Chapter 2:
Detained
Arendelle
January 2nd, 1844
"Kriiisstooofff!" Exclaimed the little snowman as he started running down the snowy hill to where the stables where at.
"Kristoff- oh!" He exclaimed again until he tripped over his little foot and started rolling down the hill repeatedly.
The more he rolled the more snow got added on to his little body until he was practically twice the size he was before.
"Uff!" Exclaimed the little snowman as he collided against the stable doors.
"Huh?" Yelped Kristoff who had been asleep on top of Sven, using the reindeer as his own personal pillow.
He rubbed his eyes and slowly began to open them. He rose to his feet grudgingly. He was still tired and didn't get enough sleep either, much like Anna didn't.
"I'm coming." Yawned Kristoff as he headed tot he stable doors and opened them while putting on his coat.
There next to the door was Olaf. Or at least what was left of him. He had become a giant snowball do the hill he had rolled down on.
"Olaf?" Blinked Kristoff, wondering if he was dreaming or not.
The little snowman tried rambling words but he was hard to hear with all that snow covering himself.
"Here hold on." Sighed Kristoff as he bent over and started to shake some snow away before finally the little snowman jumped out.
"Kristoff!" Exclaimed Olaf, clearly out of breath still.
"What is it, Olaf? I'm trying to sleep." Said Kristoff as he yawned and wrapped the coat tighter on his body from the powerful cold winds that were blowing.
"You're sleeping? At three in the afternoon?" Said the innocent little snowman.
"I... couldn't sleep well last night. It was a bad night.." said Kristoff before he shook his head awake. "Now what is it?"
"It's Anna! She's at the castle right now with a prince!" Exclaimed Olaf.
"Yeah so?" Shrugged Kristoff. "She's queen and many royals always visit her."
"But not just any prince! A prince from the Southern Isles!" Exclaimed Olaf again as he ran up to Kristoff to stop him from leaving.
"Southern Isles?" Asked Kristoff with a raised brow.
"Yes! And he was on his knee kissing Anna's hand. Proposing to her!" Said Olaf again.
Kristoff's eyes widened and he quickly turned to look at the castle. No way he thought to himself. He couldn't believe what he was hearing.
It all made sense now. The ship arriving this morning wasn't just some ordinary large ship. It was a ship fit for a royal. A prince.
Anna must've already sent word that she was available and many princes are lining up to woo her and propose to her.
"She moved on that fast.. I can't believe her!" Grunted Kristoff angrily as he strapped on his boots and started marching towards the castle
"Wait where are you going!?" Exclaimed Olaf as he started to follow Kristoff with Sven beside him. But Kristoff stopped dead in his tracks and stuck his gloved hand out.
"No!" He ordered. "This is something I need to do myself okay?"
"But-"
"Both of you need to promise me you'll stay right here." Ordered Kristoff more firmly.
"But what's going on? Did something happen between you and Anna?" Asked Olaf innocently before he looked at Sven who quickly looked away.
"Just... stay here. Okay? It's too hard to explain." He said turning around to the castle. He quickly glanced behind the the castle where he knew there was another entrance.
"She wants to move on? Fine. But not without giving her a piece of my mind." He growled to himself as he started marching towards the castle.
Arendelle castle
The murmuring had practically turned into a debate. All the council has teamed up on questioning everything Björn had said. But Björn stood his ground. He was answering quickly and firmly.
Elsa couldn't blame him. He was simply following his kings orders after all. Anna still looked slouched down on the throne and Elsa could tell that there was an enormous stress weighing her down.
Only it didn't seem that it was solely based on the the news Hans brother shared and the unfortunate epistle she just read from the king. It seemed there was something else bothering her and Elsa didn't know why.
But it didn't matter at the moment. Every country seemed at the brink of war. With or without any involvement. And Arendelle was just another being forced into its list.
"How much time does Hans have until he makes a final decision." Spoke Anna finally as everyone quickly quieted down.
"Twenty four hours, your majesty. After that if Hans doesn't make a decision I have no choice but to take both Hans and Princess Hanna back to their respected kingdoms. Along with all the provisions that were brought yesterday." Replied Björn.
"How dare you!" Exclaimed a council member as he jumped forward in anger but one of the Arendellian guards quickly held him back while at the same time another council member also jumped forward.
"I know we should have never trusted you and your kingdom! The Southern Isles are as dirty as mud!" Exclaimed the other council member who was pulled away by Damien.
"Enough! Settle down or I'll have you removed!" Exclaimed Anna angrily.
"Wait, hold on!" Exclaimed Hanna who walked forward to Björn and Hans. "What do you mean me? Why do I have to go too?"
"You're fathers only daughter, Hanna. Our kingdoms only Princess. Father fears any of our enemies may take advantage to kidnap you and hold you hostage for ransom." Explained Björn.
"Oh my God." Laughed Hanna with obvious annoyance. "You've gotta be kidding me. Father wants me locked up again!?"
Even Cassandra was rolling her eyes and shaking her head.
"He's only thinking of your safety, Hanna." Said Björn softly.
"I can take care of myself and you damn well know that, Björn!" Retaliated Hanna.
"Yes.. I know." Sighed Björn before as he turned around to face the others. "Look.. I'm not trying to be the bad person here. I came as your humble servant. Nothing more. But my allegiance lies with my kingdom. And my father is king. I cannot turn my back while I watch my kingdom and it's people suffer.."
Everyone paid attention to Bjorn's impactful words. Even Anna could tell he was simply being truthful. What kind of prince wouldn't want to serve his country and it's king?
"I'm just the messenger.." He finished saying as everyone still remained quiet.
Not one person said a word as they reflected Bjorn's words. No one dared even argue anymore. Only Hans seemed like the only one with a emotionless and none caring face.
"He's right." Said Anna suddenly as everyone murmured and turned to look at her. Some were staring with surprised gestures. "Prince Björn is simply obeying his father and king. His medals on his uniform reflect that he serves his kingdom the best he can. All I can do is simply respect his obedience."
Silence fell again as they watched Anna slowly but regally rise up from her throne before she addressed the congregation again.
The councils mouth dropped at hearing her declaration. "Q-queen Anna-
"I shall honor King Soren's request." She began as everyone started to murmur amongst themselves again. "But ultimately I will leave this decision to Hans. For I cannot force Hans to go back to his kingdom. Only the Southern Isles can do that."
"So you're leaving it up to this criminal?" Argued a councilman priming at the former prince before Damien quickly gave the man a tug to watch his tone.
"Yes councilmen. I am." Said Anna firmly. "Hans will decide for himself. And if that means losing our alliance.. then so be it."
No one dared say a word. Not even Elsa was going to argue it because Anna was right. This was the right call and it's ultimately up to Hans whether or not he would be willing to turn himself in to his father.
But then Hans finally spoke.
"Unlike my brother. I don't care for the Southern Isles." A few gasps were heard around the room. Elsa's eyes widened. "I served the Southern Isles as its admiral for many years and did everything I could do please the king."
He took a few steps forward before meeting Björn face to face with his expression calm yet careless.
"But look where that got me." He finished saying as he stared his brother in the eyes. "It was good to see you again. But now you should go."
Hans walked past his brothers and towards the doors as the council and several others were panicking at the thought of Arendelle losing it's alliance once again.
Anna breathed in slowly as she watched Hans leave. For a brief moment Elsa thought perhaps Anna would have stopped him or said anything but she didn't. Anna stood firm on her decision.
"Hans. You're not the only one who doesn't want to go. You think I wanted to leave my next tour and go back Denmark!" Exclaimed Björn as Hans continued to walk away. Not once turning around. "Think of Arendelle Hans! Think of the many people suffering from this!"
"Hans! Wait!" Exclaimed Hanna who was about to run after him with Cassandra. "He can't go outside they're gonna recognize him!"
Elsa was about to jump forward but to everyone surprise Björn was the first to do so. "I'll follow him. You have my word I'll make sure he returns safely to wherever it is he's staying at."
Anna didn't know how to feel about that but there was no point in arguing with it. He was his brother. Instead she simply nodded at his request.
Björn quickly bowed and then turned to Hanna before he gave her a quick hug. "He'll be fine. I'll catch up to him. I'll see you tomorrow okay?"
Hanna nodded worriedly as she watched Björn run after Hans. Leaving the group to think about what just occurred before they all turned to Anna again.
Finally Anna sighed and then gave a dismissive hand gesture. "You are all dismissed. Get some rest and we'll wait till tomorrow."
One by one everyone began to leave. Even Anna started to depart and was about to turn the corner where the library was located before she was suddenly tugged away by the arm.
"WHOA!" She exclaimed clumsily as the large hand lead her into the library instead of herself. "HEY!"
She spun around in circles before she caught herself from falling. The library doors closed and there in front of the door was Kristoff panting as he made sure no one was around.
"What the hell are you doing!?" Exclaimed Anna with furrowed brows.
"What am I doing? What are you doing!? You're moving on that fast!" Exclaimed Kristoff as he turned to face her.
"What are you talking about!?" Exclaimed Anna back.
"YOU! Jesus not even a day passes by and you're already inviting princes to your castle!?" He exclaimed with frustration as he gestured outside.
"What are you deaf now? He's Hans brother. Did you not hear what's happening with our two kingdoms!?" Retaliated Anna.
"Oh sure that explains the kissing then huh?" Said Kristoff bitterly as he crossed his arms.
"What! What kissing!?" She said.
"Olaf told me everything. He said he saw you getting smooched on in your hand by that asshole out there who was taking a knee looking like he was about to propose." Said Kristoff although it sounded more like an accusation.
"I'm Queen of Arendelle, Kristoff! What he did was an act of respect that all royal men do to reigning monarchs! God you're such a child I swear!" She said as she began to walk past him.
"Oh I'm the child sure." He said as he made quotations signals with his fingers.
"What?" She said as she turned around halfway from opening the library door.
"Nothing, Queen Anna. Run along to your new boyfriend." He said sarcastically.
"He's a prince of the Southern Isles who came with an important message! And even if he was my new boyfriend or not why does it matter to you? We're not engaged anymore." She bit back.
"Yeah no thanks to you. Guess that's what I get for being honest huh?" He said as he crossed his arms again with pettiness.
"No it's because you LIED!" She exclaimed angrily as she shut the door again roughly which surprised Kristoff and made him jerk back as Anna started marching towards him.
He even swallowed nervously.
"You know if there's anything in this world I hate more is liars! This whole time our relationship was a complete farce because you were unhappy this whole time and instead of being honest you lied about it for years!" She exclaimed.
"I was honest! I admitted to everything at the forest!" He retaliated just as loud.
"Yeah after the Nokk forced it out of you! For years you were just faking it to make me happy when you were lying not only to me but to yourself!" She said matching his tone. "And you think after knowing all that I'm going to want to marry you? Why so you could remain miserable?"
"I was just-just trying to do what I felt was right." He said stuttering.
"So lying is right!?" She said with tears starting to fill her eyes a little.
"OKAY FINE I LIED! Big deal! What did you expect Anna!? Kristoff exploded. "I grew up in the wilderness with no parents and no rules. I don't care for all these stupid royal protocols or for helping the people of Arendelle. I can help in my own way!"
Anna didn't bother saying anything. She simply stayed silent and listened to him continue to vent.
"I mean come on it's ridiculous. You're basically becoming a prisoner and forced to live a high life standard! And you think I wanna bring my own children into a world like this? Where they have no privacy and freedom!?"
Ouch.
That last sentence felt it added salt to an already open wound. She could quite literally feel her heart break at that very moment.
"I mean you know I'm right?" Said Kristoff with an exasperated look. "I mean you have to agree that I'm sort of right!?"
Anna was looking away towards the nearest window at that point as she remained quiet. Finally she answered.
"No." She said as she turned to face him again. "I think you're wrong."
Kristoff's brows furrowed and he had to blink several times to resonate what Anna just said.
"I wouldn't bring children into this world.. my world if I didn't know it would only bring them happiness."
Her firm yet soft words made him speechless with mouth open. He looked down at the floor in silence.
"You and I.. we're just not right for each other." She added softly.
Kristoff stayed silent. He couldn't even have the strength to look at her. It was as if he'd lost all capacity of moving his body. He was stunned.
"Goodbye, Kristoff." She said at last as she turned around and shut the library door behind her.
Leaving a gullible and broken Kristoff all by himself with the hard realization. This truly was the end of the road for them.
He was marching out in the storm as if he hadn't had a worry in the world as he placed the hood back on his head. He could already here his brother calling his name from the corner of his ear.
"Hans!" Exclaimed Björn as he dashed through the storm to catch up to him. "Hans hang on!"
"I already told you my answer, Björn." Said Hans calmly as he arrived at the docks.
"Hans just think about it." Said Björn.
"I've thought about it. Answer is still no." He replied as he turned around to the castle. "Where is she? She's the only one with those damn ice powers."
"Hans, come on." Said Björn grabbing his brothers arm. "At least let me give you a lift and take you back to... wherever the hell you're staying at."
"So you can try to convince me one the way there right?" Said Hans with his brow raised.
"Hans come on man." Chuckled Björn as he grabbed him by the shoulders. "You're my brother man. You think I'm just gonna leave you out here all by yourself in the middle of this hellish storm?"
Hans was quiet for a moment as he looked out again to the path that led to the Arendellian castle. But when he saw that Elsa wasn't there he sighed.
Besides it was getting colder outside.
"Fine. But this doesn't change anything." He said as he turned back to his brother.
"Come on, I'm sure you'll enjoy riding one or our ships again." Said Björn as wrapped his arm around Hans and turned to shot orders at the crew inside the ship. "Ready the sails!"
Immediately the crew jumped to their feet and started to prepare the ship to sail. Even some of them in the front were chipping some of the frozen ice in the waters to get the ship moving.
Björn led Hans to the gangplank that still sat on the Arendellian docks. "Watch your step." Said Björn as he led the way.
The cold storm had already frozen the gangplank. Björn and Hans made their way up with caution as the the slippery ice threatened to make them fall.
Björn entered the ship first and then helped his brother aboard with a strong hold of his arm.
Hans eyes were mesmerized when he set foot inside the ship and saw many of the crew members running around and making sure it was ready to sail.
It was cold outside but he could still smell the familiar sent of a ship and it's fine wood. He watched as the crew members were bringing in the ropes from the sea and raising the sails.
Many were untying the large ropes and clearing the deck of all unnecessary things.
Just for a moment Hans felt at home.
"Been a while huh?" Said Björn as he guided Hans through the ship and into his personal quarters.
"This ship... it's new isn't it?" Asked Hans as he continued to look around and slowly follow him.
"I knew you'd pick it up." Chuckled Björn as he open the doors and entered inside. "It's the Southern Isles latest model. It runs quicker and can take more cargo load with it."
Hans entered the quarters and was immediately met with the warm fireplace that was cracking inside. It was a pretty decent size and had almost everything a singular person needed. Hans looked around the quarters as he inspected every layer and every detail of the design while Björn took off his coat and hung it up on a hanger near his desk.
He arrived to the bed where Björn had been sleeping in. It was still unmade which was rare for a military man. None of them started their day without making their bed.
But when Hans got closer his brows furrowed when he noticed something in between the messy bedsheets. He reached down to pick it up and his brows raised when he felt the familiar material.
It was a woman's under drawers. He pressed his nose just slightly to the spot of the crotch where he could very easily smell the familiar discharge when a woman was aroused.
Hans rolled his eyes as he turned to his brother again who had been going through a large glass case.
"Had fun last night?" Asked Hans with a brow raised as he held the drawer up for him to see.
Björn turned to look at Hans with furrowed brows but then chuckled when he saw it. "Well, would you look at that. Guess she forgot it this morning."
He retrieved two small glasses in his hands and a large bottle of liquor before closing the glass case again.
"Are you trying to give father more grandchildren?" Chuckled Hans as he through the woman's drawers across the room until it landed on Bjorn's face.
Björn laughed as he herself his head away and sat the bottle and glasses on the study desk. He popped the lid off the bottle and began to pour the beverage into the small glass cups.
"Trust me if you saw her you'd be pumping in your kids inside her too." He raised the glass and handed into Hans as he sat on Björn large chair. "She was slender with feckles all over her body and had fiery red hair."
He stuck the glass out and Hans acknowledged it as they clicked glass with another before drinking the beverage whole.
"Hell of an ass too." Said Björn as he wiped his lips and began to pour another shot for the two of them.
"Hmm.." said Hans as a smirk appeared at the corner of his lips while staring at the alcohol liquor "I haven't had rum in so long."
"Drink up brother. I have a whole cabin to go through. I even have ale." Said Björn as he took another shot.
"You have ale?" Chuckled Hans as he sat up amazed.
"Why wouldn't I? Påskeøl to more exact." Chuckled Björn as he made his way over next to the glass case where there was a large wooden keg full of ale.
He got two more glasses, this time much bigger and opened the lid of the keg as he poured the bubbly alcoholic drink into the two cups.
He made his way over again to Hans and slid one of the glasses to Hans. Then sat across him as they started drink the ale together and chat like old times.
Arendelle
She was walking through the storm with ease. Not all bothered by the harsh snowy wind as she looked around in hopes of finding him.
"Hans!" She called out as she looked around. "Hans!?"
But he was nowhere to be seen. It wasn't until she heard the sound of a loud yule horn that she noticed a nearby ship.
She quickly made her way to the docks and there she could see the massive Southern Isles ship thrifting away into the almost frozen ocean.
Her eyes widened.
Immediately her thoughts turned the worst that Björn was probably leaving with Hans and helping him escape. Again. Or worse. Kidnapping him and forcing him back to Denmark.
"Queen Elsa!" Came a sudden exclaim as Elsa turned with a confused expression. "Queen Elsa wait!"
Elsa's eyes widened when she saw the long auburn haired pony tail flying in the wind. Wrapped herself in a warm coat and her ears covered up as she hid her face from the strong wind.
"Princess Hanna, what are you doing!? You can get sick!" Exclaimed Elsa as she ran to her and shielded her from the cold.
She wrapped her arms around her because the strong wind was even starting to push her and Elsa backwards.
"I want to come with you!" She exclaimed as she continued to hide her face.
"Come with me? Are you crazy!? Princess Hanna this weather is not for someone to be out here. Please go back inside-"
"If anyone going to be able to convince Hans it's going to be me, Queen Elsa." Said Hanna as Elsa stopped to listen to her. "And with our brother Björn there we may have a chance to get to him."
"I.. I don't know." Said Elsa shaking her head. "You're brother has taken him away and I don't know if he's helping him escape or maybe taking him by force-"
"Who Björn? Oh no no! Believe me Queen Elsa Björn is trustworthy. He cares for Hans well being just as much as I do." Said Hanna as Elsa continued to look at her.
A slight feeling of doubt clouded her mind. Could any Westergaard besides Hanna be truly trustworthy? As far as she knew all the men in the family had a bad reputation.
"I can help, Queen Elsa." Said Hanna with more seriousness this time.
She then looked back to the ship that continued to sail away as it started to disappear into the cold winds before finally sighing.
"Okay fine. Let's go then."
"Great!" Exclaimed Hanna as she continued to hold her arms to shield from the cold.
Elsa stepped forward the docks and with her hands summoned a ice boat just the right size for the two of them.
"Quickly. We must catch up to them." Said Elsa as she stepped inside and then helped Hanna in. "Watch your step."
As soon as they were both seated the boat began to go after them as quickly as they could with the Nokks help as the winds picking up even harder.
My God.." said Hans removing his lips from the drink. His eyes were even joyful.. "I forgot how great it tastes."
"The best in all of Denmark." Sighed Björn as he removed his lips from the drink. "How have you been brother?"
"Clearly still alive." Sighed Hans as he leaned back in his chair.
Björn chuckled as he went for another drink. "You should've seen the look on Kaleb's face when Hanna told our father and brothers the news."
Hans smirked and rolled his eyes. "I take it father wasn't too thrilled I wasn't dead."
"You know how father is. He didn't say much and just went about his life. Kaleb demanded Hanna be punished however." Said Björn as he shook his head with a small smile.
"And what about you? How did you take the news?" Asked Hans.
"I always knew you were alive, Hans." Said Björn as he took another drink. "Hanna told me."
"Did she now?" Said Hans with a brow raised.
"She only trusts you and I remember? The three of us are the only ones who entrusted each other with secrets. So when I found out she let you free I was glad." Said Björn.
"Really?" Said Hans with furrowed brows.
Björn stopped midway of taking a drink as he looked up at Hans again. "Come on, Hans. Are you kidding? You're my brother. I don't want you dead. Ever."
Hans was quiet for a moment as he began to run his fingers at the corners of Björn study desk. "Our brothers would disagree."
"You know how our brothers are.." Said Björn. "Thirteen of us. There was always competition and contention between us. And there always will be. Especially with us having different mothers and all."
"You don't seem to have that problem though, Björn. Unlike me our brothers actually respect you." Chuckled Hans. "Speaking of which how is Signe?"
"My mother is fine I suppose." Sighed Björn. "I saw her in Oslo just before I came to Arendelle as a matter of fact. She had come to visit me since she heard my tour ended."
"She was in Oslo?" Said Hans taking another drink.
"To visit family. She would go to them in Sweden but given the conflict with Lars well.. father doesn't want to risk her safety or any other catastrophes."
"That's right. I always forget you're half Swedish." Said Hans with a relaxed grin as Björn chuckled at him.
"So they met in the middle and went to Oslo instead. She'll be staying there for three weeks before she returns to Denmark." Said Björn
"I took it she handled the news of me well too?" Said Hans sarcastically with his brows raised.
Björn sneered. "What could more could she say Hans? You know how she's always been. Very caring but also very careful. She didn't like father sending me to you."
"Because she doesn't like me."
"You always assume that." Said Björn shaking his head. "My mother liked you a lot better than the rest of our brothers that's for damn sure."
"Even her other children? Erik and Ivar?" Retaliated Hans.
Björn shrugged. "Erik and Ivar are complicated. Especially Ivar. Not even Kaleb can stand him."
Hans nodded. "It seems everyone is still the same I suppose."
"Pah you have no idea brother. I've been gone for almost two years and everyone we know is still exactly the same. They might have changed careers or picked up new hobbies. But it seems the only one that's changed is you."
Hans reflected Bjorn's words as he chugged the last of the ale before he rose to his feet again.
"Come on. Give me a good reading and show me where I'm supposed to be taking you." Said Björn.
Hans also chugged the last of his ale and rose to his feet as he followed Björn out to deck again.
The ship was starting to sail forward with a few crew members lining up to greet Björn.
"Captain." They said nodding at him.
"Captain?" Repeated Hans. "What you're captain of the ship now?"
"Of course not. I'm no navy man like you." Said Björn as he teasingly shoved Hans before he pointed at the new pinned badge on his chest. "Captain of the Southern Isles Army."
"Father appointed you captain?" Said Hans with a surprise expression. "What happened to Kaleb?"
"Father appointed Kaleb as the new general." Said Björn.
"Oh. Well that explains it." Said Hans as he rolled his eyes while Björn smirked at him.
"A reading captain?" Asked the men who were occasionally looking at Hans. Seeing a former prince and outlaw was strange again and it showed.
"Yes. Of course. Hans?" Said Björn turning to his brother. "Where are we headed."
"North. The altitude will get higher the further you sail so keep the sails high and tight." Said Hans as Björn listened and watched his brother with proud smirk on his lips.
"You heard him. Take us forward." Added Björn.
"Yes sir." Nodded the men as they all departed and began sailing forward.
Björn noticed how Hans was staring at all the men get into assembly to sail the ship. He could see how intrigued Hans was and he couldn't blame him.
Once a sailor always a sailor.
"So." Sighed Björn. "You gonna tell me what you've been up to these past three years."
"There's nothing to tell. You already know what I've been up to. Being a mercenary for some time and then arriving at the forest." Said Hans as they walked to the front of the deck.
"Really? So you're not going to tell me about the fact that you and Queen Elsa are practically roommates? And long lost cousins?" Said Björn.
"Shut up." Said Hans rolling his eyes as Björn laughed.
"Okay fine neighbors. But same difference. I mean Jesus Hans. You're living in the same forest with the woman you almost murdered. And come to find out you mother and hers were practically sisters? How's that been like?"
"Trust me she never fails to bring up the fact I almost killed her." Said Hans with annoyance as he leaned on the ships rails. "And you can drop the whole sisters thing. As far as I'm concerned my mother took in an orphan. That's all."
"And you're still wanting to live there? Didn't you want to live somewhere else?"
"I have nowhere else to go Björn." Said Hans as he looked out to the ocean as they continued to sail through the rough storm. "Besides I prefer it this way. It saved me the hassle of having to run into people staring at my face like they're seeing a monster."
"Yeah instead you only have the queen staring at you." Retaliated Björn.
Hans shrugged. "If she could be gone from my life trust me it'd be a blessing. But I'll just have to deal with it."
A cool wind flew by as Hans began to warm his hands with his hot breath.
"She's very beautiful. So is her sister, Queen Anna. Can't believe you were engaged but hadn't even humped her." Chuckled Björn as he shoved his brother again.
"Trust me she wanted me to." Said Hans rolling his eyes.
"And you denied her? You could've put a kid in her. Would've put your lineage at least closer to the throne!" Said Björn.
"Yeah I know okay?" Replied Hans with annoyance. "But I was too focused on speeding things up and I wasn't patient enough. Besides so many things happened all at once with Arendelle feezing that.. I don't know I got desperate."
"Do you ever regret to." Said Björn after a long while as they stared out to the cold ocean together.
Hans said nothing to that as he continued to look out to the ocean. But then murmuring started to begin from the crew members on deck. And soon enough many had gathered on the backside as they gestures to the waters.
"What's going on?" Asked Björn with furrowed brows as he started making his way over the side of the deck with Hans following.
The crew made way for Björn as he walked to the front of the small crowd.
"Captain, there seems to be some kind of boat made of ice following us." Said one of the men.
"That's Queen Elsa." Said Hans as they all turned to look at him. "She's the only one capable of creating such a thing.
Björn nodded at his brother before turning his attention back to his men. "Throw them a rope and lower the gangplank to let them in."
They did as they were told. They threw the rope to the water near Elsa's boat which made her furrow her brows.
"Bjorn's letting us in, your majesty." Said Hanna as Elsa grabbed the rope in her hands.
Elsa blinked a couple times but quickly allowed Hanna to tie the rope unto the side of their boat. She did it with such ease and the knot was strong and held firm.
Then the ice boat began to rock back and forth a bit until it started to move forward without Elsa or any of the spirits taking control.
The crew members on top were railing the princess and queen towards their direction until they touched their ship. Then the gangplank lowered as it touched next to them.
"Come, Queen Elsa." Said Hanna as she led the way and began to climb on top with ease.
"I--is it stable?" Asked Elsa with slight fear in her tone.
It was remarkable for Hanna. Elsa was easily the strongest and most powerful person she'd ever met. Her magic proved it. But deep down she was still human and even feared climbing on top of a ship.
"Nothing to fear, your majesty. Stay close behind me and we'll be up before we know it." Said Hanna.
Elsa took in a quick breath and soon enough was following Hanna up the ship. And she was right because they arrived on the deck with Björn ready to help them in.
"Hanna? What are you doing here. Where's Queen Elsa?" Asked Hans with a confused expression.
"Here." Grunted Elsa as she held into the rails and was guided inside by Björn respectfully.
Her feet touched the deck and she had to maintain her balance due to the rocky ship. She wasn't used to sailing at all.
"We came looking for you. You ran off so we were worried you got lost in the storm with Björn." Said Hanna.
"Or that you escaped somewhere else." Said Elsa more firmly. "Which I hope is not the case."
Hans inwardly rolled his eyes at Elsa's tone. "We're actually sailing back to the forest. I would've waited for you and your magical horse but you were taking forever."
Elsa rolled her eyes as Bjorn's brows furrowed.
"Magical horse?" Muttered Björn before he shook his head. Anyways.. I was only planning to guide him back there, your majesty." Nothing more."
"And what were you planning to do back in Northuldra anyway?" Asked Elsa as she crossed her arms.
Hans shrugged carelessly as he held on to his tunic neck collar. "I don't know. Maybe get some sleep or drink some hot glogg."
Elsa's face filled with a unamused expression. He want even thinking about the conversation they just had at the castle. He didn't even seem bothered by the catastrophe the kingdoms were all in. Her anger was starting to build again.
"We'll try to convince him, your majesty. Promise." Said Hanna as she leaned over and whispered to Elsa.
"I hope your right." Said Elsa as Björn and Hans returned to their conversation.
Northuldra
As the large naval ship approached the forest shore, more and more Northuldra appeared, surprised by the large ship. They've never seen anything quite like it.
Once the ship had anchored down, The gangplank was placed and Elsa disembarked first. When she reached the snow covered ground, she was met by a confused and alarmed Honeymaren.
"What's all this?" Elsa asked, gesturing to the Northuldra warriors armed with spears behind Honeymaren.
"Just a precaution. We didn't recognize the ship that was approaching." Honeymaren replied.
"Fair enough." Elsa said with a nod.
Meanwhile, Hans was watching as Elsa talked to Honeymaren. Bjorn walked up next to him and Hanna was following behind.
"So, this where you've been staying for the past year and a half, huh?" Bjorn said.
"Well, yes. But I don't sleep down where all the Northuldra live."
"The Northuldra?" Asked Björn with a confused brow raised.
"They're a group of indigenous people that live in the forest, Björn. There's a whole multitude of them in the northern parts of the countries actually." Said Hanna.
"Ah, I see. They're Laplanders-- Oww!"
"Shhh!" Hissed Hanna as she punched Bjorn's arm. "Don't say that word in front of them. They find it very offensive!"
"You serious? That's why you punched me?" Replied Björn with furrowed brows.
"She's right. They get very aggressive and upset if you call them that. Even the term Sami is disrespectful to them." Said Hans.
"But that's what they are. We have Sami in Sweden too. I see them all the time when I visit." Argued Bjorn.
"They have different tribes, Björn." Said Hanna as the as they started making their way down. "This is just one of the many tribes around."
"Fine. I won't call them that. Still rather strange however." Said Björn as he began to look around his surroundings.
Many of the Northuldran were still lost as they gazed at the large ship before them. Others had been staring at him and Hans. Wondering who the mysterious man was.
Bjorn continued to look around the forest and the people until suddenly his eyes widened when he saw her.
"Now they are quite primitive, but they also have pretty good warriors too. Although I'd watch out for Honeymaren there, she's not a big fan of me and I doubt she'd be a fan of you or-" Hans stopped when he looked over at Bjorn. His brother's eyes were wide and his mouth slightly open. Hans looked where Bjorn was looking and realized he was staring at... Honeymaren?!
Honeymaren and Elsa were still speaking one with another and it seemed Elsa was recounting everything that had occurred since she left to Arendelle.
And by Honeymarens body language it seemed she was not at all pleased. Her posture had one hope popped to the side as she crossed her arms and listened with furrowed brows and unimpressed expression.
But that didn't stop Björn from staring. Even Hanna was confused if Björn was that stunned by Honeymarens beauty that he had gone paralyzed.
And truth be told he was. Björn had never seen a woman like Honeymaren. At least not a race like hers. Her cheekbones were high and her eyelashes were dark and long. She seemed so sure of herself and of her beauty.
Oh, no no no no, don't you dare, Bjorn! Hans thought to himself. He snapped his fingers in front of Bjorn's face, which snapped him out of his trance.
"Huh? Wh-wha? What did you say?" Bjorn asked, coming back to reality.
"I said watch out from Honeymaren! She doesn't like me at all, and I doubt she'd like you either." Hans replied firmly.
"Oh yeah? Let's test that theory." Bjorn said as he started walking towards the two.
Hans' eyes widened. "Bjorn, don't do it. DO NOT-"
"Here we go." Sighed Hanna as she crossed her arms and rolled her eyes.
He tried to jump forward to tackle his brother, Bjorn and stop him from taking another step but it was too late. He was already heading down the gangplank and towards Elsa and the beautiful Northuldran girl.
Björn was approaching slowly when he heard the last few sentences of the conversation they were having in Norwegian.
"And you brought them here? Elsa!" Hissed Honeymaren.
"I'm sorry, Maren. But what am I suppose to do?" Said Elsa.
"Well for starters you and Anna can keep your end of the deal. We did everything you asked us, Elsa! And this is how your allegiance with that kingdom repays you? We can't be punished simply for obeying your--"
"Ahem."
Honeymarens brows furrowed when she heard that forced noise. She and Elsa both turned around where they saw the handsome and tall southern isles prince standing firm with his hands folded in front of him.
Whoever he was Honeymaren already didn't like him. Just seeing his colorful and fancy attire was making her upset and he seemed to be gazing at her for too long.
"Oh! Honeymaren there's someone I'd like you to meet. Ahem." Elsa cleared her throat as she began to address everyone else. "People of Northuldra, may I present, Prince Bjorn of The Southern Isles." Elsa said in a regal voice.
Honeymaren's eyes furrowed in disgust. The last thing she wanted right now was to meet another of Hans' brothers, much less the exact one Hans himself told her she would probably like.
Then Bjorn stepped off the gangplank and onto the snow-covered ground. "Greetings, I am honoured to-"
"Ugh. Not interested." Honeymaren said in a disgusted tone. She turned around and began walking away as Bjorn's eyes widened.
"Maren! Where are you going?!" Elsa asked, surprised at her friend's rude behaviour.
"I'm going to check on my mother. Have fun with your new friends!" She replied, not bothering to turn back as she continued to walk with purpose.
Bjorn watched with a stunned expression on his face as she disappeared into the camp. Hanna was crackling of laughter in the back and leaned over while holding her stomach.
Hans sighed as he walked up and leaned in to whisper to his brother.
"Told you."
Bjorn rolled his eyes.
Northuldra Camp
They approached the camp and had sat down with a couple of Northudlrans who had begun supper. The cold wind died down for a bit so they were actually able to eat outside for once in a long while.
Honeymaren eventually included herself in as she made her way in the middle of Ryder and Rhanda.
"Have you seen how handsome Hans brother is?" Whispered the giddy Northudlran girl to Honeymarens ear.
"Are you kidding? He looks like a big oaf." Retaliated Honeyamren back as she grabbed a piece of the freshly made flatbread and took a viscous bite.
Björn noticed eyes on him to his right side and flashed a smirk with his mouth full of flatbread that had been shared by one of the Northudlrans. He even nodded at them while Rhanda grinned even harder as her and a couple of other Northuldran girls near her waved back.
Honeyamaren rolled her eyes in disgust.
Yelena was approaching the group to greet them as she walked with her staff for support. "Back so soon, Fifth Spirit?"
"Oh there you are, Yelena." Elsa replied. "I'm surprised you're outside so soon after the blizzard."
"Yes, well, I needed to stretch my legs after being stuck in my hut for so long." Yelena chuckled before looking behind Elsa. "I see you've brought some familiar faces. As well as a new one."
"Indeed. Yelena, this is-"
"Prince Bjorn of the Southern Isles." Bjorn finished for Elsa as he stepped forward respectfully and bowed.
"I see. You are Hans brother. Elsa told me you had arrived in Arendelle." Yelena said. "Please, join use for dinner."
"Nooo--" groaned Honeymaren as she slapped her forehead.
"We wouldn't want to interrupt anything." Said Hanna.
"Nonsense. There is enough food to share with everyone. Come sit with us and eat." Said Yelena.
"I'd love to." Bjorn replied as he and his siblings with Elsa sat with Yelena.
He made himself comfortable and even crossed his legs like everyone else who was in the circle. He noticed Honeymaren who had been glaring and gave her a wink.
Ryder noticed the wink and at first thought it was towards him. His eyes were widened in suspense but when he saw his sister glare once more at Björn and stuff more flatbread in her mouth he knew.
"Can we trust him to not be violent like his brother?" Yelena asked as she leaned over and whispered to Elsa.
Elsa nodded.
"Good." Yelena replied before turning back to her people. "Pass the reindeer."
Several minutes into the the dinner and everyone was engaging in conversation. Wether it was with groups or any other sort of individual.
Honeymaren seemed like she could care less of Hans and his brothers presence. She continued to engage in friendly conversation with Ryder and Rhanda and several other mutual friends.
Björn on the other hand would eat and talk with his siblings but he couldn't keep his eyes off Honeymaren. Every time he took a bite it seemed his eyes lingered towards her.
"Geez cut that out." Whispered Hanna as she elbowed Björn. "You're staring at her like a dog desperate for scraps."
"Is it that obvious?" Asked Björn with furrowed brows as Hanna rolled her eyes again.
"Stay away from her, brother." Warned Hans as he too leaned in the conversation.
"But why is she so rude? I mean it's kind of attractive but--"
"No! There's nothing to be attracted to her about okay?" Said Hans more firmly. "She is bad news."
This time Hanna furrowed her brows. She agreed Björn should stay away but Hans was warning him like she was the plague.
"What did she do to you?" Asked Hanna this time to Hans.
"Me? She--she.." said Hans before he quickly came up with a answer. "She's just toxic okay? Not a good person at all."
Hanna wasn't convinced. Her brother never stuttered. Ever. Something was definitely suspicious.
"I mean we're all not entirely good you know? I mean you sure as hell aren't--"
"BJÖRN!" Hanna and Hans exclaimed together.
"All right, all right relax." Chuckled Björn as he popped another reindeer meat with flatbread into his mouth. "I'll stay away."
Hans breathed out a sigh of relief.
"So there's nothing that can be done?" Asked Yelena who had been speaking with Elsa whom sat next to Hans.
"I'm afraid not. Denmark has its own set of laws. We cannot come in the way of them following it." Said Elsa.
Yelena sighed heavily as she began to rub her tired and worn out face. "This is not good."
"No it isn't." Said Elsa shaking her head. "This storm is not ceasing anytime soon. It's going to get more violent and without the provisions--"
Ah~ Ah~ Ah~ Ah~
Elsa gasped and turned around when she heard her mother calling her to Ahtohallan. It caught completely caught her by surprise.
"She's calling you again, isn't she?"
Elsa turned to Yelena, surprised how she guessed so easily. She had a bitter sweet look in her eyes.
"Yes. She probably wants an update on what's happening with Hans." Elsa suggested.
"Hmm." Grunted the Northudlran tribe leader.
"Are you okay, Yelena?" Elsa asked.
Yelena sighed. "I just wish I could see Iduna again, even if it's just once. I miss her..."
"I'm sorry, Yelena." Said Elsa as she pressed her lips and placed her hand on top of Yelena's shoulder. "I'm sure she feels the same way."
"Nothing to apologize for dear." Smiled Yelena as she squinted her eyes showing her wrinkles. "I have you. Seeing you is like I'm seeing Iduna."
Elsa smiled as she looked down to the floor at her beautiful compliment.
"I'm sure if I got to see Iduna grow older she would look just like you." Said Yelena as sh le gently caressed Elsa's end of her braid with her hand. "You look Just like her child."
"So I've been told." Said Elsa as she breathed out a chuckle as she rose to her feet.
Ah~ Ah~ Ah~ Ah~
Elsa turned around again with furrowed brows, making Yelena chuckle.
"Best not to keep her waiting. Otherwise, you'll never hear the end of it."
Elsa laughed again before she turned to Hans and gave him a tap on his shoulder to get his attention.
"I'll be back." She said as she began to walk away.
"Whoa wait, where are you going?" He called out to her with furrowed brows as she went to the waters and placed her hand until the Nokk appeared.
Bjorn's bread fell from his hands as he watched with a dumbfounded face.
She turned to him with a serious face. "None of your business."
Hanna snickered at Elsa's bold response as Hans annoyed expression returned. They watched as she jumped on top of the Nokk with ease before she gave a slight kick with her heel.
Immediately the water spirit rose up and neighed loudly before it took off quickly through the freezing waters towards Ahtohallan.
Everyone returned to their eating except Björn who was still staring at the empty water where he had just seen Elsa and the water spirit depart from.
"Did.. did I just see water horse take Queen Elsa across the sea.." He said as he gestured towards the place.
But no one answered him. Everyone returned to their meals as if nothing had happened.
Ahtohallan
Elsa and Nokk arrived at Ahothallan. The grand glacier stood mighty still as Elsa breathed out a sigh.
"Thank you my friend." She said as she dismounted from the water spirit. "I'll try not to be long."
She entered inside the mighty glacier and walked with no hurry through the magical frozen designs as she let her hand feel the smooth ice textural walls. Letting the magical powers of Ahtohallan roam through her.
She arrived at the grand stairs she created and went up each step until she reached the top where she was met with the same frozen memories still intact.
Even though she's been here hundreds of times it still felt mesmerizing being at the incredible and magical place. To her even felt somewhat holy.
She walked through all her memories with her eyes focused towards the other side where her mother usually made her appearance. But her feet stopped when they made contact with broken ice on the ground.
She looked down and breathed out a small sigh through her nose. There was Hans. Broken in pieces.
It was quite ironic if she was being honest. Suddenly a bright light began to overshadow the back of the great room as she slowly lifted her eyes to see where it was coming from.
"I was beginning to worry you wouldn't be coming to visit me." Came the voice from behind.
Elsa turned around where she was met with her mother standing as bright and as beautiful as ever as the northern lights of the sky shined brightly behind her.
"Hello mother." Said Elsa smiling at her.
"Hello, my snowflake." Said Iduna in a gentle and loving voice as she smiled back.
The Four Peaks
Bjorn's loud laughter echoed through the cave as they walked past and made their way to the small camp set up.
"NO WAY!" Bjorn said in disbelief as he continued to laugh. "She stroked you off and you actually came?!"
Hans sighed and facepalmed, already regretting that he told Bjorn about the hot springs incident with Honeymaren. "It wasn't my finest moment, okay?!"
Bjorn's laughter finally quieted down to chuckles. Hans quickly jabbed him on his ribs when they heard Hanna coming back.
"Shhh!" Hissed Hans to Björn.
"What's so funny?" Asked Hanna as she came out of the nearby woods. She had gone for a minute to use the restroom.
"Nothing." Said Hans quickly and smoothly. "Bjorn's just being Björn. You already know. Right?"
Hanna squinted her eyes. Still not convinced.
Björn cleared his throat from the endless laughter and quickly tried to gain his composure. "Yeah.. just a inside joke between brothers--"
"Ugh. Don't care to know." Said Hanna as she gave a dismissed hand and made her way over to them.
They sat on the floor and laid their backs on the giant boulder. Hans sat on the right, Björn to the left and Hanna in the middle.
Hanna lifted up her skirt just slightly to expose her boot and pulled out a dagger. And then with the other hand she pulled out a large apple.
She crossed her feet over another and began to peel the apple and and cut it into pieces before she gave a good portion to each of her brothers.
"So, this is where you lived, huh?" Bjorn asked as he popped a apple into his mouth. "Not that bad, honestly."
"You can't beat that view." Said Hanna as she gestured with her dagger to the great landscape before them. "You should see it during the day. Especially when the suns out." Hanna said.
"Yeah, it could be worse." Sighed Hans as he lifted his knees close to his arms and set them on top it.
"But don't you ever miss society?" Asked Björn.
Hans let out a bitter breath as he smirked. "Do you think society misses me?"
Hanna and Björn stayed quiet for a moment. "Fair point." Said Björn finally as he leaned back rested his Jean in the back with his arms holding them.
Hanna pressed her lips as she tried to think of away to start the conversation of possibly taking Hans back to their father. She didn't want Arendelle to suffer the alliance breaking. They didn't deserve it.
But her brother also didn't deserve this unfair ultimatum.
"You know, Hans." Began Hanna as Hans leaned forward and began to assemble sticks and branches with leaves into the built fireplace. "It could be Father is just testing you. Maybe he has a pardon set up--"
"Hanna. Don't start." Said Hans firmly as he leaned over and began to put logs he had cut himself.
Björn sighed and Hanna closed her eyes. Her patience was running low. It was now or never.
"Really? So we're not gonna talk about this?" Said Hanna more sternly.
"No we're not." He retaliated. Not once looking over to any of his siblings.
"Come on brother. You said so yourself that these Arendellians look to you as a monster. Maybe this is a way to earn some sort of forgiveness." Said Björn.
"Oh so giving myself up is how I redeem myself?" Said Hans as he looked at his brother with a unamused expression and smirk filling his face. "I'm not looking for redemption, Björn. I could care less for it."
"Hans this is serious." Said Hanna with much more seriousness in her tone this time. "The fate of Arendelle lays in your palm. Yours! And you're telling me you're just going to turn the other cheek?"
"Yes. That's exactly what I'm saying." Said Hans as he began to strike two stones together as sparks began to fly into the wood and branches.
Hanna growled and rolled her eyes as Björn quickly stepped into the conversation.
"Look I don't blame you for not wanting to go back to Denmark. Especially back to father. But right now Denmark is in an uproar. Lars has gone mad, Hans. It's not time to think of the past or the future. It's time to think of the reality." Said Björn.
"And the reality is that this war is growing worse Hans. People are going to start dying from this." Said Hanna as she leaned forward and placed a firm but gentle hand on Hans forearm before he can summon another strike with his hands. "Can't you see we're all losing here?"
Hans remained quiet as he stared into the hot sparks that were descending from its color due to the cold weather. A long thought came into his mind as he reflected Hanna's words.
He strikes the two rocks with one another and the sparks flew again into the pit, this time creating fire as it started to devour the wood.
He looked into the fire not saying a word. Hanna let out a exhausted sigh as she leaned back into the boulder in surrender as she crossed her arms.
Björn had no reason to add anything else. It was clear there was no convincing his brother. It seemed more obvious by the second that he was going to be left with no choice but to arrest him like their father ordered.
"Do you remember that story mother used to tell us when we were children?" Said Hans suddenly as he continued to stare into the warm and evolving fireplace.
"Which mother? Asked Björn with furrowed brows.
Hans snickered as he turned to look at Björn. "My mother idiot."
"Then no. I never heard any of her stories." Said Björn as he looked back out to the landscape.
"Sure you do." Said Hans as he slid back next to Hanna and leaned back into the boulder. "It was one of her famous stories she used to tell to us before we headed to bed. Sometimes you'd join in to listen."
"Hans. Mother told millions of stories." Said Hanna with a disappointed expression in her face.
"Yes but this one was her most famous one." Said Hans as he rose his knee up and made himself comfortable so he can begin."The Story of Baldur."
Christiansen Farm
1812
Iduna and Nora were sitting by the fireplace. They had just finished their supper outside in the fields. It was dark out and Amma had started the dishes before they retired to bed.
But Nora and Iduna stayed behind. Nora was hunched over as she told a story to Iduna. They had gotten closer as the days gone by and Iduna was entertained by all the stories Nora would share with her.
"Now... are you ready?" Asked Nora with a teasing brow at Iduna.
"Yes! I'm ready!" Replied Iduna happily with eager eyes.
"Okay. Here it goes. This is the story of Baldur." Said Nora with suspense as Iduna shook her foot up and down in suspense.
"Baldur was the best beloved of all the gods. Odin was their father and king; to him they turned for help and wise advice, but it was to Baldur they went for loving words and bright smiles. The sight of his kind face was a joy to the Æsir, and to all the people of Midgard. They sometimes called him the god of light, a good name for him, because he truly gave to the world light and strength."
"God of light.." repeated Nora as she reached for a piece of chocolate before stuffing it into her mouth.
"Baldur was the son of Odin and Frigga; he was the most gentle and lovely of all the gods. His beautiful palace in Asgard was bright and spotless; no evil creature could enter there; no one who had wrong thoughts could stay in that palace of love and truth.
At last, after the bright summer was over, for many days Baldur had looked sad and troubled. Some of the Æsir saw it, but most of all, his loving, watchful mother, Frigga. Baldur could not bear to worry his mother, so he kept his sorrow to himself, saying nothing about it; but at last Frigga drew his secret from him, and then his friends knew that Baldur had had dreams which told of coming trouble, dreams of his leaving all his friends and going away from Asgard, to dwell in another land."
Iduna gasped silently as she reached for another chocolate.
"Odin and Frigga, fearing the dreams might come true and they must lose their beloved son, began to think what they could do to prevent it.
Then the loving mother said, "I will make all things in the world promise not to hurt our son." And so Queen Frigga sent out for everything in the whole world, and everything came trooping to Asgard, to her palace. All living creatures came from the land, from the water, and from the air." Said Nora as she made gestures with her hands.
"All plants and trees came; all rocks, stones, and even the metals under the earth, where the busy dwarfs worked. Fire came, and water, as well as all poisons, and sickness. Everything promised not to harm the good Baldur, except one little plant called mistletoe, which was so small that Frigga did not send for it, feeling sure it could not do any harm."
"Whoa..." said Iduna as she hugged her legs and stared at Nora and her exciting storytelling body language.
"Now I am happy once more," said the queen, "for our Baldur is safe!" And she sat at peace in her beautiful palace, rejoicing that her dear son was free from all danger.
But..." said Nora as the tone of her voice changed. Iduna gasped again. "Odin, the wise Allfather, still felt uneasy, even after all these promises, fearing what might happen. So he took his eight-footed steed, Sleipnir, and rode forth from Asgard to the underworld to find Hela, the wise woman who ruled over that far-off land. She could tell everything that was going to happen, and she knew the names of all those who were coming to dwell with her. Odin was the only one wise enough to speak with Hela, for no one else knew the words that would call her forth from her dwelling; but when Odin called, she came to answer.
"Tell me," said he, "for whom are you making ready this costly room?"
"We make ready for Baldur, the god of light," replied Hela.
"Who, then, will slay Baldur, and bring such darkness and sorrow to Asgard?"
Again said the wise woman, "It is Hodur, Baldur's twin brother, who will slay the sun-god." And with these words she vanished.
"No..." whispered Nora as he covered her mouth while Nora nodded at her.
"Sadly Father Odin returned to Asgard, and told his wife the words of Hela; but Frigga was not troubled in her heart, for she felt sure that nothing would hurt her dear son.
One beautiful sunny day at the end of summer the gods had all gone out to an open field beyond Asgard to have some sports. As they all knew that nothing could hurt Baldur, they placed him at the end of the field for a target, and then took turns throwing their darts at him, just for the fun of seeing them fall off without hurting him. They thought this was showing great honor to Baldur, and he was pleased to join in the sport.
Loki happened to be away when they began to play, and when he came was angry in his heart that nothing could hurt Baldur."
"Why should he be so favored? I hate him!" said Loki to himself, and began at once to plan some evil."
Iduna's eyes widened how Nora was so easily able to change her voice.
"All this while Queen Frigga sat in her palace, thinking of all her dear sons, and of how much good they did to men. As she sat thus, thinking, and spinning with her hands, there came a knock at the door. The queen called, "Come in!" and an old woman stood before her.
Frigga spoke kindly to her, and soon the old woman said she had passed by the field where the gods were playing, and throwing sharp weapons at Baldur.
"Oh, yes," said Frigga; "neither metal nor wood can hurt him, for all things in the world have given me their promise."
"What!" said the old woman; "do you mean that all things have really vowed to spare Baldur?"
"All," replied the queen, "except one little plant that grows on the eastern side of Asgard; it is called mistletoe, and I thought it too small and soft to do any harm."
"Oh no.." whispered Iduna again.
"Before long the old woman went away, and when she was quite out of sight of Frigga's palace, threw off her woman's clothes, and who do you suppose it was? Why, no woman at all, but that wicked Loki, of course, who hurried away out of Asgard, to find the poor little plant that did not know about Baldur's danger. When he came to the place where the plant grew, Loki cutting off a branch, quickly made a sharp arrow, which he carried back to the playground, where the Æsir were still at their game, all but one, Hodur, the god of darkness, Baldur's blind twin brother.
Then Loki went up to Hodur, and said to him in a low voice, "Why do you not join with the others in doing honor to Baldur?"
"I cannot see to take aim, you know, and besides, I have no weapon," said Hodur.
"Come, then, here is a fine new dart for you, and I will guide your hand," whispered wicked Loki; then he slipped the arrow of mistletoe wood into Hodur's hand and aimed it himself at Baldur, who stood there so bright and smiling.
Then poor blind Hodur heard a dreadful cry from all the gods: Baldur the Beautiful had fallen, struck by the arrow; he would now be taken away from them, to live with Hela in the underworld."
"No!" Iduna said as she covered her mouth with her hand in fear and in dismay.
"Every heart was filled with sorrow for this dreadful loss; but no one tried to punish him who had done the wicked deed, for they stood upon sacred ground, and the field was named the Peace-stead, or Place of Peace, where no one might hurt another. Besides, the gods did not know it was the false Loki who hated Baldur, that had struck him down.
When Frigga heard the sad news, she asked who would win her love by going to the underworld and begging Hela to let Baldur come back to them."
"Who will it be!?" Exclaimed Iduna, impatient and eager to find out.
"Hermod, the swift messenger-god, ready to do his mother's bidding, set forth at once on the long journey. Nine days and nights he traveled without resting, until he came to Hela's underworld. There he found Baldur, who was glad to see him, and sent messages to his friends in Asgard. Hela said Baldur might return to them on one condition: that every living creature, and everything in the world must weep for him.
So Hermod hastened back to Asgard, and when the Æsir heard Hela's answer, they sent out messengers over the world to bid all things weep for Baldur, their bright sun-god. Then did the beasts, the birds, the fishes, the flowers and trees, even stones and metals weep; as indeed we can see the teardrops come to all things when they are changed from heat to cold.
As the messengers were coming back to Asgard they met an old woman, whom they bade weep, but she replied, "Let Hela keep Baldur down below; why should I care?" When the Æsir heard of this, they thought it must have been the same old woman who went before to Frigga's palace, and we know who that was.
And so Baldur the beautiful, Baldur the bright, did not come back, and all the dwellers in Asgard were sad and sorrowful without him.."
Nora finished the story as she sat back on the floor and smirked at Iduna who was jaw dropped by what she had heard.
"Wow... that was an incredible story!" Said Iduna as she blinked many times.
"Thank you, thank you." Chuckled Nora as she took a silly curtsy.
"You know you're very good at telling stories." Said Iduna as she began to reach for another chocolate. Her lips and mouth were stained with it.
"East in the chocolates, Iduna." Giggled Nora as she leaned forward and began to wipe her mouth with her dress.
"I know but it's so good! This doesn't exist back in the forest." Said Iduna as she stuffed another chocolate in her mouth.
"I know but if you eat too much it'll be bad for you okay?" Said Nora as she sat back down.
"Seriously though how'd you learn to tell great stories like that?" Asked Iduna.
"My father taught me." Replied Nora with a gentle but solemn smirk.
Iduna was silent. There was nothing Said between the two of them for a while, only the crickets were heard.
The guilt was so quick to return as Iduna's appetite for chocolate died down. She closed the lid full of chocolates as she quickly cleared her throat and looked away. Still unsure what to even say.
"He was a great storyteller." Said Nora suddenly as Iduna looked up at her. "If you think I'm good you should heard him. He had endless stories to tell. Each of them told as if he was there."
Iduna looked into Nora's emerald and somber eyes. No tears escaped her as she looked into the crackling fire.
She looked up back at Iduna and smiled at her lovingly. "Should we head to bed? Tomorrow is your first day to school."
A small breath escaped Iduna's lips as she smiled back. "Please don't remind me.."
"You'll be fine." Chuckled Nora as she rose to her feet and outstretched her hand for Iduna to take.
"My Norwegian still isn't great.." said Iduna as she took it and promoted herself up.
"Are you kidding? It's getting better everyday and I'm correcting you less and less!" Argued Nora as she helped her up.
Iduna let out a nervous sigh. "I hope they don't hate me."
"Who?" Asked Nora as they began to walk up the hill.
"I don't know.. everyone.." Said Iduna as she started to nervously rub her arm.
"Eh, don't worry about them. Nobody could ever hate you, Iduna." Said Hanna as she wrapped her arm around her. "And if even if anyone did they'd have to go through me first."
Iduna laughed as they continued to walk together.
"I'll always protect you, Iduna." Said Nora as she rubbed Iduna's arm as they headed back inside to their home.
Ahtohallan
Iduna stood still with her hands in front of her. Her spirit glowing and beautiful as she waited patiently for her daughter to explain everythingas her icy blue eyes watched as Elsa finished retelling the story on the bench she has made of ice with her legs folded on top of the other.
"And so now we're in a dilema." Sighed Elsa tiredly. "King Soren has demanded that that Hans report to him at once. If Hans refuses, which he has, then he will be brought back by force as a prisoner by his brother. Forcing The king to break alliance with us for aiding a criminal."
"But even if he does return by his own will then you are breaching the contract you made with Hanna." Said Iduna wisely.
"Exactly. And all the provisions we received for the winter would be gone. Just like that." Said Elsa as she snapped her finger to make a point.
Iduna stared at her daughters face. She seemed exhausted. She couldn't even imagine how Anna was feeling at the moment.
"I see..." Iduna said softly again after the silence lingered between them. "And Anna? How is she taking the news."
"She seems more stressed than I am. She has no intention to break any laws and I stand behind her in that. But we're out of solutions. Arendelle is hanging by a thread at this point." Said Elsa.
"And God forbid with the ongoing conflict and the short supply of things any outsiders try to take advantage to raid Arendelle." Added Iduna.
"This is true also." Sighed Elsa again. "So.. now I'm here. Answering your call. Is something wrong?"
"No. But I knew something was wrong with my daughters." Smiled Iduna lovingly at her.
"How'd you know?" Asked Elsa with furrowed brows.
"A mother always knows, Elsa." Said Iduna with a small chuckle.
Elsa took in a deep breath before her icy blue eyes met Iduna's. "What do we do mother?"
"Whatever is best for our home, Elsa." Iduna replied as she walked up to her. "Both of them."
Elsa pressed her lips not satisfied by the answer.
"I know it may seem hopeless now but your hands aren't tied my dear. Even if you or Anna feel they are you shouldn't give up to find a solution. Both of you don't just represent your father and I. You represent all of Arendelle. And I know you both will make the right decision for Arendelle."
Elsa blinked as she listened to her mothers words.
"Now go. Get some rest. Tomorrow will be a new day and I have a feeling you'll have a better solution by then." Said Elsa as she smiled lovingly at Elsa. "I love you snowflake."
"I love you too mother." Smiled Elsa as she stood up on her feet and began to walk away as Iduna's spirit was taken back up to the Northern Lights.
She max she'd way out of Ahtohallan before jumping on top of the Nokk and rode back to Northuldra. When she had arrived the whole camp was fast asleep. The only ones awake were just guards on patrol.
She figured she should go see Hans. She couldn't waste time since he had only twenty four hours to give his answer.
She took Sitron with her and rode up the mountains until she arrived at the Four Peaks. She was about to enter the entrance to the cave when she started to hear laughter.
Very quietly she snuck her head in without anyone noticing and could see all three of the Westergaard siblings laughing and cracking jokes with one another as if there wasn't a weepy in the world.
And for the first time ever she could see Hans genuinely smile and laugh with them. It was strange to see because she was so used to his deadpanned stares and sarcastic marks.
Something came over her and instead of entering the cave she backed away as the laughter and jokes they told continued on.
She couldn't do it. She couldn't interrupt such a precious moment. Because for all they knew it'd probably be the last time they'd see each other.
And so she turned around with Sitron and headed back down to camp so she could call it a night and fall asleep.
Arendelle
She knew she wasn't going to get any sleep. She didn't even bother changing from her royal dress.
Instead she was walking around the castle with a lantern in her hand. She didn't know what she was looking for exactly, but she needed to clear her head somehow.
Under normal circumstances she would have gone to Kristoff and spent the night talking with him or even going on a little ride on his sleigh. But that was no longer the case anymore.
Instead she was by herself with millions of questions and concerns roaming her brain. She returned to the library again where Kristoff and her had the intense meeting in, hoping she could find answers through scholar books.
She flipped through every possible page it seemed like. But she still found no answers. She even looked at Arendelle's old laws but found no luck.
She sighed heavily as she closed the large book and set aside with a pile of others she had gone through.
She sunk into the sofa, exhausted by continuing to run into dead ends. She ran her face over her hands and massaged her temples before she rose to her feet again.
She went into her study chambers which used to belong to her fathers and to Elsa's. She began to walk around as she passed over all the painting that hung on the wall.
She traced her fingers over her family's portrait when they were children until she arrived at the large case at the corner.
It was full of alcoholic drinks. None of them belonged to her. They were her fathers. She recalled that her father used to enjoy a drink after a long day.
A small smirk appeared at the corner of her lips as she remembered how much stress she caused her father whenever she tried to kidnap and throw the beverages.
To her it was a game and they were toys full of apple juice. Little did she know they were worth millions of krones.
Her curiosity overcame her again as she wondered what it might taste like. She and Elsa weren't alcoholic drinkers. They've never had it and wine and Champaign's certainly didn't count.
She reached over for the large bottle of rum. Her fathers favorite drink. There engraved was the year 1786. It was as old as her and Elsa combined.
She pulled out a glass from one of the containers and then a bottle opener. She popped the rum open and immediately a strong musky smell hit her nose and overcame the room.
Her eyes shut tightly in disgust at the strong smell. She poured the drink into the glass just at the middle.
She took in a deep breath and raised the glass to her mouth and drank it one gulp.
"AHHHH!" She exclaimed as she began to cough repeatedly. Her whole throat felt like it was burning as she ran to the trash bin and began stick out her tongue and rinse out the foul taste with water.
"Plah! Plah!" She exclaimed as she started to spit saliva out of her throat. She was probably bent over the trash for a good minute.
Finally she rose again with eyes as red as her hair as she shook her head repeatedly just to make sure the after taste didn't linger.
She looked up at her fathers painting which he held the scepter and orb in his hand. Looking tall and mighty with the crown of Arendelle on his head.
"Really? You like that crap?" Hissed Anna in disgust to her fathers painting as she began to walk back to his large study desk.
She sat down on the large chair and leaned back as she let out a tired sigh again. There in front of the desk was the epistle that Hans brother brought from King Soren.
She grabbed it and began to read it again. Over and over. She was even starting to memorize it.
She sighed heavily again as she tossed it to the side where the bottle of rum still stood and knocked it over, spilling the alcohol all over the epistle.
"Shit shit shit.." said Anna as she quickly grabbed the epistle and began to wave off the alcoholic beverage in hopes of drying it up.
And that's when she saw it.
Her brows slightly propped up when she saw what was engraved at the bottom of the year 1786.
The Southern Isles.
Goosebumps filled her body as the hair in her arms and the back of her neck stood up. It's as if she had gotten a answer from God Himself. Or in this case, her father.
She turned to look at her father again, still standing tall and mighty as he looked dead on. She stared at the painting as the idea crossed her mind. A crazy, risky and interesting idea.
"Now I know why you drink that crap…" muttered Anna to her father as she quickly got up and began to plan her next move.
The Four Peaks
January 3rd, 1844
Elsa was arriving at the four peaks with Sitron by her side as she petted him with gentleness.
She found footprints on the snow and looked up to where it lead. There's she found him hunched over and putting out the fire he started that morning.
Elsa sighed and closed her eyes. The weight of Arendelle and the Southern Isles future depended on his choice and he was already starting his morning as if he nothing was bothering him.
"What are you doing?" She said abruptly.
"Putting out the fire." He grunted as he stood on his feet and began to move the burnt wood around with his boot.
Elsa watched as he made his way back to the cave and put on the large coat on himself, adjusting it to make sure he was warm from the constant cold.
"I'm also getting ready." He said looking at her.
Her brows furrowed and her head titled just slightly at his strange comment.
"What are you talking about?"
His stare was soft yet firm to her. He looked right at her and she only stared back, not at all understanding what he was trying to say.
Then his soft stare turned to the back of Elsa as light rustle of leaves and footsteps into the heavy snow could be heard. Out from the snowy trail appeared Björn with a group of armed men behind him.
Elsa's eyes widened at seeing this. She wasn't even aware they were behind her this whole time. She slowly turned to them, unsure as to what they were even doing up here. She could even see in Bjorn's blue eyes that he seemed very regretful.
"Hans." Sighed Björn finally. "Have you made a decision."
Hans said nothing. He only stared back at his brother with his relaxed and serious expression on his face. A small smirk appearing at the corner of his lips as if he was ready to accept his fate.
He looked fearless and calm. How a human being was able to adapt those two energies into one at this very precise moment was strange for Elsa to see. But Hans was always quiet but said so much just with his emerald eyes alone.
Björn pressed his lips. Hans didn't need to say anything. He knew his brother very well and his stare only confirmed the thing he had feared for.
"I'm sorry brother." Björn sighed heavily again. Hans didn't move a muscle as Björn turned to the men behind him and spoke in his Danish tongue. "Arrestér ham."
Elsa's eyes widened. She knew very well what that word meant. She watched as Bjorn's men stepped forward to where Hans stood still.
Elsa's heart dropped.
"Wait no!" She exclaimed as they approached a careless Hans. He gently and slowly gestures both his closed fists out.
Click. Click.
Elsa watched in horror as the shackles wrapped around his wrists, his ankles and even his neck. He was willingly giving himself up without putting up a fight or even speaking.
"Björn wait. Stop." Demanded Elsa as she approached him. "Please there must be another way-"
"I'm sorry, Queen Elsa." Said Björn as he watched his men finish adjusting the shackles. "But I have orders to bring him back by force if he refuses to make a decision."
Elsa looked back at Hans who said nothing and continued to stare out.
"But- but I promised your sister I would keep him safe. Please just give us a few hours-"
"My sister is already waiting back in Arendelle, Queen Elsa." Said Björn as Elsa's eyes widened. He then turned back his attention to his men and Hans.
Hans stared back at him and gave a quick but gentle nod.
Björn pressed his lips again. "Bring him. We're leaving."
Björn led the way as all his men started to follow behind and even gave Hans a nudge to start walking forwards. Hans did so as the sound of shackled noise followed with every step he took.
But Elsa quickly wasted no time and followed behind with Sitron as she continued to shout and plead with Björn. Even until they had arrived back at the camp where several Northudlrans had huddled to see what the whole commotion was about.
When they saw who it was many of them began to whisper with one another. Shocked by what they were witnessing. The outlaw finally under arrest.
Honeymaren was within the crowd with her brother and had her arms crossed as she stared with widened eyes as Hans was being guided in shackles by his brother. She couldn't believe it, neither could Rhanda who was watching nervously and with sadness.
Honeymaren quickly made her way to Elsa and pulled her to the side. There was too much going on at once and she needed answers. "Elsa, Elsa wait. What's going on?"
"They're taking him, Maren. They're taking back to the Southern Isles and breaking our allliance for good." Replied Elsa with annoyance before she quickly went back to following Björn and Hans.
"Wait!" Said Honeymaren after a while from being stunned by what Elsa said. "I'll come with you!"
Ryder furrowed his brows and quickly ran after his sister to follow her.
But Elsa was too focused on Hans and Björn at the moment that she didn't even hear Honeymarrn calling for her at all. She followed him to gangplank where several guards came in between Hans and Elsa. Preventing her from boarding the ship with him..
"Slip mig igennem!" Exclaimed Elsa in Danish angrily, demanding she let them in as she tried to push them away.
A viscous glare started to creep Elsa's face and she was getting ready to raise her hands and blast them with her ice but Björn stepped in from behind his soldiers.
"Let her through! She's the Queen of Arendelle she doesn't need to ask for permission!" Yelled Björn at his soldiers as they immediately did what they were told.
Elsa quickly came forward "Björn please-"
"We are returning to Arendelle. You may sail with us, Queen Elsa." Said Björn as Elsa stared with a confused stare still. Something strange was definitely going on but she wasn't going to linger on that thought.
She made her way up to the gangplank until Honeyamaren came sprinting from behind with Ryder.
"Stop! Elsa wait!" Exclaimed Honeyamren as grabbed a hold of the gangplank.
"Maren? What are you doing" Said Elsa with furrowed brows as she noticed Ryder finally catch up to his sister.
"I'm tired of being left out in the hoop of all things, Elsa!" Said honeymaren. "I need to know exactly what is going on so I can report back to Yelena."
"But Maren--"
"These are her orders. So I suggest you highly consider us coming with you." Demanded Honeymaren as she made a sure stance with her foot.
"I'm just following along.. trying to keep her company." Said Ryder as he scratched his head.
Elsa sighed and was about to open her mouth to tell them they couldn't come until suddenly Björn came forward and spoke.
"Come on in then." He said with a giant smirk as he cleared the way from soldiers who had gotten in stance again to prevent Ryder and Honeymaren from entering. "There's plenty of room for everyone."
Honeymaren rolled her eyes and wasted no time as she marched past the soldiers. Ryder who had been nervous and quiet from behind quickly did so too.
Elsa made herself aboard the ship.
"Where is he?" Asked Elsa as she started to follow Björn around.
Björn turned and gestured towards the back of the ship where Hans was still in shackles but was not moving. He was leaned on the rails as he stared out.
She didn't say anything. She didn't know what to even begin. Everything was so frightening at the moment. But what was even more frightening was that Hans was call in this whole situation.
"What are you thinking?" She asked him.
He shrugged calmly as he continued to look out to the view in front of him before he spoke differently." Nothing. Just trying to engrave this image in my head. Because this may be the last time I ever see it."
Elsa turned to follow his gaze where she could see a rather large view of the forest that was getting smaller and smaller each time the ship drifted further away.
There was even a large group of Northuldrans huddled at the camp with Yelena standing in the front as they watched that mysterious man whom had lived among them for three years for what could be the very last time.
Elsa turned back to look at him. His emerald eyes were soft. Almost as if he had accepted whatever came his way. He was looking at what had been his home for the past years vanish before his eyes.
Arendelle
They had been sailing for what seemed over an hour. Hans hadn't left his post once. Björn had come up many times offering food or somewhere warmer to stay at for his brother and Elsa but Hans had refused.
And if Hans had refused Elsa had no choice. She wasn't planning on leaving his side. She was still trying to get to the part where she would convince him to accept King Soren's deal.
But the time just wasn't right. She couldn't bring herself to even say it even though her whole kingdom was at stake.
"How far are we?"Said Honeymaren suddenly as she approached Elsa and Hans while adjusting her reindeer coat on herself.
"Well given the fact we can hear seagulls now.." said Hans as he looked up to the skies as Elsa and Honeymaren followed him where they could see seagulls flying over them. "I'd say we're getting close."
Honeymaren turned around to see where Ryder might be. She realized she hadn't seen him for a while. But when she found him her eyes widened.
There he was sharing what seemed a moment with Hans brother. Ryder was even laughing hysterically as he held his stomach and propped one hand on Bjorn's shoulder as if they were the best of friends.
"UGHHHH I'm gonna kill him!" Grunted Honeymaren under her breath as Hans and Elsa furrowed their brows at her.
She marched towards the two who were still laughing uncontrollably. "Ryder!" She exclaimed angrily.
"Oh hey Maren!" Chuckled Ryder as he wiped a tear away. "Wait till you hear Bjorn's story about that one time he- WHOA!"
"Come here idiot!" Hissed Honeymaren as she pulled her brother back to her side before she turned her attention back to Björn "What are you doing?"
"Huh?" Said Björn with a brow raised."
"Whatever game you are playing at stop it. And I mean it. Ryder may be gullible but I'm not." She threatened.
"Geez Maren he was just telling me a funny story of his time in Oslo." Said Ryder as he stuck his head in the conversation.
"Oh really?" Said Honeymaren sarcastically as she turned to her brother and then to Björn. "A funny story about Oslo. Is that what we were doing?"
"What's your problem?" Chuckled Björn with his arms crossed.
"You're my problem!" Said Honeymaren pointing her finger at him. "Ever since you came to Norway you've been nothing but trouble. First your brother brings chaos last year at the forest and now you? Is this some sort of cruel family tradition!?"
Björn couldn't help but grin at her. He couldn't stop staring at her.
"WHAT!?" She exclaimed as Björn started to laugh again.
"Nothing it's just.. you're cute when your angry you know that?" He said with a smirk.
"UGHHHHHHHHHHH!" She growled loudly as she stormed off with her brother who was trying not to trip over himself while Honeymaren dragged him away.
Björn laughed as he watched her march away. There was just something about her that was different. And he liked that. Even if she hated him.
"Captain?"
Björn turned to the young soldier approaching him.
"Yes Corporal?" He addressed him.
"We are approaching Arendelle." Said the young Corporal.
Björn sighed deeply as he started to make his way to Hans who was still looking out to the cold ocean with Elsa standing close by.
"Enjoying the view while you can?" Said Björn approaching Hans with his hands behind him.
"Not much of a view when everything is frozen solid." Replied Hans as he turned around to meet his brother.
Björn smirked before he started look at the shackles still chained on him.
"I'll have them removed as soon as we leave Arendelle. I promise. I even have a warm room for you to stay in so you can be as comfortable as you can before we arrive." Said Björn.
"You mean before Father executes me?" Said Hans with a raised brow and a smirk.
"Hey! Don't joke about that. Are you mad?" Said Elsa cutting in with annoyed brows before she turned her attention to Björn again. "What's gonna happen when he returns to Denmark."
"Well depending on my father he'll either send him straight to dungeons or meet him face to face. The second seems more likely in my opinion." Said Björn.
"I got my money on the dungeons." Smirked Hans.
"And what of us? Will he truly break our treaty within our kingdoms?" She asked.
"I.. don't know, Queen Elsa. I don't know if my father will demand Arendelle's help or find some way to avoid the treaty. I don't even have any idea why he requested Hans of all people." Explained Björn.
"Isn't it obvious? He requested all of us in one single place just to be present and bear witness of my execution." Sighed Hans with boredom.
"I have a feeling he won't, brother." Said Björn to Hans. "Listen Hans. There's something you need to know before we arrive to Arendelle."
HOORRNNNN!
"Land ho!"
Exclaimed one of the crew members from the top of the mainmast. Everyone including Honeymaren and Ryder began to walk towards the front of the deck of the ship where the Yule horn was blown from.
There was fog everywhere where nobody could see a thing anymore. Hans and Elsa slowly stood just a few inches apart from another as they stared out.
Finally the fogs started to rise and then the fjords could be seen appearing from a distance and the large Arendellian castles snowflake showing itself from the top of the tip.
But it wasn't just that. Below the specks and throughout the whole kingdom were hundred of people line up. There were large groups lined up on each side of the city.
That's when Hans realized what Björn was trying to tell him.
He turned to his brother and raised his brow.
"It's out of my control brother. Queen Anna's orders." Said Björn with a shrug.
"Well that makes sense." Smirked Hans before he turned to Elsa. "Any idea why she's giving throwing me a welcome party?"
"Anna intends to tell all of Arendelle everything we are facing through this difficult winter." Said Elsa ignoring his sarcasm. "And she plans to finally tell them about you."
"Wonderful. I'm sure all of Arendelle will get a kick when they see me rise from the dead again." Breathed of Hans a sarcastic breath.
The ship was only inches from making it to the Arendellian docks. Hans breathed in and nodded.
"Well then. Let's give Arendelle what they came here for."
Björn took Hans by the arm and gently guided him towards the exit where Honeymaren, Ryder and Elsa followed behind as well as many other Southern Isles soldiers.
The gangplank touched the docks and the Arendellian sailors below adjusted it to make sure it was steady for the descend.
Many waited impatiently to see who it was or what it was they were bringing from the massive ship. They had no idea what was going on. Simply that Queen Anna had ordered an important meeting with all of Arendelle's citizens. Even closing the schools for the day.
It was cold outside and the suspense grew as they heard footsteps descend from the gangplank with the sound of shackles shaking.
Many peaked their heads out from the crowd to get a better look. Parents were holding up their children on top of their shoulders in hopes they can describe what it was that came from the ship.
He took his final step into the Arendellian soil with Björn by his side and immediately many of the people started to murder with each other.
At first they only saw a handsome young man with a beard, chained in shackles. They didn't think much of it especially since he was unrecognizable with the beard.
But it didn't take long until they recognized who he truly was. The whispers and murmuring turned into gasps and loud conversations as they watched the mysterious man be escorted by another handsome man on one side and their Queen Elsa on the other side.
Even the children were hiding behind their parents as they realized those bed time melody's and stories about the monster of Arendelle were real. And not just real, but the monster had returned.
Hans walked without pace. He hadn't seen such a large multitude of people in such a long time. He was taking his time and would occasionally look to towards the crowd to see their faces.
Almost all of them would hide out of fear. Many were glaring and some whispering in front of him as if they were seeing the devil himself.
Even Elsa could see how traumatized her people were from him. He had left a permanent scar in Arendelle that it would never be able to heal.
They continued to walk past the markets and to the castles grounds where there was a still a large crowd waiting to see the stranger that had descended from the ship.
When they finally arrived to the castle's grounds, Elsa was surprised to find Hanna pacing back and forth as she played with her hands at the entrance of the bridge that led to the castle.
Anna was there also as was the rest of the party from yesterdays meeting. Even Kristoff was present. He stood just behind Anna with his hands behind his back.
She had purposely stood on the entrance of the bridge to make herself be seen taller so all her people can see her and hear her as well as sending a message that he would not enter the castle. That she would speak to everyone outside the castle so everyone can hear.
Hanna nervous face raised when she heard the shackles and the steps of the men approaching the castle. There she could see Hans being escorted by her brother with Elsa on the other side and large party following behind.
Hanna brows furrowed in annoyance.
"Ugh are you kidding me? Shackles. Really Björn?" Whispered and argued Hanna as she came forward to meet her brothers.
"It's just for show, Hanna. I'll take them off when we return to the ship." Said Björn to calm his already feisty sister.
They finally arrived to meet meet Anna and stopped just a few feet away from her. She was standing with her hands folded in front of her. Her face was calm yet serious.
Elsa left Hans side and went to stand next to her sister ate the bridge as she too folded her hands in front of her.
"Your majesties." Said Björn who bowed in respect to Anna and Elsa. Anna gently nodded in approval.
Then she finally looked up where the massive crowd of Arendellians were looking to her, waiting for her to speak.
She took a deep breath and began.
"People of Arendelle. Over three years ago, Arendelle hosted a coronation for my sister, Queen Elsa."
Everyone nodded and agreed as they turned to look at Elsa who could feel the spotlight at the moment.
"It achieved its goal and she was crowned Queen of Arendelle. Succeeding our father, King Agnarr."
Everyone grew silent for a moment as that name was announced. The respect they showed to the former king was immense.
"But some things happened. There were men who were trying to conquer our kingdom. And due to some unfortunate incidents. Our spring turned into winter." Said Anna.
Elsa cringed inwardly as she remembered that part was she own fault doing.
Anna turned her attention to the small party that had descended from the shop and gestured to one of them. "This man here is Prince Björn of the Southern Isles."
Whispers and murmuring were heard again when they realized they had a prince of their sworn enemy in their kingdom.
"I have welcomed him into our kingdom because he has come a long way with instructions from his king to bring back his brother."
Many of the people whispered with each other confused by the statement. There were still many who didn't recognize Hans. To be fair the beard and hair were hiding what used to be his face.
But others were connecting the dots and they were growing anxious as they waited for Anna to continue.
"The man.. you see in shackles before you.." said Anna slowly as she looked at Hans who was staring back without emotion. Never did she ever think she would say these words again. And in front of her own people nevertheless. "Is Hans Westergaard."
There was a massive uproar that could be heard throughout the whole kingdom immediately the name rolled of Anna's tongue.
Hissing, wailing and loud exclaims at the realization that the man who had almost destroyed Arendelle was back in their kingdom.
Elsa turned to look at Hans to see how he was. Much to her surprise he was still calm. There was even a small smirk appearing at the corner of his lips as if this was entertaining to him.
But his eyes were turning deep emerald again. And not just his. She turned to look at Hanna who was nervously biting her lip. Her eyes have gotten deep emerald like her brothers.
Damien had to step in with his guards to settle down the people so Anna can continue talking. They weren't getting violent at any means. The Arendellian people weren't like that. But they were making their voices heard.
"Looks like they missed you." Whispered Björn to his brother teasingly as Hans smirked again and misdeed.
Anna cleared her throat before she continued speaking. "You are all aware that last year Arendelle and the Southern Isles entered in alliance. Thanks to Princess Hanna and my sister, Queen Elsa.
Hans brows raised with a surprised expression as if he was mocking.
"You see for the past three years Hans had escaped his kingdom and went to live in many places until he arrived at Northuldra."
Many of the Arendellians couldn't believe what they were hearing. Ryder and Honeymaren watched this all play out as they crossed their arms.
"Queen Elsa found him living in the mountains. And instead of bringing him in or sending him back to his kingdom, she came up with a brilliant idea to fortify our kingdoms by allowing Princess Hanna visitation to see her brother."
"Her idea huh?" Said Hans as he looked at Elsa. Still forcing a expression to mock her as a smirk appeared in the corner of his lips.
Esa rolled her eyes. She couldn't believe he was actually upset Anna didn't mention it was originally his idea to begin with.
"And thanks to Princess Hanna's cooperation, she was able to grant us alliance with the Southern isles in exchange to visiting her brother and keeping him safe." Added Anna.
The crowd murmured again as they listened to the whole story.
"Now I know how you all must feel." Said Anna as she looked out to her people "I know that it may seem that I kept this giant secret hidden from you and truth be told, I have."
"Oh look. Guess lying isn't such a bad thing huh.." muttered Kristoff under his breath who was still standing behind with his arms crossed.
Anna heard him and her blood was boiling now. She wanted to turn around and punch him but it wasn't the time.
"But my sister taught me that at times it is better to withhold information until it's purpose is fulfilled. Sometimes it is for the greater good." She added.
"I'll say- OWWW!" Grunted Kristoff as the back heel of Anna's boot collided against his shin.
"Seriously!?" He hissed as he started to jump on one foot while he held the other one with his hands.
Nobody had any idea why Kristoff was jumping and grunting. Anna was so quick to kick him with her heel that no one had noticed. Hans furrowed his brows at seeing the large mountain man. He certainly was a character.
"Despite the details behind the alliance, everything else was completely revealed to all of you." Continued Anna as she ignored Kristoff. "We announced the alliance between the Southern Isles and Arendelle immediately as Princess Hanna arrived at our shores and signed our treaty."
Elsa watched as the murmurs of her people quickly died down. It seemed one by one the people were starting to understand.
"Had it not been for our alliance this winter would have been worse for us. Its thank to the Southern Isles that we have been able to help our farmers grow enough crops." Said Anna as she looked out to the party in front of her.
There was Hans with his usual deadpanned face. He was patient and waiting for her to get to the good part. But Anna wanted to roll her eyes. For her and her people it wouldn't be good.
"But I'm afraid.. that may be coming to an end."
Immediately the atmosphere of the air changed and it wasn't because of a cool breeze that had happened to go by just as she had said that.
Everyone had grown tense. Even the children were listening in anticipation.
"Due to the ongoing conflict with Sweden and Denmark.. I'm afraid it has affected us too.." Said Anna slowly.
The uproar began again. Hans rolled his eyes it was like a never ending choir.
"King Soren of the Southern Isles has given orders that his son Hans Westergaard is to return to the Southern Isles immediately. I do not know why. But in doing so it will breach our contract with Princess Hanna and I... and with Arendelle."
Elsa breathed in as she watched everyone start to panic again.
"My hands are tied.. if I refuse to turn in Hans than I am breaking Danish law by refusing to turn in their convicted felon." Said Anna.
Nobody knew what to say anymore. The news just grew worse and worse. Not even Elsa in all her experience could resígnate or come up with a valid input.
It seemed for a moment that everyone was going to turn and go home with the horrible news they received.
"But.." began Anna as everyone looked up at her again. "That doesn't mean I'm going to sit here and do nothing!"
Everyone's eyes widened. Even Elsa was surprised by the sudden loud exclamation. Even Hans was taken back somewhat.
"I will not allow any kingdom or any war destroy ours. I refuse to accept that this is our only option. No. I will not let our kingdom be left astray like this!"
Many took admiration to Anna's bold words. They could sense the passion in her heart and even many little girls were staring at her as she spoke.
"I shall go to the Southern Isles."
Hans eyes widened. He couldn't believe what he just heard. He quickly shot a look at Hanna who was also staring at Anna with widened eyes. Everybody was. Even Elsa.
"What did she just say?" Whispered Hans to Björn who was scratching the back of his head.
"King Soren has asked that the reigning monarchs of Scandinavia who have alliance with the Southern Isles come to discuss further in regards to this ongoing threat with Sweden.
We may not be ally's at the moment. But I will go to the Southern Isles to show king Soren that we are not going sit idle by and wait until this is all over. I will go to the southern isles now. Immediately. And I will make sure we have our provisions returned to us!"
Clapping started to be heard throughout the massive crowd and even cheering. Soon enough the whole crowd was rooting and praising Anna as if she was their savior.
Even Elsa was stunned. She never received such a admirable applause and gesture from her people like Anna was receding at this very moment.
Anna breathed in and closed her eyes as she tried to steady her nerves. Then she opened them again and smiled gently at her people before she turned to Björn and nodded.
Björn inhaled deeply and quickly turned Hans around as he guided him back to the docks while passing through the large praising crowd of Arendellians.
Meanwhile Hanna and Elsa were approaching Anna with a million questions.
"Björn!" Exclaimed Hans to his brother. "Björn did you know about this!?"
"Get in the ship I'll tell you there-"
"No bullshit, Björn! Did you bloody plan this? Answer me!" Exclaimed Hans angrily as they arrived the docks.
"Let us through." Said Björn to his soldiers as they went up the gangplank. Hans was squirming around to be set free.
When they arrived at deck Björn quickly turned Hans around to face him. He was raging with anger.
"Let him out of those damn shackles." Ordered Björn. "Now!"
Immediately the soldiers did as they were told and Hans was finally set free from the shackles as he started to massage his wrists before marching towards Björn.
"What in the hell is going on!?" Exclaimed Hans.
"Hans this war just got worse." Said Björn as he guided Hans to the corner of the ship so no one would hear them. "Last night the Northern Isles were attacked. Many houses were set on fire by Lars men."
Hans furrowed his brows. "What?"
"Father has commanded that all Scandinavian kingdoms he has alliance with come to the Southern Isles for an emergency meeting.. he has officially ruled the meeting an order from the king of kings." Said Björn as Hans eyes widened.
"But why Arendelle? Didn't they breach the contract-"
"Father is willing to negotiate a chance for Arendelle to remain an ally. Anna is going to make her case and father will hear her out." said Björn as Hans shook his head in disbelief. "I didn't tell you because we just got word late last night by one of our men."
"So.. that means-"
"As of right now we have The Northern Isles, Oslo, Uppsala, Tromsø and Reykjavik who have accepted fathers invitation. Including Arendelle."
"And the rest?" Asked Hans.
Björn sighed and shook his head. They have all pledged their allegiance to Lars, Hans..." said Björn. "All of them."
Hans sighed and started to walk around in frustration as he looked up to the sky.
Just then Hans could hear a ship sailing close by. He turned to the other side where a Arendellian ship aligned itself next to that of The Southern Isles.
Not as large and grand as the one of Arendelle's. It was as if a puppy made its way next to a full grown dog.
"You're shitting me.." said Hans turning to Björn.
"Their ships would never cross these frozen waters, Hans. At least not without us guiding the way. They're going to follow us." Said Björn.
Hanna and the rest of her woman including Kristina made it into Björn's ship with all of her luggage and provisions she had brought from Denmark.
And meanwhile just on the other side was Anna and Elsa with Damien who were entering the Arendellian ship.
"Well this day just keeps getting better and better." Said Hans sarcastically as he addressed the other party on the other ship.
"Trust me if it were up to me I'd rather sail with a ship full of monkeys." Retaliated Anna back as Hans rolled his eyes.
"You okay?" Asked Hanna as she approached her brother.
"When do we depart." Asked Anna to Björn from the other ship.
"If that's everyone that'll board the ship then we can depart now-"
"STOP!" Came a sudden exclaim as everyone furrowed their bows.
They all peeked their heads out to see who that was except Anna who slapped her forehead knowing that voice very well.
"I demand to go!" Said Kristoff as he ran up the gangplank of Arendelle's ship with bags over his body.
"No! No!" Exclaimed Anna as she started marching forward. "Lieutenant get him off the ship."
Damien went to retrieve Kristoff until suddenly he pulled out a letter from his pocket. "I have permission!"
Anna's brows furrowed in anger. "From whom!"
Damien retrieved the letter as he read it carefully. Slowly everyone could see his furrowed brows relax. "From.. me?"
"Wait what?" Said Anna as she snatched the letter from Damien's hand. She skimmed through the letter quickly before she suddenly put it to the side which Elsa took and began to read. "You signed up for the Arendellian army?"
A loud exasperated laugh suddenly burst into air as everyone turned to Hans from the other ship who had been sitting on the bench. He was leaned forward and holding his stomach.
"You? A soldier? HA!" He exclaimed again cruelly as Hanna punched her brothers arm. Björn was trying to hide his laugh.
"Well I think I'd make a pretty good soldier considering the fact I almost wiped your ass to the dirt last time." Retaliated Kristoff.
"Yeah almost. Last I remember I was putting you to sleep asshole-"
"Shhhh!" Said Hanna as she shushed her brother and held him back. Hans had even rose to his feet.
Anna shook her head in disbelief. "Since when did you want to become a soldier?"
"Well since I recently encountered a change of plans for my future." Replied Kristoff sarcastically with a glare shot at Anna.
Elsa was confused as to what was going on with these two as she looks at Anna and then back at Kristoff repeatedly.
Anna glared back and shook her head again. "No. Absolutely not. Lieutenant get Kristoff out of my sight. I want him gone from this ship now."
"I'm sorry, your majesty. I cannot." Said Damien.
Anna was walking away but stopped dead in her tracks when she heard that. "Huh?" She said turning around to him with widened eyes.
"Well he signed a contract. And according to the old law I cannot deny him without valid reason." Said Damien.
"B-but. But he's haven even had proper training!" Exclaimed Anna with her hands gestured at him.
"I'll say." Agreed Hans as Elsa stuck her hands out at him.
"Shut it or I'll freeze your mouth off." She hissed from the other side of the ship.
"I don't see any reason to deny him, your majesty." Said Damien as he turned to Kristoff and Anna. "He passed all the medical exams with flying colors and says here he already settled matters of his personal aside for the next three months of training. He's signed up to be available today."
Anna looked up to the heavens and grunted loudly before she turned to them again. "Fine. He can come but keep him busy and train him."
"Of course, your majesty." Bowed Damien as they watched Anna storm off. "Since you'll be under my care go ahead and put your luggage away. Then meet me at the dock."
"Yes sir." Said Kristoff as he gave a clumsy salute before he rushed off to where Anna was headed.
Elsa watched him go with his arms crossed. She's never seen anything like this from them in her life. Something was up and she needed to find out.
"Nice try." Said Kristoff as he caught up to Anna. "Trying to deny me from entering aboard. Well it just so happened I-"
"Why did you even sign up for the army in the first place? To follow me?" Said Anna as she turned around to him angrily.
"For your information i actually signed up a few days ago after I ended my engagement." He replied as Anna rolled her eyes. "And I might as well come now seeing as if how your putting yourself and Elsa in danger."
"Hah! Me in danger? Elsa? Please. Did you forget I have the strongest sister alive in this earth? Kristoff just stay out of my sight. Stay with Damien stay with anyone. I don't care. Just leave me alone." Said Anna as she started to march off again.
"Gladly! And I'll be sure to serve her royal majesties the best I can! Cause isn't that what you want, for everyone to always praise you!" Exclaimed Kristoff even angrily as Anna shut her ships quarters where she would be staying at.
She leaned her head back as soon as she was alone and breathed in and out slowly as the stress continued to overcome her.
The North Sea
The two ships had already started to depart. All the arendellians were in the Arendellian ship as they followed close behind the large Southern Isles ship that lead the way where Hanna, Björn and Hans were in.
It was starting to get dark and Kristoff had been at the lower deck with Damien and a bunch of other recruits as they went over some basic ground rules and instructions.
Damien had made it clear to them and especially Kristoff that this training was only temporary. For right now they'd be serving under his wing as helpers but as soon as they return to Arendelle they were required to complete the theee months of Arendellian army boot camp.
Hans and Hanna were sitting with each other on a bench near the front of the deck and Cassandra was leaned on top of the rails. She had included herself in the conversation as they spoke about just everything that had come to mind.
But mostly the thing they talked about the most was the fact that they were returning to the Southern Isles
"You nervous?" Asked Cassandra as she finished eating the leg of a roasted chicken.
"To be executed? Ehh. I always wanted to die in the battle field. Being executed sounds like a boring death-"
"Stop it! Don't joke about things like that!" Said Hanna as she punched her twin brothers arm as Cassandra erupted into laughter.
"It wasn't a joke." Chuckled Hans as he took another bite of his roasted chicken.
"You know you both exaggerate so much." Said Björn who was coming from behind. "I don't think father going to kill you."
"Is the same old man we're talking about?" Said Hans with a brow raised.
"No Bjorn's right." Said Hanna. "Father wouldn't have ordered you to come if it wasn't important. And not just you but all of our brothers in one room? It's obvious he's up to something."
"Yes. To have them as witnesses of my killing." Said Hans as he stood up to his feet while Hanna rolled her eyes at his comment. "Do you have more rum?"
"What kind of question is that? Of course I always have rum." Said Björn with a smirk.
"Well then let's drink. I mean it's going to be my last night as a free man of sorts. Might as well." Said Hans before he turned to his sister. "What do you say, Hanna. You in?
Hanna sighed before she too rose to her feet as well. "Obviously I'm in. Let's see if you both can still handle your drink. Cass?"
"Mm. Count me in." She said with a mouth full of the chicken meat.
"All right. I'll go prepare the drinks." Chuckled Björn as they followed him into his chambers.
Just on the other side of the ship it wasn't so lively however. Everyone was getting ready to go to bed. Kristoff was headed to bathe after the long day he had with Damien.
He passed by Anna and gave her a quick glance to which she ignored completely. Kristoff shook his head in annoyance and kept walking.
Elsa noticed it. She's seen them have little conflicts and disagreements here and there. She's even seen it with her own parents so it had to be normal.
But this was different. There was just a cold rivalry between the two of them.
"How are you feeling?" She asked as she approached her sister.
"Huh?" Asked Anna as she turned around to face her.
"You know. Being aboard a ship again. After mother and father.." said Elsa.
"Oh. You know I'm surprisingly fine with it." Shrugged Anna. "I mean I have you here. If I was by myself perhaps it'd be different."
"I feel that too." Nodded Elsa with her arms crossed as she made her way next to Anna. "I must admit it is quite thrilling being in one especially this far into the ocean.
"Yeah." Chuckled Anna as they looked out to the endless water in front of them.
"So." Said Elsa suddenly as the tone in her voice changed. "You plan on telling me what's going on between you and Kristoff?"
Anna's eyes widened but she quickly covered them with her furrowed brows. "What do you mean?"
"Isn't it obvious?" Said Elsa. "The two of you have been acting like complete vengeful strangers."
Anna pressed her lips and looked away. There was no point in hiding it. Her sister knew her.
"Not to mention that you haven't been yourself." Said Elsa. "Now I know this whole situation with Denmark and Sweden has been stressful but you were able to give quite a speech back in Arendelle and making bold decisions. Which to be fair I stand behind with. But something is up with you, Anna."
Anna as quiere again. She looked down at her fingers and rubbed the one which used to posses her engagement ring.
"Anna." Said Elsa more directly.
Anna sighed and grabbed her sisters arm, tugging at it as she led the way to her chambers she shared with Elsa.
"Okay. You plan on telling me now?" Said Elsa as she closed the doors so it was just the two of them.
Anna made her way over to her giant guest bed and sat on the corner as she hugged her arms. Her whole posture was gullible and her expression was full of exhaustion and sadness.
"Kristoff and I ... broke our engagement."
Elsa's eyes widened. Not in a million years did she expect Anna to say that. That was the last thing she would've have suspected.
"What?" Said Elsa softly.
Anna couldn't hold it anymore. She covered her mouth and face to hide her tears and prevent a cry from escaping her lips. Elsa quickly jumped forward and sat on the bed with Anna as she wrapped her arm around her.
"Shhh it's okay. There there just.. breath-" Elsa tried calming her but Anna continued to cry now into her shoulder.
Elsa made herself comfortable since she thought Anna would be in that position for a while but to her surprise Anna quickly backed away from Elsa's embrace.
"No. No I have to be strong." Said Anna as quickly as she wiped away her tears and cleared her throat.
"Anna it's okay to let it out-"
"No, Elsa." Said Anna boldly which caught Elsa off guard. "No this is what's best for us."
"But what do you mean?" Argued Elsa with furrowed brows as slowly unwrapped her arms around Anna. "You two have been together for years! Did something happen between the two of you? I'm sure it's not so drastic to end a engagement-"
"Elsa he lied to me!" She said with emotion in her voice. "For years!"
Elsa's eyes widened even wider. "He was unfaithful? I'm gonna kill him-"
"No!" Said Anna as she dragged her sister back down from getting off the bed. "He didn't lie to me in that way."
"Well what are you saying then?" Asked Elsa.
Anna took a deep breath before she began. "For years Kristoffs been miserable in Arendelle. Faking every happy memory we made at the castle and in our lives because he hates it."
Elsa stayed quiet as she listened to her speak.
"I mean can you believe it? Years! He hated everything about it. The meetings, the ballrooms, the dancing, the foreign visits, the duties that came with a royal. Everything!" Exclaimed Anna.
"Wow.." said Elsa softly. "When did he tell you?"
"A few days ago. The Nokk offered him a ride, but I guess he sensed that Kristoff's heart was full of lies and tried drowning him. I went to save him, but when Nokk almost slammed him into sharp rocks, he finally confessed." Anna explained.
"Wait, so Nokk is the reason this happened?!" Elsa exclaimed.
Anna nodded. "I should've known.. he hates going out! He hates being around people and he hates dancing. He only pretended to enjoy those things cause of me. That's it- oh and get this. He says he would never bring a child into this world. The royal life world."
"Well.. that's not fair." Said Elsa as she crossed her arms. "You and I are royals. We act normal all the time."
"I know!" Exclaimed Anna angrily. "And to drop that bullshit on me? Like why be with me if you know that's who I am. But no. He only did it to make me happy while he's miserable."
"So.. that's it? You guys are just done then?" Asked Elsa.
"Were not meant for each other, Elsa." Sighed Anna as she fell flat back on the bed. "Honestly who are we kidding it wouldn't have worked. We both live totally different lives. While I'm here fulfilling my duties as queen he'd rather be in the mountains hidden away from society."
Elsa pressed her lips as she watched her sister explain with honesty and emotion in her voice.
"I need someone who will support me and be my rock. As wife, mother and queen." Sighed Anna heavily again. "Kristoff needs someone like him. A commoner who wants to have that private and solemn life.."
Elsa looked at her exhausted sister sadly as she too joined her and laid back with her in bed.
"I'm so sorry Anna.." said Elsa softly as she placed a gentle kiss on her forehead.
"It's for the better, Elsa.." sighed Anna. "I wouldn't be able to forgive myself for marrying someone who hates their life. I mean can you imagine my children seeing their father like that?"
"I suppose your right.." agreed Elsa. "But now I'm curious.. why exactly is he on the ship if you guys are over?"
"Who knows!" Exclaimed Anna with frustration as she threw her hands up. "Supposedly he signed up after we finished our engagement which also made no sense as to why he even signed up in the first place.. I mean you'd think he run off to the motions s or something."
"Is he trying to you know.. win you back?" Asked Elsa.
"No." Said Anna shaking her head. "He said so himself that this changes nothing."
"Wow.. so this really is the end huh?" Said Elsa.
Anna nodded. "Guess I'm back to being Anna the doofus again. Two engagements. Other kingdoms must think I'm a laughing butt of a never ending joke."
"Never mind what they think!" Said Elsa as she snuggled closer to her sister. "You're a queen. You're gonna have a million kingdoms and countries asking for your hand in marriage."
"Honestly this might sound crazy.. but I think I'm done dating for a while.." Said Anna.
Elsa's eyes widened and she had to sit up. "Wait what?" Anna looked at her sister with confused and furrowed brows
"Do we need to see a doctor or something? You. Anna. Actually want to stop dating?" Asked Elsa.
"Shut up!" Said Anna as she pushed her sister who was starting to laugh. "I know I get it okay? I'm a hopeless romantic and was always desperate to get married. Even as a young girl."
"Young girl? More like a baby!" Teased Elsa as Anna stuck her tongue out at her. "But seriously Anna. Are you sure that's what you want? Cause you know the council is going to pressure you to marry right away once they find out you and Kristoff are no longer engaged."
"Ehh they can kiss my ass for all I care." Said Anna as Elsa giggled at her. "I'm gonna take a play out of your book and focus on myself and the Arendelle. I don't have time for men anymore."
Elsa pressed her lips and cuddled next to Anna again who wrapped her arm around her. "If that's what you really want sis then I'll support you. As long as your happy."
"It's gonna take some time to heal.." said Anna. "I feel like this is the best way to heal."
"Don't forget chocolates too." Said Elsa teasingly.
"Ughhhhh don't remind me! I wish there was some on board right now." Whined Anna. "Hey you think you can summon Gale for a favor?"
"Anna! I'm not gonna use Gale to steal us chocolate!" Retaliated Elsa.
"It's not stealing! More like.. borrowing." Said Anna as Elsa erupted into laughter.
Back on the other ship Hans, Björn, Hanna and Cassandra were engaging in endless conversation filled with laughter as they poured themselves drink again and again.
"Wait. Hold on." Chuckled Björn as he poured more run into Cassandra's cup. "You're telling me Prince Eugene of Corona actually walked in on Queen Arianna.. naked?"
"I was there." Said Cassandra with a smirk as she took another sip of her rum while Björn erupted into laughter. "He was serenading his way into the king and queens giant chambers because he saw what he thought was Rapunzel naked and changing into a dress."
Björn erupted into laughter.
"How the hell does he get his own mother in law and his own wife confused?" Asked Hanna.
"To be fair Rapunzel and Queen Arianna look a lot alike. Only difference is Rapunzel had short hair at that time. Eugene only saw brown hair from the small door crack and a naked woman's body that resembled a lot like Rapunzels so.. he only assumed it was her." Explained Cassandra as Björn erupted into laughter again.
"What an idiot." Chuckled Hans as he took another drink of his rum.
"And they were technically supposed to be in Munich and Rapunzel would occasionally go into her mothers chambers to pick out some stuff to wear. He just didn't expect them to arrive so early from the trip." Shrugged Cassandra.
"I wish I could see the look on his face." Said Björn as he cleared his throat.
"Oh he was mortified. He couldn't look at his future mother in law in the face for the rest of that year. He only made their encounters awkward while the queen tried to remain composed. I still laughed however." Said Cassandra as she took another drink.
"Good the king didn't find out." Sneered Hanna as she held out her cup for Björn to pour more rum.
"Can you imagine? This is sort of like that story you told me about you and the Northuldran girl-"
"Shhhh!" Hissed Hans as he elbowed Björn on his ribs. But it was too late.
"Wait hold on. What Northudlran girl?" Said Hanna as she sat up now in full attention.
"You never told her?" Said Björn with furrowed brows.
"Why would I tell her!?" Retaliated Hans.
"Now I'm dying to know the story." Chucked Cassandra teasingly as she took the rum from Bjorn's hand to our herself.
"Tell me what." Ordered Hanna as she raised an impatient brow at Hans.
He sighed heavily and rolled his eyes. He had no choice this time and he knew his sister well enough that she would beat it out of him if she needed to. "Okay fine. Honeymaren and I-"
"I KNEW IT! You slept with her!" Said Hanna as she rose from the chair with a giant grin on her face while pointing at Hans.
Hans was taken back by the sudden loud bark from Hanna while Cassandra and Björn erupted into laughter
"Wait what!" Exclaimed Hans now with furrowed brows. "No no-"
"It all makes sense now. You were acting so weird when you went to go bathe. You met up with her at the hot springs didn't you?" Said Hanna.
"Typical Hans." Chuckled Cassandra again as she drank and winked at her former mercenary partner.
And sexual partner.
"No! Ughhhh." Exclaimed Hans with rolled eyes.
"He didn't hump her, Hanna." Chuckled Björn. "Instead our brother here choked her."
"Choked her?" Said Hanna and Cassandra in union as Hans slapped his forehead.
"I mean you weren't much of a choker when we were in Spain. You're more of a hair pulled. New guilty pressure?" Asked Cassandra.
"No no. You don't understand." Chuckled Björn. "Hans here choked her.. because she was stroking him."
Hans was leaned back on his seat with his palm covering his face as Björn erupted into laughter again. Meanwhile Cassandra and Hanna were staring at Hans with widened eyes.
"Wait. You mean to tell me Honeymaren gave you a handy and all you do was choke her?" Said Hanna with a laugh about to escape her lips.
"By force." Retailed Hans.
"How? The girl is lighter than me or Hanna. How did she just force you and you couldn't escape?" Asked Cassandra as she began to laugh to.
"It all happened so fast okay! I was going to the hot springs to bathe. I didn't know she was there bathing already. She threatened to tell everyone I was spying on her bathe naked and proceeded to interrogate me and then stroke me.. I-I don't know it happened all so fast." Said Hans like a blubbering idiot.
Hanna and Cassandra were laughing so hard with Björn that even Hanna had to wipe a tear away from her eye.
"All right laugh it up." Sighed Hans with annoyance as Cassandra began to cough and clear her throat so she can talk again.
"Wow Westergaard. I didn't take you for much of a submissive one. Guess people really do change." Said Cassandra teasingly.
"And you didn't sleep with her? Wow. Just a stroke, a choke and move on I guess." Added Hanna to the teasing as Cassandra laughed.
"Ha ha. Very funny. Go on make fun of me. But I'm telling you that girl is bad news. That's why you need to stay away from her." Said Hans as he looked at Björn again.
"What do you even see in her anyways? I mean she is beautiful but that girl has zero interest in you. Even for a one time hook up." Added Hanna.
"I don't know." Said Björn as he raised his glass full of rum to his lips. "I guess she's.. different."
"Pfft. I'll say." Teased Hanna again as she shot a glance at Hans.
"Oh really? Can't let that go huh? Well at least I'm not the one who had father walk in on them the day they lost their virginity-"
"HEY! Now that's too far!" Exclaimed Hanna with obvious embarrassment and annoyance as she pointed at Hans. But it was too late. Björn was already erupting into laughter again.
"Wait time out!" Said Cassandra as she made a gesture with her hands. "Come again now? Your father. King Soren walked in on you?"
"Ughhhhh." Groaned Hanna as she did her face with her hands.
"We were fourteen-" began Hans.
"STOP!" Exclaimed Hanna as she jumped to her feet to try to strangle him from talking. But Björn got in the way so Hans can continue telling the story.
"That time Hanna was dating her first boyfriend ever." Said Hans as continued to retell the story.
Hanna gave up trying to run past her brother and walked back to her seat as she leaned back on it with a upset face.
"What was his name again? Canut or something like that.."
"It was a strange name.. it sounded like coconut to me."
"His name was Kennet." Corrected Hanna with rolled eyes as she pinched the bridge of her nose.
"That's right! Kennet! He was one of the stable boys from that time. He was eighteen years old I believe. Hanna was in love with him. I mean she was crazy over him." Said Björn chuckling as he took another drink.
"She would sneak out of our studies just to follow him around and ask him a thousand questions. She would even bring him food and snacks from the kitchen." Laughed Hans as Björn and Cassandra joined in.
"I was fourteen okay!? He's the first guy I was actually attracted to and close by." Argued Hanna.
"She got so mad at me when I found drawings and even paintings of Kennet." Laughed Hans as he tried drinking his rum but failed. "There was even one she drew of him on top of a horse shirtless-"
"Shut it!" Yelled Hanna as she drove the back of her boot on Hans leg which made him grunt but continue to laugh with Björn.
"Wait so how did your dad walk in on you two then?" Asked Cassandra very intrigued.
"They started dating in secrecy okay? Only Björn and I knew of them. They started to get close and very intimate and then one day our sister here had a bright idea?" Said Hans looking at Hanna who rolled her eyes.
"What bright idea?" Asked Cassandra smiling at Hanna.
Hanna sighed. "We were making out and having normal conversation and he casually mentioned how big and comfortable a kings bed must be like."
Björn and Hans erupted into laughter again. This time Hanna kicked the two of them.
"So you took him to your fathers chambers!?" Exclaimed Cassandra with widened eyes.
"Go on tell the rest of the story!" Said Björn as he and Hans continued to laugh.
Hanna rolled her eyes and sighed again. "We were already getting intimate and it was bound to lead up to actual sex. So I took advantage the next day while my father was gone visiting Copenhagen and snuck him into my fathers chambers."
Cassandra's eyes widened again.
"She even had us help him sneak in. She gave us half of her allowance for the year just to make sure we can create a distraction from the guards who were at post in the halls." Added Björn.
"No way.." said Cassandra as she rested her chin on her two palms.
"Anyways. One thing led to the other and we were having sex in my fathers bed.." said Hanna.
"And?" Said Hans as he and Björn leaned in teasingly.
She sighed heavily again. "He was just about to finish when the door started to open.."
"Oh my God. Don't tell me he saw you." Said Cassandra.
"No. I was so fast that I jumped out of bed naked and all and dragged him with me." Said Hanna as a loud sneer wanted to escape Bjorn's lips.
"Dragged him? Where?"
Hanna covered her eyes with her hands before finally removing them and continuing. "Under the bed.."
Björn and Hans erupted into laughter again. They sounded like two hyenas in the wild. Cassandra was so in shock with the story that she could only cover her mouth.
"Wait! Wait! It gets better." Said Hans as he was trying to catch his breath.
"He didn't see you?" Asked Cassandra as she removed her hand from her mouth.
"No.." sighed Hanna with embarrassment. "Because he was too busy.. sleeping with Ingrid."
Cassandra's jaw dropped and Hans and Björn were practically rolling on the floor from all the laughing.
"Ingrid.. you mean your fathers first wife?" Asked Cassandra.
Hanna nodded her head with closed eyes as she turned to her laughing brothers.
"So just seconds after Kennet and Hanna finished having sex. Father and Igrid walked in and started having sex right on top of where they were hidden!" Laughed Hans as Björn joined and began to wipe his tears.
"It was horrifying! It took me years to get the loud moans, smacks and grunts they were making out of my head! We had to wait for over an hour after they finally fell asleep to sneak out." Exclaimed Hanna to her laughing brothers. "And Ingrid is a freak. And not in a good way!"
This time Cassandra couldn't hold her laugh. She too fell to her knees and began to hold her stomach from the pain involving.
"All right enough already!" Exclaimed Hanna as she started to stomp on her brothers stomachs.
"Oh.. wow." Said Björn as he finally rose to his feet to calm his constant laughing. "Man I forgot all about that story."
"Hey. Whatever happened to Kennet anyways?" Asked Hans as he sat back on the chair.
Hanna shrugged. "No idea. He quit working at the stables a month after. Didn't even say goodbye or anything. I always thought maybe father found out and fired him."
"Or worse put him to death." Chuckled Cassandra as suddenly the light hearted mood changed.
The realization of Hans possibly dying tomorrow settled again. Even the smirk Hans had been displaying faded away as he quickly took the last sip of his rum to hide his face.
Cassandra cleared her throat as she quickly returned to her rum. It was silent for a moment before Hanna rose to her feet.
"Well. I better get some sleep I suppose. Tomorrows gonna be... a long day." Said Hanna as she picked up the rest of the poured rum to throw away. She was feeling in the mood to drink anymore. "Where the trash, Björn?"
"Right there. Below the cabinet." Said Björn as he gestured to the nearby cabinet before he returned to his poured drink.
"I think I better head out too. It's dark outside." Said Cassandra as she rose to her feet.
"You wanna sleep in here tonight?" Asked Björn as he placed a hand on hand shoulder. "I have spare bed? It's better than sleeping in the berthing compartment. It's abandoned there and full of sailors hammocks.
"Actually I'll take the hammocks." Smirked Hans softly.
"You sure? I don't mind at all brother." Said Björn.
"I'm sure. Besides it's warmer there and I love sleeping in the hammocks." Said Hans.
"Right. Sailor. I forgot." Smirked Björn as Hans chuckled at him.
"JESUS BJÖRN!" Exclaimed suddenly Hanna as they all turned to look at her with furrowed brows. "You keeping a collection now?"
They followed Hanna's pointed finger at the cabinet were there were what it seemed hundreds of woman's under drawers crumbled into one drawer.
"Oh shit. I was supposed to throw those away. Sorry Hanna.." said Björn innocently as Cassandra began to laugh.
"Trust me. Do yourself a favor and burn them. You have hundreds of their discharge crumbles up into one." Said Hanna with a chuckle as she closed the drawer.
"All right. Get out of here mom." Teased Björn as he gently tried to trip Hanna as she was walking out the door.
"Good night Björn." Said Hans as he quickly and firmly squeezed his shoulder while standing to his feet.
"Good night sailor. Get some good deserved rest." Said Björn as he watched his brother and sister began to walk out the door.
"Former sailor. Haven't been one forever." Corrected Hans with brows fussed as he turned to look at his Björn.
"You're still one to me. Admiral Westergaard." Said Björn with a gentle smile. "As well as a prince."
Hans was quiet for a moment as a sad smirk appeared at the corner of his lips before he closed the door behind him.
Immediately they were met with the cold air. It was dark out but the shining moon above them helped them see each other.
"All right. Good night Westergaard. Try not to sneak over to Honeymarens ship all right?" Teased Cassandra.
"Ha ha. Very funny." Said Hans as Cassandra smiled at him.
Her stare lingered on his handsome face for quiet a while as if she missed him before she finally blinked again and forced herself to head back into the guest quarter rooms.
Hans and Hanna were left alone as the cold wind breezed through them while they looked at each other.
"Okay big brother. Get on out of here before you get yourself sick in this weather." Said Hanna teasingly with a smirk.
"Pah. It's colder in the forest." Retaliated Hans with a smirk.
"Yeah. Whatever. Okay good night." Said Hanna as she pulled in for a hug.
Hans reach his arm out and took his sister in. But the hug was different and he knew it.
Hanna was holding him tightly. Her nails were even holding the back of his warm tunic tightly as if she was savoring the moment. Not wanting to let go. Hans knew his sister so well that he could tell she was emotional without seeing her face.
And she was. Hanna was holding him like this would be the last time she'd get the chance. Her face was buried into his side as she closed her eyes tightly and tears escaped her eyes.
Hans stayed silent with furrowed brows as he continued to let Hanna hold him as long as she needed to. She wasn't going to show him she was crying. But it didn't matter he knew.
Because truth be told she was afraid. Afraid that tomorrow would be the last day of Hans life. That tomorrow he would be executed. Because she too had doubts.
And so she embraced him tightly to remember how it felt hugging her brother. That same brother she shared the womb with. The only true family she had left. The only thing important in her world. The man she loved the most.
She finally slid out of the embrace and was quick to hide her face full of tears as she quickly breathed out a good night to him once more.
Hans breathed in slowly as he sadly watched his sister leave into her quarters before he too started making his way down to the abandoned sailors sleeping quarters.
Hanna quickly shut the doors behind her as she began to wipe her tears away. Her shield maidens were asleep in the other quarters.
She started to undress from everything except her nightgown which she adjusted on before she sat at the edge of her guest bed and undid her long braided ponytail until her auburn long hair fell flawlessly.
The frightening thoughts of her brothers last day tomorrow came back to her mind as she looked to the floor where her naked soft feet were hanging above.
There was a slight movement from a naked leg behind Hanna as she started to tease and run the bed with her feet. Even touching Hanna's back occasionally. But Hanna remained speechless and emotionless at remembering her brother.
The naked figure slowly rose from the bed like a mischievous cat in the night as it started crawling towards Hanna's side of the bed.
"Mm. Now what did I do to get so lucky to have the Princess of Southern Isles in my bed." She said slowly as she placed a kiss on Hanna's back from the open part of nightgown.
"You snuck in? Technically you're in my bed at the moment." Said Hanna as she looked back with raised brows. "Jesus Cass I thought you'd be asleep in bed with the girls already.
"Nope. Not without giving you a proper good night." Said Cassandra as she started to kiss Hanna's shoulders and began towards her neck.
She stopped when she realized Hanna wasn't engaging back at her advances. She still seemed lost in deep thought as she looked out to the darkness.
"What's wrong? Is it something I did?" Asked Cassandra as she noticed a tear still stuck in Hanna's eyelash before she cleaned it away. "You've been crying."
"I just.." sighed Hanna. "I'm worried for him. I'm worried for Hans.."
Cassandra pressed her lips as she leaned her face in Hanna's shoulder lovingly. It was clear Hanna was distraught.
"He'll be okay honey. There's a reason your father called him back and it wouldn't be just to execute him." Said Cassandra.
"Yeah but he's being brought back under arrest now. If anything that'll just motivate him to actually do it." Sighed Hanna.
"You actually think your father would do that?" Asked Cassandra with a brow raised.
Hanna shook her head as if she didn't know the answer to that question herself. "He's capable of so many things, Cass. I don't even know who he is anymore.."
Cassandra breathed in heavily as she started to put her hands around Hanna as she resumed the gentle kissing that led up her neck.
"Don't worry about it. Hans will be all right. Remember? He's hard to kill." She said as she reached Hanna's throat and began to use her tongue.
"Mm." Hanna replied emotionless as she leaned over and allowed Cassandra to continue her advances.
Cassandra began to leave a trail of her sweet kisses and saliva on Hanna's neck and up to her face while proceeding to fondle her delicate breasts with her hands under the nightgown.
Hanna slowly turned to Cassandra as they finally touched lips and began to play with each others mouth first soft and little by little rough as they started to even bite each others lips.
Cassandra continued to fondle her breast while occasionally playing with her soft pink nipples and pinching them, making them harder than the cold made them and peaking Hanna's interest little by little as she began to softly moan.
She slowly slid her hand down through Hannas strong core and through her light pubic auburn hairs before reaching her womanhood.
She was wet. She was ready.
"Now." Said Cassandra as she began to strip off Hanna's nightgown until she was completely naked. "I want you to just sit back and relax."
Hanna did as she was told as Cassandra crawled to the other side where she began to leave trails and kisses down her stomach until she reached the most important part.
"And let me do all the work."
Cassandra ate her in one whole as her mouth collided with the fresh juices of Hanna's womanhood. Cassandra pink lips rubbing against Hanna's pink lips as her tongue also began to dance around.
Hanna rolled her head back and moaned.
At the other side of the ship Anna and Elsa were already in their nightgowns with used chocolate wrappers all over their bed. Elsa was finishing a piece of chocolate in her mouth as she began to pick up the trash around her.
"Mmm." Said Anna popping in a cherry covered chocolate into her mouth. She even had chocolate stains all over them. "That was delicious."
"Yeah well don't get used to it. That favor Gale did for us was a one time thing only." Chuckled Elsa as she started to put the wrappers into the empty box of chocolates.
"Speaking of delicious how have we not talked about Hans brother yet?" Asked Anna as she sat up from bed.
"Anna!" Exclaimed Elsa as she turned to her sister with furrowed brows but a smirk on her lips.
"What!?" Exclaimed Anna.
"I thought you said you were done chasing men for a while." Chuckled Elsa as she began to wipe Anna's mouth with the corner piece of her own gown.
"I am! But that doesn't mean I'm not done observing them." Argued Anna as Elsa laughed at her. "Besides I can't be the only one that thinks the same. Right?"
Elsa finally sighed as she returned to the wrappers she had been picking up. "I must admit. He is handsome."
"Extremely! First Hans, Hanna and now Björn? Is that whole family blessed with good attractive genes or what?" Said Anna as Elsa pressed her lips when she named off Hans. "And to think he still has eleven other brothers to go."
"Which we'll be meeting soon." Sighed Elsa again as she threw the empty box to the side and snuggled herself under the sheets with Anna. "Aren't you nervous?"
"For the Southern Isles? Ehh not really. It's just another Scandinavian kingdom." Said Anna as she started to fluff her pillows.
"It's not just another Scandinavian kingdom, Anna." Chuckled Elsa. "This is Denmark. We've never been to Denmark before. This is the oldest country out of all of them. This is where it all began."
"And where Soren rules as king of kings. I know, I know." Sighed Anna as she began run her fingers through her hair. "But all of that doesn't matter to me when our home is left amiss. We must fight our case. Arendelle cannot be ignored."
Elsa smirked at her sister as she began to undue her braid. "You've become a great leader to our people Anna. I'm proud of you."
Anna's eyes widened like a child's when she heard Elsa say that. She turned to Elsa who was finishing brushing her hair with her fingers as well.
Elsa noticed Anna staring and turned to her with a confused expression.
"What is it?" She asked.
"I.. I just. Never heard you say that.. to me. That you're proud of me." Said Anna innocently as she continued to stare at her sister.
Elsa smiled at her and cuddled closer to her as she wrapped her arm around her and placed a gentle kiss on Anna's freckled cheek.
"I'm always proud of you. Now go to sleep. We've got a long day tomorrow and I don't want the sugar rush from all these chocolates to be an excuse." Said Elsa as she turned around and snuggled herself to sleep.
Anna chuckled and did the same. "Night sis."
But unlike Anna Elsa didn't fall asleep. While Anna had fallen fast asleep she stayed up for the next hour and a half thinking about Hans. She too was starting to get nervous.
Hanna was morning and guiding Cassandra's head as she continued to devour her vagina. She grabbed a chunk of Cassandra's dark hair as she continued to use her fingers and tongue at the same time.
But Hanna wasn't fully aroused. Her mind was not in it and neither was her heart. She tried to push her thoughts away and enjoy the moment and sensation but they only continued to bother her. Finally she gave up and accepted defeat.
"I can't." She sighed suddenly as she stood up from bed.
Cassandra backed away with glossy lips and a confused expression on her face as she watched Hanna walk naked back to the gown that laid on the floor.
"What is it? Did I do something wrong-"
"No you didn't do something wrong Cass it's just-" she adjusted the gown again on herself. "I'm just not feeling it tonight okay? I'm sorry."
Cassandra pressed her lips and crossed her lips together as she looked out to the side as Hanna began to put on a scarf on top of her nightgown to keep warm.
"You're really going out there? Right now in this cold.." questioned Cassandra.
Hanna turned to her with and shrugged. "I just need to clear my head okay? Get some fresh air. I'll be back."
"Okay. Well stay safe out there. I'll just be here then." Said Cassandra as she leaned back in the bed and got herself comfortable.
She immediately spat on the fingertips of her hand and spread her legs before she began to run her fingers through her vaginal lips and masturbate herself.
Hanna sighed as she left. She couldn't blame her. She had practically stood her up and she needed to let go of her desires somehow.
Hanna closed the door behind her as she walked towards the deck as the sound of Cassandra's moans and wet discharge drifted further and further away.
Hanna was barefoot and the ship deck was very cold but Hanna could care less. She was far too worried for the safety of her brother more than anything. Even if it meant her own well being.
She made her way to the ships railings and leaned over as she watched the waves below smash into the ship before they continued to swim in their direction.
The air was heavy and cold as it blew past her long auburn hair. Her eyes closed as she enjoyed the soothing feeling and breathed in to relax her tense shoulders.
When she opened her eyes again she could see the Arendellian ship Par in par to theirs. There was no one on the deck just as the same with the ship she was on. The only one outside was her besides a Southern Isles soldier patrolling on the other side.
But then from the corner of her eyes she noticed a tall and handsome man walking from up the decks bottom quarters. He was dressed in full Arendellian guard uniform and was waking towards a young man guarding the deck.
She watched with curiosity as the handsome guard approached the yawning young man and placed a hand on his shoulder. He spoke a few words to the young guard and he smiled at him as he was quickly dismissed from his post.
Hanna watched as she rested her chin on top of her palm. She could clearly tell that handsome man was Damien and it seemed he dismissed the young guard so he can get sleep while Damien took over.
A small smirk appeared in Hanna's lips as she watched Damien shake his head awake and let out a yawn which only made her yawn too.
Damien was looking out to the grand view in front of him when he something or rather someone watching him. He turned to his left and that's when he saw her.
He could tell immediately it was the Princess. How couldn't he? Her beauty stuck out more than anyone he's ever met and she was watching him. For how long? He thought to himself.
She was smiling at him as she waved at him in a adorable fashion with her fingers wiggling.
Damien couldn't contain his own smirk and he too was waving back at her as Hanna giggled and continued to stare at the lieutenant.
Elsa couldn't sleep. She tried so hard but she kept rolling to one side to the other. And despite having her engagement broken off, Anna was snoring a storm.
Elsa sighed in defeat as she sat on the edge of the bed. She looked out to the window where she could see the moon shining.
She stared out as the anxious thoughts of tomorrow lingered on.
And meanwhile on the other ship in the decks below was Hans as he laid on the hammock with the rocking ship. He had one arm over his head as his thumb traced over the gold pendant the hung around his neck.
His family crest.
He stared at the roaring lion as the North Sea made the barrels move from one side of the ship towards the other.
Tomorrow he would be back at the Southern Isles. A place he once called home.
And tomorrow would be his last day on this earth.
