Chapter 10:Family Time

Lucy sat on the bed watching her mother humming happily. "What dress do you want to wear to church Lego, the pink one with ribbons or the light blue dress?" Samantha asked holding them up. "The light blue dress mommy, I want to look like you today." Lucy said making her mother smile. "Light blue one it is then. Do you want your sun hat too?" Samantha asked already knowing the answer. "Yes mommy, we're going to be twins today." She said enthusiastically.

"Dad, why do we dress up for church when other people don't?" JJ asked standing in front of his mother's full length mirror. Jack picked up his sons tie straightening it out. "Jesus doesn't have a dress code son. However we dress up as a sign of respect for it's his house." Jack answered getting the tie ready. "I thought we dressed up because mom said we had too." JJ replied watching his father. "That too son, turn around JJ so I can put your tie on." He did as his father said watching intently as Jack put the tie on. JJ wanted to learn to do it himself but there wasn't enough time this morning. "There we go JJ, here's your suit jacket and Transformers tie pin." Jack said looking his son over. "O'Neill, JJ O'Neill is my name." JJ said trying to look serious in front of the mirror. Jack laughed as his son had recently discovered the James Bond movies. "Let's go see if your sister and Mom are ready." Jack said looking at his watch showing 0947hrs. "What's that in your hand Dad?" JJ asked noticing a smallish box. "Oh, just something I gave your mom before we were married." He answered pushing his son out the bedroom door.

"…are you ready for your earrings and necklace?" Samantha said going to Lucy's jewelry box."I've been waiting my whole life for this…" Lucy said eyeing the necklace and earrings. "A whole 6 years Lego, that's a long time." Samantha replied smiling. Lucy watched as her mother sat by her putting on the necklace followed by the earrings. "You look beautiful Lego, just like me." She said picking her up. "Where's your jewels mommy?" Lucy asked while holding loosely. "Your right, I forgot to put mine on, silly me." Samantha replied kissing her daughters cheek.

A knock on the door frame got their attention. "…Hello my lovely ladies, are we ready yet?" Jack asked noticing Lucy's birthday gift from her mother. "Look daddy, I'm pretty just like mommy. But mommy forgot her jewels." Lucy stated as a matter of fact. "I see, silly mommy. She can't go to church without her jewels now, can she?" He asked getting a gleam in his eyes. Samantha locked eyes with her husband. Having a short non-verbal conversation she put Lucy down then walked over to Jack. "Turn around my beautiful wife and close your eyes." Jack said earning a quick kiss on the cheek. Wondering what Jack had in mind she waited to be surprised. Samantha felt a necklace being placed around her neck, which one she didn't know. "You can open your eyes now." Jack said waiting to see her response. Samantha looked at her neckline seeing her favorite piece of jewelry, the Conch Sharp Oval Blue Necklace (A/N1) that Jack gave her on their first date. Tears welled up in her eyes as she gazed at it luster. "Jack, this is lovely as the day you gave it to me. Thank you again." She replied giving him a passionate kiss forgetting about their kids. "Mommy is kissing daddy again JJ." Lucy said giggling. "I know, gross." He replied waiting for his parents to come up for air.

"Come on baby, you worked just fine yesterday." Jack said trying to start his black Ford F-350 Lariat. "What's wrong daddy? Why won't Eleanor start daddy?" Lucy asked from her car seat in the back. Trying again he ignored the look from his wife. "Eleanor is just old with lots of miles on her. Maybe she wants to sleep in this morning." Samantha answered for Jack still looking at him. Jack knew what his wife was thinking. Getting a new truck had been an ongoing discussion for about 3 months now. Feeling his wife's glare intensify he relented. "Your mother is right…" Jack said cringing internally saying the words. "…Eleanor needs to sleep a little longer." He responded removing the keys from the ignition. "We'll be a little late kiddo's but don't worry; Swiss Miss (A/N2) will get us to church." Samantha told the kids as she looked at her upset husband. Sure he loved the truck but it was past time to let it go.

Samantha pulled into the church parking lot coming to a complete stop grinning. Just like the day she had gotten her first car, a blue 1978 Ford Mustang with T-tops and mag wheels. "That was fun mommy, can we do that again." JJ asked from his car seat smiling widely. "Yeah mommy, I want to go again." Lucy added her sun hat askew. "Sorry kiddos, we are at church. Your moms inner teenage driver came out…again. I'll be driving back." Jack said looking at his wife as she parked. "I didn't go over 60 Jack. Just because Eleanor can't handle curves doesn't mean my car can't." Samantha replied getting out of the Volvo putting on her sun hat. Ignoring her once again he let JJ out of the car. "That was fun Dad, you don't need to worry. Cops never give mom a speeding ticket." JJ said with a smile. "Yeah, I know…I hear about her from the chief of police." Jack replied looking at his wife holding his daughter smiling innocently.

Placing his hand on his wife's back the O'Neill family walked up the stairs into church. Sheppard Book was greeting Walter, his wife and 3 children when they entered through the main entrance. "Glad to see you made it with time to spare this week Jonathon and Samantha." Book said tapping his watch with a friendly grin. "That's because mommy drove really fast around curves, right mommy." JJ said with a smile earning a pat on the head.

"JJ you look sharp as always. Lucy, you're beautiful as ever." he said complimenting the kids. "Thank you Sheppard Book, daddy said we are entering Gods house so we need be respectful." JJ answered looking up at his father. "Your father is wise man JJ…when he wants' to be." Book replied earning two giggles from Samantha and Lucy. Rolling his eyes Jack smiled at Book. "Well, at least we made it on time. Maybe there's a seat somewhere in the back." Taking his wife's hand he went to walk into the sanctuary. "General, I figured you'd be late today so I reserved four seats up front." Sheppard Book said smirking. "Thank you Sheppard Book, we appreciate your kindness." Samantha replied walking hand in hand with her husband while JJ and Lucy followed behind them. "Lord, thank you for my interesting and never boring flock. They sure know how to keep me on my toes." Book said to Jesus in heaven.

-Refugees 1153hrs-

Colonel Davis pulled up to the church as services were ending. Driving the staff vehicle around Paul found General Carters Volvo. Apparently his boss's truck didn't start again. Pulling up by the main entrance he parked waiting for the O'Neill's to come out. Standing by the Ford Crown Victoria Paul drank his Gatorade waving a various people he knew. JJ noticed Col. Davis first running up and saluting him. "…at ease Cadet O'Neill." Paul said giving the young man a fist bump. "Do you have classified information for my parents?" he asked with big eyes. "How did you find out so fast…are you a spy?" the colonel asked bending down to his level. JJ looked around then answered. "I'm O'Neill, JJ O'Neill…secret agent for America." Paul smiled at his answer. The O'Neill's son reminded him of his own son with a big imagination. "Then you'll understand that I can't share the information with you." JJ nodded in understanding as his parents and sister walked out. Jack noticed Paul excusing himself walking over his aid.

The Jacksons were talking with Sheppard Book along with Teal'C however the colonel's presence didn't go unnoticed. "Colonel Davis, I take it you have an update for us." Jack said returning the salute. Samantha had walked over to talk with Walters's wife while Lucy played with their kids. She kept an eye on her husband waiting for his signal. "Yes sir, you'll love what I have to show you." Paul said glancing at his brief case then continued. "Doctor Jackson and Gen. Murray will be needed, maybe Janet too." Paul informed his boss. "I'll go ask Sheppard Book if we can use his office. JJ, would you get your mom please?" Jack asked motioning for Paul to grab the brief case. JJ smiled then took off at a sprint feeling like he was on an important mission, a mission of great importance.

"General Mom, General Dad sent me to get you. Dad's boss has top secret information for you." JJ said saluting his mother. Samantha smiled at her son's enthusiasm. "…at ease agent!" She replied as JJ clasped his hands behind his back. "Did General Dad say anything else?" Samantha asked playing along with JJs game. "No ma'am, just to have you meet him in Sheppard Books office." He responded. "Thank you agent O'Neill, I'll head that way." His mother responded then smiled along with Walter and his wife. "Do the two of you have time to watch JJ and Lucy? I'm sure it won't take long." Samantha asked getting a knowing look from Walter. JJ had started to make a bee line back his father but Samantha stopped that with the 'mom' look. "We'd love to Sam; our kids don't get to spend enough time together as it is. We'll be over by the play ground, take your time." Walters's wife said happily. "…aw mom! I'm old enough to know what going on. You deal with ali…" Was all JJ got out before his mother's hand covered his mouth? "JJ, go play…we'll let you know when you have the security clearance. Now go play with your friends." She said shaking her head. "No worries general, I have same problem sometimes." Walter added taking his wife's hand walking over to the play ground.

"Sheppard Book, can we…" Jack started to ask but was cut off. "Yes my son, you can borrow my office…again." Book answered as it wasn't the first or last time he'd be asked. "Thank you Sheppard. Daniel, Teal'C and Janet please follow us. Samantha will be joining as well."

Samantha closed Books office door behind her then took her place beside Jack. Paul opened the brief case pulling out a file and his anti-spying device designed by Samantha's team at R years ago. "General O'Neill Scout Group 1 found a refugee fleet five light years away from Aschen territory. They immediately called in the 7th fleet for assistance." He informed the group then continued. "This file contains pictures of that fleet; it's comprised of two large warships and 35 civilian ships. The civilian ships range in size and function." Paul explained passing out the photos. "The refugees, are they humanoid and how many." Janet asked not interested in the ships. "Did the scout group linguist speak with the leader of the group?" Daniel asked wondering what such a group of people would be running from. Jack and Teal'C took notice of the ships size and armament. The battle damage to the warships and civilians were severe. They didn't look like they could take much more. Samantha did the same but focused on the power read outs.

"Lt. Garfield was able to make in person contact with Rear Admiral Bill Adama of the United Colonial Fleet 1hr ago. They are human and in dire need of assistance. They have between 39456-43,000 people in the fleet based on life signs." Paul said answering their questions. "The colonials and the starfish ship, is there a connection?" Jack asked studying the ships size compared to a Deadalus. Teal'C pointed out gun emplacements similar to that of a Ha'tak.

"That's were communication broke down general. Given the starfish's hostility and the colonials battle damage I believe so." He added pausing again. "Lt. Garfield believes their language is a mix of English and Greek. Thus she requested you Doctor Jackson." Paul said looking at Daniel. "Sounds like a fun, I'll go." Daniel said getting an unsurprised look from Janet. "Judging from these power read outs they are similar to the starfish ships Jack." Samantha added going over them once more.

"Okay campers here are the plans. Daniel you're in charge of breaking the language barrier. Find out everything you can, especially about their enemies. Teal'C, access their threat level to us and overall combat level." Jack ordered getting nods from both men. "Janet, take over the medical treatment of their people. Use whatever resources you need." He told the CMO of Space Force. "Thank you sir, I'll make sure we don't bring back anything contagious." Janet replied happy to be included in the mission. "Paul once you see them off go home, you earned it. The rest of you I'll speak with at 0800hrs Monday for an update, any questions." He asked his officers and friends. "Given this is a refugee fleet they'll be in need of a planet for settlement. Do you wish for me to address this O'Neill?" Daniel asked the obvious question. "Only after all of you have a good understanding of their situation." Jack ordered. "Indeed, we must vet the colonials first. See what their intentions are." Teal'C added as he continued to look at individual ships. The group parted ways biding Sheppard Book a good day as they left.

-STAR GATE COMMAND-

Teal'C went first, same as when Jack led SG-1, with Daniel being last. Paul let out a sigh of relief as the Star Gate shut off. Now he could go home and relax until the next problem came around.

-Bed Time 1034hrs-

Both kids where sound asleep having another busy day. Walters's family joined them for lunch at McDonalds then at a local indoor play area tiring the kids out. Later on the O'Neill's watched Space Balls much to her and Lucy's dismay. JJ and Jack however laughed their butts off which was fine.

Samantha sat in her rocking chair looking at their family album, memories of rocking JJ and Lucy to sleep replaying in her mind. Turning the page a picture of Lucy the day they brought her home in Jacks truck appeared. She looked so tiny wrapped up in her pink blanket. That was 6yrs ago, time goes to fast she thought. Then it dawned on her why Jack didn't want to get rid of his truck.

Jack had just got in the shower when he heard the door to their private bathroom open. Pulling the curtain back he seen his lovely wife standing there with a sly smile, one he recognized all too well. Samantha pulled his old Air Force t-shirt off then her panties. Jack didn't say anything as she got into the shower with him pressing her body into his. With her arms around his neck she kissed Jack slowly and with purpose. Jack had his strong arms around Samantha's waist holding her tightly enjoying the moment. "Remember what happened last time we shared a shower like this?" Jack asked with a gleam in his eyes. "How does Connor James O'Neill or Carter Janet O'Neill sound for possible names?" Samantha asked wrapping her legs around his waist as Jack pressed her against the shower wall. "We'll let God decide which name we use my dear wife." Jack replied entering her getting a low moan in return. Nine months or so later Carter Janet O'Neill made her appearance on March 4, 2016 bright and early at 0630hrs weighting 5'14oz 18inches.
