Naruto, Son of the Heavenly Rabbit, will be a huge inspiration for this series. At least for part of the familial connection aspect.
The point of this chapter is balance, where Mason's GoodLuck ends.
Teleporting to Olympus with Artemis was terrifying for Mason and yet he could not help but drink in the devastating power of Artemis. A Stunningly powerful goddess who had absorbed Selene's duties, she had to be someone to fear, stronger than she was during the Trojan war he imagined. He wasn't sure Hera could kick her ass so easily as she had during the Trojan war.
Leo's hand in his kept him focused enough to not ask questions, at least until they appeared in the anger and power filled Throne Room of the Gods. The gods in question, all twenty feet tall and sitting on their thrones, looked at him in confusion and disgust. Bar Hepheastus, who smiled at them with a severe warmth. The air was charged, so much so that it gave Mason a migraine, just from the raw sensory overload.
"A witch and a demigod, why do you bring us such things here, Daughter? Especially after we just had our meeting not even an hour ago." Zeus, clearly the king with his black suit and beard and aura of terrifying power. "I detest witches, daughter, you know that." Most of the gods nodded in agreement.
Artemis stepped to the side, growing with each step until she was ten feet tall. "This boy has something rather interesting to report. My hunters, they sensed what they thought was my power, only to find this boy. It turns out that he managed to contact Selene, tapping into her and the Moon's essence."
They all turned to Mason, who looked on without fear. "It was not entirely intentional, I had no idea Selene was faded. Only after my patron told me did I know."
"Patron?" Zeus thundered.
"Ganymede."
And in a rush of power, faint and weak, the Cupbearer appeared. He was fearful and weak, but stood with his head held high. "Yes, he is my Champion. He could have belonged to Persephone or Demeter, he called out for guidance during the Spring Equinox, but I answered when no one else did."
Zeus looked hurt. "And you didn't tell me, Love?"
Mason wanted to stab the king of the gods or wretch as his bullshit, sensing the hate, fear and disgust in the god he came to care for. 'The pedo king hurt Ganymede so much, but can I ever really protect him?'
""
Ganymede barely managed to withhold his cringe. From the moment he met his friend, his Champion, he started to realize just how vile Zeus was. Seeing real respect changed him, and he couldn't really accept Zeus' actions so passively anymore.
But now was not the time for his rage or fear. Zeus had an ego, he needed to play to it.
"I wanted to show what I could do, without favor. I am not a fool, so many see me as a gold digger. I wanted to prove my worth as a god, and Mason's power as a witch. Without too much interference." He turned to Hephaestus. "He saved his son, Leo." He gestured to the quiet Leo, who nodded. Hera, for some reason, looked at the boy with pain and irritation. It was hard to tell with her though, she could have been constipated. "And Selene did ask for Mason to find her, and we will. With her power, even in part, we will return to the power that we have lost over the eons."
The gods all hummed, looking and nodding. Athena, queen bitch herself, nodded. "We have lost a great deal of power over the eons, it would be wise... Father."
And he knew that he succeeded with that, but everything came at a price.
Hera looked at them. "I do not trust this witch with Leo, not knowing he can use the power of Fire and has been attacked by Gaea. No, Leo needs to be at Camp, to have someone we trust keeping an eye on him less the boy grow too powerful to be contained."
Leo screamed. "NO! I won't leave him, Tia, you already ruined my life as a kid, I won't let you take more away."
Ganymede cringed, many gods looking especially wrathful, but Mason stopped it all by kneeling. "Kid, she is the queen. We do not have to agree, or care for her, but we have to listen..." He turned to the gods. "Can I at least visit Leo? I have come to love him as a brother, as my kin."
Hephaestus nodded. "The boy has saved my son, I won't have him harmed."
Zeus sighed, clearly knowing better than to piss of his wife or his step Son. "Leo, you will be sent to Camp Half blood immediately..." Leo cringed, tears in his eyes. "However, I will allow for Iris messages as you please and a visit every other month. You are to stay at Camp, bar summons, and learn to serve us as all demigods do." he turned to Mason. "You will search for Selene, and see her returned. Do this and I will consider not smiting you. I am already in a foul mood." He said, turning his gaze to Poseidon, who glared back.
Mason wisely bowed. "I will do my best." He looked at Leo once more, tears in their eyes. "Leo, we will be together again, but you need to be strong. Learn to fight, learn to craft, ready yourself to show me. I will bring you presents, okay?"
Sniffling, Leo buried his face in Mason's chest. "You promise?"
"Always... when must be part, Lord Zeus?"
The god in question sighed. "Immediately. My daughter will return you to her Camp, this will give you time to say goodbye. The boy will be at camp in three days, tops, or you will suffer dearly."
Ganymede gave his friend a good look, one filled with warning. Mason seemed to understand, this was an absolute truth. Zeus was a monster and his threats needed to be taken seriously. Mason needed to know this, beyond anything else, as skilled as he was Zeus would always be a threat.
Mason stood. "Thank you for your time, all of you..."
Artemis returned to a smaller size. "I will lead you to my Camp, but you cannot stay."
"Thank you..."
And then they were gone, in a flash of moonlight, leaving Ganymede with the gods. "I will see my self out."
"Come to my shrine, later." Zeus said, a threat clear in his voice.
"I will, my Lord." He almost gulped, but managed to mask his terror.
Barely...
