Chapter 32: A Not Date
Year: 2018
Location: Pendragon
Inside the hangar in Pendragon, pilots were carrying items around while the others were preparing their Knightmare frames.
"The unit from the Steiner Concern Factory has arrived!"A Camelot Engineer informed."Hurry up!"
"Hurry it up with the Hangar Ten Check, would you?!"A second Camelot Engineer demanded."We're getting equipment delivered!"
Adeline went to visit Suzaku, who came down the Lancelot.
The Rossellini heiress wore a pale yellow dress with a black choker and red Mary Jane shoes. Her long light lavender hair was loose with the flanks held in twin tails by her red two distinct nodes.
"Ciao!"
Suzaku cringed as he heard Adeline's voice.
"Buongiorno, Suzaku."Adeline greeted.
An anxious smile appeared on Suzaku's face as he turned around to look at Adeline.
"B-Buongiorno."Suzaku answered.
"Aw. Why so gloomy? I am one of the most popular female Knights of the Round."Adeline remarked and then frowned."You should appreciate your good fortune."
Adeline smirked as she flicked Suzaku's forehead, making him flinch a bit.
Then Cécile and Lloyd showed up, earning the two Knights of the Rounds' attention.
"Hey, Miss Croomy and Earl Asplund."Adeline greeted brightly as she placed her arm around Suzaku's."Kururugi wants to hang out with me for the rest of the day. Is that okay?"
"I never said-"Suzaku started.
Cécile simply smiled at Adeline's declaration.
"That's good idea."Cécile agreed."You two are still young. You both should enjoy some time off."
"Just be sure to bring him back not so late."Lloyd instructed.
"Sure."Adeline remarked and began dragging Suzaku away."Come on, silly. Let's get some fresh air."
Suzaku sent Cécile and Lloyd a pleading look as Adeline dragged him away from them.
"It's nice that Suzaku is trying to make friends with the Knights of the Round."Cécile remarked in approval.
"But Lady Adeline Rossellini is known be aggressive and can be very opinionated."Lloyd informed with a smirk."But hopefully, Kururugi will survive that."
As he was being dragged out of the Camelot's Hangar, Suzaku couldn't help but be curious on where Adeline was taking him.
"Since you have nothing going on today, I would be glad to have a fellow pilot join me at the amusement park."Adeline said happily.
"Well, actually."Suzaku spoke up sheepishly, scratching the back of his neck."I already have a-"
Adeline covered Suzaku's mouth with a finger.
"Shh."Adeline whispered.
Adeline deftly grabbed Suzaku's wrist and started pulling him out of the door.
The two Knights of the Round headed towards the elevators, the door to the hangar sealing behind them.
"And remember, it's not a date."Adeline instructed."It's just two Knights of the Round having a fun day out."
"But, what about breakfast?"Suzaku asked.
"We'll pick something up on the way there."Adeline assured casually."Any more questions, idiot?"
Suzaku wisely kept his mouth shut as he and Adeline entered the elevator, the door closing behind them.
It took a 30 minute long train ride, but eventually they reached the amusement park located in Saint Darwin Street.
The day was nice and clear.
The wind kept the constant spring heat at a reasonable temperature.
It was a decent sized venue for a pop up and it even had two rollercoasters and a Ferris wheel.
Adeline took Suzaku's hand and cheerfully headed from the bus to the gate of the park.
She handed the two tickets to the employee and they both entered the park.
"Come on you, delusional idiot."Adeline insisted with a smirk."You can win me a prize, if you're capable of such a simple task."
"Wouldn't that make this a date?"Suzaku asked.
A small scowl escaped from Adeline's mouth.
"Of course not, stupido."Adeline retorted."But if it helps, you may think of this as a practice date."
"Why would I need to practice for a date?"Suzaku questioned.
"Since you clearly didn't go out with a girl or even kiss one, you don't really seem one with experience."Adeline complemented, making Suzaku blush a bit in embarrassment."How can you since you've been wasting your time studying and doing military work?"
Suzaku was handed some rings to use and told to land them on the red or blue bottles in order to win a prize.
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
Suzaku picked up a ring, feeling its weight and cocked his arm back.
He focused, the determination growing and threw the ring towards the bottles.
It bounced and bounced on the bottles, barely settling on one of the red bottles.
"It turns out he was capable after all."Adeline thought in amusement.
Adeline was so deep in thought that she didn't see Suzaku getting closer until his hand was on her shoulder.
"Adeline, which prize do you want?"Suzaku asked.
The Rossellini heiress snapped out of thoughts and pointed at a random plush toy.
"The cute green octopus."Adeline answered.
The rest of the day was just as exciting for the two Knights of the Round.
They went on one of the rollercoasters and Adeline was sure glad she wore shorts.
The bumper cars were fun.
Adeline and Suzaku just targeted each other, leaving the ride chuckling at each other.
The Ferris wheel was a nice quiet ending to the day.
As they ate the sandwiches on the rooftop of a house, the duo saw a perfect view of the sunset.
Suzaku slowly munched on his shrimp cutlet sandwich while Adeline finished eating her pork cutlet sandwich in an aggressive way.
"Next time they should make their pork cutlet with miso sauce."Adeline retorted.
Suzaku glanced at Adeline with a surprised look.
"You like Japanese food?"Suzaku asked.
Adeline stood up from where she sat to open her small bottle of fruit beer.
The lavender haired girl took a sip of her beverage before responding to her friend.
"I had a step-mother that was Japanese."Adeline admitted with a small frown."At first, I was against the idea of having a mother since my own died after bringing me in the world. Though I later got used to her and she was pretty cool. But she tragically died when Britannia invaded Japan."
Suzaku became quiet knowing Adeline was talking about Mira Sumeragi; Rin's late mother.
"Sorry."Suzaku apologised.
"What about you, Kururugi?"Adeline questioned while staring at the sunset."What was your mother like?"
A small troubled look appeared on Suzaku's face.
"I don't really remember that much about my mother."Suzaku answered."She died when I was three years old."
"What was her name?"Adeline asked.
"Nadeshiko."Suzaku answered.
Adeline removed her bottle from her mouth.
"I heard in Japanese that means 'carnation flower'."Adeline complemented."Though I heard in your culture, the word Yamato Nadeshiko is used for a very beautiful and talented women."
Suzaku glanced at the sunset.
"I guess she was just that."Suzaku stated.
"You know it is stupid."Adeline declared.
Suzaku looked back at Adeline.
"Huh?"Suzaku asked in confusion.
"That you utterly think that my wretched uncle-in-law known as the Emperor would care about your ambitions just because he pampered you to become the Knight of Seven."Adeline retorted in disappointment and glanced back at the sunset."Want my advice if you to survive the rat nest in Pendragon, stupido? Don't get involve with people or situations that won't hesitate to stab you in the back. I may be the Knight of Eleven. But I know what is utterly right from what is utterly wrong. I am not one of those snobby rich heiresses you see walking around the homeland."
Adeline closed her eyes and took a few more sips of her fruit beer as Suzaku simply smiled at her.
He didn't know why, but he couldn't help admire how different Adeline was from all the girls he met in his lifetime.
Not just because she a cousin of Cornelia and Euphemia.
She wasn't the most open-hearted person he had ever met.
Though he couldn't actually help but fall in love with her a little bit.
See you all later and have a wonderful day!
