You guys might be curious on that one Borderlands story that I deleted and that all I can say is that I already made that kind of story in Wattpad and so, I don't copy it and try to make it very, very different in comparison such as the difference between JustyTurner's Y/N and my 'V' character where unlike Y/N who is described as a childish and juvenile goody two shoes of a character, a staple to every to every story made by JustyTurner, V, on the other hand, is all and all, the antithesis of what can be expected to be found in the Borderlands universe, more so by how this OC of mine is basically described as everything to be expected of an edgy OC at that, kind of like Shadow the Hedgehog which if you haven't already heard that this takes inspiration from.
Regardless, if you have anymore ideas, let me know in the comments below.
Now, on with the story.
Disclaimer: I do not own Borderlands and 'Borderlands x male reader: Pandora's great saviour' by 'JustyTurner'. They belong to their respective owners.
Enjoy.
Character Name: V (Full name unknown, and he refuses to disclose it, if he even remembers it himself)
Age: Appears to be in his early to mid-twenties, though his true age is uncertain due to the experimental procedures he endured.
Gender: Male
Physical Appearance: V is an unsettling figure, deliberately crafted to inspire unease and deter unwanted approach. He resembles a walking, darkly clad mummy.
Robes and Coat: He is perpetually draped in a long, black leather robe that seems to absorb light, making him appear shadowy even in brightly lit environments. Over this, he wears a heavy, tattered coat of a similar dark material. Both garments are clearly well-worn and show signs of battle damage and the harsh Pandora environment.
Bandages: Beneath the robes and coat, his entire body is swathed in thick, off-white bandages. These are not neatly applied; they are haphazardly wrapped, bunching and fraying in places, giving the impression of a hastily reanimated corpse kept together by sheer will (and bandages). They completely obscure any hint of skin or underlying features.
Visor: Instead of eyes, V wears a sleek, obsidian black visor that completely covers the eye sockets. From within the visor, two points of intense, crimson light glow steadily, giving the unsettling impression of glaring eyes constantly fixed on you. These aren't just lights; they seem to emanate a faint heat and flicker with an unnatural energy. The visor itself is slightly curved and futuristic, a stark contrast to the tattered clothing.
Build: While obscured by his layers, V's movements hint at a lean but wiry build. He carries himself with a controlled tension, suggesting hidden strength and agility beneath the concealing garments. Occasionally, when he moves or gestures forcefully, the bandages will strain and reveal glimpses of what lies beneath – dark, almost metallic-looking substances interwoven with what might be flesh, further adding to the unsettling cyborg-eldritch hybrid impression.
Personality Traits:
Stone-Cold and Aloof: V operates with a chilling detachment from the chaotic world around him. He rarely emotes, and his voice, when he speaks, is a low, gravelly monotone, devoid of warmth or inflection. He maintains a deliberate distance from others, observing and assessing rather than engaging.
Stoic and Untrustworthy: Trust is a foreign concept to V. He regards everyone with suspicion, expecting betrayal or manipulation. This stems from his brutal experiences and the inherent dangers of Pandora. He doesn't offer his trust easily, and earning it is likely a monumental, and possibly pointless, endeavor.
Arrogant and Dismissive: Beneath his carefully constructed stoicism lies a potent arrogance. V believes himself to be superior, not in a boastful way, but in a quiet, self-assured manner. He often dismisses the opinions and capabilities of others with a curt wave of his hand or a withering glance from his glowing visor. He's seen too much, endured too much, and believes he operates on a level beyond the comprehension of most.
Serious and No-Nonsense: Humor, in its traditional sense, is lost on V. He is relentlessly focused on the task at hand, whatever it may be. Joking and levity are seen as distractions, weaknesses, and a waste of precious time. He approaches every situation with grim determination and practicality.
"Shy" (Denied): While appearing aloof, there's a subtle undercurrent of social awkwardness. V avoids prolonged interaction and deflects attempts at personal connection. When confronted about being shy, he vehemently denies it, claiming it's simply "caution." This denial hints at a deeper vulnerability buried beneath layers of trauma and manufactured detachment.
Comedic Contrast: The humor in V's character arises from the sheer absurdity of his personality clashing with the unhinged lunacy of Pandora. His reactions to the planet's insanity are often priceless moments of bewildered annoyance. He might sigh in exasperation at a Psycho's rambling monologue, or deadpan a sarcastic remark at the hyper-enthusiasm of a Claptrap unit. His stoic demeanor, meant to project control, ironically becomes deeply comedic against the backdrop of constant explosions and screaming bandits.
Ruthless, Blunt, and Sarcastic: V is brutally honest, to the point of being offensive. He speaks his mind without filter or consideration for social niceties. His sarcasm is sharp and cutting, delivered with a deadpan delivery that only amplifies its bite. He uses sarcasm as both a weapon and a shield, often deflecting genuine emotion with a layer of cynical humor.
Brave and Determined (with Caution): V is not reckless, but he is undeniably brave. Danger doesn't deter him; he analyzes it, calculates the risks, and then proceeds with a grim determination. He's not fearless, but his resolve outweighs his fear. He approaches perilous situations with a measured caution, but once committed, he goes all-in.
Calmly Furious: Anger simmers beneath V's surface, a constant undercurrent of controlled rage. He rarely loses his composure outwardly, but when his patience finally snaps, the consequences are terrifying. He becomes a force of nature, unleashing the full extent of his powers with cold, calculated fury.
Prideful but Tempered Humbleness: V possesses a significant ego, stemming from his understanding of his own capabilities. However, this pride is tempered by a pragmatic understanding of reality. He knows his limits, and while he may think highly of himself, he is not foolishly overconfident. He can be humbled by setbacks, though he will never outwardly admit it. A sharp glare and a few well-chosen, cutting words are often enough for him to assert dominance or make his point.
Good and Moral (Beneath the Edgy Exterior): Despite his abrasive personality and intimidating presence, V is not inherently evil. Deep down, there is a sense of morality and empathy that he tries to suppress. He is fiercely protective of those he considers allies (though he'd never admit to having "friends"). He will go to great lengths to help innocents caught in the crossfire, even if he does so with gritted teeth and sarcastic complaints. He operates on a warped sense of "good," often achieved through brutal efficiency, but his intentions are generally aligned with protecting the vulnerable.
Respectful and Honorable (When Required): While generally dismissive, V can display surprising respect and honor when the situation demands it. He recognizes true strength and competence, even in individuals he might otherwise find irritating. In moments of crisis or facing a truly formidable opponent, the sarcastic facade can drop, revealing a more serious and even honorable side.
Background:
V is a walking enigma, a ghost of a past he actively tries to forget. What little is known about him paints a grim picture:
Project Chimera (Escaped Experiment): V was once a subject in a clandestine Dahl Corporation research facility located somewhere in the fringes of Pandora. He was part of a project known internally as "Chimera," an attempt to weaponize alien biology and cybernetics by forcibly merging them with human hosts. The experiments were brutal, invasive, and mind-shatteringly painful. V was their most "successful" (and most traumatized) result. He managed to escape the facility, leaving behind a trail of chaos and destruction in his wake, fueled by his newly awakened, unstable powers.
Amnesia and Trauma: The experiments inflicted severe psychological damage. V suffers from fragmented memories of his life before the project, purposefully suppressed by his own mind as a coping mechanism. He is haunted by nightmares and flashbacks, though he vehemently denies any emotional impact, claiming it's "irrelevant." The trauma explains his guarded personality, distrust of authority, and constant state of alert.
Pandora Landing: V emerged into the brutal landscape of Pandora with no resources and a body warped beyond recognition. He quickly learned to survive, relying on his enhanced abilities and ruthless pragmatism. He adopted the bandages and robes to conceal his altered form and project an intimidating presence, ensuring that others would think twice before approaching him. Pandora, with its inherently insane nature, ironically provided a warped sense of normalcy for someone as fundamentally altered as V. He blends into the background noise of chaos, his own strangeness barely registering in the grand tapestry of Pandora's lunacy.
Powers and Abilities: Eldritch Cybernetics
V is a formidable combatant due to a unique and terrifying combination of abilities derived from the "Chimera" project:
Flesh Manipulation (Eldritch): V can manipulate his own flesh and, to a lesser extent, organic matter around him. This is not simple regeneration; it's a grotesque form of biological warping. He can:
Sprout Flesh Tendrils: From beneath his bandages, V can manifest whip-like tendrils of dark, ebony flesh, tipped with razor-sharp points or bioluminescent barbs. These tendrils can lash out with surprising speed and force, ensnaring enemies, delivering bladed strikes, or injecting debilitating toxins (a rarer ability he dislikes using).
Warp Weaponized Appendages: V can reshape parts of his body into grotesque, living weapons. This includes forming razor-sharp claws, extending bladed whips from his arms, or creating temporary extra limbs for increased combat versatility. He can even manifest a massive, pulsating blade of bone and flesh from his forearm.
Biological Armor: V can harden sections of his skin (or bandage-covered areas) into chitinous armor plating for increased defense, though this limits his mobility somewhat.
Machine Manipulation (Cybernetic): The experiments also grafted cybernetic components into V, granting him an uncanny ability to interface with and control technology:
Technopathy: V can intuitively understand and manipulate technology with his mind. He can hack into systems, disable security measures, control machinery, and even influence the behavior of robots and automated defenses. This power is not telekinesis; it's a direct mental connection and manipulation of technological systems.
Organic Weaponry: V's most striking ability is his capacity to fuse his flesh manipulation with technology. When he picks up a firearm, his powers instantly begin to reshape it. The metal is infused with organic tissue, veins pulsing beneath the surface, and intricate bone-like structures growing over the casing. These weapons become living extensions of himself.
Unlimited Bone Ammunition: His organically modified firearms fire projectiles described as hardened bone shards. These projectiles are incredibly sharp and capable of piercing even armored targets. His body constantly generates this "bone ammunition," effectively granting him unlimited ammo (though he still needs to reload for mechanical weapons, a process he can somewhat accelerate with his technopathy).
Organic Reloading: V can subtly warp the internal mechanisms of weapons, speeding up their reload times. This is not instantaneous, but it is significantly faster than normal reloading, and almost silent.
Weapon Variety:bHe can adapt this organic modification to virtually any firearm he finds, from pistols to rocket launchers, making him incredibly versatile in combat.
Weakness and Cost:
For all of V's immense power, it comes at a terrible price which includes:
Physical and Mental Trauma: The experiments left V in constant chronic pain. The bandages are not just for concealment; they help manage the chronic irritation and sensitivity of his warped flesh. The mental trauma is even deeper, manifesting as fragmented memories, nightmares, and a constant fear of losing control.
Risk of Losing Control: V's powers are volatile and barely contained. He is perpetually on the edge of losing control, especially under stress or when pushed to his limits. If he loses control, his powers could spiral out of control, causing uncontrolled mutations, violent outbursts, and potentially catastrophic consequences for himself and those around him. He actively fights against this potential, maintaining his rigid stoicism as a means of control.
Dependence on Technology (Irony): Despite his aversion to emotional connection, V is ironically reliant on technology. His powers are intrinsically linked to cybernetic augmentations, making him vulnerable to EMPs or technology-disrupting weaponry. His organic weapons, while powerful, are still partially reliant on the mechanical framework they are built upon.
Overall:
V is a complex and compelling Borderlands character. He embodies the dark, gritty humor and over-the-top violence of the setting, while also possessing a tragic backstory and hidden depths. He's a walking contradiction: a monstrous cyborg beneath the bandages, yet capable of surprising acts of compassion; a cynical misanthrope with a hidden desire for connection; a terrifyingly powerful individual haunted by the very source of his strength. He is a Vault Hunter shaped by trauma into a weapon, navigating the madness of Pandora with a grim determination to survive and perhaps, just perhaps, find some semblance of peace amidst the chaos.
If you have any stories that you know as well as any stories that you think is great in concept and storyline but ruined by poor writing and grammar, then let me know in the comments below.
I will also makes it clear that I shall not follow the story made by JustyTurner, especially canon since even I think that with this OC of mine, he is going to change the time itself by storm and spare some characters from deaths that should have been avoided with ease.
Now, as always...
Enjoy.
