Chapter 14: The Sports Festival Begins!
It's been two weeks and much the class trained hard. The members of the Zodiac did train, though Katsuki was the one who took it the most seriously. But still…
Time went by very quickly and it was the day of the Sports Festival.
And Shoto of all people was having a crisis.
"What's wrong?" asked Izuku.
"My dad…" said Shoto.
"Are you worried how your dad will react if you lose?" asked Ojiro.
Shoto gave him a look.
"You haven't seen my brother's three sports festival have you?" asked Shoto.
"No I haven't… why?" said Ojiro.
"He was embarrassing." Said Shoto with a sigh, "He cheered over enthusiastically and makes something of a fool of himself…"
"I see." Said Ojiro.
"I want to do my best… but…" said Shoto.
"He's going to make everything a big deal." Said Izuku.
"Fuyumi and Natsuo were so lucky they could duck out… I can't…" said Shoto.
"Don't worry I'm sure it won't be that." Said Mina.
Shoto just looked at her.
He still wasn't sure what her ties with his dad were, he hasn't been able to figure out due to the Sports Festival prep. In fact the next couple weeks were going to hectic as well so he wasn't sure when he would babel to do his studying before then.
But still even he could that Mina was unsure about what she was saying…
Shoto just weighed… he hoped that it would be done quickly.
Izuku noticed the time.
"All right!" he called out, "It's time to line up."
And so they headed to the tunnel where they entered the arena.
Everyone was amazed by the crowd and the stadium itself, it was very large after all.
Of course Present Mic did give them a certain introduction about how they were the class that faced off villains.
"Does he really have to give that introjection?" asked Hagakure.
It was still clear that she was salty about the other classes showing up.
Soon class 1-B was introduced as the other hero class.
"Remember." Said Itsuka, "What happened when the other classes tried to confront the class."
Class 1-B had heard about Hagakure's breakdown.
Knowing that one of the members of the other class hated what happened and felt useless during the helped the class realize that they weren't lucky to ace villains.
Of course the other courses and classes were introduced.
"And now this year's referee!" called out Present Mic.
A heroine with a costume that made her dominatrix stepped onto the stage.
"It Midnight!" cheered Mineta.
"All right!" said the heroine known as Midnight, "To give the student oath, let's give it for Izuku Midoriya!"
Izuku went up the stage.
"Midoriya is the representative?" asked Sero.
"He did get first place." Said Mina.
"For the hero exams." Said a girl nearby rather snidely.
The class just ignored her however…
Izuku got up to the stage and took a breath.
"I know my class got attacked by villains a couple weeks ago, but that doesn't mean we're better than anyone else." Said Izuku, "I'm going to be completely honest, there was a moment I was terrified."
Of course he was leaving out the fact it involved his nemesis.
"Still all of us want to get noticed and I'm still going to do my best!" said Izuku, "Plus Ultra!"
The crowd cheered at the last bit… and more of the students realized that well… hearing that the best performing student was terrified during the incidence… that was humbling for some students…
"YTA Shinso." Said a green haired girl to the lavender haired boy "YTA!"
He lavender haired boy named Shinso sighed.
"All right now for our first event!" called out Midnight.
There was some kind of wheel that appeared behind her and reveled the event… which was an obstacle course race.
Midnight explain the rules which was going aa around a course around d the stadium with the main rule being they couldn't leave the course.
And soon everyone lined up at the starting point waiting for the event to start, however Izuku realized something right away.
He stood in the back of the crowd, however everyone noticed this.
Some of them wondered what he hung back but other quicky realized it… he saw the truth about it.
And soon they were given the green light and everyone headed through the tunnel out of the arena…
Which was a rather narrow.
Because of that Izuku realized it was the first obstacle.
But still he has a plan.
He channeled his quirk and bounced off the walls above everyone heads.
He soon got past most of the crowd.
Which didn't help as Shoto froze the ground as he got near the end of the tunnel.
He knew that despite his embarrassment he still wanted to do his best though he knew for a fact Enji was probably cheering a lot.
And indeed it was true in the crowd Enji was proudly cheering.
But many were able to avoid the ice and get through the tunnel.
After a bit Mineta took the lead.
Then he got attacked by the a robot from the exam.
It was the first real obstacle.
The robots from the exam including the Zero Pointers.
"So these are the robots from the entrance exam." Said Shoto.
"They are." Said Izuku.
Shot nodded/
Then he froze one of the zero pointers and ran.
"By the way I left it off center on purpose!" said Shoto.
Then the robot collapsed.
"Sorry!" he called out as he ran away.
And the robot landed on two students, thankfully one of them was Eijiro.
"Whoa if that was anybody else they would have died." Said Eijiro.
Then Tetsutetsu emerged.
"If that was anybody else they would be dead." Said Tetsutetsu
Those that saw this all stared at it.
However Yaoyorozu knew she had to do something and created a canon to take it down.
Not only that but Izuku punched some of the smaller robots away.
"We need to all work together to clear the robots." Said Yaoyorozu.
A good chunk of the students worked together to take down the robots and soon they got passed them.
Next was a large canyon called the fall.
Izuku was able to get passed it pretty easily.
Though others aren't 'so lucky, Ochaco, as did Katsuki who flew over, manages to get passed with Neito using a quirk he copied to get over quite easily.
Mina, Eijiro and Itsuka.
"You guys want to work together for this one?" asked Mina .
"Good idea." Said Eijiro.
"Probably for the best." Said Itsuka.
With the three of them working together they were able to get passed to the ropes.
And soon enough they got to the last one. However soon enough they all got to the last obstacle.
Which was a mine field.
"A mine field? Really!" yelled Izuku.
Others got to it too.
Izuku sighed and looked over the mines. He could tell they got closer in proximity the further in.
But then he realized something.
He started to look at other people being flung around by the mines as they weren't lethal but just made a big boom that flung them around.
He then got an idea.
He gave a big leap and jumped on one in a certain angle and then used it to fling himself to the next one and over and over again.
"Look at that!" yelled Present Mic, "It's like he's skipping stones!"
Everyone was shocked by this.
In the stand Toshinori laughed knowing it would take a lot of knowledge to get the timing right.
Izuku was somehow beaten but managed to make it across first.
"You bastard!" yelled Katsuki.
Izuku sighed and ran for it.
Katsuki was right on his tail using his explosions to catch up.
Izuku sighed and soon the two approached the stadium again and were neck and neck.
And soon they crossed the finish line with Izuku winning.
"YOU BASTARD!" yelled Katsuki, "Why did you have to win!"
"I said I was going to try my best…" said Izuku.
And soon enough the others crossed with all of the hero course students making it to the top 42 which was the cutoff point along with Shinso
Shoto ended up getting third.
He did try his best, however he just sighed in embarrassment.
"YES SHOTO! THAT'S MY BOY! YOU GOT THIRD! WHICH IS REALLY GOOD!" yelled Enji from the crowd.
"And there's Endeavor's known proud papa enthusiasm.' Said Present Mic.
Shoto just sighed in embarrassment.
"There, there…" said Yaoyorozu, "It could have been worse."
"How worse?" asked Shoto.
"Mineta rode me to the finish line." Muttered Yaoyorozu.
"Oh…" said Shoto who switched to comforting his friend.
"You did!" said Mina hugging him.
"That was really cool during the mine field." Said Ochaco blushing.
Izuku blushed at this.
"We all got in!" said Itsuka.
"Yeah most of it was rough." Sighed Eijiro.
"You got crushed by a robot." Said Izuku.
"I'm fine." Said Eijiro, "Don't worry about it. "
"All right! So it looks like we have everyone for the next round…" said Midnight, "Now to announce the next round!:"
The wheel spun to show Cavalry Battle.
"All right your point amount is determined by how you did in the race… with the bottom being worth 5 points, 41stbeing 10 points… and gained five pointes… until first place which is 10 Million points."
Just about everyone looked at Izuku who just sighed in exasperation.
"Of course I'm a target…" he thought, "Should have known."
With the first round done they had to look forward to the second round… and what Izuku didn't know was that not everyone was going to turn on him and he would end up with a really team for a competition like this.
