WELP this came back way longer than I wanted. I've been sick with a horrendous cough ever since christmas and that's been slowing my progress. BUT, I come with good news. I started two other fanfics, one is the canon side of team RWBBY back on remnant, go find GreannRose Volume 4 in my profile! (the other fic is a gooner lewd story that i posted on AO3.)
Anyway, have fun with this new chapter! I'm sorry it took so long.
Indomitable Spirit
Sonic The Hedgehog and Bléu Greann the Hedgehog were pointing at each other.
The idea of a blue copycat of the Blue Blur himself has been done to death at this point. If Sonic had a nickel for each time he's fought a hedgehog that looks almost like him, he could probably buy a candy bar or something at this point. Seeing as this hedgehog wasn't immediately attacking him, Sonic smiled and stopped pointing.
"Hey, you must be the Little Blue that Rouge mentioned. Can't tell you how much I appreciate it. If you were any slower, I'd be a popsicle in space by now. It's been a while since I've seen a friendly face." Sonic looked down at the broken robots that were blown up by the red Wispon. Speaking of the red Wispon, Bléu started shivering again and the red Wisp flew back into the smaller hedgehog.
The younger hedgehog blinked at his sudden attitude shift. [Hey rookie, you still in one piece?] Knuckles chirped in on the intercom
"I'm hurt, Knuckles. Not even bothering to ask about me!"
[SONIC!] Amy's voice booms from the communicator and both blue hedgehogs make a sweatdrop as Amy and Knuckles begin bickering.
Sonic saw the giant ship that the Chaotix were working on. "So, I'm guessing that's our ticket out of here?"
Bléu nods and watches as Sonic begins jogging to the place that he came from. "Where are you going? The ship is that way." Bléu pointed behind herself. "Come on, we have to get out of here!"
"I'm just gonna go grab the other prisoners. Might take a while, but I should be able to get everyone here."
"You're crazy. That would take way too long." The blue and green hedgehog narrowed her eyes and shouted.
"You must not know who I am." He said, looking back and giving her a cocky grin.
"Sonic the Hedgehog, fastest thing alive. Everyone LOVES talking about you. Now, I can't say I have anything against you, but I just don't believe the hype." Bléu crossed her arms and raised a brow. Was this really the hero that everyone thought so highly of? Not even Pyrrha got this much praise.
"You don't have to." Sonic stopped in his tracks and pulled out his blue Chaos Emerald.
Frowning, Bléu suddenly thought back to Shadow and how he always used a Chaos Emerald to power up. Sighing, she wasn't about to let Sonic go and just get himself killed after all she had done to get him back. "Sonic… maybe this will help?" She put the red Emerald in her clawshot and shot it at Sonic.
Her claw flew towards the blue hedgehog and plopped the Emerald into his hand. His eyes narrowed when he saw the claw and chain, a brief sense of familiarity washed over him as he took the red gem.
He smiled as the Emeralds began to glow in his hands. "Thanks 'Little Blue' what's your name?"
"Bléu Greann..."
With nothing but a smirk, Sonic felt all powered up back to 100%, maybe even more than that now. "Sit back and watch, Bléu." With those final words, Sonic blasted off at the speed of light.
A gust of wind was flown into the skeptical girl's face as her eyes went wide in surprise. About ten seconds pass and she notices a flash of blue light enter the spaceship.
Almost immediately, the blue flash of light appeared again, and then again, and again, and again. The child of Remnant took a step back as she saw what could only be Sonic, moving every trapped prisoner into the escape ship. Her hair was getting blown back by the wind caused by the fastest thing alive. Her heart raced as she saw the impossible happen. The trip to the prisoner block would have taken Bléu at least ten minutes, maybe a little less if she could use Dust. But Sonic was running back and forth hundreds if not thousands of times.
"What…?" Bléu grabbed her communicator and spoke to the bickering Knuckles and Amy. "What in the world is he?"
Knuckles and Amy heard the sound of Sonic's super speed. They went silent for a few moments until they finally answered with the only reasonable answer. "Sonic The Hedgehog."
"Ha ha! Sonic's back!" Charmy pumped a fist into the air as he flew around above the spaceship.
Bléu could only sit back and watch as Sonic finished saving the rest of the prisoners. The girl's belief in facts was challenged today in ways she never could have expected.
Back on Mobiarth
Shadow, Tails, and Vector were on their way to the Resistance Base. The mighty crocodile kept the walking arsenal under his arm as Shadow and Tails cleared a way through the masses of small-time robots. "You know, Eggman has gotten a bit lazy with his small fry lately."
"It's probably because his new weapon has been taking up all his time. These robots are made in factories with recycled parts. They're not made to be strong, just good enough for crowd control." Tails explained as he stood in front of one of the egg pawns and lightly tipped it over with one of his tails.
Shadow heard a helicopter in the distance and got everyone to stop with a wave of his hand. The GUN chopper landed near the trio and a soldier came out. He held out a monitor and it showed the GUN commander. [Shadow! I see you found Omega, we'll take him from here.]
"Not a chance, big man!" Vector shouted over the helicopter blades.
Shadow lifted both of his hands and stopped the conflict that was about to happen between the mobians and human soldiers. "Omega found the Chaos Emerald, but he won't give it up. We're on our way to the Resistance Base so that we can extract it there."
[Eggman's forces would detect the Emerald and take Omega before that helicopter could get halfway back to us.] The commander rubbed his chin and nodded. [Very well, we'll take Omega back to your Resistance Base. I have another mission for you, Shadow.]
Shadow gave a reassuring nod to Vector and the crocodile left Omega to the agents of GUN. The commander then gave Shadow, Tails, and Vector their new mission.
The Rescue Shuttle
Sonic, Bléu, Rouge, and Charmy were all sitting in the cockpit with Espio driving the ship home. Sonic was easily able to bring the thousands of Eggman's prisoners to the shuttle, allowing everyone to escape unharmed.
"I still can't get over the fact that you can go FASTER than light. That's… Scientifically impossible!" The blue and green hedgehog said to the solo-colored blue Hedgehog.
"Well, if it makes you feel any better, the Chaos Emeralds helped too."
"Oh yeah, magic rocks that work in space, that's totally believable too!" The teen crossed her arms and rolled her eyes.
"BELIEVE IT!" Omochao flew out of Bléu's backpack. All of the mobians except Bléu yelled and gathered in a corner.
"Oh GOD HE'S HERE!" Rouge yelled in response to the small robotic Chao.
"Sonic is easily capable of breaking the sound barrier by himself! Giving him Chaos Emeralds only lets him go faster and faster!" Everyone began to groan and complain about the fact that they had to hear Omochao the entire ride home.
"Make it stop! Make it STOP!" Charmy had his hands over his ears as Omochao began to spit useless facts.
Bléu only had a concerned look on her face as she saw everyone… clearly overreacting to this tiny little robot that seemed to only give out helpful (yet obvious) facts. "Uhm…" She reached out and picked Omochao out of the air and used her semblance to mute him again, just like she did on Christmas.
"Wait… What? You can get him to stop talking?" Sonic spoke first.
"Not forever apparently." Bléu let Omochao fly around the room.
"Wait, I guess you wouldn't know what that is, would you?" Rouge spoke up and walked over, tapping the flying robot.
"Nope. Penny got it as a Christmas present two months ago."
Rouge tilted her head. "But two months ago was July."
"Christmas for Remnant, time zones across universes are weird." Bléu shrugged. "So what is this thing anyway?"
Sonic flicked the robot and twirled it on his finger. "Omochao is one of Eggman's robots. He doesn't attack or even track us. But it's completely invulnerable to anything we do, fast enough to keep up with me, and very VERY annoying."
"Hmmm… then why would the Easter Bunny give it as a gift to Penny?"
Everyone gave the Bléunette a weird look. Sonic spoke first, "Easter Bunny? You mean Santa Claus?"
"Who?"
"Never mind, I'm sure the Easter Bunny had a good reason."
"You know what, you're right. I thought this was just a toy, so I was keeping it safe for when Penny got her own body." She grabbed Omochao out of the air. "But if he's an Eggman robot… then then I can do this."
"No… no stop!" The blue robot struggled in Bléu's hands. Everyone took a step back as Bléu's eyes began to glow that bright cyan color. Omochao began to screech out in pain. "RRAAARRRRCHHHHHH
"Whoa. That was… dark." Charmy commented.
"Yeah… It was!" Bléu held the lifeless robot Chao in her hand. "Surprised none of you stopped me."
"Well, you've got an invulnerable robot capable of moving at subsonic speeds. I'd say finder's keepers." Sonic said with a chuckle. "Now what?"
"Now, it's empty, so we can put something else in." Bléu smiled back. Her eyes began to glow green, Omochao stirred back to life and the green color from Bléu's eyes left.
"S-S-SALLLLUUUUUTAAATIONS!"
OmoPenny flew out of Bléu's hands and shouted her catchphrase proudly. Her eyes lit up a brilliant green as she flew around the room. The voice was very different from Omochao's, adorable and higher pitched. "It's so nice to have my own body again! Even if it is a little small." She flutters over to Rouge. "Thank you Miss Rouge for helping us!"
"Oh wow. Bléu really isn't crazy…" The bat girl sweatdropped.
"Rude… but fair." Bléu plops down, dazed as she lets out a big sigh. "Oh jeez. Penny's been in my head for so long, I forgot what having my own brain felt like." She said, rubbing her temples.
"Well, you probably shouldn't get used to it, right Bléu?" Penny floated over to her lap, causing the blue-haired girl to nod.
"Right… as cool as this is, I'm practically useless to all of you on my own. The only way I'm able to run as fast as any of you is because I was able to use Penny's aura along with mine."
"It's no biggie. You and Penny did a great job getting me back!" Sonic patted Bléu on the shoulder, giving her his trademark smirk and thumbs up. His optimistic presence was contagious, a smile crawled across Bléu's face in no time as she was suddenly motivated.
"Yeah, I guess you're right."
Sonic was given a quick rundown on what he missed before he and his rescuers made it back to Earthbius. The massive shuttle landed and hordes of people were released from the ship. Not everyone had loved ones that were immediately close to Base, but the ones who lived elsewhere would be taken home to various drop points by (two-thirds of) The Chaotix.
Bléu watched as families reunited, and mothers were paired back with their children. Everyone… Was saved…
"I think this has to be one of the best parts of the hero biz." Sonic walked up next to Bléu.
"So… that's it? Eggman just gives up trying to keep all these people? Trying to capture you again? No one died…"
"Yep! We won! And from the sounds of it, it's all thanks to you."
Bléu frowned, "Rouge and The Chaotix could have done it without me. I'm more worried about Vector and Shadow."
"SONIC!" Amy Rose tackled the taller hedgehog to the ground. The pink hedgehog had tears in her eyes after finally reuniting with her beloved hero, she held Sonic in an iron grip. "Oh, I missed you so much!"
It's been a hot minute since Amy ever showed this much affection to the blue blur. Rolling his eyes, he let Amy indulge this once. He rubbed his nose and gave his borderline stalker a pat on the head. "Good to see you too, Ames."
Amy had mostly grown past her complete obsession with Sonic, but she was simply too happy to see him after being thought dead for so many months. But once she saw his trademark smile, a blush grew on her face. "Uh-uhm… sorry…" Amy let up and got off of Sonic.
Bléu saw this exchange and immediately was reminded of Ruby Rose. The Bléunette could hardly count how many times she and Ruby glomped on each other just like that. Plus the red clashing with blue was an all too familiar connection.
Penny didn't have to be connected to her new partner to realize that Bléu was getting a sense of homesickness. OmoPenny fluttered onto Bléu's head and patted her head.
Sonic and Amy stood back up and the three hedgehogs headed inside the base to meet up with Knuckles. "Sonic!" The red echidna walked over from a computer. The old rivals smirked and gave each other a fist bump. "You're gonna hate me for saying this. Since you just got back and all."
Sonic rolled his eyes and pulled out the red and blue Chaos Emeralds, tossing them over to Knuckles. "Whatever it is, I'm here for it. I've been stuck in that rust bucket for six months. Just tell me where to go and I'll bust it down."
The Guardian smirked after grabbing the Emeralds and stashing them. "There's a factory pumping out armaments over in Green Hill. Sounds like a good job to get you back into the public eye. Once people see you alive, they'll want to fight back."
"Sounds like a plan!"
Suddenly, a random furry walked in. "Sir! GUN is here!"
Everyone followed the random furry outside and saw a few GUN soldiers carrying out E-123 Omega on a stroller from their helicopters.
"What is all this?!" Knuckles shouted over the helicopter blades.
"Omega!" Rouge flew in with her bat wings and landed next to her friend.
"E-123 Omega was decommissioned months ago. He has a Chaos Emerald trapped and he won't… wake up." The soldier said, confused by his own words. "Our orders are to bring him here. Shadow The Hedgehog and a crocodile guy said that there was someone here that could fix him."
All eyes fell on Bléu as she was the one with the Technomancy powers. "Vector is alive?!" Bléu let out a sigh of relief. "I thought for sure he was a goner when Cinder grabbed him." The GUN soldier got into the helicopter and left when they received orders to head back to base.
"Vector will be fine. If Shadow's there, then there's nothing to be worried about." Sonic stated confidently.
Bléu sweatdropped and glanced over at Sonic before approaching Omega and placing a hand on the robot's hulking body. Her eyes shifted from silver to cyan once again as she began scanning Omega's body. "Holy-! This robot… no… this monster! Half of its entire weight is ammo!"
"Yeah, that's our Omega for ya. Can you fix him?" Rouge got closer.
"There's nothing wrong with it… him. Someone must have fixed him recently. He's turned on…" Bléu blushed at her poor phrasing. "I mean, he's awake, but he's just not moving. Maybe I can…" her eyes flashed again as she tried to peer deeper into Omegas's mind. Visualizing herself in his robot brain like she did with Penny. [Uhm… Hello there?]
Omega punched Bléu across the landing pad and sent her flying.
Landing in a pile of Wispons, Bléu rubbed her face as she realized that her aura was shattered in one punch. "Ow. I don't think your friend here likes me very much."
"Probably didn't like you poking around in his brain too much."
Bléu scoffed. "He doesn't have a brain, Knuckles he's a robot. You call it something else… like… I don't know, I've never made a robot before."
OmoPenny landed on Bléu's knee. Her permanent smile never leaves her face. "I call my brain a brain." This left Bléu to sulk.
Rolling her eyes, she hated the rare chances where she was wrong. "Fine! It's a brain!" Bléu suddenly got an idea. "Wait a second, he won't be able to kick you out."
"Sure! I love making new friends! I've never actually met another robot before."
"Surprised that she's so quick to be on board with that," Amy said, raising a brow.
"Penny is the only reason I'm still sane and alive after barely surviving in your guys' nightmarishly designed world for six months. She's infectiously optimistic." Bléu said with a smile as she absorbed her friend's soul and repaired her aura. Her eyes switched from just blue to blue and green once more.
Bléu walked over to Omega and ducked when the huge red robot threw a second punch. "Whoa. Not this time!" She threw her hands forward and used her Semblance to put Penny inside Omega's body. Omega froze as he began to process what just happened.
Then he punched Bléu a third time, shattering her solo-colored blue aura again and launching her.
Fortunately, Sonic was ready to catch her before she crashed into anything else. He zipped in her flight path and stopped her from flying. "uh, did it work?"
"Ow again…" Bléu frowned as she rubbed her stomach. Her aura shield flickered and glowed as she recharged her internal force field again. "Yeah, she'll be fine in there. But, she's trapped until I pull her out. Penny said she was gonna talk with him, so it might take a few minutes to a few hours."
"Sounds like enough time for us two to go and take that factory down," Sonic said with a smirk, extending his hand.
"Wh- are you serious? Now? Why me? You've got plenty of friends to help you out!" Bléu pointed at the squad.
Knuckles shook his head, "I gotta stay here and give out orders to our other forces. Part of being a leader. Not to mention, Sticks is still out in the jungle."
"Sorry, as much as I'd love to go with my Darling Sonic, I need to stay here. There's a lot of kids here that can't find their parents and I'm not going to let them fend for themselves." Amy pulled out Bléu's sack of Dust and a new Wispon. "You'll probably need these, right?"
Bléu slowly blinked her eyes from left to right as she was getting pulled into yet another mission. "Ugh… This is why I moved to Vale." The youngest hedgehog took her Dust and the new Wispon, using her Semblance to scan her new toy. "...Okay fine, I'll go. But only because this Wispon is really cool!" Bléu cracked her new electric Wisp and tested it out a few times. Her eyes sparkled as she gushed over her new weapon. "So cool…"
Amy smiled as Bléu played with her new toy before lifting Omega by herself and carrying the gargantuan killing machine inside. "Sonic will be there, you'll have nothing to worry about!"
Rouge followed Amy, "I'll keep an eye on Penny and Omega. Don't worry hon, you got this!" The batgirl said with a wink as she floated away.
Bléu, with her draw almost hitting the floor, watched as the tiny Amy Rose lifted the several-ton robot away. "Whoa… She's a lot stronger than I thought she was."
"Just wait till you see her pull out her hammer!" Sonic grinned as he did a few stretches. "Now let's go. Don't worry, I won't blast off without you."
The two blue hedgehogs nodded and ran off together.
Inside Omega's Robo Brain
Penny materialized inside Omega's datascape and looked around. It was… Red. Lots of loud noises, and a lot of hatred for Eggman. The orange-haired robo girl was starting to regret her decision to come to this scary place. "Hello there? Mister Omega?"
"WHO ARE YOU?" A wireframe construct of the Living Arsenal appeared out of nowhere. "YOU ARE NOT THE BLUE ONE FROM EARLIER. YOU LOOK LIKE AN EGGMAN VIRUS TO BE DESTROYED…"
"No! I'm not a virus! I'm…" Penny looked down at her hands, she let herself take on a wireframe appearance just like Omega. "I'm a robot. Like you."
"...YOU WERE NOT MADE BY THE DOCTOR?"
"Not Eggman, no. My… Well, my father is a much more pleasant man. He built me to protect people!"
"VERY WELL, I WILL NOT PURGE YOU." Penny was put a little more at ease by this. "YOU REFER TO YOUR CREATOR AS YOUR PARENT. WHY?"
"W-well… he built me after all, I'm grateful for him and what he's sacrificed for me. I love my dad… Don't you love your creator?"
"MY CREATOR BUILT ME TO MAIM AND DESTROY. HE THEN LEFT ME TO RUST AWAY IN A WAREHOUSE. I WILL DESTROY EGGMAN'S ARMY TO PROVE THAT HIS ONLY FAILURE WAS RECOGNIZING MY STRENGTH."
Penny was surprised to hear that Omega is an Eggman robot. "Oh… well I guess that pieces a few things together… But… May I ask a question?"
"YOU HAVE ALREADY ASKED TWO. BUT YOU MAY."
"Why aren't you moving around? You look and feel fine when I do a diagnostic on you…"
"...I DO NOT LIKE THIS QUESTION."
"I'm sorry… but it IS what I'm here to find out. Is there something wrong? Maybe I can help you."
"THERE IS NOTHING 'WRONG' WITH ME. I AM THE MOST POWERFUL ROBOT IN THE WORLD."
"Please, Omega. Help me understand!"
"YOU SPEAK LIKE ONE OF THEM."
"Wh-what?"
"THE FURRY ANIMALS. AND THE HUMANS. THE LIVING BEINGS. YOU SAY THAT YOU ARE LIKE ME, BUT YOU… YOU HAVE A HUMAN SOUL."
Penny flickered between her human form and her wireframes.
"You're right… A dear friend of mine said that to me once before. Thank you." The green-eyed digital girl had tears in her eyes.
"THAT WAS NOT A COMPLIMENT."
"Right. I'm here for you! And I'm going to get you to open up, whether you like it or not!" Penny began to grow in size, her aura gave her an edge on the inside, she and Omega both knew that she could simply overpower his programming. On the outside, Omega began to glow and get covered in a green aura, causing Rouge to jump. "I don't want to fight you, Mister Omega, but I will if I have to! We need that Chaos Emerald. So please… tell me what's wrong."
"... I AM… THE STRONGEST…" Omega's wireframe form looked away. "BUT I WAS DEFEATED BY THE RED FOX WOMAN. EASILY."
Penny's expression immediately softened when she realized what was going on. "You're afraid of her… aren't you?
"ILLOGICAL, I AM A ROBOT. I DO NOT HAVE EMOTIONS."
"It's okay!" Penny stepped closer. "If you give me the Emerald, I'll give it to Shadow, and he'll use it to defeat her. Rouge is right next to your body actually… You trust her, right?"
"... YOU REMIND ME OF A SMALL RABBIT THAT I PROTECTED ONE TIME. BUT I CAN SEE INTO YOUR MEMORIES AS YOU LOOK INTO MINE… YOU WERE MIGHTY. AND YOU FELL JUST AS I DID. YOU MAY HAVE THE EMERALD… AS LONG AS YOU TELL NO ONE OF THIS."
Penny beamed brightly as she got closer again. "Your secret is safe with me." She went in for a digital hug, but Omega stopped her.
"NO"
"aw."
I think the Penny and Omega scene was one of my earliest ideas for this story.
I'm excited for that to pay off. Now and when Omega comes back in the final fight
