I hope I do this right. There's a lot of separate stories to keep track of, especially with the time skip.

Here is the continuation :D

Have to say, I probably might mention them somehow but right now the extent of these fallen gods is still restricted to our current antagonists (plus Anubis in the black hole)

Yes, a clone and "deranged" version. Everything is a trop nowadays so that argument is a shitty take. So guess what? Here's the amnesia trope that I was toying the idea of with and decided to go with. Hell is a religious place, the one used as the setting for Hazbin and Helluva being the Christian version. So yes, there is biblical talk (we have God and angels and demons, duh). Your complaints, while valid to you, just seem to nitpick a fanfic I make in my free time. If it's boring and tiring, okay then continue on to something else.
Here is Book II of HWWP; The Prophecy Child.
I decided to create a new fic to keep things clean but I am answering the reviews from Book I in here.
The Prophecy Child
Your Future Awaits
"So, you actually died."
Naruto looked over his shoulder - maybe he did, at least - and in the pitch blackness he found a clone of himself. He immediately recognized them as the same clone from when he tapped into his transformation.
"I didn't think I would be seeing you again," Naruto commented as he turned around to face the clone. "Is this the point where you'll actually answer my question on who and what you are?"
The clone cracked a grin and he chuckled softly. "I guess so. There won't be any other moment in time after this."
Naruto narrowed his eyes at the clone's words as he could recognize the dire undertone used. He just couldn't tell why that was. "I'm ready to listen whenever you want to start talking."
The clone nodded his head. "The short answer is that I am your humanity, the piece of you bound by the same laws of creation as the others that were made by God. I am your mortality, your weakness, your limit."
The clone scratched the back of his head for a brief moment of pause and tugged on his earlobe a few times mindlessly. "When you were created, your destiny was first to bring change or punishment on Ninkai. The Child of Prophecy was a skewed and mistranslated prophecy that even Jiraiya did not fully comprehend. All that was understood fully was how important our fate was."
That word brought a bad taste to Naruto's mouth. Fate. He hated that with every fiber of his being ever since hearing Neji first mention it. To be told that he had followed one of his own despite calling it bullshit and that he would not do something so absurd?
Well, that just put a bad taste in his mouth.
"And what you are now is a mix of me, your limit," the clone motioned to himself before hesitantly doing the same to him, "and your divine capabilities. Without me, your experiences in life, you are just the Grandson God and the scale that decides the future of everything."
Naruto's internal alarms and instincts screamed at him by the end of the clone's statement and he took a step back as he realized what that undertone meant. "You… you're no longer a part of me, are you?"
The clone smiled sadly and shook his head. "No, I am not. When we died in that cell, you had given up everything you were, everything that encompasses me, in your final moments through the Holy Spirit's prayer and God's embrace. That means that after everything is done here, I will fade away to leave you to find out your destiny."
Naruto froze and swallowed thickly. "That means… I will lose who I am."
"Yes," the clone confirmed with a grim nod. "Not everything will be gone because your experiences will have left an imprint on your existence. But it is necessary to go back."
"But if that's true, how will I remember everyone? What if I don't…" he couldn't finish the sentence.
What if he doesn't love his precious people anymore? What if he considers them enemies? He doesn't want to hurt them in any way.
"You will be reborn near the person that cares and thinks about you the most. They will pick up the pieces from there," the clone gave the apologetic response with a bow of his head.
"What if I refuse to risk that?" Naruto asked hotly, his face twisted in a sneer as he regarde the clone hatefully. "What if I choose to just stay here forever no matter what you say?"
The clone raised an eyebrow and crossed his arms. "It's not like I'm the one holding you here. I don't even have a choice to stay, that is out of both of our controls now. You will live on whether you want to or not."
"Then what's the point of all of this?"
"To give one last answer before we part ways," the clone looked up and there was a sheen of unshed tears. "These answers were not to be given in such dire circumstances but here we are, thrown to the mercy of the winds of fate. You may remember this, or maybe not, but that hardly matters."
Naruto was spooked by a sudden bang, the sound reverberating in his head. "What was that?"
The clone sighed. "It's that time. You have to live a life you could have had if the Darkness did not end our mortal life so early. A life that I hold inside."
Naruto turned to question his clone but was surprised to see them flickering in and out of existence.
"You will be happy for a while, you will get the family you always wanted, and when it all ends you will be reborn. Enjoy it while you can, and maybe you can remake that happiness next time." The clone faded away and a ghostly statement was left like the breeze of the wind. "Good luck."
Azrael looked into the mirror, finding his exhausted reflection staring back. His usually healthy pure white skin that took the appearance of rich alabaster and marble was now dull and weak. His eyes no longer shined in an amused golden and the bags underneath only amplified how unhealthy he really was.
His hair is messy, shaggy now compared to the stylish slicked back look he used to have. He pulled his skin under his eye down and looked at the sharp red lines of stress infecting the whites of his eyes.
The nightmares he had been experiencing were nightly now, the frequency of which he got them near constant whenever he closed his eyes. It was exhausting and concerning as that meant that even with the Child's death he was not free from this future.
But how could it be that he will be used in such a way if the Child was gone?
He let go with a sigh and quickly turned the water on. He gathered some in his cupped hands before bringing it to his face. He rubbed a few times before turning the faucet off and grabbing a towel to dry his face.
"Why must you harass me even from death," Azrael asked the blonde that was still on his mind. "What do you want from me?"
And yet, just like all the other times he asked his simple question, he got no answer. Nothing to ease his stress and worries.
But there was something different this time. Unlike the countless times before, there was something new presenting itself in his home. This was a subtle sensation at first, almost like a feeling of Deja vu or sixth sense. Then it exploded.
Literally.
Ka-booooommmm
He shielded himself with his wings, protecting himself from the debris and personal objects launching everywhere in the room. He waited a few moments before lowering his wings to see what happened, and who would dare to attack him.
The smoke cleared slowly, revealing a destroyed bedroom that seemed to be struck by a raging tornado, and inside is a figure kneeling in the middle of it all. Azrael's blood ran cold when he recognized the person; the unmistakable golden hair and scarred cheeks left only one person in existence.
Naruto was there, gasping and clutching his body as he stayed kneeling in the wrecked room. While he appeared the same as before his death, there was something just slightly off. His vibrant presence was now muted, replaced by a vacant expression and sense of loss. His golden hair that was always a mess but in a stylish type of way was now just a wild mane that looked bestial at best. As for his clothes-
Where are his clothes?!
Azrael's face turned shocked as he realized the blonde dead boy was very naked and very visible to his eyes.
Naruto blinked slowly, cautiously scanning the room with his steel blue eyes before they locked onto Azrael. His lips curled a bit, almost hesitating or struggling to voice his clear confusion.
"Who… where am I?" He finally asked, his voice soft, hoarse and uncertain.
"This is impossible," Azrael's breath caught in his throat as he realized this was not a hallucination. "You're dead. I saw your body myself."
Naruto tilted his head and looked at himself. "Dead? That's weird, I don't look dead."
He then pinched himself as he stood uneasily on his feet. "Nope, I don't feel dead either. Then again, I don't remember feeling alive, either."
Azrael's amber eyes bore into him in clear confusion. "What do you mean you don't remember?"
Naruto shrugged casually, an awkward and lopsided grin appearing. "I don't remember anything. I don't know who I am, where I am, or even how I got here." Then he raised a finger and pointed at Azrael as his grin widened mischievously. "But you seem to know me. Are you a current or ex boyfriend or something?"
Azrael's face lit up a dark and brilliant crimson as his dull white skin became flushed from the simple question. His wings flared out in a flustered, embarrassed motion as he shouted. "W-What?! Absolutely not!" He tried to fight back a few stammering words as he reigned in his outburst that startled even himself. "I would not be caught dead with someone like you. I am an Elder Angel."
"An Elder? Sounds fancy," Naruto grinned as he tilted his head to look at the flustered angel. "But no, seriously, we had to be close. You're blushing very hard. Are you sure we didn't have a thing? Behind the scenes, forbidden love or something?"
"Cease your disgusting words!" Azrael snapped, his embarrassment intensifying to its limits.
He turned away, struggling to compose himself, but the revived boy's grin just stayed in his mind despite his best efforts. It seems that even with some kind of amnesia, he had a way to annoy the hell out of him.
Taking a deep breath, Azrael forced himself to face the naked boy once more. "Are you serious that you don't remember anything?"
Naruto's teasing grin faded and was replaced by a more serious expression. "Yeah. I have just some… bits and pieces, It's broken, shattered like glass and I have trouble seeing it too well. There are some blurry faces but nothing noticeable. Only you seem to pop up now, now that I think about it."
Azrael ignored the heat rising in his chest as he knew that the blonde did not mean it teasingly or any similar way. The clear loss and vulnerability in his tone made it clear that he meant it when he said he remembered nothing.
He studied the boy carefully as his mind raced with explanations and excuses. This was really not the Naruto he knew. The confident, defiant Overlord and prophecy child who had done extraordinary things was gone, replaced by someone lost and vulnerable with so much missing in his life. But the question is how? And why was it that he appeared here and now?
"You were dead," Azrael repeated, his voice much softer now. "We found your body. There were… tears on your face."
Naruto's frown deepened as he noticed how the archangel was upset over the memory of his apparent death. It must have been traumatizing if the cloudy emotion that surrounded him was anything to go by. He wasn't sure why but he could tell what the emotion is just from feeling alone.
There was a bit of anger, sadness, but also a pain unfamiliar to him.
"I'm sorry," he said softly, though he didn't know why he was apologizing. "I don't remember any of that, but it sounds like it was rough. I wish I could ease the pain."
Azrael's heart clenched for a brief moment in genuine sorrow before something else bloomed in his chest. It quickly became some kind of joy but it was hollow, almost blatantly fake. He didn't understand the feeling at first, even moreso when that feeling itself went away, but one thing was clear; Naruto was back and with him came a host of questions and uncertainties.
Should he bring him back to Hell for his friends to take care of him? He almost thought the decision was clear to him, a fat yes to get rid of the focus of his nightmares. But then he doubted himself and that solution.
The reason his nightmares continued was clearly because Naruto is still alive somehow. So, the reason his nightmares had become more vivid and more certain of the outcome is also clear now. The blonde will be going down the road that leads to him being the evil Ender of all Things.
So what if… what if Azrael just keeps him in Driftwood Cathedral? He clearly doesn't know anything, so that means he was a blank slate! He can be changed into the true saviour, and he won't abuse his divinity like he sees in his nightmares.
"So, uh…," Naruto broke the silence with an awkward laugh, scratching the back of his head. "What now? Do you have a manual for dealing with resurrected amnesiacs, or do we just wing it?"
Azrael gave a smile and grabbed the boy's hand, tugging him to sit on the bed. "I'll fill you in on who you are, but first let's get you dressed."
"Sounds like a plan," Naruto grinned, although felt a bit flushed at the physical contact. "Do you even have anything my size? I don't know if you can't tell, but you are so much skinnier than me. Almost effeminate, if I'm honest."
"You're impossible." Azrael rolled his eyes but he saw the truth in the boy's words.
"And apparently unforgettable, if you're anything to go by," Naruto teased with a grin. "You wear your emotions on your sleeves."
"How would you know, you're an amnesiac, remember," Azrael shot back but blushed when he saw how intensely the blonde was looking at him. "Continue looking at me like that and I'll make sure you don't have eyes to see with."
Naruto chuckled but looked down at the floor. "As you wish, Azrael-kun."
The angel sneered briefly before turning on his heel for the door. "I'll go see what I can scrounge up among the servants and soldiers. Stay here."
"Yes, sir."
Naruto moved his arms and body around as he got used to the clothes he just got into. He was now wearing a rust brown shirt under a black windbreaker jacket, stonewash navy blue jeans with black boots. At first he had underwear to wear but it turned out that there wasn't any that would fit him, either being too tight for his junk or too loose and just looked awkward on him.
Azrael helped him, making sure everything fit and noting the different size adjustments needed when he eventually went to buy clothes for the blonde. He watched the boy silently, idly smiling as he actually enjoyed clothing and helping the amnesiac Child of God.
"How's this?" Naruto asked as he spun around slowly before stopping to face the angel.
"Looking better," Azrael nodded with a smile.
"As if you weren't enjoying seeing me naked," Naruto teased with a grin but helped a small scream as he felt something stab his side.
"Enough of that," Azrael warned as he commanded his personal staff back into the aether.
"Come on, I know you like me!" Naruto whined exasperated. "I can literally feel your emotions and there's plenty of something like love or affection!"
"I will do more than just poke you if you continue," Azrael's tone lowered but his smile never left his face. "Don't you want to know who you are? Your name at least?"
"I was assuming you would after ogling me," Naruto flirted but screamed when he was actually whacked with the staff. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry!"
Azrael hummed as he kept the staff raised threateningly, his golden eyes narrowed in annoyance. "Your name is Apollyon, the Angel of the Void. And you were- are my assistant."
"Wait, I'm an Angel?!"
Azrael chuckled and nodded his head. "Yes, one of the strongest, too."
"Then why do I work for you?" Naruto asked and before he could get an answer, his eyes lit up and he gasped. "Wait, I'm in love with you!"
Whack!
"Ow!"
"What is it with you and a relationship between us?!"
"But you're so pretty!"
Whackwhackwhackwhack-
"Stop, Azrael-kun! Have mercy!"
"Stay dead!"
