Bon Viviant-A food judge and likes food.

The Kappa-A turtle-spirit who only likes cucumbers and lives at a lake at Mother's Hill.

It was the day of The Cooking Festival and a man was at the judging table in Rose Plaza.

Anna was the first to attend.

"I have a special gift for you, this year, Bon Vivant!"

"You always have special dishes, Anna." said Bon Vivant.

Anna presented Bon with her dish. "It's cucumber salad!"

Bon Vivant was in a metal suit. He was in four emerald buttons, emerald antenna, an emblem of animal with yellow, red and blue, green goggles on a metal hat, a frilly white neckerchief and blonde hair.

"I've never had a cucumber dish before!" Bon said.

Little by little, more and more people presented their food to Bon.

When it was over, Bon Vivant announced the winner.

"Anna wins, like always!" he said.

Anna bowed at the crowd. Everyone cheered!

"Now, I must leave!" Bon said.

Anna stopped him. "Why not stay at our inn until morning?"

Bon thought for a moment. "I suppose so."

So, Anna and Bon Vivant walked together to the inn.

That night, Bon layed awake in an inn bed.

He heard Anna talking to Dudley and Gray.

"It's a problem that Bon Vivant only visits once a year!" Anna whispered harshly. "We should teach each other how to cook!"

"Why not ask him tomorrow?" Dudley asked.

"I agree!" said Gray.

"I think so, too!" said Anna.

Bon Vivant grumbled, then went to sleep.

The next morning, Bon moved all his things into a backpack and prepared to leave.

Anna approached him.

"Bon-"

"Save yourself the trouble," said Bon Vivant. "I heard you last night. I have no reason left to live in this place. And I won't teach you."

Anna frowned. Then an idea occurred to her. "You have leftIovers from yesterday, yes?"

"Yes, definitely," said Bon.

"Well, here's some fresh food!" said Anna.

She presented Bon Vivant a dish another dish of cucumber salad.

"Only one?" Bon asked.

"This one's more fresh!" said Anna. "I didn't cut the cucumber!"

"I'll have it to go!" said Bon Vivant.

He got out a piece on tin foil and wrapped it. There were also other dishes with also wrapped that Anna may see.

"This is 32!" said Bon.

"Wow!" said Anna. "How'd that happen?"

"31 people entered, including you," said Bon Vivant. "All teenagers and adults."

"And the town children, Yu and Mei?"

"They're too young to participate. They're unable to cook,' said Bon.

"And if they help their parents?" Anna asked.

"That's cheating," Bon Vivant said.

Anna shrugged. "Oh, well!"

Then Dudley appeared.

"Tell him about the lake on Mother's Hill?"

Anna blinked. "Not yet!"

"Huh?" asked Bon in confusion.

"There's a rumor that a Kappa lives in the lake on Mother's Hill, like I mentioned," said Dudley.

"Meaning there's a person who's available for the festival in this town who didn't show up?! And what's a Kappa?"

"Who, not what," said Dudley. "He's a magical turtle spirit."

"And what food does he cook?" Bon Vivant.

Anna and Dudley stared. "We have no clue."

"But you may only see him if you throw food in the lake," said Dudley.

"Which food?" Bon asked.

Both of the others shrugged.

Regardless of the circumstances, Bon Vivant's courage continued.

"Then I'll find out, myself!"

So, Bon left, determined to find out the facts.

Bon was at the lake. He started immediately.

"I'll throw all the food in the lake!" he said. "And it was a vegetable contest this year, as well!"

He threw in everything. All 32 dishes!

He threw in Fried cabbage, Cowboy Beans, Red Beans and Rice, Collard Greens, Beef and Broccoli, Succotash, New England Boiled Dinner, Maque Choux, Boston Baked Beans, Senate Bean Soup, Potatoes O'Brien, Maine Baked Beans, Pork and Beans, Maine Fiddleheads, Burgoo, Caramel Tomatoes, Pado'lalo', Gollai Hågon Suni, Luchen Biringhenas, Sopa Tarasca, Diri Ak Pwa, Frijoles Charros, Frijoles Puercos, Frijoles De La Olla, Arroz y Habichuelas, Oxtail with Broad Beans, Chiles en Nogada, Sopa Tarasca, Fritto Misto, Corn The Cob and Cucumber Salad!

Nothing worked.

"I suppose I should throw in this Cucumber and only this Cucumber in," Bon Vivant said. "It's the last thing."

So, Bon threw it in.

And out popped a turtle spirit!

He was in a brown coat and black jacket, black shoes, white scarf, green skin, short green hair, a duck bill and a blue hat in swirls.

"I am The Kappa!" he said to Bon Vivant. "Why are you here?"

"To find you! You didn't participate in the town's Cooking Festival, today!" Bon said.

"I don't ever leave this place," said Kappa.

"And the only thing you ever eat is Cucumbers?" asked Bon Vivant.

"I've never tried anything else," said The Kappa.

"What about all the other foods people throw in your pond?" Bon asked.

"I put it through a drain and it drifts out to sea," said Kappa.

"Wouldn't you like to see the world? Eat new foods?" asked Bon Vivant.

"Well, I fear people will see me and-" The Kappa was cut off.

"Then follow me!" Bon said. "It's getting dark, anyhow!"

So, Bon Vivant and Kappa went to the inn.

Bon and Kappa sneaked in another door. There was a lot of chatter and they knew that the other guests were hitting the juice. Real juice, regardless.

They went into Bon Vivant's room.

"I'll sleep on the floor," said Bon. "You may have the bed."

Kappa layed in bed. "I've never been in this before."

"Would you rather have the floor?" Bon Vivant asked.

"Yes!" said The Kappa.

Then they switched places.

"It reminds me of sleeping on a log," said Kappa.

"You've slept on a log, literally?" Bon asked.

"Yes," said The Kappa.

"In any case, I can't show you to the innkeepers. So, I'll give them a hefty tip," said Bon Vivant.

"Sounds good!" said Kappa.

Then they drifted off to sleep.

The next morning, Bon went downstairs. He saw Dudley and Anna.

"Hi, Bon!" said Dudley. "I'm going out for a juice run. We ran out last night.

Dudley left. Bon Viviant approached the counter.

"Where were you last night?" Anna asked.

"Anna," he said. "May I ask you a favor?"

"I want to ask you a favor, first," said Anna.

"Okay," said Bon Vivant.

"Be my teacher?" Anna asked.

Bon was flustered! "What?!"

"I win the Cooking Festival every year! That should be enough reason to teach me!" Anna said.

"But you have a husband!" said Bon Vivant. "Why would you want to learn from me when I travel the world. And where is your husband, anyhow? I haven't seen him in a while."

"He's at an art convention. He won't be back for a while. And that proves that both I and my husband travel." Anna said in argument.

"But not for an entire year, like me!" Bon said.

Anna was upset, so she walked away.

"Where are you about?" Bon Vivant asked.

"Fixing your sheets!" Anna said.

Bon chased after her. Anna didn't know who she was about to discover!

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Bon Viviant burst through the door in front of Anna.

"HIDE!" Bon yelled.

Kappa hid under the bed.

"Is there somebody else in here?" Anna asked.

Before Bon Vivant should help, Anna checked the bed.

"THE KAPPA!"

Kappa went forward from the bed.

"Sorry to bother you," he said. "I'll return home, now."

"I'm sorry to bother you, Anna," said Bon. "I was about to pay you extra!"

"I want him here!" said Anna.

Bon Vivant and The Kappa looked at her, confused.

"Why?" they both asked.

"I love to cook and this will be a challenge!" she said. "I mean, what do you eat?"

"Cucumbers," said Kappa.

"And?'" Anna asked.

"That's it," said The Kappa.

"Then I'll cook for you Cucumber Dishes!" Anna said in delight.

"I only like raw Cucumber," said Kappa.

"Give us a chance!" said Bon Vivant with a grin.

The Kappa thought for a moment. "Okay."

So, Bon and Anna began to cook for Kappa.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Bon Vivant and Anna spent the entire day feeding The Kappa. It was now evening.

"I never chanced that I should love all this food!"

Then Bon hatched an idea!

"Kappa, are you ready to see the last of the townspeople?"

Kappa panicked. "Um, um!"

He went outside so nobody may catch him.

"Kappa!" Bon yelled.

Bon Vivant went after The Kappa.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Bon found Kappa at the lake, again. The sun was rising. Bon Vivant saw him in the morning glow.

"I'm able," The Kappa said.

They left the sun and they went into town.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Bon and Kappa went for a wonderful walk threw town! Some stared, but Bon Vibrant reassured The Kappa.

Some also walked up to them and bid them a hello.

Soon, everyone in town met The Kappa!

"I have to prepare for my boat," said Bon.

"A boat?" asked Kappa.

"I'll tell you later!" Bon Vivant said.

Then they returned to the inn.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Bon and Kappa met Gray and Anna there.

"Why return so soon?" Bon Vivant asked Gray.

"The convention wasn't very long," said Gray.

"Still want to travel and be my apprentice?" Bon asked Anna.

"Not if Gray is unable to travel," Anna said.

"Huh?" asked a confused Gray.

"Tell later," said Anna.

"You're leaving?!" Kappa asked.

"A KAPPA?!" Gray asked in surprise.

"Again, later!" said Anna.

The Kappa went out the door.

Bon Vivant followed.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

The Kappa was, again, at the lake.

"I just met you," he said. "Now, you're traveling!"

"Why matter?" asked Bon Vivant.

"You showed me new things!" The Kappa said.

"Anna-" but Bon was cut off.

"And you showed me new people! I'm not afraid anymore!" said Kappa.

Bon Vivant smiled. He embraced The Kappa. "Then travel with me!"

"Okay!" said Kappa.

"But before that, let's get married!" said Bon.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Bon Vivant and The Kappa stood by Father Carter in matrimony.

"Bon Vivant will be first," said Carter.

Bon presented a blue feather.

"Kappa, I'm happy to have a man who shared my love for food! And I'd love to travel with you! I love you!"

Kappa obtained the blue feather.

He presented his own blue feather.

"Bon, I'm happy, too! You showed me new things and new people. I love you, too!"

Bon obtained the other blue feather.

Bon Vivant and The Kappa walked down the aisle when Claire appeared.

"We're either of you living on this Island in the past?" she asked.

"No," said Bon Vivant. "Only traveled."

"And I only lived in the lake!" said Kappa.

"Never mind!" Claire said.

So, Claire was left unsure. But Bon Vivant and The Kappa traveled the world together!
