Hey guys!! Sorry for uploading this late i've been busy with school .

Enjoy!!

Nathan and Haley burst into their hotel room, both of them laughing and completely drenched from the rain. Haley's hair clung to her face, and Nathan's shirt stuck to his chest, but neither of them cared. The giddy excitement of the proposal still buzzed between them.

"Okay, we have to tell them!" Haley giggled, pulling out her phone and opening the group chat they shared with their closest friends.

Nathan grinned, his heart full as he watched her excitement. "Alright, let's do it," he agreed, leaning in as she hit the video call button.

Within seconds, the screen lit up with Peyton's face. "Hey, you two!" she greeted them, her brows furrowing slightly. "Why are you both soaking wet? What happened?"

Next to Peyton, Jake waved, looking just as confused.

Brooke's face popped up on the screen next, with Lucas by her side. "Why do you two look like drowned rats?" Brooke asked, laughing. "What happened? Is something wrong?"

Haley tried to contain her giggles but failed miserably. She held up her left hand, revealing the sparkling ring on her finger. "This happened!" she squealed, her eyes bright with happiness.

There was a moment of stunned silence on the other side of the call, and then Brooke's scream pierced through the speakers. "OH MY GOD! HALEY!!" Brooke practically yelled, her face lighting up with excitement as she grabbed Lucas's arm. "She's engaged! They're engaged!!"

Peyton's eyes went wide as she gasped. "No way! Haley, seriously?!"

"Yup," Nathan chimed in, wrapping an arm around Haley and pulling her closer. "She said yes," he added with a grin, kissing Haley's temple.

Brooke was still freaking out on the other side. "That ring! It's stunning! Oh my god, Haley, this is amazing! How did he do it?! When did he do it?! Tell us everything!"

Haley laughed, her cheeks flushed with happiness. "It just happened a little while ago. He proposed in the rain, and it was so perfect," she said, her voice still full of emotion.

Peyton clapped her hands together, her face glowing with joy. "Oh, Haley! That's so romantic! I'm so happy for you guys!" Jake leaned over, smiling warmly. "Congrats, you two. That's awesome."

Lucas grinned, wrapping an arm around Brooke, who was still bouncing with excitement. "Nathan, you really pulled it off, man. I'm impressed."

Nathan laughed, shaking his head. "It wasn't too hard when I've got the perfect girl," he teased, giving Haley a wink. Haley looked up at Nathan with pure love in her eyes before turning back to the screen. "It's been the best night ever."

"Best news ever!" Brooke corrected, practically bouncing in her seat. "We have to celebrate as soon as you get back!"

a few days later Nathan and Haley were back in Tree Hill They stood side by side in front of her parents' house, their hands tightly intertwined as the reality of the situation sank in. Nathan had met her parents before, and it had gone well, but today was different. Today, he was meeting her four brothers. Ryan, Chris, Drew, and Brian. And that was a whole new level of pressure.

Nathan adjusted his jacket, glancing sideways at Haley. "So, remind me again… Quinn and Vivian aren't going to be here, right?"

Haley smiled up at him, giving his hand a reassuring squeeze. "You've already met them, remember?" she teased lightly. "But no, Vivian's with her kids, and Quinny is in New York with Clay. So, it's just my parents and my brothers today."

Nathan nodded, though he still felt a bit of nerves creeping in. "Right, just your four brothers," he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "No big deal."

Haley laughed softly, stepping closer to him. "They're gonna love you, Nathan. And besides, they already know about the proposal. Mom might have let it slip to them in her excitement, so they're expecting you to officially be part of the family soon."

"Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of," Nathan muttered under his breath, but he smiled at her anyway. "I mean, I can take on anything, but four protective brothers… That's a lot."

Haley raised an eyebrow playfully. "You're Nathan Scott, star athlete, and tough guy, right? You'll survive. Just be yourself."

"Easy for you to say. You're the one they all adore. I'm the guy trying to take their baby sister away ." Nathan grinned, leaning down to give her a quick kiss before they made their way to the front door. Haley rolled her eyes affectionately. "They're not as scary as they seem, I promise. Well, maybe a little bit"

Before Nathan could respond, the front door opened, and there stood Haley's mom, Lydia, with a warm smile on her face. "There they are!" she exclaimed, stepping out to give both Haley and Nathan a hug.

"Come on in, you two. Everyone's waiting inside," Lydia added with a wink.

Nathan took a deep breath as he stepped inside, feeling Haley's calming presence beside him. He was about to meet the rest of the family, and though he was nervous, he was ready. After all, he loved Haley more than anything, and nothing was going to stand in the way of that, not even four overprotective brothers.

As they stepped inside Haley's family home, Nathan immediately felt the warmth of the place, though he could also sense the weight of what was coming. The living room was bustling with voices, and as soon as they crossed the threshold, Haley's dad, Jimmy, greeted them with a wide grin.

"Nathan, Haley! There they are. Come on in!" Jimmy said, giving Haley a tight hug before offering Nathan a firm handshake. "Good to see you, son."

Nathan smiled and nodded, grateful for the easy start. "Good to see you too, Mr. James."

Lydia ushered them both into the living room, where the sound of chatter grew louder. Nathan spotted Haley's brothers right away, each one with a different demeanor but all giving him the kind of look that could send a chill down any man's spine.

Ryan, the oldest, stood up first. He was tall, broad-shouldered, and clearly used to being in charge. "Nathan," he greeted with a firm nod, extending his hand. Nathan shook it, feeling the strength behind the handshake.

"Ryan, right? Good to meet you, man," Nathan said, keeping his tone light.

Next up was Chris, who sat lounging on the couch, his arms crossed. He had an easy smile, but there was something sharp behind it. "Heard a lot about you," Chris said, getting up to shake Nathan's hand.

"All good, I hope," Nathan replied with a grin, trying to ease the tension

Chris just chuckled. "Depends who you ask."

Then there was Drew, who leaned against the doorway with his arms crossed. He had a quieter presence but looked just as imposing. "Nathan," he greeted simply, with a nod. Nathan returned the gesture, feeling Drew's gaze assessing him.

Finally, there was Brian.. The one Haley had warned him about. He stood back for a moment, looking Nathan up and down, before walking over with a smirk. "So… this is the guy who stole my sister's heart?" Brian teased, but there was a protective edge to his words.

Nathan swallowed, knowing this was the real test. "I didn't steal anything," Nathan said smoothly, meeting Brian's eyes. "She gave it to me."

Brian raised an eyebrow, but after a moment, he cracked a smile. "Good answer."

Haley, sensing the slight tension, jumped in, laughing as she pulled Nathan closer. "Okay, enough of the intimidation tactics. Nathan's part of the family now, so be nice!"

The brothers all grumbled in unison, but they relaxed a little as Haley spoke. Nathan was still on edge, but he was starting to feel like maybe, just maybe, he had a chance of winning them over.

"Alright, alright, we'll be nice," Ryan said with a grin, clapping Nathan on the back. "But we'll need to hear all about how you proposed, Scott. You can't just walk in here and not give us the details."

"Yeah," Chris chimed in. "We heard it was pretty romantic."

Nathan exchanged a glance with Haley, who smiled softly at him. "It was pretty perfect, actually," Haley said, blushing a little.

Nathan smiled back at her, then turned to the brothers. "I'll tell you everything. But first, can we sit down? I feel like I'm in the middle of a press conference."

The room erupted in laughter, and Nathan felt the tension ease a little more. As they all settled into the living room, Nathan realized that while Haley's brothers were protective, they were also fiercely loyal, and he respected that. They just wanted the best for Haley—and so did he.

As they began sharing the story of the proposal, Nathan glanced at Haley, his heart swelling with love for her. No matter how intimidating this family might be, he knew that being with Haley made it all worth it. This was the start of their forever, and he couldn't wait to see where it would take them.

As the conversation shifted, Ryan, always one to get straight to the point, leaned back in his chair and folded his arms, eyeing Nathan carefully. "So, Nathan," he began, "basketball season's coming up soon, right? You ready for it?"

Nathan, who was starting to feel a bit more comfortable around Haley's brothers, nodded confidently. "Yeah, it's right around the corner. I've been training all summer, so I'm feeling pretty good about it."

Chris, who had always been a bit of a sports enthusiast, leaned forward with interest. "You think you guys will make the playoffs this year? I saw the roster changes. You've got some new talent on the team."

Nathan grinned, enjoying the shift to basketball talk. "We've got a solid team this year. A few rookies with potential, and our core is still strong. If we stay healthy, I think we'll have a good shot."

Drew, the quietest of the brothers, spoke up, his tone more serious. "Must be a lot of pressure, though. Especially with everything going on in your personal life now. You balancing it all okay?"

Nathan appreciated the genuine question and nodded, his gaze flicking to Haley for a moment before answering. "It can be a lot, but I've learned to manage it. Having Haley with me makes it easier. She keeps me grounded."

Haley smiled at him, her heart swelling with pride at his response. She knew how hard Nathan worked, and the fact that he gave her credit in front of her brothers meant the world to her.

Brian, who had been mostly quiet since the initial introductions, leaned forward, his expression more playful. "And what about all the fans? You know Haley's gonna have to fend them off now, right?"

Nathan chuckled, glancing at Haley with a teasing grin. "Oh, trust me, she can handle herself. I've seen her shut down a few people before. I'm not worried."

Haley rolled her eyes playfully. "Please. If anything, they'll all be running after Nathan, not me."

The brothers laughed, but Ryan gave Nathan a more serious look. "It's good that you're thinking about the future, man. Basketball's great, but family is important too. Just make sure you don't let one take away from the other."

Nathan nodded, appreciating the advice. "I hear you. And trust me, Haley's always going to be my priority. No matter what."

There was a moment of quiet as the brothers exchanged looks, seemingly satisfied with Nathan's response. Haley, sensing that her brothers were slowly warming up to Nathan, took his hand and smiled at him.

"See, I told you they wouldn't be so bad," she whispered teasingly.

Nathan smirked. "You're right. I think I'm winning them over."

As the conversation flowed back into sports and lighter topics, Nathan realized that while Haley's brothers might be tough and protective, they were also just a close-knit family looking out for their sister. And now, more than ever, he was determined to prove to them that he loves their little sister more than anything In the world .

As Haley excused herself to help her mom in the kitchen, she gave Nathan's hand a little squeeze, flashing him a reassuring smile. Nathan watched her walk away, feeling slightly uneasy now that his shield was gone. Her dad had already retreated to the backyard with his book, leaving him alone with her four brothers.

The atmosphere in the room seemed to shift as soon as Haley left. Chris and Brian exchanged looks, while Ryan crossed his arms, and Drew leaned forward, eyes narrowing slightly. Nathan could sense what was coming—the real test.

"So," Ryan started, breaking the silence, "you've already proposed to our sister, huh?"

Nathan shifted in his seat, knowing this was it—the moment they'd want to know what his intentions truly were. "Yeah, I did," Nathan replied, his voice calm but serious. "I love Haley more than anything. She's everything I've ever wanted, and I plan on spending the rest of my life with her."

Chris raised an eyebrow, smirking. "That's a lot of 'big words' right there, man. But we're her brothers, and we've seen a lot of guys come and go. What makes you so sure that you're the one?"

Nathan met Chris's stare without flinching. "I don't just say things I don't mean. Haley's changed my life. She's the kind of person who makes you want to be better, and I've never felt that with anyone else. I don't see a future without her."

Drew, still skeptical, leaned in closer, voice low and firm. "You might be a basketball star, but we don't care about that. What we care about is our sister's heart. So if you ever hurt her, if you break her—"

Nathan cut him off, his voice steady. "I won't. I won't hurt her. I know what she's been through, and I know how important family is to her. I'll always respect that."

Brian, who had been listening quietly, finally spoke up. "You know, you're saying all the right things, Nathan. But actions speak louder than words. We've had to pick up the pieces before, so forgive us if we don't trust easily."

Nathan nodded, understanding their protectiveness. He would've been the same if he were in their shoes. "I get it. I do. And I don't expect you to just take my word for it. But I'm going to prove it to you, not just today or tomorrow, but every day after. I'm in this for the long haul."

Ryan uncrossed his arms, finally letting out a small chuckle. "Alright, alright. You handled that better than I expected."

Chris shrugged, finally giving Nathan a half-smile. "You've got guts, I'll give you that."

Brian leaned back, seemingly satisfied for now. "Alright, Nathan. You passed the first test. But don't think we won't be watching."

Nathan exhaled quietly, feeling the tension ease a bit. "I wouldn't expect anything less."

Just then, Haley reappeared from the kitchen, carrying a plate of freshly baked cookies, her smile lighting up the room. "Did I miss anything?" she asked, glancing around at her brothers suspiciously.

Nathan smiled up at her, feeling even more confident after surviving their grilling. "Nah, everything's good, Hales."

Her brothers exchanged amused glances, their tough-guy act slightly softened. It wasn't a full stamp of approval, but it was a start.

Haley placed the cookies down and kissed Nathan on the cheek, unaware of the gauntlet he'd just passed. "I hope they didn't scare you too much."

Nathan laughed softly, wrapping his arm around her waist. "Nah, they're alright. Just doing their job."

Her brothers gave Nathan one last nod of approval before turning back to their conversation. Nathan knew he had a long road ahead to fully win them over, but he was ready for it—because Haley was worth it.

As Haley joined the group again, her brothers couldn't help but exchange knowing glances. It was clear that they weren't quite done with Nathan yet. Brian cleared his throat, standing up and stretching as he grabbed another cookie from the plate Haley had set down.

"So, Nathan," Brian began with a teasing grin, "since you're about to marry our baby sister, you might want to know a little bit more about her—like, the real Haley."

Haley groaned, sitting down beside Nathan and playfully smacking Brian on the arm. "Don't you dare," she warned, her voice laced with mock concern.

"Oh, we have to, baby sis," Chris said with a smirk, turning to Nathan. "It's only fair. We all gotta make sure you know what you're getting into."

Ryan chuckled as he leaned back in his chair, arms crossed. "You know, Nathan, Haley used to be a little troublemaker when she was younger. She'd always act like the perfect angel, but trust me, there were some wild moments."

Haley's face turned slightly pink as she shot a glare at Ryan. "That's not funny, Ryan."

But Ryan, of course, wasn't fazed. He grinned widely and kept going. "I remember this one time when we were little, and Haley decided it was a great idea to sneak into the neighbor's garden at 3 a.m. to steal their garden gnomes. I found her dragging this giant gnome back to the house, looking guilty as heck. And do you know what she said when I caught her?" Ryan mimicked Haley's voice in a high-pitched tone. "'I'm just helping them redecorate!'"

Nathan laughed, clearly enjoying the tease. Haley hid her face in her hands, her cheeks burning red. "Oh my god," she muttered, embarrassed.

"That's not even the worst one," Chris added, leaning forward with a grin. "Remember that time you tried to sneak out and hit a party when you were 16? You told everyone you were just going to study at Lucas's. But I found you in the kitchen with a bag of chips and an open bottle of soda, looking like you were planning to set up shop for the night. The best part? You tried to lie your way out of it and said you were just doing 'homework'."

Haley shook her head, groaning. "I can't believe you guys remember that stuff."

Nathan was trying to contain his laughter but failed miserably. "You were sneaky, huh?"

"Only when I needed to be," Haley replied, her smile now filled with both affection and frustration for her brothers. "But I've grown up now."

Drew, who'd been quiet up until this point, leaned in and added, "You know, Haley once cried in the middle of a school play because she forgot her lines. But the best part? She convinced the entire audience it was part of the show. She played it off like she was 'emotional' because the character was going through a hard time. Genius."

Haley slapped her forehead in embarrassment. "I had to do something!" she argued, but the laughter from the group was infectious.

Jimmy, who had been silently observing, finally chimed in with a mischievous grin. "Oh, you haven't heard the best part. You remember that summer when Haley went through her 'daredevil' phase? She thought she could ride her bike down the hill at full speed. But instead, she hit a rock and ended up flying over the handlebars into a bush. She got up all dramatic, brushed herself off, and said, 'That was nothing.'" He laughed, clearly reliving the moment. "You should've seen her face when we told her she had grass in her hair."

Lydia, laughing along with everyone, added her own memory, "And don't forget the time Haley tried to cook dinner for us when she was about 12. She somehow managed to burn mac and cheese. How do you burn mac and cheese?"

"Hey! I was learning!" Haley protested, finally leaning back in her chair and crossing her arms in mock indignation. "You all just don't appreciate my efforts."

"Don't worry, we still love you," Drew said, giving her a playful wink. "But, Nathan, now you know. You're marrying a disaster in disguise."

Nathan leaned over to Haley and gave her a playful kiss on the cheek. "I think I'm okay with that. In fact, it sounds like I'm in for an adventure." He turned to the brothers, smirking. "You know, I think you're all just jealous because none of you could pull off half the stuff she did without getting caught."

Haley rolled her eyes but smiled warmly at Nathan. "Yeah, I don't think any of you could handle my chaotic energy."

The laughter continued, and for the first time, Nathan felt completely at ease with Haley's family. They had their quirks, their teasing, their embarrassing stories, but they were all a testament to how much they loved her. And that, in Nathan's eyes, was the most important thing.

As the group settled down from their laughter, Brian leaned back in his chair, a mischievous gleam in his eyes. "Alright, alright, enough of the teenage Haley. Let's talk about little Haley."

Haley's eyes widened, and she immediately shot a warning look at Brian. "Don't you dare."

"Oh, I'm definitely going there," Brian said, clearly enjoying the teasing. "Remember when you were about four and you were obsessed with dressing up as a princess? You'd put on your little tiara and demand that we treat you like royalty. I remember one time you made us all line up in the backyard and bow when you walked by. We didn't have a choice—you even made Dad bow to you."

Haley's face turned red, and she hid behind her hands. "You're so mean."

"Oh, but that's not the best part," Brian continued, grinning widely. "You were so serious about it that one day, you insisted on having a tea party, and you made me wear a tutu to play the part of the 'prince.' Do you remember that? You made me pour pretend tea, and every time I messed it up, you'd dramatically declare, 'Off with his head!'" Brian mimicked Haley's princess voice, causing everyone to laugh again.

Haley rolled her eyes but couldn't help but giggle at the memory. "I was cute. You all should've just dealt with it."

"You were adorable," Drew said, shaking his head with a smile. "But remember the time you tried to 'rescue' your favorite doll from the tree? You climbed up the tree, got stuck halfway up, and had to get Brian to save you?"

Haley gasped, her eyes wide in mock horror. "You guys can't be serious! I don't remember that!"

"Oh, you did," Drew replied, laughing. "You were stuck up there for like half an hour, crying because your doll was 'in danger.' And when Brian finally came to rescue you, you refused to come down until he promised to get the doll for you."

"Yeah, with your little bossy attitude," Chris teased. "I remember when you used to try and organize all our toys. You'd sit us down and make us 'plan' what games we were going to play—like you were the director. You even drew up schedules for us."

"I was prepared," Haley said, her lips curling into a smile. "Organization is key."

"Oh, and let's not forget the time you tried to take care of a hamster," Drew added. "You were convinced you could be the best pet owner, and we all thought you were going to be great. You kept that poor thing in your room and insisted on 'letting it roam free.' Next thing we knew, it chewed its way into your closet and started nesting in your shoes. That was a fun cleanup."

Nathan, watching all the teasing and laughter unfold, was completely charmed by the James family dynamic. He had already known how close they were, but seeing their interactions, especially the stories about Haley's childhood, made him realize just how lucky he was to be a part of it now.

"I can't believe you all were so rough on her when she was little," Nathan said with a chuckle. "But hey, she turned out to be a pretty awesome woman, so I guess you did something right."

Haley smiled softly at Nathan, the warmth in her eyes showing just how much she appreciated him. "You're right, Nathan. They're a lot of fun, but I'm glad I had them growing up."

Haley's brothers all softened, exchanging glances. They might have teased her relentlessly, but they were still fiercely protective of their little sister. Nathan could feel the love between them, and it made him appreciate Haley even more. It was clear that her family had shaped her into the strong, kind-hearted woman he had fallen for.

"Alright, alright," Brian said, pretending to wipe away a tear. "We've embarrassed Haley enough for one day. But you better be ready, Nathan. You've now seen the baby pictures. There's no turning back."

Nathan laughed, pulling Haley closer to him. "I wouldn't want to. Every version of Haley is the best version."

Haley blushed but rested her head on his shoulder, her heart swelling at his words. Nathan was the first man who had ever made her feel this loved, this seen—and it felt like a dream. A dream that she never wanted to wake up from.

Lydia, not one to miss an opportunity for more embarrassing moments, reached for another picture, her eyes glinting with mischief. "Oh, here's one I know Nathan will love."

She held up a picture of a young Haley, probably around five years old, dressed in an oversized pink dress with frills, holding a huge teddy bear in one hand and a cookie in the other. Her expression was pure joy, her big brown eyes sparkling, and a chocolate smear was on her cheek.

"Look at that smile," Lydia teased. "Haley was always happy to get her hands dirty. This one always had a sweet tooth. Not much has changed, huh?"

Haley groaned and buried her face in her hands, but Nathan couldn't help but laugh. He took the photo from Lydia, holding it up to get a better look. "This little bundle of cuteness is the same person who's sitting next to me now?" he teased, raising an eyebrow. "I think I'm in trouble. There's no way I'm keeping up with this much sweetness."

Haley looked at him from under her hands, her cheeks pink. "Shut up," she muttered, though the laughter in her voice couldn't hide her embarrassment. "I was just a kid!"

"You were a perfect kid," Nathan replied, his tone soft. "And you're still perfect now."

Brian, now clearly enjoying himself, leaned in with a smirk. "Oh, perfect? Tell him about the time you tried to teach me how to play the piano. You sang every note, but there were no keys involved. It was a disaster."

Haley groaned, remembering that long-forgotten memory. "I don't know what you're talking about," she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "That performance was amazing. Obviously, you were just jealous of my musical talent."

The room burst into laughter again, but Nathan found himself more focused on Haley than the teasing. He watched as she playfully rolled her eyes, unable to stop smiling. This was the real Haley—the woman who had once been a tiny, carefree girl with a big heart, and who had grown into someone he was falling deeper in love with every day.

Lydia, who had clearly seen the softness in Nathan's gaze, gave a playful wink. "Okay, okay. Enough teasing for now. We'll save the rest for your wedding day," she said with a smile. "But we do have one last gem. This one will top everything."

She pulled out the last picture—one that made everyone pause. It was a picture of Haley, probably around eight years old, sitting on a swing in the park, her hair flying around her face as she laughed. It was one of those candid moments, pure joy on her face, as she was caught mid-laugh.

Nathan stared at the photo, the image of carefree happiness. "You were always so full of life, weren't you?" he murmured, his voice soft with admiration.

Haley, seeing the look in Nathan's eyes, felt a flutter in her chest. "Yeah. I guess I still am, at least when I'm with the people who make me happy." Her gaze flickered to Nathan, a small smile tugging at her lips.

"This little girl turned into someone pretty special," Nathan said, still staring at the photo. "And I'm lucky to be the one who gets to see that every day."

Everyone in the room could feel the tenderness between them, the quiet understanding, and the affection that passed between Haley and Nathan without words.

Lydia, seeing how the mood shifted, put the last photo down with a smile. "I think that's enough for now. But, Nathan, now you know—this girl has always been a star."

Haley rolled her eyes but couldn't hide the warmth in her smile. "Stop it, Mom," she said, leaning into Nathan's side.

Nathan wrapped his arm around her, his thumb brushing over her shoulder as he whispered, "I'm the lucky one, Hales."

The room quieted for a moment, and for the first time that day, everyone was silent, just watching the two of them. It wasn't just about the pictures. It was about the love that was growing between them, the history that they were building, and the future they were slowly carving out together.

Haley, feeling the weight of the moment, rested her head on Nathan's shoulder. "I love you, you know," she said softly, her voice barely above a whisper, but enough for him to hear.

"I love you too," Nathan replied, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. And in that moment, with her family surrounding them and memories of her past floating around them, it felt like everything was exactly how it was meant to be.

Ryan, sitting back with a knowing smirk, glanced at Nathan and Haley, clearly enjoying the moment. "Alright, alright," he said, drawing the attention of everyone in the room. "This one's a classic."

Haley shot him a wary look, her eyes narrowing. "Oh, no," she muttered under her breath. "Don't even think about it."

But Ryan was already on a roll, leaning forward with a grin that could only mean trouble. "So, when Haley was five, she had this… very vivid imagination," he began, his voice light but teasing. "One summer, we were all hanging out in the backyard, and she decided she was going to get married."

Nathan raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Married? To who?"

Ryan's smirk widened. "To me, of course." He chuckled at the incredulous look on Haley's face. "Yeah, that's right. Little Hales was already planning her wedding day, and she picked me to be the lucky guy. She even made us wedding rings out of sticks. It was all very official."

Haley let out a soft groan, her face flushed as she buried her face in her hands. "Oh my god, Ryan, stop," she muttered, embarrassed beyond belief. "I was five! What did I know about marriage?"

Ryan wasn't letting up, though. "You were convinced you were going to marry me right then and there," he continued, clearly enjoying the reaction he was getting. "She even had this whole ceremony planned. We were supposed to say 'I do' under the tree by the swings, and she insisted on wearing her princess dress, which, by the way, was way too big for her."

Nathan couldn't help but laugh at the thought of a tiny Haley in a princess dress, trying to marry her brother. "That's adorable," he said, his voice filled with amusement. "What did you think of that, Hales?"

Haley looked up, rolling her eyes but smiling despite herself. "I thought I was being very grown up," she said with mock seriousness. "Obviously, I was ahead of my time, planning a wedding at five."

Ryan continued, "Oh, and let's not forget the best part. You made me promise that we would get married when you were older. Like, five minutes ago, you were swearing we were going to live happily ever after in our imaginary house with a yard full of puppies."

Lydia, who had been listening intently, joined in with a chuckle. "I think Haley's first 'wedding' was even more dramatic than the real deal. She had this little ceremony in her mind, and Ryan—being the good older brother—played along, even though he was, like, fifteen. I still remember how much Haley cried when we said she had to wait for real marriage. She wasn't happy about that."

Haley groaned again, but she was laughing now. "That was one time, and I was five!" she defended, though she was clearly fighting a smile. "But Ryan did make me a deal. He said, 'Maybe when you're older, we'll see,'" she added, glancing over at her brother with mock indignation. "Yeah, that's the closest I ever got to a proposal from you."

Ryan leaned back in his chair, grinning. "Hey, I did what I could. I was a teenage guy, not a five-year-old's future husband."

Nathan chuckled, shaking his head. "I'm sure you were a great wedding planner," he teased Ryan. "But it's good to know that Haley had such high standards from a young age."

Haley turned to Nathan, her eyes glinting with playfulness. "Oh, I had very high standards," she said, a sly smile creeping onto her lips. "I knew exactly what I wanted. And I think I found it."

She reached out, brushing her hand across Nathan's as if to emphasize her point.

Ryan looked over at Nathan, giving him a knowing look. "Well, Nathan, I'm glad to see you've made the cut. You're the lucky guy who got picked after all this time."

Nathan raised an eyebrow, leaning in slightly. "Lucky guy, huh? I'm starting to see why Haley was so picky. She had some very big ideas about love, even back then." He looked at Haley, his tone softening. "I'm glad I could be the one to fulfill those childhood dreams of yours."

Haley smiled at him, her heart fluttering in her chest. "You're definitely the one," she said quietly, and for a moment, everything else in the room faded away. It was just them—sitting together, remembering the past, and looking forward to the future.

Ryan watched them with a smile, clearly pleased to see how far his little sister had come. "Well, I think you two are going to make a great team," he said with a wink. "Just remember—I get to be the best man at your wedding."

Haley laughed softly, her face lighting up. "You've already been a part of every 'wedding' I've had," she teased. "But I'll let you have that one."

Nathan squeezed Haley's hand, his heart full of warmth. "I wouldn't want anyone else by my side, anyway."

And for a moment, it felt like everything in the world was just right.

Ryan leaned back with a playful grin, looking at Haley. "You know, Hales, I'm glad it was me you chose for your imaginary wedding and not some punk," he teased, crossing his arms. "Could've been some random kid from the neighborhood or—god forbid—one of Brian's friends. At least you had good taste back then."

Haley rolled her eyes, laughing softly. "Oh please, Ryan. I probably chose you because you had the most candy to bribe me with," she shot back, but her smile gave away how much she adored her older brother.

Ryan chuckled, shaking his head. "Nah, you knew. Even at five, you had a sharp eye for quality." He winked at Nathan. "And now you've gone and upgraded to this guy. Guess you were always destined for the best."

Nathan, who had been watching the sibling banter with amusement, smirked. "Well, I'm honored to be the 'upgrade,'" he said, giving Haley's hand a gentle squeeze. "But you're right, Ryan—she's always had excellent taste."

Lydia, still holding one of Haley's baby pictures, chimed in with a warm smile. "She's always known what she wanted, even when she was little," she said fondly. "And I'm so glad she found someone who sees just how special she is."

Haley's cheeks flushed slightly, but she squeezed Nathan's hand back, her heart full. "I'm lucky to have all of you," she said softly, looking around at her family, then up at Nathan with a loving smile.

Jimmy, who had been listening with a twinkle in his eye, leaned forward and said, "Well, Nathan, you're in for a lifetime of this—Haley's always been the center of our world, and she'll be yours too, if she isn't already."

Nathan smiled warmly at Haley, his eyes filled with love. "She already is."

As the night grew later, the room filled with warmth and laughter, Nathan and Haley finally stood up to leave. Haley's mom, Lydia, was the first to approach her, wrapping her arms around Haley in a tight hug, kissing her on the cheek. "I love you, sweetie. It was so good to have you home," she whispered, holding her daughter close.

"I love you too, Mom," Haley replied softly, squeezing her back.

Jimmy came next, pulling Haley into a bear hug. "You take care of yourself, kiddo," he said, kissing her forehead gently. "And Nathan, make sure you keep her smiling, alright?"

Nathan nodded with a grin. "You've got my word," he promised, reaching out to shake Jimmy's hand.

Each of her brothers followed, giving Haley tight hugs. Chris ruffled her hair playfully, earning a small laugh from Haley. "Don't be a stranger, Hales," he said

Ryan hugged her tightly, kissing her cheek. "Don't forget who taught you how to be awesome," he teased, making her smile.

Drew and Brian were last, both giving her long, affectionate hugs. Drew added with a chuckle, "Next time, maybe you'll bring the whole wedding album."

Haley laughed, shaking her head. "You're never going to let that go, are you?"

"Nope," Brian said with a grin. "But hey, we're all really happy for you, Hales."

Nathan watched as each member of her family took a turn, clearly showing just how much love surrounded Haley. He couldn't help but feel grateful to be part of this world now, a world full of people who cherished her so deeply.

When they finally made their way to the door, Lydia called out one last time, "Take care of each other, you two."

Haley nodded, smiling as Nathan opened the door for her. "We will," she assured them, waving as they stepped outside. Nathan gave a nod of thanks to the James family before closing the door behind them.

As they walked out into the cool night air, Nathan pulled Haley close, wrapping an arm around her. "That was…a lot of love in there," he said with a smile.

Haley smiled up at him, her heart feeling full. "They're a lot to handle, but I wouldn't trade them for anything."

Nathan kissed the top of her head as they walked towards their car. "I think I'm starting to see why you're so amazing, Hales. They definitely helped."

Haley blushed, resting her head against his shoulder. "I guess I've been lucky in more ways than one."

With that, they drove off into the night, hearts full from the love of family and the bond they shared.
