Disclaimer: I don't Inuyasha.

Over the course of the next several weeks, Naraku went on with his life as if Inuyasha didn't exist. Naraku would leave his castle for extended periods of time, before coming back and only staying for a little while. However, whenever he was back and had summoned Kanna for the use of her mirror, he would order Kanna to keep her reports on Inuyasha to herself unless Inuyasha tried to escape–which Naraku didn't think the InuHanyou would attempt to do after what had happened a few weeks ago.

However, as his plans became more elaborate over the course of the weeks, Naraku decided to create another incarnation that was similar to Kanna to help him with one of the important aspects of his plan on finding the last shard of the jewel. He did this so Kanna wouldn't get confused and would only focus on her duty of attending to Inuyasha, instead of being everywhere that Naraku wanted her to be. Plus, making a new incarnation gave Naraku the space that he needed to not be reminded of his captive.

The incarnation that Naraku had created was named Utsuho. Utsuho looked similar to Kanna, but had dark blue hair and a pink flower in her hair.

Utsuho also had a similar personality to Kanna's, so Naraku knew that she would carry out her task of protecting his heart without fail. And so, Naraku dedicated his time into finding out about the location of one of the final shards of the Shikon jewel. However, to find the locations of the two jewels, Naraku sought the help of Mimisenri. Mimisenri, was an all-hearing wise demon who is aware of alot of secrets due to rumors, revealed that one of the last shards was apparently in the netherworld. With that information, Naraku then wondered how he should be able to safely enter the world of the dead and leave alive. He thought on this predicament for a while before coming up with the idea to send his incarnations to strike down powerful monks in order to peer into their souls to see how they go into the netherworld. Once he got the information that he needed, Naraku came up with two theories on how he would be able to enter the netherworld and leave alive.

To test out the most straightforward one, Naraku tasked his incarnations with the job to see if passing to the gates in the land of fire would allow one to enter and leave the netherworld as freely as they wished. His incarnations served him well by tricking Kouga and the InuHanyou's former companions into testing out the gates to the netherworld in the land of fire. However, they survived and Naraku saw how impossible it would be for him to use that way. So he decided to pursue the other way into the netherworld by enlisting the help of princess Abi and her mother Tekkei. These two female daiyoukais are directly from hell. They have the power to create a path with no problem. So Naraku made a deal with them that he would help them collect enough human blood to dilute the poison that Tekkei ate.

However, just as Naraku expected, the two daiyoukais betrayed him when they attacked the human castle where he had hidden his heart. So Naraku came up with a plan that would give him the path to the netherworld just as he wanted—whether or not the two bird daiyoukais wanted to help him. Naraku smirked as he planned to make his first strike against the bird daiyoukais tonight. And it wouldn't be long before Inuyasha's former companions and Kouga caught wind of what he did. After all, Naraku needed Kagome's power to locate the jewel shard in the netherworld. The way Naraku expected things to go, by tomorrow morning Tekkei would be quick to jump to a battle since he knew that she would be fully healed with all the human blood she consumed.

'Both princess Abi's and her mother's arrogance over their power as full-blooded daiyoukais will be their own downfall. A downfall that I will deeply enjoy to see. I would make my move right now, but Tekkei just healed. So it's only fair to let her enjoy the last few hours of her life before I end her existence.' Naraku chuckled darkly, as he entered a part of the forest where there was nothing but pitch darkness. It was as if he had entered another world—a forbidden world where there was no sign of life. Naraku walked for a bit, before he stopped by a body of water that glowed a light blue light. 'Now let's see what the others are up to.'

With a wave over the glowing water, Naraku summoned Utsuho's mirror to show him what his enemies were doing.

From the scene that was reflected upon the water, Kouga and Inuyasha's former companions seemed to go village to village to look for clues on where Princess Abi's nest was. 'Patience. You all will soon find what you're looking for by early tomorrow.' Naraku thought as he waved his hand over the water and the mirror image suddenly changed to Sesshomaru.

Sesshomaru and his companions were walking down the path of an abandoned and lifeless place. An area that reminded Naraku of his castle. 'KuKuKu… Still looking for Inuyasha, are you Sesshomaru?' Naraku smugly thought, knowing the reason why Sesshomaru would be in such a place, 'Look all you want Sesshomaru, you'll never find my castle nor your brother Inuyasha.'

Chuckling at the InuDaiYoukai's futile attempt, Narakupaused for a bit before deciding that now would be a good time for him to check on Inuyasha. Especially since after today, Naraku knew he wouldn't be able to do so until after his trip to the netherworld. And even after then, Naraku speculated that there would be a few things that would require his attention once he returned to the land of the living. 'Such as searching for the final shard of the Shikon jewel, which Mimisenri promised to reveal its location to me once I return from the netherworld.'

Besides, he was in a good mood and was quite curious to see what the InuHanyou was up to. So with a wave of his hand over the surface of the water, Utsuho's mirror disappeared and Kanna's face appeared.

"'Kanna," Naraku ordered, "Give me your reports on what Inuyasha has been up to during the past few weeks. Has he tried to escape?'

Kanna shook her head and relayed her reports.

"I see. So all has been well?" Naraku inquired, watching as Kanna nodded her head. "Let me see Inuyasha."

Suddenly, the scene on the water changed to a view of Inuyasha's room in Naraku's castle.

There Inuyasha was sitting on the floor, giggling as he played with Sekichou. Sekichou, loving the sound of his mother's laughter, clapped his hands as he giggled along with Inuyasha.

"Peek-a-boo," Inuyasha said in a gentle tone of his usually rough voice, as he used his hands to cover his face and removed them to reveal his face to Sekichou who thought that this was the greatest thing he had ever seen. "I see you!"

Sekichou did a little bounce with his bum as he bounced for joy. Then he clapped on the palms of Inuyasha's opened hands as he continued to giggle in happiness. Inuyasha gave his son a sweet smile that Naraku had never seen on him before.

"Looks like someone is having fun, aren't you Sei-Chan?" Inuyasha said in the same gentle tone as before. Sekichou made some baby babbling and cooing sounds in response and sounded like he was having a conversation with Inuyasha. Inuyasha just continued to smile and made sounds of agreement as if he was understanding what his son was saying to him. "I see."

Sekichou began to smack the floor with his hand each time he made an exciting sound as if he was glad that his mother understood what he was saying. Suddenly something else caught his attention. Naraku followed Sekichou's gaze to the view outside. The 'flowers in the trees' had bloomed beautifully and were swaying with the tree as the wind blew against it.

At this sight, Sekichou giggled and crawled towards the window for a bit, before deciding that it would be better to stand–as if it would help him get a better view of the beautiful trees outside. Inuyasha smiled that sweet smile once again adorned his face as he helped Sekichou stand on his two legs to get a better view of the outside. Inuyasha steadied Sekichou as the boy watched as the trees blew in the wind and a bird landed on the ledge of the window. Sekichou was so excited by the bird that he began to point at it and start cooing at it.

"Sei-Chan, that's a bird." Inuyasha said, as if he was answering a question that his son had asked. Sekichou repeated that sound just how Inuyasha had said it without pronouncing the word, "Gaa, Gaa."

Inuyasha picked up his son and brought him to sit on his lap. "Is that better now Sei-Chan?" The boy looked up at his mother and smiled, forgetting all about the bird that had captured his attention just a few moments ago. He then pointed at Inuyasha as if to ask for his name. Inuyasha knowing what Sekichou was trying to ask him said, "Pa-pa, my name is pa-pa Sei-Chan."

Sekichou made some babbling sounds that mimicked the sound that Inuyasha was making, but it was nowhere close to the words that Inuyasha was trying to get him to repeat. Inuyasha laughed a beautiful laugh, a sound that Naraku realized that he never heard from Inuyasha before. It was such a nice sound that it echoed about the dark forest.

Then for some reason, Inuyasha glanced towards the exact spot where the hidden mirror was in the room. Their eyes met, but Inuyasha couldn't see him. Naraku, on the other hand, felt as though he was a part of the scene with Inuyasha. And if that was true, Inuyasha's smile widened, and looked back to their son who continued to poorly pronounce the words, "Pa-pa," in his own way.

As if a spell had been cast on him, Naraku found himself crouching down, with one of his hands raised up to touch the surface of the water. However, once he caught himself, he lightly clenched his hand into a fist, but instead of bringing it back down to his sides, he opened it and touched the scene that was reflected in the water.

Despite the ripples that appeared, Naraku allowed himself to glide his fingers across the surface of the scene that was reflected in the water. Naraku had done this in a manner as if he was intrigued by his own actions.

'What is it about Inuyasha that causes these feelings to rise up inside of me?' Naraku thought to himself, as he continued to stare at the scene as if the scene would give him the answer. Strangely the longer he stared, the more he started to feel calm—almost as if he was at peace. 'Interesting.'

Suddenly, Sekichou looked as if his eyes were feeling heavy. He blinked once, he blinked twice before he yawned widely and laid on his mother's chest. Sekichou snuggled into the soft bosoms of his mother's chest before falling asleep. Inuyasha rubbed Sekichou's back in a comforting manner until he was sure the child was asleep.

Once he was sure, Inuyasha picked up Sekichou and placed him on the little mini futon that was across the room from Inuyasha's futon.

Once on the bed, Sekichou opened his eyes just a little, before snuggling on the soft futon and dozing right back to sleep.

Inuyasha stared at Sekichou for a few more moments before he looked back out the window. Even though the view was fake, the way the outside wind gently blew into the room onto Inuyasha was truly a sight to see.

Inuyasha sighed as if he enjoyed it. And the way the light from the outside reflected upon Inuyasha made the InuHanyou smile in contentment. It was as if he had momentarily forgotten where he was and the view from outside wasn't real.

Suddenly, it felt like Inuyasha and Naraku were together in the room and were the only ones in the world in that quiet moment. Naraku didn't even resist the feelings that he was experiencing at that moment, he just allowed them to come and go.

It was when Inuyasha made a sharp hissing sound, did Naraku feel like he was drawn back out of the moment.

Apparently, Inuyasha had moved his hand across the floor and now was bleeding from a splinter on his finger. Inuyasha stared at it, before removing it and wiping the blood onto his already red clothing. Inuyasha threw the splinter out the window and began to rub his hand across the wood floor. It was like he was looking for any more areas on the floor that would cause a person to get splinters. He found two more spots that would inflict damage upon an unsuspecting person who had the misfortune of coming upon them.

Once he found the three areas out of the entire room, Inuyasha removed the splinters from his hands and tossed them out of the window. Then he glanced over at his sleeping child, who was oblivious to Inuyasha's discovery.

Quietly and gently, Inuyasha moved his child's futon, away from the troubled spots of the small room, towards his bed. Inuyasha smiled as if he was proud of what he had done.

Inuyasha sat near his futon, closed his eyes, and went to sleep.

With a wave of his hand, Naraku disrupted the scene reflected on the water of the sleeping InuHanyou's face and used Kanna's mirror to summon Kagura.

It took a few minutes before Kagura's face reflected upon the water.

"What do you want, Naraku?" Kagura asked in an annoyed tone, "I had your Saimyōshō suddenly come to me and buzzed in my ear about how you needed to see me."

"Kagura, I have something that I want you to do for me." Naraku said, "I want you to go to a nearby village and pick up the best carpenter that you can find, and bring him to my castle. I need him to repair something for me."

Confused by her master's strange request, Kagura asked, "What? Bring a carpenter all the way over there? Why do you need a carpenter?"

"Just do what I tell you to do Kagura and don't ask any questions," Naraku said, as he narrowed his eyes in annoyance at her curiosity.

Pursing her lips, Kagura got up from where she was crouched down on her end of the water, "As you wish."

With a wave of his hand the reflection of the wind sorceress was replaced with the sleeping face of Inuyasha.

It wasn't long until the scene on the surface of the water was interrupted by Kanna and Kagura. Behind them was a carpenter who had a bag of tools with him.

Turning to his pale incarnation, Naraku said, "Kanna, send Inuyasha outside for a walk. It's not so often that he goes outside, so use it as an excuse to get him out of his room so the carpenter can come and fix the floor."

Hearing the conversation before her, Kagura said, "Naraku, am I hearing this right? You're fixing the floor for Inuyasha? Why the sudden attention to detail on his behalf?"

"Kagura," Naraku said, ignoring her question, "What I chose to do with my captive is none of your concern."

"Hmph," Kagura said," I was only curious at the sudden mood change, Naraku. Aren't you worried that Inuyasha might find out once he smells the carpenter's scent in his room in the end?"

"No. No, not at all. Whether or not Inuyasha smells the scent of the carpenter later is of no concern to me." Naraku simply stated, "Once Inuyasha leaves, go and lead the carpenter into the room."

"Whatever you say, Naraku, "Kagura said, with a hint of annoyance, as she turned around and left the room.

Turning over to his pale incarnation, Naraku said, "Kanna, go do as you're told." Watching as Kanna nodded and walked out of the room.

Naraku stared at the retreating form of the wind sorceress, before waving his hand over the water which changed the scene back to the face of Inuyasha who was dozing off in the calm and peaceful stillness of the room.

Hearing footsteps turn as they entered the hall that contained his room, Inuyasha's eyes opened as he glanced over at the door of his room. Since the footsteps were light, he suspected that it was Kanna who was approaching his room from the outside.

'But why?' Inuyasha wondered as he mentally took note of the time of day, 'It is not time for dinner and I already ate a while ago. What else could Kanna possibly need from me, unless Naraku sent her.'

At this thought, Inuyasha immediately straighten himself up as he glared at the closed door in suspicion and deep hatred. A look that didn't take Kanna by surprise when she slid open the door and was greeted with it.

"Inuyasha." Kanna simply said, giving the InuHanyou before her a blank look as she left the door behind her opened. "Master Naraku says that it is time for your walk."

"Oh does he?" Inuyasha replied as he continued giving the pale incarnation a blank stare, "Tell your master to go and fuck himself wherever he is cuz I ain't going."

"You're not coming?" Kanna asked, watching as the InuHanyou scoffed at her question. Then Kanna was met with just silence as Inuyasha turned his back towards her. "Why not?"

"Because it's Naraku." Inuyasha said, "There's no telling what he's got up his sleeves. And I would be a fool if I go."

"Inuyasha," Kanna said, "Master Naraku would like for you to go for the walk. He says that it would be good for the child."

"Kanna, you and I both know that Naraku does not give a damn about his son!" Inuyasha growled, "So don't you dare feed me that bullshit, especially after what happened last time."

Instead of taking the InuHanyou's 'No' as his answer, Kanna remained where she was and continued to stare at Inuyasha with those black soulless cold eyes.

At this, Inuyasha continued to glare at Kanna as the two stood in silence. It wasn't long before Inuyasha broke the silence,

"All I know is that in only to get me to obey him, Naraku is willing to risk the health and life of his son to achieve that goal," Inuyasha stated firmly, as he watched the pale incarnation before him. And as expected she remained still where she stood, staring upon Inuyasha with those soulless black eyes as she refused to take his No as an answer. "Kanna, tell me what does Naraku want from me?"

"All master Naraku wants is for you to take a walk." Kanna just simply stated, much to the annoyance of Inuyasha.

"No, I mean what is Naraku planning?" Inuyasha asked, finally turning around to look at the pale incarnation who remained where she stood. "What is Naraku planning that requires me to go outside?"

At this, Kanna remained just silent as she continued to return the InuHanyou's harsh glare with a cold, blank and empty stare. It remained like that between the two before Inuyasha sighed.

"If I want to know so badly, then why don't I just go along and see what will happen, right?" Inuyasha asked, watching as the pale incarnation nodded her head in reply. Inuyasha remained silent for a few moments before he bent down and scooped up his son–who was still sleeping–into his arms.

Once his son was properly settled in his arms, Inuyasha turned his attention back towards Kanna, nodded at her, and followed her out of the room. As Inuyasha walked the dim-lit corridor, he wondered about what the spider demon what with him.

'Is Naraku planning to take me somewhere? No, if he was, then Kagura would be taking me outside instead of Kanna.' Inuyasha thought as he immediately thought of what his enemy could be planning against him. 'But what if Kagura was already outside waiting to take me somewhere as part of Naraku's plan?'

Thinking on that thought some more, Inuyasha realized that as much as that thought seemed to be the case, it didn't make sense, 'Unless, he's still trying to tempt me into escaping so he can torture me.'

However, as soon as Inuyasha thought that the spider demon's words from a few days ago came to mind.

'..for the moment, I have decided to keep you alive for as long as I want….But rest assured Inuyasha, one day, I will kill you. You will die by my hands and I will relish the look of your eyes losing their light as your face grows pale. But until that day comes, you are mine.'

'Even though he said that that doesn't mean that he'll let me off the hook that easily.' Inuyasha thought, 'Knowing Naraku, he'll probably tempt me to escape at every chance possible at escaping, and once I fall for it, then he'll make me wish that he would kill me. Yeah, that's probably it since he's most likely still watching me.'

With that in mind, Inuyasha remained on guard the moment he stepped outside with Kanna. Once outside he immediately looked for the wind sorceress that he had expected to be somewhere around the area. However, no matter how much Inuyasha looked, he couldn't find Kagura. 'That's strange…' Inuyasha thought as a look of confusion came upon his face, 'Then maybe Naraku is trying to use Kan–'

"Master Naraku wishes you enjoy yourself outside Inuyasha," Kanna said, interrupting the other's train of thought as if she knew what he was thinking. "Do as you would normally do when you're by yourself with young master Sekichou."

Confused by this, Inuyasha briefly looked at the pale incarnation before looking around the beautiful 'trees', sky, the birds that flew through the sky and chipped on the trees, the flowers on the luscious grass, and the warm breeze that blew on him.

Although Inuyasha knew that things were just illusions created by Naraku, they were so realistic. Suddenly, as the birds continued to make their occasional chirping sounds as they hopped on the grass searching for food, Sekichou was woken up by their sounds.

In his mother's arms, Sekichou blinked a few times before looking around in a sleepy daze. Inuyasha, noticing his now awakened son, only smiled, "Did Sei-Chan have a nice rest?"

At the sound of his mother's voice, Sekichou tilted his head up to look at his mother. Once he saw Inuyasha, Sekichou smiled widely and turned around in his mother's arms.

"Gaa!" Inuyasha smiled warmly at the name his son gave him and kissed his forehead.

Suddenly, a butterfly flew right before Sekichou's eyes, seizing his attention, before flying off. Sekichou wanted to go after it but he was still in his mother's arms.

Inuyasha was about to let Sekichou down on the ground to pursue the butterfly— that had now landed on a flower on the ground across from them—but stopped as he realized something—Kanna was still there.

Holding on to his son, Inuyasha turned around and looked at the pale incarnation who stared blankly at him. As if it was her duty to do so.

"Kanna," Inuyasha asked, "Did Naraku ask you to watch me?"

The pale incarnation nodded, "I am instructed by master Naraku to watch you as you play outside with young master Sekichou."

Inuyasha stared at the pale incarnation for another second before turning his eyes back towards his son, 'What's going on? Isn't Naraku trying to do something?'

Sekichou made a sound and Inuyasha let him down gently on the grass ground. Once on the ground, Sekichou crawled toward the butterfly that was still on the flower.

Inuyasha quickly glanced behind him, before he sat on the ground near his son. Fortunately, the butterfly that currently had his son's attention had landed on a flower that was underneath a large shade. So Inuyasha and Sekichou could enjoy the nice beautiful weather while being protected from the hot rays of the sun,

Sekichou crawled closer to the butterfly on the flower before another butterfly landed on the ground closer to him. Sekichou squealed in delight as he reached over to grab the butterfly. At this, the butterfly immediately flew off the flower and into the sky. Sekichou tilted his head back to watch as the butterfly flew high into the sky before it flew off in another direction. Sekichou giggled as he clapped his hands and bounced on his bum at the sight. Then he looked across from him where the first butterfly he found was, still on the flower.

Sekichou giggled again before he began to crawl towards that butterfly. Smiling at his son's antics, Inuyasha tore his eyes from the scene before him, as he turned to glance at Kanna to see if she was still watching him. And to no one's surprise, she was.

Kanna remained standing where she had been earlier. Her observatory eyes upon Inuyasha and Sekichou diligently followed their every move as she stood directly under the rays of the hot sun. It had been a while since they had come outside, and Inuyasha was starting to feel a bit hot under his clothing. He was glad that the butterfly that his son had decided to obsess over had landed on a flower under the shade of a large tree. However, Inuyasha couldn't help but wonder that if he was feeling a bit hot despite being under a large shade, how did Kanna feel?

'It's not like I care or nothin' but doesn't she feel hot over there?' Inuyasha wondered, 'Leave it Naraku to create a demon with no feelings or thoughts of their own. I bet she doesn't even feel hot.'

However, despite thinking that, Inuyasha found himself switching from watching his son to occasionally glancing over at the pale incarnation to see how she was fairing with the weather. And no matter how the time he looked, it didn't look like Kanna enjoyed nor hated the rays of the hot sun. And yet, for some reason, this bothered Inuyasha. Finally, Inuyasha decided to invite the pale incarnation over to where he was.

"Hey you!" Inuyasha called out to Kanna, to which said incarnation responded by staring directly at Inuyasha instead of both Inuyasha and Sekichou. "Since we're both out here not by choice of our own, wouldn't it be easier to sit closer together? Come and sit next to me!"

At this, Kanna just continued to stare directly at Inuyasha and asked, "Why?"

Although she didn't show it, Kanna was taken back by the InuHanyou's invitation.

"Why not? I don't see it as a big deal since we're both outside here." Inuyasha called out, "Come over here already!"

Kanna paused as she considered the words of the InuHanyou. She remained that way until her attention was directed to her master's son who was on the ground. Sekichou had turned his attention from the butterfly that he was close to, to face Kanna and widely smiled at her.

Kanna watched as a happy Sekichou seemed to call out for her as he cooed and made happy sounds.

For some reason, although Kanna was an observer of the scene, She now strangely felt a part of it. As Sekichou continued to make happy sounds towards her while gazing at her with those wide crimson eyes that held so much excitement for life in them, Kanna felt drawn to that.

Inuyasha, noticing this interaction between his son and the pale incarnation, continued to say, "Kanna, come. Come and sit next to me."

At this, Kanna paused for a bit before walking towards Inuyasha and sitting down close to him. Not really caring wherever the pale incarnation sat just as long as she sat under the shade he was under, Inuyasha gave Kanna one more glance before turning this complete attention back to his son.

Keeping his curious eyes on Kanna as she sat down, Sekichou made a happy sound before deciding to crawl towards her. Kanna watched in surprise as her master's child forgot all about the butterfly that he was obsessed with, and made his way toward her. Once Sekichou was close to Kanna, he stretched out his hands as if he wanted Kanna to pick him up into his arms.

Taken back by this, Kanna just looked at Sekichou as he did this.

Watching the scene before him, Inuyasha was also a bit surprised at his son's behavior but soon became amused by it. Inuyasha looked at Kanna to see if she knew what to do, but she just continued to stare blankly at Sekichou.

"Kanna," Inuyasha finally said, finding the whole situation amusing, "I think he wants you to take him into your arms." At this, Kanna nodded and did just that much to Sekichou's delight.

Once in the pale incarnation's arms, Sekichou lifted up his hands and began touching her face. It was like he was trying to identify her by touch. He touched her face, the flower in her hair, and her hair before he looked back at Kanna with a happy smile. Sekichou then pointed at Kanna with his mouth open, as if asking her for her name.

Already knowing what his son was doing, Inuyasha smiled a sweet smile, "Kanna, Sei-Chan is asking for your name."

"Oh," Kanna said, looking down at her master's son was looking back at her with waiting eyes. "It's Kanna. Kanna."

Sekichou repeated Kanna's name in his mouth as he tried to say it in baby language. And the name he was saying wasn't even close to Kanna's name. At this, Inuyasha burst out laughing as he found the whole thing hilarious and adorable at the same time.

Kanna briefly looked at Inuyasha, before turning to look back at the small boy in her arms. However, at the sound of his mother's laughter, Sekichou looked at his mother and giggled.

Still laughing, Inuyasha smiled at his son and leaned over and kissed his forehead. Sekichou returned his mother's smile with a sweet smile of his own before looking back at Kanna, but this time instead of looking at her face, he looked directly at her eyes.

Sekichou climbed up Kanna's arms a bit more and used her arms to grab a hold of her face and bring it down to his level as much as he could. He tilted his head up. Gazing directly into Kanna's blank eyes, Sekichou blinked a few times before smiling a sweet smile. Then he began to coo while looking directly into Kanna's eyes and pointed his finger at it as if he was trying to ask Kanna eyes for their name.

Confused by what his son was doing, Inuyasha said, "Sei-Chan, Kanna already told you her name. It was whatever you just said her name was, remember?"

Sekichou turned to look at his mother briefly before looking back at Kanna's eyes as if he was waiting to hear their name.

At this, although Inuyasha was confused, he decided that it must be a baby thing and just watched.

However, in the dark forest that was far away from the castle. In an area close to the bird Daiyoukais' nest, Naraku locked eyes with his son's. He had been watching the entire scene from the very beginning from Kanna's eyes since he didn't want to arouse the suspicions of Inuyasha with Kanna's mirror. In silence, Naraku had been nothing but an observer as he watched Inuyasha question Kanna about his intentions, the moment the trio went outside, Sekichou's fascination with the butterflies that flew by, Inuyasha's interaction with Kanna about getting her to sit down with him, Sekichou asking Kanna to pick him up and asking her for her name.

Naraku had watched all of that without a word, and had expected to watch the rest of the scene in silence, but didn't expect Sekichou to notice him. It honestly took him by surprise. However, Naraku suspected that his son was a curious baby who didn't understand what he was looking at. So while it was possible that he knows that Naraku was there watching him, it's also possible that he didn't know and was just curious by Kanna's eyes.

However, as Sekichou continued to locked eyes with him, even after Inuyasha had called him, Naraku realized that his son knew that he was watching. So as Sekichou kept cooing and pointing his finger at him, waiting for Naraku to say something, Naraku answered him.

"My name is Naraku." Naraku said, locking eyes with his son, "Na-ra-ku."

And soon as those words left Naraku's mouth, he heard his son attempt to say them. And when Sekichou realized that he didn't say his father's name right, Sekichou continued to say it, until Naraku repeated his name again. Each time Sekichou repeated his attempts in saying Naraku's name, Naraku would repeat his name back to his son in a patient, calm and tender tone. This went on until Sekichou said the words, "Ga, Gaa, Gu!"

At this Sekichou smiled a sweet smile and made a happy baby sound as he successfully said his father's name.

For some reason, this took Naraku by surprise. And strangely enough, it was a pleasant surprise. A smile made its way to Naraku's face as he reached down and touched his son's reflection through the surface of the water.

"Sei-Chan, what are you saying?" Naraku heard Inuyasha say, "Are you describing Kanna's eyes?" Suddenly, Inuyasha came into view as he looked at Kanna's eyes along with his son.

Upon seeing his mother looking at what he was looking at, Sekichou smiled and turned to Inuyasha briefly before looking back up at Naraku.

Naraku watched as amber golden eyes unknowingly locked with him as they repeated the words, "Ga Gaa Gu?" And Sekichou nodded his head in delight.

"Ga Gaa Gu!" Sekichou repeated as he stared up at Naraku once more. Suddenly Inuyasha tore his eyes away from Naraku's and looked down at his son.

"Ok. Ok, Kanna's eyes are Ga Gaa Gu." Inuyasha said, looking at Kanna this time and not directly into her eyes, "Sorry, Kanna. Sei-Chan seemed to have come up with a name for your eyes."

"It's ok." Naraku heard Kanna reply, "He's saying the right name."

Keeping his hand on the water, Naraku stared at the scene before him. Naraku recalled how a few weeks ago Sekichou had cried in his arms. And how terribly saddened Sekichou was to be separated from his mother and was with his father instead. At the time, Naraku didn't really care about his son ignoring him since keeping Sekichou happy was never part of his plan.

However, that all changed for Naraku as he watched his son identify him and tried so desperately hard to say his name when he didn't do the same for Inuyasha nor Kanna. It was as if Sekichou wanted Naraku's approval in some way.

'What a strange child, you are Sekichou. Why do you care about how I feel about you? I'm barely in your life as it is.' Naraku thought. To Naraku, Sekichou was just a tool of convenience that he could use against Inuyasha. Naraku had thought that the boy had understood that in the beginning whenever the boy ignored him in favor of Inuyasha, but it seemed that he didn't. It seems that somewhere along the way, Sekichou had recognized Naraku as his father and not just another stranger.

Naraku paused as he didn't know how to pinpoint the strange mixture of feelings that washed over him. They were a mixture of feelings of sadness, joy, and something else. An emotion that Naraku was not familiar with.

'What is this feeling?' Naraku thought as he continued looking at the scene before him. 'It's as if I am familiar with this feeling, but I am not. I have never felt this way before.'

The feeling, although unknown, wasn't to say a bad feeling, but was just a feeling that Naraku wasn't familiar with in the slightest.

As the Sekichou beaming face continued to reflect upon the water, Naraku let his hand remain on it for a few more seconds, before removing it and standing back up. Naraku had his hand over the water and was about to change the scene to summon Utsuho's mirror when a bird suddenly appeared in the scene before him.

"Gaa!" Naraku heard his son say with excitement clear in his voice, "Gaa!"

Suddenly, Sekichou tore his eyes from his father's to look at the bird that landed on a flower that was a little bit away from Kanna's feet. Upon seeing this, Sekichou climbed down from Kanna and made his way to the bird.

Naraku watched as the bird pecked the grassy ground for a bit for some food, before turning its head to look at an approaching Sekichou. At this, the bird immediately spread out its wings as it prepared to take off when Naraku stretched his hand forward over the water.

Suddenly, the bird paused before bringing its wings back to its side. It kept his eyes on Sekichou as he approached it.

"Gaa!" Sekichou happily said, as he finally approached the bird. "Gaa!" Sekichou reached over and used his finger to touch the bird's head, before touching its wings, and then its body. Sekichou giggled as he did this again.

Keeping his hand stretched out over the water, Naraku stared at the scene, until he saw a butterfly fly right before Sekichou's face. Naraku watched as his son's eyes followed after the butterfly.

And as expected, Sekichou removed his attention from the bird and began to chase after the butterfly. And once he did that, Naraku slowly moved his hand to the side as if he was releasing something.

Suddenly the bird blinked twice before taking off. Naraku turned back his attention to his son, who had now found joy in chasing after the butterfly.

Hearing his son's joyful laughter, Naraku smirked,

Before waving his hand over the water to summon Utsuho's mirror.

Feeling her master disconnected from her eyes, Kanna blinked her eyes a few times before turning to look at Inuyasha.

Inuyasha had a suspicious look on his face as he watched his son now play with the butterfly that had stolen his attention from the bird.

Turning to look at the surrounding forest, Inuyasha scanned the forest with his eyes. Even though he didn't see anything, Inuyasha still kept looking back into the forest every now and then.

When Kanna noticed this and asked him what was wrong. Inuyasha replied, "Don't worry about it."

The trio remained outside until sunset. Kanna, excused herself to go inside first. While Inuyasha waited for her to come back, Inuyasha swore he saw Kagura fly out on her in the distance with a human. Surprised at this, Inuyasha didn't know why Kagura would be with a human at the castle unless Naraku had asked her to do something for him.

Suddenly, it all clicked. With eyes of newfound realization, Inuyasha glanced back at the forest before picking up his son. Once his son was in his arms, Inuyasha walked toward the castle without waiting for Kanna to come back. Once he entered the castle, Inuyasha passed by Kanna who had met him in the hall. And as if she didn't care, Kanna just followed Inuyasha as they entered the hall leading to his room.

Once they entered the hall, Inuyasha smelt the scents of Kagura, an unknown human, and fresh wood. Following the scent of his nose, Inuyasha slid open his room and was greeted by even stronger smells than the scents he smelt before even though the room was empty. Wondering why Kagura and a carpenter would be in his room, Inuyasha looked around on the floor. Immediately, Inuyasha noticed how new some wooden boards on the floor looked. Setting his now sleeping child on his futon, Inuyasha got on his knees and felt the floor—particularly the ones where he got hurt from the splinter earlier. Surprised at the fact that those problem spots were no longer there, Inuyasha paused as he processed the events of today.

Finally understanding what had happened, Inuyasha snapped his head up to look at Kanna who had just stared at him with a blank expression. Even though Kanna didn't say anything, the look on her face was enough to confirm Inuyasha's suspicions.

"Kanna," Inuyasha said, "Where is Naraku? I want to talk to him."

"Master Naraku is out of the castle for the time being," Kanna said, confirming Inuyasha's suspicions of the spider demon's whereabouts, "I too am not sure when he will come back."

"Is that so?" Inuyasha said, his eyes narrowed in suspicion at Kanna's words. "So how did Naraku know that the floor here needed to be repaired if he's not here? Is he watching me?"

At this Kanna stared blankly at Inuyasha, "It seems you already know the answer to the question you seek Inuyasha."

At this, Inuyasha remained quiet as he stared at Kanna. The two stared at each other for a while, while Kanna broke the silence.

"If that is all, I will go get your dinner ready." Kanna said, waiting a minute to see if the InuHanyou had anything else to say, "I will be right back."

Kanna said, before leaving the room and sliding the door closed. Inuyasha waited a few minutes after he heard Kanna's footsteps disappear to make sure she was gone, standing up. Once up Inuyasha scooped his sleeping child up, slid the down open, and walked out of the room.

Inuyasha made sure not to follow the path that Kanna took that led her deeper into the castle. Instead, Inuyasha went in a different direction that would lead him outside. Once outside, Inuyasha walked towards the forest.

Sitting on the ground of the dark forest, Naraku reflected on the things on his mind as he looked into the depth of endless darkness of the forest. Suddenly, the sound of a drop of water hitting the surface of a body of water drew Naraku's attention back to the glowing body of water beside him.

Narrowing his eyes in suspicion, Naraku waved his hand over the water, and Kanna's face appeared.

"Kanna, what do you have to report?" Naraku asked, knowing something was off since he had just gotten the day's report from his incarnation earlier. "Did something happen with Inuyasha?"

"It seems that Inuyasha has escaped with young master Sekichou." Kanna said, "I can't find them anywhere in the castle, should I check outside master Naraku?"

"No, I will do that myself. It seems Inuyasha has not learned the lesson that I thought he has learned from running away. " Naraku said, standing up, "Kanna, use your mirror to show me where Inuyasha is."

Kanna nodded, before her reflection on the glowing water changed to the view of Inuyasha was seen walking somewhere. Naraku held out his hand over the water and muttered an incantation. Suddenly the reflection on the water began to move as if an invisible drop of water was dropping on it. Then the ripple of the water left the water and began to seep into the ground of the dark forest and under Naraku's feet.

A strange wind blew upon the trees of the dark forest as the sounds of rusting trees filled the air.

Naraku moved his hand in tune with the wind as if he was trying to determine which direction the wind was blowing from. Suddenly his hand came to a stopped as the wind stopped blowing. Naraku opened his eyes and looked towards the direction where his hand had stopped at. Without a moment's hesitation, Naraku walked in that direction and continued to do so until he was out of the dark forest.

Naraku looked around until he saw the back of Inuyasha's figure walking away. Naraku paused as he took note of the way Inuyasha was moving. Naraku watched Inuyasha walk deeper into the surrounding forest that was near his castle.

"Inuyasha," Naraku called out once, watching as the InuHanyou stopped before turning around to look at him.

Annoyed amber-golden eyes met his cool crimson eyes, as the two enemies locked eyes with each other.

"Well, if it isn't the bastard himself who has decided to grace me with his presence," Inuyasha said with an annoyed look on his face, "To what do I owe you for this special visit?"

Smirking in amusement, Naraku said, "Now Inuyasha, don't tell me that you came all this way just to get me to come after you." Watching how the InuHanyou's annoyed glare became harsher, Naraku chuckled, "What do you want from me Inuyasha?"

"Why the hell were you watching me Naraku?" Inuyasha asked, "And don't you dare deny it after what happened today."

"I have no reason to deny it, Inuyasha." Naraku simply said as if he had nothing to hide. "I was watching you Inuyasha. Something I have been doing since the day you came here. You already know this."

"Yeah I do, but at least in the beginning you had more of a reason to do that with your sick obsession with getting me pregnant and then keeping me pregnant. I was your entertainment and still am." Inuyasha said, glaring even harder at the spider demon whose smirk only widen at the mention of his actions. "Once I became attached to our son, your focus changed to using the fear of punishment against me to see how much I would be willing to put up with for the sake of living to protect our son. And although the methods kept changing, your goal remained the same."

"Oh?" Naraku said, intrigued with how correct the InuHanyou had been so far, "And what goal was that?"

"Controlling and using me as your personal entertainment. Once you're bored of me, you'll throw me away." Inuyasha said, "That's the only reason why you're keeping me alive. I haven't bored you yet."

At this, Naraku's smirk only widened much to Inuyasha's irritation, "Since you have figured me out, tell me what I'm thinking now. Why am I watching you this time?" Naraku was curious to know since Inuyasha had figured out something that Naraku had only told the InuHanyou's older brother, rival, and former companions. But maybe Naraku was giving the InuHanyou too much credit. Knowing Naraku, it wasn't hard to figure out what his plans were with Inuyasha–especially since they are enemies. "Come on, tell me. I'm curious."

At this, Inuyasha seem to hestaiant as if he knew the answer but didn't want to say it, "...I-I don't know, you tell me. Why were you watching me?"

At this, Naraku stopped smirking and gave Inuyasha a cold and analytical look as he studied Inuyasha. After a few seconds, Naraku said the exact words Inuyasha was thinking as if he had read the InuHanyou's mind said, "So you're wondering if I'm watching you because I have an insidious plan up my sleeve against you for the sake of my personal entertainment?" Taking the InuHanyou's silence with his piercing stare as a sign that Naraku had gotten that right.

Naraku chuckled at this, "Well, generally speaking, you're not exactly ever safe with me. However, I must admit, I haven't been thinking anything against you for a while now." Though the look Inuyasha gave him showed that the InuHanyou didn't believe him, "You don't believe me, why not?"

"I will never believe a word you say after everything you have put me through Naraku." Inuyasha said, giving Naraku a hard stare, "I would be a fool to do so."

It was silent between the two for a moment as Naraku finally understood that Inuyasha was scared of him. However, knowing the InuHanyou's temperament, Naraku decided not to say anything. Instead, he just walked closer to Inuyasha, who at first was a bit startled about the spider demon's movement towards him, but decided to remain standing where he was. Soon, Naraku was in front of Inuyasha and the two enemies were standing face to face.

Naraku stared at the InuHanyou a bit more before he said, "Although I can't guarantee your safety in the future, I can say for now that I am not planning anything against you."

"Bullshit," Inuyasha said, staring hard at the spider demon before him, "You're full of lies Naraku. I ain't stupid enough to believe that for one second."

Naraku paused before he said, "Ever since our last encounter Inuyasha, I have not watched you until today." However, the look on the InuHanyou's face wasn't buying it, "Believe what you will Inuyasha, but I am speaking the truth."

"Then how come all of a sudden you decided to check today?" Inuyasha asked, still staring hard at the spider demon. "Am I supposed to believe that the same day you 'coincidentally' checked was the day that I discovered a problem with the floor?"

"A strange coincidence indeed, but I assure you that is the case Inuyasha." Naraku smirked, "I have not checked up on you because I have been busy the last several weeks searching for the jewel shards. You know, something you used to do?" Inuyasha shot Naraku a dark glare which he just chuckled at. "Today is the day before I finally execute my plan. You should be glad that you're not on the receiving end this time."

"What are you going to do to them Naraku?" Inuyasha said, intensifying his glare towards the spider demon as he realized who will be on the receiving end of his plans this time. This intrigued Naraku.

"Oh?" Naraku chuckled, "You still care?"

"Damn you." Inuyasha almost growled.

The smug smirk never leaving his face, Naraku simply said, "Believe me now, Inuyasha?"

To which said InuHanyou kept silent. Taking that as a yes, Naraku just walked past Inuyasha in the direction of the castle. Naraku walked a bit before coming to a stop.

Looking back at the InuHanyou, Naraku asked, "Are you coming Inuyasha?"

Inuyasha just looked at him with a look of uncertainty reflected in his eyes. Naraku stopped smirking and stared back at Inuyasha.

Inuyasha was still scared of him.

Suddenly, those strange feelings of guilt and regret came over Naraku once again just like they had during his last encounter with Inuyasha. 'What is the true cause behind these feelings?' Naraku thought as he reflected on not just the feelings he was experiencing right now, but throughout the whole day. 'Inuyasha is supposed to be my enemy that I despise. I am supposed to be delighted when he is suffering and unbothered when he is down. What is going on? What is causing me to act so strangely towards him?'

The two stared at each other for what seemed to be an eternity before Inuyasha's arms tighten around their sleeping child. Almost immediately after that, Inuyasha took one step forward before pausing as if he was hesitant on taking the next step. Naraku just silently watched and stared at Inuyasha with a solemn look on his face.

Keeping his eyes on the spider demon, Inuyasha stared at his enemy who remained standing where he was. As Inuyasha stared into Naraku's eyes, he saw an emotion that he had never seen on the other demon's face before. It was a sincere look of understanding. Taken back by the appearance of this emotion on the other's face, Inuyasha remained where he was and actually watched the spider demon. It was by doing this that Inuyasha noticed how Naraku never broke out of that look and seemed to be calmly waiting for Inuyasha.

'Why do you look at me like that knowing you're the source of my hesitation?' Inuyasha thought, wondering what was on the spider demon's mind, 'Naraku.'

Inuyasha waited a bit before he decided to continue walking forward. Naraku's face remained the same until Inuyasha had reached and stopped right before the spider demon. Suddenly, Naraku took Inuyasha by surprise once more. A smile appeared on Naraku's face. It was a genuine display of happiness from him that had no trace of malice or mockery in it.

'What…' Inuyasha thought, as the smile on Naraku's face didn't leave him. Then, Naraku made a movement with his head towards the castle. At this, Inuyasha understood and continued to walk. However, the moment Inuyasha passed him, Naraku followed him until he was beside him but was taking the lead.

Half of the walk to the castle, it was silent between the two Hanyous. Until Naraku said, "Inuyasha, why is it that you never told me that our son could talk?"

"I just thought you knew," Inuyasha replied, glancing down at the sleeping child in his arms, "The little guy's been talking for a while now. I guess he's been trying to reply back to me."

"Sekichou seems to really like you, Inuyasha," Naraku said, briefly glancing at his son before he kept his eyes forward.

At this, Inuyasha looked at Naraku as if he wanted to say something in response, but decided against it and made a sound of agreement instead.

Somewhere along the walk, Naraku had stopped smiling. However, it wasn't a bad thing as a peaceful look had settled on Naraku's face instead. Upon noticing this, Inuyasha stared at the other's face, however, his eyes were soon met by the spider demon who returned his curious stare with that same peaceful look. Feeling strangely embarrassed that he was caught staring, Inuyasha looked away.

Watching as InuHanyou averted his gaze, Naraku just resumed looking back in front of him. The rest of the walk continued in silence even when they reached the castle. As Naraku and Inuyasha made their way to the hall containing Inuyasha's room. Stopping as they approached the front of his room, Inuyasha turned from Naraku to slide open the door of his room.

Sliding the door open, Inuyasha made a movement to enter the room before he heard Naraku call his name, "Inuyasha." Inuyasha heard the spider demon say once. Standing between the entrance way into his room, Inuyasha turned his body sideways and tilted his head up to face Naraku. However, before Inuyasha could register what was going on, Naraku leaned down and kissed him. It was a soft kiss that didn't last long, however it still took Inuyasha by surprise.

Naraku broke the kiss and smirked as if he enjoyed the look of astonishment on the InuHanyou's face. Glancing down at their sleeping child, Naraku used his free hand to ruffle his son's hair and looked back at Inuyasha.

"I'll see you when I get back Inuyasha," Naraku said as he walked away. Leaving Inuyasha to stare at his retreating figure.

Inuyasha watched as the spider demon walked down the hall until he was out of sight. Bringing a hand to his lips, Inuyasha touched his lips still in surprise at what just happened. He did for another few seconds before turning back towards his room before entering it and sliding the door close behind him.

Naraku walked out of his castle and headed in the direction of the surrounding forest that would take him back to the dark forest.

'..It was when Inuyasha made a sharp hissing sound, did Naraku feel like he was drawn back out of the moment.

He found two more spots that would inflict damage upon an unsuspecting person who had the misfortune of coming upon them.'

'Ga, Gaa, Gu!"

At this Sekichou smiled a sweet smile and made a happy baby sound as he successfully said his father's name.

For some reason, this took Naraku by surprise. And strangely enough, it was a pleasant surprise. A smile made its way to Naraku's face as he reached down and touched his son's reflection through the surface of the water.'

'Naraku looked around until he saw the back of Inuyasha's figure walking away. Naraku paused as he took note of the way Inuyasha was moving. Naraku watched Inuyasha walk deeper into the surrounding forest that was near his castle.

"Inuyasha," Naraku called out once, watching as the InuHanyou stopped before turning around to look at him.

Annoyed amber-golden eyes met his cool crimson eyes, as the two enemies locked eyes with each other.'

'Inuyasha waited a bit before he decided to continue walking forward. Naraku's face remained the same until Inuyasha had reached and stopped right before the spider demon.'

'Sliding the door open, Inuyasha made a movement to enter the room before he heard Naraku call his name, "Inuyasha." Inuyasha heard the spider demon say once. Standing between the entrance way into his room, Inuyasha turned his body sideways and tilted his head up to face Naraku. "I'll see you when I get back Inuyasha," Naraku said as he walked away. Leaving Inuyasha to stare at his retreating figure.'

Thinking back on the memories of today and the feelings that accompanied them, Naraku paused mid-step. As he reflected on these things, a question that the wind sourcress had said earlier to him in the day repeated in his head…

'Naraku, am I hearing this right?" Kagura asked, "You're fixing the floor for Inuyasha? Why the sudden attention to detail on his behalf?"

As this question repeated itself in his head, Naraku looked back at the castle.

'This sudden attention to Inuyasha along with these…feelings is not certainly something I had expected.' Naraku thought, 'But, it doesn't seem like it's a bad thing. After all, Inuyasha is my personal whore until further notice. So, I should enjoy everything Inuyasha has to offer me–Including the experience of these feelings– until his time is up and he is nothing more than a memory…'

Turning away from his castle, Naraku continued walking towards the dark forest until he entered it.

Far away from the castle, Kagura flew in the sky on her feather. Coming to stop at the small hut that sat on the wall of a cliff, Kagura floated down as she entered it.

There sitting against the wall with his eyes closed as he slept on the floor was Hakudoshi. Keeping her eyes on the young incarnation, Kagura stepped inside the hut and looked around for a place to sit down and rest. She saw a spot next to Kohaku who sat against the window with his eyes as well. However, before Kagura could make a movement towards that spot, a voice calls out for her…

"Kagura," The voice said, stopping the wind sorceress in her tracks, "You've been gone for quite a while. Where have you been?"

Kagura turned back around to face Hakudoshi who was still sitting in the same position against the wall, but this time his eyes were open and staring at the wind sorceress.

"Che," Kagura scoffed, as she turned away from Hakudoshi and walked towards the spot next to Kohaku. "Please, I was doing an errand for Naraku. It was nothing much."

"Oh?" Hakudoshi said, intrigued, "It must have been something since you were gone the whole day."

Sitting down, Kagura closed her eyes, "Yeah it involved doing something with a human from a village."

"Oh?" Hakudoshi said, and nothing more as if he no longer cared about what she had to say. Suddenly, Hakudoshi closed his eyes and seemly went back to sleep.

Not hearing anything else from the young incarnation, Kagura closed her eyes in sweet relief as she could finally rest.

Besides her, although Kohaku appeared to be asleep he was actually awake. He had been awake a little bit before Kagura had come in. With one eye slightly opened that was on the side of his face away from the wide sorceress, Kohaku looked at a sleeping Kagura and Hakudoshi before falling asleep.

Author's note:

What do you think Inuyasha was going to say to Naraku when Naraku made an observation on Inuyasha's and Sekichou's relationship?

The reason why Inuyasha didn't hear the carpenter fixing the floor in his room was because Naraku had placed a spell on the room, so Inuyasha wouldn't hear the carpenter.

Other things to mention:

So, if I haven't mentioned this already, this will be a Naraku( seme) x Inuyasha (uke) story. If you hate that because of Naraku's actions -I honestly don't blame you- you shouldn't read this story. I tried to make the Naraku in this story as behave as cannon as possible, so if you hate him because of that, it means that I have done a good job. However, how this story will end is why this will be a ride for you guys. That's all I can say.

Anyway, this ending of this chapter was difficult to write because it's a pretty important chapter it lays the foundation for what will happen next in future chapters. So I didn't want to mess it up. I rewrote the middle and the ending a few times. I also rewatched Inuyasha and saw that Kikyo actually survived the fall off the cliff when she was supposed to die. It was quite a surprise since I was going off of memory and wiki when I wrote this story. However, since I had already decided that she actually dies, Kikyo will continue to remain dead for this story. That being said, some events in this story will be different from how they happened in the anime since the events Kikyo is dead and Inuyasha was impregnated by Naraku...lol.

Also, since I'm still unsure about the ending of this monster of a chapter, I might revisit it in the future...idk, but I also might not...it depends.

That's all, I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Because this chapter was a lot to write, I had to delete the scenes that I couldn't keep, I'm taking a break from this story for a bit.

Reviews are always appreciated!
