The next day
Pov Izuku
I had today intended for a meeting with the big three. But that grubby rat was asking for me to give Fenley a tour.
As if I didn't have other things to do. When we got to the cafeteria, I realized he hadn't told anyone about it after hearing his classmates' questions.
But I have to hang in there.
Izuku: It's a cheerleading class. It's also called the workshop because there's not much difference.
I opened the door for her with the playful image of a gentleman.
Izuku: ladies first.
She entered the workshop with a giggle and I closed the door behind us.
Just then I noticed a few students acting weird and looking at Mei.
Izuku: (apparently noticing a change in her.)
I walked over to the all hands girl and patted her shoulder when I noticed that she was only tapping on the metal.
Mei: what do you want from me- oh, Izuku!
She tossed the hammer aside and raised her glasses.
Izuku: I am now as a guide for our special guest.
I caught a glimpse of Fenley and pointed at her.
Izuku: she's almost like me. There's going to be a special meeting today.
Mei held her gaze for a few seconds and nodded to me.
Mei: okay, I see now. So what exactly do you need?
She got the hang of it quickly.
Izuku: I'm going to need some... shoes with kinetic energy storage.
I secretly gave her one special stone.
Izuku: your skill will be better developed if you start working with them right away.
After saying that, I led Fenli out of the workshop classroom.
A few hours later
I was able to calmly return to the classroom without looking at our teacher's gaze. Then everything went according to plan.
We fought Togata-sempai and so after the battle, I asked him for a favor about interning with Nighteye.
If everything goes right, I'll finally take off my mask.
But right now, I was leading Fenley to our secret hideout in the forest and Mei and Hitoshi were waiting for us.
Izuku: how do you guys manage to get here before me?
Hitoshi: our leader is Mick.
Mei: my teacher is always happy to let me go early on the pretext of resting.
I let out a heavy sigh and introduced them to Fenley.
Izuku: okay, this is Fenli. She knows about Catastrophe like me because of her skill. But it only transfers a small part of the knowledge to her.
She waved her hand at them and that's when I noticed Mei working on something, drawing on a sheet and gathering materials. And she even kept my stone.
Izuku: is that exactly what I think it is, Mei?
Mei: oh yeah. By nightfall, you'll be able to kick your legs with more power.
Fenley: wait, that's the stone of accumulated damage! Where did you get it from?!
Hitoshi: at this time, Izuku has more to do with survival training.
I jokingly showed her two volumes.
Izuku: their completed training gives me a reward. I have a quarter mastered in cooking and some needlework.
Fenley: but that could make disaster-.
I immediately shut her mouth in front of them.
Izuku: I'll be fucking ready for it. Mei already has an open skill and I'm going to help Hitoshi with that.
I made her sit on a log and we formed a square.
Izuku: the reason I called you in so urgently is because we will soon have to leave this school.
Now I should have expected absolute shock on their faces.
Izuku: The reason for that will be one thing. I must not miss anything on the time loop and so your training will be taken over by Fenli.
Fenley: oh, you're always so productive aren't you?
Damn it. As long as she doesn't say anything to them.
And then Hitoshi's hand raised.
Hitoshi: what's your relationship?
Oh, for fuck's sake.
Fenley: oh, well Izuku and I became friends with benefits after we first met.
I've already caught myself looking at them weirdly at me.
Izuku: I was already 17 at the time! Stress continued to build up in me from that day like everyone else. We... let's just say we helped each other release it in some ways.
Hitoshi's mouth opened, but Mei's face turned red for her reaction. Plus, there was steam coming out of her head.
Izuku: you better not judge me. Besides, Fenli has her own ability: Knowledge from the future. She can transfer knowledge from the present to the past...
Now that they're paying attention to her, I've realized something too.
Izuku: ... so that's what you've been doing since that day, besides doing your research. I thought you couldn't transfer knowledge back more than a year. And that the rollback goes back a couple months.
Fenley: Exactly. But future selves kept passing on knowledge of the future until it stopped at me. И... uggh, how much pain it brought to my head.
I gently stroked her hair. The girl was clearly experiencing a power backlash from transferring knowledge for a year.
It must have been her way of guessing the attacks on us for a few minutes. Or she was hiding her flaw as under Threat Sense.
Izuku: You're a sly fox after all. You managed to hide the truth of your power from us for a long time. But the wheel of luck won't smile on you a second time.
Mei: what does that mean?
Fenley: my ability was just a lucky prize. And since Izuku changes the course of events even before the Catastrophe, it might not fall to me.
I rolled my eyes at that and went to gather us some food.
Thank goodness I got an ice stone, which Mei used to create a nice big cooler for the dishes.
Hitoshi: I still don't understand something. You're always telling us that the Catastrophe brings further misfortune to our world. But how exactly? Why did it start? What is the...
Izuku/Fenley: what is the nature of the creation of the Catastrophe?
Hitoshi nodded and I looked sadly at my feet.
After all, that answer might break their spirit. Even Fenli didn't know much about it.
No face
Fenli: we know nothing about it from our own knowledge. Only from the survivors.
Her words caused both of them to feel misunderstood and they immediately looked to Izuku for an answer.
Izuku: I thought that question would be left for sometime later...
He threw back the ingredients and sat back down in his seat to begin his story.
Izuku: I learned this from a very ancient man. About how it all happened after the supreme being created his personal world, which is inhabited by his creatures. Creatures with a sense of heartlessness and full of malicious greed.
They began to visualize this and Mei and Hitoshi were beginning to shiver.
Izuku: but that wasn't enough for him. He wanted to see more than battles for the survival of his creatures. So he decided to merge one of the worlds with... The Abyss. A place where monsters endlessly appear... a phenomenon that would come to be known as...
Catastrophe.
A long silence lasted between the four teenagers until Izuku looked up.
Izuku: but Catastrophe has its own little upside... very... very small plus. The whole world goes into a slow unification with the Abyss first. This takes two months because the Abyss has already absorbed the previous world and needs time. This stage acts as a learning experience.
Fenli's hand pressed to her mouth as she suddenly realized something.
Izuku: so if there were dangerous monsters in the other world before ours, they will become part of the vast legion from the Abyss...
He began to draw some sort of figure on the ground with a branch.
Izuku: But here's what's worse, Fenley. We've never been able to meet the creature's minions themselves. Servants of the Apocalypse.
The two looked at the clown figure with bewilderment, but Fenley only shook harder.
Izuku: they work as jesters for their lord and cause disasters. There are only legends about them. That time does not work on them. That their power is so powerful... but it's a lie.
He wiped that clown's face and stomped on it a few times.
Izuku: I was able to recognize them before I died. And... damn it...
He destroyed the boulder with a sudden fury with a punch of his fist.
Izuku: we're all just props to them, and our worlds are like a stage for their god's entertainment! They don't even see us as a threat!
A shiver of despair ran through their bodies at this revelation. Mei clutched his head with his hands. Hitoshi stared at the sky with a blank stare.
And Fenli looked at Izuka with sadness.
Fenli: so that's why...
Hitoshi turned his attention to her.
Hitoshi: did you recognize something?
Fenli: yes. Before I came here, I tried to find our comrades. But even in the databases, they don't exist.
Izuku was rubbing his arm after a hard blow and glimpsed at her.
Izuku: When I said you might be able to go back in time before the Catastrophe, they didn't want you to get so desperate. That's why they kept it quiet for me too, because you were the one who unlocked my power.
Fenley began to shed tears at the realization of her own mistake.
Fenli: b-but our key to salvation... why couldn't you?
He rubbed the back of his head with his hand in response.
Izuku: I have no idea myself. It seemed like everything would work and consciousness with experience would send me back in time.
Fenley: no... ugh!
The girl started grabbing her head with a weak scream and Mei started supporting her.
Izuku: hold her!
Fenli was pinned to the ground and Mei held her waist while Hitoshi took over her shoulders and Izuku her legs.
Hitoshi: what's wrong with her!
Izuku: don't know right now! But this is a very serious sign!
After a couple minutes, more tears appeared in Fenli's eyes and her face expressed fear.
Fenli: t-three days...
Izuku pushed them farther away and pressed his ear closer to her lips.
Fenli: we only have three days until the Catastrophe...
When he repeated those words out loud, everyone's eyes widened and held their bodies.
