Chapter 43: The Announcement of Champions

The arena was alive with cheers and murmurs as the audience buzzed with excitement following the intense matches. The air was thick with anticipation as spectators eagerly awaited the announcement of the winners from the Chunin Exams.

As the dust settled and the injured competitors were tended to by medical staff, Hayate, the proctor, stepped forward, holding a scroll tightly in his hands. His expression was serious, but a hint of excitement danced in his eyes.

"Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for your patience," he announced, his voice clear and steady, cutting through the din of chatter. "Today, we witnessed incredible displays of skill, determination, and the spirit of a true shinobi. Each of our competitors fought bravely, and it is time to recognize those who have advanced to the next stage of the Chunin Exams."

The crowd quieted, leaning forward in their seats, eager to hear who would move on to the final round.

"First, let's announce the winners of the preliminary matches," Hayate continued, unrolling the scroll. "These individuals have demonstrated exceptional talent and perseverance throughout their battles."

As he began to read the names, cheers erupted from the audience with each announcement.

"From the match between Sasuke Uchiha and Yoroi Akadō—the victor is Sasuke Uchiha!"

Sasuke stood tall, his expression stoic yet proud. He received applause, but his focus remained on the battles ahead.

"Next, we have Sakura Haruno versus Ino Yamanaka—the winner is Sakura Haruno!"

Sakura beamed with joy, her heart racing as she waved to the crowd, catching Naruto's enthusiastic cheer from the stands.

"Shikamaru Nara defeated Kin Tsuchi in their match!" Hayate continued, and Shikamaru rubbed the back of his head, a sheepish smile on his face as he acknowledged the applause with a lazy wave.

"Naruto Uzumaki triumphed over Kiba Inuzuka!"

Naruto jumped up in excitement, fist-pumping the air. "I did it!" he shouted, earning a laugh and cheers from his teammates, especially from Sakura and Lee.

"Next, Neji Hyūga won against Hinata Hyūga."

A hush fell over the crowd at this announcement. Neji stood proudly, but a few concerned murmurs echoed, especially from Hinata's teammates, who worried about her well-being.

"And finally, Gaara of the Sand bested Rock Lee."

The crowd's reaction was mixed, some in awe of Gaara's cold dominance while others felt for Lee's valiant effort. Lee, despite his loss, wore a smile, proud of his performance and filled with the spirit of a true fighter.

As the announcement continued, Hayate added, "Tenten lost to Temari, but fought with incredible skill."

The audience acknowledged Tenten's effort, though she lay on a stretcher, having pushed herself to her limits in the fight against Temari.

"Kankuro defeated Misumi Tsurugi," Hayate announced, earning applause for the puppeteer who had showcased his mastery over his marionettes.

"Shino Aburame emerged victorious against Zaku Abumi," he continued, highlighting Shino's strategic use of his insects to dominate the fight.

"Chōji Akimichi was defeated by Dosu Kinuta, but he showed great courage and heart in the battle!"

Chōji took a deep breath, accepting the applause but feeling a mixture of pride and disappointment. He smiled at his teammates, appreciating their support.

"Those are our winners! They will advance to the next round of the Chunin Exams!" Hayate concluded, rolling up the scroll. The applause grew louder, resonating through the arena as the competitors embraced their victories, a mix of joy and relief washing over them.

As the cheers erupted, Kakashi watched proudly from the edge of the arena. He turned to Guy, a grin stretching across his face. "I have to say, I'm quite impressed. All my kids passed their matches! It seems my teachings are finally paying off."

Guy chuckled, "I'm proud of Lee's efforts, but your kids outdid themselves. Especially Naruto! He's quite the fighter."

"Of course! I mean, how could they not succeed with such a fantastic sensei?" Kakashi teased, pretending to strike a modest pose.

Meanwhile, Kurenai leaned toward Asuma and whispered, "Have you noticed how much happier Kakashi seems? He's practically glowing."

Asuma nodded, a thoughtful expression on his face. "Yeah, it's great to see him so proud. I think the connection he has with his team is changing him."

Kurenai smiled, "It's about time. He's been through so much, and it's good to see him take joy in their successes."

Guy overheard them and added, "It's the power of youth! Training those kids has made a real impact on him. Just look at that smile!"

Kakashi continued to beam with pride as he watched his students celebrating their victories. "You know, being a teacher has its perks. Watching them grow and succeed is the greatest reward."

As the atmosphere began to shift from intense competition to celebration, the teams gathered together, congratulating one another on their performances.

Sakura pulled Naruto and Sasuke into a tight embrace, her face alight with joy. "We all made it to the next round! I knew we could do it!"

"Yeah! We're gonna show everyone what we're made of!" Naruto exclaimed, brimming with enthusiasm.

Amid the celebration, Kurenai rushed to Hinata's side, concern etched on her face. "Hinata, are you alright?" she asked, kneeling beside her student.

Hinata nodded, though she still looked shaken. "I tried my best, Kurenai-sensei," she whispered, determination flickering in her eyes despite her physical exhaustion.

Kurenai smiled softly, wrapping an arm around Hinata's shoulders. "You did great, and I'm proud of you. You showed incredible strength out there."

As the arena continued to celebrate their victories, anticipation hung in the air, a promise of more challenges to come and the bonds that would only strengthen as they faced them together. The next phase of the Chunin Exams awaited, and Team 7 stood ready to tackle whatever lay ahead.
