Chapter 93 Shield of the Cold

In the morning Brynhild clashes with Shin using swords to test his strenght, he was practicing using his new belt to increase his power.

She then pushes him back as he falls down, she charges but he jumps flash kicking her back.

"Well that's new." She said.

"I had to think of a different way." He said.

She got ready again. "Well it's time to show you how it's done."

Brynhild charges at full speed surprising him, she got close but then his eyes glowed and he dodged.

She got surprised that he reacted fast enough. 'He dodged it?'

Shin then strikes her and she got sent to a wall as it broke into pieces.

Shin gasped. "Oh no."

She came out of the hole and rubs her head. "How did you do that?"

"It's just something I got back home." He said.

"That can help against Baldur if you master it, a way to predict your own enemies moves." She said.

He nodded understanding what she means.

"I wish I could do more, with it." Shin said.

"It can be done, with more training. Since the vision you possess can do many great things." She told him.

"Okay. What's next?" He asked her.

"Time to achieve the next relic." She takes him to another area.

They arrived at a temple that was filled with fire around with a ice block in the middle.

"How didn't that melt?" Shin said.

"It's a very special ice, the item can protect against many things even the heat from the sun." She explained.

Shin looks forward wondering what to do.

"You must break the item free while the flames affect you, but it's to test your endurance against the future battles." She said.

Shin had no choice but moves forward, the moment he went in he felt the extreme heat causing his body to feel the burn.

"I can't..." he moves forward while wiping his forehead.

He got close to the ice and he takes off the jacket while still moving forward.

"I gotta keep going."

He reaches to it and starts to slash at it but it didn't want to break. He didn't have a choice and rips his shirt off.

Brynhild blushes seeing his chest as he's defined like how a swimmer would be.

Shin kept striking at it trying to break the ice as it was stronger than anything from before and his body was getting weaker. It's like he's facing the sun in this room.

Brynhild hopes that Shin can come out of it okay, this room has the heat of a sun so it will keep burning him.

Shin lets out a scream and brings the sword down with all of his strenght making a crack appear on the ice. Then a shield breaks out of it stopping the flames from hurting Shin anymore.

It was the Svalinn shield and Shin holds it while going to his knees.

"I did it." He was tired and weak.

Brynhild came and checks on him. "Shin."

Kivat came to his side worried. "Are you okay?!"

"Yeah, just feel tired." Shin said.

"Let me help you." She carries him.

She took him to another temple to put him in bed, and there was Mona who was checking on him.

"Oh my goodness Shin, you have to take better care of yourself." She checks him.

"I was just trying to get better." He said.

"Svalinn is a powerful shield that is kept inside the ice to make the trial go through, as it stops all of the flames by it's own mere presence." Brynhild said. "He would need a powerful shield at his side."

"But isn't there a better way?" Mona asked.

"Don't worry, the next one will be the final one." She told Mona.

"Oh that's good. I hate for Shin to destroy his body because of that." Mona smiles.

Shin relaxes a bit in bed.

"He will need to recover now, he's not use training in this condition." Brynhild said.

"Okay, i'll watch over Shin." Mona said.

Brynhild nodded and goes outside leaving them alone.

Mona sits on a chair next to Shin and placed a wet rag on his forehead to keep him cool.

"That should help a bit." She said.

"Your better as a singer than a nurse Mona." He said.

"Hey." She puts her hands on her hips.

"But, still thank you for the support." He smiles.

She smilest too. "Oh thank you Shin."

She kisses his cheek surprising him.

"Your always my hero no matter what. I wouldn't even be here if it wasn't for you." She said.

He smiles again. "Well that's good, I just hope you can live in peace much better than what you had in that other world."

"I liked Castle Doran more, all of the friends we made back then now live with us there too." Mona said.

"Well they enjoy it there. Despite Jiro not liking rats in the castle. But I told him they live in a place that doesn't spread around." Shin said.

Jiro was one that didn't enjoy having rats in the castle, but it was funny to see him react like that.

"He is very different from a regular buttler." Mona said.

"He's not the stiff the type." Shin said.

"I prefer Riki serving me tea." She added.

He nodded to what she's saying.

"We should have tea with the others, I want to meet your friends." Mona said.

She still wanted to see the others Shin knows since she can't go out in the sun.

"Don't worry Mona." He holds her hand.

She blushes a bit but enjoys his touch, as he's warm to her.

She takes care of Shin to help him recover while the valkyries prepare since soon he will have to face Baldur, but theres a strange feeling around the area that is bringing dread. They have to be careful.

Note: Shin got the shield Svalinn and is getting closer to the end of his training and facing Baldur soon enough, it was about resisting a intense force of nature to gain it.
