19. Chapter 19: Combat

Izuku walked towards the Monarch offices with a firm step. The morning sun illuminated the streets of Musutafu as his mind returned to the conversation he had had with Momo about the design of her suit. He had been informed that same morning that the suit was ready, and now he was eager to see it in person and present it to Momo.

He arrived at the Monarch offices, and upon entering, he was greeted by Hana, the head of the support team. She smiled kindly as she guided him to the laboratory where the suits were kept.

When everyone was ready, they gathered in the simulation area, where All Might was waiting with a smile.

Todoroki sighed, knowing there was no way to convince Bakugo otherwise. However, he wasn't willing to let his teammate ruin the mission entirely. He decided the best course of action would be to act in parallel while Bakugo did his own thing.

- *Do whatever you want* - Todoroki finally replied, with an indifferent look - *Just don't interfere when I finish this* -.

Bakugo let out a mocking laugh, confidence radiating from him as he turned toward the exit.

- *I'm going to reduce Midoriya and Yaoyorozu to ashes before you even notice* - he threatened - *Don't try to follow me, icy hot* -.

And with those words, Bakugo stormed out of the building where his opponents were, leaving behind a trail of smoke and sparks. Todoroki, however, didn't lose his cool. He knew that, sooner or later, he would have to step in. Midoriya and Yaoyorozu weren't simple opponents, and if Bakugo rushed in without thinking, the "villains'" plan could outsmart them.

- *I hope you don't end up ruining everything, Bakugo* - murmured Todoroki to himself, before starting to walk toward the building with a much more meticulous strategy in mind.

Both were convinced they could handle everything on their own, but only time would tell if their rivalry and egos would cost them the victory.

Bakugo burst into the building with blind fury, completely determined to reduce Izuku and Momo to ashes in a matter of seconds. The explosions from his hands lit up the dark hallway as he advanced, ignoring any caution or tactics. He was convinced that his power would be enough to crush any plan Midoriya might have come up with.

- *Come out wherever you are, damn nerd!* - he shouted in frustration, his eyes filled with rage. The echo of his voice resonated through the empty building - *I'm going to destroy you, Deku!* -.

However, as he ran deeper into the building, something began to feel off. The structure, which at first seemed simple, began to feel more complex. The hallways seemed longer than he remembered, and the corners were tighter. The sunlight barely filtered in, and the darkness created a suffocating atmosphere. Despite his determination, Bakugo felt a growing discomfort.

- *What the hell is this!* - he exclaimed, looking around in irritation. The walls seemed to close in, and for the first time, he stopped to take a closer look.

Suddenly, something crunched under his feet, followed by a metallic click. Before Bakugo could react, a series of hidden ropes in the shadows activated, momentarily trapping his arms. Although his strength was enough to break the ropes, the slight delay had left him in a vulnerable position.

At that moment, a gust of wind hit him from the side. The current was so fast and precise that, before he could prepare to defend himself, he was thrown into the air and sent crashing back toward one of the building's open windows. The impact disoriented him, and as he fell, he barely had time to see how a mix of carefully placed traps and a controlled wind current had sent him flying out of the building.

Bakugo landed on the ground outside, hitting the pavement hard. He quickly got up, but the rage in his eyes was now mixed with confusion.

- *What the hell was that?!* - he shouted, breathing heavily as he clenched his fists.

Despite his fury, he couldn't deny that he had been outsmarted by a strategy. He knew it was Izuku's doing. That mix of clever tactics and controlled wind power left no room for doubt.

- *Deku...* - he muttered through gritted teeth, getting up from the ground as his frustration grew even more - *Damn nerd, I'm going to crush you!* -.

Inside the building, Izuku watched everything from the shadows alongside Momo. They had planned every step carefully, using traps and ambushes to disorient Bakugo and keep him away from the bomb.

The left side of his body began to emit an intense cold, a freezing aura that quickly spread around him. As he advanced, Todoroki activated his ice quirk, covering everything in his path with a thick layer of crystalline ice. The walls, the floor, and even the stairs froze instantly under his control. With each step, the building transformed into an icy fortress, eliminating any possible hiding spots Momo and Izuku could use.

- *This should be enough to corner them* - Todoroki whispered, as a cold smile formed on his face.

The ice spread rapidly, covering almost the entire structure. He was sure that within seconds, the opposing team would have no more options. But, to his surprise, despite the entire building being covered in ice, there was no announcement of victory.

Todoroki stopped, his brow furrowed. It didn't make sense. He had covered the area completely; Momo and Izuku should have been neutralized, or at least forced to surrender.

- *What are they waiting for?* - he wondered aloud, looking around. The cold surrounded him, and the mist rising from the ice made visibility even more difficult.

He decided to proceed cautiously, knowing that Momo and Izuku might still be preparing something. However, something bothered him. The way the silence persisted and the lack of reaction from the opposing team made him suspect that, somehow, they had anticipated his attack. But how?

As Todoroki advanced, something caught his attention. Despite having frozen the entire building, there were no signs of Momo or Izuku. The security devices also didn't indicate that they were in the affected area.

- *Where are they...?* - he said, frowning.

What Todoroki didn't know was that Izuku and Momo had already anticipated his strategy. From the beginning, Izuku knew that Todoroki would try to cover everything with his ice. In fact, they had been expecting it. While Todoroki froze the building from the outside, they had used one of the traps Momo created to slip through the lower level of the building, moving beyond the reach of the ice.

- *The key was to keep moving and not face him directly* - Izuku whispered as he crouched alongside Momo in a hidden corner of the building, out of the ice's reach.

Momo nodded - *And now, while he thinks he's won, we have a chance to advance* - she added, as she observed the bomb just a few meters away.

Todoroki, on the other hand, was starting to get frustrated. Despite his control over the ice, there were no signs that his plan had succeeded.

Todoroki continued advancing through the frozen building, confident that his control over the ice had completely limited Momo and Izuku's options. However, something didn't add up.
