Shortly after Tails and Wave had their first night of sex.
"So, you went and did it." Wave jumped on her spot. Behind her, was Jet the Hawk. How long had he been there? She was packing several suitcases, all with as much of her stuff as possible.
She returned to what she was doing. "I told you it would happen. Sooner or later. You have been bringing the boards to Tails' home. I am planning on crashing there. I can still take care of them there." Wave explained.
"Oh good! You have been a pain since forever. Storm and I will be so much more comfortable." Jet said. This pissed Wave more than she would have liked to admit.
"Yeah. I will finally go to someone who is actually smart enough to truly appreciate me. I don't know why I thought I would even miss you." She replied.
"Hope you don't get bored with that Goodie Goodie two shoes."
"Oh, you would wish you could make life half as exciting as he does."
"And she leaves without giving any notice. A good teammate would totally do that. And make sure everything else is in good condition. Do you have any idea how hard it is to find another fly type Babylonian Extreme Gear rider?"
"I told you about my decision months ago. You knew it was coming! And don't worry! Everything from the blimp, the engine room, computers and Extreme Gears are in perfect condition! Even you idiots should be able to be fine for months, enough time to find a replacement for me!" Something about that confused Storm.
"How thoughtful of you. Thank you!" Jet kept his aggressive tone despite the kind words.
"You were not horrible as brothers either!" Wave matched the energy.
"Hey!" Storm called to them.
"What?! Can't you see we are trying to be mean to one another so this hurts less?!" Both answered in unison.
"You went and fixed the engine… After having sex with the fox and supposedly becoming 'stained'. Even though it has a DNA auten… auten… thingies so only Babylonians can enter?" Storm asked, scratching his head. There was an awkward silence before both of them realized, yeah, something was wrong.
They went to the engine room, the Babylonian authentication mechanism was working correctly, yet Wave was able to open it. But, she shouldn't. Not after having slept with the fox, a non Babylon.
Not that long after Storm arrived with a device, a bird head with a long small transparent tube attached below it filled with a colourless liquid. They opened the bird head mouth and Wave introduced her finger. She felt a sting on it, as the machine extracted a drop of blood that fell into the liquid. Said liquid shone a strong green.
"You are still Babylonian." Jet said in disbelief.
"But how… unless…"
"So, I just put the finger and…" Tails repeated the instructions his bird friends had told him. He winced when it took his drop of blood. Then, after the liquid touched the blood, it turned blue, a weak blue, but blue nonetheless.
"Tails… I need to talk to you " Jet told him, guiding him to his office. Wave looked anxious about it, but he followed him.
Once in the room, alone with the fox, Jet started. "Did you know that both Wave and Storm are not Babylonian by blood?"
"It came up at times, yes. Wave has a ring that it's made by ancient Babylonians. It changed her DNA enough so stuff that only works with Babylons works for her too."
"Did she ever tell you that she could lose that?" That made him open his eyes a lot in surprise, which was enough answer for the hawk. "It has a mechanic that if the user has intercourse with a non Babylon, the ring then reverts the process, turning the owner into a non Babylonian again."
"Wait, then Wave…" Jet raised his hands, in a gesture to let him finish.
"She is still Babylonian." That confused the fox. "That's why we called you here and did the test. If the vial lit yellow, you would have no Babylon blood, if it was green, it meant that your DNA had been changed to a Babylon. But it shone blue… That means that you are dominantly Babylonian."
That… that was unexpected. Still, something more important was on his mind. "Why didn't she tell me anything?"
"She loves you."
"She made a hasty decision."
"Hah!" Jet laughed. "Wave is everything except impulsive. She thought about the decision… a lot. If she decided this, it's because you make her happy… no idea why or how, but you do. So you better match it. And never break her heart or you will see the worst of me!"
Tails then looked up to him. "If I break her heart, anything you can do will be nothing compared to what she will do." Tails said.
Jet gave it some thought before saying. "Agreed."
Both chuckled at this, before Tails. "What now?"
"That's up to Wave. The ball is in her court."
"No, I mean, does this change our relationship?" This would technically make him equal to Jet, blood wise at least.
"I still hate you." The Hawk answered with a deadpan face.
"And any other Babylons?"
"Don't even go there. There are reasons why you never see Non Bird Babylons in those villages. They will eat you alive."
"Hopefully not literally." Tails added. Another chuckle from both of them. "BBA like much?"
"I swear, birds are racist AF." Jet lamented out loud.
"Are they screaming?" Storm asked. They were outside of the room, while Wave had her ear on the door, trying to make up what they were saying. She was expecting more aggressivity, they are rather chill about it. She was ready to choose one over the other… Her life with the man she loved vs her life as a Babylon Rogue. She didn't have to choose yet, not after this revelation. And maybe she wouldn't have to. At least not today.
"Any idea about my parents?" The topic came up and the mood for the four of them saddened. Of course he would ask. He had been wondering about that his entire life.
"None." Was all Jet answered.
Author note:
Not sure if people will like this idea. I always head cannon that Wave and Storm are not Babylon from birth, one reason why Jet is in charge. I just suddenly thought, hey maybe the thing that is used to turn people into Babylons that I also head cannon could have a fail safe for people cheating. And so, this idea was formed. I always picture Wave as very sex adverse by nature, as in she doesn't have a body count, so I thought adding an additional reason like this would make a lot of sense. What do you think?
Another doubt. Do you readers say Babylonians or Babylon when referring to the Rogues? It has been a while since I last played a riders game, so I don't remember well which term they use.
