Professor Layton Hit the Road, Chapter 4

«Unnhh…. braaaaaaains…...Or at least some tea, please. » Emmy said, as she rose from her bed, still sleepy from the experience from last night.

« No tea ma'am. Instead, how about some freshly made coffee from the local bar? » Sam responded.

« Nah. It's actually homemade. Have a cup. » Sniper then said, handing her a mug.

« Thanks. » she said. As she begun sipping the coffee, however, she felt two small hands shaking her.

« Come on Emmy! Let's get going! Come on! » it was little Luke, clearly full of energy, unlike Emmy.

« Luke, just…. shhh. » she placed a hand on his head.

« Sorry Emmy. The guy was even more asleep than you so I gave him some Redbull. » Max explained.

« You were forcingly putting the beverage in his mouth until I came to stop you. » Layton said with a slightly angry tone, trying to contain some rage.

« Look. We don't have the time of the day waiting for some brat to wake up. » Max said annoyed.

« Honestly it was a scary sight. It looked like one of those movies that use water torture. » Sam crossed his arms.

« Yeah I have to admit I've always wanted to try that. » Max said with a mischievous face.

« Be lucky the professor found out and not me. » Emmy threatened the bunny, before going to get ready.

« Anyway, let's discuss today's plan. » Layton said far calmer.

« So, looking for the flute of Sammit? » Charlie asked.

« Yes. Luke, you said an antique flute was auctioned off at the black market, correct? » Layton asked Luke, who had finally calmed down.

« Wait, wha-oh hello Mr. Layton. Uh, yes! The flute! I actually heard Beth talking about it. » Luke responded after staggering a bit.

« So where's this black market? » Emmy suddenly asked, ready to get at the investigation.

« Holy raven shaped weenies on a sunny Sunday! That was fast! » Sam exclaimed.

« A lady never keeps a gentleman waiting. » Emmy responded.

« Unlike all bloody women I've met. » Sniper groaned.

« So, where's this black-market, Luke? » Emmy asked the boy.

« I…. don't actually know. » he scratched his arm embarrassed, ashamed that he couldn't be more useful. « I've only heard rumours abut it. I've never actually been there. »

« That explains why you still have your kidneys intact! » Max joked, gaining a glare from Emmy.

« Honestly it's for the best if you don't know kid. Saw some of the most disgusting perversions in those places in my years of service as a Freelancer. » Sam commented.

« Like the World of Fish market on top of the Largest Ball of Twine! » Max exclaimed.

« But what about the other market? » Luke proposed.

« What other market? » Emmy asked.

« You know, the regular one. I can show you where that is! » Luke said.

A short silence followed. « So any ACTUAL ideas to find this black market? » Max asked.

« Actually, a market can be good for gathering information's. » Layton explained.

« I don't think the local price of melons is gonna be useful in finding any mystical flutes. » Sam admitted.

« Still, we might find something useful there. I think we should explore the market. » Layton responded.

« While we're at it, why not asking the locals? They may know something that we don't! » Sam proposed.

« That is also a good suggestion, my friend. » Layton then said.

« All right! We need to take the rope bridge to get to the market. » Luke explained.

« But we can't! Emmy has bridgephobia! » Sam explained, only to be hit in the muzzle with Emmy's notebook.

« Well I said we used that gag long enough. » Sam admitted.

Room 301 Interactions:

« Did you actually know this hotel is a local legend? » Luke asked the group.

« As the most depressing looking hotel in the world, I can see why. » Max responded.

Xxxxxxx

As the group exited the room, they met Bobbi, with a worried look on her face. « Didn't I see you yesterday? »

« Yes you did ma'am. » Charlie responded, before gaining a glare from her. « About yesterday…I think it would be best if I apologized for my behaviour. »

Bobbi simply sighed. « It's fine. It's all water under the bridge. Still…a talking puppet? That's a new one for me. »

« Wait until we tell you of the space gorilla. » Sam then said.

« So you must be the tourists that went to the hotel to see the spectre, right? » she asked.

« That would be us. » Sniper responded.

« Say, you had a close call! The spectre left a huge claw mark outside your room! » Bobbi exclaimed.

« Well at the very least the inside was left unscarred somehow. » Sam explained.

« And we're fine. We've been moved to room 301. Very comfortable room. » Emmy then said.

« It was so comfortable you could barely get out of bed this morning! » Luke teased the woman.

« Why you…c'mere! » Emmy shot back, gabbing the boy in an armlock and gave him a nuggie, the boy laughing like he hasn't done in a long time.

« Well this is positively wholesome. » Sam commented.

« I think I'm gonna puke. » Max complained.

« So why are you so keen on tracking this spectre? » Bobbi asked.

« Because we're Sam and Max, Freelance police! Solving unsolvable crimes with massive amount of violence and lack of restrain is our speciality! » Sam explained.

« Anyway, take this. Might help you…might not. This little puppet has always made a fine good-luck charm for me. » Bobbi then said, as she handed Sam a small, fat puppet resembling a chef pig.

At the sight, Charlie raised his eyebrows in shock. « I don't believe it! The puppet of Moccus! »

« Yet another toy of power? » Sniper asked.

« Toy of power? » Bobbi asked confused.

« The puppet of Moccus has the ability to manipulate the actions of overweighted individuals! » Charlie explained.

« Why only fat people? » Sam asked.

«Yog-Soggoth was having a phase when he made that toy. » Charlie explained.

« Heh. Who knew an Elder God could make such cute toys. » Emmy commented.

« Elder God? Puppet of Moccus? Yog-Soggoth? What are you guys talking about? » Bobbi asked confused.

« It's a long story. » Luke responded.

Xxxxxxx

As the group went down the stairs, Joseph greeted them. « Mornin'. Trust ya slept well. I sure didn't. » he greeted them.

« Well, I'm sorry for that. The new room you gave us was quite comfortable, thank you. » Layton said.

« I barely felt the cockroaches nibbling my toes last night! » Sam exclaimed.

« Just glad that you're all OK. If word was that some tourists got smashed up in one of my rooms, my business would be done for. » Joseph then said.

« Not to worry. With your current lack of customers, your cranky behaviour and the depressing look on this hotel, your business will go bankrupt before any unfortunate incidents can occur on your establishment. » Sam "reassured" the man.

« Well that's reassuring. So, what quaint examples of local flavor may I recommend that you visit today? » Joseph asked.

« We would like to see the market. » Layton responded.

« Yeah. The market's nice. They got fruit and pottery and fish and all that stuff tourists like. » Joseph commented. « It's just west of Grand Bridge. But I'm sure you knew that from reading your travel guidebook. Just cross the rope bridge, and you're there. »

« Thank you. Gentlemen, shall we? » Layton said as he motioned to the door.

« Let's! » Max exclaimed.

Xxxxxxx

Hotel Interactions:

As the group exited the hotel, they found themselves face to face with one of the police officers of the small town. « Good morning, fellow police officer! Bet your job is going smoothly today! » Sam told the man.

« Morning to you as well. And yes, ever since we got a new police chief, our investigations are much easier. We have nothing to do! » the man responded.

« Even regarding black market activities? » Sam asked.

« Well there are rumours, but we haven't found anything that resembles one of those things. » the police officer admitted.

« Any progress on the spectre, if I may ask? » Layton then asked.

« Well so far the spectre is more of a natural disaster than a crime. No injuries to report thus far. Just a lot of damage. » the man responded.

« It's not all that bad! » Max exclaimed.

« Yeah, my little buddy here once did twice the amount of damage the town is suffering right now! » Sam added.

« But he's not going to do it here as well, right? » the police officer threatened the duo.

« Jeez buddy. No reason to get aggressive. » Sam raised his hands in mock defeat.

« Yeah! Only WE get to abuse our power around here. » Max frowned.

Xxxxxxx

Café Entrance Interactions:

As the group reached Patty's Place, they met a familiar gargantuan face. « Ah, we meet again, my friends! » it was Aldus, greeting our group happily and cordially.

« We sure are meeting your pink gargantuan figure frequently. » Sam admitted.

« He looks just like Heavy, but without the muscles. And with actual hair. » Sniper joked.

« Well he has been fundamental in the locating of several peculiar items in this foggy town, from small fossils found in tubes, to coins that can solve any sort of mysteries- » Sam explained, before being interrupted by Max.

« And perhaps even the location of a black market! » Max exclaimed.

« I am afraid that I know such thing as the location of a dark coloured shopping centre. But I do believe I have something else you might enjoy. » Aldus apologized.

« Does it have anything to do with the black market? » Sniper asked.

« Not quite. It's a puzzle! » Aldus responded.

« Piss of. » Sniper responded rudely.

« Now, now, Mr. Mundy. There's no reason to get aggressive. Besides, a puzzle might not be such a bad thing. » Layton intervened.

« You really have a thing for puzzles pal. This morning you were looking all over a bush because you thought you saw a puzzle! I think you might be addicted. » Sam confessed.

« It's time for an intervention! We'll need some cocktail peanuts, an iron maiden, oh, and a box of handkerchiefs. This is going to be emotional. » Max added.

« Oh, my sincere apologies. It's a weird hobby of mine. But Mr. Mundy here is correct, I'm afraid. We don't have quite the time for puzzles at the moment. » Layton then said.

« You're not supposed to cave THAT quickly! And you call yourself an addict. » Max then said with a tone full of disappointment.

« Do not fear my friend. We will have time for a puzzle at another moment. » Altus reassured Layton.

Xxxxxxx

Paddy's Place Interactions:

Still looking for the black-market location, the group entered Patty's Place, and were greeted by the Irish man. « Sorry there, folks. Not quite open for business yet. » Patty apologized.

« But I heard you have the best dessert in town! The location of the black market! » Max exclaimed.

« Black market? This town has a black market!? I thought those existed only in underdeveloped countries! » Paddy exclaimed shocked.

« Does this place look "developed" to you, leprechaun? » Max asked.

«Very funny, Max. » Emmy sighed annoyed.

« Anyway, I'm terribly sorry, but I have to continue my pastry business here. I'm ready to answer any question it might help you but otherwise…I'm afraid we'll have to meet later. » Paddy then said.

« Good luck selling them! » Sam exclaimed.

Xxxxxxx

As the group reached the main plaza, Sniper begun to look around several times. « Something the matter, Mr. Mundy? » Layton asked concerned.

« Some wanker is following us. Get your weapons ready, cops. » Sniper responded, before turning to Sam and Max, who did as he said.

« Hello ge- » a man with blue-rimmed glasses, a green jacket over a yellow waistcoat and white shirt with blue slacks and brown shoes was about to greet the group, before Sam, Max and Sniper pointed their weapons at him.

He gasped in horror at the scene, before the trio wiredrew their weapons. « Well he doesn't look much of a stalker. » Sam admitted.

« I'm no bloody-Jesus you folks scared me! I almost had an heart attack! That, and that damn flute I hear every night giving me an headache, it's going to be the end of me! » the man complained.

« Holy Mary on a bikini in a vacation in war torn Siberia, you heard the flute as well!? » Sam exclaimed.

« It was quite a moving, melancholy tune. » the man explained.

« Can you tell us from where it came from? » Layton asked.

« Not quite, I'm afraid. This old mind isn't as good as the old days. » the man admitted.

« Anything regarding a black market, then? » Sam asked.

« Neither. Oh, a spirit rampaging in our town, and an illegal market in our shadows. This town just can't catch a break, can't it? » the man complained.

« Don't have a cow, man! » Max shot back.

Xxxxxxx

Murray Street Interactions:

As the group searched for the market, they found the same lady with the cart that they met the day before. « The hotel in North Ely has giant gashes in the wall! Good thing I got out of there! I shudder to think what would've happened had I stayed. »

« Dismemberment, mauling, blood sucking, that kind of thing. » Max replied.

Xxxxxxx

Apartment Row Interactions:

« Sounds like a tough day yesterday. Didn't find what you wanted, huh? » Hugo asked, as the group passed by.

« Kind of. We just didn't get the chance to blow it up! » Sam replied.

« Unfortunately…» Max added.

Xxxxxxx

Warped Hill Interactions:

« Yesterday was chaos! The ground shook! The music was nice, though. Thanks to the oracle's prophecy, we were all safe! » Mido exclaimed.

« Would had preferred if it helped us capturing the spectre instead of covering like a little baby. » Max replied.

« I heard that the oracle knows the mayor! Keep that to yourself! Maybe the mayor is the one behind the spectre! It's a conspiracy in Misthallery! » Mido exclaimed.

« Intriguing. » Max grinned.

Xxxxxxx

Crossroads Interactions:

« Hey there, Luke. You stayin' coo'? » the bird loving boy the group met near the Triton estate asked.

« Hello, Finch! » Luke exclaimed.

« You know this avian vocalizer extraordinaire? » Sam asked.

« We used to play together. » Luke explained.

« Yeah, but Luke stopped coming 'round. Yoi too coo' for schoo' now, Luke? Glad to see you're outside enjoying nature again, at least. » Finch continued.

« And with any luck, we can sell him to the local market! » Max exclaimed.

« Very funny. You better watch your tall feathers. That's where all the workers' kids hang out. They're no joke. » Finch replied.

« Who are these juveniles that appear to be affiliated with the labour's party? » Sam asked.

« The factory on the east side of the town closed down. Check it out if you want. That place is a hoot. Ever since the workers lost their jobs, all their kids just hand out at the market. Better keep Luke there under your wing if you wanna stay coo'. » Finch replied.

« Intriguing…» Max grinned evilly.

Xxxxxxx

Library Interactions:

« What a bother. Every time I come back from a short break, it takes so long to get my mind back in gear. Especially after a holiday. I try to find anything that will stimulate the old grey matter. » a woman said. She had long blue hair and pale skin. She wore a purple dress with a stripe in the middle, pink pants and glasses.

« I'm sure you'll be able to find plenty of kids with puzzles regarding doors. » Max replied.

« Very funny. » Luke grumbled.

Xxxxxxx

Closed Factory Interactions:

During their investigations, the group found themselves in front of an abandoned factory.

« This is the old factory. I guess they used to make steam cars here a long time ago. » Luke explained.

« Looks like something straight out of . So what happened to it? » Sniper asked.

« They closed the factory because it was polluting the water. » Luke explained.

« Never stopped before. » Sniper chuckled.

Xxxxxxx

« The years've passed quickly since I got laid off from the factory. Almost like living in the future. I was so caught up in work that I never settled down or tried to start a family. Now when I go home, I'm all alone. I've named all the flowers I grow. I talk to them every morning. » a man said. He was a tall, swarthy man with ash grey hair and a beard. He wore a pair of tinted sunglasses that lacked temples that were perched atop the bridge of his long nose. He also wore an off-white onesie over a red shirt with black buttons and dark brown shoes.

« Can you please name one of them…horny? » Max asked.

« …You do that. » the man replied.

Xxxxxxx

Foyer Interactions:

Once again, Sam and Max had separated from the group in search of various items, and were back in the Triton residence.

« Wouldn't be funny if we spilled the beans and tell Mr. Triton where his kid is? » Max proposed.

« Tempting. However, given the fact that he probably has an I.Q above that of a dead salmon, I think he figured it out already. » Sam replied.

Xxxxxxx

« Lately Doland has been going out quite a bit. Before, he would be very clear about what he wanted done. He's been busier than usual since that spectre appeared. I'm just a simple maid. Without guidance, I run into trouble. » Beth explained.

« Believe it or not, Sam does have a similar problem! » Max joked.

« Quit it Max! » Sam protested.

Xxxxxxx

Wretcked Home interactions:

« The spectre had a late checkout at the hotel, eh? Did they charge him extra for that? » Brock laughed out.

« Not really. Unless you count collateral damage as payment. » Sam replied.

« I heard people were inside when the spectre smashed up the hotel! But no one was hurt! Our spectre has terrible aim! » Brock laughed out once more.

« That and a totally not frightening look. No wonder you're laughing about it! » Max replied.

Xxxxxxx

As the group continued their search, they finally arrived at the rope bridge. « The market is just across the rope bridge. » Luke explained.

« I can't wait to see what kind of things people are selling! » Emmy exclaimed.

« I wonder if they have any weasels on a stick. » Sam wondered.

Xxxxxxx

Greeting the group from beyond the rope bridge was a candy stall, with an elderly woman who wore a black shirt with a light blue skirt, black and pink striped tights, and black shoes. She also wore a black had with a pink bow that resembled a candy wrapper, and a light pink scarf.

Max stared at awe at the candies, gaining an annoyed look by the elderly woman. « I would like to buy some of those fine-looking candies! » Max exclaimed.

The woman frowned at the request. « You kidding me!? Get out of here! I make my candy by hand. I make it for children, not for adults who can't control their urges! »

« So you won't sell candies to my little buddy? » Sam asked annoyed.

« Oh, you're a quick one, fido. » the woman shot back.

« You know, with that cranky personality and your candy-selling policies, it's a mystery just how you're still standing in business. » Sam frowned.

« She just get along with all the psychos in this fog generator. » Max said irritated.

« How about you, little boy? You like candy? » the woman said with a far more kind tone.

« I am not a little boy. And thank you, but no. » Luke responded slightly angry.

« You could teach your rabbit friend here a thing or two about self-restraint. » the woman said.

Max pullet out his luger with an annoyed face, before being blocked by Sam. « You know, if this wasn't the mayor son, I'd actually let you do it. »

« I'll make it look like an accident. » Max shot back irritated.

« Anyway, do you know anything of a black market? » Sam asked the elderly woman.

« I'd like to sell this kid kidneys! » Max then exclaimed.

« One of the boys who buys candy from me was talking about it. He said that a dark bird runs it. » the responded.

« A bird? Running the bloody market? » Sniper asked incredulous.

« Does this kid suffer from a candy addiction, resulting in him visiting your glorified drug store often? » Sam asked.

« Oh, sure. Tweeds is always around the marketplace. Sweet boy. He always wears a red shirt. » the woman explained. A short silence followed. « Do you have the slightest idea how little it narrows it down? » Sniper asked annoyed.

« He's also blonde and has small, dark eyes. Now move along! » she responded rudely.

« Jeez ma'am. You could had let us down easily. » Sam complained.

Xxxxxxx

After a bit of walking, the group finally reached the market. « All right. We have some clues now. We're looking for a young boy named Tweeds. He has a red shirt, he's blonde and has small, dark eyes. » Emmy said.

« Time for some good old quality wasting of time and paragraphs! Also known as asking around! » Sam exclaimed.

« As long as people are less of a jerk than that old fart we met earlier. » Max complained.

« I assume you met Aunt Taffy. » a young man said. He wore a purple roll neck top, with a red jacket over the top, which had most of his top underneath. He also wore a white pair of trousers with black shoes. He wore an unusual pair of glasses and his hair was black.

« Is she old, sells candies only to kids and is generally annoying? » Sam asked.

The young man gulped. « That…would be her, yes. Anyway, looking for something? Maybe something very specific and rare? Try Marilyn's stand. She's got the best assortment of fresh fruits and vegetables! »

« Does she also have black markets? » Sam asked.

« What's a black market? » the young man asked.

« Never mind. Know anyone called Tweeds? Blonde hair, small dark eyes, red shirt? » Sam then asked.

« Nope. » the young man responded.

« Why aren't you as pointless as a bloody Shahanshah. » Sniper grumbled.

« Hey! You leave Louis alone, Aussie! » a feminine voice came from behind Sniper. It came form a young girl, with black, wispy hair. She wore a white dress with a dark blue button in the middle, and one on the bottom on top of a matching strip of ribbon winding round. She wore red leggings and purple shoes on her feet. Around her head she wore a bandana which sat above her eyes.

Sniper glared at the girl. « And you are, brat? »

« Do not fear, miss. My friends means no harm. » Layton intervened to avoid bloodshed.

« Speak for yourself, pom. » Sniper shot back.

The young girl simply sighed. « Let's just…forget about this, ok? My name is Marilyn. And, changing the topic, today we have specials on many kinds of fruit! » she said with an upbeat tone.

« Everything looks so fresh! I bet they all taste great! » Emmy exclaimed at the sight.

« These plums are ripe and sweet. » Marilyn said, before handing one of them to Emmy. « Here- try a sample! »

« Oh, it's heavenly! » Emmy said in awe as she munched the fruit.

« As for us…do you have any black markets? » Sam asked.

« Is that where you're headed? I only heard rumours, but the only people who go are rich tourists. » Marilyn explained.

« Only someone drowning in money could be dumb enough to go in a damn black market! » Max exclaimed.

« But we're also going there! » Luke exclaimed.

« THAT'S why we're bringing you along kiddo. That and the fact we can sell your organs in exchange of the flute! » Max grinned.

« Max! Quit it! » Emmy scolded the rabbit.

« What? It would be a noble sacrifice for this town! » Max said in a poetic tone.

« No Max! remember, every time a child becomes a ghost, it causes more harm than anything, even if it is a noble sacrifice! Remember that red dressed Japanese girl we had to deal with last time! » Sam intervened.

Max remained silent for a while. « Keep the boy safe no matter what. »

« Do you know anything about its members? About the guy in charge? » Sniper asked.

« Only about the leader. It is said that he's very strange and very scary. No one has seen his face! » she answered.

« Well he better not show his face. Unless he wants to be arrested by every single police officer in this fog generator. » Sam commented.

« Unless he's working for the mob. » Max commented as well.

« There are also some rare antiques and works of art there, but you don't want to get involved in it. » Marilyn warned the group.

Sniper simply reloaded his rifle, gaining a gasp from the young girl. « Don't worry. I can handle myself. »

« Just as we do. » Max then said with a mischievous grin, while pulling out his luger.

« By the way, do you know anything about a boy called Tweeds? Has a red shirt, blonde, small black eyes? » Sam asked.

Marilyn simply shrugged her shoulders. « You tell me! I haven't seen him in ages! » she responded.

« I think we shall find the answer after we ask around a bit more. » Layton then said.

« What are we waiting for! » Max exclaimed cheerfully.

Xxxxxxx

Market Centre interactions:

« A rich assortment of apples. » Sam noted at the sight of a cart full of apples.

« Take them all, so we can use them against Zombie doctors! » Max exclaimed.

Xxxxxxx

In their search for the black market, the group found a boy. He wore a brown shirt and pants with a light blue belt. On his head he had a light blue bonnet.

« Oh, this is just the worst. The worst, I say. What a pain! » the kid complained.

« Any particular reason why your nervous system is making you experience turbulent times, little buddy? » Sam asked concerned.

The kid raised an eyebrow at the dog. « Who the heck are you? »

« My name is Sam. And this is my huggable little buddy Max. » Sam introduced himself and his pal.

« Please don't hug me. » Max half threatened half pleaded the boy.

« Anyway, if you truly want to know, my father left some time ago and never returned. Now I win the bread so Mother does not suffer. It kind of has me down. » the kid replied.

« It's this kind of dedication that we all must aspire to. » Sam declared.

« Sir… what do you know? He hasn't been around in over a year! He doesn't think about us! » the kid shot back.

« Tried to ask around? Maybe to a certain…market? » Sniper asked.

« You mean the black market?! Oh, let me just run right there! HAH! I kid. A pathetic attempt at getting information out of me. Thanks for pretending to care, though. » the kid walked off.

« Nobody knows anything about the black market, nor about Tweeds. I don't think it's here. » Emmy noted.

« I tend to agree. » Sam replied.

« Sam, we may need to refine your people skills. I think the entrance to the black market may be hidden. » Layton replied.

« So how are we going to find it? » Emmy asked.

« Well, someone must know. » Luke reasoned.

« Yes, it might be prudent to ask around a bit more. » Layton replied.

Xxxxxxx

As the group reached the centre of the market, Layton had an idea.

« The road goes in both directions. Let's explore down there as well. » Layton proposed.

Xxxxxxx

Market East Interactions:

« Socket, you ate all that candy?! Mom is gonna be mad at you! » a little girl exclaimed. She was a fair-skinned girl with reddish-brown hair styled in a pair of pigtails that jut out horizontally. She wore a brown double-breasted jacket with orange buttons over a pale orange turtleneck sweater, along with blue jeans with the ends of them tucked into light brown boots.

« I only took one little bite! Several times… Here—I'll give you the last piece if you promise not to tell on me. » the boy, Socket, pleaded.

« You can't buy my silence with something so… » the girl shot back, before she started chomping away at the candy. « Wow, that candy is really good! »

« Wanna know what's even more delicious? Black markets! You know where they are? » Sam asked

« Socket made me eat it! Oh, whew! I thought you were our mom! Do me a favour. Don't tell anyone you saw us eating any candy, OK? » the girl pleaded.

« Our mom can be pretty scary. She shouts and shakes her hands and makes her forehead all wrinkly. » Socket explained.

« Oh, boy I gotta see that! » Max exclaimed.

Xxxxxxx

Market West Interactions:

« See anything salvageable? Well, too bad! I've already laid claim to this gold mine here! » a boy declared. He wore an orange shirt that has a white stripe across it, along with dark green pants and brown shoes. He wore glasses that hid his eyes and had frizzy brown hair.

« They do say one man's trash is another man's treasure. » Max joked.

« Trash, huh? Yeah, I bet a grownup like you knows a lot about hard work, eh? » the boy shot back.

« You're an irritable little juvenile, aren't you? » Sam joked.

« What you see as a mountain of junk is how we make a living! » the kid declared.

« Fair point. So you know where we can find a black market? » Sam asked.

« The black market? Does that place really exist? Heheh. I hear rare pieces of art turn up there, but I just collect junk, right? So I dunno much about it. » the boy replied.

« Touche, kid. Touche. » Max replied.

Xxxxxxx

« Pardon me, young man, but do you—» Layton was about to ask a boy, before being interrupted.

« I don't know nothin'. The old lady that sells candy knows about everything. Everything. » the boy replied. He had messy brown hair which covered his eyes and a long, thin nose. He wore an orange loop neck sweater and dark blue pants.

« Bloody useless…» Sniper grumbled annoyed.

Xxxxxxx

The group continued their track in the somewhat large market, when they suddenly noticed a black figure on the rooftops. He had a very lanky, tall build, and wore long black robes. He had a bird-like head, with furry 'ears'. He wore a necklace.

The figure jumped down from the roof and attempted to hit the group. « Look out! » Layton exclaimed, as he covered Luke for protection. In response to the attack, Sniper pulled out a knife and attempted to hit the figure.

Knowing it didn't have much of a chance against a man with a large knife, and the fact that both Sam and Max had pulled out their guns, the figure begun to ran away.

« Stop right there! This is the freelance police! You have the right to be blown up! If you don't want to be blown up, well that's too bad! You're gonna blow up! » Sam warned the figure as he began shooting it.

But the figure was extremely fast and, most importantly, agile. It ran across a wall and using a tent, it jumped on top of a roof, narrowly dodging Sniper shot. « Wave goodbye to your head, wanker! » Sniper threatened the figure, while Emmy also ran across the wall to reach him.

As Emmy chased the figure on the roof, with Sniper occasionally taking a shot every now and then, the rest of the gang chased it on the ground. After a while, the figure jumped down from the rooftops, and ran on a shop.

« Freeze, dirtbag! » Sam exclaimed with a frown, pointing his gun at the shop. However, inside there was no bird headed figure. Because it was in another building, running away from the group.

« Over there! The Thot cosplayer is over there! » Charlie exclaimed.

Meanwhile, Sniper and Emmy were still giving chase to the raven figure, who ran inside a building. Emmy was about to enter the building, but was stopped by Sniper. « Over there! The bloody magpie went over there! » he exclaimed, signalling her that the raven was in another building.

« Wait what!? » Emmy exclaimed back. In the meantime, the rest of the gang joined the chase. Soon, they reached the city centre, but the raven had already moved to another position, then to another, and then to another one, almost teleporting.

« Ok, can't believe I'm the one saying, but what the hell is going on!? » Max exclaimed as he tried to shoot at the raven.

« Over there! No… there! » Charlie tried to direct Sniper, Sam and Max. suddenly, the bird figure jumped down in front of the group.

« I am the Black Raven. Welcome to my market. » the figure greeted them with a menacing tone. Sniper, Sam and Max pointed their guns at the figure, but he simply chuckled at the scene. « While you have a…decent aim, we can do this all day and you won't be closer to hit me than before. »

« Well let's see how good your dodging abilities are at close quarter combat, you fiend. » Sam threatened the raven.

« Sam, please. Let's try to talk with this person. » Layton intervened. The trio lowered their guns, and prepared to talk.

« You came here asking all sorts of questions… Now why is that? » the Black Raven asked.

« Where is the bloody flute of Summit?! » Sniper threatened the individual.

« Everyone is searching for something. Hehe… » the raven chuckled.

« Just letting you know I don't need a gun to send you to bird heaven! » Max threatened the Black Raven.

« I will tell you…if you have what it takes to barter. » the raven explained.

« If you give us the flute you get to live a few more years of your miserable life. » Sniper told the individual.

« A nice start. Hehehe…how about I give you a hint. You'll have to figure out the rest yourself. » the raven said, before disappearing. On his place, a small note was left.

« Somebody care to explain what just happened? » Sam asked confused.

« I've heard rumours that the Black Raven is the head of a group that runs the black market. » Luke explained.

« And you didn't tell us before because? » Max asked annoyed.

« Because I thought it was just a rumour. » Luke responded a bit ashamed.

« Hate to break it to you, kid. But so far every single rumour in this fog generator of a town has turned out to be true. » Sam noted.

« So that guy's in charge, right? » Emmy asked.

« It looks that way. » Luke responded.

« And what is this piece of paper he left us? » Layton wondered as he picked up the paper, who read this message: "Put my body together". Everybody was confused by it.

« Erm…Mr. Layton? What is that supposed to mean? » Luke asked.

« Well unless this is a secret Professor Layton/Five Nights at Freddy's crossover fanfiction, your guess is as good as mine. » Sam admitted.

« I do believe this is some sort of hint he's given us. » Layton deduced.

« But what could it possibly mean? » Emmy wondered.

« Well, it seems we'll need all of our detective skills to solve this mystery. » Sam then said.

After he said that, Sam, Max and Sniper begun shooting at random, while Layton, Emmy and Luke said in union "This reminds me of a puzzle!". Of course, it didn't work.

« Well that was rubbish. Any other ideas? » Sniper admitted.

« Perhaps we can ask around for more information's. » Layton proposed.

« Really? More questions? Isn't that what we did so far? » Max asked annoyed.

« You better get used to it. I'm pretty sure this is 90% of all Professor Layton games-I meant investigations. » Sam responded to his little buddy.

Xxxxxxx

As the group walked, they noticed an extremely odd sight. It was a robot in the shape of a box with a wheel supporting it and a man who wore a white face mask with a goggle-style eye piece. « Oh s*it, customers. Now Steve, you better not f*ck this up.» the robot told his companion, before turning towards the group. « Hello meatbags! Let me be the first to introduce you to the Claptrap general technology store! So, what can I- »

« By all piranha plants in the desert of Mexico! Claptrap! Is that you!? » Sam exclaimed excited.

« Wait…Sam? Max? What are you two doing here in fogland!? » Claptrap asked confused.

« We could ask the same thing to you! How are things back in Pandora? » Max asked.

« They're great! Except for the fact that the sirens are launching a revolution, the animals have mutated, and I'm in debt with the mob! Interested in buying any pieces of Pandora's tech and equipment? » Claptrap responded, while proposing some of hit merch.

« Wait…Pandora? As in that Avatar movie moon? » Emmy asked confused.

Claptrap glared her for a second. « Ha. Ha. Ha. Look. MY Pandora came first, ok? »

« Forgive her. She doesn't really know much about what sort of adventures the freelance police experience, nor the existence of Pandora. » Sam calmed the robot down.

Claptrap sighed. « Fine. Just, try to avoid joking about it. »

« I was not! » the girl protested.

« You know these two? » Layton asked.

« Yes, that little robot there is our little CL4P-TP General Purpose Robot and poker buddy Claptrap. And the other guy is our bandit raider buddy Steve! » Sam introduced the two.

« HeyOo! » Steve exclaimed.

« Uhm…pleasure to meet you. My name is Hershel Layton. The two beside me are Luke Triton and Emmy Altava. » Layton awkwardly introduced his companions.

« Say little buddy, do you mind if we ask a couple of questions? » Sam asked.

« Sam, I promise! All the tech I'm showing is safe and guarantee to only have a 30% chance to explode in your face. » Claptrap guaranteed the group.

« Not about that. We're looking for the black market. » Sam explained.

« The black market? Sure, but why you ask? » Claptrap asked.

« Well you see, we're investigating how to eliminate an oversized Spectre causing destruction in this fog generator. However, it turns out that there is this one flute that can control the Spectre, and it was sold in this black market, which is run by a giant humanoid bird and- You know I change my mind. This IS just as weird as any of our adventures. » Sam explained, before realizing just how dumb the concept was.

Claptrap remained silent for a while. « Spectre? You mean the spectre everybody and their mother keeps talking about? There is no thing as spectres! » Claptrap exclaimed.

« It does exist, and it's a great danger to the entire world! » Luke protested.

« It's also the dumbest looking Spectre the world has ever seen. It's this giant purple blob with an arm that headbutts things! » Max tried to hold his laugh.

« And you haven't bombed the s*it out of this Spectre because? » Claptrap asked.

« B-because people live here! » Luke exclaimed angrily.

« Yeah! We're not yanks! » Emmy protested as well.

« Yeah! You're British! You love to bomb things! » Claptrap shot back.

« Not anymore. » Max said in a disappointed tone.

« So you know how to get to the black market? » Sam asked.

« Sure! You need four medals in the shape of a raven body parts and show it to this one kid, Nabby! » Claptrap responded.

« I see… "put my body back together." If you don't mind asking, do you know the whereabouts of these medals? » Layton asked.

« I have something better for you! Hey Steve! Get the medals! » Claptrap exclaimed to his companion.

« HeyOo! » Steve answered, before giving him four medals, each showing part of the body of a raven.

« Well that was surprisingly easy. Could you have imagined if we had to walk back and forward looking for these medals and solving annoying puzzles in the meantime? » Sam commented.

« Who would play that bloody game?! » Sniper exclaimed.

« How much should we give you for these medals? » Layton asked.

« Tell you what. If you guys want to barter with the Black Raven, you're gonna need a high-tech robot central system! Let me tag with you guys, and you'll get it for free! » Claptrap exclaimed.

« What about your business? » Sam asked.

« Don't worry. Steve can handle it. Believe, 90% of the times he's guaranteed to make a success! He could be the greatest salesman in the universe…. if he knew more than one word. » Claptrap responded.

« HeyOo! » Steve exclaimed.

« SHUT THE F*CK UP! And people say I'm annoying! » Claptrap complained.

« Well, let's look for this Nabby. » Layton then said.

« I know where he is! He's in the Northern section of the market! » Claptrap exclaimed.

« Well, let's get this Nabby and make him spill his- » Sam said before being interrupted.

« Organs? » Max asked.

« I was gonna say beans, but he might need some encouraging for talking. » Sam commented.

Xxxxxxx

After Claptrap gave our group all of the raven medals, they went to meet Nabby. « What a pain, what a pain. Why me, eh? WHY!? » he complained.

« You know where the black market is, brat? » Sniper asked annoyed.

« I told you before, I know nothing about this market! » the kid shot back.

« If you show us where the black market is, we'll give you these cool little medals! » Sam tried to convince the boy.

« No matter how many medals you give me, I won't tell you what I don't- » the boy was about to complain, before realizing what medals Sam was talking about. « Oh…where did you get those? »

« We had our ways. » Sniper shot back.

« You have the medals. YOU'RE the ones I've been waiting for! What took you so long?! I've been waiting here forever! » the boy complained.

« If you made the entrance of the black marked easier, we would have been here sooner. » Sam responded with a frown.

« So, what now? » Emmy asked.

« NOW you gotta solve this puzzle for me! » Nabby shot back.

« Ah yes. Our first puzzle that we actually showed in the fanfiction instead of skipping it entirely and going on with the story naturally. » Sam commented.

« So, what do we have to do? » Claptrap asked.

« You gotta slide the medals in the shape of a raven in this board! » Nabby explained.

« What's with all the raven symbolism here? Are you secretly worshippers of Apollo? » Charlie asked.

« Don't ask me. Considering the fact that they believe in oracles and giant spectres, I'd say this town is actually a pagan enclave. » Sam commented.

Layton gave the board and the puzzle a quick look, before placing the various medals in order. He then massaged his chin for a while, before smiling and pointing his finger at a random location. « A challenging puzzle to be sure! » he exclaimed.

Just like that, the puzzle was solved. However, the whole gang looked at him confused.

« That. Was. Weird. » Claptrap commented.

« Got the medals, got your invite to the black market. » Nabby explained.

« About bloody time! » Sniper complained.

Nabby then pointed at a large circular hole. « Go ahead and take that hole right there. Go down it, I mean…. don't actually try and take it. » Nabby explained.

« No promises! » Max joked.

« Although if I have to ask…how's Claptrap going to get inside? » Emmy asked, while looking at the robot's wheel.

« Do not worry, babe! I got this! » Claptrap responded, as he charged at the hole before jumping in it. « I REGRET NOTHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII… »

After a while, the group heard a loud "thong" coming from down the hole.

« Well, that happened. » Layton commented.

Xxxxxxx

Other than Claptrap having hit the floor with the top of its body, what greeted our group was a dark rocky cavern, with water at the bottom. « Are you all right, Claptrap? » Layton asked concerned.

« Wait, do robot actually feel pain? » Emmy asked.

« Oh please! All those edgy tv shows and videogames showing robots as beings capable of feelings and suffering are SOOOOO 21st century! In Pandora, CLP4 units are design to be emotionless working machines, with no sense of compassion or pain! » Claptrap exclaimed.

« All right, mates. Get your weapons ready. We're busting this bloody place. » Sniper said as he prepared his sniper rifle.

« All right folks! Let's walk to the light! At the very least we'll be able to meet our lord and saviour this way. » Sam motioned the group.

Black Market Interactions:

« My wife and kids are not at home, and here I am, at the auction…again! I work so hard, but I can't keep up with everything I want to buy! » a man exclaimed. He was a stout, fair-skinned man with brown hair, glasses, and a prominent chin. He wore a blue blazer with three yellow buttons over a white shirt, beige pants, and brown shoes. He also wore a black string bowtie.

« Here's a hint, moron. Go back home. » Sniper proposed.

« If it were that easy, don't you think I would've left by now? » the man replied.

« Because it's clearly hard to return to the warmth of your house and loved ones. » Sam replied.

« Don't bother with the meatbag. You all have the stupidest hills to die for when talking about spending. » Claptrap said.

« That's rich coming out of ya, Inventory inhabitant! » Max shot back.

« And here I thought we were buddies. » Claptrap replied offended.

Xxxxxxx

After a while, the group found themselves in an auction room. So far, no accidents had occurred, but suddenly, the room became pitch black. « Huh!? What happened!? Who turned off the lights!? » Luke asked afraid as he hid behind Layton and Emmy.

« Get the guns ready mates! » Sniper commanded.

« Wait, I see something! There! » Luke pointed at a light. Underneath said light was none other than the Black Raven.

« Jumping elephant beans with seasoned marshmallows sunk in radioactive smile! We meet again, you avian fiend. » Sam threatened the raven.

« Glad you could make it. Your puzzle-solving skills are most impressive. The rumours about you might be true. » the Raven commented. « Now then…what do you lot want? »

« All right you oversized, flightless magpie! Where's the bloody flute!? » Sniper threatened the Raven.

« A flute, huh? I might have it. I might not. Hehehe…. Why would I tell you? » the Black Raven mocked the group.

Claptrap moved forward. « Raven, Raven, Raven. Raven. Can I call you Rave? » The Raven remained silent. « Rave it is. Ok, listen. We're just guys trying to do business! If you drop your mysterious act, you can get plenty of benefits! Tell you what, you tell us about the flute, and me and Steve will gladly sell you cheap various Pandoran items and support your expansion to the London metropolitan area for your shady business! »

« Don't like that? How about extra-terrestrial vacations that you'll never forget! » Max joined the negotiation with a grin.

« We don't plan to kill you. » Sam reassured the Raven.

« How about a hat! » Sniper then said, as he pulled out a hat on fire. Everybody looked at Sniper with a deadpan expression in their faces.« What? It's on bloody fire! »

« How about my proposal? If you tell us about the flute, we won't be compelled to reveal your true identity. » Layton joined the barter.

« Wait what? » Sam asked confused.

« Really, Mr. Layton!? » Luke exclaimed shocked.

« HOW!? » Max shouted.

« Repeat yourself! I dare you! » the Raven threatened the man.

« That's right, scumbag! We know your identity and will reveal it to the entire world unless you spill the beans! » Sam threatened with an angry face. He then turned to Layton with a far calmer look. « Hey professor! Who is this guy? »

« Was I the only one who saw the Black Raven mistake? » Layton asked.

« I was too busy aiming for his head. Didn't get much of a chance. » Sniper admitted.

« Same for us. We were too busy shooting that oversized vulture to see anything suspicious. » Sam commented.

« Earlier, it appeared that the Black Raven was capable of teleporting from one place to the other. » Layton told the group.

« Hardly think so. The human body isn't capable of recreating feats of teleportation's. » Claptrap noted.

« Hardly think Engineer set up teleporters around here. » Sniper commented.

« So it means that there was some sort of trick! » Emmy exclaimed.

« An excellent, and correct, observation, my dear. » Layton responded.

« It means that that fiend has himself an entire army of ravens undercover to use in his schemes! » Sam exclaimed.

« Indeed. When we assumed it was a single Black Raven, we overlooked the simplest explanation. » Layton congratulated the dog.

« So we know that there was more than one bloody Black Raven. So what? » Sniper asked.

« I also saw an item inside one of the Black Ravens cape during our chase. » Layton responded. « But the next Black Raven didn't have the item I had just seen. »

« So, what did you see big guy? » Claptrap asked curious.

« Candy. » was Layton response. A short silence followed.

« Do you have any idea how little that narrows it down? » Sam asked annoyed.

« What if I told you that those candies had a striking resemblance to the ones on Aunt Taffy's shelf? » Layton then said.

« But Aunt Taffy won't sell candies to adults! » Emmy exclaimed.

« So the Black Ravens…. » Luke realized.

« Are children. Precisely. » Layton responded with a smile. He then turned to the Black Raven. « They are the same children who guided us to the black market. They make up the Black Raven. »

« Well kids, it looks like you've been backstabbed by Aunt Taffy peculiar business decision. » Sam smirked at the Raven.

A short silence followed.

« Wow. » was all he said, before a boy emerged from the cape. He wore a blue cap, and a white shirt with a cream-colored scarf. He wore a red vest with blue pants and grey shoes. « You, sir, are very, very good. »

Sniper chuckled at the sight. « Not so threatening now, aren't you? » he mocked the kid, before he received a kick in the private areas. He remained silent. « Had I not been injected a baboon uterus, that might had hurt. »

« My name is Crow. I'm the leader of the Black Ravens. » he introduced himself. « I'd appreciate if you keep that a secret from the customers. »

« Does your market employ any organ harvesting? » Sam asked.

Crow face became pale. « I called this bloody establishment a "Black Market" because we're the Black Ravens! We're not those degenerates! »

« Well we'll let this slide then. But only if you tell us about the flute that was auctioned here. » Sam told the kid.

« I vaguely remember something like that. Let's talk about this backstage. » Crow explained.

« Happy kid? You don't get to sell your organs for the good of this city! » Max grinned at Luke.

« Not one world more, yankee! » Crow hissed as he walked toward the backstage.

« I'm gonna have fun here. » Max grinned mischievously.

Xxxxxxx

As the group arrived backstage, Crow had a piece of paper in his hands. « We keep meticulous records here. A black-market needs organization! » Crow explained the group. Max was about to make an organ harvesting joke, before Crow interrupted him. « Don't you dare. »

After a while, he found what he was looking for. « Here. Sold one year ago, almost to the day. "Piece reminiscent of spectre's flute of legend." Some rich guy form Highyard Hill named Barde took it home. Fancied himself as some sort of land baron. Lived up in Barde Manor and looked down on everyone. »

« I see. It seems that this fiend is using the spectre to become the king of this village! » Sam reasoned.

« Don't you mean Mayor? » Emmy asked.

« Well you know how it is with these aristocrats. They all want to act like the old days but still pretend to have running water and having long lives. » Sam responded.

« Don't think that's the case sir. Barde died about a year ago. » Crow explained.

« That's weird. The flute isn't supposed to kill the user after a mere year. » Charlie wondered.

« What happened to the guy? Did he get a tumour? » Sam asked.

« I don't know the details, sorry. I do know enough to recommend staying away from Barde Manor. » Crow warned the group.

« Because of the calamity witch… » Luke commented sad.

« Oh, so you're local, huh, kid? Barde's daughter, Arianna, is cursed. Anyone who speaks ill of her ends up regretting it. » Crow explained.

« Well how about we do a little bit more than speak ill of her? » Sniper smirked, as he prepared his rifle.

« Sniper! Please no! » Luke begged the man.

« What? It seems like this Arianna is responsible for the Spectre's appearance! » Sam explained.

« And the fact that they say it's curse it's also an indicator that she has the gift. Perhaps she's able to use the Toys of Power, gaining the nickname of Witch. » Charlie added.

« I know but…what if it makes things worse? » Luke asked concerned.

« Good point. Perhaps she's simply unable to use her powers and she's just throwing a tantrum. » Sam noted.

« Anyway, thanks for the information. » Layton thanked Crow.

« Before we go, might we ask what other items you have behind the counter? » Sam asked.

« What do you need? » Crow asked.

« Do you have any fossils of miniature size? »

« Nope. »

« Do you have any toys granting immeasurable power? »

« Nope. »

« Do you have any…Lancasters? »

« Sigh…...What is Jerry up to this time? »

« Other than turning into a caliphate, nothing much. »

« Anything else? »

« Do you have any tea cups with cracked edges? »

« Nope. »

« Do you have any spoons made out of skunk rectums? »

« Nope. »

« Do you have any bottles form a distant era? »

« Nope. »

« Do you have…. well I'm out of ideas. We'll ask more if we get the chance. » Sam then said.

« Good luck out there! And if you visit Arianna…. stay away from my market. » Crow threatened the group.

Xxxxxxx

After the group exited the black market, they headed to the city centre. « Highyard Hill is north of town, on the other side of North Ely. » Luke explained, a bit of sadness in his voice.

« So that horror house at the top of that hill is the location of a girl with unstable powers? » Sam asked.

Luke remained silent, but nodded.

« It looks like quite a walk. Are you going to be OK, Luke? » Emmy bent down to meet the boy's level.

« I'll be fine, thank you! » he said eager. Emmy however knew something was wrong with the kid, and it was probably about this Arianna.

« Maybe we can get some information about the witch along the way. » Layton proposed.

« Yes. Perhaps. » Luke replied.

A short silence followed again, and Emmy tried to change the subject to make him feel better. « Luke, something has been bothering me. Despite the spectre, there hasn't been that much damage in town. »

« Considering how weak that thing looks, I'm pretty sure a house made of paper could survive a meeting with that thing! » Max grinned.

« No, it's all thanks to Greppe. He's been using his money to help people rebuild the houses. » Luke explained.

« That rich? » Sniper asked.

« Yes. He doesn't care about my father, but he loves Misthallery. » Luke explained.

« And the list of suspects continues to grow. Bet this individual is trying to buy the sympathy of this town by damaging it with the Spectre and repairing it later! Time to make a little detour to ask some questions to the richest fog man on the planet! » Sam said excited.

« Where can we find Greppe? » Emmy asked.

« He really likes Paddy's Place in North Ely. We could check there. it's on Pike Lane, remember? » Luke proposed.

« What are we waiting for! » Max exclaimed.

Xxxxxxx

Inside Patty's place, Greppe was indeed there, sitting on one of the tables. He wore an orange suit with a white shirt and purple tie. « Hello there buddy. Are you Mr. Greppe? » Sam asked.

« That would be me, Fido. What does that mean to you? » he asked rudely.

« My name is Sam, and this is my little buddy Max. We're freelance police! » Sam exclaimed.

« Freelance police, huh? How can I help you? » he asked.

« We'll make a little test. You see this doll here? » Sam asked, as he showed Charlie.

« Yes? What about it? » Greppe asked.

« This is Charlie Hotep. It's one of the Toys of Power and grants the power of ventriloquism. Here Max, give him a demonstration. » Sam said before handing the doll to Max.

Max then pointed the doll at Greppe and whispered something. « Hello! My name is Greppe and I'm the one behind the spectre! » Greppe said, before widening his eyes. « What!? I didn't say that! »

« That is the power of ventriloquism. Mind giving it a shot? » Sam proposed.

« How's that supposed to help you in your investigations? » Greppe asked.

« Only the people with the gift are capable of using the Toys of Power. Like me! » Max explained.

« I see. You too believe that the Spectre's flute is the one bringing the Spectre here, and you also believe that it's one of these "toys of power." Perhaps Mr. Triton is smarter than he looks, by sending you lads in here. » Greppe commented.

« It was actually the kid that got us involved but…. » Max said.

« Anyway, I can assure that I'm not behind the Spectre's attacks. And to demonstrate it- » he said, before grabbing Charlie and trying to use it to make people say something. « I don't have the "gift" you're looking for. If you want to look at anybody with this so called "gift", look for Arianna. Barde's daughter. »

« You know anything about this kid? » Sam asked.

« Other than she's a witch, no one knows anything about her. » Greppe responded. Luke glared at the man, who was unaware. Emmy and Layton, on the other hand, were much more aware.

« I'd say we're done here. I apologize for the trouble. » Layton said.

« Good day to you, sir. » Greppe shot back.

Xxxxxxx

After a while, the group headed north. « Highyard Hill is just up ahead. » Luke said with an emotionless voice.

« The Witch's home turf, huh? » Emmy said.

« You really believe she's a witch? » he asked a bit sad.

« Well, I guess I don't know... What do you think? » she asked.

« I know what I think. I want to see what you lot think. » Luke shot back slightly angry.

« What's the deal with you and this girl? She's your Ex or something? » Max asked annoyed.

Luke raised an eyebrow. « My Ex? What do you- » Luke asked innocently, before beginning to blush and build up energy.

« Tsundere scream in three….two….one…. » Sam said annoyed before closing his ears. And a Tsundere scream Luke let out indeed.
