Minatsuki walked with Sakumo and Kousei were walking towards the Hatake Compound after checking out of the clothing store. Sakumo was surprised to see Minatsuki sealing the clothing away in two separate scrolls. Kousei wanted to be seated on Sakumo's shoulders.
"Kousei-kun, I have a sochi around your age. His name is Kakashi," said Sakumo.
Kousei tilted his head curiously, "Kashi?"
Minatsuki giggled, "Kakashi Ko-kun Kakashi..."
"Kashi," he repeated with child-like innocence.
Sakumo gave a snort, "Sure, Kashi. Now I'm sure you heard my name from Hokage-sama and from me introducing myself earlier, but I'm Hatake Sakumo."
Kousei went quiet for a few minutes before speaking, "Urufu," he said so suddenly that Sakumo nearly tripped as his face flushed. Minatsuki just laughed out at her son's cuteness.
Sakumo didn't even know where he had gotten that from because his name didn't sound near that at all, "No Kousei-kun, It's Sa-Ku-Mo."
Kousei started giggle and clapped his hands together, "Urufu-chan!"
Sakumo wilted when he heard a pair of passing women giggling at the sight, he looked to the blonde mother who was laughing her butt of, "Minatsuki-san~" he whined to her softly.
She calmed herself down and wiped her tears, "Sakumo-kun let it be, at least he's smiling, it has been a long time since he did that..."
Sakumo relented, "Fine."
The elder Hatake picked up the pace, waiting to get home as soon as possible. He was sure that his son would be worried by now, he was meant to be home 10 minutes before dinner, it was currently late into the evening. He went to the barrier and keyed the two in before heading through the compound and into the house.
"Tadaima!" he shouted out. A patter of feet later and Kakashi was in front of them, Sakumo had already placed Kousei back on the ground.
"Tō-chan!" Kakashi said as he came out the corridor that led to two bedrooms and a shared bathroom.
Kousei hid behind the leg of his mother than wasn't raised up. Kakashi froze at the sight of the red-haired doll. For context, Kousei has long hair that reached his shoulder blades, they were spikey yet soft too.
Kakashi tilted his face to the side, "Tō-chan why do you have a doll with you?" his little nose twitched, and he looked up to see Minatsuki next to his father. He began to feel some panic. Did his father bring someone to replace his mother? He didn't want that; he didn't even know what his Kā-chan was like. Minatsuki seemed to sense it before Sakumo. She placed her crutches against a wall next to a door that probably led to a master bedroom. She settled on the ground, placing her legs to the side and using her hands to support her weight so it seemed that it was broken. Kakashi jumped when she touched his head and gently ruffled his silver hair.
"What are you thinking Kakashi-kun? Don't be afraid to say it," she asked softly.
He looked to her with wide, panic-filled eyes, "Did Tō-chan bring you to replace Kā-chan?"
Ah. Now she could properly understand. He didn't know a lot about her mother and as a result he thought that he would never get to know anything with a new woman round.
She shook her head, "No he didn't. Sakumo-kun is just letting us stay," she brought Kousei forward with a hand, "This actually my son, Kousei."
"I thought he was a girl."
Minatsuki chuckled and Kousei blushed and looked down, "Kousei wouldn't let me, or his father cut his hair too short."
He looked back up with big blue eyes, Kakashi thought that they were violet a minute ago, then Kousei spoke in a curious soft and kind voice that made Kakashi blush, "Kashi?"
"Yes Kousei-kun, this is my sochi, Kakashi."
Slowly the crimson haired child stepped towards hesitant but curious look at Kakashi, who felt himself freeze when he looked at those color changing eyes again, they were so pretty. He knew boys shouldn't look pretty but his eyes... were just so... pretty. There wasn't any other way to describe them. He felt another blush creep on to his face when he gave him a tiny smile. He didn't even realize who close Kousei really was until his scent invaded his nose through the mask. The Sun. How could someone smell like the sun? He noticed her own nose twitch and he tilted his head at him again.
"Inu?" He asked before smiling, "Inu-chan!" he grinned and even as he blushed, he bristled.
"I do not smell like a dog!" Kakashi growled and Kousei backed up scared, thinking he had done something wrong. Kakashi's face softened and he took a step forward, "Sorry, I didn't mean to yell at you." Then he saw the spark of something in his eyes that sent shiver down his spine. He took a step back, but his instincts told him to bolt when he saw the foxy grin lift on his face. And he was right.
"Inu-chan!" Kousei giggled as he chased after Kakashi. The dark eyed child snarled and dodged his first lunge then felt his foot pulled and he fell backwards. Kousei hugged his from the waist, trapping his arms too, then his legs were locked by Kousei's, and he nuzzled his chest.
"Inu!" giggled Kousei.
"TŌ-CHAN!" Kakashi cried out, "Get this weirdo off me!"
Sakumo blinked as he watched the once quiet child attach himself to Kakashi. Sakumo leaned in the doorway as he watched emotions flash over the child's face. He wondered if the child had a pet that had a similar scent and feel as Kakashi. Sakumo blinked at the thought and held back his laughter as his sochi continued to struggle.
Meanwhile, Kousei was just basking in the younger form of his Kaka-oji's scent. It was missing the paper and blood, but it was still his.
"Alright Ko-kun, that's enough," Minatsuki chuckled as he grabbed her son by the collar and extracted her from Kakashi. Kakashi scrambled up to his feet and glared at the red head. Kousei gave him a foxy grin in return.
"Kakashi-kun," Minatsuki called out and the silver headed child turned to her, "You can come to me with any questions you may have. From where I come, it's the father job to train you when it comes to strength of the body, but it's the aunt or mother's job to care for their emotional and mental strength. You can ask me any questions that you may have wanted to ask your mom, knowledge wise."
Kakashi nodded, "Hai, thank you," he bowed.
Minatsuki gave a motherly smile, "Why don't you show Kousei to his room?" the hidden Uzumaki handed her sochi a scroll full of his clothes.
Kakashi and Kousei walked down the hallway which Kakashi had originally come out of.
"You kid is quite something," Sakumo commented.
Minatsuki smiled again, she stood up carefully with her crutches, "Your right, he has some of his father's- "she stopped, not wanting to say anything not true. Sakumo took it as in she didn't want to talk about her lover.
Why don't I take you to your room with Kousei?" Sakumo suggested.
Minatsuki smiled, "That would be nice." He walked over into the corridor, pointed a door at the start that was Kakashi's room, then the next was the connected bathroom outside entrance, then the final door next to it at the end of the hall was the room that she was staying in. He showed her other parts of the compound that they used the most before letting her settle into the futon to sleep.
"Demon Child!"
"Just Die!"
"Monster!"
Laughter followed the horrible names as they flowed into a blonde child only the age of 6. It had been like this ever since she was little. The adults were the worst ever, and now the academy kids were doing it as well. Minatsuki felt a tear fall down her cheek as one of the older boys stepped closer to her. She couldn't go anywhere and was eventually pressed up against the wall. Fear began to spiral in her chest. The felling was pushed away when she felt something stronger. A warmth that had always been there for as long as she could remember. She brushed the tears away and her lips lifted into a small smile, she recognizes the sunny yellow hair mixed in with crimson red anywhere, it was so much like hers.
She whispered her saviors name, "Otōto."
Bright Violet eyes looked over his shoulder and gave her the biggest grin yet. Then it disappeared as he turned around and charged at the boys. A sneer shone on her face as the bullies teamed up on him. She cocked her fist back and joined in with her baby brother, someone who would always protect her and not the other way around. This time, she wasn't weak.
When she woke up again she was in the battle field of the war and Naruto's lifeless body was next to her. His empty eyes staring back at her.
"Naruto!" she screamed and tried to shake him awake but nothing worked. To see his body again made her tremble in grief.
Minatsuki woke up feeling tears run down her cheeks, she missed her little brother so very much. He was her other half, and her heart ached without him. He knew everything about her and vis versa. She muffled her sobs, not wanting to wake up anyone in the house, especially her son. She curled up underneath her covers. But the tears still came out as the memory kept replaying in her mind.
She quietly got up and walked to the kitchen, holding the walls, then the table, the finally the countertops of the kitchen. She reached to where Sakumo told her where the glasses were. She filled it up with water and carefully drank it. More sobs tore through her throat, and she covered her mouth with a hand. A hand wrapped around her face and pulled her into a strong chest, she could tell from the chakra it was Sakumo.
Sakumo listened as the blonde woman called out for her little brother, "What happen?" he asked.
Minatsuki pulled her face out of his chest and rested the side of her head against it, "H-he died," she cried out again, "He died saving me!"
Sakumo ran his fingers through her silky hair, "I'm sorry you lost your little brother."
"Twin," she corrected, "He younger twin out of the two of us."
Sakumo's face and eyes held a lot of sympathy, "I'm sorry for your loss."
Minatsuki pulled away and Sakumo nearly whined at the loss of touch, he held it in him not wanting to scare the already fragile woman. She used the previous things from before to help her walk back to her room. Sakumo rested his head against a wall outside the hallway leading to Minatsuki's room. To hear that soft and wonderful person call out for her little brother was... well he just never wanted to hear something like that from her again, it literally felt as if his heart broke. He kept his steps quiet as he walked back to the master bedroom. He would notify the Hokage about Minatsuki's nightmare.
Kakashi watched the whole scene with wide eyes. He couldn't believe that such a nice lady had gone through so much, and had a son along the way. He swore to himself that he would protect her son when she couldn't, because she couldn't do everything, that would put to much strane on her.
Morning came and Minatsuki woke up when she felt Kakashi's chakra signature wake up. She walked into the bathroom and noticed all the necessities were there, shower and sink but that was. She guessed that the toilet was in the part that connected the to rooms together. She quickly did her morning routine and took a shower.
She decided to wear a teal blue long sleeve shirt underneath a sleeveless cantaloupe orange vest. She wore black pant and place her kunai and shuriken holsters on a table in the room just in case. She sees Kousei walking out the room dressed and with a brush against his chest. He walk out the bedroom door and Minatsuki follows. She walks into the kitchen and sees Sakumo about to start when she walks up, she carefully took the knife from him and began chopping the vegetables herself.
"You don't need to do that..." he said.
Minatsuki chuckled but didn't look up to him, her eyes on the onion she was cutting, "I want to do this Sakumo, why don't you go brush Kousei's hair, he quite enjoys it when someone does it for him."
Sakumo nodded, "Okay," he walked over to Kousei think about the blonde that reminded him some much of the mother to his child.
He squatted down to the violet eyed child's level. Kousei looked up and showed his the brush. "Do you want me to brush your hair?"
Kousei nodded with hopefull eyes, "Please?"
Sakumo nodded and sat Kousei on the ground while he sat behind him on a otomen that didn't have a backrest. The white haired ninja started to run his long fingers through the red locks and he could feel how soft it was and wondered how it spiked up in the first place.
"What hair style do you want Kousei-kun?"
Kousei turned his head slightly so he could see Sakumo, "Tō-chan used to do small braids in my hair and braid my bangs, then Mama would sometimes but different beads or feathers depending on whether she felt like it or not."
"Your hair is long and silky, it will make it very difficult to do anything with it unless it is wet," said Sakumo.
"How do you know this Tō-chan?" asked Kakashi.
Sakumo sighed, "Because your mother had a similar hair texture."
Kakashi's eyes widened, "You never talk about Kā-chan..."
Minatsuki came over and patted his head, "That's because when you love someone so deeply and you lose them, it gets hard to talk about it." Kakashi nodded and went back to watching Sakumo braid Kousei's hair. Sakumo gave a grateful smile to Minatsuki who smiled back at him kindly.
Kousei's long red hair had to braids on either side in the front with smaller braids in the back, Minatsuki had come later and placed a bright yet dull shade of castleton green – to match his shirt- and coral pink feathers to match the strips going down the sides black pants.
Minatsuki stood back up after finishing, "Well breakfast is ready, I put plates on the table for us to," after sitting, Sakumo noticed home much more food they had, Minatsuki spoke up having seen his curious expresion, "Because of how much chakra the both of us have, we tend to eat twice as much as an Akimichi when we are really hungry."
Sakumo nodded in understand, "I had a student who was a lot like that, she used to clean out my wallet all the time when she was a genin."
Minatsuki giggled, "She had red hair like Kousei-kun right?"
Sakumo nodded, "A lighter shade."
Minatsuki hummed, they finished. The two boys went out to train with Sakumo while Minatsuki when to go do the laundary, it was full and it looked like the ledgendary ninja couldn't do it that often. Sakumo – again – told her that she didn't have to do that but Minatsuki gave the same answer as before.
Sakumo sat on the Japanese deck at the back of the house which had stairs that lead to field in which they could train in. Sakumo crossed his arms and looked at the two, "The two of you will spar, Kousei, do you know a style?"
"Hai," Kousei answered, "Both my Oji-chan and Tō-chan taught me."
"Begin." Sakumo said and the two charged at each other. Puches and kicks were thrown at each other, and sweeps and dodges were used to defend and counterattack. The Taijutsu of the two were very similar. Sakumo's eyes widened slightly and trembled but it was barely noticable, Kousei's style had a bit of the Hatake in it. Had that woman been with one of his siblings who were in Uzushio at the time of the attack? He wondered with one, Raito, Shion, or maybe Kimika, or even Setsuna or the 3, he had 7 siblings since his father had 3 wives.
After a few more minutes, Sakumo ended the spar. Once the two were out of hearing range, Sakumo summoned one of his mesanger wolves. Hisami, a light lavender wolf who appeared in a cloud of smoke. She bowed her head and spoke in a surprisingly loud voice considering how small she was.
"Hisami need you to give a message to the Hokage."
"What is it?" she snapped, "You woke me up from a nap so lets make this quick," due to her ruff up bringing because she was considered the runt of the little when she was a pup. She was naturally rude and only the summoning clan was to blame.
"Tell him that Minatsuki had a nightmare and she spoke of a twin brother. Lastly, her son appears to have a bit of the Hatake style integrated into his Uzumaki."
"Alright, should I wait for a response?"
"Yes, I would like to know who he is going to handle this new information. Also, check to see if the blood work is from the hospital is done," answered Sakumo.
Hisami huffed and ran in the brush, disappearing to the Hokage tower. Sakumo stood up and headed back inside to see Kakashi and Kousei waiting at the door with Minatsuki, who was wearing bother her kunai holsters and a hand bag around her neck and resting on her right hip, as well as holding her crutches.
Sakumo gave her a questioning look and she answered the hidden question, "The doctor said I still have to use the crutches until the next time I see the Hokage. I feel better but I'm going to follow what he says when we are outside these ground."
Sakumo nodded and in a few moments they were ready to head out. Kakashi and Kousei in between the two and Kousei was looking up at him shyly.
"Urufu-chan?"
"Hai Kousei-kun?"
"Can I have a ride?"
Sakumo smiled kindly and lifted the boy up onto his shoulders. His left arm resting on Kakashi's head. As the group made their way through the village, the villagers and shinobi were whispering and pointing at the group. Minatsuki giggled when Sakumo sighed and smacked his face, people were smiling and waving good morning, then heading back to their gossiping. While there was the rudimental tension of the upcoming war, there was no hate directed at her.
"They don't know that you hold me," Kurama whispered in her mind. Minatsuki grunted at the obvious answer.
'Thanks for the reminder. Sleep well?' asked Minatsuki in return as he small group walked throught the village.
The fox grunted and Minatsuki slipped into her mindscape. She found Kurama just resting under the Sakura tree. She smiled happily at seeing him appearing to be much better. She looked around the scape and saw how hard he had been working on it; the forest that had once surrounded the giant tree had began to grow again.
'Doing some house keeping I see...'
"Well I can multitask even when sleepig... Now that you have all my chakra along with an extra half, I have been working on trying to balancing the excess amount of Yang chakra with Yin..."
"And how's that long?"
The fox opened a singular eye to regard Minatsuki's form in the mindscape, "Slowly but surely it's balancing, but it might take a few years before it can be fully complete... That also means we can't use the bijū cloak... Sage Mode is okay though... You must have patience for everthing else..."
Minatsuki hummed and nodded in agreement, 'Seriously?'
Kurama raised an eyebrow, "Do you want to die from chakra exhausion?" he flicked on of his tails lazily towards her and she easily ducked with a sigh.
'No.' then Minatsuki snorted, 'Patience is something that will never change in this world.'
"Get out now. You're at the academy." He rudely kicked her out of her own mind.
She blinked and then realized that they did arrive at the academy. She noticed that Kakashi was glaring at the screaming children all running around the yard waiting for the classes to start.
"Tō-chan," Kakashi whined.
"Come one Kakashi, you need friends your age, and one day these people will be your comrades..."
Kakashi groaned, but stopped when Kousei grabbed his hand. He glanced over to him to see a smile on his face.
"Soon Kashi... then I'll be with you each step of the way..." Kousei said.
Kakashi huffed and pulled away, "I don't need a boy who looks like a girl to keep me company..."
Kousei jerked back in surprise and with hurt in his eyes. Kakashi generally thought that he hurt Kousei but was careful incase it was. He hugged the shorter biy who rested his head against his shoulder.
"Bye Inu..." whispered Kousei, eho hugged his so tight htat they toppled on to the ground.
"Get OFF!" Kakashi snarled and Kousei giggled as they moved into a wrestling match until he was ripped off like velrco by Sakumo.
"Bye By Inu-kun!" Kousei shouted while waving and Kakashi's face flushed at hearing a few mothers giggle. Minatsuki watched as some of the boys came up and showed their sympathy for his 'Imōto' embarrasing him. Then Kakashi, out of the blue and totally unexpectedly, growled at them and told them that his 'Imōto' was a boy. Then they all backed away. Sakumo everntually tapped her shoulder as she had spaced out in her thoughts again, before turning around and heading for Hokage Tower.
"Sakumo..." a loud voice came from a tree. Sakumo turned and Kousei and Minatsuki looked at a beautiful lavendar wolf sitting with its head resting on its paws.
'Is it a wolf or a kitty?' thought Kousei at the cat like perch the wolf had taken on the branch.
"Ah Hisami. Hokage-sama has given a response?"
"Yes, the blood tests came back for Minatsuki and Kousei. He also wishes for you to bring said two to the Hokage's office."
"Thank you Hisami..." Sakumo said and the wolf nodded, he looked to Minatsuki and her child, "Looks like we are heading to the Hokage again Kousei-kun, Minatsuki."
"Hai," Kousei mubbled before burying his face in Sakumo's vest. Sakumo sighed and decided that they should shunshin instead of walk, he stood up and wrapped an arm around Minatsuki's waist so suddenly that it made her blush.
"Sa-Sakumo-kun," she stuttered, she hadn't felt like this ever since... well since Tobirama. Next thing she knew, they were outside the Hokage office. He left her waist and she whined at the lost of contact. She heard Sakumo chuckle before a door opened, she walked inside and sat infront of the Hokage with Kousei to her left. Hiruzen dismissed Sakumo, but not before tossing him a scroll.
Sakumo gave him a questioning look, "Hokage-sama?"
"While me and these two talk, you go find the family members that we found related to them. There names are in the scroll and the orders are for them to come to the office."
Sakumo nodded and looked to Minatsuki with hesitant eyes, the blonde gave him a reasurring smile and he gave a small one in return. After that, Sakumo disappeared in a swirl of leaves and the Hokage ordered his hidden ANBU out.
"Mins-chan? You wanna talk about it?" asked the Sandaime and Minatsuki took a deep breath before speaking.
"I had a dream from a memory of our childhood, and not a good one. With us being Kurama's containers not a secret, we were often bullied by children. Even through all the hardship, I still had Naruto. The memory was of a fight that the two of us got into because Naruto was trying to defend me from bullies. Then the scene suddenly changed to-" she choked on a sob, "it was the image of his being dead. Anyways, back to my story..."
Hiruzen listened as Minatsuki spoke about all the trouble her and Naruto used to get inot as children. The love in her gaze was shadowed by her grief. Kousei hugged his mother as tears feel down her cheeks. The Hokage new the woman needed this, she needed to tell someone about her brother. There was a knock at the door after sometime and Minatsuki quickly wiped the tears away. Inohachi came walking in.
"Another mind scan?" asked Minatsuki.
"No, we are going to discuss abpt your family tree and finish getting your story together for Kushina and Minato." Hiruzen said and the blue eyed woman nodded for him to continue, "Now according to the records, Uzumaki Mitake was the youngest son of the Uzumaki clan head. And the youngest brother to Uzumaki Mito. He married Uzumaki Suiki and had three sons. The eldest and youngest sons bodies were confirmed dead. Uzumaki Fuyuta, the middle child, was also assumed dead as well, he will be your Uzumaki father."
"Won't that be to far from Kushina's blood?"
"No, Suiki had a younger brother, Uzumaki Naruhito, he married Uzumaki Hinato, Kushina's mother."
"So my great uncle is also my first cousin?"
"Hai..." The Sandaime smirked.
"As for Kousei, his father will be Uzumaki-Hatake Raishirō was found dead. Sakumo's father married an Uzumaki in order to help restore the clan with two other woman, a civilian and another only surviving clan member."
Minatsuki's nose scrunched up, "Clan family trees are weird." The two chuckled at the Uzumaki's words.
"As for your mother, you will be half-sisters with Minato's mother, Ayahi, who's mother is Namikaze Zerin." The Sarutobi handed her a scroll, "In that scroll is forged birth certificates." Minatsuki grunted, not wanting to know the reason why.
"Did Kushina know any of them, on the Uzumaki side?"
The Hokage shook his head, "No, she would have as Fuyuta was more than three decades older than her. Oh and your taking therapy, whether you like it or not, that's an order from your Hokage."
Minatsuki rolled her eyes, "So how long are you going to make them wait, Sakumo came back with them five minutes ago."
Inohachi bowed, "Then I will dismiss myself, Hokage-sama. Minatsuki, I will see you soon for your first appointment."
"Sen Namikaze-san and Uzumaki-san in with Sakumo when you leave," Hiruzen ordered as Minatsuki put Kousei in her lap and she put her nose in his hair not wanting to smell her original parents scents.
