"So...I'm in another universe? How? Why? And how many universes are out there?" Ash asked Vados who explained Ash his unexpected situation during the last moments of the last chapter.
Vados smiled gracefully at Ash's barrage of questions. "Ah, such curiosity. Allow me to explain, young one." She tapped her staff lightly on the ground, conjuring a glowing, holographic projection of the multiverse.
"You are currently in Universe 6," she began. "It is one of twelve universes that make up the multiverse. Each universe has its own unique worlds, inhabitants, and rules. Your arrival here is quite unusual, as it seems to have been caused by some sort of dimensional disturbance—possibly an invention or event from your home dimension."
Ash's eyes widened as he took in the shimmering image of twelve numbered orbs connected by ethereal strands. Pikachu perched on his shoulder, tilting its head at the glowing projection. "So… there are twelve universes, and I just happened to land in this one?" Ash asked.
"Precisely," Vados said with a nod. "Though the specifics of how you arrived are unclear, your presence is certainly extraordinary. You are not native to this reality, and yet you seem to carry an energy that resonates with this universe's inhabitants. It is… fascinating."
"Whoa," Ash muttered, rubbing the back of his head. "Twelve universes… that's insane. How come I've never heard of this back home?"
"That is because the multiverse is largely hidden from most mortals," Vados explained. "Your world, and the dimension it resides in, likely operates under different cosmic rules. Only a few individuals—like the gods and angels who govern these universes—are aware of the multiverse's true nature."
Ash blinked. "Wait… gods? You mean, like, real gods?"
Vados chuckled softly. "Yes, indeed. Each universe is overseen by a God of Destruction and their angel attendant. In this universe, Lord Champa is the God of Destruction, and I am his attendant." She gestured gracefully to the large, grumpy figure slouched on a floating throne nearby.
Champa huffed, still chewing on a drumstick. "Yeah, yeah, I'm a god. Big deal. Now tell me, kid—how did you end up in my universe? I don't need any extra headaches."
Ash shrugged helplessly. "I don't really know. One minute, I was dealing with Team Rocket and their crazy machine, and the next, I woke up here."
"Team Rocket?" Vados inquired, raising an elegant eyebrow.
"They're these bad guys back home," Ash explained. "They're always trying to steal Pokémon and cause trouble. If anyone messed with dimensions, it's probably them."
Champa groaned, leaning back on his throne. "Great, so now I've got to worry about some interdimensional idiots messing with my universe. Just what I needed."
Ash ignored Champa's grumbling and turned back to Vados. "So, is there a way for me to get back home? I mean, I can't just stay here forever. My friends must be worried."
Vados tapped her staff thoughtfully. "It is possible to send you back, though the process is not simple. It will require understanding the exact nature of the dimensional disturbance that brought you here."
Champa waved a hand dismissively. "Bah, why bother? Let the kid figure it out himself. I've got better things to do."
"Now, now, my Lord," Vados said smoothly. "If Ash's presence here is causing any imbalance, it is our responsibility to address it. Besides, observing him may prove… enlightening."
Ash scratched his head, looking at the holographic multiverse again. "Man, this is way above my pay grade. But if there's a chance to go home, I'll do whatever it takes."
"That's the spirit," Vados said with a kind smile. "For now, why not explore and learn about this universe? You might find it more similar to your own than you expect."
Ash nodded. "Alright. Thanks, Vados. And… sorry for causing trouble."
Champa rolled his eyes. "Just don't wreck my universe while you're here, got it?"
Ash grinned sheepishly. "I'll try my best not to."
As Ash turned to leave with Pikachu and Lucario in tow, Vados called out, "Oh, and Ash? Should you need guidance—or if you encounter any of those 'Team Rocket' troublemakers—feel free to call upon us. We'll be watching."
"Thanks, Vados," Ash said, giving a thumbs-up. Then, Ash realized he had no clue how to contact Vados. "Uh, actually... how am I supposed to reach you if I need help?" he asked sheepishly, scratching the back of his head.
Champa groaned loudly, slumping further into his throne. "For crying out loud! This kid is more trouble than he's worth!"
Vados, however, chuckled softly at Ash's confusion. With a flick of her wrist, a small, sleek communicator materialized in her hand, glowing faintly. She extended it toward Ash, who barely caught it as it fell into his grasp.
"This device will allow you to contact me directly," Vados explained with her ever-graceful tone. "If you encounter any difficulties or require assistance, simply press this button." She pointed to a glowing blue symbol on the communicator. "I will hear you."
Ash held the communicator up, examining it with wide eyes. "Whoa, this is awesome! Thanks, Vados!" Pikachu hopped onto Ash's shoulder to take a closer look, squealing in curiosity.
Champa rolled his eyes, clearly at the end of his patience. "Finally! Can we leave now? I've got better things to do than babysit this kid."
Before Vados could respond, a fiery voice cut through the air. "Hey! You two have been hogging all of Ash's time!" Caulifla shouted, crossing her arms with a defiant smirk. She stepped forward as she glared at Champa and Vados. "I'm the one who found him, and I want to train him! He looks like he could give me a real fight once I whip him into shape."
Ash blinked, startled by her enthusiasm. "Wait, what? Me? Train? I'm not really a fighter like you guys…"
"Details, details," Caulifla said with a dismissive wave of her hand. "You've got potential, I can feel it! And you've got that spark in your eyes. I'll make a warrior out of you in no time!"
"Caulifla," Cabba interjected gently, stepping forward with a polite smile, "you can't just assume Ash is a fighter because he looks determined. He's not even from this universe, and he probably doesn't know anything about our kind of training."
Caulifla scoffed, rolling her eyes. "Yeah, yeah, Mr. Rules. I'll teach him everything he needs to know. He'll be sparring with me in no time!" She punched her palm eagerly, her grin widening.
Ash held up his hands, laughing nervously. "Uh, thanks for the offer, but I'm not sure I'm ready for something like that. I mean, my training is mostly with Pokémon…"
"Even better!" Caulifla said with a laugh. "C'mon, let's get started!"
Before things could escalate further, Vados interjected smoothly. "Now, now, Caulifla. Perhaps you should let Ash acclimate to our universe before you throw him into a battle. He's not used to our ways yet."
"Fine," Caulifla huffed, crossing her arms. "But don't think you're getting out of this, Ash. I'm gonna train you whether you like it or not. You'd better be ready for a challenge!"
Ash sighed, scratching his head. "This universe is something else…" he muttered as Pikachu and Lucario exchanged amused glances.
Meanwhile...
On Beerus' planet, the warm aroma of freshly prepared Earth food wafted through the air as the God of Destruction lounged lazily on his massive chair, indulging in the latest culinary masterpieces Goku and Vegeta had brought him. "Ah, this is divine," Beerus mumbled through a mouthful of food, his ears twitching slightly at the faint hum of Whis' staff.
Whis stood nearby, gazing into the glowing orb atop his staff. His attention seemed fixated on something intriguing. "Hmm…" the angel mused, a small smile tugging at his lips.
Beerus, ever alert to anything that might disrupt his mealtime, raised an eyebrow. "Whis, what are you looking at? You've been unusually quiet," he said between bites, his tail flicking lazily behind him.
"Oh, just observing something quite fascinating happening in Universe 6," Whis replied, his tone light but his eyes sharp with curiosity.
Beerus scoffed. "Universe 6? Let me guess, my idiot brother is making a fool of himself again. What else is new?"
"Not exactly, my Lord." Whis' smile grew slightly wider. "It appears a visitor from an alternative universe has arrived in Universe 6."
Beerus paused mid-bite, his ears perking up. "A visitor from another universe?" He leaned forward slightly, his interest piqued. "What kind of visitor? Don't tell me it's just another one of those dumb Saiyans my brother is so obsessed with."
Whis shook his head, his calm demeanor unchanged. "Oh no, my Lord. This boy is not a Saiyan at all."
Beerus' eyes widened slightly as he let out a startled shout. "Not a Saiyan?!" His voice carried across the field, momentarily distracting Goku and Vegeta, who were locked in a heated sparring match nearby.
Goku tilted his head, lowering his guard for a moment. "Huh? Who's not a Saiyan?" he asked, wiping some sweat off his brow.
Vegeta, ever the more skeptical one, grunted in annoyance. "Focus on the fight, Kakarot! You're always getting distracted."
Ignoring Vegeta's scolding, Goku glanced toward Whis with his usual curiosity. "What's going on? Who's this kid you're talking about?"
Whis chuckled softly. "A boy with an unusual energy source. It's not Ki, nor does it resemble God Ki. It feels... different. Perhaps I should see him for myself."
Goku scratched his head. "Not Ki or God Ki? Then what is it?"
"Could it be Aura?" Whis suggested, his words deliberate and measured.
Both Goku and Vegeta froze, the unfamiliar term sparking confusion. "Aura?" Goku repeated, tilting his head.
"That's just an old word for Ki, isn't it?" Vegeta said with a frown, folding his arms. "Ki is Ki. What's so different about it?"
Whis nodded slightly. "It is true that the term 'Aura' predates what we now call Ki. However, this boy's energy is reminiscent of that ancient concept. It's raw, unrefined, and... unique."
Beerus tapped his chin thoughtfully. "Interesting. I've heard of Aura before. It was the energy used long before mortals truly understood how to harness Ki. To think someone would still possess such a thing... It's worth investigating."
Goku's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Aura, huh? Sounds awesome! I want to meet this guy! Maybe he could teach me a thing or two!"
Vegeta groaned loudly, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Kakarot, not everyone is here to be your sparring partner. Besides, this sounds like another one of your dumb ideas."
"Oh, come on, Vegeta! You're just grumpy because we'll probably get to see Cabba again," Goku teased with a grin.
Vegeta's eye twitched at the mention of Cabba, the younger Saiyan who constantly sought his guidance. "That little pest? Don't remind me. Every time I go to Universe 6, he's hounding me about training."
Whis chuckled at their bickering. "Regardless of personal preferences, it might be wise for us to meet this boy. After all, there's no telling what surprises the multiverse may hold."
Beerus leaned back in his chair, smirking slightly. "Fine, Whis. Do what you want. Just don't drag me into any unnecessary trouble." He grabbed another bite of food, his tone nonchalant. "But if this boy turns out to be some sort of threat, you'd better take care of it quickly."
"Oh, I doubt he'll be a threat, my Lord," Whis replied with a knowing smile. "But he might just be the source of some... interesting developments."
Goku grinned ear to ear. "Alright, let's go meet this Aura guy! I bet he's strong!"
Vegeta sighed, muttering under his breath. "This better not turn into another one of your ridiculous adventures, Kakarot..."
