer than before. "You are too much like your father."
As he returns the tea pot to the side, he looks into the blues of his step-son of sorts, Hiashi continued. "Yes. That is most likely to happen. A concession the elders will force upon us. I will fight it but it is all but certain. Even more so when they find out who you Hyuga parents are."
Naruto stared down into his mug for a while, before whispering their names beneath his breath. "Reiha and Sera."
Hiashi nodded, before continuing. "Both promising ladies who were linked to my brother and I. The fact they together gave you your byakugan is unprecedented. Even more so that it is blue and not the standard pale with a tint."
Naruto looked up at the man across from him, "is that supposed to mean something?"
Hiashi just shrugged, "It may. Even more so with both of their DNA making up part of yours. They were both strong kunoichi with top rate byakugan. It could be a new variant. We do not know anything at this point and many wish to unravel the secrets your eyes may hold."
Naruto just let out a sigh at that. This is starting to sound like a chore. Sure, he knew this would come when the Hyuga would demand answers. He wasn't hoping for much in return. This was the Hyuga clan we're talking about. Yet, here his step-dad of sorts is saying all this stuff about bloodline advancement and clan stuff. He was an orphan last week.
Sighing again, Naruto asks. "Secrets? Like new benefits and abilities?"
Hiashi was quick on the nod, explaining. "Yes. Do you have our normal enhanced sight? Chakra detection distance and resolution compared to our common place, or is it just a cosmetic thing due to Minato's heavy influence on your appearance."
Naruto shrugged, activating his eyes, and Hiashi saw how colour seemed to drain from the blues to the edge making them look more like a traditional Hyuga with a blue tint. Naruto replying, "Well, I have full vision."
Hiashi was intrigued so asked. "Microscopic and macroscopic?"
It took a while before Naruto nodded, "Yes. Though, with this barrier up, things are far too fuzzy for me to see much."
Hiashi was surprised but pleasantly so. The first unique thing has popped up already. "I see. Impressive."
Naruto raised a brow as he slowly deactivates his dojutsu, and refocusing on the clan head. "What is?"
Hiashi takes his time to sip his tea, and Naruto knew it too. After dragging out that as long as reasonably possible, Hiashi finally responded. "No Hyuga can see through this barrier. You could though."
Naruto chuckled lowly, "I see. What's next, you'll say you can't tell an opponents chakra nature?"
Hiashi confirmed with a nod, suspecting this is not the case for his step-son. "Only when they are moulding it or highly specialised in its use."
Naruto sighed again, rubbing his eyes at the level of bullshit growing before him. Hiashi though, wanted a confirmation and asked, "Can you tell me what element I…"
Naruto cut him off, "Yours is Earth. Though, you have a very slight tinge of water. Barely noticeable and I'd have to squint to catch it."
Hiashi nodded to confirm this, but Naruto didn't stop there. "Just like Neji. Though his secondary is fire. Though, that little girl that was with you in the stands during my match is very much a mirror image of yours."
Hiashi raised a brow at that, he was able to read it from back there. Impressive. Now though he was curious, and Naruto knew what he was going to say and beat him to it. "As for Hinata, it's the inverse though. Probably why the standard juken doesn't work with her, like it doesn't with me."
Hiashi stared at the boy in disbelief, watching as he casually takes his time sipping his tea. No doubt pay back for his doing so earlier. So he spoke up. "You know this, how?"
Naruto finally lowers his cup and swallows his tea before explaining, "I am a primary Water, secondary wind, and a minor in Earth."
He then holds up three fingers, before going into further details. "My water, my primary and strongest element, is likely from my mothers, Kushina and Reiha, your wife. My wind is from my father, an avid wind user, and lastly the Earth is likely from Sera."
As he listed them off, his dropped a finger, earning a nod from Hiashi, understanding where the boy was coming from and a logical deduction. Naruto finishes his point by saying. "The standard Juken doesn't work with my body type or chakra alignment. It's too rigid and constricting. Anko-sensei said that it doesn't conform to my higher level of agility and flexibility."
Hiashi nodded, understanding that now and where he need to take his daughter in order to improve her abilities. He responds. "Then, the standard juken won't work as it is an earth based taijutsu form?"
Upon Naruto's nod, Hiashi continued, "Is that why you created your own based on the snake style of Mitarashi-san?"
Naruto nodded again, explaining further. "Well, the exams was the first time I've used the byakugan in combat as, even with the Hyūga fighting style I copied from my observations of Hinata at the academy, and discarded clan scrolls in your trash, it was too constricting."
Hiashi frowned at the news. He makes a mental note to go over the trashing procedure of old scrolls moving forward. Naruto continued. "During the break, When Anko-sensei and I bumped into each other, I brought her into my secret. She took me into the forest of death and trained me day and night to perfect her forms."
Taking a sip of tea, Naruto then continued. "I haven't finished the intermediate level yet, but we managed to merge in the juken really easy. We call it the all-seeing viper. Using primarily speed, agility, flexibility and the unpredictability of the snake style paired with the all seeing eye to strike fast at any angle but with the grace of the gentle fist."
Hiashi nodded, it was very hard to track the strikes Naruto performed on Neji who had no direct counter within the standard gentle fist kata's he was drilled in. Then it's settled and he is satisfied, thus informed. "Very well. Then tonight, you will be our guest here and tomorrow morning to have a demonstration of it's effectiveness."
Naruto gaped and wanted to protest, but Hiashi raisaed his hand preventing it as he continued. "I will also go through the clan scrolls. I do believe your mothers both have scrolls on their own personal variations on the base gentle fist. My wife's should serve both you and Hinata well as she too had a water nature."
Naruto bit his lip but remained silent, allowing Hiashi to continue. "Your training will begin tomorrow morning, nice and early."
The barrier comes down and they both stand, Naruto nodding, "Okay. Hiashi-san."
Haishi raised a brow at the formality but he guessed it was nerves as he approached the door, pulling apart to find both Hinata and Hanabi in the corridor. Clearly attempting to listen in.
Both girls watched as Hiashi and Naruto raised the same brow in the exact same manner upon blank faces which caused their pink cheeks to redden more so. First it was out of embarrassment but now it was out of effort to not laugh aloud.
Hiashi though got an idea, and nodded to himself, "Perfect timing. Hinata, please retrieve Neji from the branch house. I believe dinner is about to be served, yes?"
Hinata straightened up, and nodded, "Yes, Lord father. I shall retrieve him at once."
Hiashi nodded, before adding, "Tell him, That Naruto-san is joining us and that I have asked for him personally."
Hinata bowed, "Yes, Lord Father. At once."
She promptly departs as fast as she could walk without running. Clearly enjoying the fact that her Naruto-kun would be joining them.
Hanabi was unashamedly staring blankly at Naruto who was stared back. A silent battle that Hiashi was watching curiously. Just as they past the two minute mark, Hanabi averted her gaze with a huff. Naruto smirked. His baby sister was a good opponent but not on his level. He shall train her well.
Hanabi got a shudder up her back and for some reason glared at Naruto for reasons unknown to her at current, but this only caused Naruto to grin harder and wider. Definitely Sera's influence, Hiashi noted.
At dinner…
Hiashi sat at the tables head, with Hinata on his left, Hanabi beyond her. Naruto sat on his right, Neji beside him, as the food was served. The second the servers left, Hiashi activated the privacy seals again causing all but Naruto to look to him. Haishi though, looked to Naruto who let out a deep sigh. This was nerve wrecking.
Instead, he simply reached into his equipment pouch and pulled out a scroll, which earned a raised brow from Hiashi, even more so when Naruto handed it to Neji. Said boy was certainly curious about everything, and upon seeing the nod from Hiashi, who suspected what it was, Neji took it and opened it.
It took only seconds before Neji froze stiff. So stiff that he dropped the parchment before looking incredulously at Naruto. Naruto kept his head down, unable to look back at him. This remained the case until Hiashi asked. "Neji, care to explain?"
Neji finally looked away from his younger brother, and up to Hiashi, and asked. "Is this true?"
Hiashi nodded firmly. "From what I have been told, they have been triple checked, so yes."
Upon those words, Naruto produced another two scrolls, proof's of his claim. Neji looked over them all and surely enough, they all said the same thing with the signatures and times being listed with different doctors. No mistake was made.
On the opposite side of the table, the two girls were might curious as to what was being said but clearly missing something. Hinata's curiosity won out over her shyness, asking. "Neji-nii-sama. What does it say exactly?"
Neji then looked up to his cousin across from him then to Naruto for a long time before sighing, then offering a hand on the younger boy's shoulder. He is clearly nervous about being rejected, and as much as he disliked how he was bested with seemingly little ease, this at least made it tolerable, somewhat.
Naruto looks to Neji who gave him a stiff nod, gesturing to the other. "I will not turn you away. They will not either."
Taking a deep breath, and nodded to the older teen, correction, brother, before looking to the clan head who too nodded with a slight smile. Taking another breath he looks to Hinata and Hanabi, stating. "Well, those scrolls hold my DNA results. It tells us where exactly I got my byakugan from."
Both girls nod, understanding that, so Naruto continues. "It says, that I am the son of four people."
This caused raised eyebrows, as that was unheard of but Naruto continued, "My non-Hyuga parents were Kushina Uzumaki, who was the one to actually give birth to me, thus my name. The other, my father, was Minato Namikaze. The Fourth Hokage."
Now both girls had their jaws dropped. Naruto was the son of the fourth. Naruto though continued onto the relevant part. "However my other two parents, the Hyuga ones, are Reiha and Sera Hyuga."
Hinata froze. All eyes looked to her. As her mind was struggling to compute that. Her mother, was Naruto's too? Naruto-kun is her brother? But. That. Wait. Auntie Sera too. Huh. In typical Hinata fashion; she fainted. Though, this time none blamed her.
Hanabi though still looked confused, not knowing the names like her sister did. Thus not knowing what that meant exactly and so asked. "So? What does that mean?"
Neji answered swiftly. "In short, Lady Hanabi, that means that Naruto here is your older brother via your shared mother."
Hanabi looked wide-eyed then snapped to her father, who nodded to confirm, then looking to the blond in question, who smiled and offered a half wave. She shrieked, "Your my brother?! Then, that means… wait, what does that mean? I have another older brother who can teach me stuff right?"
Naruto chuckled nervously, she reminds him of Kono. Neji replied, calmly, "However."
Hanabi calmed down just enough to focused on Neji's words, that came swiftly, "He is also my brother too. It explains how good he is with the gentle fist."
Naruto caught the smirk the stuck-up prick had, and growled. "I was rather motivated to kick your ass after what you did to my little sister, asshole."
Neji realised that too, and looked away, damn. He was right.
Hinata caught that as she was coming too and promptly fainted again. Her Naruto-kun. Or Naruto-nii-sama. Both sounded nice.
That night Naruto was watched over by two branch members as well as a main house Hyūga. Neshi Hyūga, brother of Reiha Hyūga, the late Hyūga clan Matriarch, had been privately briefed by Hiashi of Naruto's status as his nephew. He also agreed at the likelihood of the elder council trying to brand him was high without question. Thus the guards.
It's been a crazy few days…
A/N: Another one recovered from my Fanfic folder. All these fanfics where Naruto gets the sharigan, and none out here talking about the byakugan. Here was my one shot idea on it. It's wacky, holds untested elements I am olaying around with and generally just all over the place.
No story beyond this so I have labelled it complete. No pairing either as stated, there is literally nothing beyond this. I will not budge on this.
