Chapter 39; Interrogation

"Where are we going?" Silver asked as he was pulled by his arm, "Why so early?" He yawned, stumbling over his own two feet.

The chilly air nipped at his nose and ears, slithering under his hastily put-on clothes and making him shutter. So cold…the sun wasn't even up yet. Snipe's grasp was firm and a little stronger than needed. No words were spoken from the pro as he dragged Silver along the sidewalk. The psychic's hair was a mess, which seemed to be becoming normal. All those knots…quills were much easier to maintain. Still trying to rub the sleep from his eyes, he stumbled after Snipe. The world was so dark and quiet, the chill of the early fall air was uncomfortable without a coat. The stars were still visible in the sky. Clouds danced in soft patches above. So cold. It couldn't be later than five in the morning.

Silver couldn't understand what was so important. His inhibitor rings had been hastily put on, his clothes even more quickly changed with sleepy vigor. The psychic's mind didn't ever fully wake till after six. He was yawning and fumbling over his own two feet. His body ached for his warm bed and his mind still desperately gripping to sleep's reminance. Silver was only half awake. Unsure if this was even reality or a dream. Was he sleepwalking? Chaos, every breath he took looked like he was smoking a cigarette. He must be dreaming.

Snipe opened the doors to UA, the warmth felt like a wave washed over him. So nice…Silver yawned again. He hadn't slept well. The young trainee's mind had been troubled with doubt and unease at his unanswered questions. His sleep was tainted with nightmares of being back in All for One's grasp. He had only finally fallen asleep to a dream he forgot when Snipe ordered him to change. Now here they were, in UA at ungodly hours. The ivory-haired trainee stumbled a bit as his wrist was finally released from the grasp of the pro. Huh…this was just an empty classroom.

"Sit down," Snipe said sternly, lacking emotions to give context to why Silver was there. It wasn't like the psychic would have picked it up anyway. He sucked at these types of social puzzle games. Plus…sleep was too alluring to think clearly.

Ms. Midnight approached Silver as he made himself comfortable on a desk. "Hello, Silver, " She said with her usual smirk, putting her hand on the desk.

"Hey, Ms. Midnight…" The psychic mumbled, stretching as Snipe left the room, "Why..am I here..?"

"We just wanna keep an eye on you kiddo," She said with her more normal smile. At least she was less tense…couldn't say the same about Snipe though. "You've got us teachers in a big fuss, that's for sure," The pro smiled regardless of her words, "All fussy like mama hens in a coop worried about their chicks." Silver frowned, feeling a bit bad for making his teachers worry. Ms Midnight softly pulled on her sleeve, "Sleepy?" She asked softly, tearing the fabric of her sleeve.

The psychic nodded with a yawn. As he did so, a pink mist began to surround him. Silver's eyes dilated with the mist, barely able to process the fact that he was being sedated. His head began to tilt back, yet the teacher caught it. Silver's vision blurred as Ms. Midnight gently put Silver's head forward on the desk.

"No…fffaaaaairrr…" The psychic slurred as his mind slowed. Ms. Midnight's quirk was already kicking his butt though. Sleep was taking hold, trying to yank him to the dark void of dreams that awaited. "I'mmm…..sor…." The whisper just barely escaped his lips as the psychic's mind was shoved deep into slumber. However, his genuine words were just short of being spoken before he was asleep. Silver wished he had more time to apologize for worrying his teachers….

"Mm.."

The nudging persisted, poking Silver's arm endlessly. It didn't hurt, but it grew annoying. He was sleeping. And the nudging was trying to wake him. The psychic shifted, furrowing his brows and hiding his head further into his arms. His ears bend back, gripping to the remains of sleep. As he dipped into the beginnings of sleep once more, a nudge pulled him back out. That was the last straw. His amber eyes opened in frustration, peeking out of his folded-up arms. Present Mic smiled at Silver softly, mid-nudge.

"Why..?" Silver grumbled softly as he glared at Present Mic.

"Come on kiddo," The teacher urged the student to wake up. Silver frowned as he stared at his teacher, only for Snipe to barge in and order Silver to follow with a lot less kindness than Mic.

The walk after that was…unpleasant. Silver was once again yanked around by his wrist. Treated more like a prisoner than a student. The halls were empty of students and glances at clocks only told that school had been let out around ten minutes ago. Had he truly slept for that long? (A\N; Oh yeah he did, thanks to Ms. Midnight.) They ended up entering a room Silver hadn't noticed before. Teachers quietly mused among themselves and drank warm tea and coffee. The room was simple. Small and painted white with tables and chairs. However, the oddity was that the room was divided by glass. Silver stared at the glass dividing the room in half with visible confusion. A table set with two chairs and steaming cups was in the other room.

"Hey, you must be Silver," The psychic turned, hearing his name. A tall man with a loose white shirt, casual black pants, and dark hair greeted Silver with a smile. The trainee furrowed his brows, had he seen this man before? He couldn't recall.

"This is my friend Naomasa Tsukauchi," All Might said as he gestured to the new man, who nodded, "You can trust him, Silver."

With that, Silver was shoved into the other half of the room with the random man. And without any say in his new predicament. The trainee stared at the table, then glanced behind him at the glass wall now isolating him with Tsukauchi. The single table, set with two chairs and two cups of warm tea was the only notable thing in the otherwise empty and quiet room. It felt like he had done some sort of crime. Silver, reluctantly, sat down at the seat. Sitting across from the stranger and sighing. Last night left his nerves uneasy. Things hadn't gone as…smoothly…as Silver had hoped. There were mixed feelings among his teachers, leaving the trainee just as much, if not more, in disarray. So, being placed in an isolated room with a new person, felt like a test or a punishment of some kind.

The kind eyes from Tsukauchi looked to disprove this theory but Silver still stayed on edge, "Have some tea to ease your nerves."

Silver stared at the tea in front of him. Gently grabbing it and bringing it to his lips. The psychic almost choked at the taste that met his taste buds. Expecting the savory herbed tea or perhaps the more sweetened taste of honey. Yet one overwhelming flavor was making him struggle to not spit it out. Salt. That was the taste he got instead. Overly salty, like Bakugo's attitude. Who the heck even puts salt in tea at all?! Silver grew tense as he gripped the cup in his hand and forced himself to swallow politely. The psychic was straining to keep his face from displaying his disgust. There had to be a half cup of salt in this darn tea! This was not editable in the slightest!

"Do you like it?" Tsukauchi asked as Silver struggled to deal with the horrific aftertaste, "I made it myself."

The psychic's brows furrowed, an uneasy smile on his face. In the name of the emeralds, this man should be banned from making tea. Tossed into freaking prison for the crime his mouth was enduring. He had to physically strain himself from blurting out what he genuinely thought. He had to be nice…maybe Tsukauchi just mixed up the sugar with salt by accident? Silver was only able to bite the inside of his cheek as he nodded.

"Yeah," he coughed out, trying to rid himself of the salty aftertaste still clinging to his tongue. "It's…nice." Silver wheezed slightly, scraping his tongue against his teeth in his mouth to discreetly remove the taste. His eyes locked on the drink rather than looking at Tsukauchi at all. He had been told he was a terrible liar, but he hoped the small lie was believable enough not to hurt anyone's feelings.

The stranger just smiled kindly, "Thank you." Silver was…genuinely surprised Tsukauchi bought it but felt a bit of relief. Tsukachi nodded gently, "Right, so your teachers were saying they came to some disagreement on what to do with you." Silver's ears lowered slightly. "Would you mind explaining to me the situation?"

"They didn't tell you…anything about it?" Silver asked, eyeing the man before him with unsure eyes.

"Nope."

The psychic sighed deeply. Telling the teachers yesterday was a disaster. Silver felt a bit hesitant, and frankly discouraged from telling anyone else. Let alone some new person he just met. But again, the feeling of this being a test stalked him like a hungry lion. He didn't want to tell anyone else. The risk of it all crashing down, being kicked out, or worse hung over his head. The ivory-haired trainee met Tsukauchi's eyes with hesitance. But…it felt like he didn't have a choice.

"You won't tell anyone?" He asked hesitantly, watching Tsukauchi promise to keep quiet about it. The psychic tossed a glance behind Tsukauchi, the glass wall showing his teachers around their table and talking to themselves. He sighed, seeing he was a bit cornered into admitting the truth that so far…not a lot of humans liked hearing, "I'm an alien," Silver mumbled flatly, not too excited about parading around this fact to more people.

The term 'alien' was starting to feel more like an insult or a crime the more people he told…

A small moment passed before the man before him gave a reaction. The words processed and ran into the stranger like a truck. His eyes went wide, face paling and breath hitching. His calm demeanor crumbled in just a few simple words. "What?!" He asked in shock, immediately recoiling and collecting himself to the calm facade, "...Sorry, what?"

"I'm an alien," Silver recited, frowning a little at the reaction, "That's the problem."

"I.." Tsukauchi stared at his tea for a moment, furrowing his brow. A sharp inhale was taken as the stranger collected his thoughts, "Ok, I believe you, but out of curiosity…do you have proof?" Silver shifted into his natural Mobuin form, pulling the Chaos Emerald from his quills and setting it on the table in front of them, "...You have proof. Ok…so…why are you here?"

Why did everyone keep asking him like it was some choice? Like he was sticking around for a certain thing. What? Did they think he was sticking around for a holiday or something? The last holiday he learned from this planet did not end well, so frankly, he didn't exactly trust these holidays.

Silver's frown deepened, "Because I'm stuck here? I can't teleport across the universe. I didn't pack a spaceship with me either. I was kidnapped by All for One and brought here against my will. I'm not exactly here for a vacation." The hedgehog pointed out. Tsukauchi opened his mouth, paused, and promptly closed it.

The man in front of him began tapping his finger, "So..ok, hang on. All for One has a space-traveling quirk?" Concern was written all over Tsukauchi's face as Silver shrugged.

"I'm not exactly sure."

"He's bringing aliens here…?" Tsukauchi mumbled to himself, shaking his head, "That's a problem. Is there anyone else from your world that he brought here?"

Silver felt himself freeze for a moment. Well, the only other Mobuins he knew were on Earth were Mephlies and Blaze. Some deep-rooted feeling in his gut urged him, in a not-so-subtle manner, to ensure she wasn't identified as an alien. Whatever Silver would suffer from, he wanted to keep her safe. No matter the outcome. But he didn't want to lie! He sucked at lying, and that would only draw more attention to Blaze. Silver shifted in place, his ears dipping. Come on, think. The question was if All for One brought anyone else from his world. Well, Mephlies and Blaze! The psychic clenched his fists, replaying the question in his mind.

Wait. All for One didn't bring Blaze here! All for One likely didn't even know of her existence! Plus, she wasn't from his world. She was from the Sol Dimension!

"..Mephiles, unintentionally. He was hiding in my shadow I think when I got kidnapped," Silver said calmly, his heart feeling reassured. He was telling the truth and keeping Blaze safe, "I don't think he brought anyone else here. I could be wrong though."

The room fell into silence. Silver wasn't sure if he had done something wrong. Had Tsukauchi seen Silver's hesitation as suspicious? The hedgehog tried to look innocently confused. His hands wrung under the table though as his mind raced. Tsukauchi's thoughtful gaze locked with Silver's nervous one.

The stranger sighed softly, "Ok, so you're an alien. Mephiles, from the League, is also an alien. You're stuck on Earth..and so you're trying to get a hero's license?" Silver nodded softly, feeling the gaze of confusion. Tsukauchi took another beat to think, "Are you trying to hurt the students?"

"No, those are my friends!" The ivory hedgehog said a bit more defensively than probably needed. He was getting tired of that specific doubt about him though.

"Are you testing on the students or observing anyone for any tests?"

"No!"

Tsukauchi tilted his head, "You have no communication with your planet?"

"No, I can't call someone from who knows how far across the universe," Silver huffed and crossed his arms, "Unless I don't understand the internet."

"You're just genuinely trying to be a hero? No ulterior motives or side strings attached? You just got stuck here and decided you want to help?" The man asked, more softly than his earlier questions. His prior questions were not harsh or anything. Just his tone seemed more gentle than before.

Silver's arms relaxed a little, still crossed but more loosely, "Yeah. I mean, All Might put me in the Hero Course. I like the work I'm doing. I like my friends. And the training has been helping so much," He unfolded his arms, looking down at his gloves. His eyes softened. Silver had struggled to save people before, and this training was helping to make sure more people would be saved. Humans and Mobuis and anything in between. "Plus, it's my fault Mephlies is here. He was in my shadow. It's only fair if I clean up my mess."

Tsukauchi finally leaned forward, "You have good intentions with UA?" Silver nodded earnestly, wholeheartedly trying to prove he meant no harm. Tsukauchi tapped his finger on the table, "Now, do any of your classmates know about the fact you are an alien?"

Aw crap. There was no loophole this time. Silver hesitated, trying to find something to avoid admitting anyone knew. But it was so straightforward Silver would get all sweaty trying to lie. He didn't want Izuku to get detention though. So he tried his hand at plainly denying it.

"No." Silver said as calmly as he could. His heartbeat rang in his ears and he suddenly wasn't sure how much oxygen was a normal amount. Weirdly self-aware of the shallower breaths he was taking. Silver tried to control his breath and breathe deeper, but felt like he was only holding his breath.

The hedgehog's eyes avoided the raised eyebrow of the man in front of him. Tsukauchi snickered as Silver pulled nervously at his glove, "Alright, who'd you tell?"

Curse his stupid inability to lie, "…Bakugo." He tried to play it off as just Bakugo, but he felt his hands go clammy as he tried to keep Izuku from getting in trouble. Tsukauchi remained quiet, an amused smile and raised brow on his face as he waited for Silver to crumble. The sweat beading on the hedgehog's face accompanied by the stupid amount of effort to breathe 'normally' made him look down, "…Bakugo and Izuku." He finally admitted. Silver knew he didn't look natural holding his breath in weird deep breaths. Plus Tsukauchi's amusement only made him feel more silly in trying to lie.

The man, still smiling, simply asked, "Only them?"

"Yeah…" Silver mumbled in defeat.

Tsukauchi stood up, his chair scooting backward, "Pretty honest, a bit to process but thanks for not lying about most of it." All Might's friend turned to the glass door, briefly hesitating to open it, "I added the salt in there on purpose by the way. Sorry for that." And with that, Tsukauchi opened the door and walked over to the teachers.

Silver was left in the isolated room by himself. The crime in a cup sitting in front of him. That…half cup of salt in the tea…WAS ON PURPOSE?! Why?! The hedgehog's nose scrunched as he realized just how much he hated learning that. Who would ruin a cup of delicious tea like that?! Why?! No. No, no, no. Silver was going to call the police if he ever heard this man making tea again. Ruining food was something he loathed down to the bone. His core seething with disgust and disappointment in the fact someone would go out of their way to ruin food like this. What did tea ever do to him?!

The worst part was that Silver was really hungry. He would have loved some good, not salted, tea. He hadn't eaten anything since lunch….of yesterday.

The hedgehog had no idea what to think of what just happened. Tsukauchi seemed nice, if not evil when it came to tea. But the whole situation felt weird. Telling some stranger he was an alien. The fact that the stranger had been less shocked and angry than some of his teachers. And that guy believed Silver with barely any proof. He just…trusted the hedgehog so easily…just like that? Not even Izuku had believed Silver THAT easily! It felt kinda strange, nice to have no doubt, but strange.

Silver reluctantly got up after a moment, following Tsukauchi's path and meeting the teachers. A sour grumbling buzzed in the air as Vlad and Hound Dog hung their heads. Nezu was nodding about something said before Silver's entrance. Silver shifted back into his human form, swiping some hair out of his eyes. A silence held in the air as the teachers turned to Silver. It sounded like Silver had walked into a courtroom. The psychic felt his skin crawl, the eyes of the pros judging him silently. Had he done something wrong? The room loomed with a tense feeling. The psychic shifted in his spot. Was he meant to wait outside…?

"Thank you for taking the time out of your day to help, Tsukauchi," Nezu said politely after a sip of tea. The small principal turned to the issue at hand, "This has been very insightful. I think," Nezu glanced around, looking at the other teachers, "We've all come to a conclusion."

"You were pretty honest," Silver glanced at Aizawa, growing more confused by the moment. The pro gestured to a small impression on the table.

Silver frowned, taking a few steps closer to see what exactly his teacher was pointing to. In the middle of the table, there was a square that was quite a bit lower than the rest of the table. Inside the little box-like impression were two things. A speaker of some kind and two lights labeled 'Truth' and 'Lie'. Silver grew even more befuddled.

Tsukauchi gently tapped Silver's shoulder, showing a similar Truth and Lie thing in his hand. Rather than lights they looked like buttons. "I'm a detective," Tsukauchi said, pressing the truth button, making the truth light glow simultaneously, "Your teachers wanted solid evidence for your true intentions. What better than a human lie detector?"

Silver stood there, trying to understand what he was being told. Had he just been in an interrogation? Those buttons and lights…the speaker. They could hear everything, couldn't they? Tsukauchi was discreetly telling them what was true and what wasn't. Honestly, Silver wasn't sure if he felt offended by that or not. He was put into an interrogation without even knowing. It felt a bit like breaching his privacy. But on the other hand, if this proved to his teachers that he wasn't going to hurt anyone, then could he really be mad? It wasn't that he was worried about being caught lying. He had been really honest and he knew that. It was all the same points he was trying to prove yesterday. Just now he had someone backing him up and saying he wasn't lying.

"Since you prove to be no threat to UA," Nezu grinned and picked up his cup of tea again, "We've all agreed that you may continue at UA. On the agreement that you won't hide secrets like this anymore." Silver let out a shaky breath of relief. He hoped this was the last time he had to go through any doubt about being at UA. This being a daily occurrence seemed like an exhausting idea.

"Yeah, if there is something up with your alien..ness, let us know!" Mic said as loud as ever. Silver flinched at the volume but smiled.

Silver nodded, which seemed like a fair agreement, "Some of us are still sour about this," Aizawa hummed, looking at Vlad who crossed his arms, "But you won't see anything held against you." The glare and sharpness of his teacher's words seemed..more for Vlad than they were for Silver.

"Thank you," The ivory-haired boy bowed gratefully, "I'll try my best to stay out of trouble."

SilverPsychic; *Wheezing* I had to finish this chapter fast. My friend gave me a deadline so I could feed you guys. Gotta thank her for doing that, it helped a lot.

Silver; Awww…so I'm not going to be a cool vigilante?

SilverPsychic; Sadly nooo, Tsukauchi saved your tail. Or ruined your chance to be cool, depends on how you look at it.

Shadow; He wouldn't have been cool either way. Now he will stay dry and fed. If he was a 'vigilante' he'd be a soaking wet homeless hedgehog. Arguably the better option, but still not even remotely 'cool'.

Silver; …You just want to see me on the streets…and it not even be cool?

Shadow; I don't think your genes could ever get close to the definition of cool. And your suffering can be amusing.

SilverPsychic; Darn it Shadow, stop bullying Silver. I'm at least bullying him for the betterment of the story and character development so he can be cool. You're just being mean. *Shadow shrugs* …For those of you hoping for vigilante Silver, don't lose hope yet.

Silver; WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?! YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE ME HOMELESS AT SOME POINT?!

SilverPsychic; . . . . I can't confirm nor deny that. Anyway, now I get to write Silver in da movieeee! How cool! He gonna get YEETED! (Silver in the background; I THOUGHT YOU SAID I WAS YOUR FAVORITE CHARATER?! WHY DO YOU MAKE ME SUFFER LIKE THIS?!) …I can't hear you! Because NEXT TIME! I can finally show you guys Silver's new costumes! His main updated costume and his winter costume! Those of you on my YT already saw lol. See you next time my Chaos Born Heroes! Have a cookie and a great day/night!
