Chapter 15 All I want to do
Chuck and Sarah stood huddled together like two nervous school kids who just got caught by the principal. Chuck looked at Sarah then back at Beckman. "What do you mean?" Chuck asking for clarification.
"Do you think me an idiot?" Her eyes glaring at the two of them.
"No ma'am." They both quickly responded.
"Then don't lie to me." Chuck continued to hold Sarah's hand. Chuck finally came clean. "Yes, we were involved, we are involved but at no time did I favour her or treat her any differently than any other recruit. Well except for the mission but I had my reasons. Everything else was."
"But you two were together during her training." Chuck looked at Sarah. "We were but." Sarah stepped forward. "General I didn't know what Chuck did for a living when I met him and when I did, we tried to stay away from each other and in no way did he favour me or treat me differently. He even tried not to have me join the Gaez mission." Thankyou Sarah. Her voice a lot calmer.
"I must caution you that allowing your private life to interfere with your professional one is a dangerous mix. But you two have shown that it can work." Shocked, Chuck replied. "Thank you?" Then he looked at Beckman. "Can I ask you something General?" She stood stoic. "When did you know?"
"I have known about you two since Santorini." Chuck and Sarah looked at each other. "Pardon me?"
"Fitzroy called me when he found you and he mentioned you made him wait till midnight before you left, the hotel." Chuck looked at her. "I did."
"Then he said that he assumed that you weren't alone."
"No, I wasn't. I left at midnight with no plans to see her again. And I believed that was my intention. And it wasn't till I saw her standing in front of me who she was and that she was there."
"Besides Fitzroy telling me that you had someone with you and that you knew nothing of her recruitment I let it go. But I had my doubts, you seemed to make it work. Also, when you were adamant for her not to go on the Gaez mission that made it clear that you two were more than what others saw you as. And with the wedding. Like I said I know everything. Your names popped up when you got your marriage licence. I was surprised that you two used your real names and not something else."
Chuck grabbed Sarah's hand again. "Yes, we got married and for the record it was after Sarah graduated from the program."
Beckman walked the room then stopped at the Eiffel Tower and the snow globe that Sarah went back for. She turned around looking at Chuck and Sarah who were still dumbfounded to why she was there and if this was all going to be over. Her lips made a slight curve, assuming that it was a smile she turned to face the newlyweds.
"Well, this wasn't the whole reason I came here."
Chuck and Sarah sighed deeply. "I have a new mission for you both and based on what I just heard it will be perfect." Chuck and Sarah looked at each other. "You will be based in LA and you will be working at the Buy More in Burbank." Chuck's eyes lit up. "Cool I worked there when I was in high school." Chuck continuing reminiscing and voice his appreciation. Then Beckman roared. "You won't be working there."
"What?"
"Actually, Sarah will be working there?" Sarah looking shocked. "Chuck, I know that you had previously worked there but I need you on something else. Sarah will be hired as the new Nerd Herder and will monitor the Buy More. We have chatter that our secrets maybe being leaked and it is coming from LA."
Sarcastically Chuck replied. "And they are using the Buy More?" Beckman gave him a stern look. "We are using the Buy More as home base. Sarah will head down with Major Casey and set up things there. We need someone to over see computer service, shipping, and the everyday events. We believe that whoever this threat is they will make their faces known."
"Well, that doesn't give us much?" "You're right Sarah, but we have to start somewhere."
Chuck looking at Beckman. "So, if Sarah is the new Nerd Herder, then what am I to do?"
"You are the newest employee of McHammond Logistics." Sarah looked at him. "That's great but what or who is McHammond Logistics." Chuck looked at her not too pleased. "It's an engineering company that actually does engineering work but at the same time is a front for the CIA. It was formed 10 years ago when DC needed eyes and ears on the west coast. They also assist the LA police department, LA Fire." Chuck wanting to finish his listing of places.
"Exactly, and that is where we need to be in the loop." Beckman adding.
"You think that these departments are corrupt?" Sarah facing Beckman.
"Maybe not all the departments but who they work with. Under the table dealings. That is why I wish to discuss this further this afternoon." Beckman started walking to the door. Chuck looked at her, contemplating what to say to her. "Excuse me General but couldn't this surprise visit have been done in your office?" Beckman turned around with that same curved lip look. "It could have but I wanted to see for myself."
"Are you going to report us?" Chuck looked at Sarah as he grabbed her arm. "Can she do that?" Chuck looked at her. "She sure can."
That Beckman lip curve turned into a huge smile. "If I was it would have been the day Sarah arrived; just be cautious having. As I said earlier, your personal life and your professional one can be tricky."
Beckman reached for the door as her bodyguards swarmed around her. "We will see you in my office at 14:00.
Beckman headed out as Chuck closed the door. He walked into the kitchen and sat down as Sarah looked at him. "Well, this is good news, isn't it? We have a mission. And you're moving back to LA."
"Yeah." Chuck preoccupied. Sarah started to make coffee. "What is a Nerd Herder?" This got Chuck's attention. "Sorry, they run the computers and electronic section of the Buy More."
"I know nothing about computers." Chuck looked at his wife. "Don't worry they won't be asking you for your computer advice." Sarah taken back by his comment. "And why not?"
"Have you looked at yourself lately."
"What about me?"
"Once you're wearing the uniform. Those guys will care less if you know the difference between a what a CPU is and what a HDMI cord is."
"What is a CPU?"
Chuck laughed. "Central Processing Unit. It's the main component of a computer that controls and processes instructions and data." He stood up and grabbed her. "You're going to be the sexiest Nerd Herder that the Buy More ever had." He kissed her softly then grabbed her robe. "You know we were rudely disrupted." Sarah smiled. "We were." Chuck gave her an eyebrow dance then raced her up stairs.
Chuck slipped his shirt off in the doorway and shimmied out of his sweats as he dove into the bed as Sarah held her arms open. She kissed him hard as he looked at the clock. "We have." Sarah grabbed his face. "We have plenty of time." Chuck met her lips kissing her and dragging his lips down her body. Sarah instantly got lost in what he was doing to her. She wrapped her legs around him as he nestled inside her neck. Moving as one, feeling emotions, their love making brought them back to where they needed to be.
Sarah slipped out of the shower after they had made love again. Sarah knew that Chuck was feeling better and that they were in a good place. Sarah grabbed a towel and wrapped herself in it as Chuck finally slipped out grabbing a towel and wrapping it around his waist. He kissed her shoulder making her shudder with his touch. He grabbed his toothbrush and together they brushed their teeth tandem style. Chuck added some product to his curls then finished getting ready as Sarah busied herself in the bathroom. He grabbed her suit and he grabbed his. They had a bite to eat then headed to the office.
Now that Beckman knew, they wondered who else knew. But as they walked in no one acknowledged them any differently. They walked in seeing Casey and he smiled when he saw the two of them. "Afternoon Mr. and Mrs." Sarah smiled.
"Afternoon Casey. I forgot to thank you for the concoction that helped with hangovers." Casey looked up at Chuck. "You gave her Bertha?"
"I did."
"Bertha?" Sarah looking at Casey.
"It's the name I gave the drink."
Sarah smiled. "Well Bertha did her job." Casey grunted which made Chuck and Sarah laugh. There smiles stopped when Beckman walked in. "Afternoon you three." "Afternoon General." They all replied.
Beckman got started. "Sarah and Casey will arrive in LA in the next few weeks. Chuck I will need you to look into a few people before you arrive, so when you continue with the mission we hope that certain people will have heard of you."
"So, what will Chuck be doing? I kind of get what I am to do but what will Chuck do?" Sarah squeezing his hand. "This can not leave this room. The room got serious. Our chatter has found that our Air Force especially our black opt fleets might be compromised. Most of our fleets have been contracted out to independent engineers that have been designing them and adjusted specifications and design. And then they sell or hand over what they've created. But we got word that a few have been rerouted or not delivered to their destination. A lot of these designs were developed to enhance our security systems but if they are being rerouted or delivered or the wrong people get our secrets, our national security is at risk. So, I want Chuck to start digging into our fleets etc. see who is developing and where these errors if there are any are coming from." Beckman shuffling papers. "Is it one particular system or is it individuals who are trying to make a quick buck." Chuck trying to absorb all that she said. "Do you think someone is selling our secrets?" Beckman looked at him. "I do. And whoever it is they have been getting away with it this long. Or our system is missing something. The Buy More will be I hope that place where whoever this person is they will need to get upgrades or service done on their system."
"And how would we do that?" Sarah wanting to know. "While you two are in LA, Chuck will sit down with our computer specialists and create a program that will tag onto any development of any fleet from our contractors. From there computers will develop a virus that will need to fixed at the Buy More. We will have an emergency number set up that when the virus kicks in there only option is to seek out help. Chuck will then take the laptops and search their files. Hopefully getting some intel. Once that happens the three of you will look into the owner of that laptop. And who they associate with. Sarah will be our eyes and ears in store while Casey will track from an adjacent building."
Casey, we found housing for you assuming that you don't want to live with Chuck and Sarah. "No ma'am."
"Chuck and Sarah, I have a few options as well." She slid a folder their direction. Beckman stood up. "Sarah and Casey, you will leave in two weeks and Chuck please come with me so you can meet your team." Chuck took the folder and gave Sarah a kiss. "See you later."
"Yes." Chuck leaned and motioned a kiss to Casey as he shoved his hand into his face. Chuck walked out the door. "I know you wanted one." Casey grunted.
Chuck sat down with his new team listening to what they had started looking into. They passed him their list of individuals or persons of interest. Chuck looked over the list seeing a few familiar names but a few new ones. He got busy looking into the list and which fleets would be a priority.
Sarah walked by her office as she was getting use to seeing her name on the door but this mission would allow her to be with Chuck and they could start their new life together. Despite being on a mission. She had lived in San Diego and visited LA a few times so she knew how to get around the city but computers were going to be challenging.
Sarah came downstairs seeing the folder of the list of houses that Beckman had given them, but she also saw the ones Chuck had added. She opened the folder seeing some beautiful places. There was an apartment near his sister's place which she found out and he crossed that one out. There was a huge mansion that Sarah like that overlooked the ocean; but the cost was horrendous. Then Sarah saw something red that caught her eye. It was a craftsman's style home with a red door and a white picket fence. The price was high but they could afford it. It was near major roads so they could come and go fast if they needed to. She ran her finger over the photo and smiled. She got lost in her thoughts not hearing Chuck walk in. He got a glimpse of the image and smiled. He reached for her hand, snapping her out of her thoughts. Sarah closed the folder. "Got to get to work." "Yeah, it's that time." Sarah kissed him then headed to the door. "Lunch? Supper?" Chuck looked up. "Text me and I'll meet you. Love you."
"Love you." Sarah walked out and drove off. Chuck grabbed the folder and looked for the phone number. He dialed. "Hi, it's Chuck Bartowski calling again. I would like to put an offer on the house. Yes, the same one. My wife will be arriving next week."
Chuck wrote and circled down some information. "No, I won't be able to join her but if we can have the keys ready for her that would be great."
Chuck continued to jot down info. "Same offer?" The realtor asked.
"Yes, same offer."
"Okay will have those papers sent to you by fax. Thank you."
"No thank you."
Chuck looked out the window making sure she wasn't lurking. He scrolled down his contacts and pressed sent. The line rang. "Hello? Mrs. Burton."
"I'm thinking if this is Chuck, he can call me mom or Emma."
"Okay? Emma it's Chuck. How are you?"
"Great and you?"
"Got a few days off so that's good. And Sarah."
"She's doing better. New job, new house new everything. Yes, she's not one to settle too fast."
"It's going to take her some time."
"Well, she doesn't have time to settle. We got a transfer to LA." Chuck pulling the phone away from the squeals. "When?"
"Sarah is moving there next week and I'll move down in a month or so." Emma still squealing.
Chuck waited for a lull in the conversation. "The reason I am calling is I bought a house for us and was wondering if we could get Sarah's things sent up there and moved in. Make the house hers, you know."
"That would be a wonderful idea."
"I'm assuming her stuff is in storage?"
"Most of it yes but I have some stuff here as well."
"Okay I will get a truck to you and have her stuff moved to LA. You're more than welcomed to come and be there when she arrives?"
"I might."
"Super."
Emma had to ask. "Chuck, how is she doing really? She has called but I think she's trying not to worry me."
Chuck went silent, then spoke. "She felt that things were going too fast, and I don't blame her. Not only with work but with us. How we met then her training and figuring us out then the fast wedding. It added up. We had a good talk and things are going smoother but not this move and starting her assignment might be a lot but she is a strong woman."
"She is."
"She must get it from her mother."
"I like you Chuck and I can't wait to meet you in person. Thanks for being there for my girl."
"It's my pleasure. I better get to work or the boss I mean the wife will be wondering where I am. I will send you the address and we can talk about getting a moving truck there."
"Sounds good Chuck. Take care."
"You too." Chuck hung up and grabbed his jacket and left.
Less than 48 hours till LA
Sarah headed out to grab a few things seeing Chuck going for a run. They had talked but never got around to finalizing things in DC. She still didn't know where she was moving to but Chuck reassured her that it was all taken care of. Adding that he'd be there in a month, and he was sticking to it. She drove down the street then stopped. She could do her errands when she arrived in LA one less thing to carry with her. Time with Chuck was running out. She turned around and sped back up the hill. She pulled into the driveway getting out seeing Chuck come up over the hill. She stood waiting for him and his smile when he ran up to her melted her heart. He slipped his ear buds out and walked over. "I thought you were going shopping."
"It can wait, but this can't." She grabbed him kissing him hard. He broke the kiss. "I'm sweaty."
"I don't care." He kissed her again. Then grabbed her hand and walked inside. The couch was the closest. Sarah slipped her top off easing out of her jeans as Chuck slipped his sweatshirt off and his t shirt. He watched as she laid down on the couch. Her arms wide open. He leaned over her as she untied his sweats. She kissed his lips as they became one. Nothing was said, nothing was needed to be said.
Sarah leaned back against Chucks chest. He wrapped his arms around her. Kissing the back of her head. "Love you." Sarah held his arms close to her. "Love you too." "Well, that was exciting."
"Well, I guess you got an extra work out in."
"Looks like it." As Sarah tilted her head back waiting for him to kiss her. Chuck played with her fingers in hers as they made small talk and made out. Chuck broke his hold of her and grabbed a blanket wrapping around his hips. Much to Sarah's dismay. He grabbed a few logs and started a fire. She watched her man heat the room hopefully taking care of the chill she felt. He walked past her as she tried to grab the blanket almost grabbing it catching a quick glance of his back side. He shook his finger as he slipped to the kitchen. "Want anything?" Sarah hollered back. "You."
"Well besides this manly man of yours. Something to eat, drink?" Sarah leaned back against the couch looking around the living room. She had only been living here for a short time but Chuck made it a home. He came back with his arms full of items. Sarah grabbed the two beers as Chuck sat down beside her.
Sarah pushed the wrappers away and placed the empty beer bottles on the table. She straddled his legs looking at her. "I'm going to miss this."
"What the fine dining, the fire, this room."
"You."
"I'm joining you."
"I know but not for awhile and this place I have no idea what it is or what it looks like." Chuck kissed her. "Trust me. You have nothing to worry about." He wiped her tears. "You are going to be the bestest Nerd Herder there ever was. You got this."
Sarah packed her last bag to take with her as she left the rest for Chuck to have shipped out. Chuck made arrangements for their stuff to be flown out to LA then a delivery truck would deliver it to the house later in the afternoon. They were able to piggyback on another shipment going to LA so it was going to be a fast turnover. Beckman loaned Casey and Sarah the jet so they were able to take a bit more personal items with them. Chuck loaded Sarah's things into the back as he came around the front. Casey slipped inside giving them some time. "End of the month." He held her close. "Call me when, you arrive."
"I will."
"Love you."
"Love you too."
Sarah sat down as Casey directed the crew in how to pack a plane. She had only their personal items in suitcases and their wedding outfits along, the rest was going into another plane leaving the rest and whatever Chuck would bring with him. She wondered if she had taken too much. She didn't leave him much. But he never said anything either. She hoped that this move was a good thing. She'd be closer to her mom and he'd be closer to his sister. She sat back hearing the plane start up. She closed her eyes briefly thinking about what was to come. Casey entered the plane tossing his bag and finding a seat. "I guess we are off to the west coast. Kind of feeling a little pasty."
Sarah laughed.
"You must be happy to be heading home?"
Sarah looked at him. "Yes, it will be good to see my mom, she's the only one that knows what I do for a living. Chuck I'm not so sure."
Casey sat down. "That is something you need to talk to him about. He was happy in DC, not to say that he will be happy again back in LA where he grew up but, things are different now."
Sarah wondering what Casey meant. "Was it that bad?"
Casey smiled. "You have nothing to worry about. You two will be happy no matter where you are or where you live."
The pilot came on as Sarah buckled up.
LA
Casey liked the perks of this mission as he got his dream car. Sarah stepped off the plane seeing a 1985 Ford Crown Victoria. She looked up and wondered how old he really was. 'But a car was a car, right?' Sarah thought to herself. Casey loaded their bags as Sarah got a first glance of the interior. It was no regular car. It looked like it had been modified including a prisoner containment area in the back seat and the dashboard showed a state of art GPS tracking system. Casey closed the trunk and slipped into the driver's side. He typed in an address that Sarah had no idea where it was. He smiled when he saw her trying to figure out where they were driving too.
Casey drove away from the airport as they reached the highway. They drove for an hour when Casey turned off into a residential area where Sarah saw a lake in the middle of the neighbourhood named Toluca Lake. Sarah continued to sit up seeing a row of old looking houses. She saw the name of the street, Warner Blvd. Casey slowed down looking at the numbers, 4253, 4251, 4249, 4247. He drove into the driveway as Sarah's eyes lit up. There on the sidewalk was a light post, white picket fence and the house with the red door. Sarah got out as Casey shut the car off. Sarah turned to face Casey. "He didn't."
"Okay he didn't."
Sarah walked up to the front door. "She told Chuck that the key was in the mailbox."
Sarah opened the mailbox and just the sound made her squeal. She found the keys and nervously found the right one to open the door. Casey took a photo and sent it to Chuck.
Sarah quickly walked the house as empty as it was, her eyes painted a perfect scene of what the rooms were going to look like. She finally made her way outside when she heard Casey talking to someone. She assumed that it was the movers. She stepped out onto the front porch and she stared. It was not the movers but there standing, talking to Casey was her mom. Emma looked up towards the house as Sarah nervously stepped down. "Mom!"
"Sarah."
Sarah ran towards her mom and fell into her arms. Emma had not seen her daughter for almost a year but now she was given the chance to see her now. Emma continued to hold her daughter as Sarah tried to comprehend what was happening. "How?" Sarah starting to cry.
"You can thank your husband for this." Sarah wiped a tear away. "He called me when he bought this and asked for some of your stuff and if I would be here when you arrived." Sarah crying. "He didn't want you to be alone."
Sarah faced her mom. "He did this?"
Emma now crying. "He did, all of this." Sarah looked at the house with much more appreciation for it and another reason why she loved him. He always was thinking of others. Sarah looked at Casey. "You knew about this?"
Casey grunted. "Most of it."
"Thank you."
"My pleasure. When your family."
Emma smiled at Casey.
Casey looked at his watch. "The movers should be here within the hour. I'll unpack the car while you two catch up."
Sarah sat down on the porch step as Emma sat down. Sarah wiping her tears. "He bought this house; how did he know that this was the one?"
Emma grabbed her daughters hand. "He knew, somehow, he knew. This was your dream house."
"It was but I never told him that. It was just a small listing in a pile of other houses, which would have been a better choice for him."
"He didn't pick it for him, he picked it for you."
They chatted for a bit when she stood up. "I have to call him; I forgot to call him."
Sarah walked to the middle of the yard and pulled out her phone and dialed.
Chuck sat at his desk looking over names and contracts when his phone rang.
"Hello, Chuck here." Like he didn't know who it was. "We arrived." As he stared at the photo that Casey sent him.
"And?"
"I could kiss you."
"Well, that's good."
"Why didn't you tell me."
"Tell you what?"
"That you bought the house with the red door?"
"I did, are your sure?"
"And to have my mom here."
"She arrived?"
"Yeah."
"She told me you called her."
"Well, your husband does have a few tricks up his sleeve."
"You like it."
"It's perfect."
"And the truck?"
"They called and should be here latertoday."
"I wished that I could have seen your face."
"I'm surprised that you didn't hear me scream. Casey drove me here and said nothing and when I saw the for sale sign and the red door, I was pretty happy. Then shortly after that my mom drives up."
"Well, I didn't want you to be alone." Sarah started to cry again.
Chuck could hear her starting to cry. "Babe its' okay."
"I know."
"I wished that I was there with you."
"Me too."
"Soon."
"I know."
"So, what are you going to do first?"
"Well, I walked the house already well I haven't been upstairs yet. My mom is unpacking some of the boxes she brought with her."
"Well, that's good."
"We didn't leave you much."
"That's okay, haven't been home long enough to use anything."
"So how is the research going?"
"It's going. Just looking at names and contracts. Nothing to sink my teeth into. So, when do you start at the Buy More?"
"TomorrowI go for an orientation and tour."
"Sounds like fun." Chuck laughed. "And your mom how is she?"
"Happier that I am closer."
"I bet."
"She's waiting to meet you."
"Me too. I think she's going to stick around for a week or so at least till some of the boxes are unpacked." Sarah wanted to ask Chuck about what Casey said about moving here but when she was about to ask him Chuck interrupted her. "Babe sorry to cut this short but I got to go."
"Oh yes. Miss you, love you."
"Miss you, love you too. Say hi to your mom. And enjoy your first day as a Nerd Herder."
Sarah hung up but saw a text. 'Order supper from Spyro, they have the best pizza and SANTORINI. Chuck gave her the number.
Casey dropped her off at the doors of the Buy More and the smell of plastic and electronics waffled through her nose. The colours of green and yellow were a bit overwhelming. She walked through the second set of doors towards the big sign that said Nerd Herder. A long haired East Indian and a rougher looking man that reminder her of a sheep dog greeted her. "Hi, my name is Sarah Walker and I am the newest Nerd Herder." The shorter man, the East Indian looked her up and down. She could feel his eyes on her. Then a voice from somewhere bellowed. "Lester send her to my office." Lester smiled then pointed she assumed to where the voice was coming from. Sarah turned on her heels. "We will talk soon my blonde goddess." Chuck had warned me about Lester and Jeff and was surprised that they were still working there. Sarah walked up to the managers office with the name Big Mike written on it. He walked around his desk extending his hand. "Micheal."
"Sarah Walker."
"Nice to meet you."
"Nice to finally meet you too."
"Please have a seat." Sarah sat down looking around the office. Micheal pulled out a folder. Then looked up. "When Buy More corporate called and told me that they had hired a new Nerd Herder I was surprised but you don't argue with corporate." Sarah smiled. She knew who corporate really was.
"This Buy More is considered number one in the LA Burbank area."
"Congrats." Big Mike grinned. He leaned over the best he could for his shape and grabbed her what looked like a uniform, name tag and manuals. "Here is your uniform. Sorry for the style but we can exchange it if needed." Sarah looked at the uniform it wasn't much. White dress shirt short sleeves and a really short skirt and black tie. Big Mike got up and Sarah followed. He took her on a tour and they came up to a wall of employees of the month that dated back ten years. There on the wall was her handsome husband. Her heart missed him and seeing his picture just added to how much she missed him. Big Mike addressed the wall. "Yes, this is our wall of fame. Present and former employees. This one." As he pointed to Chucks photo. "One of our best employees. He worked here when he was going to high school as a green shirt then moved up into the Nerd Herder when he was in University. He went to Stanford."
"Did he?"
"Yes, and now he works I think in DC. Some type of engineer."
"Has he been back to visit?"
"Not really but his sister still lives here. I think he's been gone like 5 years." Sarah did the math. So, he has been a CIA agent for almost 5 years.
They ended up in the staff lounge where Sarah was given a locker. "I'll leave you to get settled. You can wear the uniformtomorrow." Sarah watched Big Mike walk down the hall, then grabbing the manual. In seconds she was surrounded by the two men from the Nerd Herder desk and a bearded man whose name she recognized. His name tag red Morgan. Sarah thought to herself, this must be Chuck's best friend Morgan. The three were like the three stooges all trying to sit next to her. Climbing over each other. Sarah smiled. Once they got settled Lester extended his hand. "Welcome. My name is Lester Patal and this is Morgan Grimes and Jeffery Barnes."
"Sarah Walker."
"We just wanted to welcome you and if you need anything." Lester moved in. "Anything don't hesitate to ask."
Sarah smiled. "I would like a cup of coffee." The three all fell out of their seats and raced to the coffee machine. Slipping and sliding trying to look cool. Morgan grabbed a cup. Then poured a cup bringing her cream and sugar. Morgan placed the cup down on the table. "Thanks." Sarah looked up. "I'm just going to sit here and look over this pile. So, there's no need for you gentlemen to stay." It took them while to comprehend but eventually after Sarah asked them to leave, did they get the message.
She looked at her manual and sipped her coffee wishing she was in DC.
Sarah made her way downstairs wearing her uniform. Emma looked up. "Well, that doesn't cover much."
"That's what Chuck said. He said that most won't worry about whether I know anything about computers wearing an outfit like this."
"Well, he's right." Sarah took a picture and sent it to her husband. Seconds later her phone rang. "Oh, my word. Don't you look hot." Luckily, Sarah didn't have her phone on speaker. "You like."
"What's not to like. Every teenager fantasy is coming back to me."
"Oh really."
"Well, I guess we might have to make that happen." Sarah laughed at the silence. "You're killing me here."
"Miss you too."
"Everything else, okay?"
"So far, didn't get much unpacked last night."
"There's no rush."
"Was thinking that you could convert the garage into the office. Walking the house yesterday to see where to put stuff and what we might have to buy and there isn't a whole lot of space inside the house."
"We can do that." Chuck continued to listen knowing she was avoiding heading to work. "So, is Casey driving you?"
"He is. Might have to get my own car."
"You can put in a request."
"I can?"
"Yeah you can. If your job has you travelling, they wouldn't expect you to take the bus. I'll send you the request form."
"Got to go Chuck, Casey is here."
"Okay have a good day, love you."
"Love you."
Sarah stood behind the Nerd Herder desk. She tried to familiarize herself what was behind the desk. She found toolboxes that housed Quick tools for fixing small jobs, chargers, your basic office supplies. She continued to look around finding to her surprise a binder that was huge, it was a four inch binder. She turned it over seeing a comic type character in a Nerd Herder outfit. The binder was entitled 'All you need to know to be a Nerd Herder by C.I.B.' Sarah dragged her fingers across the binder's cover. She heard a slight cough, she looked up seeing Morgan. "Good morning."
"Good morning, Morgan."
"Oh yes, the binder. Made by the bestest Buy More employee ever. My best friend Chuck." Just hearing his name sent goosebumps through her system. She listened as he talked about her husband, his best friend. Everything he said she had experienced it firsthand. And all the sexy stuff on top of that. Morgan walked off to help a customer as she grabbed a stool and sat down looking at the binder. He had thought of everything. Almost like he knew one day someone like her would be working here. She barely got through the first two sections when she got a call from Casey. She got up and headed outside. Slipping cross the street to a post office box depot. She was still on the phone talking to Casey. "Go to the far wall. Beside the shelf there is a corner area. You will find a door that says mechanical on it with a keypad. Code #63875 once you're inside there will be a retinal scanner. Just follow the stairs."
Sarah closed her phone entering the code then seeing the eye scanner. She watched the door close then the other one opened up. She saw the stairs and followed them down where she saw Casey sorting files. Sarah looked around. "Pretty decent digs."
"I agree not bad. So, what is this place?"
"Back in the day this was a sub station for the transit system but was closed and the Government took it over. This area is closed off from the rest of the substation but there several access points that I will show you if ever there is a breech." Casey handed over a piece of paper. "This was sent from Beckman." Sarah picked up the paper. It was her work hours that she'd set up with the Buy More. "Make sense, I guess."
"I'm figuring she wants you to be available at various times. So, if you're not there you're here."
Casey took her on tour but the tour was cut short when Casey showed her the screens that were set on the Buy More. The Nerd herders were looking for Sarah. "Your minions are looking for you." Sarah tried to see the humour in what he said.
DC
Chuck packed his findings and locked them up in a secured locked box. He signed for them and waited as they were transferred onto a flight to LA. He was trying to close up as many cases as he could before he left. He headed home and looked around as most of the big items were sent to LA. Beds, couch, chairs, office desk, the rest were things that were there when he bought the place. He looked at the items he still had to take then he looked at his truck. His car was given to him when he arrived but the truck was something he bought with his own money and he couldn't see it stay here. And if he came back, he would have a car to drive and a place to stay.
Sarah said goodbye to her mom who stayed with her for two weeks. Two weeks the were long overdue. They laughed and they cried. But Sarah was so thankful for this opportunity and she had to thank Chuck for setting this up. She looked at the calendar. Less than two weeks she would see him and she could hardly wait.
Sarah grabbed some coffee from the coffee cart outside the food court and walked across the parking lot. She entered the post office box outlet and waited till she was alone slipping through the mechanical door. Heading downstairs she walked the area taking note of where things were.
Sarah chuckled to herself at where she was and where she was a year ago. She was dodging Langston and avoiding making the decision to either take his deal or risk the chance of going to jail like her dad. She didn't think that flinging a knife at a map on her wall would have made such an impact on her life. And now she was an Agent for the CIA, met a wonderful man and now was a married woman. She was glad that she had landed on Athens. Her walk had her back at the main area where she sat down looking at the pile that Casey was sorting the other day. He made a few piles so she grabbed the nearest one and started reading. She made notes of possible angles she thought might be connections to what she was reading and if she was far off so be it. She was still learning the ropes and what she had experienced with the Gaez, Budapest and Paris missions this was going to be the easy part. She grabbed her laptop and found a radio station that seemed okay. Plus, it would drown out the whirling and beeping of the computers around her. She hummed to a few as she read some of the files then stopped when a familiar song came on. She was transported to their wedding night and their first dance. And she could still hear Chuck singing the words to her. Her heart ached. Less than two weeks but still she missed him. She looked at the clock and it was past six there. She grabbed her phone and called the office. It rang and she was about to leave a message. When a voice answered. "Hello, my sexy wife. Miss me?"
"More than you know." Chuck walked around the desk and sat down. "I was tossing some papers out so that is why I almost missed your call."
"How are you?"
"Okay?"
"Just, okay? Wish you were here."
"Me too, just a few more days."
"No 15 days, 10 hours and 8 minutes."
"Really?"
"Well almost." Chuck laughed. "Soon babe soon. And this conversation will be in person."
"Can't wait."
"Me either. Are you getting packed?"
"I guess." As Chuck looked around his office. "Not a fan of someone using this while I am out there."
'Did Chuck not want to stay in LA? ' Sarah wondered.
"It's just a pain to move my stuff out of here. Whether I come back here or not. Plus, the stuff at the house? At least someone is going to be staying there. Beckman made arrangements for one of the instructors from the program to stay here. He would stay in the spare room."
"Well at least you don't have to sell it."
"No not ready to sell. Plus, I have Fitzroy in charge of house maintenance so if anything goes wrong, he's in charge."
"Fitzroy's such a sweet little man." They both laugh. They, talked for an hour then said goodbye.
Chuck passed the spare keys to Fitzroy as he drove off staring at his home that he had for almost six years. He should have been on a plane but plans had changed. He made sure everything was tied down. He planned to drive till dark and stop if he had to. He drove south till he reach Route 66 just shy of Kentucky knowing that it was straight west to LA.
He stopped outside Barstow and grabbed a shower and some gas. He packed his razor so his three day growth would have to wait a few more hours to be shaved but maybe his wife might like the new look.
He drove down Burbank seeing the Buy More sign bringing several memories to light. His first day working there after Ellie vouched for him only being 13. Then when he had the summer off from University. He was on scholarship but the added cash helped Ellie pay the bills and find a place to live with her boyfriend Devon. And what was left over was put into good investments that paid off when the spy thing was slow.
He parked and took a deep breath. He felt nervous, his hands clammy his heart racing. He walked towards the sliding doors looking for her. He passed the service desk and a voice he knew could only be the bearded one. Morgan leapt out of the pit md into the arms of Chuck. "Chuck."
"Hey buddy." Morgan finally stood trying to be cool. "Good to see you."
"Good to see you too. What brings you here?" Chuck couldn't tell him that he was here to see his wife. "To see you of course."
"You back for a visit or."
"No buddy here for work." As he scans the store. "Cool man. Chuck, you have to meet someone. I mean Bo Derek, Vicky Vale, all rolled into one." Morgan looked up and grabbed Chuck's arm. "Chuck, I want you to meet Sarah Walker." Sarah turned around hearing her name. "Sarah Walker, I want you to meet my best friend, Chuck Bartowski." The two were thrown together facing each other. Each staring in anticipation of what they wanted to do to each other. Their looks were identical to how they looked at each other the day Sarah arrived for registration day. They both nervously smiled trying not to act on what the play was going to be. Plus, they never talked about what the plan was between the two of them. Sarah extended her hand. "Chuck." As Chuck slid his hand into hers. Feeling her hand on his. Circling her hand with his thumb. "Yes Chuck. Nice to meet you." Slight pause. "Sarah." Still holding onto her hand as Morgan thinks he's done some magical match making mission here. Sarah spoke again. Her voice tender and soft. "I didn't think people still named their children Chuck for that matter." Chuck smiled. "My parents were sadists and Morgan here was found at the circus." The three laughed. "Well, it was nice to me you Chuck." As she let go of his hand and approached him. "Excuse me as I have (emphasis on the have) inventory to do in the back." Sarah brushed her hand across his arm as Morgan began to get giddy. Chuck watched her and the picture he saw of her in her uniform was not even close to how sexy she looked. Morgan turned to face Chuck poking him. "So, what do you think? We think she's single. Started working here about a month ago." Morgan continued giving Chuck Sarah's stats. Unbeknownst to Morgan. He was working towards his Masters in the art and science of one Sarah Walker Bartowski. Chuck nodded then clasped his hands together. "Hey Morgan. I'm going to the bathroom then maybe tour the place."
"Sounds good." A customer caught Morgan's attention. Making Chuck free to head to the back. He knew where to go and took a quick glance behind him making sure he wasn't going to be caught. He turned the doorknob not making a sound. He slipped inside stealthily seeing his wife leaning against the counter. He ached for her, he craved her, he missed her. He locked the door and moved in behind her. His body touching hers. Her response equally reacting as much as Chuck's was. He pressed his face into her hair smelling the vanilla smell he had missed, giving the back of her head a kiss. He slid his hand down her hips grabbing the hem of her skirt. He slid his hand up, turning her around. "No underwear?" She looked at him hungrily. "Saving some time." Chuck smiled then added his eyebrow dance. Their lips met with such fury as Sarah frantically tried to get his clothes off. Chuck continued to kiss his wife. Long overdue kisses long and short kisses that they hoped would make up for the time apart. Sarah slid Chuck's shirt off feeling his chest. Making sure that this was real. Chuck placed kisses over her body planning to please her but she grabbed his face. "No more wasting time." She wrapped her legs around him bringing him close. He smiled at her as their long awaited time apart was closed. Chuck held Sarah close as they moved as one. Boxes flying and paper tossed onto the floor as they choreographed their bodies. It brought back memories of their time in the library, the rawness, the hunger, the love. Sarah placed her hands flat on Chucks back as she kept him close. She listened to him as he whispered into her ear. Words she missed hearing him say. Feeling his warm breath on hers, his lips his everything. He opened his eye staring at her looking into her soul. "Love you."
"Love you." As he held her close, catching their breaths. He brushed her hair back and stared at her. "You're so beautiful." She dragged her finger down his chest. "You're not bad either." He leaned in and kissed her softly.
Chuck slowly let her go and stood back pulling at his clothes. Still smiling. He sat down looking at her as she pulled out her panties and showed him. Chuck smiled. She slid them on then pulled down her skirt. Chuck held his arm open as she walked over and sat in his lap. Chuck wrapped his arms around her. Sarah laid her head on his chest. "Why didn't you tell me you landed."
"I didn't fly." Sarah looked at him. "I drove. I didn't want to leave my truck." Sarah sat up. "You drove?"
"I did." Her facial response said it all but he was there and that was all that mattered.
"I better get back to work." She stood up and came back. "Here is the house key. I'm assuming that you're heading there?"
"Soon, I was going by the hospital to go see my sister."
"That sounds good." Sarah saw the light kind of flicker out of his face when his sister was mentioned. She just smiled as she didn't want to ruin what just happened. She got up and finished getting dressed then watched Chuck button his shirt then headed to the door. She kissed him once more as he returned the kiss. "I'm glad you're here."
"Me too. Talk to you later."
Chuck slipped out heading back into the main store when Morgan found him. Chuck didn't know how long he was with Sarah but Morgan never asked where he was. Chuck was about to leave the store when he heard someone say his name. When he turned to face the voice, he saw her. And flashes of what they just did came back to him. She walked towards him like nothing happened. He gave her a look wondering what she wanted. She smiled and whispered. "Just follow my lead." Chuck nodded. She grabbed his hand and started writing her number. He looked at her. "I have your number."
"Yes, you do but they don't know that." Chuck looked up to see Jeff Lester and Morgan staring at them. She released his hand. Then motioned with her hand like she was using a phone. "Called me." Chuck smiled as she walked off. The three ran towards him. Grabbing his hand but he quickly pulled it back. Morgan grinning. "You going to call her?" He looked up. "I might." Sarah looked up giving him a wink.
Chuck sat in his truck smiling at what had happened and finally seeing Sarah. It was like old times which he wished were still happening. Not that he didn't like how things were going and they seemed to be finally on the same page. It was the reason he left years ago. His job and what it entailed, now he wondered if his alias was going to be blown. His job, and moving was done to keep them separate at least for his sister's sake. He had called her after he had bought the house and after the squealing subsided. She had him moved in the spare room like old times which were fine but he couldn't keep her safe by living there plus he had Sarah. He told her that he had found an Airbnb near the lake which was close enough to Echo Park.
He drove to Westside Medical and parked heading inside to the third floor. It wasn't the ideal reunion setting but she said she'd make time. He walked the hall to the desk when a voice he knew called out to him. "Well, isn't this my little brother. Finally decided to come home." But as Chuck turned around her comment was far from being accurate. His hair was longer than she remembered and he stood with more confidence. He smiled and that seemed to be the only thing that was the same about him. They hugged for a long time, till Chuck needed to breathe. Ellie with hesitation let go of her little brother. She placed her hand on either side of his upper arms taking a good look, making sure this version of her brother got her approval. She hugged him again then they headed to the cafeteria. Like old times when Chuck would stop by the hospital at night and study while she finished her shift so she wouldn't have to walk home alone. Or when she had to work nights, she made arrangements for him to stay at the hospital in one of the lounges, till he was old enough to stay at home by himself and her after she had met Devon.
Ellie still smiling. Chuck could tell that his sister was happy that he was home. So, he couldn't ruin it for her. "So how have you been?"
"Good, busy, work has kept me busy."
"There's still a need for Forensic Science in DC?"
"Always. Just like there is a need for Neuroscience here. While you do the brain stuff I do the structure stuff." Chuck bit into his sandwich. He didn't realize how hungry he was.
Chuck could tell that his sister wanted his address but he had to find a way to tell her about Sarah. If she knew that they were married she would be upset and hurt that she wasn't invited. He slipped his hand into his jacket and pulled out a flat box. He handed it over. "Saw this in Paris at Christmas and was going to mail it but now I don't have to." Ellie opened it to find a crystal with gold silhouette of the Eiffel Tower. Ellie started to tear up. "It's perfect thankyou. You had a good time?" Chuck took a sip of his coffee. "It was. But it was good to come back home." "So, what did you do with your place there?"
"I have it rented out. Not quite ready to give it up. Probably spend the summers there and the winters here."
" Not sure if your new job will allow that." Chuck chuckled. "Probably not."
He walked her back to the third floor and gave her a hug. "I better go and get settled."
"When do you start?"
"Monday."
"Well, that gives you a few days."
"Yeah."
"Well don't be a stranger." Chuck started to head to the elevators. "Chuck!"
Chuck turned around. "Yeah."
"I'm glad you're home." Chuck smiled then pressed the button.
Chuck grabbed a few items from the grocery store and headed to the house. He drove up seeing it in person for the first time and was glad he went with this house. It was so them. He backed in just shy of the garage. He took her key and unlocked the back door. They definitely needed to buy furniture. He saw the couch against the front window and the table with four chairs. She was busy.
He walked the house seeing that the bed he sent was in the spare room. She probably gave her mom the bed. He laughed when he came to the master. There on the floor was a queen size air mattress.
He started unpacking the back of the truck. It was mostly office items and miscellaneous furniture. He opened the garage. And slipped those items inside. It was definitely too small for a car but it had an upstairs which they could turn into a suite and the downstairs an office. They needed a contingency plan which included a place to store their spy gear. He texted Casey. "Arrived. Will need to build a spy storage unit." Casey texted back. "Already ordered it."
"You are awesome."
"I figured that something would be needed."
"Thanks."
"Have you seen the wife?"
"Yes, I saw Sarah and my sister."
"Good boy." Chuck laughed.
Chuck walked to the front seeing a cab pull up and seeing Sarah stepping out. He smiled. "I could have picked you up."
"I know but I didn't know when I would be done. Micheal told me that I could leave. So, I did." Chuck reached for her hand and brought her close. He kissed her. "How was your visit with your sister?"
"Good." In between kisses.
They walked inside as Sarah held onto his hand taking him upstairs. "Okay." They stopped at their door. Chuck smiled. "I like the bed."
"Well, I didn't want my mom to sleep on the mattress because that was all I had."
"I figured."
"So, I took the mattress. Most nights I slept on the couch." She put her phone down on the nightstand as she started to unbutton his shirt this time Chuck smiled. "Was this your plan?"
"No but when I saw you, I figured we needed to finish what we started earlier. Unless you want to do something else?" Chuck shook his head as she tossed his shirt. He met her lips as he unbuttoned her shirt. She reached for her tie. He stopped her. "No please leave it on." Sarah blushed. "Another fantasy?"
"Yup." Chuck lowered his head to find her zipper on her skirt as he slowly drew out the process. Chuck shimmied out of his jeans as he followed her to the mattress. They bounced as they fell into it. "We definitely need to buy a bed."
"That can wait, this can't." Sarah pressed Chuck into the mattress as she straddle his hips. She wasn't wasting any time. Chuck sat up facing her. He was finally with her. He held her face close to his as they moved together.
Chuck rolled her onto her back as Chuck continued to love her. She needed him, wanted him, craved him and she moved with him, she was going to get all she could. He stopped abruptly when he heard his phone. Sarah pressed into his shoulders. "Don't you dare stop Bartowski."
"My phone."
"It can wait. This (pause) can't." Chuck resumed the task of pleasing her when her phone started to ring. She kept her legs wrapped around him not giving him an inch to move as she grabbed her phone. She saw who it was and figured he tried to call Chuck. Sarah answered trying not to give herself away that she was in the middle of having sex with her husband. "Hello (deep breath)."
"Walker need you two in Castle. Tried to catch you after your shift." Trying not to moan. "Oh sorry. We can be there later." Feeling deep sensations building as Chuck kept busy. "We'll be there as soon as we can. Okay (Sarah biting her lip)."
"Okay see you two in a bit." Sarah didn't say goodbye she just hung up and tossed her phone as she held onto Chuck as he brought them both to a long overdue high. Both their bodies went limp as they rode their high as they started to relax. Chuck kissed her neck placing kisses wherever he could. He kissed each breast making sure they got the attention they deserved. He stared at her. "Much better than earlier."
"Oh, much better." Sarah moaning slightly. He kissed her softly with a mixture of long and short passionate kisses. Sarah held him close not wanting this to end. "Chuck."
"Uhhuh." Get dressed. Chuck looked at her. "What?"
"The call."
"Yeah."
"We need to meet with Casey."
"Now?" As he looked at her naked body. She nodded as she touched his sweaty chest. "Yeah." Chuck rolled onto his back leaving Sarah slightly chilled. "Well not what I had in mind."
"Well, me neither at this exact moment." Sarah rested her head on his chest. Chuck wrapped his arms around her. "I guess the sooner we go the sooner we can come back here." Chuck went silent. She looked up at him. "I guess." He kissed the top of her head. And headed to the shower. She followed him to save time but took advantage of the situation. Chuck found some fresh clothes as Sarah grabbed some jeans and a t-shirt. Sarah jumped onto his back as they headed downstairs grabbing the keys. They locked up and Chuck piggybacked her to the truck. He snuck a kiss then got in. She hadn't been inside the truck before as they always drove the car. He looked at her. "Where to?" She told him and as he typed it in, he looked at her. "The Buy More?"
"Well close to it." Chuck drove out and headed back to the Buy More. Sarah sat back looking at the neighbourhood. "So how did you decide on this house?"
"I saw you looking at the pile and you seemed to linger on the one with the smaller photo. The others were perfect but this one was all you and me. Simple. Plus, I kind of liked the neighborhood. Morgan and I use to ride our bikes through here and hang out at the lake."
"There's actually a lake, right, or was I seeing things."
"Yeah, there's a small one." Chuck drove into the parking lot and Sarah pointed to where she wanted him to park. He looked around only seeing food establishments and a postal office pickup. Sarah jumped out and started walking towards the postal office. "Our national security is in also postal office. Why not Orange Orange next door? Or Large Mart." Sarah opened the door letting someone out as she waited for the room the be cleared. Chuck watched her as she stepped in front of the mechanical room using a key card. The door opened as the two stepped in. The room went dark then a facial scanner came down as Sarah looked into it then Chuck. The wall rotated then came to a stop and elevator type door opened up. Chuck looked at Sarah. "Cool." A stairwell lit up they headed down the stairs to a bunker type of room. Casey came round the corner seeing the two of them as he welcomed Chuck with bear hug. Sarah smiled. Chuck was dearly missed. "Sorry to call you nothing but Beckman wanted to see us. She'll log in 15." Chuck looked this watch. He leaned against the table and set the new time.
"Evening team. Chuck welcome to LA."
"Thanks." Sarah reaching for his hand. He grabbed it rubbing it with his thumb. "Casey, can you pass out the files please." Casey handed each of them a file. "These people are person of interest. I would like to start with them to see where they lead us. What is their involvement and who are they talking to. Sarah you will keep your eye open just I case one of these people enter the Buy More for computer support. Chuck when you start your job. We need intel on them as well."
"So General if we already have these names are they on contract with us."
"Either them or who they are connected with. Either way we need to make sure we have all possible angles covered."
"Yes General."
"We will meet in few days. Good night team."
Casey walked off leaving Sarah and Chuck. "I'm going to run these photos then we can go." Chuck started looking around. He was impressed with what he was seeing. How they converted an underground substation into a CIA base. Chuck found a lounge and sat down seeing Sarah was still scanning.
Sarah stacked her pile and looked around. There was no sign of Chuck. Casey walked past her. "You better take your husband home." He motioned for her to come. She walked to the lounge seeing him sleeping sitting up. She looked at her watch. Then realized how late it was as Chuck was still on DC time.
Sarah caressed his face waking him up. "Oh sorry."
"It's okay." He looked up. "Let's get you home." He smiled.
They entered the kitchen. "You hungry?" He nodded. She made them a sandwich as they sat down. "One good thing I don't worktomorrow, ortoday."
"Right." They took their last bite then headed upstairs.
Chuck crawled into bed too tired to do anything else. Sarah slid in beside him welcoming his arms being wrapped around her. They were happy to say good night like old times with their silly kisses and tender touches. Sarah turned the lights off and finally closed her eyes.
They drove to IKEA after sleeping till noon. They both needed it. They both needed to be just them, alone without anything to think about or talk about. Chuck grabbed a cart as Sarah walked beside him. Curling her arm in his. They were finally doing couple stuff, something they weren't able to do back in DC. Chuck had only been here for less than a day but life seemed quieter, slower. Something she wanted to have now she was allowed to experience it. Chuck laughed when she pulled out her list. It looked like it had been added to a few times. They needed a bed. So, when Chuck saw the beds, he went to investigate. He didn't care for those frames with the slats, he wanted a sturdy frame and a comfortable mattress. Sarah saw him bouncing on the mattresses that they had on display. He called Sarah over and the two laid down on. Sarah wanted to curl up to him and just lay there. It was so tempting. Feeling his body touch hers. She sat up trying not to make her thoughts go where they were wanting to go. She walked over to the next one as Chuck checked out the frame. He laid down, on the mattress and it was good but it was too short for his length. Sarah asked a worker if they could get it in a longer size. The worker went to check coming back with a yes. Chuck looked at Sarah. "Either one. But I like the second one." Sarah looked at the worker. "Can we get this one in an extended queen." They smiled and started the paperwork. Sarah saw Chuck laying down again. He looked tired but he was a good sport in coming with her.
They continued shopping buying sheets, paintings, artwork, lights and tables. Sarah also tossed a few lights inside as well. The rest of her list was to be picked up downstairs. Sarah got Chuck to find a bed spread. Hoping that he'd find one like he had in DC. Sarah walked the cart over seeing him come toward her with a light blue and white king size comforter. He looked at her. "Kinda like the colours. And looking at our room light and bright will work. But I also found curtains to block out the light. Trust me they will come in handy when you're in between jobs." Sarah snuck a kiss. They sat for lunch cause you can't not leave IKEA without eating those meatballs. Chuck grabbed a few bags and some Swedish cookies. They looked at their cart. It was full but it was also full of new memories. Chuck didn't have much to send her when she came so hopefully this would help.
Chuck backed the truck to the loading dock where the bed and its frame arrived. Chuck jumped into the truck bed and slid the mattress along side the edge of the truck. Then the frame and the boxes and everything else. The lights and bedding Sarah tossed into the back seat. Sarah closed the door and stopped when something caught her eye. It was a Porsche 918 Spider that had driven by. She watched it eyeing it almost drawn into it. Chuck noticed and stepped down. It was a nice car. "Is that the car?" Sarah turned around. "What?"
"Is that your car?" Sarah smiled. Chuck started walking towards the car. Sarah made a gesture but watched. Chuck waited till the driver came out. "Excuse me. Sorry to bother you but what kind of car is this. My wife over there is just fascinated with this car." Chuck looked over to where Sarah was standing. The driver impressed at the inquiry. "It's a Porsche 911 Turbo. Is she interested?"
"Very."
"Great. I just have to go in and grabbed a Grunka for my wife." Chuck looked at him. "It's a spatula. She could have said it's a spatula but no. I had to look it up." Chuck laughed. "But in the meantime, here's my card. I own the dealership and would love to sell her the car if she is interested."
"Great. Will pass this onto her. I look forward to hearing from you and your wife." He extended his hand. "Carlton."
"Nice to meet you. Chuck and my wife Sarah." Carlton waved at Sarah. Sarah waved back. Chuck walked back and gave her the card. "He owns the dealership. It's a Porsche 911 Turbo." Sarah still eyed the car as they drove out. "You can buy one you know. Have you checked your account?"
"No not really."
They got box home and unpacked laughing as they tried to get the mattress upstairs. After a few missed directions and pulls instead of pushes they got the mattress where the bed was supposed to go. Chuck pulled out the instructions. Sarah brought him a drink. "You know how I have been on some tough missions but these instructions take the cake." Chuck grabbed the glass as Sarah leaned against the wall facing Chuck as he half sat on the edge of the mattress sitting on his knees. They enjoyed their drinks then got back to work. Half hour later Chuck got the frame built and tossed the mattress onto the frame. Sarah with the sheets after running them through the wash.
The bed was made as Chuck started to clean up the plastics, extra nails etc. when he saw Sarah padding the bed. He smiled as he dropped what he was holding and crawled into the bed. He stopped halfway making sure it wasn't going to fall apart. When he reached Sarah, he fell into her arms. He rested his head on her chest as she wrapped her arms around her.
