Chapter 1: History of a Fishy Family

From the prologue, the next 4-5 years had passed, since then. And we currently find ourselves in the chambers of the current Green Pearl Princess in the North Atlantic Mermaid Kingdom, with the princess lying in her bed.

"Can I have the room. Alone with my closest friends and my advisors." Said the princess, causing everyone to leave her room. Except for her friends and her advisors. Who were beginning to crowd around her bed, in case these were going to be her last words.

"I've received a vision from the Goddess of the Seas." Said the mermaid. "Once I die. I want my closest friend to take my pearl, not to the fountain. But you must go to the nation of Japan instead. Which is in the human world." Pausing as she let out a few coughs. "Because the princess, who will follow, after me. Has already been born and she and her son. Come from a marriage of human and mermaid, from the 21st century." Letting out a few more coughs. "My pearl will act as a compass to find them." Before the last of her strength gave out and she passed away.

From there they began making plans for the princess's funeral. Which took about 2 weeks for them to plan and have. So, that everyone can pay their respects to the princess.

Before the friend of the princess was able to depart for Japan, to find the next princess and her son. Taking the former princess's green pearl with her.

Around a month, after the death of the now former green pearl princess. We currently find Inko doing some chores around her and Izuku's apartment. Being careful enough not to get her neckless wet. So, she wouldn't change into a mermaid.

Then she thought back to what happened a month ago.

(Flashback)

We currently find a depressed Inko getting into her bed. Still blaming herself for not being able to give Izuku a quirk.

Once she was asleep. Her great-grandmother's necklace started playing a mysterious melody, from out of nowhere.

The next thing, Inko knew. She was waking up in a void of some sort. Then Inko looked down and saw that she was wearing a light green seashell bra and her legs had been replaced with a green fishtail. With 2 green gem-like bracelets on her left wrist and at the end of her tail, before her fin. And a green armband on her upper arm. With her hair still styled, in the same bun. She always had it in.

Causing her to panic and before quickly going back to looking around, wherever she was currently floating. She was not only scared, but confused as well.

As she continued, looking around confused and wondering, why she was there. Before Lucia suddenly appeared, before her.

"I'm so glad, that I can meet you. After all these years." Said Lucia, after she suddenly appeared before Inko. "Oh. And it looks like you inherited your great umpteenth time over grandma's tail color."

"Who are you? Where are I? Why am I here?" Asked Inko. "And why did you say, That I had my great grandma's tail color?" Getting a little suspicious about the part, about the tail color.

"Well to answer, your questions in order." Said Lucia, from where she was floating. "My Aqua Lucia, formally known as Lucia Nanami. I've ascended to the position of goddess of the 7 seas, around the dawn of the 21st century. Along with being the former Pink Pearl Princess of the North Pacific Ocean. Second, you are currently floating in the void spiritually. And no, you're not dead." Before Inko let out a quick sigh on that last 1, knowing that she wasn't dead. "Third, you're here for a very important reason. That I'll explain to you shortly. And for your fourth and final question. When I said, that you inherited your great-grandmother's tail color. Is that she had the exact same shade of green for her tail. And this is part of the reason, I called you here. And it has something to do, with your great-grandmother." Which caused Inko to ask even more questions, about what was going on. As Lucia conjured up a few chairs for them to sit at.

After they had sat down on the chairs. "First off, let me explain about who your great-grandmother is." Said Lucia. From there Lucia began explaining Rina's life. Which surprised Inko, that her great-grandmother was not only a mermaid but a princess as well. And that she was a hero, that had saved the 7 seas 3 times in her life. Along with marrying a human named Masahiro Hamasaki. Who was Inko's great-grandfather. Along with having a few children. During this, Lucia had conjured up a table, with some food and drinks for them.

"Now, I've finished explaining your great-grandmother's life. Let me explain the reason, why I've brought you here." Said Lucia, as she took a sip of her drink. "Normally in the cycle for the princess of each of the 7 seas. When the previous one dies, a new 1 is born to take the place of the previous princess." Pausing a bit to think on how to put her words. "However, when I was watching you hold Izuku in your hands. When he was born. My gut told me to look into his future. What I saw, was that the next 9-10 years were going to be the hardest years of his life." Which made Inko feel even worse, about Izuku being Quirkless.

"Of course. I couldn't stand by and allow a descendant of 1 of my closest friends. To be treated as if they were subhuman." Lucia added. "So, I decided to intervene, in this and hold off on the birth of the next Green Pearl Princess. Because I want you, Inko to become the next Green Pearl Princess. While Izuku will become your successor, the Green Pearl Prince." Surprising Inko and Izuku, about the sudden offer.

"I know, you have many questions about why I'm doing this. And again, I want to give a descendant of 1 of my friends, a fighting chance." Said Lucia, as Inko felt touched, that someone out there was watching out for them.

"So, what's in it for me? If I do take the position of the next Green Pearl Princess?" Asked Inko, as she became curious about the position, that was being asked of her.

"Well...you would become the ruler of the North Atlantic Ocean and all of the mermaids in that area of the ocean." Said Lucia, as she thought on it. "But you'll also have except the duty. That should the 7 seas ever fall into disarray, you must play your part in protecting them as well. Along with your son, when he succeeds you." As Inko thought about Lucia's words.

"You 2 will also gain an idol form and a mic. That will appear when you use your pearls." Said Lucia. "Also, you can probably pass off, being merfolk as a Quirk. And if anyone mentions about turning into seafoam. Tell them I abolished, that old rule. When Quirks started appearing. So, it's safe to reveal your secret to others. As long as your quiet about being the princess of 1 of the 7 seas. Unless it's someone you can trust. Since I could never figure out, if the sea foam thing, was true or not." Before Lucia noticed, Inko's face. "Are you, okay? Inko."

"I'm fine. But, it's just a lot to take in." Said Inko, feeling a little overwhelmed. "Also, can I have some time to think about my answer? Before I give you my answer." Asked Inko, trying to be reserved about the idea of her about taking the position. While trying to keep her head together. Thanks to the information, that was dropped on her.

"Certainly. I will allow you a few days to think on it." Said Lucia. "Though if I were you. I would do some research on how Quirkless are treated in public." Getting a nod, from Inko. As Lucia sent them and waited a few days to call them back for Inko's answer.

When Inko woke up. She thought, that the whole thing was a dream. But, over the next few days. Inko's gut told her to do some research on, how Quirklesswere treated and was mortified by what she read online.

Until a few days later. After Inko and Izuku had gone to bed. The necklace once again began playing a melody. Causing Inko to reappear in front of Lucia. In her mermaid form.

"So, Inko? Have you made your decision on my offer?" Asked Lucia, as she floated in front of them.

"I have and I'll accept your offer." Said Inko, with determination in her voice. "Especially after doing some research, I did. On how Japan treats those, that are Quirkless."

"Very well." Said Lucia, with a smile on her face. "Because of your choice. Izuku will have the positive emotional support, he will need to prevent certain thoughts from happening. Due to bullying." Said Lucia. But in her mind, she was trying her best not to put pressure on Inko for her to take the position. Since it was vital for Inko to take the position, as the Green Pearl Princess. Though Lucia couldn't shake the feeling, that Izuku was going to be a handful. "Now, I have to do 1 more thing. And that's to give you 2 your necklaces." Lucia added as she used her staff, to cause 2 identical Pearl Tear necklaces to appear around their necks.

Meanwhile, in the real world, Rina's Pearl Tear necklace floated up from Inko's jewelry box. Before it made a copy of itself. One went over went to Inko. The other went to Izuku.

"Oh! And before I send you back. Expect the arrival of a few mermaids. Who will have the Green Pearl." Said Lucia, to Inko. "From there, I might be able to split the pearl. So that both you and Izuku may have 1. If I cannot create a duplicate of the pearl. Then you will need to pass the pearl on to Izuku." Said Lucia, with a voice of uncertainty, about being able to divide the pearl.

"Well, either way. All I can say is do your best." Said Inko, as she got a nod from Lucia.

"Thank you, Inko." Said Lucia, as she stood up and grabbed her. "See you, soon enough. Oh, and be mindful of water and getting wet. When you're wearing your Pearl Tear necklace or you'll turn into a mermaid." As Inko began fading from the plain.

When Inko woke up from her dream. But the moment, she brought her left hand to her head. Where she noticed, that sitting on her wrist, were the exact same jeweled bracelets, That she had when she was in her mermaid form. Followed by Inko turning on her lamp. After she had turned on her lamp. Inko quickly lifted the covers. Where she was greeted, by having her legs replaced with the exact same green fish tail, that she had in her dream. As she brought her hands up to check for 1 more thing. And that was to feel for her new Pearl Tear necklace. Where she found the necklace around her neck. Making her fully realize, that it wasn't a dream.

Finally, a thought hit her, that made her realize. "Maybe. I should explain, everything tomorrow. That will be happening to us." Thought Inko. Before there was a flash of light, as her new mermaid tail turned back into legs, with clothes returning too. Before deciding to go back to sleep.

The next day, thankfully was a day, that Inko and Izuku could spend some time together. That she and Izuku were home together. She was also thankful for Lucia giving Izuku, the exact same necklace as her well.

First during the explanation, Inko got wet and turned into her mermaid form. Which surprised Izuku a lot. Then she proceeded to explain to Izuku, about their family's lineage to him. Along with explaining to him, that Lucia a friend of their great-grandmother Rina Toin. Decided to intervene and give him a chance at being a hero. But, she'll need to take up the throne of the North Atlantic Mermaid Kingdom in exchange. Then have him succeed her for the throne. Which surprised him. Then Izuku asked, Inko. If the same thing had happened to him. Which Inko nodded, and proceeded to splash Izuku's necklace with some water. Followed by him turning into a merman. Much to both of Izuku's amazement and amusement. Finally, Inko told him, that they'll be expecting a few mermaids to show up in the future. Which he understood.

Then Inko thought over the past few weeks, after what had happened to them. And it was very interesting for the 2 of them. Not only did they have to be careful around water. But adapting to have baths, whenever they transformed. While taking a bath or shower was an interesting experience. Along with a few other things as well.

Inko continued reminiscing about the past few weeks until she a knock at the apartment's front door. Where she went to answer it. Only to be greeted by a mysterious women, holding a green pearl. Which was shimmering brightly. But not brightly enough to alert, those who would notice it.

"Are you from the North Atlantic Mermaid Kingdom?" Asked Inko, getting a nod from them. "Then come right on in. So, that we can talk." Getting a nod, from the mysterious woman. Before they made their way inside. So, that they could talk inside, about what they wanted to do.

Yes, I'm focusing on Inko for a few chapters. Before I switch to Izuku. But I'm setting things up for down the road. So, I can pass it on to Izuku, when the time is right.

In fact, I have some plans in the future. Involving some of the characters from MHA in the fanfic. Because some you will not be expecting to be princesses.
