The round of conversations had taken longer than they usually had from what Nezu told Izuku but eventually the final roster of the kids who passed was made once they reviewed those who passed the written part of the exam.
Izuku almost wanted to go to the meeting early to apologize because a lot of the discussion had been about Ochaco-Chan's actions during the exam.
He had been hoping that Nezu was joking about the air drop that Ochaco-Chan apparently done but no, Ochaco-Chan really had done it.
Izuku would be sure to have some very strong words with her about it after he got home.
And after all of the wrestling over how many points to give each kid and which of them had good enough score on the written, the rest of the staff left for the day.
Well, everyone except for himself, Aizawa-San and Nezu.
Nezu sending him a text to stay afterwards without letting anyone else know, and he thought that maybe it would be about something about Amajiki-San and Hado-Chan.
However, when the only person that met back up at Nezu's office was Aizawa-San Izuku knew that was likely not the case.
Aizawa-San sighed when he and Izuku were both stood outside Nezu's office but didn't seem surprised.
Aizawa-San shook his head and pushed open the door to Nezu's office.
"Why am I not surprised that you invited him, Nezu?" Aizawa-San said gruffly as he walked over to one of two chairs that Nezu placed in front of his desk.
Nezu's ears flicked with amusement at Aizawa-San's reaction and his tail swayed lazily.
"Because as I'm sure you know, Midoriya-San is more than capable of keeping a secret." Nezu replied cheerfully.
Izuku blinked confused but drifted over to the other chair and sat with him, he wasn't sure what exactly was going on right now.
Catching onto his confusion Nezu turned to him.
"I'm sure that you know from the others, the classes are structured randomly, and to a degree that is true." Nezu explained.
"But they're not, are they?" Izuku guessed.
"The seating charts are but the students are placed into one of the two classes by myself, and later with the aid of Aizawa here." Nezu answered.
Izuku hummed considering the idea.
He could see why things would be done like this.
The randomization could be bad for the students even if most preferred it, but Izuku knew that the students would do far better if they and their peers were considered before being placed with each other.
It had kept a lot of his lessons from becoming shoot outs.
"And you'd like me to help put together those classes this time." Izuku understood.
"Indeed." Nezu confirmed before pulling out and passing them both a pair of tablets.
"Given you both have your strengths I believe it will be best to separate the students based on who would do best with someone to help them with their quirks or to expand their skills beyond their quirks." Nezu commented.
"That sounds reasonable." Izuku told Nezu and Aizawa-San merely grunted back.
"Good," Nezu responded with a nod.
"We'll start with the four recommended students," Nezu told them.
Izuku turned on the tablet, and a summarized page of the student's folder popped up with basic information, a summary of their quirk on the students along with a picture of them.
The one displayed currently was girl named Tokage Setsuna, a girl with a quirk called 'Lizard Tail Splitter'.
Izuku noted that this was the niece that Ectoplasm mentioned that he recommended before noticing her quirk.
"Tokage will need to be in my class." Izuku stated.
"Why? According to the data she seems to have a strong enough grasp on her quirk, and she would benefit from training outside of it." Aizawa-San pointed out, but Izuku gave him a look.
"Aizawa-San, what do you think would happen if you used your quirk on her while her body wasn't all together?" Izuku asked.
Aizawa-San stiffened upon thinking about it.
"While you have gotten better with not using your quirk as much, I nor you should risk your quirk possibly killing her." Izuku told him.
"Agreed." Aizawa-San said nodding, tapping the space for class A. Izuku did the same and Tokage was locked into Izuku's class.
The next students' file popped up showing a boy named Honenuki Juzo, his quirk 'Softening' was interesting, and he was sponsored by the hero Snatch.
The boy also seemed to be a touch reliant on his quirk and had some comments in his file for being a bit stuck up from his mental notes.
"Honenuki will probably do better under me." Aizawa-San commented and Izuku nodded.
There was now a student in each of their classes.
Unfortunately, the next student would not be so easy to place, the heiress of the massive Yaoyorozu company was next up, and her quirk and training made her seem to be easily placed in Aizawa-San's class.
But there was a question he had about her quirk that was making him hesitate.
Her quirk, upon clicking for more details did note in the videos and past sessions that she did have problems with her weight and malnutrition when she was younger, she had used her quirk to the breaking points at various points in the past.
But the dietary problems of needing a fat heavy diet specifically weren't listed, general nutrition ones were, there was also the lack of bone density in the joints for a frame that should be weighted down but excess weight for fat using quirks like FatGum's.
So, if her quirk was to convert fat tissue why did it seem to draw from more than that?
"How about Yaoyorozu?" Nezu inquired.
"She'll do better in Midoriya's class." Aizawa-San stated.
Izuku looked up surprised by Aizawa-San saying that, he would have thought he'd want to have her given her focus on combat and martial arts.
"Oh really?" Nezu pressed softly, his head tilted.
"Yaoyorozu is a prodigy, but she hasn't peaked yet. I can humble the girl like I have a lot of the rich kids thrown our way, but given her counseling records I don't think I'd be the best person to help her after her first real loss." Aizawa-San explained.
"Hm, indeed your track record with those like Yaoyorozu are... less than stellar." Nezu admitted before turning to Izuku.
"Would you be averse to having Yaoyorozu in your class Midoriya-San?" Nezu asked.
"No, I have some questions about her quirk though that I think will need some medical tests to confirm my current theory." Izuku answered.
"All right, then that will leave the final recommended student, Todoroki in Aizawa-San's class." Nezu said with a nod.
Izuku bit his lip, but he didn't argue.
Moving either of the girls would be out of the question and Shouto might do better with having Aizawa-San's sternness at first.
Izuku and Aizawa both confirmed Yaoyorozu and Todoroki's places in class A and B, respectively.
"Alright, with the recommended students placed, let's move onto the other thirty-six students." Nezu told them before looking at Izuku, silently asking if he should divulge which of the students his friends were.
Izuku merely nodded.
"In the interest of full disclosure Aizawa-San, all six of the examinees that Izuku mentioned knowing personally have passed the exam and will be placed in one of your two classes." Nezu said.
Aizawa-San scowled and turned to Izuku.
"That Uraraka girl is one of them, isn't she?" Aizawa-San accusingly asked, making Izuku hunch in on himself.
"Um yes, but I never taught her to try air dropping like that!" Izuku answered defensively.
Aizawa-San shook his head and face palmed.
"Who else?" he questioned.
"The Tokoyami twins, Awase, Shoji and Bakugou." Nezu informed.
Aizawa-San raised an eye but didn't say anything.
"Alright, let's place them first." Aizawa-San muttered.
Nezu complied, pulling up Bakugou's file first and Izuku felt somewhat proud that Katsuki managed to get first place, even if his score was only made of villain points.
"Bakugou has I.E.D. and there is a proven history of his condition making him react violently to the others, however he's shown many leaps in improved behavior since being removed from his previous schooling environment." Nezu described.
"I would like him placed in my class, I can aid him if he has a fit and hold him back without having any adverse reactions to his sweat, I'm also fully aware of all of his current learning accommodations." Izuku put out there.
Nezu, Izuku could see, was not a fan of the idea.
"Hn, would there be any problems if Bakugou was in my class and dorm instead?" Aizawa-San inquired.
"A couple, while I do think Bakugou would benefit from a firmer teacher, your sternness for a prolonged period would make him uneasy and that will stress him out, and if you turned his quirk off too often it could cause him heart-problems since his quirk helps to regulate it." Izuku explained.
Aizawa-San considered this for a few minutes before answering.
"I would be alright with Bakugou being in your class, but I want for there to be an open transfer ready if it doesn't work out."
Aizawa-San's answer relieved Izuku.
"Okay, the next one would be Awase Yosetsu, no conditions that would impair him mentally or need accommodations, but he is colorblind." Nezu detailed next.
"Awase wants to go underground and is hoping to learn more hand-to-hand, so he should go in Aizawa-San's class." Izuku told them.
"He does have some promise," Aizawa-San mused, somewhat interested as he looked through Awase's file.
"He does have a problem cussing and he'd do just fine in either of our classes." Izuku added since he knew that not everyone was okay with strong language.
"Let's leave his spot for now and come back to him later." Aizawa-San eventually decided taping the tablet "What about Shoji? He also has some promise in the underground circuit." Aizawa-San inquired.
"Shoji hasn't decided on a branch, and he's still learning about his quirk, so I'd feel more comfortable with him in my class. Especially if his parentage comes out." Izuku replied.
Aizawa-San made a soft "Ah." when he saw the listed birthfather.
"Shoji hasn't had any contact with his father but I'm certain he'd prefer being in my company if someone did make that connection at some point." Izuku clarified for them.
"Acceptable." Aizawa-San conceded.
"As for Uraraka-" Nezu began only for Aizawa-San to cut him off.
"Midoriya can have the problem child." Aizawa-San flatly told them both.
Well, Izuku couldn't blame him for that, Uki-Chan would probably fight with Aizawa-San a little.
"Okay, then I think that leaves the Tokoyami twins," Nezu spoke up.
"The boy with the underdeveloped twin who can manifest themself?" Aizawa-San guessed.
"Yes, the same one." Nezu confirmed with a nod.
"Then also give them to Midoriya, they'll need more attention than I'll be able to give them with their quirk status. There's probably a dozen problems that I wouldn't even know where to begin with." Aizawa-San admitted.
"Thank you, Aizawa-San, they are close to Bakugou so their presence will be helpful to him as well." Izuku informed a little more relaxed.
"And Awase? Where shall we place him?" Nezu asked.
"Aizawa-San's, he'll do good there and I wouldn't want to group all of my friends together." Izuku decided.
"Fine by me." Aizawa-San replied.
"Let's move on then, the rest of the thirty students." Nezu pushed.
"Any preference for Aoyama Yuga?" Nezu inquired.
Izuku looked through the boy's file.
"Probably another for Midoriya's class, he's half-French and grew up in France so having another French speaker will make him feel more comfortable." Aizawa-San pointed out.
Izuku nodded.
"Sero Hanta could learn a lot from you Aizawa-San." Izuku brought up "His quirk is comparable to a built-in capture scarf for both arms."
"Fair enough, I'll take Sato as well, the boy needs to learn a way to fight without his quirk." Aizawa-San responded.
Ah, that was one of the two students that had lower cognition once they used their quirks, Izuku would be sure to flag him for medical testing.
"Kamakiri has an interesting quirk." Izuku commented only to take note of his aggressive personality "Ah, but he and Bakugou would fight too much."
Aizawa-San shook his head but selected for Kamakiri into his class, raising a brow at the next student.
"How about Asui?"
"I can help her in class since she already has a decent grasp of her abilities with her quirk, and she'll learn more from you." Izuku countered putting her down for class B.
"And Shishida? He needs to work on his quirk's 'beast mode'." Aizawa-San said, rolling his eyes at the term used in the file.
Izuku groaned "I swear... please make sure Shuzenji-San has the medic wing ready for testing this coming Sunday Nezu." Izuku grumbled accepting Shishida in his class.
"Of course, Midoriya-San." Nezu agreed.
"Oh, Kendo would be perfect for your class Aizawa-San, she could learn more martial arts from you." Izuku pointed out and Aizawa-San sighed accepting the girl.
"What about Monoma? Do you think you'll be able to handle him? They tend to be egotistical to cover up their insecurity." Aizawa-San inquired.
Izuku paused to consider the current line ups of the two classes before shaking his head.
"He'd get into too many fights, besides he'll do better if he can have something outside his quirk to lean on." Izuku answered selecting class B.
Izuku's eyes went wide when he saw Keiren's older brother Manga but wasn't surprised given what he remembered of the boy's quirk.
"Hm, would this be another Tokage situation with Fukidashi?" Aizawa-San asked.
"No, his word bubble would disappear, and he'll be disoriented but not harmed ultimately if you used your quirk on him." Izuku replied "He might need more help with not relying on his quirk though."
Aizawa-San looked relieved and confirmed the boy on his class roster.
"Ojiro's got a good background outside his quirk," Aizawa-San commented thoughtfully.
"Yeah, but from the way he's currently using his quirk won't be good for his health." Izuku countered and Aizawa-San grumbled but didn't argue to have Ojiro in his class instead putting him down for A.
"Fine but I'm taking Bondo. The boy has his diet in check and will need help with his footwork" Aizawa-San told Izuku.
Izuku considered the boy's current abilities and looked through Bondo's file.
Izuku merely nodded "Just be sure to tell me if he needs any advice for experimenting with his quirk." Izuku requested.
"Fair enough." Aizawa-San muttered with a shrug.
Aizawa-San scowled when he saw the next name.
"I still can't believe that boy got in... " Aizawa-San grumbled pinching the bridge of his nose.
Izuku frowned himself upon seeing the file for Mineta Minoru on the tablet.
He remembered the boy from what Masao-San and Masao-San's friends said about him.
"Flip a coin? Winner gets to expel him?" Izuku offered.
Upon mentioning that Aizawa-San perked up a bit and Nezu flipped a coin for them.
"Well, I need the media scandal anyways, it'll also help the others take things more seriously." Izuku told himself after the flip decided that he'd have to house the pervert temporarily.
"Oh, one of the Iidas, I've always been interested in their quirks." Izuku said once the boy's name popped up.
How extensive were the changes in their body from the bio-engines they were born with? Did boosting like they had caused any unseen medical problems?
Aizawa-San grinned "I think he'll do better in your class Midoriya." Aizawa-San informed him.
Izuku looked at him unfazed "This is about that bet Kayama-San and Yamada-San made, isn't it?" Izuku asked.
Aizawa-San shrugged, Izuku shook his head but marked down Iida for his class, only to blink when he saw the next student's name.
"Um, Nezu?" Izuku asked looking up "Is this right?" he tentatively inquired.
"Yes, that is the boy's legal name." Nezu confirmed.
"Well, then he also seems to have anger problems so do you think he'll do better with Kamakiri? Bakugou's explosions have melted metal." Izuku asked turning to Aizawa-San.
Aizawa-San sighed "Knowing my luck, they'll become friends and spar together in the living room." Aizawa-San complained.
"Kuroiro's quirk would be perfect for underground work and if we place him in your class then he could also learn to work outside of his quirk as well." Izuku said hoping that would cheer Aizawa-San up.
Aizawa-San murped like a cat but accepted the boy as part of his class.
"Oh, the Jiro's daughter, Hizashi's mentioned her before." Aizawa-San pointed out.
"Hm, she'd do better in your class too Aizawa-San." Izuku told the man, "Bakugou will need to use his quirk, and I wouldn't want her to risk rupturing her eardrums." Izuku further explained.
Aizawa-San nodded.
"Yanagi would do well with either of us," Izuku muttered.
"Your class, you have less loud personalities to overshadow her." Aizawa-San countered, Izuku supposed Aizawa-San was right technically.
"Kodai would do with some training with weapons." Izuku said once the next students file came up.
"Don't you know how to use a knife and a gun?" Aizawa-San questioned.
"Yes, but I don't feel comfortable teaching how to use weapons myself, and even if I was, I wouldn't have the time." Izuku argued.
Aizawa-San conceded placing the girl in his class.
"Kirishima, his quirk seems to be the same as Tetsutetsu's... that might lead to a lot of inter-fighting between the two." Aizawa-San brought up.
"He can be in my class then, and if they get along it'll help the classes bond a little more." Izuku commented.
"Kaibara, he'll need more training outside of his quirk, he can't keep sticking his hands in robots." Aizawa-San grumbled, Izuku nodded moving onto the next one.
"Shiozaki's religious will that be a problem?" Aizawa-San inquired.
"Unfortunately, yes, Bakugou would snap back if she tried to correct his language based on that and Shoji has had bad experiences with religion too." Izuku admitted.
Aizawa-San shook his head but they both placed Shiozaki into Aizawa-San's class.
"Another legacy case, Kaminari has an aunt that graduated from here a couple years after I did." Aizawa-San pointed out.
Izuku looked through the file "He's dyslexic, that's common with the electricity quirks and, oh my god… he needs to be in my class." Izuku trailed off pressing the tablet to his face.
Aizawa-San patted his shoulder.
Seriously who saw a kid electrocuting himself and not see there was something was wrong?
"Komori... hn, she'll do better with you Midoriya, she's had problem with an abusive teacher in the past and my teaching style won't do her well." Aizawa-San commented.
Izuku frowned hearing that and reading the full incident it wasn't surprising.
"I think I know that woman... " Izuku muttered but it was a common name so he'd need to ask the Vespas if it was the same Jones that used to teach him.
"I think I'll take Ashido too, she'll need help learning to vary the acid she makes and to keep from harming others with it." Izuku said reading through the next file.
Aizawa-San didn't argue.
"Tsunotori's an American, she'll need to eat a lot of small meals throughout the day given her quirk... would you be comfortable with her Aizawa-San? I wouldn't want her to get sick from the capsaicin Bakugou needs to eat." Izuku inquired.
"I'll be fine with that, I've spent enough time with Hizashi to be fluent. You'll need to take Rin though since he's Chinese." Aizawa-San answered.
"Oh, he's from the same city as the guy teaching me too, so I probably know the same dialect." Izuku said happy to take the boy in his class.
"Hagakure... do you think she can do more than be invisible?" Aizawa-San asked.
Izuku scoffed once he clicked onto her quirk section "Definitely, her old counselors didn't even try with her." Izuku grumbled.
"Shoda has a good foundation with his though, he'd need to work more on his foot work." Izuku pointed out.
Aizawa-San nodded "I don't think he's fought much outside of tournaments." Aizawa-San commented.
"Hm, Koda's quirk involves animals... I wonder how much control he has?" Izuku wondered out loud.
"He can be in your class, I'd intimidate him." Aizawa-San told him and Izuku gave him a thankful smile.
The smile fell though when they got to the next student, Shinsou Hitoshi.
Izuku remembered the boy from when he went through each of the tests and without reading the boy's file Izuku knew there would be a lengthy complaint section about Shinsou from his previous schools.
Looking up he met Aizawa-San's eyes, and he didn't look surprised by the what he was reading.
"Villain has clearly been slapped onto Shinsou." Aizawa-San grumbled.
His own old scars no doubt agitated as he continued reading.
"Yes, mainly from his teachers, and from the looks of things he hasn't had any proper quirk counseling sessions either... he might not even have a brainwashing quirk if what I'm reading is right." Izuku said.
"He'll need to go in your class then and I'll be left with Tsuburaba." Aizawa-San bitterly told Izuku.
Izuku felt bad for Aizawa-San, it clearly didn't sit well with Aizawa-San that he couldn't help Shinsou himself.
Izuku placed a hand on Aizawa-San's arm.
Aizawa-San brushed him off, and waved his hand dismissively, turning his eyes back to Nezu.
"We'll need to look into his home situation as well, it won't surprise me if we receive a call from his parents about a 'mistake' in his enrollment in the hero course." Aizawa-San forewarned.
Nezu nodded grimly.
Izuku pursed his lips.
If Shinsou wasn't safe at home, at least he would soon be away from his parents.
