Yugi and the gang finally landed at JKF Airport. Their jetlag wasn't as bad, but they were still tired from the long travel. After gathering up their luggage and a quick stop at the airport gift shop, they left the airport. As soon as they step foot outside the airport, they couldn't believe the sight before them.
"Whoa!"
The tall building, the craziness of the city, everything was amazing. Even though they lived in a city back home, it was nothing compared to this.
"Now, this is a city." Tristan said.
"You said it." Joey replied.
"So, guys what do we do now?" Tea asked.
"Well, we don't have to be at the Eyrie Building for a few hours. Why don't we do a little sightseeing." Yugi suggested.
"Great idea, Yugi." Tristan said.
"Oh, that's reminds me." Tea quickly rummages through one of the gift bags looking for something. "Here it is." The guys gather around Tea to see what she pulled out from the bag.
"The gift shop owner told me to get this. It's a guidebook that has all the popular spots in New York to check out."
"Awesome, this will really come in handy." Yugi said.
"Yeah, Tea who knew shopping could save the day." Joey said. Tea smack Joey with the guidebook.
"What, it was a complaint." He exclaimed.
"All we need now is a Taxi." Tristan said.
"I got this, guys." Joey walks up to the street curb and quickly spotted one. He whistled to grab the driver's attention. "Yo Taxi!" Joey cheekily smiles as the taxi driver made his way over. Unfortunately, it also attracted the attention of several other taxis, causing massive traffic.
Joey nervously chuckled, "He-he well at least we got a taxi right. Let's get going." Joey quickly ran to the nearest taxi. The rest of the gang follow suit unaware that someone was watching them as they disappear into the street.
The mysterious teen emerges for the shadows. He was tall like Tristan and Joey with long white hair and brown devious eyes. A sinister smile plasters his face but what stood out the most was the necklace the teen possessed. It was a ring shape necklace with a flat pyramid shape in the middle. The outer ring contains five small rods surrounding the ring. In the middle of the pyramid was the eye of Anubis just like Yugi's Millennium Puzzle.
'Enjoy your little sightseeing while you can, for soon I'll have what belongs to me.' His smile grew bigger, 'But first I think it's time I pay a little visit to a certain gargoyle.' He made his way to one of the many taxis still huddled around.
"Where to?" The driver asks.
"Nightstone Unlimited Building." The driver acknowledges the destination and makes his way to Manhattan.
Meanwhile, Elisa and Matt were at Xanatos' building, finalizing the security protocols for today's event. They went through everything the day before, so this was just a formality. The duel event itself would not start for a few more days, but Xanatos would be hosting parties, autograph sign-in with the duelists, and other fun activities to help raise money. After checking, rechecking, and checking everything again, briefing the security staff, Elisa and Matt felt confident.
"You two are early." Xanatos said as he and his assistant Owen walking down the main hall. "At least earlier than expected."
"Well, we wanted to double check everything before tonight." Matt said, "Just want to make sure things run smoothly as possible."
"Well, with you two in charge I know there's nothing to worry about."
"Thanks for the vote of confidents." Elisa said with a smirk.
Xanatos smirk in return "Of course." Elisa rolled her eyes in amusement. Suddenly, Elisa's stomach began to growl, loudly.
Matt chuckled, "Somebody's hungry."
Elisa embarrassedly blushes as she glares at him, "I overslept and didn't have time to eat, sue me."
"Why don't I treat you both with lunch. It's the least I can do."
"Thank Xanatos but you've done enough in my book." Matt said, "I mean giving us all access pass to the event I couldn't ask for anymore." Matt said.
"You're too kind, Matt."
Elisa crosses her arms in front of her and smirk, "A little too kind, considering the fact that tickets were sold out months beforehand."
Matt nervously laughs, "He-he yeah well…. I'm still grateful regardless." All three of them couldn't help but laugh.
Owen look at his watch and spoke, "Mr. Xanatos, I hate to interrupt this laugh fest, but we have other matters to attend too."
"Of course, see you both later on tonight." Owen and Xanatos began to walk away but Xanatos paused for a moment.
"By the way, Elisa, I hope you've given some thought about what I said last night. Do what you think is right." With that, Xanatos and Owen made their leave.
"You think Ms. Maza will heed your advice?" Owen questioned.
"I'm sure Elisa will do what she believes is right." Xanatos said as they continue to walk down the long hallway.
Matt looks confuse, "What was that about?
Elisa kept quiet, thinking about last night. Matt looks at her with some concern. "Elisa, did something happen last night, between the two of you."
"No...we just talked that's all."She said quietly.
"Thats it?" Elisa nodded silently.
Matt could see there was more to the conversation than Elisa led on. Matt gently placed his hand onto her shoulder.
"I'm not gonna push you into telling me, Elisa. Whatever the conversation you had with Xanatos is between the two of you." He gently squeezes her shoulder, "You can tell me when you're ready."
Elisa was touched by Matt's kindness and understanding, "Thanks Matt. I appreciate you." She pulls him into a hug. They embrace for a few moments before the noise of Elisa stomach caught their attention. A tint of pink ran across her face from embarrassment.
Matt couldn't help but be amused, "Come on let's feed you, my treat."
"Where are we going?" She asked.
"Why don't we go to Prova Pizzabar and then we can hit Milk Bar Bakery for dessert."
Elisa smile, "I like that idea, let's go." They headed to the Pizzabar, which was a few blocks away from the building. The place was pack since it was lunch time but somehow Matt was able to snag a table while Elisa was ordering the food. The two ate and enjoy their afternoon. It was rare for the two of them to just relax, even if it was for a short amount of time. Matt was talking about the different duelist arriving for the event. Elisa shook her head with amusement, hearing the excitement in his voice as he talks about them. After some more though, Matt couldn't help but think about what Xanatos said earlier.
'What did he mean what he said earlier? What decision does Elisa need to think about?'The more he thought, the more questions came popping up. He wanted to ask it, but he made a promise not to bring it up, until she did. So, all he could do is let the questions run ramp it in his finished their pizza and headed out the door.
"So, you ready for some dessert?" Matt asks.
"You know it." Elisa said, "It's been so long since I got something from Milk Bar." They head towards the bakery, eagerly excited to see what goodies they have.
A few blocks away, Yugi and his friends just finished eating at a burger joint after doing some sightseeing.
Joey stretches after eating three burgers and two large fries, "Man, those were some good burgers."
"You can say that again." Tristan said.
"So, guys where to next?" Tea asks.
"Dessert!" Joey and Tristan excitedly shouted.
Tea shook her head, "Why am I not surprise?"
Dessert does sound pretty good right about now. Is there any dessert places around here?" Yugi asks.
Tea pulled out her guidebook, "Let's see, desserts…. desserts…. ah here's one it's called Milk Bar Bakery and it's only a few blocks away."
"All right, let's go." Joey and Tristan ran towards what they think is the direction to the bakery.
"Wait guys, you don't even know where it is!" Yugi shouted as he tries to catch up with is friends.
Tea sighs, "I need some female friends." She quickly ran towards the others, hoping to stop them before they get lost.
Crossing paths with destiny is closer than some people think. This will be apparent for both Elisa and Yugi as their paths cross, unaware of the danger that lays ahead.
