Hey guys! Welcome to the next chapter. Before we get started, though, I'd like to address something real quick.
Lately after posting some chapters, it would appear that I have now become the target of either spam bots or scammers who want nothing more than to ask me about "art commissions." This is not restricted to PMs, either, as they've also been regurgitating similar messages in the reviews section. And it is more annoying by the fact that they are signed reviews as well, meaning I cannot remove them even if I wanted to. This is what happens when you try and "fix" a problematic thing by removing an unrelated and helpful function that didn't need removing in the first place.
So, don't be surprised if you see something like that in your PMs or the review section as well. If you see any suspicious emails or links, do not click on them. Don't even bother interacting with them. Just block and report them and hope that they get removed by the system, however unlikely it may be. Believe me, the last thing I want to see is my followers and readers getting attacked by spam garbage themselves. Let's all look out for each other and stay safe out there, okay?
Now, let us recap Linda and Nisa's situation, shall we? When we last saw them and Numemon, all three had found themselves stranded on a lone island somewhere in the Digital World. Now they must figure out a way to get off the island and find their allies... unless Nisa and Linda can get past their differences first. Not to mention the dangers that surround the island. Find out what happens right now in this chapter.
Disclaimer: I do not own Digimon or the Hyperdimension Neptunia series. Both franchises belong to their respective companies.
Chapter 42: Island Of Nowhere
The Digital World's sun shined over the island in the middle of the Net Ocean. With few clouds in the sky, it was very hot, and the nearby sea made the air salty and humid. On the sandy shores of the island, three figures had run themselves ragged from looking all around the area, hoping to find any signs of life that could help them. Nisa, Linda and Numemon had found themselves stranded on the island after entering a portal with the CPUs and their Digimon allies. Separated from everyone else, the trio must now find a way to reunite with them if they ever hope to solve the crisis within the Digital World.
The trio had hoped that there would find someone or something that could point them in the right direction that would lead them off of the island and find the mainland. But no matter how much they looked or how long they searched, they couldn't see nothing but ocean for miles around. From what they could gather, they were stuck on the loneliest bit of land in the Digital World.
Right now it had been at least three days since they had ended up on the lonely island. They had stopped searching for a way to get off the island safely two days prior so that they could rest up. It seemed that no matter where they looked, there was nothing of value that they could find. Not even so much as a shipwrecked boat. It was just one large empty island. Needless to say, things were looking dicey for the group.
Linda, especially, was felling the brunt of the Digital World's harsh environment. She was taking cover in the shade of a palm tree of sorts. She felt hot and bothered by the rays of the digital sun. The green haired girl was surprised that she could even feel heat in the Digital World, let alone anything at all. She had expected it to look like a bunch of strings of code like in a movie she had once seen. This, however, was not what she was expecting.
"If I knew I would end up in the middle of nowhere in some world I don't know about, I would've brought some sun screen", Linda groaned.
For her, it was bad enough that she and everyone else had become separated in a different world that they had little to no knowledge of, but now she's found herself stuck on an uninhabited island with one she considers as her worst rival in existence. After the fall of ASIC, Nisa had been on her case many times, ruining every opportunity at either rebuilding the syndicate or committing new crimes and such, before the Guild stepped in and hunted her down. Naturally she couldn't help but feel disgusted by the idea of working alongside her former enemy. After all, just because she had her reasons for joining the CPUs and their allies didn't mean she had to like it, even if she was in the middle of reforming. If it were one of the others she knew less about like Uzume or Peashy, she'd probably be fine with them.
Linda rubbed her one of her arms, checking to see if it wasn't sunburnt. The green haired girl yelped a bit as she felt a stinging pain on her arm. Looking at where the stinging sensation came from, Linda could see a patch of red on part of her arm. She groaned at this, as she was now going to feel very sore later on as a result of the beating sun raining down upon her.
"Well, that's just great...", she grumbled to herself.
As the green haired girl festered to herself, two other figures were approaching her. It was Nisa and Numemon, who had in their arms what appeared to be orange fruit-like objects. The pair smiled as they carried the load of fruit in their arms.
"Look at what we brought back", said Nisa, presenting her discovery to the former criminal.
"What even are those?", Linda asked hesitantly.
"They're called Orange Bananas. They're very tasty", Numemon replied.
"I'm not much of a fruit person. Especially if they're from another world...", the green haired girl said dismissively.
"Ah c'mon, give them a try! I'm sure you'll like them", the slime-like Digimon encouraged.
"No thanks. I'll pass", Linda insisted.
"Well, what are you willing to eat? We're not going to find any fish out in the water, are we? The Digital World only seems to be inhabited by Digimon, isn't it?", said Nisa.
"Actually, from what I heard, there really are fish, but they're hard to catch", said Numemon.
"All the same, I'd go for anything that has meat on it", Linda commented.
"Well then, if there are fish in the Digital World, then let's see if we can't catch any around here", said Nisa.
She then looked at some of the nearby trees, looking for a good sized branch. She was planning on making a makeshift fishing rod. All she needed to find was a branch that was not only long enough, but also strong enough to withstand at least enough force to pull in a fish. Staring at one of the trees, she laid her eyes on a high branch that looked just right. She leapt upwards and chopped her hand near the base of the branch, cutting it off of the tree, causing it to fall to the ground with a thud. Landing on her feet, she then picked up the fallen limb, examining it all over. When the Heroine of Justice figured that the branch was just what she was looking for, she nodded in confirmation.
"This should do. Just needs a little trimming and it should be good to go", said Nisa, referring to the smaller limbs on the branch.
She then went back to the beach, then grabbed a piece from one of the Orange Bananas. Linda just raised an eyebrow, unsure of what the blue haired girl was going to do.
"And just where are you going to get a line and hook?", she asked.
Digging through her pockets, the Heroine of Justice searched for something that could help her. Her face beamed with satisfaction when she found a long strand of string and a series of what seemed to be stitching needles.
"I always carry some string and stitching needles for closing any battle injuries received in my crusade against crime", Nisa replied.
"Wait, you treat your own wounds?", said the pale skinned girl.
"Indeed! Compa taught me everything I needed to know about it during our fight against ASIC years ago", the blue haired girl explained.
Linda wasn't sure whether or not to ask about how many injuries the Heroine of Justice had received over the years to learn about treating herself properly. She also winced at hearing the name of her former criminal organization. It was quite a pain to the green haired girl to be reminded of her past as a member of ASIC, and the many humiliating defeats she suffered at the hand of the CPUs. She wanted to forget that she was ever part of such a group of crazed individuals who wanted nothing more than to revive a dark being that was bent on destroying Gameindustri. Nisa noticed the unsettled expression on her face and wondered if what she had said had bothered her.
"Sorry... I uh...", she said, trying to remedy the situation.
"Nah, its fine. Go on", said Linda, trying to put on a poker face.
The Heroine of Justice stared at her for a few seconds before nodding and clearing her throat.
"Normally, I wouldn't recommend this", she continued, "but in these circumstances, I think I can make this work. As long as the string and needle are clean, I can use them as a makeshift hook and line."
She then started to tie the string to one end of the stick, and the other end to the needle. Next, Nisa started to bend the pointy end of the needle, making a curved shape. Although the needle did not have a barbed end, she hoped that it wouldn't be a major problem, considering that she, Linda and Numemon did not intend to stay on the island for long. She then took the piece of Orange Banana she had plucked from before and attached it to the makeshift hook before turning her attention back to the former criminal.
"You have a knife on you, Underling?", Nisa asked.
"That's not my name!", Linda scolded, causing the blue haired girl to reel back in surprise. "And yes, I have one."
She then pulled out a foldable pocket knife and tossed it over to the blue haired girl, who thanked the former criminal. Moving on to the branch, she carefully trimmed the extra limbs off of the makeshift fishing rod with the knife, slicing off each bit with precision cuts and scrapes. After she was done, the Heroine of Justice gave the tool back to Linda. Next she wrapped the string tightly around the branch near the tip, then tied the other end of the string to the makeshift hook. Then she tugged on the string on both ends to make sure it was secure. Afterwards, she nodded with satisfaction. Her home made fishing rod was now ready for action.
"Okay, that should do it", she said confidently.
"You really think a fish is going to go for a fruit?", Linda deadpanned.
"If they're anything like the fish back in Gameindustri, I bet these fish will eat anything", said Nisa.
Then, using all the strength she could gather in her arm, she tossed her line out into the open water, her banana lure making a tiny splash sound upon hitting the water. Now it was just a matter of waiting for something to take a bite.
Linda sighed. She didn't want to stay on this island, especially with someone who was once one of her enemies, but at the same time, she did not know what to do. The pale skinned girl contemplated on making a raft to get off the island, but she wasn't exactly an expert in crafting stuff like boats. She was more suited to thievery and scam artistry back when she was still a criminal. She wondered if she had made a mistake coming along for this journey to the Digital World. Just then, the slime-like Digimon interrupted her train of thought.
"What'cha thinking about, pretty lady?", Numemon asked.
"...It's nothing", the green haired girl scoffed.
Linda then got up from her spot on the sand and walked off in a random direction. Numemon just stared and pondered, wondering what was wrong with his "friend", before shrugging and taking a bite out of one of the Orange Bananas he and the Heroine of Justice had gathered earlier.
Meanwhile, Nisa also watched as the green haired girl walked away. Although she had every intention to help Linda out of their predicament, she couldn't help but notice that the former criminal's attitude towards the self-proclaimed Heroine of Justice was something akin to that of indifference. The blue haired girl wondered if there was still some latent animosity towards her and everyone else she knew. But she was recently changing a new leaf, right? At least that's what her friend Nepgear had told her. Perhaps it wasn't something that could be accomplished in a single day.
Just then, as the Heroine of Justice was thinking on what to say to the former criminal next, something else caught her attention. Her makeshift fishing line was being tugged by something. Her eyes sparkled, believing that she may have hooked a fish.
"Bingo!", she exclaimed.
She then quickly yanked the rod back, hooking the mystery fish underneath the water. But right as she did that, she felt the light tug on her rod suddenly become harder. The blue haired girl got more excited as she maintained her grip on her rod.
"I think I hooked a big one!", said Nisa. "We're going to eat tonight!"
But as she tried to yank the line back towards her, she started to notice that something odd was occurring. It was as if the land was suddenly shifting. It wasn't until she looked down that she realized what was happening. The blue haired girl saw that it wasn't the land itself that was moving. It was her! Her body was being pulled towards the water. Whatever she had hooked, it was not only big, but also strong enough to practically drag her off of the land and into the water. The Heroine of Justice tried to plant her feet firmly into the sand, hoping that she would be able to gain a better grip, but it was no good. She just kept getting pulled in towards the open water.
"Uhh, guys? I don't want to alarm anyone, but I'm being dragged away!", she exclaimed.
Numemon, seeing what was happening, rushed over to Nisa's aid. He grabbed on to her legs as he helped pull her back towards the beach. But the unknown fish pulled back harder in retaliation. The line strained and the rod creaked as the immense force pushed both to their limit. Now the blue haired girl was panicking. She could let go of the rod right now and save herself the trouble of being pulled into the water by this mysterious fish. But she didn't want to let this catch slip away from, so she was determined to bring it towards land. But she knew that she could do this with just her strength alone. She needed help, and she needed it now.
"Grrr! Underling! Where are you? We need help!", Nisa called out.
A few yards away, Linda was still walking aimlessly when she her her nickname being called out to her, much to her irritation. She looked back behind her to see what the commotion was all about. When she saw that the blue haired girl and Numemon were struggling to pull in a fish in the water, she smirked in delight. On one hand, she was glad to see that they might finally get some meat on the island. On the other hand, however, she wanted to see the two get dragged into the water and laugh at them when it happens. Her growling stomach, however, made the decision for her.
"Ah hell...", she said to herself, not wanting to go hungry.
Running as quickly as she could, she made her way over to the struggling Nisa and Numemon, who were both on their last legs. Wrapping her arms around the Heroine of Justice's chest, she pulled hard, much to the blue haired girl's discomfort.
"Hey! Where are you grabbing?!", she asked.
"Shut up and keep pulling, you idiot!", shouted Linda.
They groaned and strained as all three pulled on the rod and line with all of their might as they struggled to stay on the beach. The unknown fish, however, seemingly fed up with whatever was holding it back so, jerked violently back and forth in the water. After a few more seconds, the three stranded individuals would lose their tug of war battle with their catch, as the force of the sudden maneuvering caused them to be pulled straight into the water by a few yards.
"Waaahhh!", they all exclaimed as they landed into the open water.
Submerged in the waves, the group had to move fast due to the lack of air in their lungs as a result of their unintentional dive. Breaching the surface, Nisa, Linda and Numemon all gasped for air as they floated atop the surface, coughing out the digital sea water as they struggled to breath.
"Well- cack! That went about as well as expected- cough!", Linda choked.
Nisa looked all round, hoping to find her makeshift rod and line. There was no sign of either one, however. Her rod and line were now lost at sea. The blue haired girl felt extremely disappointed, knowing that her hard work had been all for naught.
"Drat! Our first big bite, and it's the one that got away", she said sadly.
"Oh please, like you could catch anything at all", Linda scoffed.
Nisa, taken aback by this comment, formed a scowl on her face, indicating her annoyance.
"I'd like to see you do any better", the Heroine of Justice snapped back.
"Just because you're a self-proclaimed "Hero of Justice" doesn't mean jack squat when it comes to being trapped on an island", Linda scoffed.
"What's that supposed to mean?", asked Nisa, now getting visibly irritated by her former rival questioning her skills as a Heroine of Justice.
As the two girls argued, Numemon looked around the water, trying to see where the mystery fish had gone. He needn't look for long, however, as he saw something big move beneath the surface of the water. A light blue, streamlined body breached the surface for a few seconds before sinking beneath the waves. The slime Digimon's eyestalks widened in horror as he watched the unknown body move through the water. Whatever they had hooked before, it was no fish. And from what he could tell, it didn't appreciate being tricked by a fishing line. It was now angry, and it was coming for them. As the streamlined body got closer to the group, it started circling around them all as if closing in for a quick strike. Neither of the girls had noticed what was going on around them as they continued to argue with one another.
"You think you know everything, don't ya? Well guess what? You don't! You have no idea how we're gonna get off this island and find the others again!", Linda barked.
"At least I know well enough to try and do something to keep all of us alive!", Nisa yelled back.
At that point, a large body started to rise up behind the two bickering girls, but none of them saw this yet. Numemon, on the other hand, did notice, and he was terrified, so much so that he struggled to utter a single sentence.
"Um, g-g-guys...?", he said, only for his words to fall on deaf ears.
"And look where that's gotten us so far! Hungry, wet, and miserable!", the green haired girl shouted.
"What about you? I haven't seen you do anything to help our situation since we got here!", the Heroine of Justice snapped back.
"Guys?", said Numemon again, but to no avail.
"Well maybe I don't want to help out! Maybe I want to stay stranded! Ever think of that?!", Linda exclaimed.
"Oh you haven't changed one bit, haven't you?! You're just the same stubborn girl that worked for ASIC all those years ago!", Nisa roared.
"Guys!", the slime Digimon said, raising his voice.
"WHAT?!", both girls yelled out, finally turning their attention to him.
But before he could explain what was going on, a large shadow loomed over the group, causing both girls to stop arguing all at once and turn around slowly to see what was happening. When they did, however, their eyes practically went wide with horror as they looked up at what had risen from beneath the waves. It was a monster unlike anything they had seen in Gameindustri before. The creature responsible for casting a shadow over them had a yellow head with a light blue serpentine-like body, a white underbelly stretching along the same length, and two large fins on opposite sides of its body. It had a pair of light blue eyes, and its light blue body had a few red stripes that went side to side. The serpent-like creature hissed angrily at the three as he stared at them with a hungry look in its eyes.
"...Ohhh... yeah, that's bad...", Linda finally remarked after a few seconds.
The sea serpent then roared at them, with both girls and Numemon screaming in terror as a result, before the creature thrusted itself towards their position, diving into the water between them all. The force of it crashing into the water caused the waves to push everyone away from each other. Underneath the water the creature circled beneath them, wondering which one of the group to pick off first.
Nisa was now afraid for her life. As if being stranded on an island alone with who is perhaps the most annoying girl she has ever known in her life wasn't already bad enough, now they had to deal a hungry sea serpent that had most likely mistaken her bait for a snack. Realizing that she was doomed if she stayed in the water, the Heroine of Justice quickly made a break for land as she swam to shore. But as she did so, she saw that both Linda and Numemon were still stuck in the water, as if fear had taken ahold of them and didn't want to let go. Unwilling to leave them behind, she swam back towards the pair.
"Underling! Numemon! Come on! Swim over to me!", she called out to them.
"No way! I don't need saving from you, of all people!", Linda argued.
"This isn't the time or place to argue! C'mon!", yelled the blue haired girl.
Just then, the sea serpent that had appeared before them suddenly breached the water again, ready to sink his jaws on the two girls. Both of them had horrified looks on their faces as everything seemed to happen in slow motion. They could only watch as the monster lunged at the pair of girls, ready to eat them both alive. But as it lowered its head, something flew right into its face, causing it to become agitated and cancel its strike. It looked like a piece of pink sludge had just hit the creature. Both girls turned their heads to see none other than Numemon, who was holding another piece of pink sludge in his limb.
"There's more where that came from!", he exclaimed.
He then tossed the other pink sludge at the sea serpent, pelting it in the face like before. The creature did not like this and dove straight back into the safety of the water. The two girls could not believe their luck. Using this opportunity given to them by the slime Digimon, they swam towards the direction of the island, with Numemon slowly trailing after them. After an agonizing minute, both Nisa and Linda made it to the safety of sallow water, where they believed that they would be safe. They panted heavily as they gathered their wits, feeling very fortunate that they were able to make it back to shore in one piece.
But the danger was far from over, however, as when they turned around to look for Numemon, they saw that he was lagging behind. Given that he was more of a slug than a fish, he was not adept at swimming like a human or even an actual fish. To make matters even worse, the two girls could see the shadow of the sea serpent cruising towards the slime Digimon beneath the water. At any moment, he would become seafood for the beast.
"Numemon, it's coming up behind you!", cried Nisa.
"Get out of there, you dumbass!" added Linda.
The slime Digimon moved as fast as he possibly could, only daring to move one of his eyestalks backwards to see how close the sea monster was to catching him. He shrieked in terror as he swam faster than ever, before finally, he reached the safety of the shallow waters. The shadow of the sea serpent in the water turned away, irritated that its prey had managed to give it the slip. As it swam away from the island and towards deeper waters, both girls could see what they assumed was the creatures tail breaching the surface, as a red leaf-like tip splashed the water before diving back into the ocean, disappearing into the murky depths below.
Meanwhile, Numemon panted heavily as he reached the sandy shore of the beach, kissing the ground the moment he reached dry land.
"I'm never leaving you again! Never ever!", he said frantically.
Both Nisa and Linda were relieved that all three of them were alive and well. But it didn't change the fact that their problems had now only gotten worse. Not only were they stuck on an island in what seemed like the loneliest part of the Digital World, but they were practically trapped with a giant sea serpent living in the water around them, who would like nothing more than to feast upon them the moment they try to make a break for open water. Needless to say it was a harrowing revelation for them all.
"Well, that's just great. Now the ocean wants to kill us", Linda grumbled loudly.
"Oh quit complaining... At least we're alive...", stated Nisa.
"Are you kidding me? I'm now hungry, wet, tired, miserable, angry, I've got nothing but complaints!", shouted the green haired girl.
"Be thankful that we even got of that mess at all! Or are you still so bullheaded that you can't even thank someone for trying to save your life?", the Heroine of Justice argued.
"I didn't need you to save me at all! I could've gotten out of there all on my own!", the former criminal snapped back.
"Like how you tried to help reel in that monstrosity? For an Underling, you sure suck at your job!", Nisa fired off.
"And that's another thing: Quit calling me Underling! My name is Linda! L, I, N, D, A! Linda! GET IT RIGHT, DUMBASS!", the green haired girl yelled back.
Both girls growled angrily at one another as sparks could be seen flying in between the pair. Numemon, watching the scene play out, feared that it was about to come to blows between the two. Acting quickly, he got in between the them before the situation could escalate any further.
"Stop it! Stop fighting! Pretty friends shouldn't fight one another! It's not right!", he exclaimed.
The two girls just stared at the slime Digimon in confusion for a moment before facing each other again, their faces twisting back into angry expressions once again. The two of them stared each other down for what seemed like an eternity before Linda, finally breaking the silence, snorted before sighing in irritation.
"You know, I don't have to take this", she said finally.
The green haired girl then turned around and stormed off in a random direction, much to the dismay of Nisa, who wasn't done with the former.
"Where are you going?", she called out.
"To where I can be alone for a while!", Linda shouted back without even looking behind her.
Nisa could not believe what had just happened. Here she was, trying to help out her former rival, and this was the thanks she gets for doing so? Never had she felt such frustration towards another person before now. As she watched the former criminal walk away from her, the Heroine of Justice growled furiously before she angrily kicked at the sand beneath her feet.
"Fine! See if I care! Next time your life is in danger, don't bother calling for me to help you!" she yelled indignantly.
She then stormed off in the other direction opposite of Linda, leaving Numemon all alone on the beach. The slime Digimon drooped in sadness, unsure of where he went wrong or what to do now.
"This stinks. And not the good kind of stinky either...", he said sadly.
Poor Numemon now felt miserable, wishing he was now back at the sewer where Linda had found him. He wondered how long it will be until the two girls could get over their differences between one another and figure a way out of the island before they either tear each other apart or become devoured by an angry sea serpent waiting for them out in the open water. He would sit there on the beach, soaking up the rays from the Digital World's sun, trying to think of a way to bring the two girls back together again.
Somewhere out in the open ocean, far away from the island the group was trapped on, a small fleet of ships were sailing across the water. Each one of them was made entirely of metal, and had a strange symbol on their sides. A closer look would reveal that they were none other than vessels controlled by the D-Brigade.
They were escorting a convoy of cargo ships that were centered within the formation of other ships, which were outfitted with large cannons and guns that could decimate a small village. But they were not on a seek-and-destroy mission. Instead they were tasked with escorting the cargo ships as they make their way for the mainland. Although they were on standby, the armed ships were always ready to go into battle at any time and any place. For now, though, all was quiet, except for the waves that crashed against the bows of the vessels.
In the middle of the fleet was a larger battleship, which was painted in red. It had two large batteries with three barrels at the front, while at the rear on the sides were two gigantic cannons with extremely long barrels that looked like they could fire across half of the entire Digital World. In contrast it looked like a large aircraft carrier with oversized guns, but its very presence was commanding. Needless to say it was a clear indication that this very ship was the flagship of the small fleet.
In the center was a large tower, which acted as the command bridge. Inside were a bunch of Commandramon working in tandem with one another, constantly making adjustments to their instruments and making sure that the ship stayed on course to where ever they or the fleet was going. They were also monitoring communications both inside and outside of the ship, as well as the rest of the other ships, checking on each other's progress and making sure that nothing was going wrong. So far everything seemed to be running smoothly.
Just then, a sliding door opened up, a taller figure stepping into the command bridge. He sported a long tail, wore dark grey armor that covered his whole body, a combat knife sheathed on his chest, and a crested helmet that had a clear eye piece on the left side, while the right side had a red cybernetic eye connected to it. It was Sealsdramon, one of the D-Brigade's elite soldiers. Some of the Commandramon who saw him approaching saluted as he entered the bridge. As he walked through the room and observed everyone working at their stations, one of the grunt Digimon approached him.
"Sir, all ships have reported in. No sign of any enemy activity, and we are on course for the mainland", he said.
"Good", the elite Digimon replied. "The sooner we get this cargo delivered, the sooner we can get back to some real action."
He then dismissed the Commandramon, who nodded in compliance, as he walked to the front window of the bridge. As he peered through the glass panel before him and observed both the bow of the ship he was on and the ocean in front of him, there was a lot of things on the elite Digimon's mind.
It had been some time since his disastrous encounter with a certain black armored individual that the D-Brigade had dubbed as the "Enforcer." He nearly had one of the CPUs and their Digimon at his mercy, until the unexpected arrival of the black armored being had forced them to abandon their mission, but not before losing nearly half of the forces that were with him that day. And now there were reports that a mining town in Magma Plains had been overrun by rebellious Digimon, with reports of the sector's commander Megadramon being destroyed as well. He had no doubt that this too was the fault of the CPUs who had entered their world. Not even a week had passed and already the Goddesses and their Digimon allies were causing trouble for him and the rest of the D-Brigade.
As a result of this setback, he and much of the D-Brigade military were forced to step up their security efforts all across the Digital World. Although they controlled most of the Digital World already, the incident at Magma Plains had left quite an impact on their social standing in the eyes of the public. If the CPUs from the other world were able to incite a rebellion in a small town and succeed in driving out their forces from it, then they more than capable of destroying everything the D-Brigade had worked towards. Worse still, they could threaten their very existence as a whole. For an elite soldier like Sealsdramon, this was not acceptable. Fortunately their benefactor, known only to them as "Mr. A.", was already devising a way to stop these CPUs and their Digimon allies for good. But Sealsdramon had plans of his own.
When he encountered one of the CPUs back in a desert canyon, he had managed to scan a device they had with his cybernetic eye. Apparently it was called a Digivice, and from what little information he could gather, such a contraption was capable of giving a Digimon the power to Digivolve at will, a process that takes a long time for a normal Digimon to undergo. If he could somehow replicate this technology for the D-Brigade, they would be one step closer to creating an army of unstoppable power. With such a power at their disposal, nothing in the Digital World, or any world for that matter, would be able to stop the D-Brigade from achieving ultimate victory. It would be glorious.
Just then, as he continued to gaze through the window and stare out into open ocean, a noise had interrupted his train of thought. Turning his head to see what it was, he saw one of the Commandramon fiddling around at the communications station. Noticing Sealsdramon's eyes had laid upon him, he gestured his commanding officer to approach his station, to which he did, as he wanted to know what the commotion was about.
"Report", he ordered.
"Sir, long range radar has detected a large storm across the open ocean, heading north towards the western edge of the mainland", the grunt responded.
"That's almost right along our travel path. What kind of storm is it?", Sealsdramon inquired.
"A typhoon, sir. In four hours we predict that it will intercept our fleet", said the Commandramon.
The elite Digimon placed a hand on his chin, understanding the risks of what was going to happen if they remained on their current course. If they continued down their current heading they would most certainly be ravaged by the storm. Although the flagship was more than capable of withstanding the fury of such a powerful storm, some of the other vessels, particularly the cargo ships that they were escorting, were not built for such extreme weather conditions. It was then that he made the decision to move the fleet in a different direction before they can be intercepted by the storm.
"Inform the fleet of what is to come and to change their heading to these following coordinates", he said.
He then started inputting a new set of numbers into the ships navigation computer, which would take them towards a path behind the storm after it has passed. He then sent the coordinates to the Commandramon at the communications station, who nodded in compliance.
"Aye, sir. Sending the message to the fleet immediately", the grunt Digimon said.
Sealsdramon then returned to the front window of the command bridge, staring out into the open water, as he resumed his train of thought. From there he would begin devising ways on how to replicate the Digivolution technology the CPUs had, and what he could do to obtain such a power, not only for himself, but for the entire D-Brigade as a whole.
While he pondered on this, the navigation computer on the bridge calculated the new set of coordinates that were given to it by the elite Digimon. On the screen, a wide-range display showed exactly where both the flagship and the fleet were. Many miles away from their current position was where the typhoon was, depicting and predicting the storm's travel path. Ominously, in it's route was a small and insignificant island that was believed to have no inhabitants living on it whatsoever.
Neither Sealsdramon nor the rest of the D-Brigade within the fleet had any idea that this was the very same island that three of the CPUs allies were trapped on. And not a single one of them knew about the storm that would be coming for them...
Oh great, another chapter that was supposed to be a single chapter, but is now another two part for a certain group of characters. I really need to stop doing this to myself sometimes, as this is starting to become a pattern.
But yeah, if you were hoping that Nisa and Linda would be able to get along with each other, you'd be wrong. I always pictured these two being at odds with one another, as they both represent two sides of one coin, so to speak. And despite Linda's attempts to reform in this story, it's going to be quite the long process, especially considering that she's going to be stuck with a self-proclaimed Heroine of Justice for a while.
Also, anyone who's familiar with a certain ship seen in Digimon World 3 may know exactly what that flagship is during the scene with the fleet of D-Brigade ships. ;)
And poor Numemon, having to deal with such polar opposites on that island. Don't blame him one bit, nor do I envy him. A shame, though, that none of them realize what's coming... Hehehehehe, hahahahaha, HAHAHAHAHAHAHA- Gack, ack, cough! Ack-
[One Coughing Fit Later]
Ahem... Sorry about that.
Anyway, as mentioned previously, be on the lookout for any dodgy PMs or reviews. If it looks like it's a scam, then it probably is. Don't click nothing, don't interact with them. Just report, block, and move on.
And if you liked this chapter, let me know what you thought about it in the review section, and be sure to follow for more updates in the future. And who knows? I might have some new ideas for new stories in mind one day.
Until next time guys!
