Pete and I sat on the windowsill outside the children's room, hidden from the believers by the light brown curtain blowing rather heavily in a wind I somehow hadn't noticed. I turn to face wherever this strong breeze is coming from, my flushed face instantly cooling. "Pete, you have noticed the window is open, right?" I ask my boyfriend, raising an eyebrow. "I do have eyes, Jacob," Peter says, rolling his beautiful brown eyes at me. I smirk, running a hand through my eternally messy black hair, staring back at him with my eyes the colour of clovers. We link hands and sit there like that for a while, fair fingers entwined with fingers the colour of copper. Eventually though, we saw a couple walking out of the front door to this wonderful house. "Now's our chance, Pan Pipes" I mumbled to my boyfriend, calling him one of my many glorious nicknames. I caught the faint blush on Peter's face, highlighted by the direct moonlight on his face. I smiled. I loved making him smile unintentionally. We snuck through the open window, finding all four children asleep. I looked around as carefully as possible for a drawer key, so as to not awaken the tired kids. I gasped a little, cursing under my breath as I spotted the key to the drawer clutched in the hand of the girl. "Peter." He ignored me. "Pete? Hello?" He went right on staring out the window as if I didn't exist. I walk up to him, waving a hand in front of his face, forcing him back to reality. "Sorry, what did you say?" "I found the key to unlock your shadow. What on earth are you looking at this time?" He pointed a shaking finger out of the window next to us. Peering curiously out, I jumped a few metres back in shock when I saw the same couple from earlier, ant sized but definitely getting closer. "Well we need your shadow, don't we?" Pete nodded, sighing. "But Kobie, how are we meant to take the key out of that girl's hand?" I shrug, thinking. "I mean, we could always wake them all up and tell them that her stories are true…" I trail off, muttering. "I guess we don't have any better plans, do we?" "You're agreeing with me?" He nods. "Course I am." We walk around to the beds, him gently shaking awake the yawning kids, me… not so much. I'm not all that good at gentleness. I smiled awkwardly, standing next to Peter who was making rather a big show off all this, glancing proudly at all the kids, fists resting on his hips. "Hello, Darling kids! I'm Peter Pan, and this is Jacob Sterling"
