Guest F: Don't worry, you will figure it out; once you figure it out the first time, the rest will be deciphered like nothing, I'm sure of it.

Yagami Residence

Today was Rain's day off and with her brothers still out, she decided to have the day to herself and that usually meant spending a day killing time as well as criminals. Not too many criminals whose names are being broadcasted for the time being so she was willing to settle for putting down some violent criminal behind bars. All she had to do was access her computer, go through a few carefully stealthy steps to get the names and faces of her prisoners, and then boom, drop dead deadbeats.

Rain is wearing nothing but a robe as she brews herself some coffee. She reaches into the fridge and pulls out a caramel apple. Gintik Hagmay materializes behind her and grabs the apple.

"Haha, and here I was thinking my favorite daughter would forget about my favorite food."

Rain looks at him. "Well, when one tends to be the favorite daughter by default, they tend to try harder to. Am I right?"

"I wouldn't know; I'm an only child."

"My brothers are still out having themselves a guys' week out so... I got a whole day of extracurricular activities all to myself."

Rain heads over to the couch, turns on the TV, and switches to the latest news segment on Kira.

"Welcome to Sakura TV, the news program where we spread Kira's words as openly and honestly as possible. Hello, I am Kira's spokesperson and I look forward to spreading the word today."

The spokesperson crosses her leg over her knee. "Now, as you all know, it's been a few days since Kira gave his word but to recite his last message: 'You all know what to do; make sure you do it'. We may not have further instructions or words from Kira but we all know what he wants from us."

Rain turns back and takes a sip of her coffee. Wincing, she heads for the fridge to pour two spoonfuls of creamer into her coffee.

"To give evildoers a second chance and to avert crises before they happen. Kira wants us to... uh... defend the guilty. To... punish our followers for allowing them to hurt guilty people so blindly."

Rain pauses mid-step and looks up after hearing the sound of the Kira spokesperson rambling and stuttering over her words.

"Huh?" Gintik Hagmay looks confused as he finishes his apple. "What's that about?"

Stepping toward the TV, Rain stops five feet away and focuses on the screen like it is some kind of Magic Eye poster.

"A new word from Kira has just been sent in. Kira does not want guilty people to die anymore, no matter the cost, as killing guilty people takes away their chance at redemption and all humans deserve a second chance."

Cocking her head, she takes another sip of coffee.

The spokesperson looks to someone off-screen, most likely the teleprompter. Though there were no words, the confused look on her face said it all. "I'm sorry but uh... I think we may have some technical difficulties. But... do not change the channel. Do not, switch to another channel as we will report on the latest update. Ahem, excuse me. According to inside sources, several people have reported several data corruption-"

Rain switches to a different channel: a cartoon as background music.

Gintik Hagmay laughs. "Looks like Sakura TV got confused with their script."

"That, or she really needs glasses." Rain licks the back of her teeth.

Gintik Hagmay finishes his apple.

Rain heads over to her computer. She checks several social media sources while taking another sip of her coffee. Sighing heavily, she leans back in her chair before her eyes land on the camera on her computer after a red dot flashes. Her eyes drift back towards the screen and she simply takes another sip of coffee.

Gintik Hagmay steps towards her. "Hey, Rain, I just want to let you know that if you let people stutter, ramble, and misinform the people of Kira's words, then people will start to have doubts. I mean, how can you trust someone who is wrong about their information?" Rain says nothing. "Hey, Rain, answer me."

She continues to say nothing, yet, her eyes drift over to almost every electronic in the house, from her TV, smoke detector, and microwave.

Rain finishes the cup of coffee before spinning the chair to her right and jumping out. She heads to the sink and ever so slowly and carefully begins to handwash the mug. She looks over to her computer desk and looks at the drawer where she kept the Death Note. She turns back to her mug and finishes cleaning it out.

"Hey, what is going on? Why are you being so quiet?" He silences himself as memories that weren't his flood through his mind. "Hold on, is this some kind of fifty or sixty cameras in the house situation?"

She pulls out her phone and dials a familiar number.

"Hello?"

"Sei," Rain begins, making her voice sound sultry. "How are you doing?"

"Good, you?"

"Good. I was wondering uhm, well... today's my day off, and... my brothers aren't here. Are you free today?"

"Haha, for you, Rainy, any day now."

"Aww, what's the earliest you can make it?"

"Uhh, I can make it right now; I'm not doing anything."

"Any chance you can arrive in thirty minutes; I got some setting up to do."

"Yeah, sure. I'll see you in thirty minutes."

"Oh, and... I'll wear some... very nice clothes. Just for you. But... could you wear your leather jacket, you know, the one I got you for Christmas last year, the one I handsewn myself?"

"My jacket for your sexy outfit... whatever you say, Rain."

"Thank you, I'll see you in thirty."

Rain is the first to hang up and head into the bathroom. She takes her phone with her and carefully sets it down on the counter. After a few seconds, Rain drops her robe, leaving her naked, before drawing herself a bath. Once the tub fills halfway, she climbs in and submerges herself up to her neck. She opens her eyes as Gintik Hagmay materializes in front of her.

Gintik Hagmay averts his eyes. "What is going on, Rain? Why the sudden change in attitude? Is this some kind of camera situation?"

Rain reaches for the curtains and pulls them, blocking her from view. She turns to the shower nozzle and unscrews the cap. She pulls out a piece of paper before putting the nozzle back in place and sits down in the bathtub once more.

"I think I'm spied on right now," Rain admits softly in the quietest voice she could muster. "My computer... it had that single-flash red dot on the camera."

"So?"

"So? Cybercrime forensics is much more sophisticated now, as our computers and technology in the 2050s. As a cop, I know how cybercrime investigations and forensics work. Not only that, but I have access to many features that allow me to detect when I'm being hacked on my computer. That single flash of red dot told me that someone was watching me. Don't tell this to everything... not like you can... but there are other electronics with hidden cameras that have been installed but the only way to access them is through the code of the Prime Minister and since the Prime Minster is on Kira's side, especially after the Hydra incident, it is extremely unlike the PM is behind this. I can't take any chances in case this is the Kira investigation, therefore... I gotta make sure I look the part and I'm just hoping whoever is watching me is distracted by my sexiness."

She bites down on her tongue, drawing blood, and uses her finger to scoop small droplets up. She quickly writes a name down before turning the piece of paper over. She writes two more names on the back before putting the paper in her mouth and swallowing it. "I hope Sei's not into French kissing."

"I can't stand this anymore. You know what I'm going to do? I'm going to go out there and see if there are any other of these electronics that are peeping on you."

After about ten minutes, she drains the water before stepping out. She quickly climbs out of the tub and tosses her robe on.

She dries herself while keeping her robe on before heading to her bedroom. She pulls out several articles of clothing and lays them flat on the bed.

A few minutes later, the doorbell rings and Rain goes to answer it.

She opens the door for Sei as he holds out a bouquet of roses. "As Rain as Roses."

Rain takes the flowers and smells them deeply. "Always a poet, Sei...fy." She sighs heavily before grabbing him and pulling him in. She shuts the door behind him before putting her arms around him.

"Rain, I-"

She kisses him as they walk down the hallway, stopping only so she can drop the flowers in a vase of water. "No words, Sei, just actions."

Rain continues to kiss him before dragging him to the couch.

Gintik Hagmay appears before her. "Okay, okay, I found more electronics and I found the cameras in them. The smoke detector, the TV, and the microwave. They all had a red light that was on. It's not like the security feature on your computer with the single flash but it's still something. So you are being peeped on so your best choice right now is to act natural."

She grabs his leather jacket by the back and digs her nails into it. With a blank look on her face, she pushes him off of her.

The Shinigami laughs again. "Ahh, the jacket."

She sits up and carefully removes his jacket. She holds it with one hand holding the back and her other hand holding it from the inside.

"In my room, you'll find a surprise in there for you..."

Sei kisses the back of her hand. "I can't wait."

Sei heads inside the master bedroom while Rain stays behind and makes sure that the inside of her jacket is out of view from any electronics.

With her hand on the inside of his jacket, she reaches for the spot just under the armpit. She reaches into the tiny hole and pulls out the hidden needle and pricks her finger. With her index finger dripping blood, she uses her middle finger to look for the Death Note piece she left in his jacket.

Gintik Hagmay laughs behind her. "You sewn that jacket with a Death Note scrap of paper inside... I'll never forget that."

She quickly writes a name down before throwing the Death Note scrap and needle back into the tear.

She drops the jacket down on the chair before heading into the master bedroom. She stands before Sei, who holds the articles of clothing Rain laid out on the bed from earlier.

Rain drops her robe once more before stepping towards Sei. "Ready to let it rain?"

China

Number 13 sips the liquid from his beer bottle as he stares at the computer. He switches to another console before taking another sip of his liquid. "Humans."

He pulls up 888 on his computer.

"Hey there, 888, looks like Rain Yagami is clear from now on. But, do keep an eye out on her because, well... she's still on my list. Honestly, there is no way possible that Rain is as emotionless as a robot as I am so keep an eye on her please."

Number 13 switches to another console where he spies on another devoted Kira follower.

"Also, uh, continue through with our archive plan."

"Yes."

February 23rd

Pulling up to the police station, Rain parks her car before heading inside. She makes her way through security before heading into the main room. She stops and looks around to see several IT technicians around.

She grabs Saiko as the officer passes her. "What's going on?"

Saiko laughs. "Oh, yeah, we're not exactly sure but the computers are acting a little buggy today. We got archive working doubles because we gotta re-enter all our data into the computer and the captain is telling us to re-tenter all data from 2006."

"Fifty years."

"Yep. It's going to take a long time but... the captain said that we'll be working doubles so that means double pay."

"Re-entering data, huh."

"I'd suggest getting a headstart if I were you, Rain. I know it's something above you but still."

Narrowing her eyes, she heads to her cubicle and logs into her computer.

A message appears on her computer: 'Data Corruption Detected'

Gintik Hagmay laughs under his breath. "This is very interesting. Yesterday, you were being peeped on and now, there's some kind of data corruption on your computer. If I didn't know any better, Rainy, I'd say this is all connected."

Rain holds her head up before looking around and sees that almost every computer in the room has the same data corruption method. "Interesting."
