Chapter 4:

The Lions Den Pt. 2

The Southern Isles Castle

Friday

January 5th, 1844

There were many ships that arrived very early morning at the ports. Many of which were waving other royal crests in the air.

When the news arrived that the rest of the royal monarchs had arrived, Kaleb quickly gave word for his brothers to welcome them in to the castle while he and others prepared to meet them.

But that morning as everyone was getting ready for the day they were interrupted by a small child running down the hall as he began to announce from the top of his lungs "Grandfather has returned!"

All the maids and servants who had been up since early morning made way as he dashed through all of them.

"He's here!" He continued to yell with excitement.

He passed through the guest rooms as Anna and Elsa peeked their heads out to see the running boy pass by.

"Isn't that Kaleb's son?" Asked Elsa remembering the young boy from when he and the rest of Hans nephews, nieces and sister in law introduced themselves.

"I wonder what all the commotion is about." Said Anna as she adjusted the warm and royal coat on her back.

The little prince made his way past the guards that stood in front of the kings quarters. They tried stopping the little prince but he was too fast and barged through the doors.

"Father! Grandfather is here-" The boy stopped dead in his tracks when he saw two naked women quickly hide under the sheets with a yelp coming from their mouths.

"Soren!" Exclaimed Kaleb who was being tailored for a new suit by a few of the maids and servants that surrounded him. "I told you. Never enter my chambers without my invitation!"

His muscular bod was flashing from the unfinished button shirt.

"S-sorry.. father." Muttered the young prince as he looked at the woman under the sheets and then back at his father with widened eyes.

Kaleb sighed heavily as he gave a hand for the maids taking measurement of his suit and pants to move away.

"Get these harlots out of here." He ordered quietly to one of the maids.

The two naked woman peeked their head out and gasped in offense at the crown princes comment as if they were street animals.

"Yes, your highness." Bowed the maid respectfully as she quickly made her way to the bed and began to pull the naked woman off the bed by their hair and push them around the changing sheet to change back into their clothes.

"Now. What is it son." Said Kaleb as he walked up to his son with his hands behind his back.

"It's grandfather!" Exclaimed the young prince with excitement again. "He's returned!"

Kaleb serious eyes looked up as everyone suddenly heard the sounds of horns from the distance. Reaffirming what his son just said.

Elsa and Anna also heard the horns as they turned to the direction it came from. Kristoff who was adjusting his own training clothes on with rest of the Arendellian trainees also heard it.

Honeymaren and Ryder peeked out their guest room too wondering what that was but Kristina was already approaching them to explain what that meant.

"Come on, let's go greet him." Said Kaleb as he put a hand on little Soren's shoulder as they began to walk together down the hall.

"What's going on.." Said Anna as she and her sister saw Kaleb and his son walk past them in a hurry with several servants and castle staff following behind. "And why are there so many horns sounding off?

"I think I remember reading this.. Denmark blows many horns to announce the arrival of their king. The same as our Viking ancestors did before us." Explained Elsa as Anna furrowed her brows.

"She's right." Came the sudden voice from the Princess as they turned to look at her. She was approaching them wearing a fine dress and with Cassandra and the rest of her shield maidens in the back.

"So you mean to tell me your father has arrived?" Said Anna with widened eyes.

"That's exactly what that means. Everyone in the whole kingdom is already gathering to meet him. Come." Said Hanna as she lightly tapped Anna's arm.

Elsa and Anna quickly followed Hanna behind. Soon enough Honeymaren and Ryder were doing the same after Kristina had explained the same thing to them.

And then word immediately received Damien. When he heard of the kings arrival he immediately ordered everyone in his guard to dress into uniform. Even Kristoff had to quickly change to meet up the rest of the group.

A group of people gathered around the large kingdom. Even extending all the way to the castle as they waited anxiously.

When they had heard the horns they immediately ran to the docks. For they knew their king was about to arrive.

Anna and Elsa quickly followed Hanna outside the castle where all her brothers were already lined up by order and waiting with their hands on front of them together. As well as the Westergaard prince and princes. The grandchildren of King Soren.

Kaleb joined the group with his son as the royal monarchs nodded in respect which he nodded back before he lined himself up at the very front of his brothers.

Anna and Elsa made their way to where the other royal monarchs stood, waiting to receive the king in great welcome.

They couldn't explain it but in this moment they felt somewhat nervous. This was the great king Soren. Easily the most powerful and famous man in all of Scandinavia without having any sorts of magic in him.

And they were finally going to meet him.

The horns grew louder and louder as everyone turned back to the large gates. They sounded even closer too. Suddenly the large gates began to open as the horns transitioned into loud and powerful drums that echoed through the whole kingdom.

There was a man on top of a horse with what seemed thousands of men behind him that followed. All of them wearing the colors and crest of the Southern Isles.

Finally the man and his horse made their way through the large gate and there he was.

Immediately all of the people of Denmark dropped to one knee as the guards and a couple of citizens from the crowd began to shout praises to him.

"All hail King Soren!"

"All hail the king of kings!"

Elsa and Anna couldn't believe it. Never have they seen such a people welcome a royalty like the way king Soren was being welcomed.

He went forward with his horse with no hurry as he looked around to his people who continued to shout praises to him and honor him as the horns and drums continued to sound.

The crown on his head was mighty and his whole demeanor and uniform was mighty. He was the one in the front leading the thousand of soldiers behind him.

Anna and Elsa widened their eyes. When Kaleb mentioned that king Soren went to the Northern Isles with a small militia they thought it was just that. Small.

There were thousands of soldiers following behind their king. Some wounded and greatly bruised but they still followed him nonetheless. They couldn't imagine what the whole army and navy would look like altogether.

The flag of Denmark was in the front followed by the the Southern Isles flag crest behind it and they both waved romantically as they escorted the king up through the great market and towards the castle.

Hanna and the rest of her brothers followed the royal protocol as they stood firm and respectfully while they waited for their king to arrive.

They bowed slightly when Soren passed them and when his horse turned him over to the other royals standing in line they bowed respectfully and quickly. Even Elsa and Anna quickly did the same.

Soren didn't say a word as his gaze focused on Anna and Elsa for a brief second. Almost as if he was remembering a past memory.

He finally jumped out of his horse with assistance from Kaleb before it was taken away by a guard nearby to be taken back to the stables. Then he adjusted the large and fur covered cape in his back and headed inside the castle as everyone followed behind.

The large castles doors opened and the whole staff was lined up in praise to the king as they bowed to him while he made his way up to his giant throne that awaited him.

Everyone watched as king Soren finally made it to his throne. The cheers and praises to his name were still heard loud and clear from outside as he took a seat in his giant throne.

Then the large doors closed for the people and for everyone inside the castle as the last thing they saw was the serious king stare at every one of them.

The large doors echoed as they closed behind them before the guards went back to standing firmly in their post.

Kaleb was the first to come up to his father as he crossed his hands in front of him and bowed to him.

"My king." He said as his brothers and other family members followed his example and bowed in perfect union. "Praise be to God for bringing you back to our kingdom, safe and sound."

"Kaleb." Said the king with his deep and authoritative voice as he nodded to his son. "I suspect everything went well during my absence?"

"Indeed, my king." Said Kaleb while nodding. "We've had no outside intrusions come our way. Just allied guests as you see before you."

"Yes." Said Soren as he nodded and looked toward the other royals. "As we expected."

He turned his attention to the rest of his children and grandchildren who stood behind Kaleb as they stood tall, firm and respectfully. His eyes stopped when he saw Björn.

"Björn." Said the king with a gentle yet firm smirk.

"My king." Said Björn as he stepped forward and bowed to him before looking up again and smiling. "It's good to see you again, father."

"I can say the same to you. You look thinner." He said.

"I assure you I am being fed well in the army, father." Smiled Björn. "And constantly busy so with it comes lots of training and exercise."

"Well I'm glad. You know how much your mother worries about you. She always hopes you are being taken care of." Said Soren.

"I saw mother just before I went to Arendelle. I assure you she was fairly satisfied with my condition and well being." Said Björn again as Soren slightly chuckled before turning his attention to Hanna.

"Hanna." He said softly to his daughter.

"Father." She deadpanned without referring to him as king.

"Are you upset with me, daughter?" Said Soren.

"You could say something like that." Sighed Hanna as she crossed her arms.

"I am sorry. Surely you'll understand that in times like today we must be careful with the ongoing threat. Especially with my only daughter. The only Princess the Southern Isles has." He replied.

"Is that your way of saying you were worried about me?" Said Hanna with a brow raised as Soren slightly chuckled. "I can handle things on my own, father. I did not need you to have Björn fetch me."

"Hanna-"

"That is all right, Kaleb." Said Soren cutting off his oldest before he could rebuke her. "She has every right to be upset even if she can not comprehend my decisions. But please do not be angry with your brother. He was only doing as I commanded."

"Of course not. I know Bjorn's good heart." Sighed Hanna.

"As do I. Thank you once again, Björn for bringing back your sister." Said Soren as Björn nodded respectfully. "And to the rest of my sons I am proud to say that we have had success in the Northern Isles."

The staff and the rest of the royals who were patiently waiting quietly whispered with one another at hearing the kings success.

"Does that mean Lars has finally give up on this conflict?" Asked Aksel.

"No I'm afraid not, Aksel." Sighed Soren. "We only managed to draw back his battalion for now. They are planning to bring more reinforcements in the following weeks."

"Great." Sighed Magnus the seventh oldest as the murmurs returned again.

"This is absurd. Let us go and finish this, father. Surely he's only bringing more trouble." Said Ivar with a threatening voice.

"You're always looking for someone with bigger problems than yourself, Ivar." Said Erik shaking his head. "Don't you realize that if father wanted us to finish him that he would have taken us with him?"

"You've always defended, Lars that's why." Argued Ivar.

"Easy now my brothers." Said Kaleb as they all looked to him again. "Our father told us to stay for a reason. He knows better than us. He is our king after all."

"This is true. And I am at peace with how your mothers are being taken care of and in hiding in their home kingdoms. But for now let us feast." Said Soren as he rose to his feet while the kitchen staff and maidens immediately ran to the kitchen to prepare. "For we have honorary guests in our kingdom today."

"Your majesty." Said the king of Tromsø as he and several others bowed as king Soren approached them.

"I am happy to see you have answered my invitation." Said Soren.

"Surely there will be much to discuss, king Soren." Said the queen of Uppsala.

"There shall." Said Soren as he nodded before his gaze stopped at Elsa and Anna who stared at him. "And much to eat as well."

He added as he quickly turned his back to them again and led the way around the castle as Anna and Elsa quickly followed behind.

The Dungeons of the Forgotten

Hans was standing on top of the wooden bed as he looked out the window. He had witnessed the whole scene. The people all bowing in respect and even catching a glimpse of his father from far away.

And now they were returning back to their lives. They had only stopped to welcome the king as soon as they heard the horns sound. Which they usually did always as custom.

He was angry inside. When he saw his father again he remembered just how much he hated him. Especially for forcing him to be brought back to the dreadful kingdom he once knew.

He continued to pace back and forth again and again as he grew angrier. He tried to put it to the side and swallow it but he couldn't.

He shook his head hoping his brain would stop focusing on it until suddenly he turned and began to viscously beat the wooden bed.

Several of the other inmates on the other side tried to look and even hear the frustrated and angry former prince as the loud exclaims and broken wood echoed through the prison.

"AHHH!" He screamed in anger as he stomped on it until it finally broke loose off the wall and landed on the floor as it scattered into a million pieces.

He continued to breathe in and out angrily as he stared at the broken bed with his fists still clenched hard.

The Southern Isles Castle

"Your majesty?" Asked one of the Southern Isles maids as they bowed and poured beverage on Anna's glass.

Anna quickly took the glass and nodded before she took a drink. She and Elsa had found themselves looking over to Soren who sat at the end of the long table next to his sons and their wives and the rest of his grandchildren.

All the visiting royal monarchs sat across with Anna done Elsa within them while they were discussing with Soren and hearing him out as he talked about just anything. But the current conflict was a hot topic of course.

Hanna was among them who was not at all interested at the conversation they were having as she continued to shoot glares at her father and Kaleb. Clearly still upset with the whole situation regarding her twin brother.

Kristoff had sneaked out of his guest room where the rest of the trainee Arendellian soldiers were in and enjoying their meals. There were no lanterns on so nobody could even see he was prying on them.

He had hidden himself in one of the large pillars as he looked down at the great dining table as if he was trying to figure what they were speaking about.

But he suddenly froze up and held his breath in when he saw one of the roaming lions pass through. He glared at Kristoff as he growled inwardly.

"Nice.. kitty.." Said Kristoff as he swallowed nervously.

The lion continued to glare but than scoffed as it returned roaming through the castle. Kristoff let out a sigh of relief.

"You shouldn't be here you know?" Came the sudden voice from Damien as he walked up to Kristoff who was turning around to see him.

"Oh.. hey.. yeah I know." He said.

"Are you and your queen Anna still upset with each other?" Smirked Damien as he crossed his arms.

"Huh? Oh. Uh that doesn't matter.. Look." Relied Kristoff to the lieutenant as he gestured to the grand dinner where all the royals were.

"What are they talking about?" Asked Damien with furrowed brows as he too hid himself behind the pillar.

"Not much so far. He's just giving a run down of what occurred at the Northern Isles. I think. My Danish isn't that great but something doesn't seem right.." He said.

"Why do you say that?" Asked Damien.

"Anna's face." Said Kristoff gesturing to the strawberry blonde queen. "She's concerned and nervous."

Damien looked at Kristoff funny before turning his attention to Anna and focusing on her expression.

"Hmm." He mumbled as he leaned in and played close attention.

"He still hasn't addressed us." Whispered Elsa to her sister as the king continued to speak.

"He hasn't addressed any of us. Technically we're weren't his top choice to be invited remember?" Whispered Anna back.

They turned their attention again to Soren as he sat forward and began to gently move around the poured glass side to side before taking a drink and continuing to speak again.

"The fact is we have a situation where the Northern Isles doesn't have enough aid that'll last them through the remaining winter. So I agreed to take some of them into our kingdom at least until we figure more things out." He explained.

"And what of the rest of the kingdom?" Asked one of the royal monarchs.

"What of it?" Retaliated Soren as several murmurs filled the air at the kings cold answer. "Lars will be back with more men. Right now all they can do is fight and hold their ground."

"They won't survive..." Whispered Elsa to Anna as they're eyes widened.

"Will you need my brothers and I to assist in any way, father?" Asked Kaleb.

"I have other plans for you and your brothers. If we're going to stop Lars then we're going to have to unite more than ever." Said Soren.

"Excuse me, your majesty." Said one of the royal monarchs. "Forgive me for asking but.. is he not your son?"

Anna's eyes widened by how quiet and emotionless the king was as he stared at the nervous monarch as he continued to speak.

"I mean.. surely he will listen to you? You are after all the reason why his marriage to the Princess of Stockholm happened in the first place and to risk all that for politics-"

"This is no longer political, king Andreas." Said Soren boldly as everyone looked at him. "This is war."

Damien and Kristoff looked at each other with concern before looking at the group of royals again.

The silence lingered as everyone continued to stare at the serious king while several maids came out of the kitchen with a large tray full of freshly baked pastries.

"Dessert, your majesty?" Asked the maid respectfully.

Soren sighed and nodded as the maids proceeded to serve each of the royals a plate of freshly baked cake. He sighed again as he placed his elbows on the table before continuing to address them.

"Now is the time to align our kingdoms more than ever." He continued. "If we join forces we can have a better outcome to this war and stop my son from advancing the lines of Denmark."

"Your majesty.." said one of the royals nervously. "But what if we are in alliance with Stockholm too?"

"You mean the fact that you established neutrality since the very beginning of the conflict, king Henrik?" Asked Soren as the royal swallowed nervously. "Than I suggest you return home and pray to God Lars doesn't change his mind."

Everyone eyes widened as Anna and Elsa looked at each other nervously and then back at the king.

"Your majesty. Sorry you mustn't believe-"

"We know our brother, King Andreas." Said Kaleb suddenly as they turned to look at him. "He is a rule keeper. A man of the law and justice. And if someone like our brother has gone this far to declare war then there's nothing that'll stop him. Not even me, his older brother."

The silence lingered again as Kaleb picked up a fork and began to cut pieces of the freshly baked cake before raising it to his mouth.

Anna inhaled nervously.

"So now you understand why we must stand together." Said Soren as he continued. "But now the question remains. Which kingdoms shall join my sons?"

The silence lingered as each royal looked down at their plate of cake in quietness. Each of them afraid of even denying the kings plea.

For there were two things they were afraid of. Breaking their neutrality with Lars but also denying Soren, the great king of kings.

Elsa could see how frightened they all were and she couldn't blame them. A conflict during this time was like offering their kingdom as a sacrifice to the death itself.

But Anna who had been listening this whole time closed her eyes and let out a tired and frustrated sigh. She was done sitting and waiting and she felt deep in her heart this was the right choice.

Kristoff furrowed his brows. He could clearly see Anna wrestling with some sort of inner conflict. And even though she had a knot building in her throat she found the courage to speak.

"My kingdom shall."

Everyone gasped and murmured as they turned to look at the beautiful strawberry blonde Arendellian queen who had spoken in Danish. She was now staring at Soren with a serious and confident stare.

Kristoff rose from the pillars he was leaning on with his eyes widened the same as Damien's.

Hanna was speechless as she leaned forward. Even Elsa couldn't believe what Anna had just agreed to.

"Anna!" Elsa hissed. "What are you-"

"If terms are met of course." Added Anna as she put a firm hand on Elsa's leg to prevent her from hissing anything else to her ear.

Soren breathed in slowly with furrowed brows as he leaned back on his chair. Studying Anna carefully.

"Queen Anna." He addressed her at last with a serious tone.

The hairs on Anna's hair stood up as everyone stared at her and then at Soren with intensity.

"What terms, your majesty." Said Kaleb boldly.

"Well. For starters I feel it is only fair that our treaty is reinstated." She answered as she crossed her hands in front of her and straightened her posture.

"You mean the contract which was done with our sister." Retaliated Kaleb. "The one which she disregarded our younger brothers crime."

"And approved trading without out the kings approval." Said Günter pridefully as a couple of the brothers chuckled.

Björn rolled his eyes.

"Father, if I may?" Said Hanna suddenly as she turned to king Soren who nodded at her. "I was simply acting for the good of our kingdom. I may have went over your head but I established peace and trading with Arendelle and with Queen Anna's help."

She turned to Kaleb and her brothers and gave them a cold stare. "Something my brothers could have never accomplished."

The prideful smirks faded away at her bold statement. Kaleb was the only one who maintained a cold stare back at Hanna.

Björn smirked at his sisters fiery response.

"Queen Anna. Let me ask you something." Said Soren as he sighed and leaned slightly forward. "You have declared neutrality with Stockholm. And as far as I am aware they have no desire for a small kingdom such as yours. So why offer your men?"

"Forgive me my king, but my small kingdom is in need of help." She said rather boldly which caught many by surprise. "This winter has been hard on all of us. But especially for Arendelle."

"That's ironic. Considering Arendelle is famous for its tales of a queen who can control the winter." Said Kaleb.

Elsa was taken back by the testy comment. But she was quick to response.

"I cannot control the winter, prince Kaleb. But I can create it if need be." She replied gracefully and boldly.

Kaleb said nothing.

"Our kingdoms had a good treaty going on before you summoned your son back to the shores of your kingdom, forcing the contract Princess Hanna and I established to be voided. With it the provisions for the following weeks scattered low by fifty-eight percent."

Soren sat quietly back as he listened to her.

"And with todays inflation hitting across Scandinavia it only makes sense now more than ever that we are in alliance. The Southern Isles can only aid so many kingdoms at once." Added Anna.

"But are you not in neutrality with Stockholm." Said Soren challenging Anna. "Why risk the alliance with my son for a war Arendelle is not involved in."

Anna clenched her hidden fist below the dinner table. Kristoff noticed it.

"With all due respect your majesty, my people are in the brink of starvation without those provisions. Our farmers don't have much work, our economy will hit an all time low and there are ten Arendellian families who are asking themselves everyday when they're sons are coming back."

Everyone stayed quiet as the Arendellian Queen spoke with much emotion and pride in her voice.

"So wether I would like it or not, Arendelle is very much involved."

There was silence in the room as Anna and Soren continued to stare at each other. Kristoff and Damien were speechless by Anna's powerful words.

Finally after several seconds of silence, Soren stood up slowly as everyone focused their eyes on him while he crossed his hands behind him. They waited to see if he was going to say something.

"Please do excuse me. I must retire to bed. It was a long journey." Said Soren.

Anna furrowed her brows.

Immediately all the royals stood to their feet. Including Elsa and Anna as they respectfully bowed to the king of the Southern Isles.

"Take them to their rooms." Whispered Soren to Kaleb who nodded.

Anna and Soren met eye contact just briefly one last time before he vanished into to one of the great halls. Leaving Elsa and Anna very confused.

Kristoff shook his head in unbelief. He couldn't believe that Anna had just offered Arendelle to aid the Southern Isles. Was she insane?

"Come. Let's go back to our quarters." Said Damien suddenly. He too still shocked by what they just witnessed. "Speak of this to no one. If anyone asks we were never here. Do you understand?"

Kristoff nodded as he quickly followed Damien back down the hall.

Not much was said after dinner. All the royals left to their respected dorms. Hanna was quick to jump forward and lead Anna and Elsa to their rooms, refusing to let any of her brothers have the previledge of doing so.

They talked about what had happened at dinner. Anna tried to ask Hanna if she's heard anything from the king or why he suddenly ended the conversation but Hanna didn't have slightest clue.

But the only thing she did warn Elsa and Anna about was that her father was unpredictable. He could make a different choice entirely and it could be either with or against their favors.

With that in mind, Anna and Elsa were just about to get ready for bed when they heard a knock on the door.

"Did you send for someone?" Asked Anna who was just about to let her hair down as she turned around to face Elsa with furrowed brows.

"No?" Said Elsa with just as confused expression who was already putting in the nightgown on herself.

Anna quickly headed to the front door and opened it just slightly so now one could see their night gowns and so she can poke her head out to see who was at the door.

Her eyes widened when she saw the stomachs of two large muscular men standing in front of her. Her eyes followed the trail upwards where there in front of her were two of Hans brothers. The giant twins to be more exact.

The same ones who gave a beating to Hans yesterday at the market.

"Our deepest apologies, your majesties. We do not mean to bother you." Said one of the twins in his deep voice as he and his other twin with one eye patch bowed respectfully.

"Oh.. uhh. It's-it's okay." Said Anna nervously as she continued to look up at the giant brothers before she swallowed nervously.

"King Soren wishes to speak with you privately in his office." He added.

Annas eyes slightly widened at hearing the statement as she pointed to herself. "Me?"

Rudi nodded with regalness. "If her majesty would be willing of course."

Anna looked back towards Elsa who was sharing the same confused expression as her sister. Finally Anna looked back at the twins and cleared her throat.

"Ahem, I suppose that is fine. I'll be out in just a moment." Said Anna.

"Take your time, your majesty." Said Rudi respectfully as he and his brother nodded together.

Anna closed the door and quickly turned to Elsa with a shocked expression.

"The king wants to meet with you?" Said Elsa with widened eyes.

"Okay good so you heard that too. I wasn't making that up in my head then." Sighed Anna as she rubbed her forehead.

"Anna.. what do you think he wants?" Asked Elsa.

"I-I don't know.. but it sounds important. Doesn't it?" Said Anna.

"Yes! When's the last time you heard of the great king Soren requesting the presence of someone. And in his personal office. You must go, Anna!"

"Oh god.. I'm nervous now." Sighed Anna as she started to massage her hands. "Will you come with me?"

"Anna. He requested you. Not me." Said Elsa.

"Ughhh I know I know." Anna took in a deep breath before composing herself again. "Okay. Help me pin my hair back up. I'll take Damien with me."

"Yes your majesty." Said Elsa sarcastically with a smirk as Anna rolled her eyes.

"Shut up." Said Anna to Elsa who chuckled and began to pin Anna's hair.

The twin brothers didn't wait long because before they knew it Anna had stepped out the door as she fixed the corners of her royal dress before looking up at them with her hands crossed.

"This way please, your majesty." Said Rudi and him and his brother Runo bowed and extended their hands out for Anna to follow.

Word had reached Damien quickly and he was already approaching the twins and Anna from behind as he nodded respectfully at Anna as a way to show her he was ready whenever she was.

Anna took the signal and nodded to the twins before she started to follow them down the long and enormous hall.

The walk seemed forever as Rudi would lead the way with the lantern in his hand. Every now and then it seemed like every side of the wall had an ancient and historical artifact from hundreds of years ago.

Thousands of paintings from faces she even recognized. Great Viking shields and swords on display. It was like the whole castle was a museum full of the great kings and heroes of the past.

"Is everything okay, your majesty?" Whispered Damien to Anna. Knowing very well what he and Kristoff had seen occur at the dinner table just a few hours ago.

"Let's hope so." She whispered back trying to calm her nerves as they turned the corner to a single hall. The main hall that had only two grand doors. One near the wall and one in the middle.

Rudi and Runo stepped into the middle door and gave a command which the guards guarding immediately stepped aside and opened.

Rudi turned to Anna and extended his arm out. "Please enter, your majesty."

Anna quickly nodded as she entered inside the large quarters. It was nothing compared to the one she had back home. Everything was bigger and new. The desk, the chairs and even the endless piles of paperwork.

Soren had been standing in front of the fire and near the large window with his hands behind him. Calm and collective while the viscous winter storm continued to rage on.

"Father. Queen Anna as you requested." Said Rudi as he bowed with his brother.

"Thank you. You may now leave us." Said Soren not turning around to face them.

"Yes father." Said Rudi as he gave a pat to his twin brother to follow him out the door leaving Anna alone with the king as the doors closed behind them.

Silent moments passed by with only the sound of the wood burning from the fire. She wondered in that moment if she was just called to stand there but suddenly he turned around slowly to Anna who was standing tall and regal like she was taught.

"My apologies for requesting your presence so late in the night." He began.

"It's no trouble at all, your majesty. I am honored to have been invited." Said Anna as she continued to speak Danish to him.

"I suppose now is a more appropriate time to congratulate you for your coronation and transition to Queen of Arendelle. You understand that we were not allies then so clearly I was not there." He said with his hands still in front of him.

"I completely understand, your majesty and thank you for your congratulations." Said Anna as Soren nodded her head.

"How has your stay in Denmark been so far." He asked after a brief moment.

"It's been great so far, your majesty. I've never been to Denmark and your kingdom is very beautiful." She replied.

"Is It everything you thought it might be?"

"And more, your majesty." Said Anna with a small smirk. "I've never seen such a large kingdom as this."

He smiled slightly before he turned again and walked towards the corner of the wall.

"Your father was a great friend of mine." He said as Anna followed her gaze to him.

"Really? Said Anna with furrowed and surprised brows as Soren nodded.

He made his way to a giant glass case where there seemed to be hundreds of bottles of rum, wine and just about anything you can think of.

"And a great king."

Anna pressed her lips and nodded as she looked to the floor somberly. "Indeed he was."

"Agnarr and I became very close. We both became kings at a very young age so we would engage often about the struggles of being king and royalty life." He said as he opened the glass vault and reached for a fancy green bottle with two glass cups.

"I never recall him mentioning that." Said Anna a little surprised.

"At times we don't recall things when were children. But I can assure you he was. He even gave this to me as a gift." He said as he held up the green glass bottle. "It was his favorite drink.

Anna gently walked forward to take the glass bottle Soren had offered to Anna to see. She turned the bottle around to where she could see the date.

Arendelle 1841

"That's the same year they were lost at sea." She muttered as she looked up to the king.

"And the last time I saw him." He said as he took the bottle again and opened it up. It made a sizzling noise before he began to pour it in one of the glasses.

Anna watched with widened and curious eyes.

"I never opened it. I couldn't bring myself to do it. It felt as if it was the only thing left I had that made me remember him." He said as he finished pouring. "Until now. Having you, his daughter here. Well it felt right now."

He turned to the other empty glass before looking up at Anna.

"Do you care to share a drink?" He asked.

Anna wanted to die. No she didn't want to share a drink after her horrendous experience back in Arendelle after the first time she tried it.

She could still taste the bitter alcohol burning her throat. But how could she say no to a invitation from a king? Especially in these dier circumstances.

"Apologies." He said retrieving the glass back. "Of course drinking this isn't very ladylike. Much less with a queen such as yourself-"

"Yes." She said suddenly and regretfully. "I'd be honored..."

"Very well." He nodded as Anna watched him pour the glass.

I swear dad. First thing I'm doing when I die and get to heaven is asking you why you like to drink this shit. She thought to herself.

He extended the glass to Anna which she took gracefully and gave a slight curtesy. Then he extended his own glass out as if he was giving a toast.

"To your father. Long live King Agnarr."

"Long live." Nodded Anna as they touched glass and then both of them drank the alcoholic drink in one whole.

Anna was immediately forcing a horrible face gesture back as the burning drink went through her throat. This one seemed worse than the one she drank back in Arendelle.

"You can hold your drink down. I'm impressed." Said Soren with a smirk as he set the glass down and began to pour himself more. "Like daughter, like father I suppose."

Anna immediately took advantage to stick out her tongue in disgust when his back was faced to her. She had to hold her breath in because she thought she could vomit in that second.

Instead she began to cough and try her best to to not let her guard down.

"You mentioned my father gave you this drink as a gift." She said clearing her throat.

"Indeed he did." Said the king as he began to refill Anna's glass now. "We were avid drinkers your father and I. We always enjoyed catching up with a good drink."

"The date on that bottle.. was he here?" She asked as she took the drink in her hand again.

"He was." He said as he put the bottle down and turned to her. "Him and your mother came to visit me just before they departed on their journey."

"I... never knew that." Said Anna as she tapped the glass with her nails. "Why did they come?"

Anna noticed how quiet Soren got as his eyes drifted into emptiness as if he was remembering a painful memory.

"You're mother wanted to make her peace. She came to finally visit Nora's grave." He said softly. "My wife's grave."

"Hans and Hanna's mother.." muttered Anna as she realized how emotional the subject had gotten. " I am sorry. I did not mean to-"

"Nothing to be sorry about. You willingly asked and so I answered." He replied quickly as he drank another glass to hide his feelings and turned around to refill more.

Anna pressed her lips at his intense response as she mistakenly took another drink of her alcoholic glass. Forgetting it was full of rum. She covered her mouth again as the horrible taste ran down her tongue.

"I know how hard it must be to learn things you never knew about. Especially when it regards your parents." Said Soren as he turned around to Anna again who was quick to hide her disgusted face expression.

"It feels like I never really knew who they were." Said Anna clearing her throat so the nasty taste can disappear again.

"I don't blame you for feeling that way, Queen Anna. But the most important thing you must know is that you're parents were good people. And your father was a good king." He said as Anna listened to him. "A great king."

Anna pressed her lips as she looked down the glass and the back up at the king who was already finishing the drink.

"You remind me a lot of him." Said the king as he filled another glass.

"A lot of people say that." Smirked Anna as she once again took another sip and immediately regretted it.

"Well they are right. You share his eyes." Chuckled Soren as he took another sip. "And his spirit."

"His spirit?" Asked Anna with furrowed brows.

"Oh yes. His fighting spirit." Said the king as he walked past her and towards the front of the fire place as Anna turned around with furrowed brows still. "He was proud to be Arendellian."

Anna watched as he took a sip again as he stared into the fire.

"Be prepared." He would say. "Just when you think you found your way, life will-"

"Throw you onto a new path." Said Anna finishing her late fathers words.

Soren nodded as he looked Anna before he continued to look to the fire.

"Never have a I met a man who loved his kingdom so much like the way your father did. He would fight to the very end and lay down his life if need be."

Anna looked towards the fire this time as she began to remember him.

"You share those same attributes." He said suddenly as he slowly turned to look at Anna again. "I saw it back there during dinner. It's as if his spirit lives in you."

Anna breathed in slowly. Suddenly she felt like a little girl who wanted to hold her father again.

"So which is why I must ask you firmly now, Queen Anna." Said Soren as Anna looked up at the king once again. "You're willing to risk the neutrality with Lars for ten of your soldiers who are imprisoned?"

Anna was taken back by the question as she furrowed her brows. "Of course." She replied boldly.

"I don't think you understand what I am saying." He said more firmly as he stood with seriousness and looked at Anna. "Neutrality with Stockholm means that they have interest in Arendelle. It also means they know you aren't declaring war with them."

"I know what neutrality means, King Soren." Said Anna with furrowed brows.

"Than you'll know that if you agree to join us, the Southern Isles, you are also agreeing to be a enemy of Lars." Said Soren as Anna's brows furrowed with frustration. "And for ten men?"

"For the future of Arendelle? Yes." Said Anna boldly. "I will not allow any kingdom trail over Arendelle, king Soren."

"And how can we trust you? After the illegal transfer unit that took place from Arendelle to Oslo?" He pin pointed.

Anna furrowed her brows in confusion. "I-I don't know anything about that-"

Worst case scenario your kingdom can prosper until at least a few weeks while we settle with Lars-"

"I will not wait." She said boldly at last as Soren stared coldly into Anna's fiery turquoise eyes with the same stare Agnarr would do. "Arendelle has been nothing but peaceful this whole time. We had a great thing going with our contract with Princess Hanna. Trading was going well and in return I kept my word."

Soren stayed silent as he continued to stare coldly at her.

"I may not have all of my kingdoms support in this. And many of my people will probably hate me for doing such a thing but I know this is what needs to be done. No questions asked." She added boldly.

Soren watched as Anna never once let go of her intense stare.

"Do you know what war is like, Queen Anna?" He said suddenly as Anna stayed quiet and said nothing. "I thought so.. well let me share with you my experience."

Anna watched as he began to walk towards the window slowly as the viscous winter storm continued.

"Many think war as catastrophe but that's not what it is at all. War is about survival. When you're in the dunes and there is madness going around you, all you can think about is one single thing. Survival. You witness men become fearful infants who wish they can cling unto their mothers teat one last time. They go into a state of shell shock as countless bodies fall to the blood covered ground.

And in you're mind that very moment you question whether you are human or not. You become blood thirsty and your go into a state of hallucination. And the you began to question your loyalty to your kingdom and its king or queen. You began to question if God truly exists."

Anna felt the thin hair on her arms and neck stand up at hearing the kings cold and menacing words as he continued to stare at her coldly.

"So. That being said. How do you describe war? Only in one way. War is hell on earth."

Anna breathed a sharp nervous breath at hearing the terrifying description as Soren began to slowly walk up to her again and stop at a respectable distance.

"That is why I ask you firmly. That if you truly are going to be joining our coalition that I need you to affirm your alliance. I will not take cowards and traitors with my sons to Sweden.

I have trained each of my sons and my men to be prepared for war. And they've been trained to be so since birth. That they are to die honorably for our kingdom with pride. Will your men be able to keep up?"

Anna said nothing as she looked down to the floor and pressed her lips.

"Are you prepared to have blood in your hands?" He said boldly. "To be responsible for any outcome-"

"I am prepared." She said suddenly looking up at him again this time with furrowed and a intense stare.

"Good." Said Soren nodding slowly. "Because if you fail and do not come through. I assure you that your small kingdom shall be extinct."

Anna stayed silent as she watched Soren walk back towards his large desk as anxiety and anger began to boil up inside her.

He pulled out a scrolled up royal decree from his desk and walked back to Anna before handing it to her.

"Here." He said as she grabbed it with her furrowed brows. "Here is the new contract treaty with our two kingdoms which will only temporarily apply for the next three months. At least until the winter is over."

"And then we will discuss a more permanent alliance?" Asked Anna as she looked up at him?"

"That will all depend on how Arendelle aids us during this war." He said coldly as he turned around to walk back to the fireplace.

"And what of Hans." She said suddenly as Soren stopped dead in his tracks. "Why did you ask me to bring him here. I did what you asked. What do you want from him."

He turned around slowly to face Anna with a a serious stare.

"Like I said before. I prepared all my sons to fight and die honorably for their kingdom."

Anna's eyes widened as the large doors opened again where the two southern isles guards made way for Anna to pass through. There in the front door was Damien still waiting with his hands behind his back.

"Read the new contract. It will explain everything. And sleep well, your majesty." Said Soren to Anna as she continued to stare at him with widened eyes. "Because you won't be getting much of it from now on."

Anna breathed out a frustrated and tense sigh as she quickly gulped down the rest of the alcoholic drink in her hand. This time not all wincing at all or making a face as she set it back down at the table.

She then turned around and marched through the doors as they closed behind her. The twins bowed at her presence and left.

"Your majesty." Said Damien as he nodded and began to walk her back to her guest quarters. "Did everything go all right?"

She stopped walking and scrolled open the contract as she skimmed over it with her own eyes. Damien watched as Anna's eyes would widen and furrow with each line she read as well as worrisome expressions.

"Is everything all right, your majesty?" Asked Damien as Anna stared at the contract with a emotionless face. Although he had an idea what it could mean.

"No..." She muttered finally as she shook her head and rolled up the letter again. "No. And I'm afraid Lieutenant I'm going to give you a bigger responsibility now."

"Anything, your majesty." He replied.

"Prepare for war."

The Dungeons

Björn walked down the stone steps leading down into the dungeon. He walked until he reached Hans' cell and was surprised to find him sleeping on the floor.

"Hans?"

Hans stirred and awoke. "What?"

"Why are you sleeping on the floor?" He asked.

Bjorn's eyes found the broken pieces next to Hans feet and and then found the wooden bed completely destroyed like someone had smashed it with a sledge hammer.

"Oh." Said Björn.

"Yeah." Replied Hans as he stood up to his feet as Björn unlocked the cell and entered inside. "I got tired of waiting for someone to fetch me or bring me news so I thought I would get sleep."

"Any luck?" Asked Björn.

"None." Said Hans as he leaned his back on the wall and crossed his arms. "So what's the news."

Björn sighed. "So far Father hasn't asked anyone to come get you. In fact he hasn't even mentioned your name."

"Not surprised." Deadpanned Hans. "And what of Lars?"

"The conflict with Lars is much worse than we anticipated. Father was able to run off some of Lars men from the Northern Isles. Many of them retreated but Lars is expected to make a bigger move within the next following days."

"Damn it, Björn!" Growled Hans as he stood straight from the wall. "Just go with the rest of our brothers and kill that bastard already!"

"We've tried, brother!" Exclaimed Björn. "Believe me we've tried. I've tried! But father won't allow any of us to go yet."

"Why!?" Exclaimed Hans.

"I don't know, okay. I don't know.." Sighed Björn as he rubbed his forehead while Hans turned around in anger and shook his head in frustration.

"Father is wasting time." Said Hans turning around. "The more days that pass that Lars is still breathing than more bloodshed and allies he will establish. Before you know it father is going to be begging ever kingdom to join him and not Lars coalition."

"He already has." Said Björn.

"What?" Said Hans with furrowed brows.

"Father has asked that they prepare their best men and to unite with ours to stop Lars from advancing Denmark." Said Björn.

"Oh Jesus Christ.." said Hans rolling his eyes. "Does he know all those kingdoms are in alliance with Stockholm? Is he that desperate?"

Björn pressed his lips as Hans shook his head in disappointment while his hands rested on his hips.

"How many agreed?" Sighed Hans. Björn was silent for a moment. Not saying a word.

"Björn?"

The blonde haired prince looked up at Hans again with a serious stare and finally spoke.

"Arendelle."

Hans eyes widened. His whole body froze for a brief second and it wasn't just because it was so cold in the cell.

"Bullshit-"

"Hans. I'm being serious." Said Björn.

"Are you shitting me. Arendelle? What the bloody hell is Anna thinking!?"

"She offered to aid father if her terms are met. If Arendelle is guaranteed provisions for the rest of the winter." Said Björn.

"That was her first mistake. Trusting father." Said Hans shaking his head.

"Can you blame her, brother? I mean Jesus Christ, Hans look the world right now! Scandinavia is at war and at tribulation with the economy. Arendelle's economy was already bad before they found you at the forest. Then it was slowly healing and now is worse than before." Said Björn.

Hans had his arms crossed as he continued to listen to Björn while he looked towards the darkness.

"Everyone is scared right now, Hans. The world is changing. Soon there will only be the conquered and the conquerors." Said Björn.

Hans sighed heavily as he let Bjorn's words sink in.

He said nothing as he continued to pace around trying to think of a solution but every thought he had met a dead end. There was no solution. No plan.

"I can't think of anything.." he finally muttered in surrender.

"Neither can I. Or Hanna or any one of us. So all we do now is wait to see what father says tomorrow." He said.

Hans sighed again heavily as he turned to Björn.

"Try to convince father to allow you and our brothers to go after Lars. He'll listen to you. He's always respected you." Said Hans.

"Hans-"

"Just try, Björn." Said Hans firmly as he put his cold hands on Bjorn's shoulders.

Björn stared at his brother and nodded finally.

"I'll try."

"Good." Said Hans nodding as he shook Bjorn's shoulders one last time before letting go.

Björn sighed heavily as he turned to back to the cell door and went through before locking it behind him.

"I'll be back tomorrow and tell you what he says."

"I'll be here." Sighed Hans as Björn smirked and left leaving him alone as he leaned his head on the prison wall and sighed heavily again as he defected on the news.

The Southern Isles Castle

When Damien had returned to her back to her guest room she found Elsa fast asleep in the bed. She didn't know she had been gone for so long.

She quickly stripped herself from her royal dress and changed into her nightgown before she joined Elsa in bed who was already starting to drool.

She sighed heavily and tried her best to get herself comfortable but failed. She turned and turned the whole night trying to force shut her eyes.

Get some sleep because you won't be getting much of it from now on.

She scoffed at the ridiculous comment he made. Her thoughts lingered on the contract and than she became doubtful. How could she really trust him? What if it was all part of a ultimate betrayal?

She stood up and moved her feet to the side as they hung of the bed while her brain wondered worriedly. She didn't know what to do now.

Her soft feet touched the cold surface as she stood up. The moon was out and it reflected her cream nightgown as she walked to the window.

Her young, delicate and beautiful body could be seen through the nightgown thanks to the moon light. Her pale freckles skin as well as her strawberry blonde pubic hairs that curled like the shape of a fire.

Her pink nipples were hard from the cold despite there being a fire to keep warm as she rubbed her arms to keep warm.

She reached for her mothers Northuldran scarf and wrapped it around her to keep warm and also for comfort as she looked out the window.

This winter was endless. She couldn't even see the sea any longer due to the amount of snow piling on.

She sighed heavily and rubbed her heavy eyes.

Arendelle at war. Engagement broken. Inflation rising. Breaking promises and contributing to a man to be a prisoner of war.

Anna felt like the whole world was hanging on her shoulders. She knew being queen would bring stress but she never imagined at a level like this.

She closed her eyes again and inhaled slowly and deeply before letting the air out from her mouth. She did this repeatedly to try to settle her emotions.

Than finally her eyes opened.

"For Arendelle." She whispered to herself.

The Southern Isles Castle

Saturday

January 6th, 1844

Soren sat on his great throne as he tapped the gold arm rest with one hand repeatedly while his other hand held his chin. He was staring at the ground as if he was remembering someone.

He slowly closed his eyes as he began to imagine the bitter sweet memories of the past.

"Soren..."

His eyes closed a little tighter as he heard the familiar beautiful voice he loved.

"Sweetheart..."

His mouth slightly opened as if he wanted to speak back to her. Wanting to hold her one last time and whisper beautiful words to her.

"Father?"

His eyes opened quickly as if he has woken up from a dream except he wasn't asleep. He looked in front of him where Hanna was approaching his great throne.

"You called for me?" She asked.

"H-Hanna." He said as he looked around and then back at her as if he was trying to register where he was. His heart was even beating fast. He thought for a moment he was dead.

"Is everything all right, father?" Asked Hanna with a brow raised.

Soren was silent for a moment as he stared at Hanna and her concerned emerald eyes. He pressed his lips at seeing his beautiful daughter and how much she's grown.

"You look so much like your mother, Hanna." He said suddenly as he continued to admire her. His thoughts turning to Nora again.

She would have loved to see how Hanna turned out to be. He knew deep down in his heart she would be very proud. Because he was too.

Hanna sighed at hearing his declaration as she looked at the floor and then away with annoyance.

"I know father. You've told me that before. My whole life actually.."

Soren sighed heavily before he sat straight in the throne, trying to turn his thoughts back to important matters as he looked at Hanna again with his serious gaze

"I called you because I wanted you to inform the guards to go fetch your brother." He said.

Hanna eyes widened. Her heart dropped as she took one step forward to confirm she had hear right.

"Hans?"

The king nodded.

"Yes. Hans."

The Dungeons of the Forgotten

He had gotten tired of waiting. He was sitting at the corner of the cell his head resting on the brick wall. All night he had tried to stay up in case his brother would return.

He paced around the cells back and forth endlessly and would occasionally stretch his muscles so he could stay awake but that wasn't that case after all.

It almost felt like a cruel joke. Almost like some sort of punishment from Kaleb that his family would come down and promise to bring him word or that he'd be summoned soon but it would never happen.

And why should it? He was ignored back then and is being ignored now. He should have known better.

He was tired. Tired of waiting. Tired of sitting. Tired of looking at nothing but outer darkness around him.

His eyes drifted into sleep and soon he found himself breathing heavily while he rested. And in that moment he wished he could just die.

There was nothing left for him. At the end they got what they wanted and he was back in shackles imprisoned for the rest of his entire life.

His thoughts turned to the increíble view from the four peaks. He remembered how every morning he would awake with the sun rising in the morning, unveiling the large and beautiful landscape.

How he wished he could just see it one last time.

Hans was deep into sleep when the large dungeon doors unlocked. Several guards stepped inside following the one of them who held a lantern in his hand as he led the way down the dark dungeon.

They headed toward the private cell which held the excommunicated prince. Hans brows furrowed slightly at hearing the echoing footsteps.

His eyes struggled to open his eyes but each time they did he could see just slight shadowy figures who were approaching his cell.

He thought he heard them began to unlock the locked cell and which were then followed by several boots entering inside as they approached him.

"Hans Christian Westergaard. You are hereby summoned by King Soren for the judgment of your crimes. By Danish law you have the right to remain silent and are to follow every procedure we-"

Hans brows furrowed again as his eyes blinked several times. Finally able to see them more clearly. He knew the guard with the lantern was speaking to him but he could barely register any of his words or what he was trying to say.

It was like he could only hear muffling noises as the guards each grabbed Hans by the arm and raised him up to his feet.

"Hm?" He mumbled as they began to shackle him in his wrists, next and even in his ankles.

His brows furrowed as they continued to go over his rights before they started leading him out of the cell and through the dungeons as he looked around with a confused expression.

He still had no idea if he was dreaming or not. One thing was certain however. Everything was still dark.

The other locked up prisoners stood on their feet as they watched the excommunicated prince be lead down the hall.

They reached the doors of the dungeons as the two prison guards standing opened it for them. Hans eyes immediately shut as he was met with the white snow storm.

It was too bright. His eyes had gotten so used to seeing nothing but darkness. He blinked several times as his eyes struggled to get used to bright colors again.

He still couldn't register what was going on as the slightly pushed him out the door and to the outside world.

Everywhere around him was white and it had suddenly gotten colder. There was even a slight snowstorm happening at that very moment.

He continued to squint and try to blink, hoping he could awake from this strange dream. But as he approached the familiar steps that lead to castle his mind was finally able to focus again.

That's when he realized where he was being taken to. He realized he was finally being summoned to face punishment for all his crimes.

It felt so unreal. It felt like a dream but it wasn't.

Even seeing the approaching castle still didn't feel real. It looked exactly the same as it was when he had left.

They reached the grand doors of the castle as two other guards who were guarding nodded at their fellow guards and opened the giant doors slowly.

He didn't know how to feel. He didn't know whether he was nervous or not. But he watched as the familiar giant doors opened until it slowly revealed the sight before him.

There was his father sitting on the throne. Leaned back and with his cold stare as usual. Hans couldn't believe it was him. He looked just a tad older and had developed more grey hairs in his beard.

All of his brothers stood next to their father in exact order from oldest to youngest. Even Björn was among them with a concerned expression. Kaleb as always stood next to their father, sharing the same cold stare but in a more threatening way.

On the other side there were several royals from the other kingdoms lined up with Elsa and Anna being among them.

Hans eyes stopped when he saw the snow queen again. Elsa let a nervous breath out as she saw Hans once again.

Anna on the other hand seemed to be wanting to avoid meeting eyes with him. But not out of grudge. Almost out of pity. Even he could notice how strange Anna's body language was.

He observed everyone in the court, studying each of their body expressions until the guards slightly pushed him again ordered Hans to walk down towards the kings throne.

He let out a annoyed exhale and walked forward grudgingly and without care as the shackles made noise with each step he took. And this time his stage was locked with his fathers.

When he reached a little hallways, Hanna quickly walked forward to her brother and threw her arms around him giving him a big embrace.

"Oh thank goodness you're finally out." Said Hanna as she continued to squeeze her brother tightly.

Hans didn't hug back. His gaze was still locked in with his fathers and his eyes were beginning to glow.

Hanna pulled out from the hug as she looked at her bother and could clearly see his eyes glowing.

"Hans.. your eyes." She whispered to him as if she was warning him.

"Let's get this over with." Whispered Hans back with grudge as he returned to walking towards his father, this time without any of the guards help or hands on him.

The atmosphere inside the whole castle was quiet, dull and nerve wracking. Everyone could feel the energy of hatred bouncing off the walls.

Elsa could see how all of Hans brothers looked at him as if he was some defiant creature from the woods. They stared at him like they never knew him their whole lives.

Björn was the only one who seemed concerned and curious as to what was going to go down. And Kaleb as always shared a stare of hatred and resentment towards him.

He walked until he reached the steps that led to the throne. His gaze still focused on his father. His heart full of bitterness and his stare intense.

Elsa played with her fingernails nervously. She's seen that look on his face before many times. His eyes glowing and his stare focused like a Lion about to kill its prey.

Hans noticed her staring and quickly made eye contact with her as they shared a glance before he blinked and turned back to his father.

Finally after a long moment of silence Soren sat up straight and took in a deep breath before he began to speak.

"Hans Christian Westergaard. You have been summoned here today for the crimes you committed against Arendelle and the Southern Isles."

Hans let out a threatening breath as he continued to stare at the king.

"You are a citizen of Denmark, and by her Danish law you are to be held accountable for each count pertaining from the years 1841-"

"Oh for Christ's sake!" Bit out Hans as several royals gasped. Elsas eyes widened. "Would you get on with it already and execute me? You're boring me with your politics."

"Enough!" Exclaimed Kaleb angrily as he stepped forward. "Never speak your king in that way-"

"Kaleb, stand down." Said Soren quickly as he gave a gesture with his hand.

Kaleb continued to stare at Hans angrily and this time Hans didn't hold back.

"Do what your told." He taunted his older brother with a sadistic stare.

Björn covered his mouth to hold back his laugh. Even some of the rest of the brothers had to admit the comeback was rather intelligent. Kaleb continued to stare at Hans with rage before he finally obeyed his father and stepped back to line himself up with the rest of his brothers.

Soren sighed as he rubbed his beard before addressing Hans again.

"How do you plea, Hans?" He said.

"Guilty. Now will you hang me by the neck already or should I do it myself?"

Elsa shook her head and was about to yell at Hans to stop talking but Hanna instead stepped forward while the rest of the Westergaard brothers argued with one another at hearing Hans bold words.

"Oh for Gods sake will you shut up!" Exclaimed Hanna to her twin brother as she stepped forward and turned to face their father. "Father this is getting us no where. It's clear that there is too much contention and Hans is only going to continue to blurt out ridiculous claims."

"Ridiculous? Why should we consider them ridiculous? Perhaps Hans is simply telling the truth." Retaliated Kaleb.

"For once." Added Ivar as the rest of their brothers laughed. Except Björn who rolled his eyes.

"Why don't you come down here and I can show you how honest I can be." Retaliated Hans with a threatening tone as he smirked at all of them.

Ivar who was always hot tempered was ready to jump in and go for the kill had Björn not held him back.

"ENOUGH!" Blurted King Soren as he finally stood to his feet.

Immediately everyone who had been laughing and making loud noises seized as they turned to look at the serious king. Even Elsa had to admit that the loud exclaim was terrifying as she and Anna stood up straight as if they were the ones being addressed.

"Since when did I ask for anyone to voice their opinion? When!?" Exclaimed the king with frustration. His loud and authoritative voice echoed through the whole castle. "Whatever decision I make will be mine own mouth. Not anyone else's!"

Even Hanna was taken back as she stood tall and firm with her hands folded in front of her. It felt like the olden days when their father would rebuke them for disobeying.

"And you." He said to Hans as he slowly made his way down the steps until he finally met face to face with Hans. "You are to cooperate with every request, question or instruction I am to give you. Do you understand?"

"I am not your prince. I don't take orders from you anymore, father.-"

SLAP!

Elsa and Anna had flinched at the sudden hard struck Soren gave to Hans cheek. It sounded like it hurt and stung. It even caused Hanna to hiss as she looked away.

But Hans didn't react. He didn't even flinch. It looked as if the slap didn't even hurt him. Simply annoyed him as he continued to stare at his father grudgingly with his glowing emerald eyes.

"I am your king. And as your king you will listen to me." He threatened back as Hans smirked devilishly.

Björn sighed heavily as he shook his head.

"Guards." Said Soren as the nearby guards quickly stepped forward. "Take my son to the council room. The rest of my sons and I will meet him there. And if he tries to escape or anything for that matter you are to kill him in the spot."

"Ooohh. Now you're tempting me." Said Hans with a brow raised as the guards obeyed and stepped forward as they each grabbed Hans by each arm.

Elsa and Anna watched as Hans was guided towards the hall and through the doors with the sounds of his shackles.

"I'm coming too-"

"No you're not." Said Soren turning to Hanna who was about to run off to her brother.

"But father-"

"Hanna. That is an order."

"But I can-"

You will stay with Queen Elsa and Queen Anna. Do not argue with me anymore!" He said firmly.

Elsa and Anna swallowed nervously at how loudly the king had rebuked her.

Hanna stared at her father with a very disappointed stare before she shook her head in disappointment and stormed off angrily as Soren sighed heavily.

"Please excuse us, your majesties." He said with a quick nod to the rest of the visiting royal before he too followed all of his sons down the hall leaving a curious and worried Elsa.

Elsa turned to Anna but was surprised by her emotionless expression. She didn't seem caught off guard at all. Almost as if she knew something was going on..

The great council doors opened and in stepped Hans with the guards as he looked around at the empty thirteen chairs surrounding the long and fancy table.

Suddenly all those meetings and interventions he would have with his brothers growing up came to his mind as he looked around while the guards began to unshackle him.

"All right, that's enough." Said Björn as he walked up behind Hans and pushed the guards away from his brother. "You all right?

"Never better." Replied Hans sarcastically. "Where's Hanna?"

"Father banned her from entering." Replied Björn.

"As always." Sighed Hans as he walked around the table and studied the whole room, soaking up all the miserable memories.

"It's crazy right? So many memories in this room." Said Björn as he followed Hans around.

"So many fights. So many arguments." Said Hans as he continued to look around the room.

"Let's hope that's not the case this time." Sighed Björn.

Several other footsteps entered the room and it was Kaleb walking inside with the rest of their brothers following behind. His gaze was still focused on Hans as he made his way to the front row next to where their father usually sat.

"Who would have ever thought our youngest brother would be back in this very room." Said Kaleb sarcastically as he pulled out the chair and sat down while their other brothers found their respective own spot.

"And alive too. Must feel like you're seeing a ghost huh?" Retaliated Hans with a smirk while Björn shook his head and chuckled.

"You've always been a ghost, Hans." Fired back Magnus the seventh oldest while Günter erupted into howling laughter.

"Well considering the fact you, Günter and Aksel pretended I was invisible for two years I would say you are right, brother." Said Hans with his usual sadistic smirk as he took his seat at the every end of the table, opposite of Kaleb.

The exact same seat he sat in growing up. Always next to Björn and across his father and Kaleb.

A couple of maids and servants came in and quickly places three trays across the tables, each of the tray containing fresh fruits to snack on.

"Let's face it Hans can you blame us? You've always been annoying as hell." Said Aksel the sixth oldest.

"Annoying? Now that's hard to believe coming from someone who cried every time their mother wouldn't give them attention." Fired Hans back as Ivar let out a chortle he tried very hard to hold back.

Björn took his seat next to Hans as Aksel rose to his feet in anger. "Keep my mothers name out of your mouth you punk!"

"Easy now brothers. Settle down and wait till father arrives. You will all have your time to deal with our little brother. Just be patient." Said Kaleb as Aksel sat on his seat again grudgingly.

"You know if I am sentenced to death I do hope it's Björn who gets to do the honors. Her at least make it fun." Said Hans as he leaned forward and picked out a grape from the tray and popped it into his mouth.

The doors opened again and this time King Soren stepped forward. All of his sons rose to their feet except for Hans. He stayed seated and continued to eat the grapes carelessly, not once addressing his father.

Up in one of the hidden vents of the room were two glowing emerald eyes hiding in the darkness. The castle was full of secret passages and Hanna had snuck into the one she always did as a young girl to spy on her brothers and their meetings.

She was never allowed inside. Her fathers excuse was always the same. Because she was a woman. But that never stopped her from sneaking in and ease dropped. And wouldn't stop her now.

She knew the castle better than anyone. Not even any of her brothers knew about this secret hiding place. Well all except Hans and Björn.

"Sit down." Ordered Soren as he took his seat. All of his sons did the same.

There was a long silence as they all waited for their father to speak. The only one who seemed to be ignoring him was Hans as he continued to eat his grapes.

"I know you're all wondering why I summoned you here. And more importantly you are wondering why I asked your brother Hans to return." He began.

"Yes to that last part." Murmured Hans as he popped another grape into his mouth.

"You are all aware of the ongoing conflict with Sweden and with your brother Lars. It's caused many kingdoms including our own to pass through tribulation. Inflation is rising higher each day and our people are the ones paying the highest cost to this.

And with Lars refusing to stand down even after drawing his army back, it's only inevitable that he will return with more men. And not just more men but more allied kingdoms to join his coalition. This means the Southern Isles will be at war."

Hans brothers murmured with one another at hearing their fathers words. All except Hans of course. Kaleb leaned forward to speak.

"Father what shall we do? Have any kingdoms accepted your invitation to fight alongside besides Arendelle?"

"I have yet to hear back from the remaining kingdoms but so far none has offer to join besides Arendelle. Lars has managed to convince many kingdoms to aid his coalition. Even forty percent of our own people." Said King Soren.

"They should be prosecuted for betraying us." Retaliated Kaleb. Hans rolled his eyes as he picked out another grape.

Even Hanna from inside the vent did the same. Rolling her eyes at Kalebs ridiculous claim.

"Father as I said before just send my brothers and I to finish this. We can rally enough men to put and end to Lars once and for all." Said Björn suddenly.

"Björn is right. We have the advantage let us go and finish this!" Said Ivar.

Soren was a silent for a moment until he finally looked up again and spoke.

"There are ten of our soldiers that are being held captive alongside ten Arendellian soldiers by Lars and his men. We cannot risk their safety. Not without a plan." Said Soren.

"Father with all due respect." Said Kaleb as his brothers and Soren turned to him. "They're just ten men. They've been trained to die for our kingdom and for you no matter what. And besides that would make us look weak when we have no kingdom joining our alliance."

"Kaleb is right. Arendelle has offered but you aren't serisouly considering accepting right?" Chuckled Franz but it suddenly grew quiet again as Soren looked at Franz straight in the eyes.

"Father?" Asked Kaleb with furrowed brows.

Hans stared at the grapes waiting for his father to finally speak.

"I have accepted Queen Anna's offer."

Hanna silently gasped and her eyes widened. Immediately all their brothers stood up and began to exclaim.

"This is absurd!"

"Father Arendelle is weak! They are no use!"

"Queen Anna should not be trusted after aiding Hans!"

"They will betray us and join Lars!"

Björn and Hans were the only one who stayed in their seats. Björn tried to reason with his brothers on why Arendelle should be trusted.

Hans only shook his head in annoyance. In unbelief himself how stupid it was for Anna to offer to aid his own father.

"Father." Said Kaleb boldly as the rest of his brothers ceased to shout. "Queen Anna made a fool out of our kingdom. She made alliance and signed a contract without your blessing and permission. Our own sister did all this to protect him!"

He pointed at Hans as he smirked and popped another grape into his mouth. Hanna was glaring angrily at Kaleb.

"She disrespected our law and our kingdom. She disrespected you. Why would we ever accept her offer!"

"Because it's the only way!" Exclaimed Soren finally in anger as Kaleb immediately stopped yelling. "Arendelle may not have the greatest militia in Scandinavia but this is the only way we have a chance of stopping Lars."

"Father Arendelle barely has a navy! It would be like taking children into a battlefield. We can't babysit them!" Exclaimed Rudi one of the large twins.

"Oh shut up, Rudi. We all have to babysit you all the time." Said Björn as Rudis cheeks turned red in embarrassment.

"Have I not prepared you all for this day? When you would defend Denmark with your life and with your sword? You've been preparing for this very moment your whole lives. Now is the time!" Said Soren.

"Father we are prepared. We have been in many battles and are ready to face any threat. But to go with Arendelle especially under these conditions is a suicide mission." Said Kaleb who had his arms crossed.

"Not if you go together." Said Soren as all his sons looked at him with furrowed brows. He pulled out a rolled up royal decree and unveiled it with many writings on it.

"What's this?" Asked Kaleb as he leaned in to look.

"A temporary contract with Arendelle. One which will establish alliance for three months so we may help our people and theirs while we try to finish this war and win it. In this contract it strictly implies that Arendelle cannot break their alliance for Sweden or they too will become a enemy and all the provisions we aided to them shall be stripped away." Declared Soren.

"A contract!? Father-"

"This is what needs to be done, Kaleb! This is how we stop Lars. And if all of you show Arendelle the ways of combat and guide them with you into the battle with hopefully the aid of other kingdoms we can have a chance to save Denmark."

"Great." Said Hans calmly and suddenly as they all turned to look at him. "Now what does all this have to do with me? This is your problem. Not mine. You are the king. The blood that has been spilled and will be spilled is on you so why the hell do you bring me back."

Soren was silent for a moment again as he stared coldly at his youngest son who only stared back before he finally spoke again.

"Because you are in the contract."

Hans brows furrowed as did Bjorn's. Kaleb quickly leaned forward and took the contract in his hands as he began to read.

"Furthermore. Arendelle and any other volunteering kingdom who shall join our cause shall take direct orders from thirteen captains of the Southern Isles.."

Kalebs eyes widened as did everyone else's. Hanna gasped from inside the vent as Björn leaned forward trying to register what Kaleb just read. Hans eyes were beginning to glow.

"Father.. by thirteen you don't mean-"

"I have prepared all of my sons to defend and die for Denmark. And I know that together you are stronger. That is why Hans shall join you to war to put an end to Lars."

Hans shook his head angrily as he rose to his feet with his fists slamming the table.

"Who the hell do you think you are-"

"You're king! That's who I am! And you will go fight for Denmark!"

"This war is not mine! I refuse to join any of you into this war!" Exclaimed Hans.

"You don't have a choice!" Exclaimed Soren just angry. "When you're a criminal you have no choice!"

"Father why!" Exclaimed Magnus. "Why do we need him?"

"Hans was admiral once. Did you all forget? If anyone knows the waters of Scandinavia better than anyone it's him. His knowledge will be useful for naval attacks, just the same as all of you."

Kaleb sat in silence. He hasn't voiced his opinion once but his expression was full of hatred.

"But there's only twelve of us. Without Lars we don't make thirteen." Said Franz.

"The thirteenth captain shall be chosen soon enough. We still have time." Said Soren.

Hanna pressed her brows together as suddenly her own eyes began to glow while an idea came to her head.

"If the Southern Isles is going to be victorious against Lars than I need all of my sons to fight. Together you can be victorious I know it." Declared the king.

"And Queen Anna has agreed to this?" Asked Björn.

"Yes." Replied Soren as Hans scuffed in annoyance. "But if Hans refuses to join all of you than the contract will be voided."

"How typical of you." Said Hans as his father frowned. "Using people to for your gain. This is why you wanted me back in Denmark? To use me as your war puppet? I welcome death before being your pawn in the political chess game of yours!"

"You have given up your rights the second you rebelled against me, your king. Now you will join your brothers and help liberate our people. But if you refuse our contract and alliance with Arendelle will forever cease to exist because of you and you shall live your entire life in the dungeons." Threatened his father.

"And let's say I do accept this ridiculous offer. What will be of me if I stop Lars and return huh?" Challenged Hans with a brow raised as if he knew the answer he was about to hear. "Will I be pardoned of my crimes? Will I be set free?

A brief moment of silence passed.

"That is not guaranteed.."

Hans let out a scoff as he smiled annoyingly. Hanna shook her head in disbelief. She couldn't believe what she was hearing.

There was tense silence as the two of them glared at one another. Hans shook his head in annoyance as he turned to leave. "I would rather be fed to the lions. I'm not doing your dirty work."

Hans stuck out his arms in gesture as if he was permitting the guards to place the shackles on him again. The guards were about to step forward until Soren stopped them.

"No. He's not going back to the dungeons." Said the king as they turned to look at him. "Send him to his old room and lock him there. He will not be permitted to leave until he makes a decision."

"Incredible. You're ego permits you from letting me even be your prisoner." Bit out Hans as the guards grabbed him by each arm.

"You have twenty-four hours to make your decision, Hans. You must choose to fight for your country or live the rest of your days in the dungeon."

"Save your breath. I won't choose. I won't fight for this country. Prisoner in the dungeon or prisoner war, what's the difference." He said as they escorted him out of the council room.

Soren sighed heavily as he turned the rest of his sons who were waiting on him to say something until Björn stood up from his feet.

"I'm going with him." He announced.

Soren shook his head in agreement as Björn started leaving to the doors. Hanna slowly backed away from the vent and disappeared into the darkness. She had heard enough.

"Recruit the men you need. Take care of all personal belongings and then meet tonight to prepare a battle plan." Said Soren to his sons.

None of them said anything until Kaleb finally stood up on his feet. Clearly still bothered by the news his father shared about the temporary contract with Arendelle and their youngest brother to join them.

"It shall be done, my king." Said Kaleb firmly with a nod before he turned to the rest of his brothers and gave them a signal to rise to their feet.

Immediately they all did one by one as they followed Kaleb out the doors leaving a tired and frustrated Soren by himself.

"What's taking so long in there?" Said Elsa anxiously as she continued to pace back and forth and hug herself.

It had seemed like they had left a while ago as endless moments passed by. The other royals had gone back to their rooms until they were needed again but Elsa and Anna had refused to leave.

Well.. more So Elsa was the one that was refusing to leave.

"I haven't even seen Hanna. Where did she go?" Asked Elsa again as she massaged her hands.

She stopped suddenly when she noticed Anna from the corner of her eye. Anna hadn't showed any emotion since the morning they rose from bed. She had been too quiet.

At first Elsa thought it may be due to the fact her and Kristoff were not on great terms after their engagement broke off but she seemed too reserved. Nothing like the Anna she knew.

"Anna are you okay? You've been quiet all morning." Said Elsa.

Anna said nothing for a few seconds as she pressed her lips. She didn't even know how to begin.

"Anna?" Asked Elsa again.

Finally Anna let out a exhausted sigh as she closed her eyes before opening them again.

She pulled out the royal scrolled decree from behind her as she presented it to Elsa. Elsa furrowed her brows as she took it and opened it up. She began to scan the writing from the very top to read it all the way through.

"A temporary contract with the Southern Isles? Only good for three months?" Said Elsa as she looked up at Anna again. "I mean it's better than nothing-"

"Keep reading." Interrupted Anna.

Elsa turned back to the contract where she had stopped reading.

"By this contract we declare that the Arendelle has agreed to aid the Southern Isles at war with Sweden. Arendelle will be required to send their best and able men as well as provide their ships, weapons and ammo."

Elsa sighed. "So we're going to war after all.."

There was a silence between them before Elsa looked up again.

"I support your decision, sister. I do believe me. It's just.. we haven't gone to war with anyone since our grandfather betrayed Northuldra. I'm happy Arendelle is at least secured for the next three months but how are we going to tell Yelena-"

"Keep reading." Said Anna firmly again.

Elsa furrowed her brows as she heard Anna interrupt her again. What more could there possibly be? She turned the contract once more and continued to read for a third time.

"Furthermore. Arendelle and any other volunteering kingdom who shall join our cause shall take direct orders from thirteen captains of the Southern Isles. Which-"

Elsa stopped as her eyes widened. Her stomach felt like it had moved around in knots at reading the number thirteen. She registered the information so quickly that she looked up at Anna without any hesitation.

"Anna.."

Anna had nothing to say as she looked to the floor again in shame.

"Anna are you kidding me!?" Said Elsa with frustration.

"I have no choice, Elsa." Replied Anna firmly.

Elsa was jaw dropped as she quickly looked back at the contract, this time down at the very bottom of the page where she could see Anna's royal signature and Arendellian crest stamp next to King Soren's.

It was done and sealed.

"You're sending a man you promised would be protected under Hanna's contract to be a prisoner of war! Do you know how this sounds?"

"Of course I know how this sounds!" Exclaimed Anna finally. "But what other choice do I have, Elsa? Let Arendelle perish? There's nothing else I can do!"

"When did you sign it?" Sighed Elsa as she rubbed her head.

Anna sighed tiredly. "Last night after I left King Soren's office. I already informed Damien to recruit the best able men that will sail with the Southern Isles. And I've already sent word back to Arendelle to inform our admiral and to general Mattias to do the same and to prepare to send men and ships out."

Elsa shook her head as she crossed her arms and began to pace back and forth once more. She couldn't believe this was happening.

"Look I don't like this either but we're desperate, Elsa. Arendelle needs these provisions-"

"Have you told Hanna yet?" Said Elsa cutting off her sister this time.

"No. Not yet.." said Anna as Elsa's expresión grew worrisome.

Suddenly the doors opened again as Kaleb stepped in and with his brothers following behind. The look on Kalebs face was serious, more serious than usual.

The King finally appeared from behind and quickly everyone stood tall. Every guard and every maid and servant.

The rest of the royals quickly made their way to Elsa and Anna as they waited for the king to sit on his throne.

But there was no sign of Hans. Nor was Björn anywhere to be seen. At that moment Elsa wondered if perhaps they took him back to the dungeon.

The king took his seat and sighed as he looked towards Anna who who looking back at him. She gave a nod as if she was assuring him that she signed the contract.

"Your majesties." He began as he looked at everyone around him. "A decision has been made."

When Hans was shoved into his room it felt like he had time traveled. Everything had been left exactly the same as when he left the first time many years ago.

Except all of his clothes and accessories were all gone. Probably burned into the fire. He walked around as he continued to stare with a confused look, still not registering he was actually in his room.

He had a large room but it looked much larger when he was younger. He opened the closet door where he found the old bunk beds he and Hanna used to share when they were children.

They both grew up sharing the same room until they reached the age of ten. Then they were required to separate rooms. He remembered the memories he had when they would hate rooms. He slept at the top and she slept at the bottom.

He remembered how Hanna struggled sleeping by her self. It was quite an adjustment to get used to and she would get nightmares or have a fear going to sleep by herself. So she would sneak out and go to Hans room where he would always let her in.

And even though she was able to quickly beat her fears they still would have sleepover as teenagers most of the times. Sometimes because they were bored or because they heard gossip regarding their older brothers. Even Björn would join at times.

Hans sighed as he closed the closet again. He hadn't stopped pacing back and forth. He was so angry with everything he heard from his fathers mouth.

They brought him back just to use him as a pawn in a war he had no part of and a country he did not care for anymore. He was so tempted to start smashing things in his room. And he was going to if he hadn't heard a knock on his door.

Knock-Knock

He turned to the opening door with a confused expression as suddenly Björn appeared and entered, quickly shutting the door behind him.

"Whoa. This is weird." Said Björn as he looked around Hans old room. "I haven't been in here in years.."

"Really? So you don't know who left everything practically the same as when I had left the Isles?" Asked Hans.

"Oh that was Hanna." Said Björn quickly. "She's the only one that comes in here. Everyone else.. well. You can already assume."

Hans scoffed as he shook his head and turned around facing the large window of his room where he saw a great view of the kingdom and the people trying to get into their homes quickly to escape the terrible blizzard.

"I know why you're here, Björn." Said Hans finally as he continued to look out to the blizzard. "And you're not going to convince me. No one will."

"I understand." Nodded Björn as he joined his brother next to him and also looked out the window.

"You do?" Questioned Hans with a brow raised.

"Come on, Hans. You're my brother. Of course I understand." Sighed Björn. "Father is out of control.."

"He's gotten worse. I don't even know how that's even possible." Said Hans.

"Look pay no attention to that. Whatever you decide is entirely up to you." Said Björn as he handed Hans a spare key.

"What's this for?" Asked Hans with furrowed brows.

"Spare key to your room in case you want to get out and take your mind of things. Just do me a favor and don't get caught." Smirked Björn as he patted his brothers back and left to leave.

"Björn hold on." Said Hans as he turned around to face his brother who was already at the door. "What would you do if you were in my shoes?"

Björn pressed his lips as he took in a deep breath. "I think you already know the answer to that brother."

He stepped out and closed the door behind him leaving Hans alone.

The Holy Church

Sunday

January 7th, 1844

All royals were Christian's. Not by choice but by duty. They were born, baptized and make a promise to serve the church at all times, even unto death. So it was no surprise that all of them had gone to the Sunday services in one of Denmark's largest Christian church.

Elsa sat with Anna and Hanna as the holy priest of the church continued to read scripture and bless the sacrament.

King Soren of course was the first to go up and kneel as they placed the sacramental bread in his mouth and then gave him the wine to drink as the priest blessed him.

Than the rest of multitude went up by order. First the princes and princess of the Southern Isles. Than the royals and than the rest of the others who were in attendance.

Anna sat back down with Elsa after taking the sacrament and was trying her best to pay attention but her mind was worried and couldn't not stay focused.

When she and Elsa told the news to Honeymaren she was so angry that she stormed to her guest room and refused to come back out.

Kristoff and the rest of the trainee soldiers were permitted to attend Sunday services by Kaleb. They sat in the very back row together. But Kristoff didn't care to pay attention. He stared at Anna with disappointment and criticism how she agreed to join the war.

Elsa had been praying non stop since she sat down. She was praying to God to touch Hans heart and make the right decision.

Although she felt the contract was cruel she agreed with her sister that their people need this more than ever and it all came down to one man's decision.

And it was Hans of all people.

Hanna had been quite the whole time. Anna grew worried that perhaps she would hate her now for signing the contract. They haven't talked to each other all morning.

"Amen.." said Elsa as she gave the sign of the holy cross before she opened her eyes and looked up again to the giant cross of Jesus Christ which he was nailed in.

She had always believed in God. Ever since she was a young girl she never doubted His existence. When she was all alone and locked in her room it was the Bible and God that got her through her most difficult days. And right now she needed His help more than ever.

"Princess Hanna?" Whispered Elsa to Hanna who gently leaned in. "Forgive me for asking at such a holy place as we are in today but.. where is Hans? Was he sent back to the dungeons?"

"No. He was sent to his room and to be under lock down until he makes a decision whether he'll join my brothers or not." Said Hanna.

Elsa's eyes widened. "You know?"

Hanna nodded.

"H-how did you-"

"I snuck into one of the vents of the council room where my brothers and father meet. I heard everything. Even down the ultimatum my father gave Hans." Said Hanna.

Elsa sighed nervously. "I am praying to God he makes the right choice.."

"Keep praying harder than, Queen Elsa. My brother did not take the news well yesterday." Whispered Hanna back. "He's sticking to his guns and refusing to join."

Anna who was barely able to listen to their conversation swallowed nervously as soon as she heard Hanna say Hans didn't take the news well. So it was clear she knew at least something. And the last thing she wanted was for Hanna to hate her now too.

"Is Hans not permitted to enter the holy church?" Asked Elsa. "Perhaps he can receive personal revelation if he asks our Lord."

"Oh he's permitted. In fact our priest even offered to visit him in his room to see if he can be baptized again." Said Hanna.

"Really? So why isn't he here?" Asked Elsa with furrowed brows.

"Hans doesn't believe in God, your majesty." Said Hanna as Elsa's eyes widened in surprise.

"H-he doesn't?" Said Elsa.

"Not at all. Which is silly right? He was after all born into the church and baptized. But he has no interest in God whatsoever. That is why I said keep praying harder, your majesty. Let us keep praying my brother changes his mind because I don't even know if God Himself can change it."

Elsa was left speechless as she watched Hanna join the rest of the congregation and make the sign of the holy cross before she joined in prayer.

She looked up to the nailed Jesus again and breathed in nervously.

"Lord please help us.."

The Southern Isles Castle

As soon as the church services ended everyone was dismissed and returned back to their homes and the castle.

But as soon as word was announced that the king would be addressing his kingdom regarding the conflict with Sweden the whole castle staff was running through the castle quickly to prepare things.

Hanna was walking down the hall quickly as she made her way to the outside castle where her people were beginning to gather.

Several servants passed by her as they continued to give orders while Hanna continued to make her way down the hall as quickly as she could.

"Princess Hanna!" Came the voice from the strawberry blonde queen. "Princess Hanna!"

Hanna briefly turned around where she could see Anna making her way past the busy castle staff to get to her.

"Princess Hanna!" Said Anna out of breath as she finally caught up to her. "Oh I'm glad I caught you. There is something we must discuss-"

"Queen Anna. I'm glad you arrived, you're just on time. I'm on my way to the outside court for my fathers address. You might want to warm up it's gotten colder."

"Princess Hanna wait." Said Anna as she grabbed Hanna's arm gently, trying to prevent her from walking any further. "There is something I must discuss with you.. you're father and I.."

"Hans needs to make a decision I know." Said Hanna. "I'll do everything I can to convince him but right now he's in a rather dark place I don't know if he'll come around-"

"Wait.." said Anna with confused brows as the busy staff continued tp run past them. "You.. know?"

Hanna nodded. "I was there. I snuck through one of the large vents I always snuck in as a child. I saw the whole thing go down."

"And.. you aren't upset with me?" Asked Anna worriedly as she played with her nails nervously while looking at Hanna with a concerned expression.

"Of course not." Reassured Hanna as she put her hands firmly on Anna's tense shoulders. "But I am worried that my brother won't agree to the terms of the contract."

"How upset was he when you're father told him?" Asked Anna.

"Very.. I haven't seen him that mad in quiet some time.." said Hanna.

Anna sighed as she rubbed her head stressfully. "Believe me I didn't want to go through with this. I feel horrible for breaking our promise but.. my people are in desperate need and-"

"Anna. It's okay." Said Hanna squeezing Anna's shoulders again and quickly preventing her from stress crying. "There's a lot on your shoulders right now but we are doing what's right for our people."

A royal guard was running down the halls as he shouted repeatedly to inform the people.

"The king will speak in five minutes! The king will speak in five minutes!"

"Come on." Said Hanna as she led the way to outside where everyone was meeting.

The Stables

Hans stood over Sitron as he would occasionally pet him and watch him go to town on that hay.

He was thankful that his brother was able to give him a spare key. He took advantage to sneak out of his room when he had heard that his father called the kingdom so he can make his announcement.

He didn't think being locked in his room was just as bad if not worse than being locked in the dungeon. The thought of his brothers being nearby by made him angry.

Hans had his back turned to the stables doors when he overheard someone approaching as their boots made noise with the deep snow.

But Hans didn't care enough to turn around and see who it might be. He already had a idea.

"Your majesty." He said as he continued to look at Sitron and not her behind.

"I thought I might find you here." Said Elsa.

"Really? He said unimpressed.

"That and I noticed you sneaking your way here." Said Elsa as Hans slowly turned around to meet the snow queens gaze before she continued to speak.

"And let me guess, your majesty. You've come all this way to help me reconsider possibly leaving with my brothers to Sweden."

Elsa didn't say anything.

"We'll I'm afraid your wasting your time. I would rather die." He said turning around again as his back faced her.

Elsa was quiet for a moment again as she looked out to the large crowd of people that were surrounding the castle where the king was beginning his address.

They might have been a little far off but she could still hear the king speak. Everyone was so quiet and respectful as they paid close attention to all the words their king spoke.

She turned back to Hans again as he grabbed a pitchfork and continued to separate more hay to Sitron and other horses that were staying inside the stables.

"May I ask you something?" Asked Elsa as she continued to watch him separate the hay.

Hans sighed and rolled his eyes. "Sure."

"Why do you hate God." She said firmly.

The sudden question made Hans stop as he furrowed his brows at the question Elsa had asked. He straightened himself as he turned around with furrowed brows.

"What?"

"You're hatred for God and Christianity. You refused to join us at church today and refused the priest to give you a blessing." Said Elsa.

"It's a big deal to you that I refused to participate?" Said Hans with a devious smirk.

"I assume you would. You were baptized by the holy priest and anointed since birth just like I and many others were." Said Elsa.

"And that means I should believe in such a thing?" Scoffed Hans as Elsa continued to look at him.

There was a long silence between them. Finally Elsa spoke.

"So you don't believe."

"Of course not. Why should I?" Retaliated Hans with serious eyes.

"Is it your anger that prevents you from believing?" She pressed even further.

"What? No it's not my anger-"

"Or because you've never searched fro the truth yourself-"

"Whoa stop." Said Hans firmly. "Don't do that."

"Do what?" Asked Elsa with a confused brow raised.

"Don't try to lecture me with your Christian beliefs. I have no interest in hearing fake stories from someone like you."

"Stories?" said Elsa with widened eyes.

"Yes stories."

"They're scriptures!" Exclaimed Elsa. "The most ancient textbooks and history in mankind! Maybe you'd understand if you ever picked up a Bible!

"Hah! You're hilarious." Mocked Hans as Elsa widened her eyes again. "I've read that stupid book many times. Studied it since birth and memorized passages. God may work for others but not for me. It's a fairytale."

Elsa's jaw could've dropped right then and there. The way he mocked God was just astonishing to hear.

"Besides why do you even believe in God? I mean look at you.

"Excuse me!?" Said Elsa this time offended. "What about me?"

"Come on. You're joking right? You're telling me you still believe in God with these powers you process? Please your just fooling yourself." Said Hans.

"I was created after Gods image just like you and many others." Retaliated Elsa. "I don't know why God granted me these powers-"

"God!? For goodness sake it was the forest!"

"Which was created by Him! All things on this earth and out of this earth were created for a purpose. I was created by Him and serve a purpose just like others do! Powers or no powers!" Said Elsa with sureness.

Hans brows pressed together. "What are you getting at."

Elsa took in a deep breath.

"Perhaps this is your purpose Hans." She said as Hans rolled his eyes and turned around to grab the pitchfork. "Perhaps you are chosen to go with your brothers because you may be the only one to stop Lars-"

"ENOUGH!" Exclaimed Hans so loudly that it took Elsa by surprise. "I am tired of everyone telling me what I should do and shouldn't do! You, Anna, my father, my sister. When will you guys just leave me the hell alone!?"

Elsa was quiet as the two continued to stare at each other. Hans took in a deep breath as he returned to separating the hay.

Elsa turned to look at the large crowd again who were still listening to the final address of the king. And Elsa could tell because his speech sounded like he was trying to motivate his people now.

"You're right." She said suddenly as Hans stopped suddenly but refused to turn around. "I can't convince you. There's no point. That's not why I came here."

"Than why did you come here." He said.

"To say my farewell I suppose." She Said As Hans brows furrowed. "This might be the last time we see each other. Given the fact Anna and I must prepare Arendelle for the worst. I must be there to protect my people it all costs."

Hans continued to listen attentively.

"But you are right, Hans. I don't know what the future holds for me or you or anyone for that matter. But I choose to believe in God because He provides the thing that no other being in the world can provide. Not even someone as powerful as me."

"What's that." He said bluntly.

"Faith." She answered. "I'm scared of what's gonna happen. But I have faith in my God."

Hans was quiet again. This time he couldn't say anything even if he wanted to.

"And I have faith that you are capable of doing something that none of your brothers can do. It's true what you said and how difficult your family is with you. I've seen it first hand. But I also see in you that you bring something to the table they aren't able to offer or even do.

And they see it too. You're a threat to them even if you don't believe it. Youre different from them and you know deep inside in your hear that you are. And perhaps that's why you are needed."

Hans was speechless.

"Or perhaps I'm wrong. Who really knows. Perhaps we lose the war and perhaps Arendelle falls but I will not lose my faith in God. God has given us free will so you are free to choose. But as much as I hate you, Hans... I have faith you can either become a hero or live long enough to see yourself become a villain."

Elsa turned around to leave with Hans not once turning to her.

"Goodbye, Hans."

Hans watched her as she left and headed towards the castle as the rest of the people were dismissed back to their homes.

And Hans still remained speechless with his jaw slightly open.

Soren was walking to his office after he finished talking to the visiting royals. It seemed like the whole kingdom was busy.

Even Björn was hard at work at recruiting able young men for the war. As captain of the army it was one of his duties and he hadn't stopped since last he saw Hans.

"Father." Said Hanna as she walked up to her father who was busy giving demands.

"Oh Hanna. Good thing your here. I was about to send for you if you could help write a letter of encouragement to our people that way our staff can make copies and send out throughout the kingdom-"

"I wanted to inform you that I'll be leaving with my brothers." She interrupted boldly.

Soren stopped talking as he stared at Hanna. Her stance and stare was serious, more serious than she had ever seen. Her emerald eyes pierced through him.

"I already spoke to Björn and informed him to not bother finding a thirteenth captain because I will fulfill that duty. I will also take a large portion of my women with me." She said.

Soren stayed quiet as he inhaled slowly. He could see by his daughters gaze that she had made up her mind and that she was going to do it no matter what he did to stop her.

"And you're not going to get in the way." She added boldly. "You will let me leave or so help me you will never see me again."

Hanna turned to leave and started marching away as Soren sighed again and moved his neck around to release the stress.

"On one condition." Said King Soren.

Hanna's eyes widened when she heard him, even slightly gasping. She turned to her father with a confused expression.

"Convince your brother."

Anna was walking through the hall that led to her guest room. She was so exhausted and it was only noon. She reached her door but right before she was about to open it someone called her by name boldly that made her jumó in surprise.

"Anna!" Said Kristoff as he marched towards her. Anna furrowed her brows as she turned to face her former fiancé. "I can't believe you.."

"What are you doing here? You shouldn't be here. At all!" Retaliated Anna.

"I could care less what you say." Fired Kristoff back angrily.

"Really? You want to repeat that again to your queen." Said Anna bitterly with pressed brows.

"Queen of not I could care less. You just signed all of Arendelle to their death." He said angrily.

"Since when do you care about Arendelle?" Said Anna. "Weren't you the one that said you hated your life in Arendelle-"

"For Gods sake this isn't about us!" Exclaimed Kristoff.

"You're right! It isn't! So I suggest you turn around and march back to your unit before I inform your superior officer that you have been trespassing and harassing your queen."

"Harassing?" Kristoff scoffed. "Is that your excuse and way of cowarding away from your problems? How pathetic-"

SLAP!

A firm slap collided with Kristoffs cheek. Catching him off guard as his eyes widened. Anna's rage finally broke and she has slapped Kristoff across the face.

"Don't ever talk to me that way! I am your queen. That's all I am to you. You don't talk unless you are permitted and you don't follow me around.

Everything I am doing is for the safety of Arendelle. So don't you dare question me. Stay the hell away from me and get lost already, Kristoff!" She exploded.

It was a miracle no one was around. Anna's fume finally went off. She was angry but inside she was shaking. Even her hands were trembling.

Never had she ever put her hands on anyone except Hans and that was for an entirely different reason. The pile of stress and anxiety finally weighed her down. Kristoff was the last thing she needed to see and hear.

Anna's turquoise eyes were still on Kristoffs angry brown ones as she held her ground. She had enough.

Finally after a long moment Kristoff shook his head with frustration as he continued to stare at her grudgingly.

"You're the worst thing that's ever happened to my life." Said Kristoff. "How did I never notice before."

And with those final words Kristoff turned around marched away leaving an overwhelmed Anna to herself.

War Room

It was late at night when Kaleb had called a meeting with all his brothers in the war room. They had been at it for about two hours and were surrounding the large round table as Kaleb continued to go over tactical plans with them.

"When we arrive to Sweden we need to make sure we avoid any outside spies. The plan is to disembark our men as quietly as possible. We don't want want bloodshed right away." Explained Kaleb.

The round table had a large map of Scandinavia and several pawns and toy sized weapons and men to show an example of their planning.

The burning lantern in the middle provided light in the very dark room.

"Ah, but that's the best part. It wouldn't be a proper war without bloodshed now would it?" Said Rudi sadistically as he continued to sharpen his large dagger.

"Hey idiot. We're trying to win a war not lose it." Sassed back Erik the tenth oldest.

"Our plan is to arrive at Helsingborg before morning. They're beach will most likely be under patrol by outside soldiers so we need to leave our ships away from the main land. Than we'll separate into parties." Explained Kaleb.

"Who are the two parties?" Asked Björn who was studying and listening attentively with his arms crossed.

"Franz and I will lead our party through the left flank with the Southern Isles solders while you, Björn, lead the right flank with the Arendellians and their lieutenant. Hanna will also be in your care. We'll meet at the borders of Nyköpig."

"Great this sounds cool and all but.. are we just going to ignore the elephant in the room?" Said Aksel the sixth oldest.

"What are you talking about." Asked Björn as the rest of the brothers also stared at Aksel with confusion.

Aksel sighed as he snatched a toy sized soldier and began to explain.

"There's a deep end just right before you arrive Helsingborg. When we sail through there we grab Hans and.."

The brothers watched as Aksel flicked the toy solider with his finger as it landed right at the deep end he was referring to.

They looked at Aksel with confused brows as he waited for anyone to agree with him.

"Oh come on! It's simple! We get rid of him and father won't ever find out what happened. His body won't ever be found and we can finish the task without him. It's a win win for everyone! Uff!"

Aksel groaned in pain when the back of Bjorn's hand collided with his crotch. His knees became weak as he held his stomach in pain.

"Quit clowning around. We need Hans for that very reason. So we can avoid the deep end and sail through this godforsaken winter." Said Björn.

"But do we really need him?" Added Björn with a brow raised.

"Shh. Focus." Said Kaleb snapping his fingers as they looked at him again. "Now back to the plan. When we arrive at Nyköpig we'll send our spies to inspect the area. And as soon as we're in the clear we'll attack Lars by surprise."

"How are you so sure he'll be there?" Asked Jørgen as Aksel continued to rub his stomach, trying to pass the pain.

"Hell be there. Trust me." Assured Kaleb.

Everyone was silent for a moment as they slowly nodded in agreeance. Bjorn however stayed quiet as he continued to study the plan carefully.

"We need to verify this plan with Hans." He said suddenly.

"What are you crazy? Why should he get a say in this?" Said Franz the second oldest.

"He's going with us. What have you all already forgot? Besides he knows the sea better than any of us." Retaliated Björn .

"Bjorn. If Hans hasn't accepted fathers request than theres not much we can do. Until he e dies other wise he has no say in our plan." Said Kaleb.

Björn sighed heavily as Kaleb stood tall and addressed his brothers again.

"I have joes we'll be successful. We've been to war before brothers. This is nothing new to us. Yes Lars is a vital threat but we can succeed. I know it." He said.

The brothers all nodded in agreement, this time even Björn agreed.

"Tomorrow is a new day brothers! Tomorrow we sail to war!" Exclaimed Franz before he started to sing.

Soon enough all of their brothers joined in perfect melody as they sang from their chests with power and pride. Even Björn.

The familiar melody they all knew.

My mother told me

Someday I would buy

Galleys with good oars

Sails to distant shores

Stand up on the prow

Noble barque I steer

Steady course to the haven

Hew many foe-men

Hew many foe-men...

Hans' Bedroom

Monday

January 8th, 1844

Hans inhaled deeply and let out a long exhale followed by it as he slowly opened his eyes. He stood in his old childhood room with the folded clothes in front of him.

One of them raggedy and used with faded coloring. It also came with used shoes that matched the ugliness of the coloring.

This was the clothes he would permanently use if he refused his fathers proposal. If he refused to go with his brothers to war.

He would be sentenced to life in prison.

But in the other side of his old bed was the new gear that his brother Björn picked out for him. The gear he would use if he accepted and went with his brothers to Sweden.

There was even a fresh bath that was drawn from the maids this morning should Hans wish to go with his brothers.

He stared at the wrapped gear with somberness as he raised his eyes to see all of the people of his kingdom huddling close to the docks as they continued to say goodbye to their loved ones.

And there was Elsa with Anna next to her as they watched from a distance.

He looked down to the two sets of clothes as he let out another long breath. Still conflicted what to do.

Knock-Knock

He turned to his door where Hanna entered inside. Much to Hans surprise she was in full shield maiden gear just like the rest of her woman warriors. Even her hair was braided.

"Let me Guess. It's your turn to now try to convince me right?" Said Hans annoyingly as he turned to face the window again.

Hanna sighed heavily. "Actually I came to say goodbye."

Hans furrowed his brows as he turned to look at her with a surprised and concerned look on his face.

"Goodbye? What do you mean?" He asked as he studied his sister again and her gear. Even her sword was strapped on her belt with her shield sitting on her back. "You're leaving with them?"

Hanna nodded. "I am."

"How'd you convince our old man?" Asked Hans still surprised by the news she shared.

"I told him it was out of his control. I was going with my shield maidens no matter what or he would never see me again." She said as she joined her brothers side to also look out the window. "And he also asked me to convince you."

Hans scoffed as he looked away and shook his head.

"But I'm not gonna do that." Said Hanna. "This your decision. Not mine or anyone else's."

Hans turned to look at his sister again with the same expression he had in the beginning.

"I love you, Hans. Just always remember that even if you never see me again. "I'll always love you." Said Hanna.

She then leaned forward and stood on her toes slightly to reach and give him a kiss on his cheek before she patted his shoulder and turned to leave.

Hans didn't turn around once. He didn't even kiss or hug her back. Instead he let her go as she closed the door behind her.

Because he wasn't going to join. In no way was he going to be dragged into this war and be made a forced prisoner of war. He was awaiting for his death

At least, that's what he kept trying to tell himself as Elsa's words continued to linger on his mind.

Because in his heart he knew what he had to do.

The weather was cold and very windy. There was snow everywhere but that was the least of their problems. Ailing under these conditions and without experience could be fatal.

There were three ships were prepared and ready to enter as the men said their final farewells to their wives, mothers and children. Each of them leaving some sort of token with them.

It was a scenery of mixed emotions. The atmosphere of knowing that they could possibly be saying their final goodbyes.

Meanwhile Hans brothers were all geared up in southern isles combat uniforms and were just finishing cleaning their hairs and faces in ceremony as they all said farewell to their father the king one final time who stood at the end of the dock.

He looked worriedly at Hanna who stood with the rest of her shield maidens. He knew trying to convince her to stay would only push her further away from him and she was the last memory he had of Nora.

Then he looked towards the end of the open line where other men were assembling and headed towards the docks. Wondering if Hans was going to show up or not.

The king let out a frustrated sigh when there was still no sign of him. Kaleb who stood with his brothers pulled out a pocket watch to see the time before he shook his head angrily and stuffed it back in.

It seemed Hans wasn't going to show up after all. Even Björn was starting to worry that would be the case. He quickly glanced over to Elsa who also seemed to share the same expression as him.

Honeymaren had been standing next to Ryder and Kristina with her arms crossed over her as she watched the people ready themselves.

She was not at all happy after hearing the news from Anna. She hasn't even talked to Arendellian sisters since she stormed into the guest room.

She hoped they could just get out of this this kingdom as quickly as possible. She was done with this trip and with these people.

Honeymarens brow raised when she heard a pair of boots approaching the end of the dock where she was standing.

She looked up tot he tall figure where Björn had appeared next to her. He was looking out to the people like she was. He hasn't even acknowledged Honeymaren m next to him but he knew she was there.

Great. What does the doofus what now? A kiss goodbye?

"Can I help you?" She said annoyingly as she looked up at the prince.

"I actually just came to say goodbye." He replied with a smirk as he continued to look out the cold waves.

"Okay? And what makes you think I care for you to say goodbye." She questioned with sass.

Björn smirked as a quick chuckle escaped his lips. He was silent for a moment as the two of them looked out to the people in front of them.

"You were wrong you know." He said suddenly.

Honeymarens brows furrowed at hearing the sudden accusation. Even if she didn't have a clue what she was talking about.

"Wrong about what?" Honeymaren said bluntly as she looked up at him again

"I'm not like any other prince. I'm a good person and am faithful. Well I try to be. I have my fun here and there but don't we all?" He said.

"What are you trying to get at?" Sighed Honeymaren with un amusement.

"I guess what I'm trying to say is that you should learn to trust people more. Even when all they're trying to do is get to know you." Said Björn this time with a brow raised of his own.

"That'll never happen. I trust no one." Retaliated Honeymaren.

Björn smirked and shrugged. "Yeah maybe not. And maybe your right. Maybe I am just like every other royal."

Honeymaren watched as he started to walk away down the docks to meet with his sister who was huddled with the shield maidens.

"In any case why does it matter. I'll probably die in battle." He said as he flashed a smirk at her one last time before joining his sister.

Honeyamren watched with a curious gaze as she reflected his annoying words.

Anna looked over to the huddled group of Southern Isles soldiers and shield maidens as they each passed a bowl full of water. Her brows furrowed when she saw each of them spit and wash their hands and hair one by one as they passed it around in circle until everyone performed the strange ritual.

"What are they doing?" Asked Anna to Elsa who had also been watching.

"I've read this before It's an ancient Norse tradition. They wash themselves in the dirtiest fashion for protection on the journey and to honor the Gods." Said Elsa.

"But we don't believe in Gods anymore." Said Anna.

"No we don't. But looks like Denmark kept that tradition." Said Elsa as her conversation with Hans yesterday came to her mind.

The cold wind continued on as the waves of the freezing water splashed the edges of the docks. The sails of the ship moved rapidly as did the flags of Denmark and the crest of the Southern Isles and Arendelle.

Arendelle was already assembled inside the ship. They only waited for the Southern Isles to assemble into their own. Kristoff was within them as he finished adjusting his luggage.

He looked up at Anna with somber eyes. Anna had been looking at him but she quickly blinked and looked away. This could be the last time they see each other.

"Are you going to say goodbye?" Whispered Elsa to Anna.

Anna quickly glanced at Kristoff who sighed tiredly and shook his head as he finally looked away.

"No." Answered Anna as Elsa looked at her sister worriedly.

Everyone was huddled together as they said their final goodbyes and were about to turn to finally embark inside the ship.

But suddenly a figure appeared from within the market as he began walking down towards the line that lead to the docks.

The people who were nearby the market were taken back as they looked at each other and then at the man.

One of the Southern Isles sailors noticed him from the ship. His eyes widened and suddenly he reached for the horn and blew it on it loudly as everyone turned to see what the big fuss was about. And their eyes widened in surprised.

The kings eyes widened, his sons eyes widened and even Elsa's did too.

It was Hans walking down towards the docks. Freshly bathed and with a bag on his right hand and fully dressed with the new gear the king had picked for him.

It was the same like unto his brothers except his were darker to resemble that he was not a prince.

His hair was up in a bun and he had even trimmed a beard just a bit giving it the perfect shape.

Immediately all of the men and Hanna's shield maidens who had been stalling and waiting to leave rose to their feet and finally began to form a line and soon enough they were all following behind Hans in assembly.

Kaleb and his brothers watched in annoyance the way they followed Hans as if he was leading a people to the ships. They really thought for a second he wasn't going to come.

Hans walked down the dock with a serious stare as he quickly looked to his right were his faithful brother Björn was following closely next to him. Hanna was behind him with Cassandra and the rest of the woman following.

Hans quickly glanced again where on the right side where all the royal monarchs in line as they saw the men off. In the line he spotted Elsa and Anna staring at him.

Hanna looked back towards her people and kingdom one last time. All of her people seeing them off with worry in their eyes. She turned away and continued to follow her brother.

Hans was approaching the ships when he looked up and met eyes with his father who stared with no emotion in his face. There stood Kaleb next to his father with bitterness and the rest of his brothers.

Hans looked away without saying a word to any of them as the whole multitude of people who finally entered the small ships and began to stuff their belonging inside.

Hans was going to be the the first to jump in followed by Björn but something came over Hans instead.

Hans looked away and then noticed Elsa and Anna with Honeymaren and Ryder standing nearby with the rest of the royal monarchs.

Then something came over Hans. He turned around and for a second there Hanna and Björn were worried Hans had changed his mind. Even Kaleb and Soren watched with carefulness.

Elsa's brows furrowed when he noticed Hans walking towards her. Even Anna was confused by what was happening. Hans reached for the back of his neck and began to fondle his hands as if he was grabbing something.

He finally met a respectable distance with Elsa and Anna and pulled out the fine necklace that carried his pendant. The Southern Isles crest.

Elsa brows furrowed and was even more confused when she saw it. Then her eyes widened when she saw him extend it to her.

He said nothing to her and he didn't need to. Because what Hans was giving Elsa was his most precious memory of his mother. The only thing he had left of her.

Elsa understood every well in that moment that Hans was leaving it to her and in her care in case he should die.

In all honesty she didn't know how to react. The two of them were interlocked with eyes. Emeralds staring at icy blues as Anna watched next to them with a raised brow.

Finally Elsa took the necklace from his hands as Hans looked at her and then briefly at Anna before turning away and heading back to the ship where Hanna and Björn were waiting without saying a word.

He jumped into the ship and watched as everyone else continued to enter the ship. Even his brothers as they all passed by him with death stares. Hans couldn't care less and ignored them. But then Kaleb passed by and he stopped dead in his tracks as the two of them met with intensity.

None of them said a word to each other but they didn't have to. There was nothing but hate towards each other. Björn waited patiently if he needed to stand up to break the two or not. But Kaleb finally walked away to join the rest of his brothers.

Hans sighed as he turned around to meet his brother who was smiling at him. Then he looked up to Hanna who was hanging on to the ships sail and also smiled at Hans. Both of them proud of Hans decision.

And all three of them realizing they were together at last. And that they were going to be sailing to a great adventure.

Together. Just like they dreamed of when they were small children.

Hans smirked slightly and nodded before he turned away.

Elsa stared at the familiar necklace before she and her sister looked up and saw that the ships finally starting to sail away.

Seeing Hans finally sail away.

And everyone watched as the Hans and his brothers along with Hanna and her shield maidens drifted further and further away from the great kingdom with the Arendellian men sailing close behind.

All of the people saw them off. They even saw them off from the fjords, waving farewell to them.

As they headed to Sweden.
